On today's of Record, we aretalking all things Barbie, a little bit
about Twitter's X, baby names, snow White, and UFOs all on today's
episode of A Record. Of Recordis a podcast focus on the marketing and
(00:30):
advertising industry from the perspective of industryexpert Joe Clements. Joe Clements is a
co founder of Strategic Digital Services,a digital marketing firm based in Tallahassee,
Florida and founded in twenty fourteen.Welcome back to the Record podcast. Joe
(00:55):
is currently some thousand feet in theair right now on an airplane. So
today you have me the host,Kirsten, and my wonderful co host Annabella,
Jamie and Tori. So hey, guys, say, we have a
lot to cover today because boy,we've been off the grid for a little
(01:15):
bit. It has been very busyaround here. And one thing this office
has been dying to talk about anddoesn't stop talking about is the Barbie movie.
Hi, Barbie? Has everyone hereseen Barbie? Yes? How do
we feel about Barbie? Love it? Ten out of ten? I thought
it was great. It was amazing. What made Barbie so popular? We're
(01:40):
all gen z. I'm a millennial. It was insane. How I mean
I went to the movie theater andit was like everyone was dressed up.
It was incredible, like to seeeverybody so into it. I mean I
dressed up, dressed up when Iwent to see it. What made everyone
want to dress up? Like? What? But made you all like,
(02:00):
so you remember the Minion movie whenlike all the boys dressed up in tuxedos
and when to go see the Minionmovie? It was okay, well that
was a trend, so I'm assumingit's the exact same thing. But for
girls, it was like our thing. I think also just because we grew
up with Barbie that people were like, oh no, like this is a
movie about our childhood, Like let'sall like celebrate as like women and like
(02:22):
come together, dress up and havefun with it. You know. It
was very nostalgic. Yeah. Ithink it's the only Barbie movie that's out
there, at least like new one, So maybe that became popular. Well,
I grew up with all the cartoonBarbies, like there were the old
old ones. Yeah that were, but I get what you mean. It's
like the only one that's like areal live action kind of Barbie vibe.
(02:46):
Did everyone here play with Barbies?Growing up? Yes, is it you're
your favorite toy? Or was likeit? Just like it was just kind
of there favorite. I also hadbrats, though I did have brat stalls.
I liked Polly Pocket better Barbie.Oh, okay, making a Polly
Pocket movie? Stop? Is itlive action? I don't know. I
(03:06):
think so actually, because they werekind of on the spectrum they were after
this movie came out. I don'tknow who owns Polly Pocket. Is it
also Mattel or I don't actually thinkit is, but let me see.
Okay, Well, ever since Barbiecame out, there was news about Polly
Pocket coming out with a movie too. It is Mattel. Oh my gosh,
So they were thinking about making amovie about Polly Pocket. That would
(03:28):
be great. So Tory, yourdreams are answered. That is yeah.
I'm going to go see it andI will dress up for this one.
So I have an article here fromMorning Console that they wrote about Barbie as
a marketing tool this movie. Imean, I don't know if you all
agree or not, but this moviewas the most well marketed movie I think
I've seen in decades. There's acollaboration for Barbie for everything. Right now,
(03:53):
I get a ruggable for rugs. That's like Barbie theme, like the
collaborative Barbie. Yeah, what arehas anyone else seen any weird like Barbie
collabs? I mean Cycle bar hasBarbie merch. Oh my god, really
have Barbie merch. We just don'thave it in the studio right now,
but online you can get Barbie March. We have Barbie themed spin rides b
RB. I'm literally going on cyclebar So yeah, it's everywhere. It's
(04:17):
actually absolutely everywhere. I saw ColdStone has a Barbie ice cream they made
stop it right. Yeah, it'slike a certain like swirl with certain sprinkles
and like glitter on it. It'sI mean, it's insane that all these
brands that they pitched and they werelike, yes, I've also talked about
Barbie adjacent marketing is what I'm callingit is that brands that don't have a
(04:41):
partnership with Barbie are just going likethe pink sale and they make it look
like Barbie and you're like, oh, okay, like Barbie core almost is
smart. Still, that's good. It's genius. So this article on a
Morning consult says that the awareness ofBarbie skyrocket in the last three months US
before its release and July twenty first. It has said that they did a
(05:04):
survey with US adults who have heardsomething about the movie or read something about
the movie jumped forty five percent inApril and seventy five percent in late July.
It also said that nearly half ofthe partnerships and people seeing it was
(05:27):
adults that were seventy two percent genZ and that they were you aware of
it and going to see it.Eighty percent of US adults were aware of
the efforts that they said they likedthe Barbie promotions, like they liked the
ads that they were getting in stuff, Like eighty percent of people who were
like I liked that and it wasan ad. That's crazy. Yeah,
I feel like just it's all aboutfeel good, good vibes. There's nothing
(05:50):
like controversy about it. There's nonegativity. It's just all feel good pink
happiness that I feel like everyone justlike loves to see especially like I mean,
I love it, like my generation, like we love the pink,
we love the puppy. Like, yeah, I don't feel like it matters
(06:11):
like how old you are, whateveryour age is. Gender, I mean,
everyone can appreciate some form of Barbie. Yeah, I think that,
especially coming out of COVID movies thatare like feel good, happy, funny
movies, are going to be havinga really good like run because nobody really
wants to go be sad anymore.Like we've been sad for some years.
Like I mean it, we livein a crazy world. Like it's nice
(06:33):
to do escapism for like you know, an hour or two and go to
Barbie Land and like catch up withKen and Alan Alan. So they did
a survey on the awareness, likeI had said, and how it surged
in the last three months. Whowhat generation do you think was at the
(06:54):
bottom of the pack for awareness onall of it. I don't know.
I feel like older generations. Itis an older generation baby boomers. Surprisingly,
no Boers were actually really into theBarbie movie. It was jen xers,
who are, oh gosh, what, what's what's the year for Jenner?
(07:17):
Yeah, it's like h seventies tolike early eighties. I oh my
gosh. Yeah, not old.I I apologized for saying that. For
it's children of the nineteen seventies andsome of the nineteen eighties, so not
particularly old. I would say probablylike middle aged. That's like my parents
(07:39):
age range generation. That's crazy. It's not to say they weren't excited about
it, but they just like didn'tthey just cared the least about it.
You know that is funny you saythat because I saw a lot of tiktoks
of like older older couples going tosee the movie together and like walking out
of the theater holding hands and beingall cute and awesome, And I was
(08:03):
like, Wow, it's nice tosee like all generations can really like gain
a lot from this movie. Whodid you Which generation do you think liked
it the most and was most awareof it? I think my generation,
yeah, gen zen be even millennialsin it, and it was it was
pretty neck and neck, but justby a little bit. Do you think
(08:26):
that they're going to make more movieslike this? But like out of toy
brands and stuff. We talked aboutPolypocket just a second ago. What would
be if you had to pick anothertoy like we have a Lego movie,
Like what what what toy would youwant to see? Hot Wheels? I
feel it could be cool. Ididn't think about they didn't already made one
(08:48):
that's like a two thousand movie.Yeah, then the movie's actually really good.
It's fun. Hey, where's thatBrats movie? Did they never do
Brats? Okay? Then in theBarbie movie, I guess you know those
four girls that were being at thetable, we're supposed to represent the Brats
dolls. That's so funny. SoI would love to see like switch Brats
(09:09):
are making a comeback, Like Iget their ads on my TikTok and I
think they're like rebranding and coming outwith the dolls again or like some sort
of show. For some reason, when I played Barbies, like there was
like all the dolls were like included. The Barbies were like the adults,
and then like you know, Ihad like the Kelly doll, that's the
kid whatever, Polly Pockets could bekids, but Brats were teenagers always in
(09:33):
my line. That makes sense.I don't know why that's how we played
it, but like it was likea hierarchy. And then then my scene
dolls were kind of like in betweenthe like a doll and teenager thing.
That was how we like ranked allof I don't know, it makes sense.
Yeah, that's so funny. Youknow what I had, I had
the pregnant Barbie. You have differentbabies, so I could like switch the
(09:56):
like the color of the baby.It was so weird. Oh that is
so crazy. No, I don'tsay. It's probably worth some money.
I know it would have been great. Oh my gosh, that they should
make a movie on the board gamecandy Land. Yes, that would be
(10:16):
so fun. Yo. They couldeven make it a little spooky if they
wanted to throw some like yeah orin there or something. That is a
great idea. I would I lovedcandy Land. That was like my I
think that's a lot of everybody's firstboard game they learned to play because you
don't have to actually read anything. You just need to tell colors. Yeah.
Yeah, Speaking about Midge and thepregnant Barby, you know, we
(10:43):
were briefly talking about you know, baby names and how like boy names never
really go out style, like there'salways the Roberts, like James, a
lot of like the biblical like malenames like stay pop, the Youler forever,
like James is always going to soundlike a good name. But for
girls, we don't really have thatlike the most popular name for girls,
(11:05):
which is like every decade, likeand so I wanted to read to y'all.
Actually here they're talking about how GretaGerwig has inspired baby names. Now,
so Barbie is gonna be like amore popular name, Like people are
gonna be naming their kids like Barbieor Skipper or Midge or Alan. So
(11:33):
that's cool. Yeah, I'm lookingat this article here, so like even
Maddie for like Metel, I guessit's like the one that could be making
a comeback. Kelly. Yeah,so I think that's like really interesting.
So Ken, which is weird,Like I don't know, Ken sounds like
such an old name to me.But we're talking about how male names they
(11:58):
just go out they don't. Sohere I'm gonna read'all some of the names
that we have here most popular babynames in America, and so I'm gonna
start with the boys. These nameshave been since the turn of the century,
so early nineteen hundreds two up totoday. Robert James, David,
(12:18):
Michael, Jacob, Noah, Liam. I think I know, like yeah,
yeah, I know all of them. Yeah, I know of someone
with that name. I know fatherslike that, I know grandpa's like that,
and I know kids like that arejust walking around schools today like name
that. It's crazy. But forgirls it's totally different. One of these
is blacked out. I don't knowif it's like a bad name or something.
(12:41):
It literally has like a censor baron it, So I'm not sure
which one that was, but itgoes Mary censored, Lisa, Jennifer,
Jessica, Ashley, Emily, Isabella, Sophia, Emma, and Olivia.
Well. I do have a lotof friends with all of those names too.
Yeah, I see, I like, Lisa to me is so like
(13:03):
a gen X name. Mary.Yeah, I have an aunt Lisa,
Yeah exactly, And yeah, Iwould say the other ones. Uh,
Emily is a weird name for methat I think is going to be like
an old name in the coming nextfew years, Like it's gonna be like
(13:24):
a like a Doris, Like You'rejust gonna sound so old. I don't
know why I think it is too. I think it's less popular nowadays,
but like I know people around myage who there's a lot of Emily's like
our age. I would say,yes, there's a ton I know a
ton ton ton of Emily's. ButI do think there is this resurgent of
(13:45):
like the vintage name come back.I think names after one hundred years start
to get popular again. But Iknow every single girl has a list of
names that if they ever had akid, like they keep a running list.
Would anyone like to share? Iwanted to say thing, Okay,
sorry your head Barbie. How peopleare naming the kids after the Barbie movie.
I don't know if you know whoTricia Patis is. I was gonna
(14:07):
say that she named her baby MalibuBarbie God and filled her room with Malibu
Barbie Barbie dolls. I remember watchingthat her vlog when she did her nursery
tour, so I don't know.At first, I was like, who
would name their kid Malibu Barbie? But I love the name Malibu, and
I feel like you could go somany different ways with it, Like you
(14:28):
could go Mau like sup Mau,Mallie Boo, Malle, like it's so
cool. I really like Malibu,I do do. I think that's cute
like nicknames. Honestly, Like ifI ran into a kid in there it
was my kid Malibu, like Iwould it wouldn't like be like what the
heck like, I'd just be like, Okay, does anyone have any names
(14:48):
that they'd like to share? Ihonestly have a lot of more like boy
names over girl names. Some ofthe boy names that I love is like
Wesley or Weston, but like callinghim west Yeah, I don't know,
something like that sounds cute, likeI had Wesley James or Weston Blake.
I even have the middle names.I just know for sure, I do
not want to do a family name. I don't know why. Yeah,
(15:11):
I just want to be different.I'm different. I agree with that.
I'm I think you should be yourown person. Yeah. I have one
name in mind that I'm saving for. It could be either boy or girl,
and it's Emerson. I think that'sthe name. And I would love
to have a daughter and name herEmerson because then she could go like Emmy
(15:33):
or m Yeah, and then fora boy Emerson because it just sounds like
a guy named too. I hada girl I used to work with name
her daughter Emerson. I love.Yeah, I would say probably Stella.
I like that name. That's agood one. It's a good one that's
making I think I come back toIt's like a little bit on that vintage
(15:54):
like, Yeah, I love Stella. I love Olivia. I think those
names are like so cute. Andfor boy I don't know, I like
Caleb no, No, that's interesting. Yeah, I was just I was.
I was interested to see if anyonehad those like older names for like
guys on their on their list,Like I think I like the name James
(16:15):
a lot. I've always thought it'sjust a solid name. It never goes
out of style and thanks guys,Jamie's like, I know James, Yeah,
anyone else have any other I alsohad for boys Silas. I feel
like that's kind of an older andAnder's I feel like I've never heard that
(16:37):
before. I don't know. Ilike, I think it's different unique.
I love the name for a girllike Vera, Like oh, it's like
sounds so like fashion ey, butlike it's it's old. It's like,
I think that's such like a nicename. It's different, Like I don't
know. Names have started v Orlike cool, Victoria, Yastoria, it's
(16:59):
Victoria. But boy names with THEEare so hard besides like Victor. Yeah,
I can't Vincent if your name isVincent, I'm so sorry. I'm
really being grooved today. I'm sosorry. Yeah, I like the name
Clementine. Oh, Joe, thatis Joe's favorite name? Is it really?
(17:21):
Yeah? Joe wants to name hisdaughter next daughter, Clementine Clements c
c please write to our take itin box and tell him why that is
such a bad idea. Okay,So another thing that we had experienced while
(17:41):
we were kind of on a hiatushere was aliens are real. I everyone's
taking it so like whatever. Ithink. It's so like it just speaks
to like where we are as asociety, Like things are so like insane
that people are just like okay, yeah, like he cares at this point.
I mean they came out with likeyou can see your dreams now,
(18:04):
oh whoa, but that thing. So now I'm like if all this new
technology is real, I mean it'skind of just another thing. Yeah yeah,
I think so too. And likealiens have obviously been here for like
years now. I think we allkind of like in the back of our
minds like knew that and now they'resaying it. But it's just like,
Okay, we've moved on from that, Like we're good. We have bigger
(18:26):
fish to fry anyway. I can'tafford my house. Joe made a good
comment. He was like, it'sno different than than finding like a new
fish at the bottom of a trench, Like it kind of it does feel
that way. It's like oh cool, but like doesn't really like impact my
normal day or anything. So nowshow me their spaceship and their body,
(18:49):
I guess, and then maybe I'llbe more invested. Yeah, some of
the accounts they were like you know, speaking to is like you know,
they said there was like over athousand pilots that have confirmed seeing like UFOs
and everything. Pilots always are seeingcrazy things when they're flying. But there
was one thing where I guess therewas like a crash or something and people
(19:10):
found like bodies and they won't reallydescribe what they were or how they looked,
but they said it was like horrificallytraumatizing that like they are like the
people that found the wreckage or whateverwas just like completely like horrified. So
I don't know what that means, and they won't really tell us anymore that.
Yeah, I'm good. I thinkI experience enough eyeball bleached moments.
(19:33):
I just I can't like, Idon't know, I just it really doesn't
matter. I won't believe it tillI see it. I don't know.
Yeah. Yeah, some of youlike taking my like alien friend to publics
and being like this is a chickentender sub I know, be like I
already know another thing that I wouldn'thave anything else on Aliens no U.
(20:00):
Another thing that happened on our hiatuswas Alon Musk decided, you know,
I don't want to be Twitter anymore. I just want to be X.
So now we have to refer toTwitter like we did when Prince changed his
name to a symbol and we werelike the artists formally known as Prince.
Now we're like the platform formerly knownas Twitter. I missed the bird,
bring back to bring back the bird? Justice for the bird. Do you
(20:22):
guys think this is a good marketingtactic? Like the outrage he I mean
you on must to me seems likehe just likes to make people mad and
gets attention and he likes that.Do you think it works. I think
more people are annoyed about it thananything. Like I think for something that
was like so unnecessary, like whychange it? Like Twitter has been Twitter
(20:44):
forever. That's like changing Instagram's name, Like Instagram has been rebranded a couple
of times where it like gotta updatedlogo or same with YouTube or a new
fresh style. But for something likethe brand name that we've known and loved
for years. It's kind of like, what was the thinking process behind it?
Is all I want to know.Yeah, I don't think there really
(21:07):
is much. I think he justwants to get people talking to and people
like talking about him. He justwants the attation. I feel like,
so we should stop talking about himright now. So let's cut it.
We are a marketing podcast. Wewill recover. We will we will cover
it even if we disagree with it. But you know, shortly like after
(21:29):
you know, Twitter was taken overby lawn and in the middle of July,
you know, Mark Zuckelberg was like, I'm making threads. Has anyone
here even done threads? Yet?I don't know what it is. I'm
very confused. I'm very confused,and I feel old and I don't like
it, Like I don't like whenI don't understand something on social media.
Then I feel like out of theloop. That is funny because I think
the people that use threads are actuallylike older people. Surprisingly, I think
(21:52):
that it's like the Twitter that likemy mom could understand. Really yeah,
she like she doesn't use it,but like I feel like she would like
get it better. I've put acouple of different things on there gets no
attention, but same as my tweetson the platform formally known as Twitter.
But there's an article here from Gosh, there's a lot of articles writing on
(22:17):
it. Actually right now that thenumber of people on Threads, which was
supposed to be a direct competitor tox formally known Twitter threads, is already
said the users have dropped by eightypercent. Do you think that Facebook or
Meta could even make a platform thatchallenged Twitter like that would be good because
(22:40):
this is what they essentially tried todo, is like make a new platform
that would get people off Twitter andthey would just stay on the meta platforms.
I again, just don't see thepoint in all honesty. Like Twitter,
I mean has been around forever,Like I feel like it has such
a big following in such a hugefan base where people literally their livelihood is
(23:03):
being like a Twitter creator or contentmade for Twitter. So I feel like
trying to completely switch is just it'sgoing to throw people off their groove and
how they create and follow their creators. You know, it's just going to
change a whole lot of audience thatdoesn't really need to be changed. It's
(23:25):
insane to me that Twitter has hadso many moments this year where they've been
like, you know, all right, we're gonna put the check marks in
and people were like, I amnot paying to be verified verified, what
about my name? What about mylikeness? Anyone can pretend to be me?
Blah blah blah, I'm not comingback. Didn't really do a whole
lot. People still stayed on Twitter, and now they're like rebranded to X
(23:48):
and people like that's it, I'mout, and they're still there. Like
I think it is Like what yousaid is people have been on Twitter for
so long at this point, makingthat transition as a consumer is so hard.
Like I mean you even think aboutyour favorite products you buy, like
like to get you to like changeup your like shampoo you've maybe been using
(24:11):
for years, or like the samedetergent you've been using for years, It
like takes like an considerable amount ofwork for you to change your mind,
like when you're going to purchase that. I think Twitter is and Threads are
the same kind of example of it. Like it's just gonna take a lot,
And you would think just with therebranding of Twitter to X that people
(24:33):
would leave and use Threads but likeclearly that's not happening. So I feel
like Meta probably does not have thechance in the future to like build like
a competing product to Twitter, justbecause like we're seeing right now that it's
like not working for them. Yeah, when like Twitter's kind of on its
downfall because of Elon, but peopleare staying just because, like you guys
said, like they've been using itfor years and they're not going to change
(24:56):
now exactly do you think Elon willever change it back to the bird or
do you think that would be backtrackingtoo much and he would just like look
like an idiot? Or do wethink this is a publicity start, Like
is he just doing it for likea few months and then he's going to
change it back? Like is thatwhat we think he's doing. I can
see that happening. He did thatkind of earlier with the dogecoin thing,
(25:19):
like he changed the like logo tothe dogedog for like a week or something
like that, and then he putit back to the bird. So I'm
wondering, like, is he goingto double down and just keep it X
or is he going to like youknow, a month or two you'd just
be like, Okay, everyone.Everyone doesn't care anymore. It's going to
go back to the bird. Idon't know, I don't know, wait
(25:41):
and see, I guess you know. Any other closing thoughts, We got
any other fun things going on thisweek? Well, we have a scoop
on snow White. Oh yes,we talk about we can do this really
quick, don't have to. Wehave plenty of times. Okay, beautiful.
(26:04):
So I don't know if you guysknow, Disney is very well known
for remaking their classics trying to revampit with a new style. You know,
Little Mermaids, Cinderella, all beautifulclassics that we know and love that
have been remade, and they've beenremade very well. They tend to keep
the same characters, the same plot, the same you know, consistency.
(26:27):
So everything so far has been reallygood with Disney's remakes, and snow White
has been remade how many times Iswear there's like one hundred snow White remakes.
There's like mirror Mirror, there wasthe one with the uh oh gosh,
I'm blinking. There's so many. There's just so many Drew Barrymore,
(26:49):
Does anyone remember that one? No? That sounds like really familiar though.
Let me yeah, she was inone, I think in like two thousand
and one. Maybe let's see nineteenninety eight. Wait oh wow, oh
wait, No, that's a Cinderellastory with her. Oh ever after,
(27:10):
Yeah, that's a Cinderella. Ifeel like there's a lot more Cinderella remakes
than snow White, honestly. Well, snow White and the Huntsman that was
one good one. Yes, Soanyway, they're making a new one with
Rachel Zegler as snow White and GalGadot as the evil Queen. But the
(27:33):
thing is, there's just a lotof controversy going on right now. Like
I feel like if they had remadeit the way they did and everyone just
like kept quiet and was nice aboutit, I think we would have let
it slide and we would have allaccepted it and watched it. Even but
Rachel has had a lot of thingsto say about her role as snow White
(27:55):
and multiple interviews. I'm reading thisarticle by BBC that she went on to
multiple interviews like addressing it, sayingthat she used to hate the original snow
White, that it used to scareher. She said she found the original
(28:17):
film scary and only watched it once, she pointed out it's extremely dated when
it comes to women being in rolesof power. She says that this new
one is going to reimagine her asa fantastic leader. And she also mentioned
that the prince was a stalker andhe was weird, and so like,
should not have a lot of shouldnot have a role in the new movie
basically. So that's just like alot of people are upset about her attitude
(28:42):
and how she's handling it. It'sjust very like I feel a sense of
entitlement, you know, like shefeels like she should have this part,
like this is her part, butshe hates the original, doesn't want anything
to do with it, thinks it'soutdated, and that the biggest thing I
don't like about this is she keepsmentioning that snow White is this powerful,
(29:03):
strong leader and she's not going tobe dreaming about a man and she's not
going to be falling in love. But like the Barbie movie taught us that
you can love if you want, but you have a choice not too.
You know how Barbie chose to nothave a love story, but you can.
And in this movie, it seemslike, you know, the marketing
they're doing for this is that womenhave to be strong empowerment businesswomen. They
(29:26):
have to have a career and everything, but some women just want to choose
love and family and like that's alsookay, yeah, that's a hard mind
that Disney has had walking a lotof their like redoing of these stories like
will Mermaid was you know a goodexample of you know, changing up a
storyline and making it a little moremodern, a little bit more different.
(29:48):
But like, yeah, like wedo we have to actually do away with
every single Disney prince because every princessis a strong woman that would never ever
chase a man. Or like it'slike maybe it makes sense or something like
maybe, but it doesn't have tobe you know, completely done away with
as an idea. I mean, snow White came out in nineteen thirty seven.
(30:10):
It's almost a hundred years old,Like god, yeah, it is
dated, like it's one hundred yearold movie, like yeah, and the
story itself, I think is likei mean, god, hundreds of years
older than that. It's it's afairy tale like it's it is. It
doesn't make sense to sign up forsomething that you clearly don't like, and
that you clearly, Like I mean, she could say she could have phrased
(30:33):
it totally better and been like, hey, it is outdated. I'm excited
to give it a new look.Like I only saw it once, but
it scared me, so I couldn'twatch it again. So I want to
make this something I would be ableto watch if I were a kid.
Like it is. It is akind of scary story, Like I mean,
like I remember watching it as akid, and oh, yeah,
the Evil Queen was terrifying. Yeah, there's like this scene in the woods
(30:53):
where she's like, oh, she'slike spinning and running around. I was
like, oh my god, it'sjust a lot. Even the ride at
Disney used to be a little scary, but that was the part of it,
Like the snow White ride was supposedto be a little spooky, little
you know, nostalgic, like itwas fun, it was old, it
was a classic, but you know, you still enjoyed it going on it.
(31:15):
So do you guys think that they'regoing to keep the Seven Dwarfs?
I hope they do. Oh Iread this, I can't vote. What
do you think they're talking about likecompletely just getting rid of them, like
from the movie entirely. Well, let's just say they've already filmed the movie,
they've already done it. But picturesgot leaked of the seven Dwarfs,
(31:40):
and they are all they're they're notdwarfs at all. They're just tall people,
you know, And I can showyou them. Please, let's see.
So that's them. Those are theseven doors. Oh my god,
no, no, no no.And there's a woman. There's a woman
in there. Of course there's awoman dwarf. Which one do we know?
(32:00):
She's that one there? I wishyou guys could see this. I
hate this pabu over here. I'msorry. I don't think that that we
love the dwarfs, you know, sleepy dope be angry or grumpy whatever it
was, grumpy grumpy. I havea sweater. I have a clear sweater.
And one that's a short guy likethere is is that Peter Dinkledge the
(32:22):
only one he's in like other stufflike that I think are popular, right?
He looked familiar. Who is thatis that? That does not look
like him? No, it doesn't, peterink Peter is he's just doing too
much like I don't I don't getit. No, he's not. It's
just another. Oh, I guessPeter, what's his name, Peter Dinkledge.
(32:44):
He came out with a statement aboutlike kind of like against Disney,
saying that like he took away fromthey took away from opportunities for people.
I agree. I agree too.That's a I mean, that's a powerful
statement. I mean he's an incredibly, incredibly you know, talented actor,
and there are billions of talented actorswho have disabilities and stuff, and that
(33:08):
that was an opportunity for that representationto be there and done it and done
in a story that makes sense. And it's not like they're just the silly
little side characters, like you know, they could actually have purpose and stuff.
I don't get like they're doing this, Like I think Disney keeps forgetting
that the movies are for kids andnot for adults. Like you cannot just
(33:31):
change the complete story and you know, introduce that to kids that are like
probably know, like they know thestory from their parents, Like you cannot
just do that and expect everything tolike be brand new. Like I don't
really like that. Yeah, Andlike kids are not thinking like adults are
thinking when they're watching these things,Like they're not thinking like oh, this
(33:51):
woman is like falling in love Like, oh no, she shouldn't be with
like a man, Like like that'snot what kids are taking away from these
movies, Like at all these messages. They don't understand. Oh she's empowered,
Like no, they're just gonna bewatching the movie and enjoying it.
Like I don't know why they're doingthat. Yeah, and when you go
to Disney World or Land, likeyou see snow White and then you know,
(34:13):
the Seven Dwarves are usually wherever herarea is. And I think they
even have like their own ride, don't they have like the Dwarf's mind ride
or some mind training, the mindtrain, Like because the Dwarfs are so
essential to snow White's story, it'sthat they're they're marketing. I mean,
like I was saying just a secondago, I have a grumpy sweatshirt for
Christmas, you know, I havelike a grumpy gnome that we had for
(34:36):
like Christmas decorations. Like they're soiconic for this story. It's like you
can't just like get rid of themlike that. They make the story.
I feel like a snow White withoutthem is just like a some girl who
gets lost in the woods and istrying to get murdered by her stepmother.
They might as well just like nameit a completely different thing, because that's
(34:58):
taking away from like what the movieactually is. They should just do new
movies and like, yeah, dosomething different, not remake everything. Yeah,
I agree, like hottake, LikeI think they need to stop remaking
all these movies because I think sometimesthey're like not doing them justice. Yeah.
Yeah, I didn't even watch aLittle Memory, just Little Mermaid's like
(35:19):
my favorite Disney princess, and Ididn't even go see. I didn't watch
it either. I just don't reallywant to. I have no interest.
I watched most of it, Ithink on TikTok because I was literally just
watching people's like clips over and over. I mean it seemed fine, but
it was nothing I got was likerushing to the theater to be like like
I was barnabased. I mean,if I was a child watching that remake
and seeing Flounder and the Sebastian,I think I would freak out. They're
(35:42):
terrifying. They are, without adoubt terrifying. I also don't quite and
I might be just like uncultured, but like dwarves are also like have been
mythical creatures and stories like Lord ofthe Rings and everything for I mean the
Dawn of Time. I mean that. I mean there's been stories about this
since like the Dark Ages. LikeI don't particularly see it like being a
(36:07):
more progressive stance on something by likeeliminating the dwarfs. I'm like, that's
just I mean, it is likeit is just a part of the fairy
tale. It's like it's not thatdeep. Now they're making it deep and
now like people have to be likewow, and like I don't understand from
the original, like what was therethat she needed to be a leader for,
(36:29):
you know, she was the wholepurpose of her story. In the
beginning, one was just she wasbeing like controlled and threatened by her stepmother
who was jealous of her. Soif annything it's like a mommy issue thing,
you know, Like it's not likea, oh, she needs to
go protect her castle and her kingdom. I mean that's one thing that that's
(36:52):
what they're probably going to do.I'm just confused on how it's going to
relate, Like what is there goingto be that she's going to be the
strong power, powerful individual taking overfighting for her kingdom. I'm just not
sure. I don't think i'll watchit. I will not be racing.
I mean I canceled my Disney Plus, so like I'm officially unsubscribed to el
(37:14):
it. I just don't watch it, like and there's never a time where
I'm like, oh, boy,get to watch this, Like I was
watching The Mandalorian on there for abit and then I even fell out with
that and I was just like, yeah, well, the only reason why
I have that actually is I don'twatch any of the new stuff, which
is so sad. But like nothingthey have come out new has like excited
me. Yeah, but I've I'vealways gone back to the classics, like
(37:35):
I'll always throw on a good likeMonsters University, or I'll put on Pie
to the Caribbean to see Captain JackSparrow, because those are like the classic
movies when like no one cared. You were just there to see a good
fun movie and see a classic taleand and have fun. You know,
it wasn't about this political gain orwhenever, and it's all just good fun,
(38:00):
heartfelt like Barbie. That's why youcan't go wrong with Barbie. Hired
to the Caribbean was almost the onlyreason I was not going to cancel myca
Those are great movies. Laps itslaps all the time. It's so good.
I could watch a whole marathon ofthat, like kind of same thing,
like My Harry Potter, Like Icould just put it on in the
background and just let it go.I did hear from a little birdie that
(38:21):
they are going to try to bringJohnny Depp back do some sort of next
movie. They should tell there's notsomething weird. I hope they please don't
ruin the series, Disney, butstill give that man his job back.
He did nothing wrong exactly, Johnnyup. Okay, any other good of
the order its tacky tourist stay inthe office. Yes, we are all
(38:45):
dressed, so goofy today. Allright. Well, if you guys enjoyed,
