This is the FCB Radio Network,Real Talk worldwide online at FCB radio dot
com. Let me not blush untilyour owns like camphone rushed down, I

(00:21):
put the shot down, the brushwalking walking, and you're listening necessary roughness,
Tim Real Thinking, Marrow and oneagain Erica Rodriguez. This week's alongside
c J. King Cobb. What'sgoing on? Good? People? Good?

(00:48):
I'm gave CJ his nickname on theair, which is something I normally
don't do. But I'm in agreat mood because of the Browns. Yeah,
so, Guards, how are youfeeling, sir? Before we get
into that time I got, Igot mixed emotions on the week I got.

(01:08):
However, when it pertains to theBrowns specifically, I am spectacular.
Like that man watching that game wasincredible, Sez, Hey, how you
doing, Brothers? I'm doing allright? You know what? In this
instance, Guards, Darbill, Ido feel like we are both winners.

(01:32):
Yes, Cleveland has won their firstplayoff game in a long time. Congrats
in kudos to them. But let'slook more importantly at what the Jacksonville Jaguars
have won. We have won,Trevor Lawrence, the future is now.
The future is here. It ishere. I'm gonna get y'all some props.

(01:57):
You're probably still gonna stink next year, but Trevor Lawrence is a bad
boy, and y'all, y'all aregonna be on your way if you build
right, we'll see what happens.I'm interested to see what they do in
the off season because you know they'regonna make some changes, some necessary changes
to uh to build around him andhis skill set. So I think i'd
be interested to see what's gonna happenwith them real quick. Do you think

(02:19):
they're gonna make big changes? Ofcourse, they're gonna make big changes.
But I know one area that theydo not need to make any changes in,
and that's fan appreciation and fan experiencebecause the Jackonville Jaguars are one of
the most leading teams and fan experiencein the NFL. I mean, it's

(02:39):
the gap is miles apart the citychiefs of fan experience. If that makes
it makes sense. You shouldn't theyhave a video? Right they gotta wave
for? Right? Should they gottawave for? We don't have a wave

(03:00):
pool? Yeah, we just had. We have pools and commandons. You
know, I hear I hear hawksof a wave pool being in, we're
just gonna get rid of We're gonnaget rid of some more seats because we
don't need to feel the state. We don't need more seats for the stadium.
We cut that down another five tenthousand and put in a wave pool.
You know what I'm saying, prettybig, it's pretty big exactly.

(03:21):
That's why we get rid of theseats. But we gotta wait until we
gotta wait until the rollers over, you know, to to actually experience it.
I guess though, Yeah, whereeverybody needs it's on the back burning
right now. It's all right,So moving on, We're not gonna talk
about make cat room for it.We're not gonna talk about wave pools for

(03:43):
twelve minutes. So moving forward,we are gonna go to once again the
Browns. The Cleveland Browns won theirfirst playoff game since nineteen ninety five,
and their first road playoff win sincenineteen sixty nine, so obviously it's a

(04:09):
huge deal. And they beat thebricks off of the Pittsburgh Steelers, doesn't
matter what the what the final scoreended up being A lot of that was
garbage time. This game was overfrom pretty much from the very beginning.
So CJ, what were your thoughtson the game and the Browns performance.

(04:32):
I think, first and foremost, you have to you have to give kudos
to the Browns coaching staff is depletedas it was with you know, the
head coach gone, the offensive linecoach gone. Um, for them to
be able to get those players withvery limited practice time to get them ready

(04:56):
to play a game, and alot of them were backup. They're backup
to there. And the way theycame out and played, you couldn't tell
there was no drop off. Itdidn't look like there was any drop off.
Them boys came to ball and ballthey did. Uh, Baker Mayfield,
what can I say? I thinkthe Browns may have their quarterback of
the future. Now. Now thechatter should die down because Baker Baker played

(05:20):
a great game. Um. Heunderstood that he needed to get that ball
out fast and I'm talking that ballwas out to the correct receiver and he
let his playmakers make plays. AndNick Tubby, that's the identity of the
team. You know what I'm saying, Run the rock, pound the rock,

(05:40):
and they did that profusely. Imean, good lord, they were
killing the Steeler Kareen n and NickTubb was just running all over them.
That it was. It was.It was a great day to be a
brown in a very very bad dayto be a stealer. I'll say that
because the boy was in the blackand gold or black and yellowy it was

(06:02):
just yellow. There was no black, It was all yellow. It was
all yellow. Man. All right, Garbs, now your thoughts on the
game. But also I want toput this on the table and then get
your reaction to it. I knewfrom the very beginning that the Browns was

(06:23):
gonna win that game. I hada feeling, of course, and you
always had hope, but at thevery beginning of the game, before the
before the ball snap, I knewthey were gonna win. The reason why
I knew they were gonna win isI watched how the two teams came out
of the tunnel. The Browns wereenergetic, running ready to go, and

(06:44):
the Steelers were just plotting along.Whole hummus. Another day, when I
looked at that, combined with thestupid comment that Juju Smith Schuster said,
I said to myself, they're nottaking the Browns seriously. I love at
that just from new coming, justthrough the way they came through the tunnel.

(07:05):
To me, I was like, they're not taking them seriously. The
Browns are gonna win this game, and they beat the breaks off of your
thoughts on the game. Um forstarters, I could see definitely where you
get that from, uh and whereyou feel that way, because you know,
with that, with those comments, you know, when you're when your

(07:27):
star players are saying things like thatpublicly, everybody else is gonna follow into
that same mode of thinking. Soyou know, if you're if one of
your star players is taking it lightlyand he says that earlier on in the
week, right there were there wasdays left, then now that's gonna be

(07:53):
absorbed by everybody else, you know, whereas you know the Browns, the
Browns play, our star players arehungry, they want to win. They're
not they're not uh looking down.I mean, you know, the the
last game that we lost was theJets, So you know they're not They're

(08:16):
not just taking anything for granted atthis point in the season, because especially
because now this team here has enteredthemselves into the history books of Brown's UH
teams, you know what I mean, Because I mean, this is the
first time that We've beat the Steelersin the playoffs, right, you know,
and since in a very very longtime, you know what I mean,

(08:39):
so exactly, So this is like, and we beat them two weeks
in a row. So these guysand they want to play. So I'm
super excited that and super happy thatwe pumbled them, and especially in that
first quarter, we set a recordfor playoff games in a quarter. In

(09:03):
the first quarter we said, wesaid a record with most points. And
I feel like a police report shouldbe should be a filed on the assault
that was on the Pittsburgh's whole team. If I made too man and just
kind of piggybacking off what you saidguards as a as a former player,

(09:26):
one of the first things coaches tellyou going into a big game, going
into game week, do not givethe other team any bulletin board material.
And Juju Smith Schuster, I don'tknow what's going on with him because he
was like the darling baby of everybody. Everybody loved Juju when Antonio Brown was

(09:48):
spazzing out and going crazy. Butall of a sudden, now Juju wants
to do this little Corvette challenge onon people's logos in the field and then
they get smacked that day. Nowhe's talking big cash about the Browns,
and guess what the Browns did. They came out and took that check out
of your backside. Juju, heythat yep. I don't know. I

(10:13):
don't know what's going on with Jujuwhile he's talking this cash stuff, especially
the way the Steelers were looking thelast half of the season. But he
was tripping. He was tripping. And then the Steelers came out fat and
sassy, and that's the same waythey went home. And then they went
home sad and satthew. Now theywas mad. Oh you know, you

(10:33):
know they were mad. You knowthey were mad. And then you know,
honestly, here's the thing, likewhen they flashed and and I know
some people are gonna be like,I can't believe you said that. But
like when when they flashed, thebig men sitting on the bench crying.
I put a cup to the television, like I collected for coffee the next

(10:54):
morning, I put that. Iput that in my coffee. When I
was grinding my beans and I wasputting the purified water into the machine,
I sprinkled a little bit about thosetears into Dave Brown's Brown's faith should make
that a pure mean just one willsend the single tier coming down. It's

(11:20):
it's it's, it's there, itexactly. I believe this, So go
Brown's. You know, I'm excitedabout this upcoming game. Um, you
know because if we're able to beatthis team this uh the Chiefs, save
the Guard, save it because thatbecause we're gonna go on the next segment.

(11:43):
We're gonna touch on that a littlebit and then we'll transition to the
next topic because I know where you'regoing and and I want I want to
go there as well. So staystay tuned. We'll be right back.
Hot topics, celebrity news, indepth interviews, and a whole lot more.
Or it's the Outlaws Radio Show.Listen on the iHeartRadio app or wherever

(12:05):
you get your podcast today. That'sthe Outlaws Radio Show. This is necessary,
welcome back to listen. Name toonecessary roughness. Make sure that you

(12:28):
subscribe to the show's podcast on iHeartRadioor wherever you get your podcasts. And
quickly we are talking about the Browns. Obviously, the Browns. Molly wopp
that's that's that's that's far on mywhole heads. There they Molly wapped the
Steelers last week, and of course, the next game is against the Super

(12:52):
Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Veryfew people are giving the Browns a chance.
I say, key doing that becausethis team feeds off of when you
doubt. Ye, I believe thatthey have a chance. I believe that
they have to have a shot tobeat them. Now, Guards, the

(13:13):
reason why I wanted you to holdon that point. Now, I don't
know what you were going to say, but I wonder if it's similar to
to my theory. Okay, mytheory go, let's go. I'm ready,
I'm ready. Let's let's do this. Let's do this. If the
Browns beat the Chiefs, they're goingto the super Bowl. You heard it
here first. That's that's that's whatI believe your thoughts. Guards, absolutely,

(13:37):
absolutely, and and like I completelyagree because the fact is is that
the Chiefs are an incredible team. They're an incredible team. But like,
let's look at stats, and let'sgranted a few years have passed since they
faced each other in college, youknow, but I think that this Browns

(14:03):
team is able to score. Andwe saw that against Pittsburgh, we saw
that in multiple other games. Granted, I do know that we do need
a little bit of work on ourdefense, and our defense has been has
been hurt a lot this year,uh with with COVID and injuries and things
of that nature. However, wecan score, this team can actually put

(14:28):
the ball in the end zone,uh and and march down the field,
you know, on a regular basis. And if we can keep that same
momentum up against the Chiefs, Ithink that we're in for a treat treat
for this game, quite honestly. And I think some people are completely underestimating
the Browns, and just like yousaid, good underestimate the Browns because that's

(14:52):
fueling the energy because these guys knowthat they're the underdogs. They know that
they're not they're not post a quoteunquote win this game. They weren't supposed
to quote unquote win the Pittsburgh game, but they did. They figured out
a way to do it. Andthat's what we've been talking about all season,
the next man up attitude and findingways to win. And these guys

(15:15):
can do it. If any otherteam can do it, these guys can
do it. These are no Icould actually go on forever. So I
definitely want to hear so CJ,obviously your perspective on the upcoming game,
your perspective on guards, and Iare thought that, look if the Browns,

(15:37):
because to me, the Chiefs area great football team. If the
Browns can beat the Chiefs, theycan beat anybody. So if they could
beat the Chiefs, they're going tothe super Bowl. But also I want
to put this on the table foryou to respond as well, CJ.
The there's not there's not a tonof weaknesses on the Kansas City Chiefs.
One weakness that they do have, though, is their run defense, and

(16:03):
that is going to that could potentiallybe a say it again, they are
not They are not a good runThey don't do good against the run.
And can I go ahead? Ohyeah, and you know who's really good

(16:26):
are running the Crown? CJ.Your thoughts on the game, Your thoughts
on the upcoming game? Yes,sir, okay, so look, it's
fine if people are sleeping on theBrowns, but I tell you what,
the one team that better not besleeping on the Browns is the Kansas City

(16:48):
Chiefs. Okay, do not underestimatethis team, all right? This team
is dangerous and and Darbiel, youhit it right, on the head.
Uh. There there one one weaknessfor Kansas City is the run defense.
Now I would expect the defending championsand that coaching staff to know this,
realize this, and to shore upthat run defense by you know, increased

(17:14):
film study. Hey, it's imperativethat you guys feel your gaps, know
your assignments, make sure that you'reat the right place when we call these
plays. But again, the Brownsdo have that X factor. I mean
sometimes you have guys that you can'tno matter what the defense is, they're
gonna get theirs. And Nick Chubband Kareem Hunt there, that's that's that

(17:37):
dynamic duo that will get theirs.I guarantee you that, because right now
the Browns are writing something called themighty mighty momentum training you know, mighty
mo For sure, they are writingthat momentum from beating the Steelers at the
end of the season to beating themat home in the playoffs. Down a

(17:59):
coach, an offensive line coach, down an offensive linemen, down the defensive
star. Just they're down people andnow they're going to get those people back.
And going against the defending Super Bowlchamps, they have nothing to lose
here. The Browns are are thatthat, like you said, the underdog

(18:19):
that has nothing to fear, theirfear they're playing will have money. Yeah,
exactly. So they're they're coming inthere looking to punch Kansas City in
the mouth. And like I said, Kansas City better not be sleep because
if they are, they will notwake up until after the confetti is dropping
on the Cleveland Browns and they're havingto be carted off the field wondering what

(18:44):
the hell happens. And and here'sone thing that I'll add on to that
is that when it pertains you arerunning, Chubb and Hunt have different run
styles. Yes, and if you'venoticed throughout the season, there are certain
situations for a coach will put eithereither or in and we get yards.

(19:07):
Yes, yeah, let and letme and let me, but let me
play this too. Put this upthere as well, because let's not forget
who Kansas City has, all right, let's not forget that high that potent,
that high grade offense that they have. Now Cleveland better be smart.
This is this is this is thekey right here. Cleveland needs to win

(19:30):
the time possession. They need towin time sossession because if they let Patty
Mahomes, or, as Shannon Sharfsays, my homeboy, get on that
field and play in the day,and play in the sand and play around
and do what he does. It'sgonna be a long day for Cleveland,
all right, because they can scorepoints, and they can score points in
a hurry. So do not givethem any more opportunities to score points by

(19:53):
just going out there and getting outsideof yourself, getting outside of your character,
trying to match them past the football. You run that rock, and
you run it until the cows comehome. All right. So, uh,
we're gonna transition real quick because wehave a little over four minutes left.
Um, there was a big blockbustertrade in the NBA. Uh,

(20:15):
disgruntled James Harden has finally been movedand took a fourteen trade to do it.
Um, he is now within theBrooklyn Nets with Kevin Durant and Kyrie
Irving, flat earth, Kyrie Irving, and so guard your thoughts on this

(20:41):
move. I don't like how JamesHarden handled this situation, not at all,
not in the slightest, big, very bad taste of my mom.
But go ahead. They gave himeverything. They gave him everything, and
they even traded Westbrook earlier on togive to still give everything, and it
wasn't good enough and he's still canplain. And then now here's the thing.

(21:03):
His style of play is not goingto work. It's not gonna work
in there, and and I don'tthink KD is gonna have that. And
because now, uh, you know, with with Kyrie, I mean,
here's another possibility. And I knowwe were talking about it a little earlier
before, you know, off air, but you know, what if they

(21:26):
got him because Kyrie has been onsome other stuff and maybe they're looking to
move him, I don't know.But either way, I don't see I
don't see his style of play becausejust just working. Because you know,
even when you look at Kyrie, you look at KD, is that even
though they both are leaders in therein a sense of their play style,

(21:51):
at the end of the day, they're still team players, right right,
So I don't know. I mean, is there enough the rock to go
around? That's a very good question. I mean that those are three very
bad, dominant players, and alsothe Nets just got rid of some of
their depth to get it to gethim, including two very good players that

(22:15):
end up on the Cleveland Cavaliers, which I'm very happy for as a diehard
for the Cavaliers fan. So CJ, we have two minutes your thoughts on
the Blockbuster trade as well as howJames Harden has conducted himself through this whole
process. Let me let me startoff by quoting the comedian Tony Baker,
very funny comedian. I love followinghis videos and what he does. But

(22:38):
he says something along the lines ofthis, James Harden, you're a real
piece of work. Yeah you are. You have the Houston Rockets for everything
they have, are worked. Imean, you just drained it out of
them. And he said, I'mgood. I'm out. You came back,
fat and sassy from from the greatwith dreads and now you you you

(23:03):
prance out there, you you youplay a couple of games, and now
all of a sudden, Okay,I've had enough. I'm I'm done.
As if the Houston Rockets did youso dirty? I mean, and I
don't know James Harden obviously personally, but I just like you, darbio.
It sits wrong with me how hewent about this. I mean, because
it doesn't feel professional. You're outpartying with a baby or a little baby

(23:27):
or the baby, I don't know. It's some sort of small child maskless
So obviously one you don't care aboutthe COVID nineteen protocols. You you come
out of shape, so you're nottaking your craft seriously, and now you
want to trade after you've caused thisteam to pretty much decimate their whole organization

(23:49):
just to appease you, and thenyou left them. Uh as far as
Brooklyn goes, like you said,I don't know how it's gonna work.
Um, maybe Kyrie has the secretstage you know, going around that's gonna
make everybody just come together, umand and and playball. But I don't

(24:10):
know. I just I don't likehow this whole thing went down. I
think it's good for Houston because they'regetting rid of a cancer that has grown
malignant. Uh so now they're gettingthe clean bill of health, even though
they have to start over from scratch. But sometimes, you know, they
have to sometimes. And I willsay this, Uh, for those of

(24:32):
you who don't know CJ personally, one of DJ's biggest pet pees are Prima
Donna athletes. I can't, Ican't. Who do you think? Who
do you think you are? Imean, yeah, I get it,
You're you're scoring champion all that stuff, but man, professionalism it goes a
long way you. It's hard forme to speak on right now because I'm

(24:53):
upset with how he went about this. But the teams that have won recently
in recent years, they've all playedteam ball. Yep, all right,
we have more to come and hGardens is about to get a little depressed
on this next topics. Say,oh man, here we go again,

(25:15):
up yelling at three am my enemyanother friend energy. I let you take
it. Then to make it evenStephen on the weekend, you're gonna buy
me things love just to get arrangedwhere you disturb my balance, that's the
thing. So is it worth it? It's Aaron Leik here. Check out
my new single worth it, anddon't forget to follow me everywhere on all
social media platforms and streaming platforms tohear my new music right when it drops,

(25:37):
because say, we deserve this, you know, so it's worth it.
I really wanted. Sometimes this isnecessary roughness. Welcome back, walk

(26:00):
back and listening to necessary roughness. We have another topic to discussing just a
second, but before we get tothat, just to kind of close house,
the topic that we were discussing himthe last segments with James Harden and
the big Blockbuster trade and James Harden'sbehaviors. I know CJ. I've been

(26:22):
knowing CJ for a long time, and as a former professional athlete, I
know that he it is a petpeeve of his to see primadonna athletes.
So we're just gonna take a littlebit of time to let CJ rant a
little bit about how James Harden conductedhimself and his issue with primadonna athletes.

(26:47):
Let me let me tell you somethingbefore you even say, I'm a toss
it to CJ. Now, youdon't even do that. I'm here.
Look, man, I may bea little bit biased on this because I
am a former offensive lineman, andeverybody who's played the game of football or
who is familiar with it know thatlinemen, especially offensive linemen, we do
not seek glory. We don't getthe glory. So we put our bodies

(27:11):
on the line for the team.We are team player exactly. We're in
the trenches. We're the ones thatyou know are getting our knees crossed up
and tangled up, you know, running back, running into the back of
our knees, receivers trying to throwblocks, they falling down into our legs
and stuff like that. We're alwaysputting ourselves on the line for the team.

(27:33):
It's nothing. It's no individual personcomes above the team to an offensive
lineman. And in basketball, Iknow it's different, but in the world
of professional sports, just in theworld of team being on the team,
when you're putting yourself above the team, you are doing the whole organization of
disservice, and you're doing yourself adisservice because now you have a stigma that

(27:56):
is a tense to your name whereveryou go. So now wherever James Harden
goes, people know that organization shouldn'tknow that he will literally ring you for
everything your worth and then leave youall crumpled up and empty once he's done
squeezing the life out of you, because that's what he just did to the
Houston Rockets. He put he said, I'm better than all this, the

(28:19):
rest of the guys, there isno Houston without me. In fact,
now you have nothing because I'm outof here. And it drives me crazy
on so many different levels because, like I said in the last segment,
and the times we're in now withCOVID. For him to be out maskless
partying, it's irresponsible. Obviously,it's unprofessional, especially when you know the

(28:45):
rules, you know better, andyou still do it anyway. That's messed
up, man, because not onlyare you putting your life in jeopardy,
but you're putting your teammates life injeopardy. You're putting their family's life in
jeopardy. All that stuff goes together, and for you to just blatantly disregard
that is beyond me. Secondly, every professional athlete knows that your body,

(29:10):
you're conditioning, how you come tocamp, training camp, that is your
calling card, that is your markof professionalism. For you to come in
not all the way in shape ornot in proper shape, and it's not
like you're coming off an injury. You just didn't care. So now you
come in out of shape and youtell your team and everybody in that organization
that I don't care about you,I don't care about I don't take this

(29:33):
seriously. And that's a slap inthe face to all the people who do
take it seriously, who grind forhours and days and weeks and months to
try and get to that point exactlyfor the athletes coming out of college in
high school who dream of being inthe NBA, who dream of being in
the NFL, to see somebody likethat his level, who didn't take it

(29:56):
seriously and has now taken his positionfor g in it when there's so many
there's thousands of players that would killfor his position to be the main guy
on a team like that, andhe just flippantly gave it and said,
all right, well, I've doneall I can do. I squeeze you
for all I can squeez you fora Now I'm balance. It's messed up,
man, And I would never Ijust I don't. It's so selfish

(30:21):
to me. And I get it'sa fine line between you know, knowing
your worth and then uh, justbeing a jerk. And I think in
this situation, he's mid season, but it's mid season, so you know,
like it's a mid season and you'rethe start and you're pointing this,
it's kind of it's just it's justbad taste. It's bad taste to me,

(30:45):
and it's not professional. Um,It's like, especially because he has
two years, it's not like hewas an expiring college right, It's ridiculous.
It's ridiculous. So and so it'sgonna be interesting to see how and
if that even comes close to working, because now you got Kyrie and him,

(31:10):
so that's gonna be fun. Idon't. I don't think I like.
Then you throw in like, Okay, now you got a guy like
KYD who is also an upper echelonplayer, and who doesn't who's not like
that? So how is that gonnawatch out? He has he has a
little Kadi has a little diva inhim, but he's nowhere near. But

(31:36):
the difference is k D shows upregardless if he has diva. D always
show up and he will shape. He will show up serious about his craft,
and he will show up to bethat you paid him to be.
He granted, he don't cared forthe media. Okay, that's fine,
But as a teammate in the lockerroom, on the practice court, and

(32:00):
in the game, you know KDis going to give you every ounce of
what he's got, barring injury oranything like that, he is going to
give you everything. Uh he isas advertised when he comes to your team
or what he's out there. Soyou can only depend on KD to be
who he is, who he says, he right, absolutely so, uh

(32:23):
moving on real quick, we haveabout four minutes left. Uh, this
is the time of the show whereGarbs cries a little bit inside. Um.
So, there was another team thatgot the Brakes beat off of them,
and that was the Ohio State buckEyes. I must, I must
admit, I am not a I'mnot a Buckeyes fan like all like that.

(32:46):
I'm in Ohio. I'm a Stateof Ohio fan, so I support
anything that's good for the state. But I am going to turn it over.
We have let's see about do.We have about three minutes, so
I'm gonna turn it over to guardsand let you get it all out.

(33:07):
BLA. So let's let's start SundaySunday. I'm happy the Browns played one
beat the Steelers, and I'm I'mup here, I'm up I'm I'm on
a whole different level. My energyis reached different plateaus. And then I

(33:30):
watched the College football National Championship andour Buckeyes we we got, we got
beat beat. Saving came in traditionalsaving style, and it just it was

(33:51):
really really it was really really bad. I saw this meme. I saw
this meme. I'm sure other otherpeople have seen it, and it is
like Staino's hunt it and it's likethat the Browns, that the Browns win
the playoff game and it stain waslike yes, and then it's like what
did it cause? And then itsays Francisco Lindor in the Ohio State Buckeyes

(34:19):
and it's it's man like. Watchingthat game, I was like, oh
my gods, they gotta they gottastop these dudes, because it just looked
it just looked completely different. Likeno matter what, I still love the
team. I'm still gonna always supportthe team. Uh, but it just
was not a good look Like wegot completely outplayed, out coached, and

(34:40):
um it did. It wasn't pretty. It wasn't pretty at all. I
was I was very I don't evenwant to just say disappointed that. I
was just like in shock that itwas that big of a gap of play,
you know, and and I don'tknow that was that was It was
crazy. It was crazy. Yeah, they would be really bad. H

(35:04):
CJ. We gotta mintal left. You got anything to add add on this?
All I know is that the trueteam of Ohio the Cincinnati Bearcats,
the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, werewrongly placed. We should have been in
that college football playoff. We wentundefeated, won more games in on Howse

(35:25):
state, and still somehow slipped inthe rankings to play a very good Georgia
team. Now grinned. I knowwe lost that game. It was a
heartbreaker, but we we lost thatgame, like the final two seconds with
the last second field goal. Weshould have won that game. There's some
mistakes. I won't get into it. We should have won that game,
but we even more should have beenin that college playoff, and I bet

(35:46):
you we would have surprised everybody andwe would have done the state proudly.
That's all I'm saying. Go Bearcats, Ohio State. I have friends I
have coached former coaches that coach upthere, so I want them to coach
with, but I do not wantthem to win. That makes all right,

(36:07):
We're going to break in real quick. I just want to add it
seems like my college team is theonly one that actually won a bowl game
this year. All right, wewant a bowl game. You didn't win
the championship. I'll play it likethat. Yeah, but we still want
a bowl game. I'll be rightback. Did Paul Revere really say the

your friends, family and your daddy. Yes, everybody, everybody. So
before we leave you today, umthe Cleveland, well what is now known

(38:08):
as the Cleveland Indians. They tradedaway. They did what we knew they
were gonna do, but it stilldoesn't make it feel any better when they
do it. They traded away theirstar player, a player who came up
in their system, the closest thing, one of the closest things that Major

(38:29):
League Baseball has to a superstar rightnow, Francisco Lindor. They also traded
their star pitcher, Carrasco, whocame back after battling cancer. They trade
them, traded them both to theNew York Mets. I'm not gonna lie
to y'all. I know we havewe got prospects and things like that in

(38:50):
return. Not very familiar with thereturn that we got. I just know
about the players that that left.Uh so, guards, what the hell?
I'm not happy. I'm not happy. I told you about that.
Um, I told you about that. That mean that I saw you.

(39:12):
You know, things that we hadto lose the cost of the Browns winning
the playoff game, and we hadand we get we had to give away
Lindor, Like, what is wrongwith y'all? We had to give away
Cookie? What's wrong with y'all? Why would you trade these guys? Because
not only are they exceptional talents, but the city likes them. We love

(39:37):
these guys. Yeah. Like likeas I said, as I said to
you guys earlier before we even we'rerecording, you know what I'm saying,
before we started doing this show today. You know, Lindoor is the only
other only player that I've actually purchasedtwo jerseys before, like my favorite favorite

(39:58):
baseball player right now, you knowwhat I'm and like that, That's just
what it is. Like he contributes, He's always happy and always he enjoys
the city. He likes the city, he loves playing for the team everybody
likes and the fans like him,The other players like him, clearly,
the coaches like him. Why wouldyou Why would you trade him? Why?
Oh? Because but we all knowas that as we learned last year.

(40:22):
I believe it was when that articlecame out when the owner said,
could you picture me paying that typeof money for a player? And that
was the start where we knew thatwe had to prepare and embrace our embrace

(40:42):
for the impact of them getting ridof Lindor right, And I'm still it's
still you know, it's like, hey, I'm gonna rip this. I'm
gonna rip this duct tape off ofyour skin. Just prepare for it.
Okay, we prepared for it.We knew what was going to happen.
But it doesn't hurt any less.It still hurts the same amount because and

(41:07):
then for us to to to giveto trade away cookie as well, that
was just like, so you reallyjust want people to just be pissed at
you. I hopefully we can saythat. I don't know if you can
edit that, but um, youwant or safe. Okay, So you

(41:28):
want people, you want the fanbase to be to be angry. And
you know the bottom line, likeeven during our and I think that this
is going to tie into to whatyou have to say on this subject,
but you know, even during someof our greatest seasons that we've had over

(41:49):
the past uh three years, fouryears, you know, uh with playoffs
runs and then getting to the WorldSeries, even even even during that time
period the regular season games when we'redoing spectacle, we're playing, well,
you look up in the stands andthere's sections they don't have people in them.

(42:13):
These are two players that we've thatthat we've traded away that the city
loves m see your loves and ifyou these these are players that we paid
to see. These are players thatI, personally, as a fan of

(42:36):
the tribe, I paid to see. I want to see these guys play.
M yep, so uh CJ.We're gonna go to you. I
want to set the tone real quickand get your your thoughts on this,
and then Guards will go back toyou for your thoughts on this as well.
But you know, Guards brought upabout the Indians attendance and this is
something that the Indians ownership likes toharp on all the time when they talk

(43:00):
about not being able to play topay players, when they talk about being
a quote small market team, whichreally annoys me because this isn't a small
market, this is a mid market. But anyway, when they talk about
this all the time, about notbeing able to play player to play pay
the players, one of the thingsthey always talk about is attendance. It

(43:21):
is my belief that the Indians poorattendance is their fault because of doing stuff
like this. We can't forget thatthis is the same Cleveland Indians that had
four hundred and fifty five I believeconsecutive sellouts once upon the time so it's

(43:43):
not like Cleveland doesn't support the team. But in two thousand, I believe
it. With two thousand and seven, they traded Cliffly and they traded CC
Sabathia. That broke the bond betweenthe team and the fan base because it
sent the message that no matter howgood the team is, because they went

(44:07):
to the playoffs that year, nomatter how good the team is, no
matter how good that the Indians draftand trade. Because the Indians are a
very stable franchise, they do verywell in drafting and trading. I have
to give them that. But itsent a message to the fan base that
no matter how good the players are, that they get that by the time

(44:29):
they go to their prime and andand get to the level where they have
to get paid, the Indians aregoing to ship them off anyway. So
why would anybody believe in this team? Why would anybody have faith? Because
if you notice when they when theygo to the playoffs, the stadium selves
out of pad. It's so it'snot like it's not like Cleveland doesn't support

(44:52):
their teams. And CJ as youknow this, we talked about this before
the show, and we talked aboutthis last week as well, the Cleveland
sport fans sold out the Arena Bowlfor an arena football game, So you
cannot tell me that Cleveland sports fansdo not support their teams. But if
they feel like there's no reason tosupport them because you're not gonna pay to

(45:14):
keep the players around, why wouldthey your thoughts either, Yeah, man,
you said it pretty pretty simply. If you if you want the people
to support the team, put aproduct out there that they're wanting to pay
to see. And as you said, guards, these were players that people
wanted to pay the seed. Andthen you take them away and you and

(45:37):
you send them off. That's howyou know this team, doesn't. I
don't know. I'm not sure whatreally goes on in that front office mindset
where the disconnect where you're instead ofseeing the actual players and what they mean
to the organization in the city, you're just seeing dollar signs. At this

(45:58):
point, you're seeing, Okay, this guy's gonna do well, but as
soon as he becomes too costly,we're gonna shift him out. We're we're
just gonna get rid of them sothat we can we can get another young
guy and then train them up tobe good and hopefully maybe he'll get us
to a World Series, but we'renot gonna pay past this point and anything

(46:21):
past that point. We get himout of here. And that's not how
you build one. That's not howyou build a good, strong tradition with
your organization. And two, that'show you really tear down the trust with
you and the fan. I mean, I can hear it in both of
your voices. You guys are upsetabout this. I mean, you guys

(46:44):
are Cleveland Natives through and through. That's your team. And these guys become
they become your people, even thoughthey're not they may not be from here,
they become your people. They becomepart of the city. And it's
literally ripping part of the city outof out of your hearts when they rip
these guys out and they send themmosewhere, and uh, it's just not

(47:06):
it's not good for business. Um. Yeah, you've had some success,
but if you continue to if youcontinue to be cheap and continue to be
tight fisted with your money, you'reyou're not gonna get anywhere. You have
to. You have to pay toplay, all right, You have to
pay to play, So you're gonnahave to start paying these guys, these
big time talents that you have broughtup. You mentioned it, guards you

(47:28):
brought Lindor up in your system.Pay that man. That man is loves
the city. He's loyal to thecity. He didn't want to leave.
Yeah, he didn't want to leave. Somebody that you can put on the
forefront and have him and have himhave the city's rally around him. He
is mister Cleveland now or was,and and now you take that away,

(47:53):
who can the fans really rally around. It's self inflicted. It's self inflicted.
I I completely agree with you,um because at the end of the
day, it's like you know, you're, you're you have these players coming
up, and by the time thatthey mature in their gameplay, is that
this whole different level that is isbeyond regular player, and we're trading them

(48:19):
away. We're trading them to goand be successful someplace else and make another
market happy and win them a WorldSeries. And then here we are still
you're you're serving as a farm teamfor for everybody else Team League Team exact.

(48:39):
And And the crazy thing is isthat our farm system, the Tribes
farm system, is probably one ofthe best and nine we shouldn't be doing.
We shouldn't be the farm team toother teams. That's crazy, like
paying the people what their value isfrom what they produced and what they do

(49:00):
on in those games. Look atwhat Look at what Lindor has contributed to
the game of baseball and to thiscity. Don't don't trade it. But
way what are y'all doing. You'regonna have to start. You're gonna have
to start changing your mentality. That'sall. Absolutely, so I'll close.
I'll close with this because we gotless than the minute left. And I

(49:22):
don't mean this to be harsh, but it is what it is. At
the end of the day. I'venever known a broke owner of a sports
team of any kind. And ifyou're not willing to spend the money necessary
to win a World Series, thensell the damn tip. That's all.
