The Afternoon Show.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
That section is open Shad live to the DJ right
now our website and.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Here he is legendary Davis.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Well, is it me or is it a bit cooler
at the moment? Yesterday it was very very windy and
this morning here got terrific winds. Didn't have any rain
though still hasn't rained for a few months here where
I am by the airport here in Almaria. But I
think a lot of people had a bit of rain
last night. Let's know where you are, did get any
of that rain desperately needed where we are, But yeah,
it's definitely got a lot cooler now. It was a
(02:41):
bit late coming this summer here in Spain this year.
If I'm writing sign because you know, I think it
was around June before it started to really warm up here.
Read a lot of rain and wind at the beginning
of the year, and normally around September. First week in
September it starts calling off. You get a bit of
wind and a temperature drops a lot. Well, it seems
like that already and still got August to go, is
(03:01):
it me or is it a lot cooler at the moment?
Let's know. In the comment section, Yeah, so John I
lost g says he had some rain up there, had
dirty rain y and asrable stuff and there, Luckily we
didn't have any of that. It passed us. I'll sit
over the hills behind me, so I didn't have any
of that. Sylvia said had a power cut as well. Lighting.
I thank you a little bit further up. So, yeah,
I did see it coming up your way early last night,
(03:22):
got the chairs in. I thought he was going to
get it, but by passed us. So there's still no
rain here, but we've got that really really strong wind
here at the moment, and it's not nice at all. Yeah,
my paw has got full of dust and dirt. But
the old robot is out there working really hard today. Now,
Paul Robots undernied about getting a pool robot for a
couple of years actually, and my neighbors bought a cheap
(03:45):
one and I didn't like look of it. It didn't
seem to be that good. And then he went out
and bought a more expensive one and it was fantastic.
And in the end I bought one as well after
trying his, and I must admit it's worth paying a
little bit more money and getting a good Paul robot.
If you've got a pull here in Spain, just chuck
it in, set it on the timer and leave it.
And when I come back about an hour or so later,
that Paul is spotless. Is absolutely amazing. So yeah, it
(04:07):
saves a lot of time and effort. Get yourself a
Paul robot. Okay, So the music industry lost a bit
of a legend. Kelly. Okay, Kelly Osborne, Ozzy Osborne passed
away this week. I'm not a terrific fan of his stuff, actually,
but there are one or two tracks that I really
do like. I play when I'm on my motorbike and
some of the classics and this is one I want
(04:29):
to play now, which I think is a really really
good Kelly Osborne and Osborne there who passed away this
week one seven. Tune in now and join the play. Okay,
(04:54):
so this week I've been checking on my pension and
found that I've got some money you come in to
me that I didn't think I would have. The more pension.
There's a UK gov site where you can check your
pension when it's coming out, the dates, how much you've
paid into the Social security over there. We're all through
a link on the government website. It's quite interesting to
do that. And so I've been talking to my financial
(05:17):
expert who's with us today on the line. So, Hi Josh,
welcome to the show.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Hi David, good afternoon, or how are you great?
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Great Josh? Now Josh, So talking about pensions, then, you
know there's certain things you need to know about drawing
your pension out here in Spain and things to be
aware of that could save you some money, Is that right, Josh?
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah, So if you're living in Spain and do have
a UK pension, whether it's a state pension, a little
bit more limited with options, but especially with private or
work based schemes, and it is something important to know,
which is the way you take from that pension can
massively affect how much tax you bay. No, a lot
(05:59):
of people do, a few. It works the same as
it does in the UK, especially the so called twenty
five percent tax three lump sum which used to be
called the payment Commencement lump sum or PCLSS. But once
you're Spanish tax resident, Spain takes over the taxing rights
MA curity of UK pensions and that lump sum I
(06:20):
just mentioned, it's not tax free anymore, is treated just
like any other income. So you know, there are some
smart waves to get around some tax the tax liabilities
by and by careful planning.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yeah, and that Josh something I saw. I mean that
they're talking about putting it up to sixty seven. I
think it's definite now, is that right? Sixty seven the
pension age in the UK.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Yeah, so for the state pension and some older the
fine benefit or final salary schemes that the access age
is sixty five going up to sixty six depending on
when you were born. And it's yeah, sixty seven is
the most frequent accessation now, but it depends when you're born.
(07:09):
There's brackets, you know, for younger generation it's looking like
sixty eight, maybe even sixty nine, depending when the individual
was born. So it is it's honestly increasing. So it's
it's it's beneficial to have, you know, not just to
(07:29):
rely on the state pension or the social security payments.
You know, if you can access other provisions, it's worthwhile.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Yeah, okay, right, we'll be back with Josh right after this.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Right Way with David Wright in the afternoon on our
Maria Radio one I seven point five SMS. The comment
section is open, so come say hi to David right now.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
You're listening to the Right Way with me David right
here on our Maria Radio one oh seven point five FM.
Very good afternoon to Carol join us in the comment
section and Julia as well. Hi there. I hope you're
filling better, Carol. So we're talking about pensions this afternoon
and got on the line my financial expert Josh Williams. So, Josh,
we were talking about you know, I've had a notification
(08:21):
on the on the website there and tells you you
can put in on the UK gov site about your
payments or National Insurance and it works out the figure
what you're going to get weekly, monthly and yearly when
your pension is about to come out, and it tells
you the exact date you're going to get it as well.
But Josh, you know, you work all your life for
your pension, you pay into it, you pay your taxes,
and you've got to pay tax on that as well
(08:41):
when you're hearing Spain, Is that right, Josh correct?
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yes, Unfortunately, two things certainly in live that's and taxes.
But there are ways to potentially mitigate or plan around
and how income is taken from certain pensions, especially UK pensions,
to be able to minimize that tax liability. But for
(09:06):
the state pension you mentioned, similar to social security payments
in Spain, you'll pay your your marginal income tax rate
here in Spain on that if you're a Spanish tax resident,
no matter if it comes from the UK, if it's
from many PLU country, Spain have taxing rights on that,
(09:26):
and it's it's liable for income tax. And yeah, it's unfortunate,
but it's everyone's in the same boat, some fortunate, but yeah,
there are ways to potentially mitigate other pension income, but
not stay pension.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Now without doing anything illegal, Josh, because you wouldn't want
to promote that. But is there a way that you
can get it transferred into certain bank account or does
it have to kind of a special bank account. What
is the best thing you can avoid for that?
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Yeah, it really doesn't mass, to be honest with you,
it can be. It can be sent to It can
be transferred into Aanish bank account, It can be transferred
into a UK account if you are one of the
lucky ones that still holds a UK account the resident here.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
You just need to.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Declear that no matter where where it goes, you need
to declare that via your your vendor here in Spain
every year the tax return in the modulo one hundred,
which most people should be aware of. But yeah, I
was saying to you a minute ago, David, about some
clients that have recently come to state pension age and
(10:28):
they didn't even apply it for the income or tell
the UK where they want it sent. It just arrives
in their Spanish bank account. So that just shows you.
You know, they do ad buyers everywhere for sure. You
know they've got the common reporting standards and exchange your
information acts where you know UK and Spain are both
part of going back to the sort of the tax
(10:51):
side of things and how to plan around other retirement provisions.
UK based pensions said it is not to take out
large lump sums if possible, if they're not needed, because
obviously the larger income that's taken, the larger amount of
income tax will will be paid. So if that can
(11:13):
be planned around different tax years. You know, if the
client came to me now and said would like to
take out X amount of my pension, I would say, well,
can you take out half of that now and half
next year and that way you can mitigate you know
that the tax will be halved rather than taking it
all this year. So there are ways to plan around.
So I'd buy anyone that has a UKA pension now
(11:35):
live in Spain to get in touch and we can
figure out the most tax efficient way to take income
that works for you.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Yeah, we definitely we want to pay as little tax
as we can and I'll definitely be getting in touch
with you a little bit later on, a bit nearer
the time, to see if you can sort out mine
for me. So if anyone needs any help with anything,
Josh gives free consultations to my listeners, so go and
check out the details are over on the comments section now,
or you can go over to my website David ryot
(12:03):
online dot com and see all the videos I've done
with Josh there podcasts and get a free consultation with Josh.
Thanks very much for john us Josh today, and have
a great weekend mate.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
We didn't likewise, David, take care.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
All the best Jeers, Josh, come down to.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Seven in now and join the play.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Now, if you're a resident in Spain, you've got your
own property here and you've got family, friends, visitors coming
from the UK, it could cost you a lot more
money from now on. That's all coming up after this.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
David Right, David Right, David, David David The Afternoon Show.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Okay, so if you're a Spanish resident here in Spain
and you've got your own property here and you're inviting
family or friends over from the UK or anyone outside
the EU, then you're supposed to have this invitation letter. Now,
it's called the Kata, the invitation on and it's become
a royal degree a decree here number one one five
(13:14):
from twenty and twenty four. So basically what this is
if you've invited somebody over to come and stay with you,
and it can be any family or friends, anyone from
outside the EU that includes the UK. Then you will
have to have this letter. And what they've done they
haven't made it a law yet, but there's the border
patrols at the airports and entry ports are asking for
(13:37):
this invitation letter. And as I say, it is not
law at the moment, but it could well be in
the very near future, and it is something that has
been asked for more often entries here in Spain. Now
what this is is you have to go and get
it from the from a local national a national police station.
There is a charge for it's seventy five euros and
(13:58):
you can't make a copy of It has to be
an original letter and it has to be sent to
the person that you're inviting over, so you can't send
them a copy or anything like that. Has to be
the original and they have to bring that with them
when they come in and if they're asked for it,
they present it. Now it's seventy five euros for the
letter and six to eight euros for each extra person
you want to add their details onto that letter, So
(14:21):
quite an expensive thing to do. Really, there's as I say,
I must stress this is not a law to have
this at the moment, but some border patrols are asking
people for this letter now and you could be refused
if they haven't, if they haven't got it with them.
So yeah, another way of driving money out of people
here come into Spain. But it is all part of
the EU rules and regulations here. If you want to
(14:43):
find out more details about this invitation letter and how
to get it, then go over to my website and
that is David wrightonline dot com. There's all the information.
They're the links on how you can go about getting
this invitation letter. Lakata the invitation. A lot of people
are not happy about it. I think it's a bit
a rip off myself, but it is something that they're
going to be bringing in. Also with this new Ettius
(15:05):
card that's supposed to be starting on the twelfth of October.
I tell you a little bit about that coming out
after this.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
The afternoon show.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Good afternoon, Sheila joining us in a comments section. Yeah, okay,
so there's some more rules and regulations and this Ettios card. Now,
if you haven't heard about this Ettias card, they keep
putting it off. It's due to come out now on
the twelfth of October of this year, but I think
that could be pushed off until early next year. But anyway,
they're pushing now for it to come out the twelfth
(15:39):
of October. The ettious card permit, whatever you like to
call it. So it's called the European Travel Information and
Authorization System. They say it's not a visa, it's a
travel permit. It lasts for three years and it costs
twenty euros at the moment of those talk of that
being thirty euros, and all UK passport holders travel into
(16:00):
Spain will need this. It's going to be linked electronically
to your passport and it's part of the entry system
if you're coming from the UK to Spain. Now there's
more information again over on my information page. That's davidwrightonline
dot com. Something very similar to this. A few years
ago when I traveled to the USA and you buy this,
you can do it online. Get this permit, fills in
(16:22):
the details and you take that piece of paper with
you when you're going to the US. Now this is
coming out, they say on the twelfth of October, But
I personally I think it's been put off a few
times already and it could well be put off to
early part of next year. Their website is not working
at the moment, so we see if it's ready by October,
but be aware of that. It's another way of pain
(16:44):
to come to Spain. Now, remember there's some entry rules
to Spain that are in place at the moment, and
again these are not being asked at all places, but
they're becoming more popular. And I have had a few
people say to me that they're in malag a little
while ago and they did get stopped and asked this.
So remember, if you're coming to Spain, then the airport
staff can ask to see funds of how much you've
(17:04):
got when you come into travel here in Spain on holiday.
This is so if you're coming to at the moment
as it stands, a traveler coming to Spain needs to
show that they have funds in the way of cash,
credit cards or whatever to their value of one hundred
and eighteen euros a day or at least one thousand
and sixty five euros for a stay that is over
(17:26):
nine days here in Spain. So that is what they've
got on their website at the moment. This is proof
and you can prove it with cash, credit cards, or
some way of paying for yourself to look after yourself
why you're here in Spain. You also need obviously a
valued passport, and they can ask you for proof of
where you're staying, and this has to be your details
of the property where you're renting, your hotel, accommodation and
(17:48):
things like that, and also a return ticket as well
as any visas that you might need. So they can
ask you for this and failure to do so at
the airport could make you deported. Now some people are
saying that they ask for travel insurance as well. That
is not actually a law here at the moment, although
some travel companies are saying that you should have some
(18:09):
sort of travel insurance on you if they if you
do get us, so just be aware of that they
are asking at the board. So one hundred and eighteen
euros a day if you're coming here on holiday. That
seems a little bit high to me, but it depends.
I suppose that includes all your food and expenses. But
you can live here in Spain a lot cheaper than that.
But this is what they can ask you at the
borders here. And if you want to find out more
(18:31):
information about that, it's all over on my information page.
That's David Wright online dot com information page. Yeah, Sylvia
says she's heard it's coming out of late twenty twenty six.
There isn't a day I've seen on one of the
Spanish websites saying that they are getting prepared for it
for the twelfth of October. But I've also seen as
well that it'll be coming out the middle of next year,
(18:54):
So who knows on that one, but it's definitely in
the pipeline. It's definitely coming. And a couple of the
fig figures that I've seen are twenty euros, so I
think I paid twenty euros for mine when I went
to the USA. The thing was, when I went to
the USA, I didn't have it on me. I didn't
download it at a copy on my phone and that
wasn't allowed. I had to get it printed out and
they charged me twenty euros at the checking desk to
(19:17):
print out one copy, so it actually cost me forty
euros there. But there you go. So, yeah, just be
aware of this and the costs if you're coming to
Spain this year or next year and As I say,
all the information is over on my information past David
Wright online dot com. But that's just about it for
another show for me. Thanks ever so much everybody for
joining me in a comment section and listening. I do
(19:39):
really much. I appreciate it. More information over on my
brand new website, David wrightonline dot com. Check it out
please and remember up next it's a five o'clock hit
mix with Rob Matt. Stay tuned. Thanks much for joining
me and I have a great weekend.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
The
