Speaker 3 (03:58):
I have a pretty good idea.

Speaker 9 (04:00):
I hope it's better than pretty good, Blackie, because this
guy's made four rings to a pretty good disappearing act.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
And I know how too.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
Yeah, he threw them away when he saw he was
being chased that's a lie.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Yes, yes, he could have done that. He could have.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
I'd like to bet he didn't.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Go ahead, bet only let me alone. It's Christmas Eve.
I got someplace to call.

He's blackie.

Speaker 14 (05:00):

Speaker 1 (05:43):
But you use a gun. Good, pretty good, they tell me.
And if you do, we'll be speaking the same language.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
All right?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Those rings, Martin, where are they? That's a clerk. I
told you I don't have your lying.

Speaker 14 (06:04):
I know you took him out of the store because
I saw you run out of the place and beat
it up the street.

Speaker 8 (06:07):
If you don't hung around you they've seen me nabbed
and hold off the police head.

Speaker 1 (06:10):

in jail. Hop me.

Speaker 8 (06:13):
I ain't got no record, remember whacking and that cop
fire they took me down there, check dommy, let me go.

Speaker 7 (06:18):
All right, you ran into trouble, but you got out
of it.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Now where those rings? I ain't gone. Took them out
of the store, So why haven't you gone? Calm done
and give me a chance to tell you.

Speaker 15 (06:25):
I'll give you just ten seconds to hand over those
rings by spot of the jewelry store and case it
for you, and I don't try to cross you.

Speaker 8 (06:31):
Look, don't get tough, or maybe I'll just leave the
rings lay right where you are.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Oh you will, Yeah, I will.

Speaker 15 (06:36):
I ain't going after I've taught you a little lesson. Hey, Abby,
I told him, Hey, who's that monster?

Speaker 14 (06:49):
He's a character wanted for murder in Europe. A friend
of mine sent him to me for Christmas.

Speaker 10 (06:53):
Friend.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Huh, you don't understand no English. But he's tough. I'm
gonna prove that to you. Yeah, Abby.

Speaker 15 (07:00):
Laid a lot ye he ah, I call this guy off,
Call him off, call him off.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Almost jewel clack hebby troof conder. Yes, you lay off now, mad, That.

Speaker 14 (07:24):
Is, unless you still have the idea you're not telling
me what you did with those rings.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Sure, I'll tell you. The jewlor was chasing me.

Speaker 16 (07:32):
I see a Santa Claus up the street, ringing his
bell and collecting stuff.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
So when I passed him just before black, he grabbed me.
I threw the rings in a big iron pot.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
That Santa Claus had it.

Speaker 8 (07:41):
Nobody saw me, and I know how to get him back.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
You're better now.

Speaker 14 (07:45):
I thought for a minute there that you was going
to be the only guy in history who gave Santa
Claus a present.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Black must matter with you an inspected paraday. Everybody else
in this restaurant's having fun.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
But look at you two.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
I'm sorry, Mary, and I don't like what that guy
Joe Martin did to us this evening.

Speaker 9 (08:11):
And I don't like the fact that we had nothing
on him in the file at headquart us.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
No, ain't your dinner, both of them.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
This is Christmas Eve and we're supposed to be having
a party. When we let Martin go, my appetite went
with him.

Speaker 7 (08:23):
Well, Blackie, what did he do with those rings?

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Who knows?

Speaker 6 (08:27):
He took them, according to the jeweler, but he got
rid of them somehow without being seen. Apparently he didn't
throw them away because we searched the street.

Speaker 12 (08:35):
When you two see Santa Claus telling him that what
you want for Christmas is an explanation.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Of how Martin got rid of those rings.

Speaker 6 (08:40):
Hey, wait, don't marry that's not a bad thought. No,
I know those rings were hidden, then why they haven't
been found.

Speaker 7 (08:48):
And I wait a minute, Blackie, what Santa Claus got
to do with that?

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Martin gave the rings to Santa Claus?

Speaker 7 (08:53):
Why, Blackie, haven't you heard there ain't no Santa Claus.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
There was one ringing a little bell on the corner
near the jewelry store. Yes, and Martin him just a
few seconds before I caught up with him.

Speaker 9 (09:02):
But I would Martin give those rings to Santa Claus
without Santa Claus.

Speaker 6 (09:05):
Knowing it, by tossing them in his collection bucket Friday,
Come on, we're getting out of here, donkey that Santa
Claus won't still be there, But all those street corners
Saint Nicks are working for the Welfare Society. Yeah, so
I'll call them and they'll tell me where we can
find the guy.

Speaker 9 (09:18):
You think Santa Claus still has the rings?

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Huh?

Speaker 6 (09:20):
Yeah, if Martin hasn't found him by now and taken
them back, in which case we'll find Santa Clause has
been clipped.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Who is it, Joe Martin? Clock In, it's me? You
haven't money? Introduction? Where the rings?

Speaker 8 (09:46):
Well, keep too, ton Tony from the bed away from me.
I got the rings right here where I want him
is right here in my head.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Sure, sure, here you are. Thanks.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Have any trouble with Santa Claus?

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Ye?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
No, they were great, good.

Speaker 8 (10:00):
He'll never even be able to tell anybody I was there.

Speaker 6 (10:12):
I'll be a good little boy and I take you
in to see Santa Claus Faraday, and maybe he'll bring
you a nice little promotion.

Speaker 7 (10:21):
Look, he's an off duty Santa Claus right now, I know.

Speaker 9 (10:25):
According to the Welfare Society his name is Henry James.

Speaker 7 (10:29):
How many more flights are only? This is a fine
way to spend Christmas Eve.

Speaker 6 (10:34):
And we may spend fronatal New Years working on the
murder case Faraday. If the welfare agency was right and
another guy phoned for information about the same Santa Claus.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Was before we did, I know, Oh, find me. Here's
the door.

Speaker 9 (10:49):
He's in the kind of trouble you claim he is.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
He won't be in any condition who.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Went to the door. Don't remind me in your theories.

Speaker 7 (10:55):
He had no right to think he's dead.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
I hope I'm wrong, but I'll garant if he's not dead,
he's tied up or unconscious her both.

Speaker 7 (11:04):
Well, if you're so smart you have that all figured out.

Speaker 9 (11:06):
You ought to be smart enough to know the only
way we'll get in is to open the door.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
I sall brilliant deduction inspector, and it's all mine. I'll
try the door to see if it's lack.

Speaker 7 (11:14):
Blackie, how do you think up such wonderful ideas?

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Somebody's opening it the for us.

Speaker 17 (11:19):
Sorry to keep you gentlemen waiting so long. I was
taking a nap.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Are you, Henry James?

Speaker 9 (11:24):
Yes, the Santa Claus on the corner of that jewelry
store that was robbed earlier this evening.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
Yes, yes, well I'm bossing Blackie and this is inspected,
Faraday the police.

Speaker 17 (11:33):
How you doing?

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Hi?

Speaker 17 (11:35):
Saw you cats as eve Blackie did? Won't you come in?

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Thank you? James? H Did you have a visitor a
little while ago?

Speaker 10 (11:46):
A visitor?

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Yeah? Oh I had no visitor.

Speaker 9 (11:49):
No one came here and held you up to get
back to four stolen rings he tossed in your collection?

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Were no inspected?

Speaker 17 (11:55):
Far No one's been here, and my collection bucket's right
here on the table.

Speaker 7 (12:00):
Un touch this collection, bucket hers hasn't been.

Speaker 9 (12:02):
Touched, James, certainly not Blackly, according to you, Joe Martin Fluss,
the rings in the Santa Claus collection bucket.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
This is it I know?

Speaker 9 (12:10):
According to you, Martin called the Welfare Society and found
out where this particular Santa Claus lived.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Somebody asked about mister James before I call.

Speaker 9 (12:18):
You don't say, but mister James says, nobody's been here.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Well, you ought to know, and you ought to know.

Speaker 9 (12:24):
How ridiculous you are. I've looked through this collection bucket.
There's no rings here, nothing but coins. Santa Claus wasn't
held up here.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
No rings were.

Speaker 9 (12:33):
Ever dropped in his bucket.

Speaker 7 (12:34):
Out on the street, Blacky, how wrong can a guy get?

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Now?

Speaker 13 (13:00):
Back to Boston, Blackie, Joe Martin steals four rings from
a jewelry's door just before he is caught by Boston Blackie.
He runs down the street and tosses the rings into
the collection box of the street corner Sata Claus. Later,

(13:21):
at Sata's room, he apparently recovers the jewelry, but when
Blackie had inspected Paraday come to see Sata, Sata, whose
real name is Henry James, insists that his collection box
has not been touched. As we returned to our story,
Blackie continues his question.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Of Sata clock.

Speaker 6 (13:42):
Look, mister James here play Faraday has gone back to
headquarters because he thinks I'm wrong. Maybe he's right, but
I still say that Martin tossed those rings into your
collection bucket.

Speaker 17 (13:52):
Believe Blackie. The collections right here, don't touch. I was
about to take it to the world first, I said,
And as I said before, or no one's been here
to see me, No one but June the inspector.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah, sure, you're not playing Santa Claus to Joe.

Speaker 17 (14:07):
Martin working with a thief, or I should say not.
I don't know why you should think so.

Speaker 6 (14:12):
Because when I call the Welfare Society to get your
name and address, I was told there'd been another call
inquiring about you just half an hour before.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
Is that so?

Speaker 6 (14:20):
I think that was Joe Martin calling to find out
where he could find you.

Speaker 17 (14:25):
Well, no, Joe Martin came here, Blake.

Speaker 10 (14:27):
In fact, nobody did.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
And you've been right here in your rum ever since
you came back to get out of your Santa Claus.

Speaker 17 (14:33):
So yeah, yeah, black every minute, every sing no no, no, wait,
no wait. I was out for just a minute on
the telephone to the end of the hall.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Who was on the phone and when was this about?

Speaker 10 (14:44):
Twenty minutes ago.

Speaker 17 (14:46):
It was a man's welfare Society asked me if I'd
collected a lot of money to night.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Did the man say who he was?

Speaker 17 (14:51):
No, No, justinyven an officer of the society. I wouldn't
have known him if he had given his name. I
worked for the society only at Christmas time.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
Then, while you were on the phone talking to Martin
as some friend of his, either Martin or an accomplice,
slipped in here and got back those stolen rings.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Isn't that possible?

Speaker 17 (15:08):
WHOA, Yes, yes, there is my backwards to the hall.
While I was on the phone, and the door to
this room was partially open.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
And thanks to what you've just told me, mister James,
this case is practically closed.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Mary, don't stuff me so full of pillows.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
I can't stand Blackie.

Speaker 8 (15:38):
You want to look like a big fat, jolly Santa Clause,
don't you.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Yes, but not like an overstuffed chair.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
You're well patted.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Your coat's fund.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Now try on your beard. Let's see how you look.

Speaker 6 (15:48):
Say if I get clipped with this thing on my face,
you might say, my assailant.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Is beating around the bush.

Speaker 10 (15:55):
WHOA, how do I.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Look with your cap on, I never know you. That
would be all right with me. Well you think that
Joe Martin will know me?

Speaker 6 (16:04):
So he doesn't know you as well as I do
to begin with him, which you wouldn't try this though, Blackie,
see anything I can do?

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Since Faraday wouldn't give me any help.

Speaker 13 (16:11):
But Martin's address, well, in a way, he can't be
blamed for not offering you any help.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
This isn't a murder. And besides, you've been.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Wrong all along according to him.

Speaker 6 (16:19):
That is well. Well, young lady, hand me. I have
sacophony presents and I'll put this case in the bag.

Speaker 9 (16:39):
Friday homicide.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Hello, Inspected, This is Mary Wesley. All right, let's have it,
Miss Wesley.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
I have what Blackie's newest theory.

Speaker 9 (16:45):
On how to make me waste my time.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Blacky's newest plan isn't going to waste any of your time, Inspector.
In fact, you may not have enough time to get
down there.

Speaker 13 (16:52):
And help him get down where lack you gave him
that fellow Martin's address, He got dressed in a Santa
Claus suit and went down there alone.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
What's he bothering?

Speaker 8 (16:59):
My mind?

Speaker 1 (17:00):
And we haven't got anything on him.

Speaker 13 (17:01):
Blackie is positive that Martin retrieved those stolen rings from
Santa Claus his collection bucket.

Speaker 9 (17:06):
And I'm positive black he's positively out of his mind.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
Well, anyway, I think you ought to go over to
Martin's right away.

Speaker 13 (17:11):
You know the way Blackies little schemes sometimes get him
into trouble.

Speaker 7 (17:14):
This time, I hope he got somehself into plenty of trouble.
Oh gee, maybe it'll get him out of my hair.

Speaker 8 (17:29):
I get a handed to you clickick calling that Santa
Claus to his house and keeping him on a phone
while I sneaked in and got the rings out of
his collection.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
I was just luck that it worked.

Speaker 14 (17:38):
What would we have done, Martin if be taking his
collection right down from his corner to the welfare Society.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
That would have been just too bad. I get too
bad for you?

Speaker 14 (17:47):
Why because by boy Abby knows how to use a
gun as well as his fist.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Look, you got the rings back, didn't you?

Speaker 10 (17:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 14 (17:55):
Sure, over there on the table. It came to your
room to be sure I got him back. He's gonna
be my chief assistant from now one, in.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Charge of guys who make mistakes.

Speaker 8 (18:04):
I understand, Okay, I understand it. But it's sure gonna
be tough working with a guy who can't speak English
or understand it.

Speaker 14 (18:12):
I don't want him to be easy to work with.
You can't talk to him, you can't get friendly with him.
Trigger men shouldn't have friends.

Speaker 7 (18:20):
They minute, who's there, Santa car get rid of the margin.

Speaker 6 (18:26):
Okay, Merry Christmas, Son, Marry Christmas.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Hey, sat So, Peter, it's the same, Santa Martin.

Speaker 8 (18:36):
Ah, Peter Mac you got the wrong house.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Merry Christmas, my boy, can you spare it?

Speaker 1 (18:42):
I say, wait a minute, he's collecting for the poor.
Let him commend a minute.

Speaker 7 (18:49):
Okay, come on, sen it, come on in.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
And Merry Christmas.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
What do you want from a senate?

Speaker 8 (18:59):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Thing you care to give?

Speaker 6 (19:01):
Just anything to help make it a merry Christmas for
the poor, like those four diamond rings on the table there.
