Thank you John. Have a great weekend and loads of
more tips and advice right here for today on the
Right Way. I've got two live guests with me on
the show today. Amy Bingham, our wine expert from Madrid,
will be hither to give us some great tips on

(00:44):
a great bottle of wine for the weekend. That's live
on the show a little bit later on. Also Paul
from Indalla Transport, one of my sponsors here is at
a special event. This is a Place in the Sun
Events this weekend and I'm going to be telling you
how to get some free tickets for that event coming

to the Bone.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
The afternoon show David Right, help and advice for living

Speaker 3 (01:11):
You're listening to the Right Way right with David Right.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
A very good afternoon to read to join us in
a comment section, and Sylvia, John o'lost g and John
alex Hire. Guys, remember the comment section has rebooted, so
come and say hi, keep me company this afternoon. Yes,
I've got two live guests on the show today and
free tickets to our place in the sun. Is quite
a few of these events happening in the UK at
the moment. And we've got a special reporter alive versus

(01:42):
Paul from in Dallud Transport. He's got the show this weekend,
so he's gonna be joining us very shortly on the
Shantanna's all about that and how you can get some
free tickets to these shows. Also, it's wine time Friday,
so of course we've got amy ayre Wye experts. She's
going to be live on the show as we all
giving us a recommendation for a nice pot of bubbly
or something nice for the weekend. That's just in time.

(02:03):
I not Murka Donnas afternoon, So see what she can
give us as a recommendation now if you're looking to
find a nice weekend away in the next few weeks
or so. The Quarterback patios are open fifth to eighteenth
of May. They're open a bit longer than that as well, actually,
but so this is when they have the spectacular events
going on there. It's not very expensive to get into

(02:24):
these patchos and some of them are free if they
ever get a chance to go up to Cordba and
visit the patios, they are amazing. There's a little courtyard
patios in the main city. You just walk in. It's
like people's hells. You just walk in the courtyard there
and they've got this fantastic display of flowers and geraniums
and carnations and new name it, they've got it. But

(02:45):
it really is a fantastic display these patios. And there's
a little bit of a competition between them as well,
so you can vote on that and just have a
walk around enjoy the garden. So that's the Patio Gardens Fiesta,
which starts on the fifth to the eighteenth of Mate.
Well worth checking out our city there and vitamin C

(03:06):
spelled sea vitamin c there. Okay, yes, So talking about
the patios in Quarterba, Yeah, John, you've been there. It's
beautiful in it. It's really nice arrangment arrangements they do
up there with the flowers and it's an influence from
my guard and actually because I bought some of these
pots and I've got one wall that's covered in the
blue pots there with the flowers on there and looking

(03:26):
like quarterback something else. If you're up in that Quarterba
area as well, is the mosque and the mothsque geit that,
as they say in the center, they can't miss it,
and if you wanted to go in there, it's quite
expensive to get in there. The tickets are quite expensive.
But here's a tip for the top tip. It opens.
I think it opens at ten o'clock in the morning.
If you go to the back. There's a back entrance

(03:46):
by the north end and the north doorway there's a
little courtyard and it's open for the staff that work
in there. Opens at nine o'clock for the staff until
ten o'clock then the door shuts. There's a security on
the door there, but if you go up to that door,
you can go in completely free and walk around for
one hour without a guide and then they turf you out,

(04:07):
so you get one hour every day you can go
in for free. Now, somebody said to me that they
tried this and they weren't allowed in. But you need
to go to the north door. It's the staff entrance.
There's a little courtyard patio that you go through first,
and there's a big door there with two security guards
on a door, and just walk up to them and
walking straight in. They let you in. It's not a
problem to I've done that several times myself. You do

(04:30):
need a bit more than an hour to see it
all in there, really, but if you can get in
there each day for free, that does help. So just
remember to go around the north door and get in
by the security guards. There is completely free. You can
walk around for one hour and then they turn a
few hours so there's probably enough to see most of
the highlights in there, but definitely worth doing. That's the
mosque in quarterback in the center, right in the center.

(04:51):
You can't miss it. More tips coming up later.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
On The Afternoon Show Live David Right, David Right, David,
It's day.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
David the Afternoon Show. Okay, so it's Friday, It's wine
time Friday, and live on the phone, we've got Amy
Bingham from Walk and Eat Spine. Hi, Imy, can you
hear me?

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Okay, Hi David, I sure can.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Happy Friday, Thanks for Johinas. Imy, So yes, Friday always
goes shopping at the weekends, and try and look out
for some of your recommendations. So what have you got
for us today, Amy.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Well, I know that we've had a bit of a
weird weather situation this spring, and so I have not
switched over to white wines yet like I usually would
by this time, I'm still on the red So I
wanted to recommend a red wine region today, the region
of bierre Fo, which is a really interesting reasion. I've
been drinking a lot of wines from here lately.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
It is in.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
A Leone sort of right on the border between Leon
and a Lithia, and this region is really interesting. So
they specialize in a group called Menthea, and then thea
is really.

Speaker 5 (05:52):
Affected by altitude, so for on the top of the
hill it will take to one way with red fruit
sort of berries, cherry strawberries, but if it grows at
the bottom of the hill, it has more black fruit flavors,
so like blackberries and plums and things like that. So
it's been really fun to drink a bunch of wines
from this region and each time sort of try and
guess is this a high altitude wine or a low

(06:14):
altitude wine, And you can really taste the difference, which
makes it a really fun region to drink from.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
I think, oh nice. And so what sort of prices
are we looking at im?

Speaker 4 (06:24):
You know, Batafoat really ranges everything from some nice entry
level wines that are you know, five six yuros a
bottle all the way up to really spectacular wines that
you can ate for many years that are going to be,
you know, in the thirty forty range.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
I've been drinking quite a few.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Wines from a specific producer called raipt It, who is
kind of the big name in bier Tho, and he
uses a lot of vineyards that are high altitude, so
those more lighter red fruit flavors. And he's got this
one wine that I'm kind of obsessed with right now
called Urea, which you know, everything to read online says
that he should be selling.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
It for three, four or five times.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Well he's selling it for but you can get this
bottle for usually under ten euro, which is just wild.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
That's not bad at all. Okay, Well, I mean I
remember some time ago, you know, you're giving us some
recommendations on the show, and my wife and I my
Spanish wife doesn't like paying a lot of money for
the bottles of wine. You know, like stingy when it
comes to boy and bottles one and you can get
some pretty good wines here, you know, for under five euros.
But since your recommendations, we do extend their budget a

(07:30):
little bit and have noticed a big difference as well,
especially in the white wines and the carvers.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Absolutely it makes a huge difference. Kind of two or
three more euros does really drastically increase the quality of wine,
you know.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
And I thought of you the other day, David.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
They did a big tour here for a group from.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
All over the world.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
There was about sixty seven people and we were standing
on a terrace drinking cover. And the caver we were
drinking is called jelm Sera and it's this cover that
you know.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Usually there's about three or four euros a bottle.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
Cells in the United States, my mom buys it for
eight dollars a bottle, and people were just raving about it, saying,
this wine is incredible. It must be really expensive. Where
can I get it? Do they export? And it's fascinating
for me to listen to this with a bottle of
wine that, again you can get in a grocery store
for maybe four euros a bottle. But it's bright, it's fresh,

(08:22):
it's fizzy, It's exactly what you want from cover and
you know it's our go to.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, I must have been Friday's. It's normally pizza night
for us here mom wife makes our own pizzas and
bottle of kava for sure. But we used to have
the merk a Donna like three euros free eighty splash
out a little bit, pay eight euros and what a
difference it makes. And the great thing is don't have
a hangover the next day.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
That is the beauty of Cover.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
I'm telling you. It is my go to. I have
a bottle in the fridge at all times.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Brilliant. Okay, well, thanks very much for recommendation, Amy, And
if you want to get on the tours with Amy
and then check out her website. Is the description for
that and what they offer up in Madrid there in
the comments section. Now, thanks very much for join us, Amy.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Greators, uncle you David, have a great weekend.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
And you too, what about cheers?

move to Spain, this is the idol place to do
all of your all of your research. I mean I'm
stood here at the moment, I'm surrounded by Spanish property specialists,
estate agents, lawyers, visa specialists, solicitors. So everything you need

(10:29):
you can actually find here. Nothing is for usd there's nothing, Selsey.
It's really a case of you can just come along
to pick Petiple's brains and make some good contacts.

Speaker 2 (10:40):

Speaker 4 (10:40):
I know.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Well, one of our listeners, Silver's in the comments section, like,

think she's just about got her pulled up and ready.
She's in our poll now. So all thanks to you
and your transport.

Speaker 1 (10:58):

gave a lot of advice to Silvia and I know
that she was appreciative of it as well.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Yeah, and Paul, So these free tickets, Paul, you know what,

and this afternoon. I believe tomorrow. I don't know who
we've got on tomorrow. I need I need to check it.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Yeah, Laura's lovely. I met her down at one of
the shows here when she was over here. I was
on there as a guest on one of the shows
Place in the Sun here in al Merrimar several years ago.
But yeah, lovely lady she is.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Yeah, Yeah, they're all. They're all really good. I mean,
the thing is, I mean they're not like stars.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
What I mean, they are very very dangerous people and
they're quite happy to take questions from anybody as they're
wandering around.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
She just bought a.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
House in I think she's she's moving to New Yorker,
so yeah, I mean they know their way around the
property market as well.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Brilliant. Okay, well thanks for checking this women, Paul. I
appreciate your time and enjoy the rest of the show. Cheers.

Speaker 1 (12:46):

Speaker 3 (12:48):
If I don't speak to you before.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
All the best mate, Thank you, Paul. Okay, I think
good afternoons. Catch dog of joining us in the comments section. Yeah,
so that was Paul from Invalot Transport on Storage, one
of the sponsors of my show. His details are in
the comment section now giving free tickets to any of
the listeners to a Place in the Sun event. And
this is not just this weekend. There's several other events

(13:11):
all over the UK at the moment, and Paul is
kindly offering listeners free tickets to this event. It's a
great place we're going to get some information on living
and working in Spain. You're listening to The Right Way
with David Wright in the afternoon on our Maria Radio
one I seven point five FMS. The comment section is open,

(13:37):
so come say hi to David. Right now. Okay, so
you're probably seen in the news over the last few
months or so, Spain is going all out for animal welfare.
They're turning some new rules regulations. Pets and some animals
are called class as a sentient beings. Now you've probably
seen people walking around the shops that are taking their pets.

(14:00):
The cats and dogs are allowed in all the shops, supermarkets,
just about everything now. And the funny thing was last
week the animal animal welfare officer for Spain, the chancellor, sorry, counselor.
Her name is Aurora a Peralta, Aurora Paralta. She attended

(14:20):
a bullfight in the malag I believe it or not
last week. So yeah, there's calls for her resignation. That's
the animal welfare counselor attending a bullfight. Talk about hypocritical
or what, but there you go, that's Spain for her.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
The Afternoon Show Live David Wright, David David.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
David The Afternoon Show. Okay, so with this power cup
we had a little while ago and everything went to
a standstill. Now Spain is pushing forwards. Digital currencies and
credit cards are mostly accepted everywhere now in the favor
in favor of the cash. They don't want you to

(14:58):
spend cash anywhere in Spain. If you notice you're going
into some of these supermarkets and places, everything is geared
up for credit cards now. I was in the Cathlon
the sports center the other day and there's about twenty
tills all self service now and I wanted to pay
in cash and that had to call somebody to take
the cash because there wasn't any facilities to actually take
the case. So they're pushing towards that. But the funny

(15:20):
thing is the travel experts or on the news the
other day on the internet giving out advice to British
people moving to Spain and traveling to Spain this summer,
advising them to carry extra cash with them in cases
another power cut here in Spain, which I'm sure there
will be in the near future, but there you go.
So cash is king, I think, and it'd be a

(15:40):
shame if we get rid of it. But that's just
my opinion. You're listening to the right way with me,
David right here on al Maria Radio one oh seven
point five FM. Summer's come in, so it's got to
be this one. Well that's just about it for another show.
Thanks very much everybody for joy me in a comment section.

(16:01):
I do appreciate it. I hope you have a great weekend,
and if you want any more tips and advice, remember
to go and check out my website. That's davidwrightonline dot com.
It's been totally revamped over the next couple of weeks.
It's going to be some amazing new features over there
and some information and tips as well. Going to be
accessing all of my info for free over on that
site very very soon, so please go and check it out.

(16:22):
I'll leave you with this one now, and up next
it's a five o'clock hit mixed with Rob Mack
