Speaker 1 (00:31):
Hello, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome back to the Ohio Dirt
Track Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
I guess you should be welcoming us back because we
have a been around very much, uh for a while,
but there's stuff happening and we wanted to get together
and talk about it, and we're gonna try to do
some off.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Season stuff for you here. Uh. So we're back and
we hope you're back. So anyway, my.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Name is Clint Knight and I'm Jacobe Port.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
And we've got some stuff to talk about today, and
like I said, we're gonna try to work through some
off season stuff and and just see what all we
can cover and hopefully keep you guys updated and entertain
you and cover some events that are coming up as well.
First off, we didn't this wasn't really on the agenda,
But did you have money on Mike Tyson or Jake Paul?
Speaker 4 (01:19):
I didn't have money on anybody. I figured it was
gonna be Jake Paul. I wanted Mike Tyson just to
lay him out, just because it'd be funny. But I
figured I knew how that fight was gonna go, and
it's pretty much how it went. Other than the whole
buffering thing.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
So that, Yeah, that was the most boxing I've watched
in a long time. But I will say the the
three cards before, the three fights.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Before it were actually very entertaining. Are those are very.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
They were quality events in my opinion, and I'm glad
that I watched those.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
So yeah, I was gonna say that twelve round second
to last fight that went twelve rounds, that was pretty good.
And then the women's fight was really good from what
I could see and not from the buffering, but yeah,
I mean, and then I wasn't able to watch any
of the actual Jake Paul or Mike Tyson fight.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
But I had to watch it on my phone. Could
watch it on the TV, but right I could get
it on my phone anyway. That's that.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
So racing in Ohio, dirt track racing specifically, which is
what this podcast is about. Yeah, seventy five percent of
the time, I guess. Yeah, we've got some events that
are shaken out, you know that directly relate to National
Series events. High limit stuff and the All Star stuff
(02:54):
and the fast stuff is has had the internet very
active over the last few days.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Yeah, so they they finally announced yesterday that the All
Stars are back under Rich Farmer, but it's still owned
by like High Limit and Brad Sweet and Kyle Larson.
But it's just gonna be the name coming back under
Rich Farmer. It's been rumored for a while and it's
(03:26):
I don't know. I wouldn't call it a land grab,
but I know Rich has been trying to get some
events lined up at our local tracks. I know he's
been working to.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Hold on, hold on, I can't he's choking over here.
I couldn't find my mute button.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
I'm sorry, go ahead. So, yeah, Rich is uh, you know,
I guess I should backcheck Rich Farmer. You know, Fremont's
promoter is gonna head this up. I believe Ross Paulson,
former All Star official, is gonna play a pretty big
part in it as well. Yeah, Rich is getting his
(04:06):
team together. He's talking the tracks, getting some events lined up,
and yeah, we're gonna see what the new look All
Stars looks like here in twenty twenty five. He said
they're going to announce the schedule in December. I wouldn't
expect it to be, you know, a fifty or sixty
race schedule like the All Stars. Did you know going
from eastern Pennsylvania Iowa, but you never know. I think
(04:30):
it's going to be a building block here. Yeah, you know,
I'm interested to see how it all plays out.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Maybe Pennsylvania, the Indiana maybe.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Yeah, it just kind of depends on who all Rich
talks to and who all wants to take the gamble
on the new look All.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Stars's that's more of a Pennsylvania Indiana is more of
a speculation than it is a recommendation or suggestion.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
There's a lot of people saying, oh, you know, come
to these tracks and Illinois and you know, Wisconsin. No,
basically remake the All Star schedule from you know, twenty
twenty three, And I think those people might be a
little disappointed because it's hard to do a fifty or
sixty race schedule building from scratch with just a name basically.
(05:19):
But yeah, I would expect you know, maybe a twenty
or thirty events season or yeah, twenty or thirty races,
probably mainly in Ohio. I've heard some of the races
that are probably going to be you know, All Star sanctioned,
and it makes sense. So yeah, I, like I said,
(05:42):
I'm interested to see how it all shapes out.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Do you expect to see anything in Florida, Georgia, anything
in the South, like in the winter.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
At this point, I would say.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
No, but yeah, I mean it's November.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
Right, everything everything is changed a lot. It's from everything
that I've heard the last few weeks. It's changed about
four or five times. So yeah, I mean, I say,
don't get your hopes up about you know, Florida or Georgia.
But then again, you never know.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yeah, let's talk about the fact that it's gonna have
to coexist with another with several series. If it's I mean,
you know, say it covers it spans five states, right,
and then regionally it was Ohio specifically, you've got AFCs,
and then you have more regionally.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
I guess you got the Fast series too.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
I mean, I saw a good point on social media
this week several times several people said, you know, these
two series have co existed, these three series have co
existed together in the past.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Just fine.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
The fact that one of them is coming back shouldn't
really change a whole lot.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Now right now.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
And Dwayne Hancock, you know, director of the AFCs, is
really good about not scheduling over top of the bigger races.
We saw a lot of tracks work together really well
here in the twenty twenty four season, just trying not
to schedule over top of each other, just so that
the local racers have as many chances to run for
(07:21):
big money as possible, and I think it worked out
really well. There's that little spat during speed Week when Atomic,
who had only ran maybe two four ten shows, you know,
scheduled erase during speed Week, and you know, I guess
people is always you know, speed Week shows are sacred
and you can't run against it. But you know, tracks
(07:43):
have no issues running against the outlaws out Atomic. But
that's a conversation for another day. But you know, pretty
much everyone has been co existing and I think Rich
is wanting to co exist because if everyone's fighting for cars,
it's not going to do anything good for tracks and
(08:06):
it could very well hurt Riches track in Fremont. So
I think it's in everyone's best interest to kind of
coexist as best as we can. It's not going to
be perfect, but you know, as long as everyone's putting
an effort, you know they'll get their slice of the pie.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
So series that will touch Ohio this year, when we're
talking for talking four to ten sprint cars only will
have obviously the World of Outlaws will touch Ohio five times.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
I'm guessing I don't have Actually the schedule's out.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
Right, only only the High Limit, only.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
The High Limits out right, So the World of Outlaws
is not out but we can guess five times, four
or five times at least, you know high limit.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
How many were on the High Limit schedule.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Let's see, there's two two day shows at Oldra, there's
Fremont and that's it.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Yeah, I think that's it.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
So three three times with a High Limit, and then
you know the All Stars. Typically that schedule, you got
what twelve to fifteen shows?
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Yeah, I was closer to thirty in Ohio.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Oh yeah, I guess yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
I think, well that might have been including Pennsylvania. I
mean it's it's in that fifteen to twenty range, okay.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
And then fast how many shows would you say they
run last year?
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Last year they ran including speed Week. I think on
the schedule they had nineteen excuse me, nineteen shows. I
don't know how many of those got rained out or anything,
but on their schedule it was nineteen shows in Ohio
out of I think like thirty five or forty any
other traveling series, I mean if you want to call
(09:53):
OVSCA a traveling series. Yeah, you know, as they only
go as far north as maybe muskiegum So and then
a FCS and.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
So.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Yeah, I mean there's there's no shortage of series in Ohio.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
And they've all none of them are new. No, none
of them are new. I mean, it's it's all been
going on. So I think a lot of this is
just a little bit of internet drama.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Which is okay.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
But I mean I'm excited to see the All Stars
come back. It's gonna look very different. It's gonna be different,
but I you know, it's it's getting back to where
we were.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
I guess before the High Limit.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Made the change, and hopefully the people that were you know,
all upset about Brad and Kyle kind of killing the
All Stars the start High Limit, which is you know,
kind of myself included. I was kind of critical of it,
you know, given a chance and you know, go out
and support this new look All Stars. But yeah, you know,
(11:00):
I keep saying it, it's just it's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Well yeah, what so you mentioned speed Week?
Speaker 1 (11:06):
We didn't talk about speed Week, and I guess that
is you know, that's an entirely different conversation. Now, oh dear,
and what's that gonna look like? I guess it would
all be speculation at this point.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
We don't know, right I think as of right now,
you know the All Stars are gonna have speed Week,
But how much of it is actually All Star stuff,
I'm not sure. I know there were some plans to
made by another party to do a speed Week, and
(11:43):
they had tracks on board and are allegedly had tracks
on board, allegedly had Dirt Vision on board, and then
the second party came in and got allegedly got tracks
on board and allegedly got flow on board. So they
were working on getting kind of merging the deal. So
(12:07):
I haven't heard what's all has been done with that
last I know some people I don't know. It's the saga,
it's last season all over again.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
This saga of speed Week continues.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Yeah, it's not going to be Fast sanctioned. We do
know that. I think Fast did a great job in
twenty twenty four, but I guess High Limit kind of
took it away from him and gave it sort of
to the All Stars. There's yeah, it's it's like you said,
it's been a saga.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
So I guess, yeah, the biggest if anybody should feel uncertain,
I mean, it's going to happen, right, speed Week's going
to happen. But the biggest change you can probably expect
four twenty twenty five is going to be in Speed Week.
Everything else is just kind of settling back to where
we were a little bit just a little bit different
(13:09):
form and then to be determined is what happens with
Speed Week.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
But I think we could expect it to.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
Happen, right, Oh yeah, there's no way speed Week doesn't happen.
What we can't have those two speed weeks? Yeah, if
these parties, you know, disagree and split off and then
we have two speed Weeks, it's it's not going to
be good.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Yeah, I would.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
I would hope that everybody sees the writing on the
wall there and and you know, can make the right
decisions and try to work together right to make to
you know, rising what is it? The rising tide raises
all ships. You know, if everybody could work together to
(13:55):
find a way to make it, make it happen, because
number one, it's it's it's an amazing tradition that no
one wants.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
To see go away.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Or suffer because of you know, competition, and you know,
the drivers want to be the teams and the drivers
want to be part of it, and traditionally we have
a lot of we have a lot of drivers that
come to Ohio to be part of.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
It, and we want that to continue to So yeah,
well I guess more more to come.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
All right, Well, we'll find out in December when that
All Star schedule is released and that that's usually pr
I right, Yeah, I would imagine it'll be around pr
I time.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, Okay, So that's the that is the that's the tea.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
I guess as much as we know, Yeah, as far
as we know, and since we've started talking about it,
it's probably changed. Yes, there's I have looked at Facebook
in the last five ten minutes, but there may be
something new on there or Twitter. Any thoughts on Charlotte
and what happened there, I mean, no surprises really no,
(15:08):
I mean.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
I think the Big Block title came down to the wire.
From what I heard on Dirt Tracker, I think that
was probably about the most exciting thing of the weekend.
You know, sprint cards, you know, as David Gravell was
his to lose, and I think as long as he
showed up, he basically had it one. So it was
(15:31):
a good fight from Carson Mesito. He just couldn't get
over that hump from Felucia and or the early season,
and then I think he struggled at Knoxville in June.
But yeah, Gravel got his first out law title and
he's gonna run it. Back In twenty twenty five, the
Late Model side of things looked like it might get interesting.
(15:52):
Looked like Bobby Pierce was on a hard charge, trying
to catch up the b Shep after that tire penalty
way back when but ran out of steam. And ironically
it was a flat tire and the last night of
the World Finals that got pierced and ended his ended
his chances at that title. So but uh, yeah, I mean,
(16:13):
I think everything went about as expected as it was
supposed to.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
I think track conditions in Charlotte were better than we've
seen in the past years.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
And I saw some rumblings about dust. I watched a
couple of the Late Model highlights, and yeah, it kind
of reminded me of you know, Attica in twenty twenty one,
twenty twenty two, So.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
I didn't think it was as bad as I've seen it, Ye, Charlotte,
I don't.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
I don't think it was either, but yeah, it's it's
usually not great though.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
A little Gravel doing his social media thing playing games
kind of hinted that what what took a picture of
him and Brad Street hinting just to get the internet
a buzz.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
Oh yeah that was I thought that was funny.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
But yeah, it looks like, you know, they get that
all wrapped up and so far, pretty clear on who's
going where. As far as the the top ten, I
guess drivers, top eight to ten drivers, I.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Think it's pretty clear on what's gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
But we should see more commitments come out here in
the next month.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
I would assume.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Probably around that PR time we'll see more and more.
I wouldn't expect a whole lot of switching between series
from those top teams, but you never know. I guess
we've we've seen crazier thing has happened.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Very true.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
All right, one more, I guess one more topic to
move on to. Oh before we do that, I did.
I did look at Facebook here and I see that
Tony Stewart and Leah Pruitt had a baby today.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
So that's right.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Congratulations. I think I don't assume it was today, but
it looks like it was. It was.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Actually it was Tony. Tony qualified the drag stree yesterday
or maybe that was even this morning, went to the hospital,
had the kid, and then he came right back to
the track to run, you know, to run this afternoon,
run this evening. So but yeah, naturally Tony Stewart has
a kid born on race day, racer.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Is gonna race, right right, yeah, So congratulations to them
on that, obviously slowing down on some things.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
So that they could make that happen.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
All.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
So, one more thing before we go.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
We've talked about this for about five years and neither
of us I think it's five years, neither of us.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Have made it yet. But we are going to Gateway
this year, headed.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
To Saint Louis here in a few weeks for the
Gateway Dirt Nationals. I am incredibly excited. I can't wait
to see this event.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
So, yeah, we're going to a Gateway. So our race
season isn't over yet. We're gonna go what do they
call it dirt in December, and uh, I'm excited for
it because that's gonna be the end of the my
my challenge this year. My goal this year was to
(19:12):
go to at least one race and every month. So
I just need December and that's gonna that's gonna take
care of December. We're gonna get three nights in. I'm
gonna tour the Budweiser Factory, which I'm really excited about.
There I think on Friday morning. So but there's what
like one hundred and twenty late models and sixty modifieds,
(19:33):
and I mean it's all the who's who's gonna be there.
There's some new late model guy or late model guy's
debuting with their new teams.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
So the story lines are it's funny to me that
you would take a new team to that, like let's
get this, get a new car, new team and.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Go to Gateway sixteen right rear corner panels.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Right right.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
But it's fun, it's fun. It's it's I mean, you
get a ton of exposure there. Oh yeah, it's I
mean it is it's turned into a huge event.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Oh yeah, and it's just kind of you know, it's
kind of cool. It's kind of full circle moment for
us because we started this whole thing at Manshield Motor
Speedway with an event promoted by Cody Somber And now
we're going to Saint Louis with an event promoted by
Cody Sommer. So but yeah, I'm looking at the prelim
(20:29):
night lists here for the late Models, and I mean
they're loaded each night and then obviously Saturday, you know,
you throw everyone together. But yeah, it's uh, I'm excited
to check it out. And uh, I've heard the parties
are pretty good too.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
Yeah, I've heard that. I've heard that.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Yeah, I will be there Friday and Saturday. Uh.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
And then.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
I'm I'm excited to see the arch. That's something I've
never done for I am really cool.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
You need to go up in the arch. Yeah, get
that view of the city from the very top.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
We'll definitely do that.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
I'm excited to see the driver intros to see if
it's everything that it was on TV or more. And
I man, I just I'm curious what it sounds like
in there. I know that's crazy, but I mean I'm
I'm curious of what that uh, what that event, what
it's just gonna sound like? You know, are you gonna
(21:32):
be able to heal here it physically?
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Here?
Speaker 1 (21:34):
The beating and the banging over the engines, and I
don't know, it's just it's a whole nother aspect of
of going to a race.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
And obviously tempers are gonna flare too with the track
that small, and you're gonna you're gonna have your guys
beating and banging against each other. So it's gonna be
interesting who ends up getting removed from Christmas card lists?
And uh, you see there's any pushing or shoving or
even better, maybe a fight on the front stretch every
(22:06):
thro every promoter's dream.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Throwing some hands.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Oh yeah, that wasn't this is this is the event
where Cody said the only the only thing is if
you're going to fight, do it on the front stretch.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
That or the Chili Bowl.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Oh is that the Chili Bowl could be I don't remember.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
But either way, I I it's they're selling a lot
of tickets, so this might be the biggest one.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
I heard that like all the multi day tickets are
sold out, so yeah, I know they normally sell out
Saturday night, at least in the lower bowl. I don't
know if they open up the upper bowl or not,
but that lower bowl can probably set a lot of people,
and if they're selling it out, then man, yeah, it's
a big deal.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
And the yeah, I think the from what I I
think you have that whole cast of announcers, uh, infield
reporters live in.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
The dome, right, so you're hearing what you're hearing.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
On on the on the television broadcast as well or
the online broadcast as well. So uh, and that's a
star studded cast. I mean that's pretty much everybody.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Is Blake Anderson going to be there? Because that would
be great. I would assume, you know, he's I know
he's done it before. I hope he's there because I
miss I miss hearing Blake, I miss seeing him around.
So we just have to go to a late model
race to do it.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Now, I guess you have to find that answer out.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Yeah, well we'll try to answer that on Twitter here
in the next day or so.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Awesome, so we're to come on that.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
We'll we'll break down a little bit more of that
between now in the event, talk about who's going to
be there, what Ohio drivers are going to be there,
if any?
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Do you know if they're going to be.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
I see Freddy Carpenter, I don't know if he's I
think he's he might be he's either Ohio or West Virginia.
He's kind of right on the border there. I assume
Devan Moran is going to be there. Maybe there's just
a lot of names on this list. Yeah, there's there's
Devin Moran. If I miss any Ohio drivers, I apologize.
(24:12):
I'm really just uh strolling through here real quick. I
see Donnie Shotz's nep or niece is going to be there.
Let's see, of course, Uh, Tyler Carpenter is going to
be there. Yeah, so he's a two time winner. I'm
sure he's gonna be hungry to get back up on
(24:33):
the uh top step of the podium. And he's always
entertaining no matter what he's doing. Let's see. I know,
as of right now, those are the only guys I
(24:54):
see with the Hio ties. But I'd have to I'd
have to look grow, you know, more in depth instead
of just kind of strolling through here on Facebook real quick.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
So we so we do we do have some of
hard drivers. They're gonna be a gateway. Well we'll dig
into that a little.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Bit and get back on the next episode and uh
and dig into those those drivers talk a little bit
more about that and what we can expect to see
out of them. Yeah, we should look at what their
history is and then you know, try to make some projections,
see what what they're gonna do in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Right on? All right, you got anything else before we
get out of here?
Speaker 4 (25:35):
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
All right, Well, that's.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
That's a This episode is the first time I've used
the firm the term the tea, I believe, although I
hear my kids say it now. It's like an old
fashioned it's like an old fashioned term that's come back around.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
I guess.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
I guess. So, I don't know. Look at us being hip.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
We're being hip awesome. But we appreciate you guys coming back.
I hope we randomly showed up on your podcast as
you guys have kept following us, maybe or you stumbled
across the episode on Twitter.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
But either way, we will.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
We're gonna work to get you some more content here,
especially between now and the Gateway, and we'll get some
more content to you, some more coverage.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
And we didn't go away. We just we went to
sleep for a little while.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
But life, we're going to get busy in the fall.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
It does it does, We'll get some more content to
