(00:11):
Welcome everybody to the Paparazzi Podcast. It's been a while, it has it's
been too long, and we sayit. You know, if you go
back and listen to the past sevenpodcasts, I think the first thing we
say is it's been too long andwe need to do them sooner. But
it's hard. It's hard to coordinatewhen I never know where I am,
(00:31):
what day of the week it is, where I'm going to be in five
minutes, and it's it's difficult.It's difficult. We've We've told you in
the past. You know, we'reworking on it. We're trying as hard
as we can to get them outto you with not too long of an
interval in between. But yeah, sorry about that, guys. This is
(00:51):
a nice early Christmas present for you. It's a typical long distance relationship.
It is not easy. That's exactlywhat it is. Made We are in
a long distance relationship at the moment. Well, I see Jedi's wearing a
Christmas sweater. Absolutely tis a season. I've had this one for about fifteen
years. I think I remember youwearing that last year. I think I
(01:14):
did. It's a nice wooly cardiganwith Christmas trees and reindeer on it.
I had a Christmas party to goto, a ugly Christmas sweater party,
and I ordered one from China thatdidn't come in time, so I had
to spur the moment by a newone, which I liked the new one
better. It was a It wasa Christmas tree on the front and at
(01:34):
the but it wasn't the Christmas tree. It was a It was a beer,
a green beer, and it hadChristmas lights around it in the shape
of a Christmas tree, and atthe top was a star. But the
star was an actual gold bottle openerhanging off the top, and I was
opening everybody's beers all night. That'sme. I like that, It's pretty
(01:56):
cool. I like, do youremember that? Were you at the Christmas
party the our old agency had yearsand years ago where they handed out all
of the staff members Heidi and Spencercalendars? I do. I still have
my Hidie and Spencer calendar. Itwas at James Beach in Venice, right,
yes, yeah, yeah, Iremember that. And I never got
their book or their calendar autographed. No, I never, I never.
(02:22):
I've never was given a book.Yeah, I got a book too,
that's up. In my closet thatI never got autographed by them. I'm
kind of bummed about all those years. Yeah, Heidi and or Spencer next,
let me see me out just toask me about my book. I'm
gonna I'm gonna crack open my drinkhere. I'm staying at a double Tree
(02:43):
in a location that I cannot tellyou about at the moment. And they
had no they had beers in thefridge, but they were all bottles.
So I've opted for a high NoonSun SIPs, which is a vodka and
soda and it's black cherry. Oh. That's kind of nice. Wow,
(03:06):
and not much of a crack there. Well, we're back on zoom,
so it's got the crowd, it'sgot the crack the crack filter on it.
That was a hard one to work. I'm gonna go for a different
approach here. I am actually drinkinghomemade eggnog, oh, that I made
just before the show. See,I have no idea what's in eggnog,
(03:27):
but I've never tried it because ithas the word egg in it. So
I'm gonna jingle this like a jinglebell. Oh, I hear a nice
cube. Cheers, Merry Christmas.Cheers, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year,
because you probably won't get another podcastout of us before New Year's you
never know. So mate, whatis in an eggnog? Well? I
found it. I listened to alcoholkind of drinking podcast where they go over
(03:52):
different kinds of alcohols and drinks andcocktails and stuff like that, and there
was a recipe that sounded good andthe people that were drinking it say that
it was the best they'd ever had, and I kind of put my own
spin on it. So in thisone, it's actually you put in a
blender and you blend. You blendsix eggs. Oh, okay, so
(04:13):
you've lost me. I wouldn't beinterested in it. You blend six eggs,
a little bit of heavy cream, some some whole milk, okay,
a little bit of sugar, youknow, like a quarter cup of sugar.
I put. I put a littlebrown sugar in. It calls for
a little bit of nutmeg or vanilla, you know, fresh vanilla, stuff
(04:35):
like that, but I put,I didn't have any vanilla, like fresh
vanilla. So I grabbed one ofmy Trader Joe's bourbon barrel aged maple syrups,
and I just put a little dashof that in there, and then
a little bit of nutmeg. ThenI put I put a bourbon in it.
(04:56):
Okay for my alcohol. You couldput anything. You can put rum,
you can put a sherry, youcould put brandy, you know.
But it wasn't just taste of likea cake because it sounds like you're baking
a cake. It's so good.It is so good. It's definitely the
best egg I've ever had. Didyou have eggnog without the egg? They
would just be anog. I'll havea noog for the next one. But
(05:19):
I mean, if someone told youthat it didn't have any eggs in it
and you were just to drink it, you would not have a problem with
it. Are you feeling festive alittle bit? It's cold in La.
Have you Have you been down tocandy Cane Lane yet? Candy Cane Lane
is going to come up later onin the podcast when I tell my stories.
(05:40):
There's been a long time debate ofwhere candy Cane Lane came from.
Now I know there's candy cane Lanesall over the country, maybe even all
over the world. They're all kindof named to where all the Christmas lights
are, Like the congregation of Christmaslights. And there's a big, huge
one in Torrents that I grew upgoing to and it's basically a drive through.
(06:04):
You can walk it, but it'shuge. So people like this.
So that's the candy cane Lane thatI knew. But there's a candy cane
lane here in Alscundo that that hasbeen going on for a very long time.
And there's been a long time debateof where the original candy cane Lane,
at least here came from. Well, the very last home on the
far left, at the end ofa cul de sac, the address is
(06:27):
twelve to twenty five. Okay, what does that mean? Oh yeah,
Christmas Day. I didn't even knowthat. Yeah, all right, that
was my theory. Okay, wellthe the it will be settled by the
end of this podcast of the originalalready miss it. We did it so
much. We did it every singleday in December last year. Yeah.
(06:48):
Well you lived right next to it. Yeah, so it's a nice easy
walk over there. Really miss itand the kids get and that started last
weekend, so amazing. There yougo. I guess you should get into
some paparazzi stories. Sure, youwant to get into yours? First,
Yeah, I mean I've been ona ton of stories. I literally just
(07:11):
had to look at shock. Yeah, I know, my invoice list to
see what I've done, where I'vebeen and what I can talk about.
And out of there maybe a dozenthings I've done since we last spoke,
only three or four of them haveactually you know, worked out and I
can talk about because some of theothers, I guess I might end up
going back to another time and youknow, trying to complete the story.
(07:33):
But had a really good trip toPalm Beach, Florida last month. I
think it was. It might haveeven been the month before now goodness,
Tiffany Trump, Donald Trump's youngest daughter, got married his at Mara lago In
in Palm Beach, which was itwas awesome. I got there a couple
(07:57):
of days before the wedding, wasworking with with Nate dog Um and some
other people over at the Mail andit was it was funny. Actually there
were obviously Secret Service were everywhere, and Nate and I way back in in
what was the episode called saying whenI got my Secret Service badge and pin
(08:24):
way back then, But on thistrip I didn't actually converse with any of
a secret service, but Nate didAte. Nate ended up with a pin
nice and so did one of thereporters we were working with. So I
was pretty jealous about that. Butthe reason I didn't encounter or like come
face to face with any secret servicewas because the day of the wedding,
(08:48):
I was on a boat. Cuethat I'm on a boat. I was
on such a sick fucking boat.It was awesome. It went so fast
and we were like bouncing all overthe place. So Mara Lago is the
ocean is one side of Mara Lagoand then there's kind of lago and then
(09:11):
like a like a I wouldn't callit a canal way, but it's you
know, it's another body of waterbasically. And so the morning of the
wedding, we wanted to check outthe front of Mara Lago, the ocean
side, to see if you know, anyone was out having brunch or some
(09:31):
bathing on the beach because it wasa gorgeous day. So we were in
this boat, me, another photographerand a reporter. And when I was
told we were going to be ona boat, I was expecting, you
know, just a tiny little pieceof ship boat basically, there's just going
to be bobbing in the ocean. We were on some high powered, like
(09:52):
hundreds of thousands of dollars boat thatjust went like the absolute clappers. It
looked like a big old fishing belt, right. It was awesome. Oh
I put some pictures up right,Yeah, you post them, Yeah,
except you were fishing for other things, yeah, exactly. But this boat
was fucking awesome. It went sofast, it was so high powered,
and I was like worried about gettingkind of motion sickness. I did take
(10:16):
some some pills beforehand, but itwas so smooth, and we were going
like forty miles an hour on thisboat, and it was just it was
just cutting through the way. Itwas so much fun. And we ended
up getting Jared and a anchor havinghaving brunch on the ocean side before the
wedding, which is really cool.It was some nice pictures. They saw
(10:37):
us and kind of high tailed itinside as soon as they did, really,
but it was it was just niceto get something that we knew nobody
else was going to get. Yeah. And then so we hung out for
a few more hours, kind ofjust just hanging out in the ocean basically,
and then I think the wedding wasmaybe three or four in the afternoon,
(11:00):
and then you know, an hourbefore we drove a boat round to
the other side and kind of approachedslowly, and there were Secret Service guys
kind of on the on the wallof Mara Lago yelling us get back,
get back, go away, goaway. So we, you know,
we backed out and got out ofthe out of view of them for like
(11:22):
thirty minutes or so, and thenas the wedding was approaching, we kind
of just sailed back in. Andby this time they'd called the like Marine
Patrol whatever it was. But turnsout the captain of our boat, his
father is an ex cop and knowsall the Marine Patrol, so they didn't
care that we were there or whatwe were doing nice. And I was
(11:46):
on I was on my one tofive with a doubler, so I'm shooting
at a thousand meal, so I'mgetting some some real nice stuff. You
know. We see the Donalds,we see Jared Novanca, we see Don
Junior, we see what's the otherchap called his other son, mate boy.
Yeah, I forget his name.We see mate Boy. Yet some
(12:09):
pictures of them, and then Donaldwalks kind of down the aisle, so
we're seeing that, and we're theonly photographers on a boat with this angle.
There's other snappers kind of on thebeach. Nate's on a beach on
a sixteen hundred, so he's gettingstuff from his angle, and there's other
(12:30):
snappers along the bridges, and they'vegot a crappy angle because I'm talking to
one of them on the phone whoI'm working with. And then as they
you know that it's a it's abeautiful scene. I put pictures up.
I'll put some stories up as wellas the podcast comes out. So they're
kind of up on stage surrounded byflowers, and I've got a shot straight
(12:52):
through the flowers of Tiffany and O. I can't even remember the guy that
she carried. Tiffany and him likelooking at each other, smiling, just
looking at each other adoringly through theflowers. Just and you're up on top
of that boat, like as highas you can be on that boat,
right and I'm in the crow's nest, so you're so you're probably what twenty
(13:15):
feet off the surface of the water, probably higher, yeah, probably higher
right up in the water, gettingan angle that nobody's got and is and
is the boat bobbing at this time? Are you are you just? Are
you just up and down? Exactlywhat It's like. I'm like one second,
I'm looking at the water, andthen I'm trying to find them.
(13:37):
I found them. Then I'm lookingup looking up at the sky, back
down at the water, just shaking, like I know. It was so
hard to shoot, Yeah, reallyreally hard to shoot. I've done it
a couple of times like that.Yeah, it was so difficult because just
the littlest bit of motion in thewater and with the boat moving as well,
(13:58):
and it was it was very It'swhere you are up so high too,
that mean, because that's that's that'sthe worst place to be. That's
the worst swaying really. But basicallyas soon as, like I said,
you're up down side to side,as soon as you kind of lock them
in, you just and then youlose them again. You've got to try
and find them again. It was, it was difficult, and it was
it was quite funny. I forgotto say, like the day before we
(14:22):
were getting arrivals and all that kindof stuff, and I'm on the shore
and I had this this German TVcrew come up to me like the day
before and you know, just askwhat I was up to and all that,
and I started talking to them, not knowing they were filming me.
Like I was just just having anice one on one chat with a guy,
(14:43):
and like I looked at my leftand it's just a camera in my
face. And you know, I'ma sucker for that. I love it.
So I was hamming it up talkingto them for ten fifteen minutes,
given them, you know, somegreat stories and whatnot. And then the
day of the wedding, when Iwas on the boat, he called me
to see what I was up tobecause he wanted to do another piece of
(15:05):
me to camera, you know, photographing the wedding and whatnot. And I
actually said, oh, I'm ona boat, and he said, oh
great, we're getting a boat lateron when we're on the water with you.
Can I try and do an interviewwith you as you're shooting the wedding.
They're gonna mike you up. Yeah, well just do it from from
boat to boat. So I'm like, yeah, sure, I mean if
(15:26):
you can get something of me,great, I'll try and you know,
talk to you as much as Ican while we're working. So there's three
boats on the ocean. On thewater. There's me, you know,
shooting the pictures. There's the copboat which I mentioned just now, and
then the German film crew on theirboat, which is kind of you know,
just they're shooting a little bit,but they're they're low to the water,
(15:48):
so they're not getting what I'm seeing. But they're they're videoing me photographing
the wedding, which was just itwas hilarious and as well, I didn't
They followed me back to the hoteland we did another piece to camera as
well, so that was kind offun. Is there a video of that?
There is? I think I showedyou, but the link has since
(16:08):
since doesn't work anymore. I shouldhave done a screen recording of it.
Really. What was so funny isI'm obviously talking in English and the guy's
asking me questions in English, butthe video that came out he was dubbed
over, like he dubbed over himself. So he's asking me questions in German
and then they dubbed me over,so I'm speaking in German as well.
(16:30):
That's funny. But as they're talking, they're like hey, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, you know,he held it sounded like, it
sounded really funny, it looked great. Well, I wish I had saved
it, but that was a reallygood job. I really enjoyed that one.
The sun was blazing, it wasgorgeous. I got sun burnt.
(16:52):
I think it was like eighty fivedegrees. And then I went home.
I went back to Buffalo, andlike two days later we had Snowmageddon.
We had seven feet of snow inone day in twenty four It's crazy.
It was nuts. And I actuallyhad phone calls from from a mail to
(17:15):
photograph a storm, and I said, like, we're snowed in. I
can't go anywhere. But I can't. My car is buried. And then
I said, you know, justgo out and and do what you can.
So I'm trudging through my well.Actually I had to dig myself out
of a house first, So Igot my wife to video me digging my
(17:37):
way out, and the video madeit up on up online. And then
I, you know, I walkedup and down the street as much as
I could in you know, upto my up to my up to my
chest in snowy. So my housemade it online, my car made it
online, and just just the scenemade it online. So it was really
cool just to you know, doday rates on your all step. Yeah,
(18:00):
and not many people have can saythey've done that. And for those
like two days, I was likecars were still trying to get down my
road in like six feet of snow. Yeah, but I'm running out.
I'm looking out the window the wholetime, running out with my snow shovel,
like digging people out non stop.It was so much fun. That's
(18:22):
cool. It's like nothing I'd everI've ever seen. Maybe I'll post a
video on the Instagram of me likejumping over my deck into the snow and
doing snow angels. And it wasfun. I've never seen anything like it.
It was nuts. Yeah, that'scool. I mean I when I
saw those pictures and you were tellingme the story, I thought that,
you know, how many people couldsay that they've they've sold pictures of their
(18:45):
front yard. Yeah, it wasnuts. And like just in like the
two days, the two different jobsI'm doing, I'm on a boat in
the Florida sun, and then twodays later, I'm buried in snow taking
pictures of my house. Yeah, and you know, it was just ridiculous,
so nice just to like I saythe rates on the doorstep. He
couldn't beat it. It was onlyone more that I did last week.
(19:08):
I was it was someone that Ithat i'd already done before. I can't
remember how long ago it was Ispoke about it, but when I did
it last it was the American spy, the CIA woman and skulis that ran
over and killed a brit A guycalled Harry dunn. It happened in England.
(19:33):
I'll give a story. Base.Isn't Harry Dunne from Dumb and Dumber.
I don't know. Is that?Is that the dude's name? I
know it's Harry. Yeah, sheyou know. She was an American CIA
agent. She was based in Britainfor a little bit. She turned out
of the Army barracks she was basedat on the wrong side of the road
and had a head on collision withHarry who was riding a motorcycle and obviously
(19:56):
it was her fault and he passedaway. But her trial, her trial
was last week or about ten daysago, and at first she was supposed
to be appearing in court at theOld Bailey in London, and the US
actually advised her not to attend, and it ended up being another video trial,
(20:21):
and I'd previously photographed her on anothervideo court appearance. It was like
the first picture of her in ayear or so, and I got her
smiling and kind of laughing after thevideo appearance. But this one was the
sentencing and obviously she's not going toserve time because she's not going to be
deported, you know, she's notgoing to be sent to England to serve
time or whatever. So it waslike a suspended sentence. She's not allowed
(20:45):
to drive in England. But endedup getting pictures of her again, which
was really good. There were otherBritish TV crews there, they got bits
and pieces, but underground in thegarage garage after trial, we actually found
her like walking back to her carwith her husband, which was you know,
(21:07):
pictures did really well, ran allran in the paper back home,
and it was just nice, toonice to get her again, like she's
trying to hide, you know, she's dodging what she's done. So it
was just good to good to youknow, get her and you know,
show what a piece of shit sheis. Yeah right, yeah, So
(21:29):
what's going to happen to her now? Nothing? Nothing, I don't think
anyone's going to care about her anymore. Um, you know, it's yesterday's
news now until until I don't know, I don't know. I mean,
like the story's done now, youknow, she's she's you know, she's
got what I'm obviously not what shedeserves. But she's been handed this sentence
(21:53):
and yeah, she's going to goabout her life in the US to killing
a kid, which doesn't seem fair. Now, It's just any one of
us do the same thing, wewould be pretty bummed, Yeah, exactly,
we'd be locked up. Yeah, but yeah, you know, she
she did cry in the courts. She showed some remorse, which is nice.
(22:15):
But yeah, you know, she'sshe's going to be living her life
scott Free where you know, there'sa family back home in England too,
you know, with Christmas approaching, don't have their sun. So yeah,
I'm on a decent job right nowas well, decent job right now,
I can't talk about it. HopefullyI get some pictures in the coming days
and we'll be able to talk aboutit on the next one and hopefully I
(22:37):
can get home for Christmas. Allright, Well, speaking of Christmas,
yes, the two names Jim Careyis Lloyd Christmas and Jeff Daniels is Harry
Nunn. Oh no shit, yep, that's funny. Yeah. I love
that movie, I mean too.So what if you've been up to I've
(22:57):
seen lots of great pictures on thePaparazzi podcast Instagram you've been putting up lately?
Yeah, I mean, I can'tremember where to start from where I
left off on my last one.But I believe we hadn't talked about Jennifer
Aniston and Reese in the Morning Showyet, how do we? I don't
(23:17):
think so now, So yeah,I got okay, I guess what we
could start with that? Then?Yeah, Morning Show? You know that
show usually films in New York, right, So it was weird that they
were coming to LA. But Igot word they were coming to LA.
They were going to do a coupleof weeks. So, um, I
(23:38):
just was checking it every day andfor like two or three weeks, and
they were always interiors. They werealways, you know, just somewhere we
can't get it, and those twogirls they're next to impossible to get anyway.
Yeah, I mean, Anniston hatesit, you know, she doesn't.
She's a She's an absolute nightmare.To work in La if you're working
(24:02):
on her doorstep. So yeah, yeah, yeah. So so the interiors,
they would just pull cars up rightup to the door they needed to
go to. There was no waythey would put the you know, take
them underground door to door. Um, so it was kind of impossible.
So, I don't know. Threeweeks into them filming there, I got
some info of them doing finally anexterior somewhere. It was back in one
(24:26):
of the theaters downtown, and whenI got there, I kind of eliminated
what was going to go on,and it actually turned out to be Billy
Crude Up was doing this exterior andit was basically him just exiting a car
an suv and walking into the backof the theater, right, So I
thought, fuck, I'm just youknow, you know, I can't get
(24:48):
it. And then the scenes thatthey were going to do with Reese and
Jennifer, it was going to beinside again. Yeah, so I figured
they'd be pulling their SUVs up outback, and by the time that they
they were done with the scene, the girls were already inside of the theater.
So I was kind of done andI didn't think anything was going to
happen around at like eleven o'clock andthere was no other competition there that day,
(25:11):
which was kind of crazy because Iknew the competition had been looking at
the set every day that because youknow, getting Anniston and Reese it's always
a good thing. So around eleveno'clock, I hear, Okay, we're
going inside now, but Reese andJenner rapped for the day. So I
waited for a second, and Irealized there wasn't any cars because I could
(25:34):
see down the alley. I couldsee the only thing I could get where
people crossing the alley because I wasdown at the end of one of the
alleys across the street, just lookingdown the alley, and I saw no
SUVs were pulling up there. SoI actually just exited my car. I
got out on foot, and Istarted walking around where where the trucks would
be. There's a fence and thenwhere the trucks would be, and I'm
(25:55):
just kind of looking at the cracksbetween the trucks as I'm walking along,
and as I'm kind of getting towhere the exit is, because there's an
exit to where the trucks would be, and then it's across the street to
the base camp, and there's noway that Jennifer Anderson and Rhees Witherspoon are
gonna walk across the street in downtownLA to go to the base camp.
(26:18):
They're gonna get picked up. Soas I was walking, I kind of
looking through the looking through the cracks, I see Jennifer Aniston and she's walking
towards, you know, walking towardsthe exit to the things. But I
didn't think anything of it. Ijust jumped out in front where the exit
was, and I just blasted threepictures before she saw me, and you
(26:38):
saw those pictures on the Instagram. And then her security guard jumps in front
of me, or jumps in frontof her, and she kind of is
confused for a second, thinking toherself, she's gonna walk. She was
going to walk across the street.Yeah, she's because she kind of like
looked like, oh, that's theway I came, you know, why
aren't we going that way? Theyput her in a V which was right
(27:00):
there, and then they left. But then I didn't see Reese for a
minute, and so I kind ofhung out between those in those cracks again,
so I could see, you know, them coming out, and I
saw and one of the security guardsactually came up to me and started hassling
me. Just a young guy justcame out, what are you doing?
Are you part of the crew? No? Has something? You can't be
(27:21):
here, You can't be here. And I'm focused on looking between these these
trailers and the fence. But thenhe keeps talking to me, and so
I'm telling him just to just tofuck off, you know. I mean
not in those words, but I'mtelling them to fuck off. And as
I'm telling them to fuck off,and I'm looking at him, I see
right behind him, halfway down theblock, Reese walks out from the fence
(27:42):
area and she's about to cross thestreet. So I just bolt straight across
the street from where I am becauseI'm half a block down and she's going
to have to cross the street andthen walk down half that block to go
into the base camp towards you.Yeah, exactly. So I just bowled
across the street and the security guardstarts whistling and stuff like, trying to
(28:03):
get everybody's attention that I'm there. But I'm looking at Reese as i'm doing
this, and she's not budget. She's she's just going for it. So
I'm thinking cool, she's giving itup, you know. So I walked
across the street. I get hercrossing the whole street, get her walking
down the barrel, and then Iwalked back over the guy and he looks
at me, and I look athim, and I'm like, this is
the way it's done, buddy.Sorry, you know. Yeah, and
look see you didn't fucking get anywherenear her. You got your shots and
(28:29):
what you like. He did nodamage to anybody, yeah, exactly.
And if if he hadn't have beenhassling me, I would not have seen
her because I was focused on lookingbetween the trucks and the fence, and
it was, you know, acomplete opposite direction of where she was gonna
she was gonna walk out. SoI probably wouldn't have seen her if I
wasn't looking at him, going whatthe fuck are you doing here? So
(28:49):
he ruined it for everything. MoralThe story is just don't hassle the paps,
you know, seriously, just mindyour own business. Anyway, those
went out, they did pretty well. I mean since then, so a
few days later, so after Barbie, okay, after the Barbie movie,
(29:10):
where I got to know some ofthese pas so well, for good or
bad, I started following a lotof them on Instagram, and when when
I would follow one, they wouldpost something of another, and then they
would tag another, and then theywould tag another. So I just started
following all these pas on Instagram andI'm following probably twenty of them now,
(29:33):
just hoping one of them is goingto pay off. One of them is
gonna, you know, post theirlocation and I'm gonna you know, stumble
upon it whatever. And that happeneda few days later, or I see
one of the pas and they post. So we're down in Venice Beach early
mornings, Venice Beach. Oh coldmorning, Venice Beach, and I'm looking
on my list. I don't haveanything in Venice Beach that day. So
(29:55):
I'm thinking, okay, good,it's a secret. So I head down
there. I don't know where itis, but I just started my south
area and I start going north andI come across a really tiny little base
camp. I mean, looks likea commercial shoot or something like that,
you know, but no idea who'sthere. I investigate a little bit.
I see they're setting up a scenewith lake Bell. Like Bell decent,
(30:15):
right, you know, not notnot the biggest, but not the smallest.
Yeah, not a list, butyeah friends. Yeah, I mean
I would say she's a list,but not a list, like she's a
list friend, a list adjacent, yeah, but definitely not a list paid
a list. She's friends with Annistonand all them, So that's what I
(30:37):
mean, you know. Yeah. So, and she's just in like normal
clothes, she's on the phone, she's like walking with groceries, and she's
got this little girl with her inthe scene and they're just walking along,
no big deal. So I geta few shots of her there and I'm
just kind of hang out listen tothe radio after that for a little while,
just to see who else is goingon. And they keep saying Ewen,
Ewen's Ewins getting his microphone on,Ewan's ready, And I'm looking on
(31:03):
IMDb at the different Ewans that arethere, and I'm like, it's gotta
be Ewan McGregor, because there's noother Ewans that really matter. I can't
even think of any of those. But at the same time, this this
looks like a like an indie film, you know, so it could be
one of those smaller Ewans they bringthem out. It is Ewan McGregor,
and it's just a scene of himpulling up in a car talking with the
(31:26):
wife a little bit and or withLake Bell, which seems to be his
wife or the mother of the childthat's there, and he ends up walking
out onto the beach with the littlegirl. And then later on in the
scenes, I'm out on the pierand they're doing a scene of him running
out onto the beach with the littlegirl fully clothed and he's not in any
(31:47):
like you know, bathing suit oranything. And I get out, which
I've shot before, I shot Pinkin this in this area, before I
shot Nev Campbell. From this angle, before you can go out onto the
Venice Beach pier and there's these littlethese little alcoves, these little spots that
stick out from the side, andI would just shoot between the cracks of
the railing and then the spot rightthere. And on the second take,
(32:09):
Ewan's running out and he spots meup there and he starts waving to me,
and he grabs the little girl andhe's like, oh, look,
there's a photographer up there, andso he's having fun with it, and
you know, I kind of waveto him and you know, give him
that whole I'm looking at you thing. That's good. Yeah, yeah,
And it turned out to be adecent shoot. You know. Um,
it's a it's a movie called Mother'sCouch or mother Couch. Oh at least
(32:36):
that was a work the working titlefor it, I think. And uh,
I don't know what's what it's about. There's no info on it.
And it's an indie film, sowe'll see what happens with that one.
He loses the daughter in the inthe thing and then finds her again.
He looks like kind of like aspaz. He's got like some wrist of
like wrist injury. It looks likemaybe a drunk that's recovering or an attic
(32:57):
that's recovering or something like that. It's kind of vibe I got. Let's
take a little bit of a breakand I'm gonna let let this U zoom
thing run out here because they onlygive me forty minutes, and we'll pick
back up after the break. Allright, and we're back moving on.
R DJ. When's the last timeyou shot r DJ? Fucking you know
(33:22):
what? The last time I shothim was with Stanley Stanley. I shot
him with Stanley. It was rDJ and his wife shopping at fred Seagirls
in Santa Monica. So this timea more time ago, this time year,
probably ten years ago. Wow,I might actually look it up while
(33:45):
we're talking to see how long agobefore Iron Man? Oh? Probably or
maybe right during Iron Man. Yeah, well, while you look that up.
R DJ shaved his head. Oh, because I follow him on Instagram.
He shaved his head about three weeksago, maybe a month ago,
(34:06):
talking about how he did it fora new role, and he gave a
name of the role of the production, which I'm not going to say because
I don't want to give everybody.I don't want to give everybody info.
But it's I mean, it's easyto figure out. But I knew that
they were going to be filming inLa so I've been waiting for this,
this opportunity to get him, youknow, and popped up on my list
(34:28):
the other day and it was onlybase camp information. So I had to
figure out where it was set upand everything, and turned out it was
in ways to La Boil Heights, just one of the most rundown neighborhoods you've
seen, you know, in LaOld school too, because this is maybe
supposed to be like the sixties orseventies. Part of the part of the
(34:50):
show or part of the movie.Yeah, I think it's a show.
Took a while to figure out whatwas going on, but they finally brought
RDJ to set, and he's he'snot bald, he's wearing a hat.
He's got like a red hair.He looks older, like they've aged him
a little bit. Yeah, andI don't care. I mean, I'm
shooting it anyway. Um. Ifound a good spot where I could get
(35:10):
shots and not really be bothered. And I had a backup plan, even
because it was neighbors that were aroundthat looked like they would have been cool
if I just walked up and said, Hey, can I use your front
yard? Yea, So it was. It was good to shoot, and
this early in the morning, it'sone of those where I just wanted to
get shots, get him out topoor A competition showed up because I figured
(35:31):
they might, so I shot it. Rattled off about fifty frames and they
were they were good enough, andI go I go to send him and
realized my computer was dead. No, oh, speaking up, my computer's
about to die. Hold on asecond, Oh shit, Okay, I'll
fill in real first um, soI I shot r DJ seventeen years ago
(35:57):
in Santa Monica's shopping but I actuallyshot him since then, I lost shot
him in two thousand and eight whenhe was filming the Soloist in downtown,
and I had plenty of juice fromthere earlier. Oh, Mark's back.
This plug that I've plugged my computerinto looks like the plug and Christmas vacation.
Oh brilliant. Yeah, So mycomputer, I go to my computer.
(36:22):
My computer's dead, and I don'tand I don't have my charging cord.
No, and I'm a freaking boilHeights rookie, dude, Russell rookie
move. It's a rookie, youknow what. I pop up with these
rookie moves every once in a while. You know what can I say?
And so my whole dilemma is doI go home and send out these images?
(36:42):
Do I stay here and get somemore images and video? Was it
was exclusive? Right? It wasexclusive? Yeah? I look on the
maps, twenty four minutes to gethome. That's not bad. It's not
bad from boil Heights. So Ibooked at home, sent out my images,
and I'm thinking I'm not going back. I'm not going back to Boil
(37:04):
Heights. You know, no,you've smashed it. Yeah, but you
know, I only got pictures.I was thinking video, you know.
So I look on the maps again. Twenty four minutes to get back,
okay. So I'm like, okay, that's doable, right, So I
did it, said fuck it,I'm going. And it was twenty four
minutes. But it was twenty fourminutes because you know, downtown usually would
(37:27):
be one oh five, one tendowntown, maybe the ten around to like
Boil Heights area. This was oneoh five seven ten around the backside right.
So I took the route anyway.I charged it, got there in
about twenty six minutes, showed up, didn't see anybody else there, pulled
right into the same spot, gota few more frames, same scene,
(37:52):
nothing big, They're still doing thesame scene. They're doing the same scene.
And then and so I got somepictures, got some some video.
And then ten minutes after I gotthere, they're like, okay, we're
going to lunch. RDJ is goingto lunch right now. RDJ our lunch.
Everybody else half hour lunch. AndI'm thinking, okay, RDJ is
(38:13):
he's going to be more than anhour because yeah, that's tortually how it
works. And so I'm like, fuck it, I'm not going to stick
around here for an hour and ahalf and not do anything. So I
had an info on Bree Larson's newshow at the same time. I don't
know, ten minutes away. Irushed down there because it's it's right around
lunch time. This is when likeall the productions about you know, they're
(38:34):
about to go to lunch. SoI get there. It's an interior because
I checked it earlier in the morning. It's an interior in a big building.
You want them to break for lunchso you can get some pics of
her leaving, of her leaving exactly. So I pull up there, I
look across the street. I seecompetitions sitting there waiting. Her car is
sitting there out in front as well, right right out in front of the
(38:55):
door. Yeah, I'm listening onthe radio. They're still shooting. But
I you know, downtown LA.You have to pass it. You have
to go down three blocks, youhave to come back around one way,
and then you have to come allthe way back around and all the stop
lights that are involved with that andthe traffic. So as I make my
first left to go back around theblock. I hear, all right,
(39:16):
lunch breeze done for the day.But I knew that they were shooting on
the top floor of the building, right, so I know she has to
get down the elevator and she hasto get out to the front, you
know. So I'm rushing around,I'm sweating, I'm trying to get around.
I'm getting around, you know, every light, I'm like trying to
cut people off. I'm trying toget I get one block away, I
(39:37):
get all the way around, Iget one block away, and I'm got
stuck at this red light. AndI see that her driver get out and
open the door for her, andI'm like, no light turns green.
I pull over. And they've gotthis whole section of where the parking is
because the competitions on one angle, the front angle of the suv. I'm
I would be on the back angleof the suv, and they've got all
(39:59):
these cones blocked off for parking whereI would be pulling up. And I
just crushed the cones. I justrun over all the cones and just pull
up, just pull up, runover all the cones right there, and
I just pull up and I droppedmy window and I'm just sitting there waiting,
and of course when she comes out, all the crews coming out,
they're all standing around smoking cigarettes, talking shit whatever, and she comes out
(40:21):
behind them. I get a coupleof messy, shitty shots of her walking
to the suv in her in heroutfit, you know, it's like sixties
fifty sixties outfit. She's been shotingat plenty of times. And in the
competition, I think got a littlebit better than I did, but she'd
been shot a lot, so itdidn't really matter. But I at least
got shots after all that. Soafter that, I just went driving around
(40:44):
downtown looking for other stuff, andI come across a little teeny shoot in
one of these back alleys down inthe Art District, and it turned out
to be George Lopez doing a littlePSA for like stand Up to Cancer or
something like that. Yeah, andI just got a few shots at him.
So that was like the little thelittle downtown La trifecta for Yeah.
(41:07):
That was a busy day. Yeah. Yeah. Uh. A couple days
later, UH got some Curb YourEnthusiasm season one hundred and fifty eight.
Yes, my favorite show, andyou always got to check that because there's
always a cameo in that thing.Away. We've spoken about the show like
many times before on the part andI remember you saying, like you've checked
(41:30):
it. You never see any ofthese fucking people exactly exactly. And in
that day it was it was LarryDavid, it was JB. Smooth,
it was Richard Lewis, and thenand then Vince Vaughan. Vince Vaughan was
in there for a minute. Yeah, so it was just them quick scene.
There was a competition there as well. And then, um, so
(41:54):
busy, I mean, well,I since we since yeah, that's yeah,
it seems like I've been busy, but this is over the over the
course of a month. So um. But finally I'm driving around El Segundo
the other day and I see Isee movie trucks, you know, park
downtown and they're decorating downtown all Christmaseve. Right They're putting up these Christmas
(42:22):
trees in the middle of the lanes, just right there on Grand and Grand
in Maine where slicing Pine is andall that, you know, right there,
they're wrapping the lights in candy canestuff. They're putting points sets out
everywhere they're they're totally decorating. Theyput up a new welcome to El Segundo
sign that's out front, right thereon the center of ider h and they're
(42:45):
just putting up all these decorations. And it's definitely for a movie. It's
not like they're decorating the town forChristmas. No, Yeah, it's definitely
for a movie. So checking itout and doing a little bit of research,
I find out that it's Eddie Murphyin a movie called Candy Cane Lane.
Shit, are you taking a shit? I'm trying to find my names
(43:07):
will keep decongest no way, Sothat's crazy. I wait until you come
back. Well, I'm here,I see the signs. I kind of
figure out that they're all the streetclosure signs are for that whole week and
this is last week. Okay.Every day I go and I just check,
(43:27):
there's just more decorations, more decorations, every day, more decorations.
So I'm thinking, okay, thisweek is just decorating. And they've they've
decorated over by Richmond Street Grille,They've decorated around the high school area.
So I'd find out later on thatthey're going to be shooting this week.
Right, So Monday, I'm onit. I go around town. I
(43:50):
see them filming driving scenes. Right, Okay, they call for a guy
named Robert. The Robert guy showsup to do the driving in the car
because they're they're they're doing driving scenes, but not filming driving scenes. They're
doing driving scenes, exterior driving scenes, so it's somebody driving the car,
but they're doing they're showing the outsideof the car, you know. And
(44:12):
the Robert guy is the guy.I don't know if you remember when I
was shooting Beverly Hills cop that firstday, and I remember I got I
got that guy who is questionable. That was Eddie Murphy. It looked just
like him, And look exactly,it's the same guy, looks exactly like
Eddie Murphy. So I'm like, great, okay, cool, this is
a stunt double. He's here.Just gotta wait for him, you know.
(44:35):
But I've checked the base camps, and Eddie Murphy has his own base
camp. He's got his own basecamp that's usually separate from the regular base
camp. He's got a big trailer, he's got his own entourage of cars
and SUVs and stuff. Big bigdeal. None of that right, So
they do a bunch of driving scenes. They go over by Richmond Street grill,
they do some driving scenes. Nothing, nothing right. So that's day
(44:58):
one. Day two they start outwith some driving scenes. Still no base
camp for Eddie. They go downto the beach. They film this beach
scene of these kids playing on thebeach, building sand snowmen and these and
these guys on snowboards jumping off. They got this big rig with with with
wires and these guys are jumping offthe sand dunes with snowboards and they're snowboarding
(45:22):
down the sand dunes and they filma whole scene there. No Eddie.
Wow, right, they go backup. They start filming at the high
school. They start filming scenes inthe classrooms. No Eddie, what they
start. So the next day theygo to the high school again. They're
filming basketball scenes, basketball game scenesscenes and with the coach in his office.
(45:46):
This, No, Eddie. Haveyou looked at the castle list for
this movie. There's only Eddie.I just looked at it. Yeah,
there's only Eddie. There's only Eddie. So today is day four, right,
and they're cleaning up today, they'redone, they're gone. This morning
they were filming at the high school. They were filming in the quad in
(46:07):
the high school. No, Eddie, huh, yeah, exactly. So
I've never been on a movie setwhere they've filmed four days, tons of
exteriors, tons of scenes and notthe main star. Ever. Now,
there was this weird vehicle when theywere doing the driving scenes. It was
(46:27):
a three sixty vehicle. Okay, and I could be completely wrong about this,
but I'm just guessing. They woulddrive the vehicle and it had these
they had these cameras on top likea it was like a Google Map like
kind of camera on top of it. You know, it would film three
sixty, right. And I heardthem talking about how they needed to film
the volume scenes. Right. Doyou remember us talking about something called called
(46:52):
the volume A couple of a fewpodcasts ago, well for the Mandalorian and
stuff like that. Oh, yes, they've got that new They've got that
new technology where they record and theyfilm in that fully enclosed screen called the
volume. Right. Yeah, SoI'm thinking that Eddie will be doing these
(47:13):
scenes, especially the driving scenes wherethis double was was the guy in there,
and he'll be in the car,but he'll be in the volume in
the studio. Wow. I mean, I might be totally wrong, but
I think that that's what happened. But still still the exteriors they did the
basketball stuff, the school stuff, all that stuff. I have no idea
(47:35):
why Eddie wasn't there. Well, you're gonna find out next Christmas. What
I'm gonna find out the next Christmas. But we can settle it now because
Eddie, if Eddie's in it,he will confirm that the true candy Cane
Lane is in Elsa Gundo because itis. It's all in Elsa Gundo.
The name Elsa Gundo's there, allthe kids, it's really Elsa Gundo High
(47:55):
School. The basketball scenes there werethe Alsa Gundo Eagles. So it'll be
cool to see you know. That'sawesome. Yeah. So there was never
like any like calling sheets or nothingfor like extras that you could have got
the kids in for or anything. No, no, yeah, that have
been cool. But my daughter wasgoing to school every day. She kept
(48:16):
seeing it every day and walking pastit every day, and I'm like,
yeah, have you see Eddie.Don't don't don't feel don't be shy and
grab a shot. I guess I'mlike, the crew will tell you not
to take a shot, but don'tlisten to him. Yeah, anyway,
that's me up to date, verygood. No, it's been you've been
busy, mate. You deserve adeserve a Christmas break. Well have we
(48:38):
spoke? We must, I meanwe shit. Well in between my podcasts
as well. We turned three. We did yeah, Happy Birthday, Happy
Birthday Podcast, Happy Birthday, Mark, Happy Birthday, Jedi, Happy Birthday
PPC. Yeah, exactly. Ithink it's like, remember twenty eight or
something. In the three years ofus doing the podcast, we must have
(49:01):
talked about favorite Christmas movies. Right, We've probably talked about it every Christmas
like since we've been doing it.Yeah, but no one remembers. No
one remembers. Then we've got newlisteners who might not listen to. What
is your favorite Christmas movie? Easy, Christmas Vacation. Oh it is,
(49:21):
it's the same. That's mine aswell. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The guy I'm working with at themoment, his favorite Christmas movie is Home
Alone, which is a good one. Solid. Yeah. I mean,
if you're going to go family, everybody has to sit around and do it.
But but we decorate our tree everyyear for Christmas vacation. That's what
we do. We turn on Christmavacations when we decorate our tree. Normally
we time it when Santa comes downthe road. Yeah, but this year
(49:44):
we didn't do it. We gotit a little early, so it's it's
the first movie we watch as afamily as well. Every year it's a
Christmas vacation. And like, I'mreally into the Santa clause as well with
Tim Allen, Like that movie hasjust grown on me year after year.
Well, they have a new onetoo on Disney Plus. Right, is
it a new movie or is itlike a series I saw? Oh yeah,
(50:06):
I think it's a series. Maybe. I think it's a series as
well. It's called like the SantaClauses. I think, oh yeah,
that's probably something I will check out. But yeah, and we got to
and the next podcast. We gotto get into some watching watchings because I've
put a few down on my listhere. You know, I've even seen
the New Black Panther, so wegotta get we gotta get the New Black
Panthers. He I've got the ChrisHemsworth Limitless series. I've got the or
(50:32):
Limitless or or Ultimate Limit whatever. We got the New Black Panther. Wednesday,
I don't know if you watch Wednesdayat all. Oh no, I
wanted to watch that. Yeah, yeah, watch any of those things that
I'm talking about and we'll talk aboutthem next time. Plus, I've got
a secret squirrel that's come up inthe last couple of days that I might
(50:52):
be leaving town to go to someone'sChristmas vacation. Whoa, that's exciting,
So you're off, but I willbe going somewhere snowy. Hey, that's
Buffalo. Definitely not Buffalo. Sowe'll see what happens. It's not fast
exciting. That's something for everybody tolook forward to, exactly. So we'll
(51:15):
find out about that on Valentine's Day, everybody, exactly exactly. We'll be
back sooner than that. Yeah.Well, if we've offended anybody on this
podcast, we do apologize. Christmastimes coming up. Everybody, have a
good Christmas and a happy New Year, and Merry Christmas and happy New Year
(51:36):
from a PPC and you know, yeah, and be safe with vacations and
stuff. Be safe watch the drinking. Yeah all right, Well for myself
and for Jedi, take care.Well, oh yeah, I've forgotten how
(52:01):
to do it. It's been solong mate. You boy, no,
Eddie, I was wondering if youwere going to talk about Heidi Klum or
not. Oh yeah, I forgotabout Hidi Clum.
