(01:17):
Team of Miles Daunton, Debbie Julian'sand staying, Godwin, not everybody likes
them. Birthday, don't care.Evening, Miles even and Gary even if
one. You're right, yeah, all good evening, Debbie, evening,
all and evening staying how are youdoing, mate, I'm doing okay in

(01:42):
yourself. Yes, I'm very well. I'm very well and good, good,
good good. First off, Iwas gonna say this after, but
welcome back, amen. I knowyou're not on the show tonight, but
I know you've been in poor healthrecently, but it's lovely to hear you're
back in your feet in and sendingthrough things for the show at the very
last minute as normal. But Ilove you for it and it's good to

(02:06):
see you on the mend. Bate. So lovely to hear. Yeah yeah,
well I agree with it, yeahyeah yeah. So I'm giving you
the amazing task of talking about Wigango and then well, thank you very
much and really appreciate it because I'vegot a lot to say. It was

(02:29):
absolutely awful, lacked in every aspect, whether it was passion, desire,
we just we were shattered. Basically, if we did go up to the
Premier League and played like that wouldbe better. About eighteen Neil it was
not good enough at all. Iknow we scored once, but that was
the only good bit of play wehad in that game. Up, I
think, yeah, I wasn't happyat all. Fair enough and Debbie,

(02:54):
can we still make the playoffs?Yeah we can. We've got to dig
this so I mean going back towhat exactly what agreeing with Miles there and
garys said we've got to embrace thepressure of the championship if we're to secure
a top six. He said fourkey players were out impacted on performance and

(03:17):
the last seven games. Based onthe performances, it had an impact.
And he also said they didn't turnout for the game. They're absolutely exhausted
and yeah, what a disappointment, complete disappointment that they've got they got so
far. As Miles quite rightly said, you know, we careful what you

(03:40):
wish for because if we go up, we'll soon be looking at somewhere else.
So it really needs they need todig deep. We need to get
it. It's if we win itat Blackpool, it may still happen.
It's in our hands and they've gotto treat it as that as a as
the final. That's it. Soyeah's let's get the behind them and support

(04:06):
them. So and they've got tolook as well at recruitment. Oh,
agreed, agreed, because we havegot a very thin squad. If you
look, and I'm sure you willhave, we've probably only played sixteen or
seventeen players over that small period.Whereas if you look to me, the
likes Blackburn, well, let's lookat Blackburn, because black but actually haven't

(04:26):
one in eight Now I think thesame like that, and everyone said,
all they're black Butter, but we'renot the only ones that's performing like that
at the moment. But look atthe loop likes of loose tournaments, but
they've probably been playing off for twentytwo twenty three players, so it certainly
does help. Stan. Do youthink the poor runner form has been let
centers drop out of the playoffs?Do you think it down to tiredness,

(04:47):
lack of players? What do youthink has happened? Mate? Well,
I think it's a multitude of reasons, right, But first and foremost,
I mean I have to say this, right, I mean, I I
wasn't at the game on the otherday, thankfully, and what concerns me

(05:09):
is and I read what the assistantmanager had to say afterwards, the next
day in a newspaper and it don'tmake good reading. And now it has
to be said, I'm afraid thatif we're playing a team like Wigan,
right, regardless of whatever the excusesare, right, if we if you

(05:30):
know, if we can't turn ateam over like that when we got when
we're in the chance for promotion andthey're fighting against relegation and here's something seriously
wrong at our end. Okay,Now I'm not I'm not saying it's the
manager's fault, but what I'm sayingis, at the end of the day,
the players have to take responsibility. You know, It's as simple as

(05:53):
that. And if and you know, I mean I read it and what
then what the assistant manager was sayingwas fair enough? Now does that Does
that give me confidence that we're goingto do it tomorrow night? Know?
It? Certainly don't? Right?I mean, I have to say to
you, although it's in our ownnames, I would like to think that

(06:13):
we're going to do it, butI have to say I do not believe
that we're going to do it.I believe that we're going to fall again
at the final hurdles. Right ifI'm proved wrong, fight, But do
you think the fact that it's beenin our own hands for so long has
been oh we just we're just limpover this one, we draw one one
that we're going to do that.Do you think we just got too complacent

(06:36):
and now we've dropped out? Butyou see, if we think that,
then it's all wrong, right,I mean, let me let me just
say this. Look at look atfor example, I was talking to George
about this today Sheffield United, right, I hear all these excuses about this,
that and the other. The SheffieldUnited, the Sheffield United manager.

(07:00):
His job is to produce the winhim and win football matches. Right.
He's done that and got promoted.Oh and by the way, he's also
got to the semi final of theFA Cup at the same time. None
of this swapping players out and prioritiesand all the rest of it. And
they've got a life to learn aout of that, and he achieved promotion

(07:23):
last night. Now, if thequestion is if they can do it,
why can't everybody else do it?Because it is but it is the mentality
right now for you know, andI don't accept this nonsense about because it's
the FA Cup as a distraction andall that rubbish because that's all he ever
come about since they're coming to thePremier League. You never heard that before

(07:46):
ever, But now so my thingis the mentality has to be right.
If they're thinking what you said,Gary, then then they're something wrong.
There is something to be about mindset. No, I know, agreed.
Look at loot and Looton. Imean, look at Looton seven years ago

(08:07):
they was in the Non League. They are on the verge of getting into
the Premier League. I mean, right, they've got to get the brakes,
but they're on the verge of it. Coventry eight too far beyond it.
That going to do with big wageus. Nothing to do with players
on big budgets and all that cobblers. That's another load of rubbish. Look
where they are. Yeah, they'reon a lot of budgets for us,

(08:30):
some of them. Well was Debbie, do you agree with what stands staying
there? Yeah? Absolutely? Imean we also only lost two strikers,
we didn't replace them and then sowe've been putting a lot of pressure on
the individuals that are out there. So that's why I said we've got to
look at recruitment. But yeah, and as I said, when I said,

(08:54):
Dick deep, it means get yourselvesout there and go and every play
a team. Here's the thing, though, Debbie, you say about recruitment,
and everyone has been saying exactly thesame on the internet, and I
agree we do. I've got toadmit, yeah, yeah, but let's

(09:15):
look at the bigger picture. Iknow Phil Coleman always mention says this,
Yeah, it's wonderful. We wouldexpect every player to want to come to
our club. Everyone we go after, every time we make an offer,
they should come to our club. But unfortunately sometimes it ain't like that.
And I think I've got to understandthat because I'm one of the ones thinking,

(09:35):
oh, why is he a lotsigned? Why? Sorry I was
saying about the transfers, but sometimesthere's so many things that come into play.
The player doesn't want to move club, the player doesn't want to move
country. The player doesn't want tomove down the country. The player might
not get enough wages. The wifemightn't want to move because their kids are
at school. All these things haveto be taken into account. We're not

(09:56):
just playing FIFA a lot of thetimes which the players just turned up,
but we just have to get togrips with that, and it's unfortunately harsh
on us because we would like tosign all these great players. The Scottish
play boat this bit. I'd lovefor him to sign to him, but

(10:18):
that one sugar up for some reason. But we'll have to see, Well,
can I can I just say this? Can I just say this?
Scary? Because it's an important pointthat you make. Right. For example,
come the end of this season,we've got five players out of contract,
right yeah, now one of themis uh Cooper. Right now,

(10:41):
I don't know whether I don't knowwhether Cooper is going to be standing,
and I haven't got a clot right, But what I'm saying, he's in
a posit if he decides, ifhe's already decided that he wants to go,
but he might be making deciding ornot to decide, depending on how
this slot turns out, right yeah, or I've already made his decision for
all we know, right, butif he goes right, I know what,

(11:05):
I know what the starting point isgoing to be. With a lot
of people, I would have clubbedit and do enough, of course,
and what but you see the problemswith it. It's not right because when
a when a player as they havenowt of the freedom of contract, right
if he decides that he wants toleave, right like Declan Royce. We're

(11:26):
being told he's out of contract theend of this season. Right then he
wants to play in the Champions League. That's what he's now. If that's
true, he don't matter how muchmoney west Ham offer him. They're not
in the Champions League next season, and he wants to play in the Champions
League. Right But people will say, oh, well they've left because the

(11:48):
club haven't done enough. Well,I'm afraid there are times when you don't
matter. The guy out of Ibernian, right, it was all done and
dusted. Apparently he did the dealways agreed between the clubs and whatever,
and it had been agreed with theplayer, and then everything was hunky dory,
and then all of a sudden, the next morning it all goes along.

(12:11):
The bloke changes his mind straight away. People turn around and said,
oh, well there must be moremoney on the table. Where go somewhere
else? Never did never went anywhere? Did he never went anywhere? Right
now you're also that you've got clubsat budgets, so that's right, So
absolutely so, this idea it's allabout money all the time. It's simply

(12:35):
not the case right in all thetime, but it becomes a convenient excuse.
Sometimes that becomes a convenient excuse forfailure, right a failure. But
on that note, we will listento our Debbie Julian's but talking about our
sponsors with JEM Motors. But justbefore that we're listening to Paul Owens from

(12:58):
FISHERFC. Hi. I'm Paul ormill and Fisher if C supporter. There

if the no one likes a teamof Miles, Debbie and Stan many thanks
to our sponsors gin M Motors ofGravesend and Mepham. So Tonight's guest what
should I say? Tonight's guests voiceis familiar to all MIDLL fans. You
can't always get to middle games homein a way. He works alongside Max

(14:31):
in the commentary box and is wellknown for saying, well you can't.
Can you believe it? When middallscore? What a pleasure it is for
me to say, welcome back tothe show, mister Carl Bates, Hi,
Carl, Hello one and all?How are we? Hell? Car?
All right? Carl and yourself?Good? Yeah? Yeah, I'm
fine, thank you, I'm fine. Sorry, Debbie, So Carl,

(14:56):
I just mentioned that in the beginningto one est, I only really not
in the last couple of goals andI've been listening to that is something you
actually say quite quite a lot, isn't it? Well? Can you believe
it? But it probably is.One thing I always noticed is I quite
often say absolutely. And also it'sin the back of the net. They
too seems to be my trip hazardsthat the minute I say in my brain

(15:18):
I'm doing the Homer Simpson, don'thave done it again? So you don't
mean to, but yeah, youjust get caught up in the moment.
You can't help it. But beforeI hand you over to Debbie Miles's standard
night mate, how did it allcome about? I know you've mentioned it
before to us, but for thosethat don't know, how had it come

(15:39):
about? That you are Mill's voiceon a Saturday afternoon? Long story?
Really, I started off my mumunfortunately died of cancer when I was young.
I was only seventeen, and shelistened to a lot of hospital radio
when she was terminally ill. Andthen I happened to one of my first
jobs and to work with somebody whodid hospital radio. He asked if I

(16:02):
wanted to go along, so Idid a bit of self therapy really and
it went really well. I enjoyedit and he then wrote off didn't help
me. He just wrote often toa local radio showing Lincoln. We did
a Saturday morning breakfast show there fora while. I then sent off my
sort of CV to the BBC,just totally blind this is me or like

(16:25):
football XL and Z here's a littledemo. Got stupidly lucky. Got an
phone call from Emma Joslyn, whohad a ridiculously long job title, saying
that we're looking for somebody to comein and guest read out the full time
scores live on BBC this Saturday. Are you free? Funnily enough, the
dory went straight out of the window. Yes, I am went along.

(16:47):
I presumed it was a wind up. I thought one of my mates had
found out turned up it wasn't gotto meet Gary Lineker, etc. And
then Ray Stubbs passed it over tome at six o'clock read out the full
time scores live on BBC. Onedidn't fluff it, thankfully. Then my
CB's gone up quite significantly. Therewas an advert Guardian newspaper football commentators wanted
so through him a hat in thering, so to speak, and got

(17:11):
lucky. The first guy didn't turnup because he had to get a replacement
bus and didn't want to do that, so I did. I went along.
It was Barnett in League two playingMansfield, went along as co commentator.
Funny enough it was an ex millballplayer Jason County, who missed the
lake penalty in a one all draw. And yeah, did Barnett for a

(17:33):
year and a half voluntarily as aco commentator. And then Barry, who
was doing it, he moved alongto do something different and I moved in
on the payroll. Covered Barnett fora few years when they got relegated,
did bits and bobs for the BBC, just helping out the games here,
there and everywhere. And then whenDino stand in, I stood down after

(17:55):
his six hundred and seven years atthe club or six hundred and eight,
I can't remember. It looks likesix hundred and seven. Bless him.
I saw him at the last games. I think it took it took a
light out of him. YEO isstill in good form and yes, so
Billy Taylor contacted the BBC. Doyou know anybody? They suggested myself.

(18:15):
I had a chat with Billy. It didn't take long at all. You
know, we sawed things out veryquickly and I think I've been at Millwall
now over five years. So that'sthe very shortened version of is working in
football commentary and very pleased behather you'repart of the Middall team now. Anyway,
Miles over to you, Hi,Hi kle So as the voice of

(18:37):
Millwall on a Saturday afternoon, what'sit been like following alliances ship? Tiring
in all? Honestly it does seemalmost like the Northern League. We do
spend a lot of time traveling.I'm very lucky we have a really good
sort of budge. We're quite aclose knit, close knit little family.
The media crew, myself, MattBilly, Mark Litchfield, Dan craw he

(19:00):
now has joined the crew, BrianTom for the photographer. You know we're
going up and down the country, but we all genuinely get on. We
all have a real laugh which reallyhelps, especially with the down times when
we've lost, for example of Wiganor at Hull. So but it is
tiring, but you have you havesome great time and as fans were all
the same, you know, allof the defeats and all of the woes

(19:21):
will go out of the window. We go and beat Blackpool tomorrow night.
So it's good. It's good fun. You know, I wouldn't be changed
it for the world. I'm verylucky, as I say, to work
with a really nineteen and I lovemy football. So where else would you
want to be on a Saturday ora dues or a Wednesday or a flipping
Friday with the sky getting involved?Well, hopefully I'll be on that this

(19:41):
soon as well. I know that. Well I didn't Hi Carlin's DEVI here
I cast at the point I don'tlike to say where did we go?
Rather than going to say how doyou think we could have improved on the
last couple of games? And doyou we can turn it around tonight?

(20:03):
I hope So, I mean Ithink the last couple of games. I
think the main problem has been,in all honesty, squad depth. There's
certain players that we just quite simplycan't rest. We haven't been able to
wrest Jake Cooper because either Hutchinson orCresswell or Murray Wallace has been injured.
We haven't been able to rest GeorgeSaville in recent times because either Billy Mitchell
or Leonard has been injured, wecan't reside and Fleming, we can't rest

(20:26):
on Bradshaw. And if you listento any good football manager, they'll always
talk about the spine of the teambeing so important to them, and the
spine of Millwall's team just I thinkis running on empty at times. We're
okay for the first forty five fiftyminutes, so we say, and then
the last twenty five thirty minutes we'rehanging on a bit, And even when
we get players back, we loseothers. The minute we get Mason Bennett

(20:48):
back, for example, George Honeymangets injured. The minute we get Billy
Mitchell back, Ryan Leonard gets injured, the minute we get Hutchinson back,
Cresswell's injured, and then Mary Wallaceis injured. And when you've got a
small squad, I mean, we'veseen it when we've played games that other
teams are making four or five substitutions. And yes, personally I think maybe
Gary could make more earlier. Idon't necessarily just I don't disagreement half of

(21:12):
the substitutions, but I think maybeten minutes earlier. But what do I
know. At the end of theday, he's got Millwall very close to
the playoffs, so you know,if he gets us over the line in
the next two games, what anincredible job he's done. All right,
Carl, who's been your Who wouldyou say this season has been your player
of the year so far? It'sa tough one because you have to try

(21:37):
and look at it over the wholeseason instead of the last few games.
So you try and look around GeorgeSaville, because he's been superb the last
four or five games. He reallyhas stood out like a sore thumb.
But I'd say overall, for me, it's Tom Bradshaw. I think the
effort he puts in every game goesunnoticed because half the time he's feeding off
scraps, he's feeding off long diagonNorse's battling up against center halfs. He

(22:02):
wins a hell of a lot ofheaders. He wins a lot of balls.
I mean, I remember Vogelsamer's goaland what fot bradgwood us superbly backed
into the center half, bullies him, knocks that gets the ball down,
lovely layoff, great finish, andhe's our top scorer. I think he's
had a wonderful season. Thankfully,he's been injury free Touchwood made that continue
until the end of the season.C Yeah for me, Brad has over

(22:23):
the whole season is the one forme. Cookyle you mentioned about traveling up
and down the country and loving it. But what has been your favorite goal
to commentate on this season? Afavorite match this season? I would say
the favorite match would actually be Itsounds a bizarre one, but Whatford a
way, reason being, I've neverseen Millwall play so in all of my

(22:47):
five years commentating on Millwall, I'venever seen us play that well away from
home. What that didn't have asniff the whole game. We were all
over them right from the start onthe front foot. You know, We've
got the early goal from Vogel Samwith Oz and got one later on,
but you know, two nil flatteredthem. I thought we were super of
the whole match. As for favoritegoal, it would have to be the

(23:08):
most unprofessional I've beam when the goal'sgone in, and that would be the
own goal at Swansea in stoppage timewhen me and Master Tyle of Viewery scored
because we'd sat there were at theback of the main stand. The Swansea
fans all around us very happy withtheir night's work. They were all heading
out the door with a big smuggrin on their face and rightly so they're
tuning up going into stoppage time. All over Millwall. We've been not into

(23:32):
the game at all. Suddenly there'san own goal. BBC had come to
me just for an update. Iwas like, well, Millll have got
a consolation goal. You know it'sa two one, you know they've got
a bit of all. Hang ona second, Scott Malone's going down the
roll got laugh and then just completechaos kicked in as their player headed in
at the far post. So thatwas probably my favorite moment because you just
become a one hundred percent fan andforget remotely what you're doing for a job.

(23:57):
Yeah, so that was was ahell of a moment. Debbie,
I'm just gonna jump in quickly onthe back of that. So I don't
actually know the answer to this question, Carl, who do you support me?
Yeah? Well, being honest asin now, I am a I
am a Millwall fan. I'm notgonna you know, I can't deny that.

(24:18):
I'd like to think it comes acrossin my commentary. Yes, when
I first got into football, I'ma Cambridge United fan. That's where I'm
from. I went and watched Cambridgeup and down the country in the days
of Dion Dublin Gary Rowitt. Thatwas weird when I first met him,
Consid and I used to stand inthe Newmarket road and cheering him on as
a fallback, so that was verystrange met in him and Funk. Bizarrely,

(24:38):
Cambridge and mill Will have got quitea good relationship with the likes of
Stevie Claridge Rowit now you know variousplayers like that that have played for both
clubs. So yeah, Cambridge,I still keep an on Cambridge's results,
don't get me wrong, but yeah, Millwall is my is my team now,
no question. Fantastic to hear,Dee. Just so listen, what

(25:00):
do you think is going on prettymatch before tonight? What do you think
Rabbit is actually saying and all theteam? Do you think his message will
beat I'd imagine it will be.I think what us fans have been telling
ourselves, looking at the fixture list, looking at the teams around us,
and thinking, yes, Millwall's formhas been poor. Yes, quite rightly,

(25:23):
Millwall fans, you know you lookon social media, you talk to
Millwall fans. Generally, they're reallyunhappy. They know that if mill would
have any vague run of form together, they'd be they'd have secured the playoff
spot already. But I would imagineevery single other club around US is having
those same conversations. So many teamsare just falling over themselves. West Brom

(25:45):
we're in a great position. Theystarted losing games. Preston at once they
were doing very well. They startedlosing games. Blackburn were almost clear,
you know, they look like theywere going to be third, pushing for
the top two. They've now fallenaway Norwich after they beat US three two,
practically doing a lap of honor aroundthe pitch, they've now fell away
as well. So yes, theform has been pulled. But I honestly

(26:06):
believe if Millvill could win their lasttwo games, I think they'll get a
playoff spot because I think Coventry willdrop points at Middlesborough last game of the
season. Oh sorry, Carl,Right as sambody who's had epilepsy, do
you like to raise people's awareness ofepilepsy? How do you cope date?
How do you cope day to daycoping with this condition? It did get

(26:32):
me down when I first got it. I mean that was over twenty years
ago and I was having seizes moreregularly. Now I'm very lucky, you
know, living in the modern worldthat you know the medications superb. I
now haven't had a seizure for probablyaround seven or eight years, so I'm
truly blessed in that sense. Butwhat I do, as you mentioned about
raising awareness, I myself Leon Legg, professional footballer, Mattie Crooks at Middlesborough,

(26:57):
Jay Bothroyd, a couple of otherpeople that work within the media or
football industry. We've formed a WhatsAppgroup. We're almost like the A team,
but we're more like the E Teamfor epilepsy in the fact that if
something's wrong and not right, peoplereach out to us within football and where
you go and basically sort them out. As you may have seen us with

(27:18):
Reading Foot Club when they were advertisingon their shirts before a Millwall game and
advertising on websites, etc. Abouthow they were having an all inclusive day
bringing all the kids together regardless ofwhat their distabilities were. But they said
at the bottom of it, bythe way, we can't include kids with
epilepsy. So we all pretty muchalmost went over there via phone calls and

(27:38):
emails trying to find out why,and it was just a lack of education.
So we basically got the charities involved, got other people involved because there
was a ten year old kid whowanted to go with his friends to a
party and played a sports day thereand they weren't allowing him to, but
they contacted us. We sort ofkicked in, and when you've got professional

(28:00):
football is arguing the case that whycan't attendue or play football, you've got,
you know, very thing nice tostand on. And they quite rightly
looked into it and apologized, andthe kid went along and had a great
time. So I do it morethat way by raising awareness than being personally
affected myself. I'm very lucky thatway. Well done, brilliant. I

(28:22):
can't go And this was Debbie's originalquestion, but I'm actually really glad she
asked her question because I hadn't thoughtof that question. So well done,
Debbie. But I just want toask. We all know about the infamous
chair incident and knowledge, but haveyou had any other funny incidents following the
lines up and down the country.I know Max is a bit of a
character, what else has happened onyour travels. Maybe not everyone knows about

(28:48):
and you just thought, you knowwhat, I'll bring that up to that.
Oh maybe maybe we can't say shouldI tell you guys or not?
Um, you know it's attempted,it's nothing, it's nothing major at all.
Um TONSI our photographer who you maywell know or may not know.
Basically because we've got our own WhatsAppgroup, we're up and down the country.

(29:11):
We're messing about to try and relievethe boredom. Sometimes TONKSI just happened
to pull a funny face. Somebodytook a picture of it, and that
was on our Whatsap group and classesfor rather amusing Max the character that he
is. Use that photo and sendit now. And every time we go
for our media accreditation on our lanyardsis Tonxi's face looking really stupid. So

(29:32):
TONSI has to walk around grounds witha stupid funny face of him on his
official landyard. So yeah, Sothat's that's our very mature humor, whether
we're on our travels. So yeah. So if people you see TONSI down
the football ground, look at hislanyard, he looks rather silly, Super
Carl, there's never enough time andI can listen to you for hours on

(29:55):
a sud the afternoon. I loveyou everything you do for us. But
before I go, We've got askedyou the judical question Friday night, eight
o'clock. How are we getting on? I think it's going to be one
Nili's away. I don't think it'sgoing to be a classic um And if
we win, it's going to bea set piece and Sean Hutchinson, who

(30:19):
hasn't scored this season captain's orders,is going to get it. There's my
prediction for the date to scrape aone nil hutch to get it. But
wouldn't it be nice for the teamthat played on for this season to turn
up and do a bit more damage. Yeah, wouldn't it? Just wouldn't
they do it? Brilliant Thaks Calfcoming on the show. It's absolutely brilliant

(30:41):
as always, talks to you onceagain. There's still so much to explore.
All the best to you and yourfamily and we'll get you back on
the beginning of next season to talkabout either Premiership football or the Championship against
look forward to it. Take carecold, Thank you very much, Thank
you very much. Card. Wewill now listen to Pat talking about the

(31:02):

Coblo Lane. Relive those mostly glorioustimes with us in your program. Should
you not be able to make thegame, you can buy online from sm
program at ProtonMail dot com. That'ss p R O g R A m

(31:49):
E at ProtonMail dot com. Thankyou, I'm your host, Gary,
and with me either. No onelikes a team of Miles, Debbie and
do. Let's hear from the lovelyEllis Paris here. Thank you for watching
my videos. Now to hear whatthe Millses and Romans had been up to.

(32:12):
Andy here? Who is next?Up for Gary? Rowit and the
line? Come on now? TheLioness is Young and Old played this weekend,
and our Jeff filed a report thisis Jeff Bernard's reporting on Merville Lionesses,
and this week it is the undereighteen squad who are in the spotlight
because they landed the first senior Cupwin of the Lioness's recent history, and

(32:38):
certainly since they were in the FAWomen's Championship before their administrative relegation by the
Football Association, they entered this cupwith their under eighteen squad, but it
is a senior competition and that decisionwas validated by then reaching the final and

(32:59):
going one step further than that yesterdayby winning the trophy. They were in
fact never behind. They scored aftertwo minutes to Ellie Hinckley and then again
through a brilliant right wing shot byChloe Bryan after about eleven minutes, and
this did look like a very verypromising start. Mull hadn't won anything in

(33:22):
a senior Cup for some time,so the excitement level was great. A
crowd of over eight hundred people werethere, largely I think because of the
fact that Brentford, the home wereplaying on their home ground even though this
was a neutral match as a cupfinal. Towards the end, Brentford did
pull one back again to make itthree two and this led to a very

(33:45):
exciting seven minutes of stoppage time. But in the end it was the mill
Wall supporters and players who were overjoyedat their victory. Earlier in the day,
the first team had played Sudden Unitedaway from home and they had another
disappointing result, going down three nailsto three late goals, after having had

(34:07):
one or two very very scorable chancesearlier in the game. Chloe Burr Grace
Seely both came close before halftime, and then Chloe hit the bar on the
sixtieth minute, only for Shanna Geordanito come in and head the rebound narrowly
over the bar. So a disappointingday for Jack Wheeler and his first team,

(34:31):
but overall the club are delighted tohave landed silverware and this is a
great indication of the fact that theyare definitely on their way back. They
will be playing in another cup final, the Under eighteens next Sunday. That
is the London Under eighteen Cup,so this is not a senior Cup,

(34:52):
it's an age group Under eighteen Cupand that game takes place at carl Schorlton
on Sunday and the kickoff will beeleven pm. Thanks Jeff, and the
Romans also paid this weekend paulading intouch. Hi. Oh it's Paul oading
from the Millwall Romans with a littleupdate from last weekend. Just sobell you

(35:13):
guys. We had a couple ofmarathon runners on Sunday as well. Andy
Dolan and now Jamie Carriger ran inreally good times about sort of four and
a half hours. They both didin which is really really good. Really
pleased them and raised a lot ofmoney, so congratulations to both. So
the Romans played at home this weekend, late kickoff at four o'clock due to
the to marathon running past. Iwouldn't say it was our strongest game.

(35:37):
We sort of started playing around relativelywell, but it didn't seem to click
somehow, and we were trying toplay a little bit too direct, I
think, getting a little bit frustratedwith with Titans defending up against Titans heroes
on Sunday. So we had bitsof it where we were playing playing around
the back and playing it quite nice, and then we'd get a little bit
frustrating and play a bit more ofa direct ball which didn't seem to work,

(36:00):
and we we I think, don'tget wrong, we had a good
result in the end seven three, but I think the three goals that we
conceded, you know, it's nota good result for us. Our goals
against is very strong in the leagueand I think I think we've sort of
walked away a little bit disappointed we'veconceding three. However, it's three points
and it is it. We're closerto take in that title. We've still

(36:21):
got Stokey to play, who arevery very strong team. We've still got
Phoenix to play, and also wehave got the Dreddy Chelton who are hot
on our towels, currently second inthe league. The only lost they've had
is against us in the yearly well, so that's going to be a nice
little challenge. But on to thisweekend, it's the big semifinal GFSN weekend

(36:42):
against Yorkshire Terriers. In the GFSNsemifinal, Leicester and Dublin played last weekend.
Dublin very strong side beat Leicester,so they are waiting for the finalist.
So we're gonna We're gonna give outour all on on Sunday prior at
home against so Freedom. So wewill be there all afternoon and we'll be
staying there, The Romans will bestaying there after the game suits and watch

(37:06):
the Pride hopefully get their their firstwin of the season. Romans playing at
half past one on Sunday and predictionfor tonight's game Blackpool mill Will getting the
feeling now obviously watching mill quite quiteclosely that it's really really frustrating. You
know, we have some good resultsand then some not so good results and

(37:30):
they're so close to get in there, and obviously we're two and the one
from our so we'd love to seethem go up to the Premier I'm just
gonna say, Low, it's away. I'm just saying it's a one
Neill win for Millwall. Thanks Paulas that seems to be quite a popular
score line at the moment. Soit's done to the quench games. At
the business end of the season, black Black Boy in the bottom three,

(37:52):
but I've won two out of thelast three and they still side they win
the gamest us within the last gamein the season and the results go their
way in the final fixtures. Willthe Lions finally get back to Winnie ways
and finally returns to the form,or the Lions rise up the championship,
it is said, now must wingame for the Lions. Miles, I'll
come to you first. You've heardfrom Carl earlier, who speaks a lot

(38:13):
of sense. Do you think there'senough in the Lions still to get us
over the line? Well, um, yeah, yeah, You've got to
stay positive, of course you have, and I do. I'm going to
stay positive, and I'm gonna gowith Carl. I'm going to go with
Paul, and I'm going to sayone, Neil Mule, I think Tom

(38:34):
Bradshaw will get the goal, Okay, Um, Debbie, happy to you.
Always optimistic, and I think they'regoing to pull it out of the
bag. And I'm going to goto one. It's my favorite one.
It was my dad's lovely score,So always to one. And we're going
to pull it out and stand wellif it let me fade. If if

(38:59):
they can't eat, if they can'tget up tomorrow, And I don't care
who the who the players are onthe field right or on the bench right,
I'm not interested in excuses for injuriesor nothing like that. If they
can't get up for that game tomorrow, right, and if they can't win
that game tomorrow, then the reasonthen we would have failed, and the

(39:21):
reason we would have failed is becausewe've not been good enough over X amount
of games. Right, there's notThat's all they have to They have to
go and win that game tomorrow.Personally, I'm not convinced they're gonna do
it, but I hope they do. Right, But if they can't,
because you're not gonna We're not gonnakeep getting these chances again because it's going
to run out. They if they'reserious about promotion, they must win that

(39:45):
game tomorrow and then they must beatBlackburn the next game. It's as simple
as that. And if they can'tget can't get there at together for that,
well, ever help us, hesays, you know, I mean,
I think we've got to stop kiddingourselves here, and we've got to
start, you know, saying what'sright and what ain't right. Right,

(40:05):
We've all through this. We wegave a bad result, and all of
a sudden it quite it don't workout so bad because other teams have fallen
down round this thing. All right, Well we're still in with it.
At some point that's going to runout and you ain't going to have that
luxury. And all I'm open isthat it don't run out tomorrow night.
But if we can't, if wecan't beat, if we can't win tomorrow,

(40:30):
then you know it's it's it's it'sover. It's over. Give us
a score line those stand before you. Well if we win, if we
win, I'd settle for a one. You'll win and who scores to go?
I couldn't care less if we win. Yeah, fair enough, right,

(40:51):
I personally think we are going towin tomorrow night. I am going
to stay positive. Like Cole weresaying earlier, we have got it in
us to go and do what digitsteams like Watford, and I think if
we can get an early goal thatcalm the nerves, and I think we'd
be comfortable to my two or threenil and I will hold us to that.
We just got to basically go anddo what other teams aren't doing.

(41:14):
Well, We're not the only onesthat are trying not to do this.
We just basically got to buck thattrend and push on. M Can I
just say this right? And Iwas, and I listened to what Goal
said about set pieces that bothers me. That bothers me because I remember a
couple of weeks ago listening to theloot and manager after the game, right,

(41:35):
and he turned around and said, now, think about what he's saying
here. He said, when theywas playing us at the den, we
that had to make sure that theydid was for the last ten minutes of
the game, make sure that theygot the groups of us at set pieces.
Right now, what they what hewas saying was if we were going

(41:55):
to score, they was going toscore from set pieces. Let's what he
was saying. Yeah. Well, but I say one thing, they stand
just at that point, just tocome at that juncture. The two goals
that scored. Obviously the penalty wasdifferent, which was never a penalty.
Um, but I don't care itworks in our favor. But I'll say

(42:16):
one thing is they're saying about thelong ball, they're saying about free kicks,
and they're saying about this and that. The two goals that are scored
by those two teams, one wasfrom a long ball and one was from
a free kick. So yeah, but what I'm saying, yeah, No,
But what I'm saying is right hesees to if they if if and

(42:37):
the chef was United managers said atthe beginning of the season, you know,
we we The reason we're failing,in my opinion, is because we're
one dimensional, or as Ted saidthe other day, we're predictable, and
it's predictable around the fact that youknow, we look to scores goals from
set pieces. The problem is withthat when it don't operate, when it

(42:58):
don't work, we struggling. Youhave other ways of scoring goals, not
just on set pieces. Now,all I'm saying is that looton manager fast
that out. We didn't offer athreat on the ground it would only at
set pieces. That's what he wassaying, and that's and that we may
not like it, but it happensto be true. It happens to be

(43:21):
true. That's part of the problem. Oh Greed agreed on that note,
we will take a break there andlisten to our Bethany talking about the Middle
Community Trust. The work of theMiddle Wall Community Trust makes a big difference
for people in Lewisham, Southolk andNorth Kent. Times are getting tougher and

(43:45):
to help them make a difference, you can help too by making a donation.
Give a one off donation or amonthly amount. Your support is crucial
in raising vital funds for their work. Or by fund raising for them.
If you're running, swimming, cycling, cooking, dancing, parachuting or anything

(44:06):
else, why not do it forthe Millwall Community Trust. Interested then either
email inquiries at Millwall Community dot orgdot UK or phone two seven seven four
zero zero five zero three. I'llsay that again. Email inquiries at Millwall
Community dot org dot UK or phonetwo oh seven seven four zero zero five

(44:34):
zero three. Thanks if you can. I'm your host, Gary and I'm
with you with me, I havethe no one likes a talking team of
Miles, Debbie and Stan. Ifyou can do any of those things that
I meant that Debbie, sorry,Bethany mentioned here will go a long way
to support the mill Community Trust insupporting the needs of the community. Our

(44:57):
next guest is our fan in anddugout. She's a friend of our panelist
tonight, Debbie. Welcome to theshow, Dawn Turley. Hi, Hi,
you do sound excited, Dawn.I know you're you're a bit apprehensive,
a bit shy, but don't worry. Just don't enjoy us and we

(45:19):
don't buy Dawn. Before I letyou off to Debbie and the rest of
the gang, how did it cometo pass? That you are a mill
fan. Um, it's free.My dad really, he's he had family
that were that used to live upnear Millwall, and so he used to
go up there visiting family. Andthat was back in nineteen eighty three that

(45:40):
he started. And because Mill usedto back then used to play on a
Sunday, he used to go upat the weekend see family, then go
and watch them. And then itjust kind of stuck and he got my
mum into it, and then meand my brother come along and we were
we were involved and then and nowmy kids are involved. And yeah,

(46:05):
now once it's in the blood, you don't really look back. Yeah,
I'd do that too. Well,I've got a little six year old who
if if I even say you're notcoming he was joking there, of course,
people run away and start crying. He loves it so much and he's
completely addicted already. So exactly wherethat comes from? Yeah, brilliant,

(46:27):
Miles. I'll pass you first toask your question to the dawn I dorn
mask and what's your normal routine forSaturday afternoon game at the DEMPU? So
we travel up from Brighton. Weactually live in Brighton, so we either
drive or get the train. Soonce we're close to the dead, we

(46:50):
head to the mill Cafe and myson he goes off. He's made quite
a nice group of friends there,so he goes off and normally playing football
outside like the club, shopping stuffuntil the ground opens and we end up
talking to people, seeing people inthe cafe chatting before heading into the ground.

(47:12):
And yeah, you know, seeingthe people, the friends that you've
made there, the Millwall family, and on the way back, were ever
you know, happy with the scoreor you know tier four or it's complete
silence if we're shocked at what we'veseen. Hi, Dawn, it's lovely

(47:35):
show. It's writing too, don'tyou. Yes, yeah, the season
seems to have gone a bit stoutover the last couple of weeks. Do
you think the Lines will do enoughto get over the line and get into
those playoffs? Well, I mean, yeah, it hasn't. It hasn't
been great the last few the lastlittle while. I think it's just always

(48:00):
that hope that gets you, thathope that you always have, that you
want to believe that we can stilldo it. You know, it's it's
such a shame how we've played theselast few games. You know now these
two games have become so important thatwe've got to we have no choice but

(48:20):
to get results out of these lasttwo games. I think I hope that
we can do it. I wantto believe we can. Like you know,
we we have that ability to playreally well, like when we traveled
to Watford that you know, that'sthe best I think I've seen us play
this season. So you hope whenyou listen to the showback Cole mentioned that

(48:44):
exact game about twenty minutes ago.Yeah. Yeah, that's the thing.
It's like a vast difference. We'vegot that ability to be able to play
that way and to to win likethat. It's just whether or not we
can step up and perform like that. I think if we can get an
early goal, I think that willgive because it will give the players that

(49:06):
confidence to be able to go outand to try and win it. I
think we need they need us asfans to be on their side. I
think they they get a lot ofconfidence from us being on their side.
So I want to believe that wecan still do it and that we don't
have to rely on the other teamsaround us for us to be up there

(49:28):
with a chance still Yeah, Icouldn't agree with you more. There do.
As they always say, you knowthe crowd is the extra team,
then yes, really it does.I think that's the important. The important
thing is that we it's very it'shard to feel positive like at Wigan it

(49:51):
was hard the way that they wereplaying, but we've almost need to be
behind them and try and give themthat extra bit of confidence. Yeah that's
so true, So true. Hellodown following the Lions can be indifferent,
as we all know. But butwhat match would you say with your greatest

(50:13):
memory following Meal Wallum No, there'sbeen quite quite a few. But I
think when I talk about people aboutgames that stick in my mind the most,
I think that it has to bethe Cup game against Everton. I
think the whole atmosphere of it wasthe you know, the pouring with rain,

(50:36):
the dead was packed out, andthe goal that at the end,
it just it was just magical.Really, it's it's it's their moments that
you go for and you go throughthe bad times, but those moments are
the ones that the special times.I couldn't disagree. I was with my
niece that day, my dad wasn'twith me, and we were literally flabbergasted

(50:59):
when mister Wallace popped up in thelast year. No one expected him to
be there, and the influenced NeilHarris shouting at the shouting of the commentators
behind turn off the screen, turnoff the screen. Well, yeah,

(51:22):
you go to almost every game, don't you. We do. Yeah,
Well, my son he hasn't misseda game yet this season, so he's
yeah, he is trying to getall of them in, which hopefully touched
with it should it should happen.Yeah, but I've only missed a couple
of this season. We try andgo everywhere. Are you there tomorrow?

(51:44):
We are indeed, Yeah, yeah, leaving tomorrow morning. Excellent, we'll
bring us back three points tom Pleaseto the Lionesses as well. You watch
those, don't you? Yeah,yeah, we've me. I've taken my
daughter to see a couple of theLionesses games because she's massively into football now
she's playing football. She plays forthe Brighton Academy as well, so she

(52:08):
absolutely loves going to watch them too, So it's it's it's really nice to
be able to do that with heras well. I watched him a couple
of weeks when they played Bromley intheir first match, and I was surprised
at the talent, really really goodstand at the football at that level.
I can only see him growing intobeing a solid team the next couple of

(52:29):
years, hopefully getting back to wherethey belong. Definitely. Indeed, thank
you so much, Dawn. Ihope that wasn't too painful. No,
it was great. Thank you forhaving me. That's okay, it's great
to hear you. I wish allthe best for tomorrow night. Please,
as I say, bring us backthree points and good luck for the last
couple of games of the season andwe'll get you back on in a not

(52:51):
too distant future. Yeah, thatwould be great, very very soon,
Dawn, very yes, that wouldbe great. Thank you, Thank you,
take care and we'll take a breakthere and listen to our w again
list. Talking about the Lions FoodHub, let's hear from Harvey Brown.
