On this month's serial killer episode we profile Herbert Mullin, who terrorized Santa Cruz, California, in the early 1970s. Born in 1947, Mullin’s life spiraled from a promising high school student voted "Most Likely to Succeed" to a paranoid schizophrenic driven by delusions and hallucinatory commands. Believing his murders were necessary to prevent catastrophic earthquakes, Mullin claimed 13 lives over just four months in 1972–1973.
