Speaker 1 (00:05):
Tonight's episode is brought to you by my newest supporter, Jane.
Thank you so much for making the show possible. Welcome
(00:28):
back to Paranormal Mysteries, and thank you for joining me
as we explore the unknown. I'm your host, Nick Ryan. Tonight,
several of the experiences that I'll be featuring are a
bit shorter than others. As many of you know, I
do my best to read every experience that I receive,
and a fair majority of the reports that come across
my desk tend to be pretty brief. However, I believe
(00:51):
everyone's experience deserves to be heard, so tonight that's primarily
what I'll be focusing on. With that said, though, if
you've submitted an experience that I haven't read yet, please
feel free to resubmit it or even send me a
quick email to verify that I've received it. Sometimes emails
can get lost in the shuffle, but it's more than
likely that your story is just waiting to be scheduled.
(01:13):
Either way, though, don't hesitate to reach out to me,
and I'll see what I can do. I also appreciate
you bearing with me as my voice isn't cooperating with
me today. But I'll do the best I can. Now,
let's begin tonight's journey with Jamie, who calls their experience
Grandma's Ghost. Jimmy says, Dear Nick, I live in Cleveland, Ohio.
(01:37):
Thank you so very much for creating a safe, judgment
free space to share our experiences. My grandma will be
gone ten years ago. The day after Mother's Day coming
up this year, two days after she passed, we were
waiting for our family to arrive earlier that day. I
went to go and get the mail for something to do.
Mind you, my grandma was the type to close the
(01:59):
door behind her. Well, we have two doors to open
before we open to get the mail. It was a
windy day. No one but me was on the main
floor of the house, but the door behind me slammed shot,
I jumped, and my hair stood up. I wasn't sure
if it was just the wind or possibly her spirit.
The night after her funeral, I was getting ready to
(02:20):
go to bed. I started to lay down on the
left side, and when I had almost closed my eyes,
I saw a shadowy figure that was paper white. It
started to move over to me with an arm reaching
out my way. I got super freaked out. And I
turned over to my right hand side. A few moments later,
I turned back over and the figure had completely disappeared.
(02:42):
To this day, I wonder if it was my grandma
letting me know that she was okay. I hope to
hear my story on your podcast. Our next experience comes
to us from Brittany, and Britney's exp aperience is called
Ghost in the Window, py Nick. I absolutely love your podcast.
(03:07):
My son and I listened to you often and we
always bond and discuss your shows after we hear them.
Thank you for always keeping us locked in. My story
starts in the summer of twenty twenty. My niece and
I decided to take a trip to the trans Alleghany
Lunatic Asylum in West and West Virginia. The tour did
have a guide and was very informative. It was so
(03:29):
awesome to learn the history of this place. During the tour,
the guide often told us to just take photos of
the windows and doors and to go back later and
go through them. Often people wouldn't see anything initially, but
when they got home and went through the photos, they'd
see something. Well, he was right. I had been in
one of the big rooms where the residents of the
(03:49):
asylum would gather, such as a craft room or the cafeteria.
I'm not sure which one. However, I was just taking
photos of windows and doors throughout, and once I got home,
I was looking through the photos and I stopped when
I saw a face in the window. I could make
out all of this man's features, and still to this
day I can see his face, but unfortunately I no
(04:12):
longer have the photo. It was the craziest photo, as
I had just been in the spot that I had
taken the photo, and no one in our group looked
anything like this man. I didn't feel scared or unsafe
at any point during the tour. However, on one of
the floors, I did get a huge scratch down my
back that burned for a while. But even with the scratch,
(04:33):
it was the best experience and the most informative tour
of any asylum that I've ever been to. Thank you
for reading my submission. Our next experience comes to us
from Zayin and Zane's story is called Touched by a
Sailor's Soul. Hi, Nick, I've been listening to your podcast
(04:57):
since the twenty fourth episode, and I finally have the
courage to sh my experience. The experience that I'm sharing
with you and everyone else is when I was on
vacation going from Erie, Pennsylvania to Savannah, Georgia. I am
currently in Savannah about to go on an investigation with
my paranormal junkie friends. This took place on the haunted
(05:17):
USS Yorktown, which is located in Charleston Bay. The USS
Yorktown is a CV ten class aircraft carrier that was
going to be launched in April. As well as the
ceremony to give the ship good luck, which is to
have the first lady smash a bottle of champagne against
the hull. The first Lady was Eleanor Roosevelt, but while
(05:37):
the ceremony to bless the ship was going on, the
USS Yorktown launched by itself, so to make sure the
ship wasn't cursed, she threw it at the ship with
a few seconds to spare. The Yorktown was in a
lot of minor battles in the Pacific and was only
damaged once, but pretty severely. It was hit by a
high altitude timed bomb and it went right through one
(05:58):
of its turrets and the legs of a marine then
it changed course and exploded in the marine barracks, instantly
killing two men and injuring one other. The man with
the severed legs acted fast and applied tourniquets to both
of his legs to stop the bleeding, but he later
died from the shrapnel. That was just some of the
history of its action, but now for my experience. We
(06:23):
entered the yorktown and went to the lower decks and
made our way up. We all had walkie talkies in
case we got lost, which could be easy because of
how big aircraft carriers are. And we moved up and
got to a room where the burn injuries were dealt with.
So I shut out the lights and I sat in
the middle of the room and I started asking EVP
questions like are there any spirits that would like to
(06:44):
talk to me? Or what is your name? Et cetera.
I got a bone chilling response on the question are
there any spirits here that would like to talk to me?
And it said help me. The room then got really cold,
and I felt something brush up against the legs side
of me from head to toe. Then I heard a
lot of running down the hall coming towards me, but
(07:06):
there was nothing there, So then I left the motion
detector doorbell, which works just as well as the fancy ones,
but for really cheap. As the investigation came to an end,
nothing else happened other than some creaking, but that was
probably just the ship swaying on the waves. That is
the end of this experience, but I hope that I
(07:26):
will have many more to share soon enough. Thanks Zaye.
Our next experience comes to us from Martin, and Martin
says this, Hello, I have a story that I'd like
to share for your podcast, and it's my most memorable one.
(07:48):
I was living in Vancouver and the house I resided
in was being taken back over by the owners. I
was the last one to move out as my move
out day was getting closer. The apartment upstairs was already vacant.
This happened a few times, and my roommate was home
once without me. When this occurred, I was home watching
TV when I could hear voices upstairs and people walking around.
(08:11):
I didn't think anything of it and that maybe the
property manager was up there inspecting a few days after this,
it happened again and again, in which the commotion was
getting louder and louder. Then one day I decided to
go and take a look at what was going on,
as I found the noises to be worrisome. I even
brought a baseball bat just in case. As I opened
(08:32):
the door, I shouted out, who's up there? What are
you doing here? But there was no answer. I then
walked up the steps to the living area. Everything was empty,
no leftover furniture, nothing in the cupboards or the closets.
It was eerily quiet and cold. As I looked around,
my heart was racing since I had first declared my
intention of finding out who was up there, but there
(08:54):
was nothing. It was just me and my whole body
was covered in goose bumps. So I freaked out and
I ran back to the safety of my apartment. I
decided to ignore this phenomenon, although I did warn a
temporary room mate that this was going on, He laughed
it off and said that he didn't believe in such things. Then, though,
one night I came home and he was pale as
(09:16):
a ghost and frightened. I asked him what was going on,
and he told me that he had heard people and
noises upstairs, and he went up to investigate. However, he
came to the same conclusion that I did, but he
couldn't believe that. When he came back down to our apartment,
these sounds started all over again. It really disturbed him
since he knew that it was empty upstairs. All I
(09:37):
could say to help was that there were harmless and
that everything was going to be okay. It was only
when I lived there on my own that these strange
things happened, and hearing floorboards creek with footsteps took it
to a whole new level. Thank you Martin. Our next
(09:59):
Experience Homes was from Kinga, and Kinga had this to say, Hello, Nick,
I've wanted to write to you for a couple of months.
I'm a huge fan of your podcast. I listened to
many episodes a day because of my commuting to school.
I prefer listeners stories because of the variety, but I
know that you do and have done many themed episodes.
(10:20):
I thought that maybe a good idea for an episode
like that would be something about safely communicating with dead people.
There are many stories of being possessed or other nasty
things that happen to those who tried. In twenty nineteen,
my beloved grandfather passed away from cancer. He was one
of the best people I've ever met or heard of.
You know that one person in a family that is
(10:42):
literally iconic, Well, that's the kind of person he was.
I really miss him, and since I started listening to
your podcast, I was thinking of a safe way to
contact him. As far as I'm concerned, I don't have
many significant paranormal activity stories, only that I keep seeing
a person in church who looks almost identical to my
dead grandfather. I don't go there regularly because I usually
(11:04):
visit the church in a different town, and I don't
go on regular hours. Despite that, I can't remember a
time when I didn't see him there. Anytime I see him,
I feel like he's looking directly at me, and he's
always standing in the same place. There's one more thing, though.
The way that I acknowledged my grandfather's death was weird.
(11:25):
I was at my friend's house and my mom came
to pick me up. We said our goodbyes with the
friend and her mom. After usual goodbye ish small talk,
we then go out to the door and the first
thing that I said to my mom wasn't even high
or anything else. I literally said, is Grandpa alive? The
question weird did my mom out because you would expect
(11:45):
someone to say, is Grandpa okay? Or even how is
Grandpa doing? That was when my mom told me that
he was already gone. I remember not feeling much. His
death wasn't easy for me, but even on the day
of his feet funeral, I wasn't feeling sad or melancholy.
I actually felt positive, and for a long time after
(12:06):
it made me believe that something was wrong with me.
Now I believe that I didn't really believe his passing,
as it was a huge trigger for me. Now that
it's been a couple of years, I feel all the
bad feelings that people who have lost someone usually feel. Anyway,
I really appreciate your work and I'd love to hear
what you have to say on the mentioned topic, and
(12:27):
I wish you all the best. Kinga Kinga. I think
that's an excellent idea and I'll be sure to put
it into an upcoming episode, and I appreciate your input
before I continue. Please consider showing your support by subscribing, sharing,

(13:07):
grateful to have you here. Now, please stay tuned and
I'll be right back. After these brief messages, our next
experience comes to us from Peter, and Peter's experience is
called Haunted Home. Hello, Nick, I just want to say
(13:28):
that I love your podcast and it makes my commute
to work so much better. The experiences I'm going to
tell you about aren't my own, but come to me
from my mom. For some background, my family is from Laos,
which is a very devout Buddhist country. For the first
few years of my life, my parents and I shared
a bedroom as our house was fairly small. One day,
(13:50):
my mom was sleeping and suddenly felt like someone or
something was on top of her and choking her. Needless
to say, she was terrified and she struggled against whatever
was doing until the necklace that she was wearing fell
out of her shirt and the choking suddenly stopped. On
her necklace. She wears a pendant of the Buddha, and
she firmly believes that this protected her from harm. Another
(14:13):
experience that she had was when she was taking a
nap on the couch that faces the stairs to the
second floor. She woke up and saw a woman completely
in white with long white hair slowly walk or drift
from one end of the upstairs landing to the other.
She said a few other experiences, but these two are
the ones that stick out the most in my mind. Again,
(14:36):
thank you for your podcast. Our next experience comes to
us from kJ, and kj's experience is called town Hall Ghost.
kJ says we live near a small historic town in Canada,
and this town is particularly known for its ghosts. My
(14:59):
husband Jay was working in the town hall with two
co workers when he heard someone singing in the basement.
He thought that it was one of his co workers
playing a joke, so he thought that it would be
funny to prank them back. So Jay snuck down the
backstairs to scare his coworker, but he found no one
there and the singing suddenly stopped. So he went back
upstairs and looked outside, and both coworkers were outside smoking
(15:23):
a cigarette. When he asked them about the singing. They
said that they had both been outside the entire time
and they had no idea. Fast forward a few weeks later,
and my husband and I were back at the same
town hall, finishing the job because Jay didn't want to
go alone. We were standing behind the stage and we
started hearing what sounded like the large set of canvases
(15:44):
smacked together as if they were tipping. Then we heard
footsteps coming up behind us, so we turned around, but
there was no one there, but the footsteps continued right
past us. Then they sped up to a run as
they ran up the wall and all the way down
the ceiling to the front of the town hall. We
had time to look at each other and stand and
listen for about forty five seconds. There were at least
(16:07):
a few hundred steps. It was not an animal's run,
and it sounded like a person with shoes on. We
were the only two people there that evening. Our next
experience comes to us from anonymous and their experience is
called Ghosts of Dakusville Elementary School. Hello Nick, I'm a
(16:31):
huge fan of the show and I wanted to share
with you one of the few paranormal experiences that I've
had While attending college. In this story, I'm really more
of a person retelling others' experiences, but I did fully
believe them to be true because of the energy that
I felt there, as well as seeing telltale signs of
a haunting. The year was twenty nineteen and I was
(16:52):
in my senior year of college as an elementary education major.
In your final semester, you are with a student teacher
and are a science to a school. I was assigned
to Dacasville Elementary in Pickens County, South Carolina. I am
about to share with you what I witnessed and heard
in this quiet and dark corner of South Carolina. Upon
(17:13):
learning of my assignment, I got to researching this school,
as we are so encouraged to do because you want
to be mentally prepared and you want to structure your
classroom to your student's needs. In that research, I learned
that Dacasville has a very dark, unsettling history, including its
elementary school. As I discovered several years back that the
school experienced the tragedy in which two students that were
(17:36):
siblings were taken home by their mother after school dismissed.
They never returned because their mother tragically murdered them. Regardless
of learning of this tragic and disturbing news, though, I
went into that school with a heart to teach and
the hope to make a positive impact on the students.
Every day I would arrive early with the other's staff,
(17:56):
and I noticed that it was always extremely cold in
the building, even when the air was not flowing, and honestly,
it was just super cold in certain parts of the
classroom I was teaching in. It was normal for students
and teachers alike to need a sweater or jacket when
in the building. Additionally, I always noticed lights, in particular
hanging polka dots they had in the entrance way swinging
(18:17):
back and forth. But I never thought anything of it
because I was not as aware of the supernatural at
that point, and I just thought that it was the
air conditioning. One afternoon, myself and the teacher that I
was working with and her assistant were sitting and just
chatting after school when we randomly got into supernatural topics.
I shared my first paranormal experience at what we call
(18:39):
Crybebee Bridge in upstate, referring to a haunted bridge in Anderson,
South Carolina. It's another story that I'll share another day.
After telling my terrifying tale, they both kind of laughed
and then told me, you know this school is haunted,
right And I laughed and said, no, it's not. I
then saw them both look at each other, and they
(19:00):
then assured me that it indeed was. Why do you
think it's always cold in the building and random lights
are flickering and swinging, they said. They also told me
that even the middle school next door has a ghost
of a little girl that they've named Natalie. I was
hesitant to believe, but after my first paranormal experience, I
knew that these things were very real. Needless to say,
(19:24):
these coworkers had my attention. In fact, these ladies were
so excited to talk about the subject of the paranormal
occurrences at the school they took me to other staff
to hear their stories, probably to show me that they
weren't making this up. The school janitors both shared their experiences,
with one mentioning staying later in the evening and seeing
a tall man in a Civil War uniform going in
(19:46):
and out of the classrooms. The other one stayed behind
during a fire drill to clean the bathroom and heard
a little scream saying make it stop, and it sounded
exactly like a student that we were teaching. But the
janitor knew for sure there were news students in the
building or in the bathroom due to them all being
outside during the fire drill. In fact, he was even
(20:06):
able to video record the voice and he showed it
to me, and I remember the shivers it gave me
down my spine. The last story that I heard about
that day was a teacher that stayed behind with her daughter,
planning and preparing for a fun lesson the next day.
Everyone had gone home for the day. This they knew
for sure because the building was locked, no one was
(20:27):
in the parking lot, and also the staff had made
sure when she would leave the building that she would
lock the door and engage the security system. While they
were wrapping up their preparations, they heard a man whistling
a tune and footsteps in the distance of the hallway.
The daughter slowly turned to her mother and asked, Mommy,
did you hear that. This staff member said that it
(20:49):
wasn't but two seconds later that they dropped what they
were doing, grabbed their things, and they went home. While
she was telling me this story, an administration staff overheard
and came up and asked, are y'all telling the student
teacher about Aredith. It's kind of like Meredith, but put
an air instead of Mayre at the beginning. All the
(21:09):
staff enthusiastically told her yes, and she proceeded to tell me, yep,
you're gonna see a lot of swinging banners, lights and
polka dots. Swinging Aradath is what we call the ghost
that hangs onto all the lights. We've even had professionals
come out here and they've all reported no airflow. I
was honestly too stunned to speak after hearing these stories.
(21:31):
But my whole time there, the lights definitely flickered and
swung aggressively, and I definitely didn't stay long enough in
the evenings to find out if there were any ghost
sightings or hear their sounds of eerie whistling tunes. There
were more occurrences there, for sure, with whatever was dwelling
in that school, and there was an undeniable heavy feeling
upon the building. As amazingly beautiful of a place as
(21:54):
the Greenville, Spartanburg, and Pickens County areas in South Carolina are,
they do have an undeniable haunting history and terrifying tales,
and this is simply the tip of the iceberg of
its haunting past. Our next experience of the night comes
to us from Kate, and Kate's experience is called a
(22:19):
Grateful Ghost. Hi. Nick, I've been listening to your podcast
for a few months now and I've binge listened to
all of it. I really enjoy people's stories and learning
about paranormal phenomena such as the Mothman. I am a
true believer of the paranormal and I have a few
stories to share today, though, I thought i'd share a
story that came to mind when listening to podcasts number
(22:41):
three forty one, as the themes were somewhat similar. All
the names in my experience have been changed. Some years ago,
I used to work in a child protection unit in
the UK. I often worked with a friendly police officer
named Jane, and we would often chat about our past
experiences within our respective career and home life. One day,
(23:02):
she told me of a very sad case of a
child's death. The little girl was six years old and
had been killed by her mother and stepfather. The death
was a shock to everyone, but also the neighbors of
the family. The family were considered well to do and
they lived in a very prestigious area of the town.
The day after the child's death, Jane was sent to
(23:23):
the family home by her sergeant to collect something. When
she arrived, the child's clothes, toys, and life possessions were
strewn in the gutter outside the home. This shocked Jane
beyond belief, and it showed what total disregard the child's
mother and stepfather had for her poor life. Jane had
also just had a baby girl herself, so this really
(23:45):
hit home and it upset her. Jane decided to pick
up a toy Teddy Bear, unbeknownst to anyone else, and
she took it to the local mortuary to be placed
with a little girl. Jane didn't want her feeling lonely,
and she never told her work colleagues about this as
she didn't want to get into trouble. Some months later,
Jane attended a Spiritualist church with her friend. Jane didn't
(24:07):
really believe in all that, but she'd been persuaded to
go anyway. When she was in a circle at the church,
one woman kept staring at her and it was making
her uncomfortable. When the session was over. Jane went to
leave hastily, but the woman caught up with her at
the exit. The woman said to Jane, I know you
don't believe in all this, but I have someone here
who is desperate to give you a message. It's a
(24:30):
little girl, and she is thanking you for the Teddy Bear.
She is forever grateful. Jane was dumbfounded and left very quickly.
Needless to say, Jane was then a believer. When she
told me this story. We both sat there and sobbed,
firstly at the cruelty of the incident, but then at
(24:51):
how grateful this little girl was. It just goes to
show that it's the little things that matter the most,
even to those who do not walk the this earth anymore.
I have other stories here and there that I'll be
happy to share at some point, but I hope this
story provides some proof that life does go on and
that our loved ones and those around us never truly
(25:14):
leave us. Before I bring tonight's episode to an end,
I'd like to thank all of our experiencers for coming
forward with their stories, and as always, I truly appreciate
each and every one of you for listening and showing
your support. With that said, I hope you have a
wonderful rest of your evening and I'll be back in
(25:35):
a few short days with more tales of the unexplained.
Until then, stay open minded and stay safe, because, after all,
the next person that comes face to face with a
paranormal mystery might be you. S S S S S
