Speaker 1 (00:01):
This episode is brought to you by my newest supporters, Wanda, Dave, Brent,
and Sean. Thank you for making the show possible. Tonight,
I'll be sharing an extraordinary eyewitness report of a humanoid
(00:22):
creature that was encountered in North Carolina and documented by
the local Sheriff's office and nine one one Dispatch. It's
a case that's so chilling. The eyewitness refused to talk
about it until recently, but admits that he still has
no idea what he saw. All he knows is that
it was very real and that it wasn't human. Perhaps
(00:45):
someone listening has had a similar experience and can shed
some light on this terrifying mystery. Perhaps that's someone is you.
(01:11):
Twenty five miles northwest of Wilmington, North Carolina, sits the
small community of Curry, a quiet, unassuming hamlet nestled in
the southwest corner of Pender County. And although many folks
may not be familiar with Curry, some of you may
know that the first Conjuring movie was actually filmed in
an old farmhouse in this very town. However, just a
(01:32):
five minute drive away on Highway to ten, you'll find
what is arguably the area's most well known attraction, the
Moors Creek National Battlefield. In the early morning hours of
February twenty seventh, seventeen seventy six, Loyalist forces charged across
the partially dismantled Moors Creek Bridge. Beyond the bridge, nearly
(01:54):
one thousand North Carolina Patriots waited quietly with cannons and
muskets ready to fire. This battle marked the last broadsword
charge by Scottish Highlanders and the first significant victory for
the Patriots in the American Revolution. On June second, nineteen
twenty six, the site was established as a National Military Park,
(02:16):
and fifty four years later, on September eighth, nineteen eighty,
it was redesignated as a National Battlefield, commemorating the seventeen
seventy six victory. In the decades following its establishment, Morse
Creek National Battlefield has played host to tens of thousands
of visitors every year. But beyond the park's beautiful trails
(02:37):
and memorial sites that one would expect to encounter, its
patrons have also had odd and sometimes even terrifying experiences
that they couldn't explain. Many of the reports involve seeing phantoms,
dressed in old military uniforms, and some visitors have even
heard what they describe as the sounds of battle. But
(02:58):
as bizarre as these experiences may be, there are others
that paint a much darker picture of what might be lurking,
not only on the battlefield itself, but in the forests
that surround it. Some my witnesses have claimed to see
dark specters peering at them from the edge of the road,
while others have encountered mysterious creatures looming in the tree
line or in some cases, even in the back of
(03:21):
their vehicle. And this is where Tonight's story truly begins.
In an interview on the YouTube channel Carolina case Files,
Pender County Sheriff Alan Cutler gave a brief introduction to
the Pender County area, as well as the initial events
that transpired late one evening just after eleven PM on
(03:42):
July thirty first, twenty twenty one. Here is a portion
of that interview.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Pinner County is a vast, big county. We've got around
nine hundred square miles. On the east part of the county,
we have the Atlantic Ocean and a more populated area.
We have rivers that come through our county and then
we have what I call the country, which is the
western part of the county, and that's where the area
(04:13):
of Curry and the Moors Creek National Battlefield is located.
Curry is an area on the western side of our county.
It has a few small stores residences. For years there
residents and people out there in the Curry area near
the battlefield have reported seeing things and hearing things that
(04:34):
they couldn't exactly understand. The Moors Creek National Battlefield does
sit well off the roadway. In the years past, we
have had deputies responded that area, different noises on the
battlefield itself, things being seen on the battlefield that just
couldn't be explained. About eleven o'clock PM that evening, a
(04:55):
call came into our now on one dispatch of an
individual standing on the side of the road and it
appeared to be bleeding.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Now.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
He stated he was traveling fifty five or sixty mile
an hour, so I can see how traveling at speed
in the dark, it would be difficult to exactly identify
what he saw, but he stated that it looked like
a human being standing there with streaks of blood coming
down it is very hard to listen to that call
to that nine one one tape without becoming somewhat a neerved.
(05:27):
It actually bothered me the first time that I heard it.
I'm afraid it's probably just one of those things in
this world that we may not ever know the answer to.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
As Sheriff Cutler mentioned, the eyewitness proceeded to call nine
one one as he drove down North Carolina to ten,
which is a fairly quiet two lane road. As he
was about to cross over the Black River, he saw
what he believed to be a man that was standing
in the ditch and covered in blood. But in the
moments following his initial description to the nine one one operator,
(05:58):
the situation quickly became downright terrifying. As you can hear
something hit the caller's truck and he begins screaming. This
is the full audio from the nine to one to
one dispatch that evening.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Com Okunty, now one one, what's the address of your emergency.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
I'm driving on two tin. I just crossed the Black
River and I thought I saw a guy expanding on
the side of the road, bleeding.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Okay, where are you at, sir?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I'm on two tin. I just crossed the Black River.
I'm heading forwards fifty three E. I just passed h Patriots.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
Watch okay, see you're iron near Morse Creek yet. Okay?
And did you you saw a man stand.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
On the side of the road, just ma'amo And it
looked like he was bleeding because when I drove quiet,
I had my high beings on and all I could
see was just some streaks of breast going down in
his body, starting at his head.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
Okay, hold on, I'm trying to exactly where you're at.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Okay, I'm finding it in the middle of the wood.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
That's a moment, Yes, sir, I'm familiar with the area.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
What's the fuck?
Speaker 4 (07:32):
What was that? Sir?
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Why's not hearing?
Speaker 2 (07:35):
What's not you?
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Red?
Speaker 5 (07:38):
Sir?
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Are you okay?
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Sir? There's something in the bottle truck?
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Okay, what's in the road.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
No, it's not in the holders in my truck.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
There there's something in the bed of your truck.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Just ma'am. Just turns going my butt like for my truck,
and there was something in my bread.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Okay, sir. When you say something, what do you mean.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
I just knocked it off of the bronto of my
truck and went over my room.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Okay, what was it? I don't know, like a turkey,
a deer, oh turkey?
Speaker 3 (08:17):
That wasn't a turkey to driving fifty miles.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
And it was not covered in feathers at all.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Okay, all right, sir? What do you think it was?
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Why have no idea what to know that was? And
this is Jersey, absolute hell out of me. And I
just knocked it off on my truck when I claimed
on the break.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
I'm sure you did, sir. I mean, I'll be scared too.
I'm just trying to think. What is there any damnage
to your vehicles?
Speaker 3 (08:52):
I don't know, but I'm waiting until I get further away.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Okay, sir, there's.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Another there's another trucking on me at the moment.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Okay, I'm leaving.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
I'm leaving my that's white son.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Okay, I don't see it anymore.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
I don't see it in the distance or anything.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
And you think it was in the road. Did it
hit the front of your trust?
Speaker 3 (09:20):
It went over the roof of my truck and onto
my hooting that hit the road before I took off again.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Okay, I'm I understand, sir. And you said it didn't
have feathers, so that that rules.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Out of it just looks pale almost.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Okay. It was light in color, yes, all right? So
whereabouts are you at now, sir?
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Have you got to.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
I just passed. I just passed some gas stations and
a few houses. I just pass some houses right now.
I'm about seven miles from fifty three?
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Okay? All right, sir? Have you gotten your school yet?
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Bordered road?
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (10:14):
All right?
Speaker 4 (10:14):
See an area port road mappis corner rade, yes, ma'am.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Okay. I don't know if you heard that bang before
I started streaming, but I heard a bang. I did
on my wife.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
I heard a thud. And back to the man that
you saw, you said he was covered in blood.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
It looked like he was bleeding from his head and
heavily because it was going down his torso.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
And was he white black? Hispanic?
Speaker 3 (10:47):
He was white. And he was staring at me as
I drove by, just blankly, which kind of weirded me out,
like you had some trauma, like he had one more
strawma to his head as possible concussion former army and
it's something wasn't right, like he had some form of
brain injuries. He was just staring him me the entire
(11:07):
time as I was driving through them, and when I
drive past them, and until he was out of sight.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
Okay, okay, all right, now, where are you at now?
Speaker 3 (11:25):
By what looks like a corner store with some huemall trailer?
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Okay, uh, have you say.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Some lights on it?
Speaker 4 (11:37):
It's uh?
Speaker 3 (11:37):
What is that my past County corner store?
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (11:43):
All right?
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Can you pull over in there and check your truck? Yes? Okay?
Speaker 1 (11:54):

(12:17):
show is the best support of all, and I'm grateful
to have you here. Now, please stay tuned and I'll
be right back. After these brief messages, several miles down
the road from where his experience took place, the witness
pulls into a small corner store in order to check
(12:37):
for damage to his truck and to await the arrival
of local law enforcement. Eventually they arrive and file a
report with the eyewitness. They then ask him to accompany
them to the locations where he saw the bloody man
and the unidentified creature. He reluctantly agrees, but upon arriving
back at both locations, no evidence of either entity can
(12:59):
be found. The case is subsequently handed over to the
Highway Patrol to continue the investigation, and eventually parks and
Wildlife even help in searching for the injured man or
anything else they might find, but after flying a drone
over the entire area, no sign of anything is ever found.
The report is eventually relegated to a file cabinet and
(13:22):
there it sat for the last four years. That is
until Carolina Case Files heard about the Bazaar sighting and,
after doing some digging, was not only able to interview
the sheriff, but also tracked down the witness from the
nine to one one call, a man known only as
Tea for reasons of anonymity. After months of communicating back
(13:43):
and forth, Tea eventually agreed to be interviewed by Rusty
from Carolina Case Files, and he provides some very disturbing
details regarding the creature. That allegedly jumped into the bed
of his truck. These details were not revealed during the
nine one one recording, and they completely changed my initial
impression of what took place that night. For this reason,
(14:04):
i'd like to share a small portion of the interview
with you now. But I first want to stress that
this interview is worth watching in its entirety, and I
urge you to visit the Carolina case Files YouTube channel
via the links in the show notes in order to
give them the credit that they deserve. Here is a
portion of that interview.
Speaker 5 (14:24):
I guess I'll start from the beginning of the trip.
I was coming up from Florida to visit my family
at the time. I was going to a trade school
down there. And when I was driving up here to
where the incident occurred, the battle by the battlefield, it
was already easily like well into the morning. I wasn't
(14:47):
looking at my phone. I just know it was hitch
black outside and I couldn't see the moon, stars, nothing,
just barely the road through my headlights, and I have
my window down because they wasn't working the best. And
as I was coming around, there's a massive right curve
right there before you cross the Black River, and then
(15:10):
after that you have the battlefield, so on that massive
black curve. As I'm coming around, I had just started
the curve and I was about a third of the
way through it, and I look over into the ditch
on my right because I caught a quick glimpse of something,
and as I take a further look, it looks like
there's a i'd say probably a thirty something year old
(15:32):
man standing in that ditch wearing what looks like an
old Civil War uniform, just covered had to toe in
blood and the uniform was torn as well. That that
threw me off because because I didn't expect to see
it at like one, two, three o'clock in the morning. Well,
I'm calling nine to one one after I see him
(15:54):
to report that, because for all I know, it could
have just been a normal guy that was injured and
needed a medical needed emergency help. It looked like what
had happened is he hit his head on something and
the blood was just pulling down over his face and
torso and well, as I was calling, you know, everything
(16:16):
seemed perfectly normal. Just quit phone call to the nine
one one, let them know, hey, there's a guy out here. Well,
as you know from the nine one one call short
right as soon as I reported that, I already had
my window up at that point, all of a sudden,
I heard a massive bang in on my truck, and
(16:36):
my truck bounced down from the rear like I was
pulling a heavy trailer and I had a pothole. And
so I'm sitting there going, what the hell was that?
Which I'm pretty sure you heard me, Help yo, What
the hell? I turned on my bed light and I
looked in my rearview mirror, and all I saw was
(16:59):
this white like snow white face right up against my
rear windshield, like it was looking into my truck trying
to see what it could see. It had salt shallow,
sunken eyes. It had no nose. Just think if you
(17:19):
took skin and put it on a human skull and
stretched it thin, couldn't see any ears, just that, And
immediately just I just started screaming. I didn't realize until
afterwards that I had said that's not human on the call,
(17:41):
because it was just the first thing. I started screaming
because I was terrified. I didn't have my firearm with me.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Nothing.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
Well I'm doing in between, like fifty five sixty miles
an hour when this happens. And I just stomped on
the gas for a second. When I looked at this
sphedometer before I slammed on my brakes, I was doing
maybe eighty and I slammed on those brakes with all
my might, and I went from like eighty miles an
hour down to like thirty five in just like a
(18:12):
couple of seconds. And all I see is this just
this super scrawny long body just fly over my truck
in a ball rolling And I then swerved to the
left and get back in the travel lane and I
flore it. And as I'm swerving to the left, I
(18:35):
see it stand up and it is easily taller than
that truck. I'm five foot ten. The truck is about
two inches taller than I am, and this thing was
easily like maybe seven feet. And as I'm past it,
I look in my mirror and I see it bolt
to the left into the woods, and it looked like
(19:01):
I don't even know what the hell because it had
it looked like somebody who took a normal human and
stretched them out, starting with the lens. It like abnormally
long legs and arms, and it just took off into
the woods and I just I just said, nope, I'm
out of here. I'm not staying to figure.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Out what this is.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
And there's a gas station all the way at the
corner where the highway intersects, and I pulled into that
gas station. I was doing like ninety all the way
to that gas station because that was the only place
with any light. And I just stopped in that parking
lot and waited like ten to fifteen minutes for state
troopers to show up.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
After watching the interview and listening to the nine to
one one recording, I personally believe that the creature that's
being described sounds similar to a pale crawler or what
some people have referred to as the Rake. However, as
I mentioned in the previous EPI epis, the Rake was
allegedly created as a creepy pasta, but throughout history, there
have been sightings of similar looking entities that people have
(20:08):
claimed to encounter, some of which I have highlighted in
previous episodes. Now, some viewers have speculated that what the
eyewitness saw was actually some type of alien, while others
are positive that it was a skin walker. To be honest,
I truly have no idea, but I'm very curious to
hear what you think this could have been. As I
(20:28):
said in the intro, maybe someone listening has seen one
for themselves, and if so, I would love to hear
about your experience. And please don't forget the check out
Carolina case Files on YouTube and watch the entire interview.
They did an outstanding job of bringing this encounter forward,
and they also have a follow up video that they
recently posted where they play the nine one one audio
(20:49):
while driving the exact same route that Tea did. It's fascinating,
and again, you can find links to both of these
videos in the show notes. I hope you enjoyed tonight's
