and continue to keep going. Thanks a bunch everybody all right. So,
last we saw here on the Superman radio program that
there was an explosion in Stonehouse and it looked like
the AzID Land Indians had stolen the Emerald back from
(02:08):
doctor Beacham, and that's where we left off. So let's
go ahead and get into part five here of the
Emerald of the Incas storyline. The title of part five
is Secret of the Sacred Emerald, and this one aired
April tenth of nineteen forty.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Enjoy presenting the transcription feature Superman Up in the Sky.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Look, it's a plain Superman.
Speaker 6 (02:46):
Now Superman.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
When we last saw him, Superman and his character of
Clark Kent without the suburban hideaway of doctor George Haven Beacham,
world famous explorer, with Doctor Beacham and his daughter Elsey.
A crashing explosion I brought them racing upstairs to find
a section of the house blown in, missing from the
safe with the mysterious sacred carving the Emerald of the Incas,
which dick'splorer had brought back from his latest expedition to
(03:10):
South America, and rising in the moonlight above the trees
beyond the house was the fantastic form of an auto gyro.
If our story continues today, several minutes have passed. Kent
is about to leap from the window and follow the
vanishing plane when a sudden cry from Elsie makes him turn.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Oh, oh, Elsie, what is it?
Speaker 7 (03:28):
Oh it's just my ankle. I I think I turned it.
Speaker 8 (03:31):
Oh here take my arm, as Beecham, or let me
carry you back downstairs. I'm all right, Really I am, Elsie.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Are you sure?
Speaker 7 (03:37):
I am truly?
Speaker 2 (03:39):
My ankle's not even spring doctor.
Speaker 8 (03:40):
Look if miss Beecham's really all right, I think it
might be better if I tried to get one of
the cars outside and follow that on a gyro dead
he's right, I don't know. I can't think, doctor, they've
got the Emerald. If there's a chance of getting it back.
Speaker 7 (03:53):
How can you do it?
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Mister Ken?
Speaker 7 (03:54):
You don't know which way they'd gone.
Speaker 8 (03:56):
What do you think, doctor? Which way would they go?
It's hard to tell. They might be heading for water.
We're almost on the sound. They may have a boat
lying offshore. Good, I'll bet that's it. I'll take a
car and follow them. When then you can't possibly they
leave you behind in no time?
Speaker 6 (04:09):
No, they won't.
Speaker 8 (04:10):
An autojarro isn't fast. I may be able to catch
them right away. I'm going after that plane and mister
Kent can't What are you doing? You can't climb out
that window?
Speaker 6 (04:17):
Oh yes I can.
Speaker 7 (04:18):
When mister can't, you break your name?
Speaker 4 (04:20):
I won't so long.
Speaker 8 (04:21):
If I catch them, I'll find a telephone somewhere and
let you know.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
Now.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Then one little jump and I'm done. They'll think I've
climbed on the trellis how oft into the trees where
the cars are so they can't see me. Go up
in case they're looking. Ah, this ought to do it now?
Sense using a car to catch a Blaine. If that out,
Jiro's heading out to sea. I'll soon find it.
Speaker 6 (04:46):
Hopp I'm away.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Red cape streaming in the wind, blue costume flashing in
the moonlight, Superman leaps into the air, hovers a moment
off in a series of widening circles to find the
auto gyro in which the priests of the tribe of
azat Land are making off of the Emerald of the Incas.
Suddenly he sees the flash of a silver wing over
the waters of the.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Sound levels out on the straight line.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
While in the auto gyro itself, the brown Man popped together?
Speaker 9 (05:19):
Where is the emerald safely hidden? Did your orange matters
back at the house?
Speaker 6 (05:24):
I did.
Speaker 9 (05:26):
By this time the palace of the White Doctor should
blaze like a hundred files.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Good?
Speaker 2 (05:33):
What do you look at? We are over?
Speaker 10 (05:35):
What?
Speaker 2 (05:37):
How far do we go?
Speaker 6 (05:38):
This way?
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Some miles?
Speaker 9 (05:40):
Look back there behind us in the moonlight, I see nothing. Wait,
it went into the shadow of a cloud.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
What is it? A man? Do you think you have
a man flying in the air?
Speaker 6 (05:54):
No, no, it.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Cannot be even the magic of the Azat, I tell
you it is. Look it comes close. He's over our heads.
I saw him.
Speaker 7 (06:05):
Look.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Look he's coming through through the door.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Sorry, gentlemen, forgive my breaking in like this? Where's the
Emerald of the Incas?
Speaker 7 (06:13):
No?
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Speak, not speak, yanking, you'll speak at this time? Where's
that emerald?
Speaker 6 (06:17):
Quick?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
White man?
Speaker 6 (06:19):
What you seek was stolen?
Speaker 2 (06:22):
It is our I.
Speaker 6 (06:23):
Look here, I'm not going to argue about that.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Now.
Speaker 6 (06:25):
I want that stone. Where is it?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
We have taken it back. You will never find.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
Me, I think not.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
I may not find it, but you will, and you'll
find it right now and hand it over.
Speaker 6 (06:36):
I say, yes, where is it? Find it?
Speaker 9 (06:39):
Use your magic against the magic because as a fly
I will.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
You've seen a little of magic already, just a very little.
I call it the magic of Krypton. Now you're going
to see a lot more. Come here, now, you let
me call. I said, come here, both of you. Yes,
you too, I kill you, white man, you've already tried.
Not listen. You want more chance, then I'll knock your
heads together. Where is that emerald?
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Look? Look behind you, white man?
Speaker 6 (07:07):
All stuff? And even if I did, what could you do?
Speaker 9 (07:10):
He means fire, fire back, whatever magic of their plan?
Speaker 6 (07:15):
White man?
Speaker 2 (07:16):
That fire in the house where the emerald was?
Speaker 9 (07:20):
What stonehouse, a house of the white doctor who stole.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
The sacred God? Is in flames?
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Look you mean that fire is back at doctor beachams.
Speaker 9 (07:30):
Look how it leaps up fingers of flame.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Look it shows for miles the how tave evil. He's gone.
Speaker 6 (07:40):
We'll see about that. What it is? You signed your
own death warrant? Where are we over water?
Speaker 7 (07:46):
Good?
Speaker 6 (07:47):
Caw caw.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
You went for the moment, but not for long. It's
at a gyrol clot down there.
Speaker 8 (07:53):
On the water.
Speaker 6 (07:53):
And that's what it's going to, not what you do.
Just what I said, I'm gonna wreck this plane.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Send it down the bottom down, so you'll be sure
and be there when I get back.
Speaker 6 (08:03):
Now I'm going to snatch that front propeller. Now down
with the lands too hard. Now, God, there's a boat
down there. Now I can't help fast. They can't do much. No, no,
(08:24):
down and into the water.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
There.
Speaker 6 (08:31):
I'll keep them quiet for a while. Now back to
that pirate stonehouse. Up up. God's not hurry, and they've
caught Elsie in the doctor. I'll take carole them when
I get back.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Fire and faster, faster, black at stonehouse. Red flames lick
hungrily at beams and walls, roar up into the nice sky.
Elsy and Doctor Beecham, having escaped in the nick of
time from the blazing furnace, stand on the lawns, thumbs
and unbelieving, and I'm lay else.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
You remember, Oh, yeah, Dad, Elsie, what is it? Jo
not hurt dead?
Speaker 7 (09:07):
I just remembered down and sellar that taxi driver Daddy
never knew. He must have been trapped by an explosion.
Then when the fire came, Oh, Daddy's down there now
he can't get out. Good the poor man.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
What can we do, Dan, Elsie come back.
Speaker 10 (09:23):
We can't do a thing, not till someone sees the
blaze and calls the fire department.
Speaker 7 (09:27):
We must we're gonna get him out.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Elsie, come back here, come back, come back, miss speech him?
Where are you going?
Speaker 7 (09:33):
Why?
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Ken? Where did you come from? Quickly?
Speaker 6 (09:37):
Why speeching?
Speaker 2 (09:38):
What's wrong? That taxi driver Eddie Hilly?
Speaker 6 (09:41):
Is he in the cellar?
Speaker 5 (09:42):
What?
Speaker 7 (09:43):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Great scudder? I forgot all about him?
Speaker 7 (09:45):
Mister do something? Get him out?
Speaker 8 (09:48):
Look, stay here, both of you. I may be able
to get in from the other side.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Oh, can't be careful, let me help, No, no, no, what?
Speaker 7 (09:54):
Who?
Speaker 6 (09:54):
Stay where you are?
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Doctor?
Speaker 6 (09:56):
Look after Elsie. Ah.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Then seems to me there's a lot of work for
Superman tonight. Oh poor Hilly. That fires got down to
where he was.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
Well, here goes.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
He has him. He's got him head head this way
back out of the smoke. Oh, mister kin, miss.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
Bitchamin look after him with you. I'm about all in.
Speaker 7 (10:32):
Just put him down on the grass, mister kil I'll
look after him.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Who's coming around right now?
Speaker 6 (10:36):
I think?
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Why Ken man alive? How did you do it?
Speaker 6 (10:39):
Doctor?
Speaker 2 (10:40):
I don't know it was it was just luck. I
guess there was an air shaft well, the wall fell
down there.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
He was at the bottom, so all I had.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
To do was pick him up, get him out. Oh well, I've.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
Gotta be on my way again.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Now what where where are you going?
Speaker 8 (10:57):
Why don't you remember I was after that auto. I
saw the flames and I came back. Can't You'll never
catch it now, I don't.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
Want hurt to try.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
You never can tell doctor anyway. Can't wait? Come back
a minute? Can't?
Speaker 7 (11:11):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Dad, Dad?
Speaker 7 (11:12):
Why?
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Dad?
Speaker 7 (11:15):
What are you doing on your hands and knees? Elsie?
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Do you see this? I found it in the grass?
Look well, what is it? Ugly thing?
Speaker 10 (11:24):
Well, looks like a cheap hearing Elsie. That's a badge
of office. It's an amulet and it's worn only by
the highest priests of the azad Lack. But Dad, well
are they You don't understand. It's given them when they
become priests, magic power and all that, and it becomes
a part of their very lives. And I why all
at fuss? Well, don't you see, Elsie? One of those
(11:47):
priests dropped it by accident. The loss of this amulet
is worse than death, a terrible crime.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
What oh you mean?
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Let mean?
Speaker 10 (11:55):
I believe that with this Amulet. I'd be induced them
to let me borrow the Emerald of the Incas. But
I don't know where they are.
Speaker 7 (12:01):
No, but I do, Dad, at least I know where
they were going. Elsie the taxi driveris come to and
he told me they have a plane waiting, a great
beach seaplane at the central airport. Where's the car? Good Dad? Quick?
Speaker 4 (12:17):
A mad race against time and Doctor Peacham and Elsie
make the airport before the priests of Azatland take off
in their high speed seaplane. And what of Superman out
over the waters of the Sound. What will he find
when he reaches the spot where the auto Jarrow hit
the sea? Thrills, high excitement, unbelievable climax. Tune in next
time and follow the story of Superman, and remember be
(12:41):
sure to tune in the next thrilling installment of the
amazing transcription feature Superman Up of the sky.
Speaker 8 (12:49):
Whoop, it's a bird, it's a plane, It's Superman.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Superman is a copyrighted feature in Action Comics Magazine.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
All right, everybody, welcome back. Well, you gotta love it
on the plane. One of the Izitlent Indians. He was like,
no speak Yankee no speak. It is like you just
spoke it, you just spoke English. It's like no speak Nosman.
(13:29):
That was kind of funny and Clark basically, I think
Clark admitted in this that no, actually he didn't admit it.
The one of the Izitalent Indians basically told Superman at
this point that look, y'all stole it from us. Y'all
(13:50):
stole them roll from us, and Superman's like, yeah, you
know what, I don't have time for that right now,
because this is one of those storylines where, yes, the
Izlyn Indians are doing some bad things and they've already
(14:10):
killed at least one person, but I mean, doctor Beecham
did steal something from them to start with, as so now, granted,
if it will save the whole human race, that might
have been justified, but you know, they're just trying to
get back what he stole from them, and I don't
(14:31):
think either party is completely innocent, completely in the right.
I do love how when Superman is crashing the plane
into the sound into the water, he makes this comment
about gotta be careful not to be too rough or
something to that effect, and I just love this side
(14:52):
of Superman where even though he can be rough and
tough with the criminals. I love the fact that he
always deals with the bad guys or he always deals
with the people that he's fighting in a humane way.
And so yes, even though he's crashing the plane and everything,
(15:12):
he's gonna make sure that to the best of his ability,
that the people inside the plane don't get hurt. And
I just love that the you know, the moral character
of Superman as displayed here. Also like the fact that
they didn't forget about the taxi driver, and I was
afraid they would, but so far they haven't. So that
(15:36):
was also nice to hear Doctor Beecham discovers this ring
which he may be able to use for leverage to
sort of do a trade off with the Indian tribe,
and so we'll see what happens with that. Also, Superman
is going back to find that Emerald and to see
(15:58):
what's going on with the situation that he left behind
to go back to Stonehouse to resolve that situation, and
so we'll see what happens. We've only got one episode
left in this storyline, all right, everybody, We are going
to take a quick break and then we'll be right
back with part six of the Emerald of the Incas. Okay,
(16:26):
welcome back, So let's go ahead and get into part
six here of the Emerald of the Incas. The specific
title of this episode is The Sacred Emerald of the Incas,
and this one aired April twelfth of nineteen forty, Enjoy.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Presenting the transcription feature Superman.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
I'm in the Sky.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
Now Superman. Superman had left the blazing inferno of Stone
House and gone winging his way back over the sound
toward the rec daughter Gyro of the Indian priests who
had recovered the Emerald of the Incas from doctor George
Haven Beecham, world famous scientist and explorer, and set fire
to his temporary home, remaining on the grounds of Stonehouse
to watch the blaze and summon help. Doctor Beecham and
(17:20):
his daughter Elsie had both made startling and important discoveries.
As our story continues to day, we find them in
a small car racing gourd to distant airport, hoping against
hope to get there in time.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Listen, watch out, here's a girl, Elsie. You almost hit
that car.
Speaker 7 (17:39):
Dad. It's all right. Look here that thing you picked
up on the Lord. You hardly tell me about it at.
Speaker 10 (17:44):
All providential, simply providential. If we can only find those
native priests.
Speaker 7 (17:48):
So what do you do?
Speaker 10 (17:49):
I'll show them what I've found, the sacred Ambulet of
the Head Priest, almost as sacred as the emerald itself
has he Not quite but almost?
Speaker 7 (17:56):
And you really think you can bargain with it?
Speaker 10 (17:58):
Only if I can get there, Only if we can
make the airport before they can take off in their plane.
Speaker 7 (18:02):
Dad, what will you do?
Speaker 10 (18:03):
I'll return the amulet and borrow the emerald. That's all
I wanted that. I don't mean to keep it. I
never intended that, Dad, this emerald?
Speaker 7 (18:10):
Is it really as important as all that?
Speaker 10 (18:12):
Yes, Elsie, I've told you once, and I'll tell you again.
If I can recover the Emerald of the Inkers and
decipher the writing carved on its base, I may have
found the secret of life itself, possibly the secret of
life everlasting.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Oh hurry, dear, faster if you can.
Speaker 7 (18:25):
I'm doing my best.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Dad.
Speaker 10 (18:27):
We must get there in time to head them off,
I tell you we must. I wonder if that reporter
cat has found the auto gyro.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
Meanwhile, high over the water of the Sound, Superman Wings
and Wheels is marvelous telescopic eyesight piercing the blackness below
for some sign of the wrecked autogyro. I could have
sworn this was the place just off that point for
the white building. Wait, what's that far down below the surface?
(19:02):
Looks like wreckage underwater. That plane was sunk deliberately.
Speaker 9 (19:06):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
The next thing to do is pay a call at
the narrow station of the Coast Guard. Up up.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
That white house. Looks like the place plays the signal life.
Then we go right in the front yard.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Seems ashamed to wake them out of a sound sleep.
The chances how, they keep somebody on duty all night anyway,
And for the moment I'll have.
Speaker 6 (19:31):
To become Clark Kent Superman. Might amaze even the coast Guard.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
All right, all right, what's the big run? Well, I'm
sorry to disturb you, but well, what is it.
Speaker 8 (19:41):
I'm looking for some friends of mine who set out
this afternoon in an auto gyro.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Uh another gyro? Hey, Yes, you know them fellas well,
we're acquainted, we've met.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Well, they ain't here, but they've been picked up.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
All right.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Oh, it seems they had trouble and came down on
the water about a mile out.
Speaker 7 (19:57):
Indians wasn't they.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Oh well yes, more or less. Well if they ain't,
they sure got u swell ten. Anyhow, we brought them
in and.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
They beat it. Can you tell me where they've gone?
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Central Airport? They said, we couldn't understand half their lingo.
They don't speak equally.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
So hot Central airport.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
You mean they've charted another plane.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
I mean they're leaving for parts unknown.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
They told me the time.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
It's just about five minutes from now.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
Five minutes.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
So unless you're figuring on getting to that airport by
radio or flying there yourself, you're out of luck.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
It's thirty miles Oh. Thanks, sorry to bother at you.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Okay, it's too bad you missed your friends. But maybe
they won't take off. The Rameda has fallen. Looks like
dirty weather coming up. Good night, good night. So you
think I've missed them, sailor right, Well, live and learn
five minutes before they take off? Huh And the airport
is thirty miles away. Well, you never know what you
(20:49):
can do until you try.
Speaker 11 (20:50):
Here goes up up, dad, Look there it is.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
There's the airport. Oh, and there's the gate.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Elsie, what are you doing? You'll put us in the ditch.
Speaker 7 (21:09):
Sorry, can't help it, Dad, I had to make that turn.
We'd have gone right by. I hadn't.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Look what's that out there? Are there on the runway.
Speaker 7 (21:16):
That is a runway. It's a seaplane anchorage. Oh oh,
there is a flash of lightning.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
It's a plane. It's going up. I saw it in
the flash.
Speaker 6 (21:26):
Elsie.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Stop stop, help help stop that plane.
Speaker 6 (21:34):
Stop it.
Speaker 7 (21:35):
Dare, come back. It's too late, they're moving.
Speaker 11 (21:38):
Oh they're the.
Speaker 7 (21:39):
Ray, Dad, the storm.
Speaker 10 (21:41):
That must be the plane. Nobody else would be taking
off in weather like this. Why doesn't somebody.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
Come stop them? Touch them? Somebody stop?
Speaker 4 (21:54):
High over the airport, a great white seatplane rocks and
slips in the sudden grip.
Speaker 6 (21:57):
Of the storm.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Lightning japs wickedly through low cloud. Chose figures running wildly
for shelter on the field below. Chose another figure faster
than the storm itself, raising down the wind. Superman come
just in time to meet a seaplane heading south with
the Indian priests of bazat Land.
Speaker 6 (22:15):
Ah.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
There she is must be private seaplane swinging toward the
open water.
Speaker 6 (22:20):
And what fools to take off at.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
A time like this, Right, Scott, The lightning shows it
up like daytime, not that I needed. Sorry, gentlemen, you've
got a fast chip there, but it's not quite as
fast as Superman. I think we'll just put a sudden
stuff to that trip's house. If I brought down an autogiro, shouldn't.
Speaker 6 (22:38):
Wonder if I could do the same with the seaplane.
Here I come comn If I dive into the cabin,
What the great Heaven's lightning?
Speaker 4 (22:55):
All the lightning struck down and smashed the pieces on fire,
No matter falling into the water. If I don't catch
and they'll be drowned and they get there fast, down
down into the sea faster faster.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
What happened? Elsie?
Speaker 6 (23:14):
I put his seat?
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Oh, Dad, I don't know the lightning.
Speaker 7 (23:18):
Did you make it out? I said, no, Dad, I'm
not sure. It seem as if a bolder lightning went
right to the plane, and then I didn't see anything
at all. Yes, you stay under the shelter. Good dead,
good heavens Here comes mister Kent.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Kent?
Speaker 7 (23:32):
What Kent?
Speaker 2 (23:33):
What did you hearing?
Speaker 6 (23:34):
Doctor?
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Or?
Speaker 6 (23:35):
Rather? Good morning?
Speaker 2 (23:36):
You got room in here for three more? Were those
men with you? The brown men?
Speaker 6 (23:39):
Ken?
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Oh? Yes, strangest thing I.
Speaker 8 (23:42):
Was on my way here following the autogyro when there
was a flash of lightning and the seaplane went down
on the sea, just off.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
The breakwater, and you rescue them off.
Speaker 8 (23:50):
But one doctor thought it was done for the lightning
boat went right through him.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
But these two, well call it luck, my ken. It's amazing,
simply unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (24:00):
Here we are.
Speaker 8 (24:01):
There's one thing I must tell you, doctor, I had
a choice, a choice, yes, come over here a minute bit.
Well that's better, Yes, a choice. I could have saved
the baggage with whatever might have been in it. You understand, doctor, Yes,
I understand the emerald, yes, or the two priests.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
But I couldn't say both. It had to be one
or the other. Mister k We understand human life, miss Beecham.
Speaker 6 (24:23):
They've done a lot to you, poison.
Speaker 8 (24:25):
Arrows, fire, But after all while there was something on
their side too, and I couldn't just sit there and
let them.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Drown, or can't, of course not. You did exactly right.
Speaker 8 (24:34):
I hoped you'd think that it's too bad about the Emerald.
Of course, no telling where it is now. The Emerald
of the Incas is gone forever.
Speaker 7 (24:41):
Mister Ken. One of the priests he coming this.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Way, white men, you save our lives. We them, We
thank you, Lord, don't mention it.
Speaker 9 (24:51):
You have great magic, white men, magic greater than those I.
Speaker 6 (24:55):
Have seen you fly through air.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Oh that's enough of that, never mind the rest.
Speaker 6 (24:59):
There's just one thing we want it.
Speaker 9 (25:01):
We know what you want, the sacred Emerald. But it
is at the bottom of the great water.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
And then it's all over.
Speaker 8 (25:10):
And if that's the case, there's no use my keeping
this any longer. What's that, doctor, well ointman? Where you
find that on the lawn outside my house? It's an
ambulator priests samulet of the Azatland Indians. Could it, by
any chance for yours?
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Give it to me? Of course? Take it? Oh, my
goodness seems to mean everything to him.
Speaker 9 (25:31):
You think you have lost, but you have not. What
what does he mean my magic? Tell me you do
not want emerald to steal? No, no, of course not.
On the emerald was writing. It was writing you wish
to read.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Yes, that's it, That's all I wanted it for, Believe
me very well. Writing is here there? What does he mean?
Speaker 7 (25:51):
Who's tapping his head?
Speaker 2 (25:52):
You mean to say? You'll tell me everything that was
on the emeralds? You can remember it.
Speaker 9 (25:57):
We will do that, every last sign on the Jewel
of the immortals.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
But no one know what it means.
Speaker 10 (26:04):
And that's all right, my studies, That's what I want
to do. Work it out.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
It may take me years. But Kent, do you hear
what he says?
Speaker 9 (26:11):
Stead?
Speaker 7 (26:11):
I can't believe it. Maybe the secret isn't lost after all.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Once my people know what writing on emerald mean.
Speaker 6 (26:19):
Now they do not know.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
If you help them, remember, maybe you do great good
duel can't. I still don't believe it. It's not possible.
Why ken't? Where are you going?
Speaker 7 (26:30):
Mister?
Speaker 6 (26:31):
Look?
Speaker 8 (26:31):
The Emerald's gone, but everything else is all right, And
I've just remembered something.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
After all, I have a.
Speaker 8 (26:36):
Newspaper, man. This may be the biggest story since the flood. Along, folks,
I'm on my way.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
And so even though the Sacred Emerald of the Incas
has lost to humanity forever, the secret and grave gone,
it may yet be revealed. Doubtedly we will learn what
progress doctor Beacham makes at some later date. In the meantime,
Clark Kent is returning to his newspaper, The Daily Planet.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
We're unknown to him.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Another exciting adventure awaits don't fail to tune in next
time and follow the thrilling story of Superman. And remember,
be sure to tune in the next thrilling installment of
the amazing transcription feature Superman.
Speaker 6 (27:26):
Up in the Sky.
Speaker 8 (27:27):
Nope, it's a bird, it's a pain, It's Superman.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
Superman is a copyrighted feature appearing in Action Comics Magazine.
Speaker 5 (27:42):
All right, everybody, welcome back. A few quick comments and
then I'll get you out of here. So I'll love
the part at the beginning where doctor Beacham is explaining
to Elsie. Yes, Elsie, I've explained this to you once,
but I'll tell you again how important and this Emerald is.
And that was obviously for the benefit of the kids
(28:05):
listening in home, just in case they had forgotten what
the deal was with the Emerald, or maybe they hadn't
tuned into previous episodes. That was obviously for the benefit
of the kids listening back home, just to sort of
have that quick recap about what this whole storyline is about.
I also love the part where Superman, after he's done
(28:28):
talking to the sailor, he's like, so you don't think
I can make it there in time? Do you sailor well,
live and learn, And I just love those bits of
comedy and humor and sort of smart elochyeness from the
Clark Kent slash Superman character. So much fun and another
thing that I really love on a more serious note
(28:50):
there at the end, and this really just shows the
moral character of the Superman character that we have all
come to know and love. But he chooses to say
human life over the Emerald at the end of this episode,
and I really do believe that that just speaks to
the moral character of this fictional character. Of course, we
(29:13):
have a little bit of hope there at the end
that doctor Beacham, with the assistance of the Indians, that
they will be able to figure out the secrets of
this emerald and save the human race. Now, I don't
want to get your hopes up, because this storyline and
the Emerald of the Incas is never ever referred to
(29:36):
again on the show, So as far as we know,
they never did come to a solution or anything. They
just left it completely hanging, which kind of makes me
wonder why they did that if they never planned to
come back around to it. So I don't want you guys,
like holding your breath out there being like, well, you know,
(29:57):
five years ago on the Superman radio shows, they were
working on figuring this Emerald of the Incas out to
save the human race. I wonder what's going on with that. Well,
apparently it didn't go so well because we never hear
from them again on this issue. But still a fun storyline,
a lot of comedy, a lot of suspenseful moments. Hope
(30:21):
you guys enjoyed it. And at the end there we
have a promise of another storyline coming up. They don't
tell us what it is, they don't give us any introduction,
but they do promise us another one. One of the
cool things about the next storyline is that we have
the introduction of Jimmy Olsen, so that's always exciting looking
(30:47):
forward to getting into that. Thank you guys so much
for listening. If you have any comments, if you want
to tell me kind of how you like these stories,
or anything else about the podcast for that matter, you
can send your comments o t R. M. S h
at gmail dot com. Thanks a bunch for listening everybody,
(31:08):
and I'll catch you next time.
