Speaker 1 (00:05):
This episode is brought to you by my newest supporters,
Lean Dave, Sabrina, Exen, and Mary. Thank you so very
much for making the show possible. Welcome back to Paranormal Mysteries,
(00:34):
and thank you for joining me as we explore the unknown.
I'm your host, Nick Ryan. I appreciate your patience while
I've been away over the last two weeks, and I'm
anxious to get back to work and tonight, I'd like
to begin with a couple of more positive encounters with
the unexplained, but I'll end the show with some that
are a little darker and more mysterious. With that said,
(00:58):
let's begin tonight's journey with Sharon. Sharon previously wrote in
with her experiences at a nursing home that she used
to work at, and this is a continuation of her experiences.
Sharon had this to say, he Nick, thank you for
reading my story. I no longer work at that nursing
home from my first story, and I've instead moved on
(01:19):
to a more modern nursing home. The lights are brighter,
the halls are clean and spotless, and people are constantly
around twenty four to seven. There are many things they
can teach you while working in a nursing home, but
coping with the loss of a resident that you got
close to is not one of them. I know a
lot of people think that working in a nursing home
(01:40):
is awful, but the nurses and the CNAs that work
with me, and the dietary staff are all very kind
and compassionate people. We get all kinds of residence in there,
from dementia to stroke victims who have their minds but
are just not able to move their bodies. These people
had regular lives at one point in time, and now
they suddenly themselves in a place like where I work
(02:02):
and relying on people they don't even know that will
take care of them. So the CNAs and nurses try
to be as kind and compassionate with them as possible
so that they feel comfortable with them and trust them
with their care. I work in the kitchen. That is
the place that I'm most comfortable with. I have much
respect for the nurses and the CNAs for the jobs
(02:22):
that they do, mostly because I don't think I could
do it. But being in the kitchen and getting to
feed everyone, I get to meet almost every resident that
we have. I got real close to a couple of them,
very sweet ladies who were just the epitome of a grandma. Kind,
soft spoken, gentle loving, and just someone that you can
sit and talk to forever. One of the residents, who
(02:46):
I'll call Gladys, was one of my favorites. She and
I were both avid readers, and we would exchange books.
We would talk about our favorite parts, and she would
always give me a warm hug and tell me that
she was going to see me tomorrow and she would
thank me for spending time with her. She was very
excited because her seventy seventh birthday was coming up and
she was going to be getting picked up by her
(03:07):
daughter to go home for a while, and she was
going to be seeing her brothers and sisters once again.
She had presents for them and was very excited. She
told me that when she gets back, she'll tell me
all about the birthday party and her family and then
show me pictures. She left that Friday and came back
on Sunday night. I was off that weekend, so I
(03:28):
did not get to see her. I came in on
Monday and was starting my day as usual, talking to
a coworker about the menus for the day and That
was when she spoke up and said, oh, by the way,
you can pull Gladys's menu. She passed away last night.
It was very sudden and we don't know what happened.
I was stunned. I stood in silence with my mouth open,
(03:52):
unable to speak for a few minutes, and then I
just burst into tears and started to cry. My sweet Gladys,
who I was going to talk to that day, was
gone and I was not prepared. I ended up having
to go to the bathroom for a few minutes to
pull myself together so that I could continue working. I
broke into tears a few more times throughout the day,
(04:13):
and I then remembered that I still had some of
her books. Her daughter stopped by to pick up her belongings,
and I asked her if she wanted the books back,
and she told me that no, her mother had a
lot of books and they weren't going to be missed
and that I could keep them. She also told me
about how her mother told her about me and how
her and I would exchange books. She loved you very much,
(04:35):
she said, you are one of the dearest people here
to her, and I thank you for loving my mother. Later,
I went home and told my husband what had happened,
bursting into tears once again. I said a prayer that
night to Gladys to let her know that I was
going to miss her, and I then went to bed.
I thought about her off and on and for a
(04:55):
couple of days after her passing, but after about a
week or two, the pain had subsided and I was
able to think of her without crying. It was probably
a month after her passing when I was cleaning up
the dining room area and I suddenly thought of her again.
She had a particular spot that she liked to sit
where she could look out the window into the back
(05:16):
and look at the trees and grass and the flower
gardens that were back there. I put my hand on
that chair and I just whispered that I miss you.
In my ear, I heard a faint whisper, I miss
you too, in the soft, breathy voice that was hers.
I stood straight up and I turned around so fast
I almost fell against the wall, But of course there
(05:39):
was nothing there. I thought to myself that I was
just wanting to hear her voice once again, so in
my mind I tried to trick myself into hearing it. Again.
So I finished cleaning the dining room, and I went
home thinking about that voice, but still wondering if I
had just tricked myself into hearing it. The next day,
I got to work, and when the CNAs asked me
(06:01):
if I had left a book in the dining room,
I said no, and that I had cleaned it last night,
and that there were no books. She then handed me
a book and written inside of it was my name.
It was floury and small, which was Gladys's handwriting. She
was afraid that somebody would take her books, so she
wrote her name inside the cover of every book that
she had there. It was one of the style of
(06:23):
books that Gladys would read and we would exchange. This
one was chicken Soup for the soul. Laughter is the
best medicine. Gladys and I laughed a lot. She had
the sweetest, giggliest little laugh that would make me laugh
even harder. I know perfectly well that book was not
in the dining room when I closed it out the
night before, so I asked my coworker, where did you
(06:45):
find it. She then pointed to the table in the corner,
and she said it was on that table. It was
the same table that Gladys would sit at. I then
smiled and I hugged the book to my chest. Gladys
had given me a last gift. It was her voice
that I heard. I still have that book and I
(07:07):
treasure it. Many people have come and gone that have
come through those nursing home doors that I loved and
had to say goodbye to, but I will never forget
my Gladess. Our next experience of the evening comes to
us from Katie, and Katie's experience is called Dreams and
(07:30):
the House that made Me Uneasy. Heinik, I have a
couple of experiences to share with you, one from my
childhood and one from recently. I am now twenty six.
My childhood experience begin with my childhood best friend. We
will just call her See. We do not talk anymore,
(07:50):
so I do not want her name out there. See
came from a family of gifted mediums. She told me
at a very young age that she could see ghosts
and speak to them. Her dad could as well. There was,
of course, sometimes that I had my doubts that what
she was telling me was true. But as time went
on and the stories that she told me got stranger
and more personal. I definitely began to take them seriously.
(08:15):
We grew up in a small city in Kentucky. They
had begun building a brand new neighborhood behind where we lived.
Kids being kids, we would go on walks and go
in the houses that were being built, and we would
just hang out and look around. Everything was fun until
we got to this particular house that automatically gave me
and her a weird feeling. There was a window above
(08:36):
the garage that gave us the feeling that someone was
looking out of it and watching us. I thought I
was just being dramatic, until she looked at me and
told me that there was a little girl that was
standing in that window and watching us. I was slightly
shaken up, but we still went inside. As we began
walking through that house, it was just a very heavy
(08:57):
and dark feeling. She told me that she could hear
things whispering to her, but was unsure of what they
were saying. Time after time we went back as the
house was being built, kind of like we were drawn
to it. Almost every time was the same as the last,
and we would leave feeling odd after every trip. One day, though,
after being there a dozen times, I took my dog
(09:18):
with me. She was a little beagle and she was
my shadow, and she never left my side for anything.
We went to the house that day and went downstairs.
She was listening and trying to understand someone or something
that was talking to her, when all of a sudden,
my dog let out a loud yelp and ripped her
leash from my hands and ran upstairs. Startled, I took
(09:41):
off after her. As I turned the corner, she was
standing at the top of the steps waiting for me,
but refused to come back down. I was almost frozen
in place. She then went walking around me up the stairs,
and when she turned around, her eyes got big. She
told me to either run as fast as I could
or remained perfectly still, but not to turn around because
(10:04):
there was something or someone standing behind me. I decided
that running up the steps was the best option. As
I made it to the landing on the top, I
grabbed my dog's leash and turned to leave the house.
Before we could make it out, though, a ruler that
was on a work bench in the middle of the
living room flew off the table, and I noticed a
sharpie that was on the table earlier had been moved
(10:26):
to another spot. We left quickly after that. Now I'm
unsure why we went back after that experience, but we did.
When we entered the house this time, there was a
lady in the loft area above the living room. Spooked.
We apologized and said that we were just curious what
the house looked like inside. Oddly, she told us it
(10:47):
was fine and that we could come back anytime we wanted.
I didn't think much of it at that time, but
now I look back and I wonder if that lady
was actually there. Still to this day, thirteen years later,
if I look this house up on Google Maps, I
get such an uneasy feeling. And that same window where
someone was standing and watched us feels the same way.
(11:12):
My next experience starts in April of twenty twenty four.
I was asleep one night and I heard my grandpa,
who I'll call Poppy, very clearly, say I love you
Katie in the same silly voice that he used to
read my favorite childhood book in This is not relevant
to the story, really, but the book was called a Monster.
At the end of this book, I have a recording
(11:34):
of him reading it to my cousin's daughter, and it
still makes me smile. But anyway, back to my story.
I got up and went to work the next day
as usual. Halfway through my workday, I got a call
from my mom telling me that they had found Poppy
passed away in his house that morning, and they think
it happened late the night before or early that morning.
(11:55):
I didn't think much of it at that time, and
I grabbed my stuff and I rushed over to the
to be there with my mom and my brother. It
wasn't until later that I remembered my dream, if that
is what you would call it. I now know that
it was my Poppy telling me goodbye, and I love
that he talked to me one more time. It brings
me comfort knowing that him and my Nana, who passed
(12:17):
away three years prior, were together once again. After she passed,
he kept a picture of her on the kitchen table,
right where she would have been sitting. It was still
in that same spot when we begin cleaning out his house.
I have had a couple of other experiences I would
like to share, but this is my first submission, so
I will wait for another time. I love listening to
(12:38):
the podcast, as I love anything strange and unusual. It
is what gets me through my commute to and from
work every day. Our next experience comes to us from Paxton,
and Paxton says this, Hey, Nick, I really appreciate all
you do with the podcast and letting people have an
(13:00):
open community to tell their stories. It's nice to know
there is more to the world than we know. My
story is a bit of a short one, but I
feel like it's something that many people have experienced. This
happened about thirteen years ago when I was about seven
or eight years old. Me and my dad went to
visit my uncle. We stopped by since we were in
the area, and my uncle was in the basement doing
(13:23):
some last touch ups on the renovation of his house.
He was in the basement when we got there, so
we joined him down there. While my dad and him
were talking, the door to the crawl space was already open,
so I wandered in there to check things out. I
walked to the back right corner from where the door was,
and I remember picking up a Halloween bucket that you
would put candy in to pass out to trigger treaters.
(13:45):
But when I went to pick it up, I saw
a black shadow figure dart from the corner. Of my
eye and I turned around to look at it. The
shadow figure was still standing there and watching me. This
obviously freaked me out so bad that I ran out,
and my dad asked me right away what was wrong,
and I told him that someone was in the crawl space.
(14:05):
So both my dad and my uncle took a peek inside,
but they didn't see anything, and my uncle then told
me that it was just my cousin in there, so
I believed it. About three years later, though, me and
my dad were hanging out and I asked him about
the experience and he said that both him and my
uncle both saw something black dart from behind the stuff
(14:26):
that they were storing in there, but they were both
so freaked out about it that they didn't want to
tell me that there was something unexplainable in there, so
they just made up the story about it being my cousin.
To this day, this is the only paranormal thing that
I have ever experienced. Thank you for reading this, and
I hope that people realize that there is more to
(14:47):
this world than they know. This next experience comes to
us from Joanne, and Joanne's story is called Visit from
the Devil. I grew up on the south side of Tucson, Arizona,
and I lived in an area known for paranormal activities.
(15:09):
Growing up, everyone in the neighborhood had some type of
scary story to tell. The house I lived in had
a lot of activity, so much so that I believe
it contributed to my parents divorce as well as family drama.
One night, I was in bed and I suddenly woke
up realizing that I couldn't move. My body was frozen
and I felt like dead weight. I was laying on
(15:31):
my stomach and I couldn't move a muscle except for
my head. As I looked every which way. I tried
calling out for my mom, but I had no voice.
All I could muster was a low, whispered screech. It
was the most frustrating feeling. Soon after this, I noticed
movement on my bed, as if someone or something was
(15:52):
crawling on it. The moon brought in just enough light
that I could see the indentations on the bed getting
closer to me. I closed my eye in terror, trying
again to yell for my mom, but again nothing would
come out. I opened my eyes again and I saw
the most evil face glaring at me with a wide
grinned smile. Its teeth were sharp and uneven. It had
(16:14):
horns and a triangular, mangled face without skin, and it
had an extremely thin body with patches of gray hair.
As it came closer, I tried screaming, and I felt
it creeping up on top of me, but I was
still immobile. As I laid there crying, the weight got
heavier and heavier, and I was certain that I was
(16:34):
going to die. It lasted for what felt like forever,
but it was probably only a few seconds. As I
became ready to resign to it, I shut my eyes tight,
and the next thing I knew, I was able to move,
and the sun was out. It was morning. This was
just one of the many events that I experienced in
our house. Thank you for allowing me to tell my story,
(16:58):
and I hope to send you even or before I continue.

After these brief messages, our next experience of the night
(17:42):
comes to us from Charity, and Charity's experience is called
sleep paralysis demon Stole my Babies. Charity says, Hello, Nick.
I just recently started listening this summer after I found
your podcast while doing a search for Ashley Inks recordings,
where I was looking to tell my story. My oldest
(18:05):
son and I are hooked now and he keeps telling
me to submit my story here as well. I have
been trying to do so for two months now, but
every time something has come up that distracts me. I'm
not quite sure how to explain that, other than it
slightly ties into the main topic, which I will be
getting to first though, before I begin, I was recently
listening to episode four forty two about the Little Blue Beings,
(18:29):
and I have to start there. To preface, I can
count a specific number of times I have experienced any
kind of sleep paralysis, and it all began with Little
Blue Beings. In late two thousand and nine, my husband
and I were crashing at my in laws house for
a few months while we were waiting for the people
who were renting our house while I was in graduate
(18:49):
school in another state to move out when their lease
was up. One morning, right before sunrise, I woke up
and I could not move anything except my eyes, just
like the person described in episode four forty two. I
mentally tried to fight this, and finally I was able
to slightly roll to my left side. I was on
the left side of the bed, which was about eighteen
(19:10):
inches from the wall. Standing next to me in that
space between the bed and the wall were three beings.
Like the story says in episode four forty two. They
were small, maybe three feet tall, with large heads and
big black eyes. They were all looking at me, and
one had a hand touching my arm, which was covered
(19:30):
by a comforter. I attempted to reach out towards them
to make sure that I was actually seeing what I
was seeing, and that is when they all backed up
and into the wall. It looked like they literally dissolved
into the wall. At that point, I was able to
sit up and I started touching the wall trying to
see where they went. My husband then woke up and
(19:51):
asked me what I was doing, and I told him
I'm trying to figure out where they went. Now, he's
a hardcore skeptic, and he thinks that I was just dreaming.
But I was absolutely wide awake for the entire interaction.
I had never woken or seemingly woken up and not
been able to move prior to this incident. So I'm
calling this my first episode of sleep paralysis, even though
(20:14):
I was no doubt awake for it. Also, I had
never heard anyone describe these beings like I saw them
until I heard that episode of your podcast. Everyone that
I told that story to always assumed that I meant
more of the Gray's type of description, where they are
tall or humanoid and gray or even green. I was
shocked to finally hear someone describe them exactly how I
(20:36):
had seen them and experienced them. I felt a bit justified,
if I do say so myself. So thank you to
that listener and for you for telling the story. That
was my only interaction with them, however, or at least
so far. About a month later, I had my next
sleep paralysis incident, specifically where you're awake but not awake.
(20:59):
I mentally woke up and everything was exactly how it
was supposed to be. My husband was asleep next to me,
the nightstand was on the other side of me, and
the room was how it was when I went to sleep. However,
I could not move at all, and there were tiny
red demon like creatures that were crawling all over me
and they were laughing. They were biting my toes, scratching
(21:22):
my legs, and pinching me everywhere else. I tried to
scream or move, but I couldn't. It felt like in
some of those shows where suddenly your mouth is gone
or even stitched shut. Finally, I'd apparently made enough garbled
noise that it woke my husband up, who then shook me,
and I was able to break out of whatever was
going on with me. But again, I know I was
(21:44):
not fully asleep because I saw my husband from the
corner of my eye wake up and then shake me
before the creatures actually disappeared. I was afraid to go
back to sleep that night with just cause, because once
I did, it happened all over again time. I cannot
explain what exactly it was that happened that night, but
(22:05):
I have not liked sleeping in my in law's basement
ever since, and when the morning came, I did have
unexplained marks all over me. This brings me to the
next portion of my story, where the sleep paralysis dmon
comes into play, and I have to issue a disclaimer here.
This part of my story discusses pregnancy loss, which could
(22:27):
be triggering for some listeners. To start, my husband and
I tried unsuccessfully for a few years to have children.
After so long of constant disappointment, we finally had medical
intervention starting in early twenty twelve. Almost immediately after starting medicine,
I became pregnant. We were very surprised and elated, especially
(22:48):
since my husband had broken his leg not long before
we found out, so it was nice to have something
exciting to look forward to. Unfortunately, though, it ended up
being an ectopic pregnancy and it was not viable. I
was around seven weeks pregnant. However, the day before I
found this out, I had my first sleep paralysis demon episode.
(23:11):
I was in that same state where you're awake but
not awake. Everything was in its exact place around me,
husband and dog included, and I could not move at all.
My first thought was back to the little blue beings
and the little red demons. But then, before I could
give it any more thought, a very large and dense
shadow figure came up next to me. This was the dark,
(23:34):
beyond dark kind of figure, the kind that no light
can penetrate. It loomed over me for a moment, and then,
with its i'll say appendage, since it wasn't really a hand,
it reached into my abdomen and began almost digging around
it seemed. Immediately all I could feel was excruciating pain.
(23:55):
Then just as quickly as it came, it slunk off,
and I was released from the paraal says. The next day,
I found out that my pregnancy was not viable. Later
that same year, in early fall, I was finally pregnant
once again. My numbers were looking great, I felt great,
and everything was good. But then it happened again. He
(24:18):
came back. I don't know how I know that it's
a he, I just do, and he repeated the same process.
The very next week, my doctor told me once again
that I was losing my pregnancy at eleven weeks. This time,
I was devastated, and I just chalked the sleep paralysis
demon off to my mind. Trying to subconsciously help me
(24:38):
cope with the losses. Then two months later, right after Thanksgiving,
I was pregnant for the third time. I just knew
in my gut that this one was going to be okay.
I can't explain how I knew, I just did. It
was then that I began seeing my deceased grandmother everywhere.
She had died when I was fourteen, but prior to
(24:59):
that we were super close. She was such an amazing woman,
and even now, over thirty years later, I still miss her.
I never saw the sleep paralysis demon during that pregnancy,
but I did see Clara's Day my grandmother standing over
my ultrasound photos one evening early on in the pregnancy,
and she was pointing at them and smiling at me.
(25:21):
I turned to ask my husband if he could see her,
but when I turned back around, she was gone. It
meant so much to me that that happened. I am
not a religious person, but I do believe in spirits
and parallel planes or even dimensions. To see her there,
almost as if she was claiming protection over my baby,
meant the world to me, even after twenty years. At
(25:42):
that time of her being gone during labor for my son.
At the end of that pregnancy, in the summer of
twenty thirteen, a nurse came into my room and stopped
short and gasped. She then asked me who the woman
was that was sitting next to me in the chair
by my hospital bed. However, there was no one there.
The chair was empty. So I asked her to describe
(26:04):
the person that she was seeing, and she perfectly described
my grandmother. And she said that she was sitting next
to me and beaming at my son. So I like
to think that my son definitely has his own guardian angel.
A little bit of time later, my husband and I
were trying for another baby. In both January and July
(26:24):
of twenty fifteen, I was pregnant again, and both times
the incident occurred with the sleep paralysis demon, and I
again lost both pregnancies. I was shocked and once again devastated.
That September, I became pregnant again. It all happened for
the third time that year, in November, when I was
(26:45):
twelve weeks a long, except this time, when the demon came,
I was ready pissed off and I was determined. I
fought with everything I had in my mind to get
my body to move, and somehow I did it. I
fought it off. However, it had substance. I was not
expecting that, but I think I must have caught it
off guard or something, because as quickly as I touched it,
(27:08):
it became like smoke or a mist. It was still
a solid darkness, but it had no substance, and then
it retreated once again. The next night, I woke up
and I knew something was a miss. However, I went
to use the restroom around midnight and I discovered that
I was bleeding. I started to freak out and I
called out to my husband. He rushed me out the
(27:30):
door and I was off to the hospital. However, he
had to stay home with our older kiddo. When I
got there, they performed all of the necessary tests, but
of course they couldn't tell me anything because none of
them were my actual doctor. I had to wait four
hours on the edge of my seat for my doctor
to walk downstairs from the maternity ward to the emergency room.
(27:50):
Turns out I was in the beginning stages of placenta previa,
where basically things are separating from where they should be.
So I was put on bed rest for two weeks,
and at the two week mark I was cleared. However,
it was such a difficult pregnancy. I had numerous complications
and I almost lost my second son two more times.
(28:11):
That March. During Easter weekend, we were at my in
laws house. I was looking at a picture on the
wall and I noticed someone standing behind me. I knew
exactly who it was when I saw him, and I
very audibly gasped, which got the attention of every one
in the room. And of course, when I turned around,
there was no one there behind me. Whom I had seen,
(28:31):
though clear as day, was my husband's birth father. He
had died in a plane crash when my husband was
only two and a half years old. When I glimpsed
him in the reflection of the glass, he was smiling
at me, and I felt a kind of peaceful reassurance
wash over me, and lo and behold. My second son
was born the following spring in twenty sixteen, So I
(28:53):
suppose it safe to hazard a guess that both of
my boys have a guardian angel watching over them. After
my second son was born, I was pregnant three more times,
twice in twenty eighteen and once in two thousand and nineteen,
but sadly, the demon won each of those battles. Like
I stated earlier, though I don't know if this was
(29:15):
just my subconscious telling me in its own way that
my pregnancies were not viable, or if this is just
one of those unexplainable paranormal experiences. I hadn't had a
single sleep paralysis episode since that last pregnancy that I
lost until recently. I also mentioned earlier that I'd been
trying to type this up but kept getting distracted. Every
(29:37):
time I would sit down to type this up, something
would come up, to the point where even my oldest
son noticed. Then one night, I fell asleep while trying
to type this up on my phone. And it may
not come as a surprise as to who paid me
a visit that night. You guessed it the sleep paralysis damon.
Oddly enough, he was going after my phone this time.
(29:58):
I fought hard and trying to say no, and then
finally it ended he was gone and I was released.
My husband then startled me and asked me if I
was okay. I thought he'd been asleep, but he apparently
saw my whole struggle. He said that my eyes were
open and I kept twitching and grunting, but he couldn't
(30:18):
get my attention for a moment. He said that finally
he shook me enough that I snapped out of it.
That was just two weeks ago, right before Halloween. Even now,
I tried to submit my story via your website and
it just kept having errors, so I am attempting to
send this via email instead. I just want to say
(30:39):
thank you. If you end up reading my story, and
if someone hears it that has gone through something similar,
I hope that it helps someone know that they're not alone.
Thank you for sharing and giving everyone a place to
feel open and free to tell our stories. And I
hope everyone has a great holiday season. Before I bring
(31:03):
tonight's episode to an end, I'd like to thank all
of our experiencers for coming forward with their stories, and
as always, I truly appreciate each and every one of
you for listening and showing your support. With that said,
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your evening
and I'll be back in just a few short days
with more tales of the unexplained. And until then, please remember,
(31:26):
don't wait for the unknown to come to you. Get
out there and find it.
