Speaker 1 (00:01):
This episode is brought to you by my newest supporters, Martin,
Gwen and Dave. Thanks for making the show possible. Tonight,
I'll be exploring more mysterious goings on in the forest
(00:21):
as I discuss odd creatures, encounters with fayfolk, bizarre lights
in the night sky, and even possible portals in the wilderness.
So please sit back and join me as we enter
the strange and fascinating world of the unexplained. I'm your host,
Nick Ryan, and this is paranormal Mysterys. The first time
(00:45):
it happened, I was sleeping and woke up because.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
I felt a hand on my leg and I realized
that I couldn't move.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
And he come across this object on the ground, which
was the shape of a flying saucer. So he jumped
out of is pick up and went down there, and
there was four beings laying on the ground.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
When I raised my head back up, I was turning
my head and out of my peripheral vision I seen
something hot to a tree and it was tall, about
seven eight foot tall. It was black, real hairy, like
a gorilla.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Tonight's experiences come to us from a variety of sources,
and these first few stories were featured on a top
ten website due to their bizarre nature. Now, this particular
site didn't provide sources for all of the experiences it listed,
which makes verifying the reports difficult. But because the details
are so similar to other reports that I have been
able to verify, I decided to include them, and as
(01:57):
always I've added links to all of my sources in
the show notes below. Let's begin. This first experience is
entitled the Cackling of Witches. The eyewitness says I went
camping in Big Sur, California with one of my best friends.
It was off season and a Sunday night, so the
(02:18):
place was practically empty. We picked a campsite about a
half mile walk from the ocean. It was in a
huge open field surrounded by a lush forest. In the
background were limestone mountains, and you could hear the crashing
of the ocean's waves. It was very epic. We spend
the night around a campfire, telling stories and eating. We're
(02:39):
also both pretty experienced backpackers. We are very diligent in
ensuring that we do not leave any trace of food
by our site, and almost everything other than our essentials
goes in the bear bag or box. I have a
dog with me too. She's eighty a so she's allowed
on the site. She's leashed around one of the few
trees in the field on a long metal leash and
(03:00):
full harness. It's a full moon out and it was
pouring beautiful blue light across the field. It was absolutely
pristine and breath taking. At around one a m. Something
spooks my dog. Now she's used to the woods, and
she has an incredibly calm demeanor, but I mean she's
flipping out and tugging hard on the leash like she
(03:20):
is desperate to escape, and she actually does. She pulls
so hard that her harness snaps and she goes bolting
across the field and into the wilderness. At this point,
I lose my cool. I drop everything and bolt after her.
I'm not thinking straight running into the woods at night,
but my only concern was getting to her, even if
it meant risking my own safety. Eventually, I rescue her,
(03:43):
and I find her curled up in a random clearing
in the woods, looking ashamed and terrified. Thank god she
ran in a straight line, otherwise I would have been
totally lost. I walk back carrying her, and my heart
is pounding furiously at the horror of the idea of
her being lost in the wilderness forever. The thought, even
now is still unbearable. I can feel her heart pounding
(04:06):
in my arms as well. She's still terrified. At this point,
I'm no longer in a great mood. We all had
to bed in my tent, but my dog won't lay down.
She refuses. Her ears are up, and she's staring intensely
at the tent wall as if she could see through it,
and she seems to be tracking something. It takes a
(04:27):
while for my nerves to calm down from my chase earlier.
I'm working hard at taking deep breaths and reminding myself
that I'm prepared for anything that I could encounter. That
my dog is simply spooked from, maybe a raccoon, maybe
she's just exhausted and acting up. But then I hear
it cackling, like a high pitched laughter that is full
(04:49):
of a disgusting type of joy, and it's coming from
outside my tent. Forget deep breathing. My senses go on
high alert. My body tenses up so tightly that it's
like I'm about to break in half. I can't even breathe,
and then I hear even more cackling, like a group
of witches. We're doing something evil just yards away. It
(05:11):
fills my hearing laughing and laughing and more laughing. It's loud,
and it just sounds so wrong. I can't even bring
myself to move to look at my friend. It's like
my entire body has given up. The laughs are then
followed up by blood curdling screams. It honestly sounded like
someone was being murdered. It was full of panic, horror,
(05:34):
and sadness. Now it could have been wolves or coyotes
killing their prey, but it sounded too distinctly human. The laughter,
the sobbing, and the screams. Finally, my friend says something, what,
what the hell? I even begin to laugh a little
because the situation is so intense and wild, I had
(05:55):
no idea how else to react. I can't handle this,
I say, and I suggest we bolt for the car. However,
it's a mile away, so we decide to just stay.
We just listen to the laughter and screaming until it
eventually fades away. However, even when it's over, I didn't
bother going back to bed. After reading this report, I
(06:18):
did some research on Big Sur in the surrounding area,
and as of early twenty twenty five, it's believed that
there are only fifty wolves in the entire state of California. Yeah,
that's five zero, and in Big Sur specifically, there are
no known wolf packs. That being said, though, there is
a healthy coyote population in the area, which could account
(06:38):
for these hair raising screams or crying sounds that the
witness described, which, to their credit, they offered as a
possible explanation. After all, many times coyotes are misinterpreted as
something more sinister by folks that aren't familiar with the
local fauna. But does this explanation still carry the same
weight when we're talking about an experiencer that is more
(06:59):
than five familiar with the outdoors and the wildlife. Perhaps,
but unless you're out there experiencing it for yourself, it's
impossible to truly know what's actually out there. Our next
experience is called a perfect circle. The witness says, I
(07:21):
was backpacking in the Bare Tooth Wilderness in the early
two thousands with a good friend of mine. Three days
into the hike, we had only seen one other couple.
On the third night, at about four a m. We
were awoken in our tent to what sounded like screams
in the forest, big guttural screams. Obviously, we were freaked
out sitting in the tent and not knowing what was
(07:42):
out there. Then we started hearing what sounded like hail
for about fifteen minutes, followed by heavy footsteps near our camp.
My friend and I started yelling and making tons of noise,
and the commotion outside the tent slowly came to a halt.
In the morning, after not sleeping at all, we unzipped
the tent to find the creepiest scene. All around the
(08:04):
tent were literally thousands of little pebbles that were not
there the evening before, also surrounding the tent in a
near perfect circle, where twenty or so one hundred and
fifty to three hundred pound boulders. Well. My friend and
I hopped out of there, making a three day hike
into one and practically running the entire way back to
(08:26):
the car. This next experience is called lights in the Sky.
My family and I were camping on a lake in
central Texas on a week with very few people around.
Our spot was on the edge of the camp next
to the woods, and it was very close to the
(08:46):
edge of the lake. We were playing pictionary by the
campfire the first night that we were there when I
saw a light go by over the lake. I didn't
think much of it, and I was still focusing on
the game when another one went by at the same speed,
following the same line. At that point, I felt a
little bit strange, but still wasn't too worried about it.
After that, though, another one went by and I pointed
(09:09):
it out, and my dad said that he noticed it
as well. So we walked out past the campfire and
the campground lights to get a better view of what
these things were. They continued to fly by over the lake,
going the same speed and staying the exact same distance
from each other. They were reddish yellow orbs, and there
was no sound coming from them. At this point, my
(09:30):
whole family was watching in awe and disbelief. After about
fifteen of these things go by, the last one was
chased by a white ball of light that was much
closer than the rest. We didn't talk about it much
after we discussed what it might be, but when we
got back home from our trip, my mom looked it
up and saw that people in a town a few
miles from our camp site reported seeing the same exact thing,
(09:54):
and it was exactly the way that we saw it.
I found this next report on the website Mysteries of
Canada by author Hammerson Peters. Peters says that this experience
was shared with him by one of his subscribers named
Joe Matheson. Matheson emailed this story to Peters in twenty
(10:16):
twenty three, and he told him that it was one
of the most memorable and terrifying experiences of his entire life.
This story involves the death of an animal and it
may be inappropriate for some listeners, and discretion is advised.
This experience is entitled the Leprechauns of Vancouver Island. Let
(10:45):
me start at the beginning and give you a general
layout of what I went through. This happened in the
middle of a stormy, rainy night in the mid eighties
on the acreage I lived at on East Sook Road
on Vancouver Island. I was an electrical apprentice at that time,
putting myself through trade school, and I was living with
a beautiful Native girl named Melody and her two children.
(11:06):
We were both only twenty At the time, it was
the middle of the night. It was dark, and it
was storming, raining with thunder and lightning all night long.
I don't know what initially woke me up, but I
do remember sitting up in the bed in the living
room looking out the window in the garden, and the
yard was lit up with a motion light in the rain,
(11:26):
and holy smokes, if you've ever had a sight that
would turn your hair white, this would have been at
around ten feet from the windows. Moving from right to
left was a group of between four and five goblin
type beardless men around three and a half feet tall,
very skinny, slightly exaggerated, oversized, narrow faces with large ears,
(11:50):
large noses, and strange eyes. They were wearing these really plain,
simple clothes like I remember Robin Hood and his merry
Men would have been wearing in those nineteen fifties movies.
They almost looked like they were made of felt, and
they were only shades of green and brown. All of
them were wearing these silly triangular hats that were shaped
(12:11):
like a newspaper boat that you would fold for children.
There were no weapons or tools or anything, just the
snug fitting clothes and what was silly, but I'm positive
about it was that they were wearing these silly sock
like booties with pointed toes that curled up. I'm embarrassed
to even describe that part, but that's what they were wearing.
(12:32):
One detail that I strongly remember was that they were
not obeying the laws of physics. They were walking a
little too slowly, and they were leaning a little too
far forward to look natural. But here's the part to
turn your hair white. There was kind of a dominant
alpha character slightly in the lead, even though they were
in a tight group walking toward the creek. The alpha
(12:53):
one turned and I swear he made eye contact with me,
and he smiled, and he gave me the most untrustworthy,
I know a secret that you don't know type of
look that made me actually jump. Author Hammerson Peters then
says that Joe described how he proceeded to shake his
girlfriend awake, telling her that there were leprechauns outside. However,
(13:16):
by the time a discombobulated Melody got around to looking
up the window, the little people had melted into the darkness.
On her advice, Joe tried to go back to sleep,
attempting to chalk his experience up to a strange dream.
Try as he might, However, he could not shake the
feeling that his experience was legitimate anyway. Joe continued, after
(13:38):
a couple of minutes, when maybe a tiny se liver
of my mind was beginning to accept that it could
have been maybe some type of imaginary hallucination, I hear
the most blood curdling scream I've ever heard in my
entire life, coming from the horse corral, which was in
the direction that those things had been walking. Joe would
go on to explain that there were two horses in
(13:59):
the barn at that time. One of them was a
quarter Arab horse named Rosebud that belonged to Melody. The
other one was a pregnant Clydesdale cross and its name
was Misty or Smokey, who belonged to Sherry and Joe,
a young couple that lived in a suite at the
back of the house. At this point, Joe frantically puts
on his gum boots, grabbed a flashlight, and headed outside
(14:22):
into the downpour. He was then joined by Sherry, similarly
bedecked in rein gear, who had also decided to investigate
the commotion. The agitated horse proved to be Sherry's pregnant Misty,
whom they found kicking and snorting in the barn, illuminated
by the amber glow of a sodium vapor lamp. As
Joe and Sherry tried to determine the cause of Misty's irritation,
(14:45):
the corral door burst open and instrode their assertive neighbor,
mister Bell I rate rainwater dripping from his cowboy hat
and denim jacket, and demanding to know what the commotion
was all about. When Sherry explained that her horse was
pregnant and suspected that she might be giving birth, mister
Bell inspected her and eventually determined that she was far
(15:07):
from being due. Joe then goes on to say, so
we stood around and chatted in the dark, with the
wind and rain blowing around us outside, until mister Bell
left and Misty had calmed down. However, as Sherry and
I left the barn, we spotted something lit up by
the sodium lamp. It was this tiny, pure white newborn male,
(15:28):
lying dead and drowned in the only puddle in the corral.
Sherry screamed and cried. It was a horrible moment. We
were so confused because there was absolutely no way that
that foal could have gotten out of the barn, no
way other than being lifted and carried. Determined to make
sense of his strange experience, Joe began to research the
(15:50):
legend of the Leprechaun and discovered that, according to the
Druidic traditions of the ancient Celts, pure white male newborn
livestock were regarded as perfect sacrificial material. He also unearthed
an old tradition which holds that sightings of little folk
are omens portending the death of livestock and the failure
(16:10):
of crops. Further research, Joe concluded, shows that they love
running water, they love the dark, and they love horses.
Now this account fascinates and confuses me. After all, I
love hearing experiences that involve faifolk. But I'm a bit
bewildered as to how all three individuals, Sherry, Joe, and
(16:33):
this mister Bell person all overlook the fact that the
horse had apparently given birth only moments earlier. In my experience,
there would be no shortage of evidence that a birth
had taken place, And Joe says that mister Bell even
inspected the horse and claimed that she wasn't due yet. Perhaps,
though I'm trying to add logic to a situation that
doesn't conform to the normal laws of physics or biology,
(16:57):
is it conceivable that these goblins or whatever they were,
used some sort of magic for lack of a better term,
to remove the full from its mother, thus bypassing the
usual side effects of birth. To be honest, I have
no idea and I can't even begin to explain it.
But if anyone listening has knowledge on the subject, I
would love to hear your opinions. I found these next
(17:23):
experiences being discussed in an article on Mysterious Universe called
Strange Portals and Reality Shifts in the Wilderness, and the
first experiencer had this to say. So, I have never
posted here. I consider myself a pretty rational person. Personally,
I'm an atheist and I don't really do spirituality. But
(17:44):
in my mid teens I had an experience that still
makes me scratch my head. My family and I grew
up in southwest Montana, near a major river. There, our
valley was known as a place the local indigenous tribes
had a lot of reverence for. The rumor was that
the area we lived near the river was a place
regularly used for vision quests, et cetera. I don't know
(18:07):
if this is actually true. I just think that perhaps
there's a connection. This is the actual event. My older
sister and I were walking through the woods on an
island formed where the river forked and then joined back together.
The island is roughly half a mile long, so quite large,
with overgrown cottonwood forest on it. It's very peaceful and meditative.
(18:30):
I spent much of my childhood scampering all over it.
I never had any strange experiences. It's just a very
soothing and wonderful place. This particular day, however, was somewhat different.
The weather was perfectly beautiful, golden sunshine filtering through the trees.
We were calmly looking through the woods when I felt
(18:50):
what I can only describe as a figurative tug in
the center of my chest. It felt like a fishing
line was hooked into my heart, and I had little
choice but to walk in the direction I felt it
was leading me. At this time in my life, I
was far more open to spiritual or supernatural experiences, so
I know I was far more likely to believe what
(19:12):
I was feeling. My sister then noticed the change in
my focus and behavior, and she asked if I was okay.
It was as if I could not speak or think,
only follow this feeling in my chest. My sister knew
that something was up, and she followed along. I kept
following this feeling, this tug, into the cottonwoods, where the
(19:33):
trees were closer together. The feeling was so odd, I
felt completely captivated. I did not want to feel or
follow anything else. As we went further along, I felt
that whatever this was was leading towards an opening between
two trees that had grown and arched together over a
dry stream bed. I know its typical, a natural doorway,
(19:56):
but as I walked closer, this feeling of joy, all
just happiness grew and grew. As my sister and I
stepped through the trees to this dry creek bed, clearing,
the tug stopped instead. It was as if light itself
became more real, golden, rich, as if you could now
(20:16):
touch and feel it. Outside noise faded away, and I
felt as if time had stopped. It was the same forest,
and yet completely not the same. As she and I
are standing there, silent and soaking it in I see
something black, two foot tall, dash across the clearing. Now,
(20:37):
either this thing came from behind one tree and then
disappeared behind another, but I'll be damned if it didn't
look like it came from under one tree and then
dove under another. Either way, I only got the quickest look.
But I had never seen anything like it in these
woods before or after. Shortly after this, both my sister
(20:57):
and I noticed that this feeling, this changed the world
around us faded away. In a few seconds. It was
clear that we were standing in the same forest as before,
nothing different from the last hundred times that we had
walked there. We then walked home in silence, as we
both had felt something profound before I continue. Please consider

from the same article, it comes another bizarre report, this
time involving some sort of time slip. The witness says
that he was eight years old at the time and
(22:08):
he was out with his older brother, who was eleven.
They were out on a particular trail right next to
a campground that went around a small lake in a
perfect circle with no offshoots or branching trails, which they
went out along to go fishing. On the other side
of the campground was what he calls a wilderness trail
that they had never used and which was off limits
(22:29):
on this day. They went out fishing as they had
many times before, but things would soon become unfamiliar and terrifying,
and the witness says this. The lake was in a
deep gully with high ridge lines that surrounded it, so
going off the trail was nearly impossible. It was small,
and our parents allowed us to use the trail to
(22:50):
go fishing, of which we had done all week. The
wilderness trail was about one hundred yards away from the
entrance of our loop and on the opposite side of
the campground, so we went fishing and after taking this
same trip many times before. It started getting dark and
we headed back to the campground. We ended up getting
lost for the remainder of the night. However, we never
(23:12):
went off trail, and at first light we appeared at
the entrance of the Wilderness Trail one hundred yards away.
At this point, our parents were flipping out and the
entire county had been searching for us, and neither of
us remembered anything other than walking up to the trailhead
in near dark. But we had lost time because to
(23:33):
us it had never gotten completely one hundred percent dark,
and it felt like dusk the entire time we were
lost and trying to find our way back. It only
felt like a couple of hours, but it was dawn
when we were found. We estimated that we were gone
for maybe ten or eleven hours. My brother claims to
remember some details, like falling down a cliff, running from someone,
(23:56):
or something literally dragging me as he ran through cobb
et cetera. Ever since, he's had bad dreams of bright
lights in the woods, a cave, shivering, rushing loud water,
or even engine sounds, et cetera. I, however, have never
had any memories from it. We were camping at Deem
Wilderness area and there was a well known cave a
(24:19):
few miles away. We recently went back to the area
to go fishing together and decided to take a look
around where we were at the campground almost thirty years later.
We then realized it would have been nearly impossible for
us to end up on the other trail, as the
cliffs and ravines were just too high. There was too
much distance between the two trails, and we would have
(24:39):
had to make it through impossible odds to end up
back at the entrance to the opposite trail and walking
in thick, untouched forest. Before concluding tonight's journey into the forest,
I'd like to share one last account that I think
you'll enjoy. This experience occurred in non nineteen sixty eight
(25:01):
in the Canadian Northwest Territories and was brought to my
attention through an article that was entitled a bizarre case
of a Doorway to another world in the Wilderness. The
article says this, in the summer of nineteen sixty eight,
a miner called Alex M was prospecting in the Canadian
Northwest Territories along with his partner V No h and
(25:24):
they were working for a Vancouver based mining company. They
were out scouting for mineral ore deposits in some pretty
remote and rough terrain, and they spent two and a
half months on this endeavor without finding anything of importance.
The last day of the trip, however, they discovered something
buried in the wilderness, and this would only be the
beginning to a bizarre series of events. While peering over
(25:47):
the side of a cliff, they noticed an odd gouge
in the earth below with a flat gully at its
bottom measuring fifty feet by four feet, which also had
two large rounded boulders at the top and seemed to
be strewn with some oddly shaped rocks and boulders covered
in moss, as well as featuring a tubular fog bank
that just sort of hovered there, unmoving and silent. It
(26:12):
was so strange that they decided to take a closer
look and explore this extraordinary site. On closer inspection, they
could see that the larger rocks were banana shaped and
about three feet long, and they seemed to be composed
of smaller, silvery rocks that were translucent and similar to
looking at frog's eggs. They then collected several of these
(26:33):
smaller rocks, which were reportedly as smooth as glass and
about the size of a potato, and neither of them
could identify what sort of mineral it could possibly be.
They also found numerous rounded, teardrop shaped pieces of smelted
rock that looked like glass, as well as slag that
seemed to have been produced by artificial mining activity, although
(26:54):
none was scheduled to be in that area at that time.
As they puzzled over this weird discovery, the bank of
fog hung in their background, swirling and churning slightly, but
still immobile and emanating a rather ominous feeling that made
both the men nervous. Making it all the more surreal
was a very large, uprooted tree that was lying on
(27:15):
its side next to the mist. It had extensive roots
that were jutting out in all directions, and which they
both deemed to be too large to have come from
the rocky gorge that they were in. But how it
got there they had not the slightest idea. It was
then that Alex crept closer to the pulsing bank of
fog and trying to peer into it, but couldn't see anything.
(27:37):
Beyond the veil of mist. The only thing that he
felt fairly certain of was that there was no drops
or shafts in the rocks along its bottom, and he
felt himself being drawn towards the cloud. An irresistible urge
to know what was on the other side overcame him,
and he felt compelled to take a few wary, experimental
steps within past the veil. As soon as he did,
(28:00):
a very strange thing happened, and he would later explain
this in a letter to his brother Bill as follows.
Approximately two steps into the mist, I saw a grassy field.
For as far as my vision was capable of seeing
at that time, the grass was about one foot tall
at that point. The more I advanced through the grass,
(28:20):
the higher the grass became. There was a wind blowing
from the grass away from me. On entering the mist,
my vision was limited to my left and right. I
advanced until the grass, which was brown colored, was approximately
three feet tall. Then I decided to retreat, which I did.
I cannot remember what the sky looked like, but gray
(28:42):
colored seems correct. I decided to go back into the mist,
and caution myself not to walk into the grass. I
went as far as I did the first time, and
things were the same. As I advanced, the grass got taller,
approximately four feet now, and my vision left and right
got wider. Far off to my right there was an
(29:03):
oasis with medium sized trees in a circle, with two
palm trees growing in the center of that circle. At
that point, I had had enough. At that time, my
mind went completely blank, except for one little piece of
my brain that was fighting the takeover of my brain. Next,
I was on my hands and knees with my brain
(29:23):
powers intact, and I got out of there in record time.
At this point, he was very unsettled and shaken, and
he felt utterly exhausted and drained, Unable to even stand up.
He crouched there out of breath, wondering what he had
just experienced and if it had even been real at all.
He would later say that he had felt menaced by
(29:44):
the mysterious grass that he had seen, set upon by
an uneasy dread that told him it would have been
dangerous to enter, although he did not know why he
felt this way. Then he saw something that made it
all even otter. Still, His brother would claim years later
that Alex told him about this in a phone conversation
(30:05):
and explains what happened in his report to the Center
for Ufo Studies also known as Soufas, and he explains
what his brother told him. He looked up at the
mist and he saw two men looking at him. They
were standing side by side at the edge of the
fog and about three feet off the ground. They appeared
to be six feet tall or even more. They had
(30:27):
long hair and long beards that were salt and pepper colored.
They appeared to be forty or so years old. They
looked Caucasian, having facial features like ours, but he could
not see any eyeballs. They looked as if they were
identical twins. They were wearing pale colored pants and robes
that extended down midway between the knee and ankle, and
(30:48):
they had belts around their middle, and they were both
wearing sandals. For a moment, he looked back down at
the ground and then back up at the two men
in the mist, and now one was off to one
side in the mist and behind the front man. The
man in the front was still standing, while the man
in the back seemed to be sitting on a chair
that was not there. And it was a lot more
(31:08):
difficult to see him in the mist. The man in
the back reminded him of the statue called the Thinker.
Neither of them said anything, they only watched him. Alex
said that at this point he was feeling quite shaken,
and he decided to go back to camp. Alex would
apparently decide not to tell his partner nor anyone back
(31:28):
at their camp what he had experienced in the fog,
keeping the story to himself for years and long debating
with himself over whether to go back and try to
find what he called a doorway. For decades. He never
told a soul about any of it, but he did
send a description of the bizarre rocks to a geologist
called doctor Sinclair, who purportedly was baffled as to what
(31:50):
sort of rocks they could possibly be. Alex finally told
the strange tale to his brother Bill, and it was
