team Gateway to a Cure, andof course Melo obviously will let everybody know
a little bit about his foundation lateron because I like the charable work that

he does for youth kids. Andof course we're gonna talk about Aaron Rodgers,
and last but not least, we'regoing to also talk about concussion nutrition
and TV actrobatic brain injury. Soif that said, okay, Jen,
for those watching us so the firsttime, why don't you give everybody an
overview about Team Gateway to accure howlong you've been doing it, for what
you've accomplished, and how you've beenaffected. I'm giving you a loaded question.

Yes you are, Thanks so muchfor that intro, and yeah,
I've been I wanted to do somethingcoming off the field as an alumni NFL
cheerleader to really make a difference andan impact in the community. My father
was diagnosed with Parkinson's right around thesame time Michael J. Fox went public

with his disease. He battled itfor twenty three years. I just recently
lost my dad a few months agoto the disease. So I've been doing
Team Gateway to a Cure for aboutfive six years, and I really started
it to raise money and awareness forresearch for Michael J. Fox, which
(02:40):
I had raised quite a bit ofmoney over the years for the Fox Foundation,
but through the timing of going througha lot of the different fundraisers that
I had hosted, I had thehonor of meeting Mohammed's widow, Lanni Ali,
out in Scottsdale, Arizona. Andas we all know, Mohammed battled
(03:02):
with Parkinson's himself, But many peopledon't realize or know this behind the scenes
that Mohammed, for instance, wouldhave never been able to light the torch
at the Olympics if it wasn't forand that's just one example. If it
wasn't for his caregivers behind the scenes, his doctor, his children, his
(03:27):
wife, his family, his friends, and the caregiver support makes all the
difference. I think there's something tobe said about it takes a team,
it takes a village. And watchingmy mom be my dad's caregiver as well
as myself as an adult child caringfor my father and seeing the caregiving support
behind the scenes, my dad wasable to be that hero, that person
(03:52):
more than the disease. He wasable to brave through the disease battle of
Parkinson's. And it's not just Parkinson'scaregiver it's anyone who's battling whatever. Fill
in the blank. The caregivers needto be recognized. They don't get enough
support and Mohammed's legacy, he startedthe Mohammad Ali Parkinson's Foundation, which focuses

one hundred percent of their efforts onsupporting the caregiver, the one in the
home and where those resources are outthere to help so the caregiver feels like
they can accomplish caring for their lovedone in the home. And I think
since COVID, many people have shifted. Not that nursing homes aren't for they
(04:43):
are for people. People can usenursing homes if that's what fits your plan.
But if you choose to keep yourloved one in the home, there
are wonderful financial and physical resources outthere to allow your loved one to stay
in the home, so that thereare no prerequisites of being able to visit
(05:06):
your loved one. You can comeand go as you please, and your
loved one is in a familiar placein the home. They hear the sounds
of families, voices and laughter,They smell the food in the home,
they see the sights of pictures onthe wall. That's what they want when
you throw them in a nursing home. And I am not saying nursing home
(05:26):
may not be for your family.It may or may not, depends on
what the situation is. But ifyou have the opportunity with the resources available
in your home, in your hometown, caregiver support is available. So
what we do at Team Gateway toa Cure is we really focus on the
resources that are available for your lovedone in the home to care for the

caregiver. And it's been amazing forthe last couple of years, it's been
really great. You know, beforeI turn over the mount for such everybody

ago, so I understand you knowhow difficult that can be getting used to
your to your new normal. Ihad an opportunity to meet Muhammad Ali and
Lonnie m it's probably I don't seemy kids. It's probably twenty two,
twenty three years ago. He cameout and spent the day with my dad,
and you know, I had tomake sure I grounded up all my

kids. You know, I'm notreally star struck or anything like that,
you know, because I guess becausethe way I grew up, you running
a lot of people. But thisman here, I had to make sure.
I mean, I was starstruck whenI saw him and I didn't realize
that he was as big as hewas. I mean, he's a big
man, but you know, youknow, to watch him on White World
was sports and different things of thatnature and just and it wasn't because of

him being the boxers, because ofhim of the man, the man that
he was. You know, he'sstill on a principle, not that he
defied the government, but he hada belief and he stood for what he
believed in and he was willing togo to jail for it. And so
you know, he was one ofthe most remarkable individuals that I that I
had had the opportunity to to evermeet again. Really really sorry here that

you know that you your father hadto suffer from that that disease. That
it's a terrible disease. And Ipray that they're able to come up with
the cure. You know, Unfortunatelyit might be too late for your dad,
but it'll be right on time forsome other folks. So I pray
that that that does happen and youcontinue that work. I should point out

too, when I was when Iwas a young reporter, and I know
Jen and Melli, you've seen thepictures on Facebook because we're friends on there.
I was an eighteen nineteen year oldkid interview Muhammad and Aily. I
spent a week with him and hadthat famous shot with him putting his fist
right next to my jaw, andthat was pretty cool stuff I got.
I spent a week with him rightwhen he began to have parkinsynseise, and

I'll tell you if there's ever asaying that, it was more ethical pictures
worth a thousand words, and itreally was, knowing that his local and
billary was in sharp decline. Butthe time I spent with Muhammed, we
talked about the George Foreman flight.It was unbelievable. And of course Angelo
Dundee's a good friend of mine too, his former trainers. Every time Angelo's
clients were over at the Allen Park, Jim and North my family, I

just truly got the phone, tellyou want to come out here, and
that led to me meeting Sugary Letardand a view other teams. So pretty
good stuff. And that's why Iknow Mel you're on this for the first
time with Jennifer and I. Itold jen if I have a platform and
you come on anytime you want topromote this and I'm with you one hundred
percent, Jen, to be ableto do this with you together and provide
the platform to get your message out. And I'll do it until I can't

talk anymore and I can't breathe.So I know a lot of people say,
well, why we put that offfor a little while. Wow,
whatever, that's so we're gonna We'regonna do this as long as Jennifer wants
to do it, long as Iwant to do it. You know the
people that we're going to be doing. And I should point out too that
up to this point, Jennifer andI have been doing the broadcast on our
own, but now we're at apoint in this no limits with Jen,

I will be incorporating other individuals intothe program as well. It was just
I want to bring the program upto speace. So we're building our audience,
so we gradually increase the time ofthe show. As I continue to
find different types of people that fitthe mold of what we're trying to do.

All right, well what that said, Well, you know what,
I'm going to wait on Aaron Rodgerslast. Okay, because I want to

stay. Why not? But thisis very important that I want to really
get to. First, Jen,we talk about concussions, nutrition, and
TB. I, let's talk abouttraumatic brain injuries. Okay, I know
that's something that you wanted to talkabout, Jen, But why don't you
give me an idea where what youwere thinking about when you suggest that this
is a topic, and then wecan proceed from there. Well, I

think you know TBI is a lotof people have this deception that our thought
process that you know, football playersare often the ones that have the concussions,
the traumatic brain injuries. But Idon't know if if you many know
this, but football is not thenumber one sport out there. The research,
(11:01):
uh and the statistics show that actuallycheerleading is the number one sport out
there that results in high high concussionand high tv I. And if you
think about all of the stunting andthe throwing up, there's more cheerleaders that
(11:22):
are diagnosed with tv I and concussionsthan there are football players. Uh and
and and what I have a hardtime understanding why these coaches would not take
the the the path that these footballplayers are taking. And in terms of
protecting protective headgear. So football playersout there, they got all the padding
(11:46):
on, and the and the andthe protective headgear. Why would not when
you're in practice sharer, and you'reyou're stunting, and you're being thrown in
the air sometimes fifty two one hundredtimes during in a practice, why you
wouldn't wear protective headgear of some sort. You do it on the bicycle,
(12:07):
you do it on football, youdo it in lacrosse. You've got hockey
players that wear head gear. Imean, it's like when you're bat batting
the foot the baseball you got thebaseball players who wear the head gear.
So I'm just I'm wondering, like, being that it is the number one
sport out there that has high incidentof TBI, why would they not protect
(12:33):
these athletes. Is there some typeof regulatory agency over cheerleadings at the at
the youth level, whether at highschool or at the high school level,
or they're even the collegiate level.Yeah, you know, that's a good
question that I don't I don't know, I don't know who regulates, and
(12:54):
I don't know if it's front,if it's at a you know, an
individual high school, middle school,collegiate level, or if it's something that's
you know, bigger than we know. And the reason why I ask is
because you're you're talking about you know, preventative. So in a lot of
it, you know, you're talkingabout practice obviously, because that's where a
(13:16):
lot of you know, that's that'show you get better. It is by
practicing and in practicing, and that'swhere you're gonna mess up. But what
about, you know, is biggernecessarily better? I mean, do we
have to go up you know,ten fifteen people, you know, can't
we just do a nice little,you know, little little pyramid maybe you
know, two or three you knowpeople up, as opposed to trying to
go you know, keep exceeding whatthe last person has done. I mean
(13:39):
some of the sometimes the stunts,and I know there's some gymnastic qualities to
uh some cheerleading, but maybe that'smore so cheerleading competitions versus you know,
what you did on on Sundays forthe rams. You guys weren't out there
doing backhands, frames and all thatkind of stuff, and we were we
(14:05):
were not acrobatic stars. Missus Frontieriactually many people don't know that she was
actually a Vegas showgirl dancer, andso us her girls. She wanted us
to be, you know, dancers. We were performers out there on the
field, and so we didn't dotoe touches and high kicks and you know,
(14:26):
acrobatic stunts like you were just talkingabout. We we performed as professional
dancers. But this sort of cheerleadingis the competitive cheerleading that you see on
reality shows now, and it's becomeincredibly competitive. And you know, I
guess the common denominator we're talking aboutis what is it going to What are
(14:50):
these athletes going to do to entertainthe masses? These football players, you
guys come out, you know,you're in the most amazing shape. You
you look like the rock in theseyou know, uniforms, and you display
the most amazing bravery on the fieldbattling each other for a w at the
(15:15):
end of the game. And whatare people you you stack these these these
arenas, these stadiums with hundreds ofthousands of people that are watching millions of
people worldwide for this game for whatfor the show? And so you know
it goes along with college at collegeathletes the same football game, you got
(15:39):
the cheerloaders on the sidelines, beingthrown up in basket tosses and doing you
know, all kinds of stunt.But that's not like you said, well,
that's not where you're seeing the concussions. You're not seeing them on field
on game day. You're seeing themat practice. And so, like you
said, what's the preventative you know, precautions very fine line that we need
(16:02):
to draw to say, hey,how can we we you know, combat
some of these TBI injuries so thestatistic numbers can come down. Yeah,
you know, I don't know yetbecause it's always bigger is better, you
know. Yeah, a race cardriver doesn't know he's gone too fast until
he hits the wall and he knows, okay, I need to back it
(16:22):
up a little bit, and he'soff of a little bit, I'm going
too fast. So I mean,when is it nothing enough? Even with
gymnasts, you know, they're alwayspushing the envelope, whether it's figure skaters.
You know, when growing I wasgrowing up, a quad wasn't even
heard of. I mean, doinga triple was something big. You know,
if you did a triple, thatwas that was trying to do something
extra. Now they do triples likeit's nothing now now they're on the quads
(16:45):
and then who knows what they're gonnabe on too after that. Yeah,
yeah, And I think it's thesame way with competitive cheerleading. It's kind
of like the best. It's kindof like the dunk contest. I mean,
once you've seen a dunk once,you can't be repeated again. It's
gotta be you gotta go bigger thenext time. You know, the dunk
contest when I was growing up,was a real big thing. But now
you've seen all those dunks. Now, guys don't you know, jump it
(17:07):
over cars, they jump over people, you know, they they got to
add something to it. I thinkthat's probably the same thing with competitive cheerleadings.
You know, okay, well we'veseen that before, so now what
can you do? You know,you got to go be able to go
bigger than that. So yeah,I get a throne to grow up and
twisted her around five or six times, you know, that will try to
turn around ten times where I don'tknow, but that's a time, you
(17:30):
know, it does get to bevery, very very dangerous. I wouldn't
want to be one of the girls, you know, getting tossed around let's
let's go to the chat room realquickly. I know, Jennifer, she
loves this, probably don't um.Okay, now there you go. She's
an audience, she's a performer,all right. Ralph Williames says, Allo,
everyone, all right, there yougo, and let's go to Candy
Adline. Let's get some really goodstuck jim nets gymnastics practices on Matt's.

Why can't cheerleaders practice these stunts ona matt as well? All right,
oftentimes they do, they do,they do practice on matts. But again,
you know, just the point thatwe were trying to talk, what
we're talking about is it's not regulated, and there's got to be some continuity
across the board, just like theprecautions at football players. You know,
(18:22):
when your coaches they have certain regulatoryparameters that they you know, hockey is
the same way, baseball is thesame way. I just I just wish
hope that you know, they startto implement that in the cheerleading athletics.
No, amazingly enough, you saythat, Jennifer, if anybody would have
told me what I just learned tonight, and I repeat this learned tonight,
(18:45):
that cheerleading would be the one ofthe leading causes of TBI. I never
would have saw that coming. Ireally never wouldn't. I mean that of
all things. But then now youbreak it down in a manner of how
many times to get thrown up inthe air. Sense, you know,
what you see in practice versus whatyou see in the game is indicative what
you see in sports anyhow, there'sa lot of things you don't see on
(19:06):
the inside, and when it comestime to game time, it really doesn't
make any difference. It's just atotally different situation altogether. So I'm glad
you brought that up, and Ishould point out everybody every show that we
have here, I have only onegoal, not only to entertain, but
to inform, which is why I'mvery selective of the shows that we put
on the air. I'm not goingto sit here. I have nothing against
anything this out there. But tome, having been in journalism forty plus
(19:30):
years, if you can't educate inform, you're in trouble. Because my goal
is make sure somebody and as manyas somebody's, but at least someone gets
as a lot smarter in terms ofnow collogis power, and that's my goal.
On every single show that we do, you know, whether it's forts
shows, non shows, we're inbetween. And again, what we have
(19:52):
here, folks, if you haveinjuries, I've had concussions, I've been
in concussion protocol. Let me tellyou it's not fun. I'm feeling with
still dealing with a lot of theeffects of suffering those where you get headaches,
you're sensitive to noise, and I'msure that anybody that has ever had
Ahead Andrew can appreciate with a lotof those symptoms. So anything you two
want to add about TBI that wehaven't talked about, well, one thing
(20:18):
I did want to mention is isif you do have those symptoms, it's
really really important that you recognize andreally cut off all stimulation and that's audible
visuable at every stimulation and go intoa dark room or dark place and allow
the brain to juvenate itself. Weare stimulated in so many different capacities all
(20:44):
the time. There's noise, andthere's visualization, and it's just overstimulating the
brain's inside here. You know,you have to just shut everything down so
the dopamine can be rejuvenated, thestress of the brain can just kind of
calm down. I am now workingwith Tom House on a documentary called House
(21:07):
of Arms. And I'm sure youguys know. Tom House is very well
known in the quarterback world in theNFL. He's worked with Brady for years.
He's the reason Brady's Brady. He'sa biomechanic guru. He breaks the
arm down biomechanically and works with MajorLeague Baseball pitchers as well as quarterbacks.
(21:29):
He's working with Mac Jones now.He's worked with Drew Brees. After Drew
Brees came back from that injury,Tom House worked with him and got him
back to, you know, makingsome really good numbers on the field.
But Tom House unfortunately has Parkinson's andI have had the honor to meet him.
But more importantly, he's like afather to me. He's like family.
(21:53):
And I've been working with him forthe last year on this movie called
House of Arms, and it's adocumentary that the director has follows him around
through the life of what he goesthrough behind the scenes, and what he
has done to so many athletes inbaseball and football and have created some of
(22:18):
the most amazing athletes of all time. Is now using the same kind of
therapies and treatments to battle the biggestdisease of his life. And one thing
that Tom has done consistently is hetravels a lot. And I call them
the travel caregivers, the coaches thatare traveling with him when he's putting on
(22:44):
these youth programs and traveling to collegesand NFL camps to work with these quarterbacks
and pitchers. They have his back. They can see it when Tom has
had enough, or he's becoming lazyor discombobulated, or it's over stimulation.
They'll say, all right, itdoesn't matter what time of the day it
(23:07):
is, they'll say time, it'stime, like you need to shut everyone
out, and he will go awayinto a quiet room and be completely still
and shut off all stimulations so hecan rejuvenate the dopamine in his brain.
Because stress is the worst thing thatyou can do to an injury or something
(23:30):
that's your brain. It's diseased inthat capacity, and so I think it's
really important that if you are sufferingfrom any of this, any kind of
symptoms when it has to do withthe brain, is to recognize that and
allow yourself permission to say it's okayfor me to shut things off like it's
okay to say, you know what, I'm struggling, Like, if I
(23:52):
don't shut the world off right now, give me five, ten, twenty
minutes, whatever your formula is,I'm in be a better version of who
I am because of it. Andso it's it's just interesting how many people
just feel like they have to keepgoing on and on and on because they
have this badge of honor or warthat they have to like prove that they're
(24:17):
invincible. Well, you probably are, but you'll be even more invincible if
you take a break. You know. Well, you know what, Jennifer,
I have to mention. You know, I'm the biggest example of that.
My wheels are turning all the time, and I'll tell you what,
I can't shut it down. Idon't know why, I just can't,
you know, when my wheels areturning. Now, I'm trying as hard
(24:37):
as I can to back off alittle bit, and sometimes I'm able to
do that with some subscribe prescribe asleeping medication a little which is helping me
a little bit. Great, Yeah, trying. I didn't say I was
okay. There's a difference, butno recognize it. Scott. It's really
good that you recognize it, andhow awesome for you to be able to

talk about that, because there's manyothers that are out there that are going
through the exact same thing, andI think it's so brave for you to
be able to say, you knowwhat, like I have moments in my
days where I'm struggling, Like,if I don't shut the world off,
I'm not going to be the bestversion of me, Jen You know what,
(25:21):
I'm just bad at it. That'sall there is too I am.
But then again, when you're inour industry, in the media, and
I'm not afraid of mat Hey,I listen, I'm far from perfect.
I'll be the first of all anybodythat, but I am so far from
perfect. But when you're in themedia business, which is a fluent industry
where you're content your wheels, you'realways looking to get better. Every business
has this, So I'm not justpicking on the media for safe but I'm
you know, I'm always looking todo better. I'm a perfectionist, okay,
(25:44):
and I will to me, everyshow in my mind has to be
at ten or I feel it's afailure. Now that's probably a bad attitude,
but you know what, that's agreat you have high expectations idea.
That's awesome of you. Yeah,I do. That's awesome. But when
it comes to sleeping, you know, I mean, who knows it might
have another you know, you haveto get another advanced script at some point
(26:04):
or another or But the reality isis, you know what, I don't
care. I've always liked to jokearound Morse and nine lives. I have
to make the most of the oneI have. When the time comes,
i'll be sleeping. I won't.It doesn't have to be complicated. You
could take five or ten minutes inyour day and just shut the world up.
It doesn't have to be you know, a thirty forty an hour a
(26:26):
minute, you know, hour anda half nap. You know, it's
just something to just okay, recoupand I visualization. And I'm sure Malkols
speaks very highly about this is coach. He's been coached for years. He's
been drilled into his brain. Youknow, you're coached as an athlete to
recognize when you're when you've hit awall, and in order to perform at
(26:51):
such a high elite level, ifyou don't allow yourself the permission to back
yourself off when you're and then youstart getting sloppy, You're going to continue
to be sloppy. That's when injurieshappen. Well, I'll tell you a
Mel has been on me for along time. I don't have prompt telling
this. Mel has been telling meWayne on that caffeine it's killing you.
(27:15):
So what I've actually done now,though, Mel, this is the first
updake that you have, is I'vegot this green tea citrus diet stuff,
which is better than what I wasdoing before. So I figured that's not
stressing me out as much as whatI was doing. Is it the means
all end? But I got myrunning back here, who was running on
me and leaning on me every singleweak water man. Water is the best
(27:38):
thing for you, the water.But this is a progress towards the water
direction. And when I always jokearound about my medical situation, you know
everybody talks about the time max watch, where TIMEX takes a looking and keep
on ticking. I take a lickingand keep on talking. So there you
go. Addition, I have tosay water is absolutely the best, but
(28:00):
also if you can add a littleextra to your water. One one example
would would I do is I puta big, huge stock pot on the
stove, fill it up with water, and I put I just get ginger
root, you know, grind itin there, some tumeric root, grind
it in there, a couple oflemons, you know, squeeze it,
(28:22):
put it in there, maybe acinnamon stick for flavor, bring it to
a boil, cool it off,and I'll just drink that for the day,
you know, half of my waterbottle and then half of it with
regular water. But you know,inflammation is something that is becoming more and
more popular and talked about, andnutrition plays a huge role in the inflammation
(28:48):
and going into brain health, thoseare three really great ingredients to help not
just gut health, but also brainhealth. Tumeric, ginger, and lemon.
Your body's pH is a seven pointzero, a perfect right, and
most waters aren't a perfect pH.So you want to have you know,
(29:11):
we have s acidic and we havealkaline, and you want to have a
balance of the both. And bydrinking your you know, water that's in
a perfect pH balance. Lemon isa perfect way to bring the pH of
your water to a perfect pH balanceof seven point Oh most people think,
oh, well, aren't lemons acidicthey are, but it doesn't work that

way in the body. So lemons, tumeric, and ginger are three great
ingredients. Put them in water,Boil it, throw it in your water
bottle. Half and half fifty fiftya good rule of thumb. Half of
your body weight and ounces. I'mone hundred and ten pounds, so half
of one hundred and ten is whatsixty fifty sixty ounces of water a day

a good rule of thumb. Yeah, I'm mean a hundred ounces. I
drink a hundred ounces a day,so you're two hundred pounds yeps of stale
melts. I'll tell everybody you gottadrink. You gotta drink half your body
weight ounces. That's boy. Everyday. I've been doing it for I
don't know how many years. Itake a jug with me to work every
day. I cut up nice mightput some cucumber in there I put.

I mean, I put gender init before. I've never put the nice
free Scott. You got two peopleon here trying to push you little cinnamon
stick for flavor. Well, Iwas during the pandemic. I put on
a lot of weight, so getsome weight off me too. So I
(30:45):
mean I've great it gets rid of. Lemons are a great way to flush.
You drink that half of your bodyweight in about three days. I
guarantee it. You're gonna You're gonnaget rid of all of that sub continuous
inflammation. It just and it makesyou feel so much better about yourself,
Like why wouldn't you? Yeah,I mean I used to be and all

day without eating. Yeah, Anda lot of times what my patients are

clients that will talk to me like, oh, I get low blood sugar
or you know I need to eat. It's it's your insulin levels are spiking
and you need to retrain your bodyup, yes, to feed off your
fat for energy. And so youknow, when you are sick, what

do you often do? The bodynaturally shuts not hungry. And what happens
when you stop eating, Your bodystarts fighting the virus the thing that is
not normal inside the body. Sohow do you think fasting would benefit the
body? If you do it consistentlyall the time, it's constantly in a

fighting war, it's the best thingfor you. Plus, we're kind of
built to fast. If you thinkwe're hunters, and gatherers naturally correct.
Back in three store times, theydidn't have Krogers to go to and stock
up on food and different things ofthat nature, and going there and buy
some chips and dip and all thatand pop and all that stuff. They
didn't have all that protein when youkilled protein, right, and that might

We know Zach Wilson right now iscurrently the QB one, and we know

that Tim Boyle is a backup.There's no think any way that Jets are
gonna last due all year. Butyou know, we'll throw it up to
Mel first and we'll have Jennifer chimein after that about Aaron Rodgers and what's
going on at Fiasco. I mean, it's I feel bad for Solo because
I think management. I was talkingto Coach about this. Yes, I
think management did him a disservice,but not really having a viable option in

the event. In the event thatAaron Rodgers went down, they a lot
of Mike White, And we talkedabout this, say a lot of Mike
White to get out of there andgo down to Miami, which I don't
know why they would have allowed thatto happen. We know who Tim Boyle
is. He was playing with theLions, who are a couple of years
and we know what his starting recordis and all touchdown the interception ratio is

how does that make me feel?Doesn't make me feel very wanted.

to kind of start kind of questioningmyself. So, regardless of what we
see this provider that we may seefrom Zach Wilson on television, his confidence
has to be shot because no confidencecomes from doing and doing things over and

over and over again and succeeding indoing those things, you know, doing
it and succeeding. He hasn't doneit very very well, and so he
can't have a whole lot of confidence, and the best thing for him was
for Aaron Rodgers to come in thereand give him an opportunity to learn from
somebody like Aaron number one, andthen just kind of rebuild his confidence level

as well. And so now thisis the last thing that anybody expected to
happen, obviously, because they didn'treally prepare for it by putting somebody else
on the roster that could be aviable option at number two. I feel
bad for the coach there because obviouslyhe's playing for his job, and I
feel bad for the players because theyput a lot of it not into this
obviously. You know, off seasonworkouts, they really thought that they're gonna

have a chance to compete, andthen four plays into the thing, you
know, Aaron Rodgers goes down andnow you're back up with Mike White.
Now, you know, unfortunately,coaches are gonna have to earn their money.
Your quarterback coach, offensive coordinator,he's gonna have to coach this guy
up. They're gonna have to gethim ready to be able to go out
there and play the position at acompetent level. I'm not saying he has
to be Aaron Rodgers, but heneeds to be able to play the position

at a competent level where they're notdropping eight nine guys down in the box
and daring him to throw because ifthat, if I'm a defensive coordinator,
that's what I'm gonna do. Weknow that they can run the ball,
well, we know they have atwo headed monster. They have two running
backs that can run the ball veryvery well. I'm gonna make They're not
gonna beat me running. The onlyway they're gonna beat me is if Zach
Wilson beats me. And if hebeats me, I can live with that.

Do you think that they can smellhis incompetence, like his insecurity?

of things that they need to do. He needs to experience those types of

So mel let me ask you this. I know Rogers is injured. You

know, he didn't rupture the achillesall the way he was walking at it,
so he tore it or you know, sprained it pretty bad. Did
he have surgery or not? Idon't know, but he did he uptured,
He had surgery. He totally ruptured. Hmm. Okay, because I

think Kobe stopped some free throws afterwards. Okay, So my question is being
that I understand he just said surgeryor whatever, but do you think that
he would uh that Zach would benefithaving Rogers kind of mentor him at this

Yeah, most the most part,yes, But at that position,
that's a different type of position.A lot of times just asked, not

team for a reason. There's somethingin there they need to need to go

and find it. Sometimes they makemistakes, but yeah, the last thing
might be wrong. All I'm sayingis at this point, we don't want
fear to be driving the factors.You know, the last thing that any
organization wants to do is admit theymade him mistake on the second or third

pick in the draft. That's toughto swallow, it really is. So
they're giving him every opportunity Jen andmel as you all know, to make
sure that they get the pick right, no matter how they have to smooth
it mas size it over. Theywere hoping Rogers would have been that way.
I'm still hoping that Rogers spending timewith Wilson anyhow, even though he's
not on the field, to tryto mentor him anyhow. And you know

what, Rogers wants to do it. So it's not a matter of that.
Now, let me ask you astory that his teammates also need to
be believing in him too. Well, I mean, right now they have
no choice. But I mean you'llyou'll know, I mean you'll look at
you know when the defense is ballingout in the offense can't do what they

need to do. Look, lookthe game that they won, the defense
put him in the position to winthe game. I mean they had four
turno turnovers on Josh Allen and thenthe punt returner he did a walk off
punt return. So the defense wonthat game for him the first time.
Now you look at this game here, he wasn't very efficient. Yeah,

they talk about it, trust me, they and yeah, they it'd be
great. But they don't have awhole lot of confidence in him. I
can tell you that right now.They don't because they were with him last
year. And then they were alsothe same people who were lobbying to get
anybody to come there, Aaron Rodgers, whoever, whatever quarterback was available,
anybody. They were lobbying on socialmedia to get somebody to come over there.

I thought he was smallest in college. I've watched him play a few
games. I was never really impressed. Yes, he's athletic, he can

So a few years ago, wewere trying to figure out a way
to honor my dad. My brotherand I trying to figure out what something
that we could do to honor himand continue his legacy. And he was
a real big person on education.So we didn't reinvent the wheel. We
found somebody who was doing something thatwe thought was pretty neat. But it
was pretty neat, and actually oneof our teammates was doing it and he
(55:38):
was also doing the same thing upin Charlotte. So we went up to
Charlotte to see it and we said, okay, this is something that we
could duplicate, that we can do. So we got with the person who
originally started this down in Houston,Texas, and you know, he gave
us his blessing and gave us thepeople to contact to help us go ahead
(55:58):
and get it started. Because againtrying to reinvent the wheel, we're just
trying to duplicate the wheel because wethought it was something that was really neat
and something that was very much soneeded, and we were able to what
it is is we have a campfor kids who did not receive a Division
one scholarship where they have an opportunityon one day to showcase their talents in
(56:20):
front of Division two, Division threeand Naia schools And it's like a little
combine on that day, and theyhave an opportunity to talk to a different
bunch of different schools. You thinkwe had thirty schools here, we had
another thirty schools I think up inMichigan. We had about one hundred and
some of my kids here and onehundred and some of my kids up in
Michigan. And this one morning weasked them. You know, we get
(56:45):
some volunteers to come out there andhelp us for about three or four hours,
and these kids go through different typesof drills and have an opportunity to
get scholarships from these schools or grantneeds from these particular colleges because we know
there's money out there. The moneyis out there. I guess that sometimes
the kids and the universities don't getput together. So we'll have the universities
(57:07):
all come down here and work.We do what everything, everything that we
have to do to make sure thatwe have some kids out there and they'll
they'll be set up afterwards after theydo the do the combine type drills,
they'll be set up and their littletents, but there, you know,
with their university colors and all thatkind of stuff, and have people in
there and they'll talk to them abouttheir university and you know, they'll write
(57:30):
down with guys that are interested inhave them come on over and their parents
are right there with them going throughthe process. Kids that you know,
I've gotten, gotten scholarships and anopportunity to continue to play football, but
more importantly, an opportunity to continuetheir education because we know college is expensive
right now, but there's money outthere. There's money out there, and
(57:52):
their schools looking for kids, goodkids, and these are good kids.
And so that's the thing that wehad been doing, women done in that,
and in a few years, Ithink because COVID, we kind of
stopped and now they still do themin Houston. But we're gonna start back
doing him here sometime. I don'tknow if it's going to be this coming
(58:14):
year, two twenty four, twotwenty five, but we'll get back into
doing that as well. Nice.So what what is the name of it
is? The down here. It'scalled the Georgia Showcase of the Michigan it's
called the Motor City Showcase. Nice. I love that. That is such
a great concept, and what agreat way to honor your dad and the
