(01:18):
at gmail dot com. Well, today is exciting because we
get into a brand new storyline of the Superman Radio
program and the title of this one is Horace Morton's
Weather Predictions. Another exciting thing about this storyline is that

(01:42):
Lois Lane is back. We have gone several storylines now
without the Lois Lane character, and that was because John
Alexander had been fired from the show. Apparently the producer
did not like the job that she was doing. But

(02:03):
the story has it that she came back and re
auditioned for the part and she got it back. So
just a cool little bit of Superman history there. And
Lois Lane is also back to stay. Joan Alexander will
play the part of Lois Lane for the rest of

(02:26):
the run of the Superman Radio program, So that is
pretty cool. I think if you're like me, you sort
of get attached to particular voices playing certain characters, and
whenever they're changing the real life actor or actress playing

(02:48):
the part, it's just not the same. So I love
continuity in the actors and actresses. All right, So let's
go ahead and get it into our brand new storyline here.
This is Horace Morton's Weather Predictions Part one, which air

Doctor Morton's weather predictions of the past year have been
practically one hundred percent correct.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Now you know he isn't just.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Nothing down their family laws, I can say like that
isn't blood. Matter of fact, he's admitted that much himself.
Oh he has right, but that's all.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
You won't say another word.

forecasting the weather.

we met them on the road and they took our carter.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Come on, mis lame, that's the observatory. You let me
take that paper and just forget about it.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Not one w sudden unexplained mystery at the observatory of
doctor Horace Morton.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
I am the lonely slope of Music Mountain. What had happened?

Speaker 4 (14:11):
What terrible secret does the assistant Rogers wish to share
with Lois Lane? What is the connection with any between
Horace Morton, world famous scientists and the thunderstorm bandits of
New Birmingham. UNI Next time and follow the story of
Superman and Stember is sure to tune in the next
brilliant Parliament of the amazing transcription feature Superman.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Up a good sky.

Speaker 9 (14:39):
Yep, it's a bad it's the game.

Speaker 10 (14:42):
It'sperman all right, everybody, welcome back.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
This storyline opens up with the sort of classic model,
I guess you might say, of Clark Kent and Lois
Lane walking into Perry White's office with Perry White about
to give them a brand new assignment. And I just
love the depiction of Perry White as played by Julian Noah.

(15:16):
It's that rough and gruff, but really doesn't mean it
all that much, sort of nature, and he's like, Lois,
I'm too old to be putting up with people from
your family. Basically, I love it. And then while Clark
and Lois are on their way to music Mountain, Clark

(15:36):
makes the joke about the rain hope it stays up
so it can't come down, and you know, just a
funny little pun or whatever. And I love those moments
because it shows that the Clark Kent character has a
sense of humor on the radio show. And that's so
good to hear because in modern DC superhero movies and

(16:03):
television shows, you know, DC always gets kind of a
rap for being sort of dark, and the character is
always being real serious and depressed and sad and all,
you know, nothing but bad happens, and it's just nice
to see Superman here being lighthearted, making jokes and just

(16:24):
cutting up and having fun. I absolutely love that we
have a nice action scene there. And then when they
get to doctor Morton's weather station, they meet his assistant
who is terrified. He's absolutely scared and he needs to
tell them something. But here comes doctor Morton. So apparently

(16:50):
doctor Morton's assistant is afraid of Ras Morton for some reason,
and there is this suspicion that Horace Morton may be
involved with crime. So a really nice setup here in
the storyline. I'm really looking forward to it. All right, everybody,
we are going to take a quick break and then

(17:12):
we'll be right back with Part two of Horace Morton's
Weather Predictions. Okay, welcome back, everybody. Let's go ahead and
get into Horace Morton's Weather Predictions Part two, which aired
June twelfth of nineteen forty.

Speaker 9 (17:34):
Enjoy venting the conscription picture Superman. I'm gonna pay Look,

Now, Superman. Can Field of the Week, can be you, friends, Ballion,
fighter for truth and justice.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Faster than an.

Speaker 8 (18:00):
Aeroplane, stronger than a locomotive. She came to Worse from
the planet Krypton, and who walked about among human beings
disguised as mild dark Kent news reporter for the Daily Plants,
sent by editor White as the planet to interview doctor
Horace Morton, well known weather forecast and uncle of Lois
Lane Kenned. Lois had had a strange adventure on the

(18:20):
road clinging pyrol bandit seized their car during a violent storm,
leaving behind them a fragment of a note which indicated
there might be a connection between the crime and doctor Morton.
On their arrival of the Lonely Observatory on Musich Mountains,
Kenneth Lowess were received by Morton's assist as Elmer Rogers
in a high state of nerves. But the poor Rogers
could tell them the cause of his alarm. Doctor Morton

(18:42):
appeared at the top of the stairs. Thus story continued
to day. Some human at at past Doctor Morton has
taken Kenned Lewis with laboratory, while Rogers has returned to
another part of the buildings. Clock strikes the half hours.
A telephone bell rings. Rogers answered, Hello Morton Observatory.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Hello, who is Roger? Yes? Oh, yes, mister Collins, Dr Lawson? Man?
Why he has visitors just now? Sir? Is there something
I could do? Miss Lane? The young gentleman named Kent
a newspaper.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
Man's not getting out any interviews.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
He hasn't just because I don't know that Lane worked
for the same paper. Interview R.

Speaker 11 (19:27):
Make sure I'm understand and then part have any hums
get off right now?

Speaker 1 (19:32):
I'm sure doctor Morton understands that's mister all.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Right, never mind that now, but I really call him outcast.

Speaker 11 (19:38):
Absolutely sure, yes, I know bog and Hale and Birmingham
and approsimately ten twenty.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Min to night, is that right? That's got Dr Morton's
not the time now the ten person. Please remind doctor
Morton is taking on the very carefully. It probably won't
want to go on with it. He hasn't failed, yes, sir, yes,
the play that don't be clear with rising temperature in
the hall. That's what Dr Martin said, sir. But I'm

(20:07):
a little word.

Speaker 6 (20:10):
That's what happened that these demonstrations was to come. For example,
the thunderstorm yesterday afternoon, what about it? There was a holder,
a payroll robber. Then the hailston last week right in
the middle of it a jurist or on Main Street
with Robin in broad dayler.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
But I can't predict it. Looks it almost looks if
if someone knew what was going.

Speaker 6 (20:35):
To happen, as if they used doctor more in demonstrations
to I kid, you.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
Know what depends on this project? Hoton can prove money
pads and then you can we'll back them to the hill. Well,
it's all just to say I don't like it. If
any day happened something don't happened to what do you do?
I shall go straight to Dr Martin and tell him
what I think. But he do you'll properly do.

Speaker 11 (21:03):
I wouldn't do that, rush, really would wouldn't you? Not
prominent just top of me? If he'd seen a gang
is pulling off his stuff and you went and stopping, well,
just consenter what your life would be?

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Good? Heaven? Do you think you probably run terrible risk? Russ?
I really do? What the time? Now? Why? Ten thirty five?
Ten minutes ago I hoped doctor Walton's predictions. I'm sure
it is very well and only remember what I say? Okay?

Speaker 8 (21:42):
Ten thirty five, ten forty little While in the main
room of the observatory, Doctor Horace Morton had attained his
guest Lois, laying his knee and ms.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
At the life. You wouldn't wise have made the tip
there's for nothing, now, would you real?

Speaker 4 (21:59):
A great part of life time in the past few
months has been given over the foiling the designs the
newspaper people.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
Kenny dreadful.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
See what you can do, really, doctor Wating, you've done
such wonders in meteorology, forecasting the weather so accurately.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
I'll give you my word.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
They're talking about it everywhere and now pleavered no, my boys,
no use, no use whatever. When I get ready to
describe my word, I'll do so in DeKay and not before.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Uncle Hire, Have you some secret system.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Possible possible best weather yours in the world are only
about eighty five percent accurate? Doctor, You're right ninety five
percent of the time. Ninety five, My dear boy, I
have one hundred percent accurate.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
How in the world are you do it?

Speaker 7 (22:38):
Exciting?

Speaker 1 (22:39):
You know all which instrument wire? It's certainly different from
any observatory I was ever in. I will answer the questions, but.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
I might give a demonstration, really, Uncle Lire more mystical meteorology,
also fortunes in TV.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
What's the weather doing outside of the moment? Because I'd
say it as clear and cool? Well? Where are uncool? Good?
What are you doing adjusting the instruments? My dear don't
come to close. Part of the molting system and the
pree use of electricity, electricity good heaven, so what a
weird life. But that uncle, what are you doing with

(23:15):
those leve directing the mechanical calculators? Please turn where your arms.
I don't worry. I'm too interested to move even if
I wanted to.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Well, first of all, we might check see what my
colleagues and rivals have to say.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
The telephone extension. They're on the table. It's again, call
this number and get the latest to weather the past.

Speaker 7 (23:43):
When self, when with my parents?

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Cool?

Speaker 4 (23:48):
All fair, clear and cool dear, And don't see what
the modern system says.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
I think we have enough to go on by now.
God what he's doing? Very well? Looking into some kind
of glass thing on the table? Might they camera? What
do you want a camera for? Most interesting?

Speaker 4 (24:09):
And once again I fear they usually respected authorities are wrong, yes,
quite wrong?

Speaker 1 (24:15):
What is the weather going to the alcohol falcon?

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Hail, my dear, and almost at once big fox and
rather say bear haile, Now if.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
You'd excuse me for a few minutes long, I surely say,
we'll be all right. I know that that's about the an.
I shan't be long.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Possibly you'd like to go out on the balcony through
the French doors there if you want anything a ring
for Roger.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
All right, come on, muslin, that's still a little observing
ourselves out on the balcony. Very cool, Wow, it's cool enough,
can't What do you make of it? I'm trying if
I know, I'll tell you this, something awfully funny going
on around here. What do you mean? I don't know.

(25:00):
But all that machinery and the electricity, well, that's in
the weather forecasting. He did so, Now, hold funk.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
Don't you believe it. I've been in weather bureaus before
and I never saw anything like that. He was barometers
and windspeed indicators and charts and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
He made a forecast. He didn't use the machinery. How
did he do it? That's what gets me.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
Well, as I could see, he didn't do a thing.
He just grabbed it out of the air. Of course,
you realized he was laughing at us.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
All the time. Yeah he did. He was having a
whole lot of fun. And if you asked me, he
didn't make a forecast at all. He just said so
the soa sauce can't? Oh man, y, well, what's happened?
Do you can't see the stories anymore? What is it?

Speaker 4 (25:49):
Well?

Speaker 1 (25:50):
For the great scot it. It's fog. A thick bank
of fog is just drifted right down on top of him.
Oh what why that good?

Speaker 4 (26:00):
What he said?

Speaker 1 (26:02):
What's the matter? Something hit you on the head. I'll
read it again. He hit me too, Miss Plain. Tailstone
tailstones as big as marble. You can't dog in hail.
It's just what he said. And he loves doing something
with all that machine.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
And I guess he was all right, certainly did make
a bang up forecast. Oh here, let's get inside before
we get rained.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
How goes away? All right? Oh, I'll say this much,
Ms Lain. Old uncle Harris is not on the ball,
all right. You sure called the turn? Yeah? Popular? He
must see it the regular weather people.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
And how calls them up, gets their report and then
makes monkeys on them.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Look at that stone and it came up out of nowhere.

Speaker 7 (26:50):
Yeah, Oh is not lighting?

Speaker 4 (26:53):
Yeah, that's a thunder.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
Usually get thunder lightning with hail. If you can't just
look at that the wind tail down they're almost picking
up to break the glen. I'm a plug. You can't
see your hand before you please. Well, even if we
don't smoke out the secret of what your uncle's doing,
Miss Lane. We'll have a swell eye with my story.
Why I love us? Oh?

Speaker 5 (27:16):
What was that?

Speaker 1 (27:17):
It sounded like a show myself. Why you stay here?
How are you doing? We're gonna see if anything happened.
I'm gonna find doctor Morton combling, doctor Martin. No use,
whatever he is, he doesn't hear us. I'm coming with you,
mister camp right, come on? Where did you think that
noise came from?

Speaker 4 (27:35):
Inside?

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Or outside? Inside? Come on down the stairs, not the
way your uncle went. Come on, we're probably while goot chase. Wait,
why don't get too far out of me If you
can't talk to there? What are you looking at? Wait?
Don't come down here, go back, go back upstairs?

Speaker 7 (27:53):
Hey, what's the idea?

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Is an excitement? I want to be in on it? No, no,
miss Lane, go back? Please, God can't walk to man?
Will you to come down? I told you? Who is it?
What happened? Oh? Way I do? Don't kill you? It's Rogers,
Elmer Rogers. Yes, you shot dead from close range. There's

(28:16):
the gunman didn't But.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Why answer me? That?

Speaker 1 (28:21):
And another thing? Now we'll never know what he wanted
to tell us when we came in.

Speaker 8 (28:33):
Another mystery, who or what killed Elmer Rogers? What was
the secret he wanted to tell Kenvin Lewis. Meanwhile, where
is doctor Horace Morton and what is he really doing
in the Lonely Observatory on Music Mountains.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
June in next time and follow the story of Superman, and.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
Remember be sure to tune in the next Brillian installment
of the amazing transcription feature Superman. I'm the Guy book.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
It's a bid ban.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Superman is a copyrighted feature appearing in Action Comics Magazine.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
All right, welcome back. I just want to say a
few comments here, then we will wrap up. The first
thing that I want to point out is that here again,
just like they've done before, and they did it in
the last storyline with Lonzo Craig and probably even before that,
but they picked up from the cliffhanger from episode at

(29:54):
the end of episode one at the beginning of this
episode they picked up up moments later. It's not an
exact sequence. It's like, Okay, doctor Morton was coming down
the stairs or he was approaching and Elmer Rogers had
something to say. And now at the opening of this episode,

(30:16):
they're all in different places, doing different things, and I
kind of hate that, because it really does just make
it feel like the purpose of these cliffhangers are just
to be cliffhangers instead of picking right back up where
they left it. We have all this suspicion about doctor

(30:38):
Morton and whether his weather predictions or whatever are being
used for some nefarious deeds, and there at the end
we also have Elmer Rogers. I keep wanting to say
Elmer Fudd, but we have Elmer Rogers being shown at

(31:00):
the end, and he's not able to tell Clark and
Lois what he originally wanted to tell them. So there's
a lot of good mystery here and we're only two
episodes in, so we'll just have to see what happens,
all right, everybody. That is going to be a wrap
for today. Thank you so much for listening again. If

(31:22):
you have any comments, you can send them to otr
msh at gmail dot com. If you'd like the show,
I would much appreciate it if you head on over
to the Apple podcast iTunes reviews and leave a five
star rating. That just helps the show out. Thanks a bunch, guys.
I'll catch you next.
