Speaker 1 (00:02):
Here's your host, Alex Garrett. All right here on the
One look Up Network. We have a lot to get to,
maybe a follow with Bob Boris Hollywood Media. Maybe also
a conversation with the former Senator Phil Graham, and of
course we got to talk to Terminelo's take before the
ECF Eastern Conference Finals kicks off. But first, but first,

(00:27):
a big shout out today to all the New York
legends that rolled through to the BTIG charity Day. You
know every year we celebrate Giving Tuesday, Well, today felt
like a major Giving Tuesday in Midtown Manhattan on East
fifty fifth Street, where BTIG headquarters is. Because the likes

(00:50):
of Victor cruz Nick's legend, Stefan Marbury, Charles Oakley, current Yankees,
Jazz Chisholm, Austin Wells, Carlos Rodon, manager Aaron and even
some celebrities like Alec Baldwin and David Weir of ABC
News Tonight all came through to support the efforts of BTIG. Now,

(01:12):
if you're not familiar with them, don't worry. I had
to learn on the go as well, because when I
heard about this from our friend Nithan, who reposted about well,
Clyde Fraser being there. I did some research and BTIG
is not only a city based company, they are global

(01:32):
and today's their BTIG Charity Day. And you know, the
charities they've supported over the years include Bowery Mission, include
Achilles now Achilles Hits Home because as someone who runs
with one leg, I was always sort of recruited to
run with Achilles because they help those who run a

(01:53):
little differently and adaptive running if you will, So see
BTIG help out those folks. I see they've helped out
Blisdeale's Children's Hospital. I mean, I'm gonna post a link
up to who BTIG is. But when these athletes roll
up to support BTIG Charity Day, they're supporting these great causes.

(02:18):
And for me being a spokesman variety of the children's charity,
being fortunate to participate in Sports Night at the Viscardi
Center every year from ages five to twenty, you know
till seventeen and beyond, even last year with Tino Martinez
coming to Celebrity Night. I've seen how athletes take time

(02:42):
out to support great causes and it pulls a strig
because I love sports and I love seeing these athletes
give back. It's part of the game, if you will,
the giving back portion. But it did something because being
around these different organizations and different charities for the last

(03:04):
twenty five years, it might have had an impact on
me more than the average person waiting for it. To
get that picture with Jazz Chism and Austin Wells, it
impacted me in a way that made me come on
the podcast day and say thank you. Thank you to
Austin Wells, Jazz Chism, Aaron Boone, Stefan Marberry, Victor Cruz,

(03:26):
Charles Oakley, well Clyde Frazier for helping BTIG have one
leg up for so many great organizations and pitching in
when needed. So I hope you consider looking into BTIG
charities more and I hope maybe one day we'll be

(03:48):
able to be in that room when they make these.
It's basically a celebrity trading day to support BTIG and
the causes that BTIG supports, and I hope to be
in the room and see all that unfold next year.
In twenty twenty six, this was the twentieth anniversary of

(04:10):
btig's charity Day and very cool to be outside watching
all these athletes come in and do their part, and
as I've talked about with the Ice Hockey and Harlem
with the three Monthson Foundation, with Variety, with Viscardi, these
are all examples of athletes giving back and really stepping

(04:35):
up when needed on and off the field, the court,
the rink. Yes, I saw King Henrik Lungbush as well leaving.
I even saw Bridget moynihan of Blue Bloods coming in
da the Daada remember her from Blue Blood So just

(04:55):
a special day to watch unfold on these fifty fifth
and again, I want to thank Nathan for posting about
this and alerting us to this, because that's how all
this happened today, for one legal Alex to be on
the scene, as so many athletes and celebrities are on
the scene when it matters the most. And I wrote

(05:19):
about this in my word press. Maybe I'll have to
edit it to talk about the way it felt watching
all these athletes come in and support the charity day.
I mean, these are guys who are gonna play on
the field tonight in four hours. Jazz is all the
men by the way, four hours and they covet support
this great cause. Hank Azaria also was there, got to

(05:44):
meet him for a second, I mean, they're all nice guys.
They're all nice people, and uh, I just I loved it.
I loved watching all these guys come in and support
the cause. And I hope you too can get around

(06:05):
to supporting BTIG. And you know what's interesting, I was
so struck. I actually tried to make that connection between
BTIG and Vascarti because I feel like their principles are
lined up. I feel like their hearts are lined up
to help those in need. And Biscardi has had a
lot of kids Blithdale's Children's Hospital, even remote learning from

(06:29):
there as well. So when I saw Blinzel, I said,
oh my god, this organization is incredible, not just Achilles,
but Blisdale and other different efforts that they list on
the website. I highly suggest you check them out. It
was a giving Tuesday in May for BTIG charities, and

(06:50):
maybe one day we'll get to partner with them and
speak on their behalf. Who knows, Maybe he's in the cards,
but for now, to be outside watching all these athletes
roll on in to do their part to give back
to the city, give back to these charities, to get
back to the community. Oh, how does it not warm
your heart. How does it not warm your heart? And

(07:13):
for me, it's special every time, from Variety to Viscari
Center to BTIG, it's inspiring to talk about how athletes
are giving back to all these different organizations and how
I've been fortunate to see it the last twenty five
plus years as we get to see those who we

(07:37):
root on. Nothing like it here in New York City, right,
nothing like it when you see these athletes helping these
charities and organizations have one leg up for the community.
