speed of an airplane, and with a physical structure never
before attained by mortal men. Superman who walks the Earth
and goes about among human beings as Miles Clark Kent,
(02:28):
news reporter for the Daily Planet. When we last saw him,
Kent was standing in the darkness of a pine forest
above the town of Little Falls, with Editor White of
The Planet, calling vainly for young Jimmy Oaks, and suddenly
lost in the night. Also missing was Lois Lane, feature writer,
who had been carried off by Gipdinelli's gang of racketeers
and brought north to the woods. Lois had made her
(02:51):
escape as an overturned stove set prior to the gangster's
cabinet started a roaring place in the surrounding woods, but
so far she has not been found. As our story
continues today, our Canada Editor White a standing where we
left them on the road to Danelli's cabin listening to
someone crushing brought them through the wood and full up from.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
The gas station.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Hey there, wait, were doing? Have you found the boy.
No like, yeah, you tell us got any lying on
the lope this way? He had a thing. Why didn't
you keep him with you at the station? Key? Ain't
my boy? And listen he said he was going and
that was that? What was he trying to do?
Speaker 6 (03:26):
Well, there's I could make out. He wanted to find
that guy you said was in the cabin. How in
Heaven's name did he think he could do that?
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Rarely?
Speaker 6 (03:32):
He said he'd been a boy, he's got a something
who was wearing the woods.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
And I sure hope he's right. Why what do you mean? Listen,
mister Andrew's mel smell, mister White, it's smoke. Smoke is right,
he asked me. There's a brush fire smoking in the woods.
Brush fire, and what are we going to do? It's
to White, Jimmy and Lewis. You got to find him
and get them out of there. He I know what,
but how And the long.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
We wait, the herd is going to get Kid's gone
so far I can't hear us. You take my advice
and get out while he can. Well, this pie is
not to go what he.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Wants to do. Leave the boy in the woods. We've
got to find them, both of them, Jimmy, they going
to do you good. The fire breaks loosely bad, the
wind's coming up to don't stand there talking, man, We've
got to find them. Come on, give me. Recklessly making
their way toward the heart of the burning woods, the
(04:20):
hollow cries of the rescue party die off in the distance,
and almost at once, two dark forms appear in the
shadowy roadway. Shift Danelli and his follower, Spike, hiding in
the darkness, have overheard every word. Deanelli emerges from the
trees and call softly, Spike, Spike, you there, yeah, right here, boss,
(04:41):
maybe long time? Listen. Do you know where the kid is?
Not me? I guess he just did what they said
that all break for us? What what do you mean,
christ I don't know why that fire hold backs along.
Let's due to us any minute now. Yeah, so what
are we sticking around? Just to make sure that So
you're a wood something called a backfire. It burns out
(05:04):
and from the first fire. When I get that far,
they both want see because there ain't anything more to burn.
So what So that's what we're going to do right now? Weird,
good citizens? Hey, you want to know? And good citizens
help stuff fires? Come on, Spike, give me a hand.
Here wins just right too right for what for what
(05:26):

spike right here, those can carry spade into the woods.
Our fault as somebody happens to get caught in between,
break up some of that brush past, all unknowing of
the parel behind them. Can and the rescue party head
toward the center of the wood, the smoke growing thicker
at every step in the cave, no spark drifting by
(05:47):
in the night wind. While farther off, just beyond earshot,
young Jimmy Olsen stumbled between tall pine, calling desperately below us.
Suddenly spike ahead. Here's an answering cry, just lay playing.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
Where are you here? Dear wait, it's Jimmy Olsen?
Speaker 1 (06:07):

feed it out. After that, maybe I can find Lois
and Jimmy. It's got to be fast. Those plains beginning
every minute closing in. Not there, that looks like a

Speaker 5 (10:36):

to get out of the main road a couple of
miles ahead of them. Chill with the gun past. What

Hits the Bird HiT's Superman now Superman faster than an airplane,
stronger than a locomotive, able to bend steel bars in
(13:45):
his bare hands, and leave call buildings at a single bound.
Superman Champion of the Week and the Oppress who has
appeared on Earth from far out in solar Space, and
who goes about among men as Miles Clark Kent. He
was reporter for the Day Planet. When we last saw him,
Superman and his character of pluk Kent had just rescued
Lois Lane Jimmy Olsen, an editor White, from the Blazing
(14:08):
Pine Forest, their little falls, in which Gip Dinnelly, head
of a gang of petty racketteers, had done his best
to track them, and Nelly himself had fled down the
main road, but only to arrange another and even more
deadly ambush. As our story continues today, we find him
and his henchmen Spike in their black sedan, slowing down
along the road and searching for a likely place for
(14:31):
what Dinnelly has in mind. Listen, what are you looking for? Jip?
The place I remember right along here somewhere or a
little brook kind of runs under the road. You know
what I mean? Convit is that what you're looking for? Yeah,
that's it? A culvert? And when you find it, then
what eh? Okay, this will plug it? Yeah? Yeah, here
(14:54):
we are pull up. Okay, well now what bike that
bunch back in the woods, cantony piles? What do you
think they're gonna do next? So then, oh, how should
I know? Bors? Get back to town? Maybe? Yeah, get
back to town. And they still got the breecase that
day took out of the cabin. You know what's in
(15:16):
that briefcase? Bike? Well? Yeah, yeah, sure, I do record
to the tape how much we got out of the racket.
Who we got it from?
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (15:24):
And who went after it to see what you mean?
I mean? We're all in this dope, you and me
and everybody else. Flam newspaper guys, get back to town.
What's in that briefcase? I better not? That's all? Well, listen, boss,
that ain't only can get it through? What about the dame?
I know I got to pick up the whole bunch
(15:45):
of them all at one crack. And that's just what
we're gonna do, is Pike. Can't give me a hand
here too, cap all that stuff? Yeah, you know what
it is. You didn't tell me? What is it? Just
a little box, Spike. I want to plant a little
box under this culvert. See I lead a fuse off
in the field behind that fence. Gosh, boys, And when
(16:08):
that bunch of wise guys comes along in the car, listen,
how do you know that'd be in a car? Came
in one? Didn't they good? Asking silly questions? Hey, look
for it? How are you going to set the fuse
for the exact second to the rover to culvert that?
How are you going to do that? I don't meet
you there any place within one hundred feet of where
this goes off, they'll be potty clothes us. It's something new,
(16:32):
Buzzy Leary, give me to try out when I needed
to half as big and twenty times as strong as
TNT and scatters fire all over the place. Help me
look it down there. Hey, listen, boy, where are you
and me gonna be when just goes? Oh? Easy does it?
I'm going to be out in that field so as
(16:53):
I can duck in and grab the briefcase when it
comes down and before it burns. But what about free
You're going to take this car and go back we
just come from Hey, listen, let up and do what
you're told. Go back again in them woods, hide the
car and see what's doing. Get it. Okay, they do
what I think they'll do. Follow back here about a
half a mile behind. But if they don't, might quick
(17:14):
and telling me see thy Oh yeah, one thing more,
some of them might come this way, and some might
head for the nearest cop house. They separate. Keep your
eye on KNT. See listen, what if he's alone alone? Well,
heat alone. Do whatever you feel like.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
I get you.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
We make sure it looks like an accident. Afterwards, I
get going. You'll be all right here. Sure I can
handle the rest of this myself. Get back in the
car and head up the road again. Okay, good luck,
for they're the ones that need the luck, not us.
(17:57):
And meanwhile, back in the edge of the woods from
the fire, Ken Lois, Jimmy and Editor White wait anxiously
for some sign of assistance.
Speaker 6 (18:06):
Now, let's wait just a few minutes more. Nothing happens.
By then you can go back to the car. And
I'll go scutting around for the police. See, mister Kent,
don't you think we ought to stick together? We'll be
all right now, Jimmy, let's crook some miles away. They
haven't been picked up. What are you doing the briefcase,
mister White?
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Just give it a quick going over, ken See it's
too dark to see much. I can tell you what's
in it, mister White.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
Or we need to get convictions under Nelly in his
whole game.
Speaker 6 (18:30):
Honestly, no food, I'm sure I'll bride you in my ankle.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
All I had to do was sit there. So I
went through those papers just in case, in case what
miss Lane, well, in case to Nellie's men found me again,
and I just had to depend on my memories.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Say, miss Lane, you're all right.
Speaker 6 (18:44):
That must have taken a lot of nerve, boy, I'll say,
knowing they might be along any minute. Oh say, ok, here,
I think we ought to be getting on great Scott.
That's right, mister White. You shouldn't wait around here anymore.
And the car isn't very far lows. I hope we
all gave you a hand. Do you think he's a
big it? I'm really anxious to get started these papers
me too. You lean on me, Miss Layby, all right, honest,
you're sure positive, give me as good as a crunch, Really.
Speaker 5 (19:07):
Funny as a crunch, is what you mean.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Oh, come on this way, I'll pick off the path.
I don't forget the briefcase, mister wife few hundred yards
down the winding trail, with Lois bravely saying nothing of
her injured ankle. Presently the dim shape of the car
loomed out of the trees. Kent helps them in and
insist on staying behind. Look here, Kat, what's the idea.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Mister Kent.
Speaker 6 (19:33):
Aren't you coming along? No, I'm staying right here. That's
in case the police come into me other direction. I
want to be here to talk to them. Domestic hobby,
all right, honest, Look, you get going.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
I'll join you later. Well, if you're sure that's the
thing to do, Ken, let me stay too. You'll stay
right in the car, young man.
Speaker 6 (19:48):
You want to get back to Thomas quick as you can,
mister White, I'll close up any loose ends up.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Here, all right, Ken't good luck? Good bye?
Speaker 6 (20:02):
Yes, one or two loose ends is just exactly right.
And I think Superman can do it better by himself
and with three other people around. Now that first of all,
I want to know who that was thinking around in
the woods a while ago. Nobody else hurt him, but
I did, right by my ear. Those last two were
bull's eyes.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Lucky for me.
Speaker 6 (20:23):
They bounce. There's something else that will bounce too. I've
shot through him back there in the woods. Oh, good running,
my friend.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
I didn't go it. I didn't lean nothing. Oh he's
flying through the air.
Speaker 6 (20:41):
Okshly, hang put clean fun?
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Wow, now I'll have some fun come here. Let me
go quit it? How well? If it is my old
friend's spike, where's Dannelly? I don't know. I don't know
how to say one of that. Now, remember what happened
to you last time?
Speaker 4 (20:58):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (20:58):
No, no, where's row? All? Right, then you'll take a
ride up in the air.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
For my god?
Speaker 5 (21:05):
What are your god? He's taking me up in the air.
Speaker 6 (21:07):
He ain't doing two hundred feet up already, spike, and
a long way down?
Speaker 1 (21:11):

as long as you keep talking.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Quick, what's Danelly doing? He's waiting for the car? Who's car? Right?
Speaker 6 (21:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Yeah, look you go. What's he going to do? Quick?
Speaker 6 (21:31):
I don't know, all right, if that's how you feel
about it? Songs bike, Oh, slick up?
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Well you like that?
Speaker 7 (21:40):

Speaker 5 (21:41):

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Where's don't? You're all right?
Speaker 6 (21:43):
I caught you, but I may not catch you the
next time, depends on how I feel. Oh what's Danelly
going to do? Last chance? Spike?
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Here you go? No, no, he's got a new kind
of a bomb. He's gonna blow up the car well
when it goes out with the coloring new and bombs.
Speaker 6 (21:59):
Eh, that culvert's only about a mile away. They're almost there. Sorry, Spike,
you'll do for another ride? No, no, no, no, I
told you ad no time to put you down. But
you won't get hurt, not this time. If you ever
say a word about what's happened.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Tonight, I won't, I won't.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
I would remember that, Spike. Now, hang on, we've gotta
make time. We've got to catch that car. I mean,
don't catch them.
Speaker 1 (22:19):

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Gee, he should put on a breath, but I didn't.
We stop as though somebody grabbed the car from behind.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
But there's another man right in front of the headlight.
Get back, get back, getting reviice quick.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
What's he saying? There's Dyna White the.
Speaker 5 (23:15):

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Quick, get await culvert quick, dynamite. Hang on, everybody wait.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
Quick, look out.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Oh my gosh, we ad missed that one by much.
That man, he saved our lives. And where's he gone.
I'd like to know what in the world kept us
from going on to that color. Here's the wife, that's you,
Oh kid, great Scott.
Speaker 5 (23:38):
Mister Can how'd he get here? We left him back
in the woods.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Are you all right? Anybody hurt? Gosh?
Speaker 6 (23:43):
For a minute, I thought, sure, what's going on here?
Who's that you got there? Chip Tinelli, mister White, the
big boss himself. I found him lying in the field.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
He was stunned. Jip Danelli. Yes, but the other man
w the waives back.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Oh that was Spike.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
You remember Spike, Jimmy. See, I thought I.
Speaker 6 (23:57):
Knew that guy, but I just turned over and we
found him just after you left. He told us all
about it, so we brought him along by a shortcut,
got here just ahead of you. He'll back up every
word I say, won't your Spike, won't you?
Speaker 1 (24:10):
Yeah? Yeah? Yeah, sure say.
Speaker 6 (24:12):
Look, they come to State Troopers and we've got Spike
and Jip Danella and we still got the briefcase too.
Don't forget that, by Jimmy. Thanks to you and miss Lane,
the Danelli gang is smashed for keeps.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Well. Clark Can certainly will have a lot to explain
this time. Editor White is asking himself questions, almost out loud.
How long can Superman keep his secret quiet? I'm alone
can tell. But meanwhile, there's a brand new assignment coming
right up. As Candace set out to follow a weird
and exciting story. Tune in next time and don't miss
(24:53):
it up in the sky loop. It's a bird, it's
a plain, It's Superman. Superman is a copyrighting picture appearing
in Action Comics magazine.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
All right, welcome back. Well, just a couple of comments
here and then I'll get you out of here. First off,
when Danelli was explaining to Spike where he got that
new bomb from, he mentions this guy bugsy Leary, and
that just kind of came out of the blue. Who's
bugsy Leary? It would have been cool if he had
(25:37):
referenced someone that was actually on the radio show, such
as the Wolf or Keino or something of that sort.
I also love that part where Superman is going round
and round with Spike and he's like, I might not
catch you next time, just depends on how I feel.
(25:58):
And this is just classic goal in age, rough and tough,
no nonsense, Superman. You gotta love it. So we are promised.
I think the announcer said, a weird and exciting storyline
something like that coming up, and that will be the
storyline airplane disasters at bridger Field. Now, I think this
(26:22):
is where Lois Lane drops off the show for a
little while, and when we pick up, it'll be Joan
Alexander playing the role of Lois Lane for the entirety
of the rest of the show. So we are going
to have a break from Lois Lane for a while.
It's just going to be Clark and Jimmy for a while.
(26:44):
But nevertheless, it's going to be fun and exciting and
I can't wait to get into the next storyline with you,
all right, everybody, that is going to be a rap
for this storyline. I would love to hear your thoughts
about the Danelli's Detection Racket storyline once again. You can
send your comments to O T R. M. S h
(27:07):
at gmail dot com. Thanks so much, everybody, and I'll
catch you next time.
