Oh no, everybody. So, what's hot, what's not? What's wet?
With all the rain we've been getting. Yeah, I'm in
the process of remodeling the gallery. We've been rained out
two days to separate different days of moving some furniture
because you don't want the furniture to go with Well,

thank you for being with us, but I want to
do the last few weeks. The last couple of months
have really been interesting because usually in the summer it's
what we call the dul drums, meaning it's slow, it's
not the season. Well, I I somebody's watching out for
years truly, because I've had a very good summer. And

over the weekend last weekend, a couple of deals came
through and I thought, you know what, I got to
share this with you. So you may own these, you
may not, You may want to own them or not,
but at least I want to share with you. Now.
If you remember a few months ago, we did a
show about everything that I could think of on collectibles.
(01:21):
But we're not going to do that. I just want
to talk to you about my experience the last maybe
sixty days. What's hot and what's not. Obviously my specialty
and my mate's just everybody.

You know.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
My main specialty highwaymen, paintings, Florida art and then coins,
paper money, baseball cards, sports cards, stamps and autographs and
anything documents, paper stuff like that. So that's my specialties.
But in addition to it, you have so many others,
and that's what I want to talk to you about today.

First of all, five as High Women. Well, you don't
have to listen in front of you now if you want,
I'll run my mouth for a minute while you get
something to write with, because I'm also going to give
you throughout the show some dates of some shows that
you want to plan ahead that we know about, and
especially the one for October nineteenth, which is next week.

So the first thing, as far as the High Women,
they were originally twenty six Hall of Fame from two
thousand and four, being inducted to the State of Florida
Artists Hall of Fame. Of those twenty six, some are hotter,
some of that, Some are most in supply, some are
less in demand, then again, there's no set rule. Everything
(02:45):
is based on one word condition. The condition of the coin,
the basebook, card, the automobile, the battle, the painting, the book,
all about condition. But given all things being equaled, everything
is good condition. And uh, four of the high women
right now have have had their values kind of come
(03:09):
down or diminished a little. And they would be Sam Newton, Willie,
Willie Daniels, Uh, Roy McLendon, Daddy and Uh, let's see
who's the fourth one.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
I'm trying to go through them.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Others, Well, I got to listen in front of me.
I don't have the sheet that I sheet and left
in the car. So Sam Newton, Roy McLendon, Willy Daniels,
and there's one other one. If I think about it,
I'll tell you those are the ones that are still wonderful.
I mean the painters they are and Harold Newton, and

Harold is probably amount. The best problem is supplied demand.

Uh.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Somehow in the last year a whole bunch of these
paintings were released to the market and they've been absorbed.
They've all been bought. It's not that they got trashed
and thrown away. It's just the prices realized. Whether private
sales through dealers or auctions. Those four are have got
(04:19):
I've come down in price. So if you think about
investing in Highwayman paintings, that you may want to consider that.
So we're talking about Harold Newton, Sam Newton, Willie Daniels,
and Roy McLendon.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
So you could get a bargain on them, Yes.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Right now you can.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Okay, Well, I'd love to have Harold Newton.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Yeah, well I just host saled a couple of paintings
of the from that group to another dealer and Dewey
dealers work. You know, we all have different clients. Tell
and I know who I catered to. I know what
my client's like, and you know, generally speaking, So that's
number one I wanted to talk about. Now, what about
Florid Art. Well, before we do that, let's go to

the I told you what's not hot right now? Well
what is hot? Well, probably one of the number one
as far as increase, he's probably a sleeper. Rodney Demps,
He's a suralist. Rodney Demps is like the opposite of
Harold Newton. Harold was like the kingpin. That man was
(05:31):
second to Baccus. He is a fantastic well, Rodney is
a suralist. But if you go back to the nineteen
seventies when he painted on apsent board, Rodney painted like
everybody else, gorgeous, gorgeous, stunning work. But if you go
to the nineties and two thousands, he was a surrealist.
He painted what he saw, and what he saw is

not necessarily what we saw. And now they've taken off
the last six months, his prices are probably increased, but
fifty percent more.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Well, how does Alfred here go in that mix? As
far as Harold Newton is always like the one that's
held at the threshold, if you will.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Okay, Well, Alfred used to be a lot higher. Yeah,
he came down. He's kind of leveling off, and so
his prices have been stable, so to speak. A good question.
So a number one, no question of Rodney demps. The
other one that aral Lewis. Oh wait before that, Willy
Reagan his prices. He's alive, but he's not painting anymore.
(06:35):
Very talented, one of the nicest people you'd ever want
to meet. I talked to him, see him regularly. But
it's the people that collect appreciate his art. So WILLI
Reagan just wonderful, but that's on the uptick, So Rodney
Demps and Willy Reagan and the uptick. All the others
(06:58):
are more like the search ones are very difficult, and
Charles Walker is very tough to buy. Not many out there.
Alfonso Moran very tough. Didn't paint many, probably one hundred,
one hundred and fifty paintings. Wow, So he's tough. Well
in Reagan somewhat tough because he wasn't prolific. But of
(07:20):
the two Walk, Charles Walker and a fond of Iran
not net order necessarily the Buckner brothers have their paintings
have held up very very well. So Al Black's prices
have up up. You know, he died in May, and
interesting enough, dealers ran out of inventory and so they
(07:43):
were buying in between the public wanting a piece of
Al Black's art. And we will be by the way
after the halftime. We're going to review a new book
about Al Black. Okay, and it's a wonderful book.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
I have a question about that, Ralph. I don't want
to put you on the spot, but you in your inventory.
So people listening are enamored of this, would you be
able to get any of those paintings of the twenty
six hiremen if people were interested in a certain one, yes, okay, yeah,
so they could call you up and say, okay, I
want to Rodney Dempse. I know it's scarce or whatever,
(08:20):
but I want you to find me something.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Well, keep in mind the gallery by the Galleries at
eighteen seventy two Commerce Avenue in Vero Beach. My phone
number nine five four five five seven six two six
our the Commerce Avenue gallery. We've got somebody the dealer

that was there today ask me. We probably have upwards
of eight hundred paintings in the gallery, you know those
a couple of hundred at least a couple of one
hundred or more out of the twenty six. Now I
don't have one of all the twenty six, okay, but
I have several of many of them.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
And you have access to get something.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Anything is obtainable, right, It's all about how much, right
everything unfortunately, the supply demand and the rarity, and of
course what they're looking for. And you'll always pay a
little more if it's a red points. The andertry people
love that point.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Yeah, that's their hallmark.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Yeah, and I love them too. Gorgeous it's just a magnificent.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
One thing that I heard years ago, and I don't
know if it's still accurate. Is most of the highwaymen,
if I'm saying this correctly, did not paint people into
their pictures.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
They would be it was rare. It would be more
like silhouettes of people. So you wouldn't see the veins
in the end, you wouldn't see the face in the ears. Yeah,
and so on. Yeah, there's silhouettes outlines of the physical
body from the head to toe.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
And and I was told that that would be the
one to look for me because they're more rare. Regardless
of the pain or not to interrupt you.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Around your absolutely correct. When you see a car in it,
I washed your lady. We can wash the little children
that play, or let's see, or a boat or the fisherman,
any of those. Now, if you see somebody flying your kite,
no high woman ever painted, to best my knowledge, fly
(10:22):
a fly a kite. But if you want to see
in Alvis Presley, al Black sold the painting with the
boat in it to somebody, and then somebody says now
that it's mine, and Alvis Presley as the fisherman in
the boat and he did. Ye, But I wonder wort.
(10:42):
We're about a minute away from the break. When we

information that I realized last night while prepping for preparing
for the show, and then I want to go in
into more of the what's hot and what's not. I'm
going to give you a listen to some really quite
a few things that are not.

I was thinking about watching some of the baseball games now,
and there's a couple of teams in there that haven't
been in in a while, you know, but they've got
some really good pictures. I wondered, you know, what their
baseball cards would be twenty years from now?
Speaker 2 (11:16):
You better think about it. What are they worth now?
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Well, that's what I'm saying. It's actually too late because
now their names are out there. I'm thinking Torkleson and
some of the other ones. I can't think of all
of them.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
That one picture is just on fire, and I'm like, wow,
I wonder what his card was a couple of years.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
She I just read about Missy this morning.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Okay, there you go.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Yeah, No, people have been buying these cards when they
were of the baseball players when they were in a minor,
minor league, a triple yeah, and in college even but
by the time their rookies under their baseball cards have
been bought, their rookie cards have been bought, and they're
son for ten twenty thirty thousand, one hundred thousand dollars. Yeah,
(11:55):
I'm the come meaning hope that they make it. Yeah,
but that's part of where I'm gonna up to you.
What's hot? What's not? Okay, we're perfectly right until we're

Purple Heart Kate Project. What what is that all about?

Well, Ralph, we started this several years ago a group
of carvers and we just to hand carved canes and
present them at no charge ever to combat wounded veterans
and gold Star families. Right now we're a couple of

hundred into it.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Wow, So what does that have to do with an
antique car show. What does one have to do with
the other.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
Well, they seem diametrically opposed, don't they. Well, Hey, I'm
a gear head at.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Heart and I've seen you cars.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
We are a five O one C three. So to
raise funds to purchase our wood and the different materials
that we use, Bill Mianote came up and said, let's
do a car show. So we are on the proceeds,
we'll go to the Purple Heart Cane Project. Like I said,
just purchase our supplies. We're all volunteered. There's nobody paid

for anything.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Okay, so there's no it's a nonprofit obviously. And so
the date that we have that I've written down a Sunday,
October nineteen. Now, have you got the flyer in front
of you? Like I do?
Speaker 3 (16:13):
I do have the flyer in front it great.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
I did speak to Bill this morning and he told
me that there there there there may be another couple
of spots available inside where the vendors will be indoors.
And uh, there's still some spaces available for people to
register their vehicles.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
And if you're worried about the rain, you know, if
you make a depositive register and there's no show, I think,
Am I right? You get your money back? Yeah? Okay,
So and if any of you are worried that you
won't get your money back, I'll give you the money
back and Bill pay me back. If you got to
worry about Bill, and if you've got to worry about Lloyd,

you better worry about the economy. Yeah, okay, So tell
us about the show from the Obviously we're both looking
at the flyer. So, but let's people hear it in

Oh, we're going to have it at the four Pairs
Elks Lodge on Fifth Street, six or eight South fifth Street.
We're going to have Carlos as DJ. We're going to
have food, We're going to have a raffle. We've got
twelve plaques going out to different categories of cars. We're

hoping to get sixty between sixty and eighty cars.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Oh wow, that would be sweet.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
And some of them go back to your time in era.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
In other words, you have to you have to wind
the radiator to start it.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Yeah.

Actually, my time is where you jump start them.

Yeah, mine's the horse time that to be, but.

Not jump jump. When I said jumpstart, I'm talking about
somebody sitting pushing the clutch and somebody's pushing it down there.
Oh yeah, yeah, that's what we did. Okay. So it's Sunday,
October nineteenth now six o eight South Fifth Street in
Fort Piers for the Oux Club. Is that us just
literally off of US.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
One, right, yes, sir. You can actually see the building
and a lot from US one. It buts right up
to US.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
One, so they'll probably see the cars that are already
registered when they drive by US one.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Am I right, yes, sir, And there're be parking across
the street. Okay, go down, have a good time. There
will be food available inside, and we're just hoping to
have a really good day.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Well we will, and just so you know everybody, Uh,
this is again self serving, but for a reason. The
vendor show inside there's no registration fee for the automobiles.
It's only twenty dollars a car or vehicle. That's very reasonable.
But I have committed to two booths inside the vendors show,

so we will represent the Highwaymen Art gallery inside. Shila
will be there, my art director outside, we have free
parking spaces, a ten by ten tent cover tent, and
we will have their available for purchase. Over one thousand
die cast cars, all sizes, new and old, and I
(19:35):
bought a collection, and that's one of the things that
when when Lloyd, when you when we finish our a
couple of minutes here, we'll go back. I'm talking to
our listeners today what's hot, what's not? And die cast
cars evan hot? So okay. Now, if they want to
pre register for a car to or for the or

for the vendors indorsed booth, they can call Bill correct.

We are also going to have a table inside. Uh.
Some of our carvers have made us flags out of wood,
and uh they're absolutely amazing. Well, I think we'll have
two of them there for sale, yes, sir, yes, mindful.

How big? How big is the wood flag?
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Uh it's a fair size. I don't have the exact measurement.

Five four by six, uh eight.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Yeah, yeah, some probably three by six. Yeah, fantastic and Uh.
When you you purchase that, you will also get to
fill out of paper and to sponsor a cane.

Oh that's nice. Yeah, and if you buy the flag,
do you get the winner of the car show.

That brand new? Yeah, there you go.

Corvette die casting. Yeah, okay, everybody. So it's uh October nineteen.
It's a Sunday from eleven to three uh six o
way South fifth Street in Fort Pierce. It's the ELX
Club and Lloyd will be there. You'll see the Purple

Heart canes, the antique cars, and you'll see the die
cast and you'll have vendors inside. There's food, there's fun,
there's rainfl music by DJ Carlos, and maybe you might

what's hot, what's not? And yes, antique cars depends what
they are if they're real beating. I mean literally, whether
you're getting out of the farm, they're not hot, but
you're going to spend so much money and when you
get through then they're gonna be hot. But you'll sell
(23:06):
them for less than what you put into them to
restore them. So restoring is very expensive, but that's not
the big time. If you've got a hybrid and paintings,
you got damage, it's reasonable and uh to restore it.
So and I love buying damaged paintings because I can
see past the damage. Uh.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
That's a good point, Ralph.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
It is people are scared away by it, but there
are people will fix it.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
Yeah, and I'm not scared of it. So yeah, you
can always call me uh dolls pre World War uh
pre or post me World War two and post World
War two. After the war those dolls are they're they're good.
They're good collectibles. The problem is find the buyers because
(23:52):
the younger people don't want to buy dolls. They don't
collect dolls. They don't collect a lot of things, but
they do collect. But the older people for the middle age.
I'm gonna call myself middle age eighty years old, but
I don't collect dows. I got my wife. I don't
need anymore about that, isn't it nice? Yeah, let's see
if my wife will talk to me when I get home.
(24:13):
We're gonna take the halftime break now, right, yep, Okay,
when we get back, we got lots more about collectibles,
and I want to share a story with you that
I realized yesterday about me, in the relationship with me
and the High Woman movement. And then we're gonna have
