Speaker 1 (00:05):
This episode is brought to you by my newest supporters Janice,
pug Life eight to eight and Kimberlay. Thank you so
much for making the show possible. Shadow People. For many experiencers,
(00:50):
these entities invoke an unimaginable fear that rivals almost any
other type of unexplained phenomena. In fact, since I began
the show in twenty seventeen, the topic of shadow people
has been one of the most prevalent and terrifying types
of experiences that my listeners share with me. And although
most witnesses fully admit that they have no idea what
(01:11):
these things are or what their intentions might be, the
one thing that almost everyone agrees upon is that they
are malevolent in nature and seem to feed off the
dread that they conjure within us. In twenty eighteen episode
twenty six, which I called Shadow People and the hat Man,
I gave a brief introduction to these mysterious beings, which
(01:32):
I'll add a link to in the show notes. In
that episode, I talked about some of the common patterns
that people describe when encountering these entities, and I shared
a couple of experiences that I found interesting. As you
may remember I also mentioned that I too have had
a handful of experiences with similar entities. However, my encounters
are typically very brief and somewhat uneventful. For this reason,
(01:56):
I've never really shared my encounters with all of you,
but perhaps hearing my experiences will help someone else who's
dealing with similar phenomena. My experiences always seem to occur
just after I've fallen asleep, and then I suddenly wake
up to see a dark figure standing next to me.
Sometimes they appear to be leaning over and looking at me,
(02:18):
while other times they seem to remain still while standing
near the foot of my bed. More times than not,
I find myself having the reflex to punch or kick
at whatever it is, and this is typically the moment
when the vision or whatever you want to call it disappears. Now,
I've been told by many people that I sleep with
my eyes partially open. This is something that I've done
(02:40):
for as long as I can remember, and I've always
wondered if this is causing my brain to interpret naturally
occurring shapes and shadows in my room as something else.
Not that I'm trying to diminish the idea that shadow
people exist but more because I'm trying to separate out
the explainable from the unexplainable. From me personally, these experiences
(03:02):
are never all that terrifying. They're definitely unsettling and scary,
but I can't say that I've ever felt dread or
evil coming from whatever I'm seeing. It's always more of
just a feeling that there's an intruder in my house,
and I wake up ready to fight. After a few seconds, though,
the fear melts away once I realize that nothing tangible
(03:22):
is actually there, and that's when I usually just fall
back asleep again. Is it that my brain is creating
a scenario based on the fact that my eyes are
partially open, and thus creating a brief sort of night terror. Possibly,
but I really have no idea. I did have night
terrors as a small child, and I do remember seeing
(03:42):
faces coming out of the walls of my room, but
thankfully those experiences haven't occurred for many, many years. Like
I said, since episode twenty six aired, many of you
have also come forward with your own personal horror stories
involving these beings, and I'm always fascinated by how each
individual encounter can be so unique. But at the same
(04:03):
time so similar. This is one of the many reasons
that this phenomenon fascinates me, and I thought that we
were past due for another episode on the topic. To
begin tonight's episode, I'd like to share some experiences that
I've come across. Some of these reports were submitted by
my amazing listeners, while others come from different online forums
(04:23):
that I thought you'd find interesting. Toward the end of
the show, I'm going to play a bit of audio
where the original host of Coast to Coast, A. M
art Bell, shares his close encounter with a shadow person.
It's an experience that I've never heard before, and I
think you'll want to stick around to hear it for yourself. Again,
I appreciate each and every one of you for tuning
(04:44):
in tonight, and without further ado, I'd like to begin
with an experience that I found online by an anonymous
experiencer known only as MSF. Their experience is called House
of Shadows. I became aware of the shadows shortly after
moving into my house in New Jersey. My daughter's play
(05:06):
room was in the basement and they were constantly complaining
that they were always seeing something move out of the corner.
Of their eyes. My youngest also said that they hovered
near the ceiling. In later years, I had my floral
workshop in the basement, and I saw them constantly. It
got to the point where I would talk to them
with my mind, not that they ever answered back. They
(05:28):
were black. We saw them all over the basement, but
mostly along one wall, and we occasionally saw them on
that same wall, but on the first floor and in
the kitchen near the back door. We did not see
them anywhere else in the house or elsewhere on the property.
But even when we did not get a glimpse of them,
we were always aware when they were present. Some of
(05:49):
them seemed to have an evil presence. A few years
after we moved in, I told them that they were
not welcome in the house, and the evil presence seemed
to go away. Still we all had an uneasy feeling
about them. It wasn't fear. We just accepted that they
were there, as several steps taken over the years to
make them go away didn't work anyway. Only once, after
(06:13):
the evil ones were told they were not welcome, was
I aware that they came back. I'm really not sure
if they were actually evil or just upset, which I
will explain later. Only once did I see one clearly,
but it happened in a split second, and I didn't
see it from top to bottom. I was walking through
the breakfast room in the kitchen. The kitchen light was
(06:34):
on in the corner. It was by the back door
in front of the stove. I was startled. I thought
someone had come into the house, but the light behind
it did not pass through it as it would as shadow.
It was short and stocky and appeared as a silhouette
of a person. It had a head, shoulders, arms, and
even a torso, but there were no discernible features, including
(06:56):
no eyes. It disappeared too fast for me to take
no if it had legs or feet. I sensed it
was as surprised as I was, and it did not
intend to be seen. Then our house caught fire. It
was a major fire that started from a shorted TV
along the wall of shadows in the den. We were
out of the house for six months while it was repaired.
(07:19):
About a week after the fire, I stopped by right
before dark to pick up a few things. As I
came onto the back porch and looked through the six
foot hole where the picture window once was I looked
across the breakfast room at the basement doorway. I then
sensed three shadows near the doorway. It was almost dark outside,
so I did not actually see them. I also got
(07:40):
a very bad feeling about them, and I told them
by thought that the evil ones were still not welcome
in the house, whether I was there or not. Then
I turned to the left without entering the house. I
was quite rattled. Whether I had this feeling because I
was also emotionally upset about the fire, I cannot say.
The next day I went back, and it seemed that
(08:02):
the house was full of shadows, although I only caught
a glimpse of them as usual as they were fleeing
to the basement. It was the only time that I
ever sensed that they were trying to communicate. It seemed
as though they were upset that we were not there
because the house was all black, there was no light
for them in the kitchen, and there were strangers in
the house the workers every day. A few weeks later,
(08:26):
burglars tried to steal the new appliances for the house,
but everything was left in the kitchen by the back door.
My daughters and I joked that they met up with
the shadows and were scared off. This next experience comes
to us from one of my listeners named Alexa, and
Alexa's experience is called Shadow in the Hall. Hello Nick.
(08:53):
First off, I just want to thank you for creating
this place where people can share their experiences. I have
been listening to your Poteat cast for a couple of
years now and no experiences disappoint I am thirteen years
old now, but this happened when I was about eight
years old, and it was the summer of twenty nineteen
in Montana. At the time, my father was living with
(09:14):
his girlfriend and I shared a room with one of
her daughters and my younger sister. Her home is a
three bedroom apartment that had two rooms down a short hallway,
and one of these was mine. The room that this
event took place in was the first room on the right.
The set up of this room was a triple bunk
bed in the far left corner and a white chair
that was close to the door in the left close corner.
(09:37):
I had my door open during this experience. At the time,
me and my younger sister had gotten into a fight,
so I went to my room to calm myself. Down
I usually draw, So I was sitting in my room drawing.
As I was drawing, I was sitting in the white
chair that I described earlier, and out of nowhere, the
led lights I had on my bed kept flickering. I
(10:00):
then got up and shut them off, thinking that it
was because of the outlet. After that, I went and
sat back down, continuing to draw. Shortly after I sat
back down, I looked out my door and I saw
a shadow that looked like my dad's walking near the
end of the hall. So I called out, Hey Dad,
but there was no answer. So again I said hey Dad,
(10:23):
but still nothing. After a few more seconds of waiting
for an answer, I poked my head out the doorway
and there was no one standing there. So I thought
to myself, Oh, my eyes were probably playing tricks on me.
But lo and behold. I turned around, and right before
my eyes, the same shadow was still standing there. I
started freaking out, and I slammed my door shut and
(10:46):
I hid in my bed and turned on the TV.
Please keep in mind that poltergeist activity had been seen
in that house before the cabinets would open and things
would be ripped off the wall and thrown at my
father in their room. Our next experience comes to us
(11:06):
from Chris, and Chris says hello Nick, as an ENVID
listener of your show, I would first of all like
to congratulate and thank you for sharing this podcast to
those of us who share the same interests. I am
from a small but old town in England called Wednesbury.
It has its fair share of history and tales, as
well as being mentioned in the Domesday Book. It all
(11:30):
began on a school night when I was fourteen years old.
I had a curfew and had to be home by
ten pm. I had two choices. Either I walked around
the park and be late, or walk through the park
to get home just in time. Being a fourteen year
old boy, I decided to go through the park. The
park had a play area and then a field behind
it leading up to the main road. It was also
(11:52):
about one hundred meters wide, with a forested area on
one side and a cemetery on the other. I decided
to walk through the middle of the field, not because
of ghosts, but just in case people were lurking in
the bushes waiting to jump out and beat me up.
I had walked through the park without a problem and
I was around a quarter of the way through the
field when I noticed a shadow behind me. I was
(12:15):
constantly looking around to make sure that no one could
run over and ambush me, even though it was night time.
This figure was black. If I had to give details,
I would say that he was wearing a pointed hat
and a cloak. I say that because of his apparent
height and build. I did a double take after he
had been behind me for what seemed like minutes but
(12:36):
was probably only thirty seconds, but he had disappeared. He
couldn't have possibly ran fifty meters in either direction to
hide within a blink of an eye. But needless to
say that, I ran home and was terrified, to the
point that I had to sleep with the light on
for about a week or two afterwards. Later, my dad
assured me that it was just the moon casting a
shadow through the trees and making it look like a person.
(13:00):
This seemed to be a legitimate reason, and so I
believed it for years. Sixteen years had passed since my experience,
and I had buried it, not telling many people about
it until I heard of a similar experience. As I
was getting married in a church, I had to attend
six Sunday services in order to be allowed to use
the church for the wedding. My wife enjoyed it so
(13:22):
much that she carried on going every Sunday afterwards. A
friend that she had made had told her about a
shadow figure wearing a hat and a cloak, and she
had on occasion seen it in her house. When she
researched where she lived, she found out that a track
road ran through where her house is, and it ran
through that very field where I saw it as well.

right back after these brief messages. Many of you are
likely familiar with the television show The Dead Files and
psychic medium Amy Allen. In season eleven, episode three of
(14:33):
The Dead Files, called the visitors. Amy refers to the
shadow people as aliens or extraterrestrial beings.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Now.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Up until this point, I had never heard of anyone
refer to shadow people as aliens, as many theorists tend
to label them as some kind of evil spirit or
even interdimensional beings. I've also heard Amy say that there's
no way to get rid of shadow people, which would
make sense if they're not actually some type of spiritual
and end for me, though, this makes the idea of
(15:03):
shadow people even more frightening. In September of twenty twelve,
Amy was interviewed by Dead Central and she discussed some
of her experiences growing up. One of the first encounters
that she mentioned involved shadow people, and I'd like to
read a portion of her experience for you now. The
first memory that I have of dealing with the paranormal
(15:24):
was when I was four years old and I had
encountered shadow people. I really thought they were my friends.
They came every night and I would see them on
the walls. It was actually a male and a female presence.
They were really friendly and nice. We were friends for
a long period of time, and eventually they asked me
to go with them. They then told me to bite
(15:46):
the electrical cord on my humidifier, which I did and
was electrocuted. After that, I realized, obviously they weren't good,
and that's kind of when they got scary. They would
peel off the wall and stare at me me, or
they would scream at me. It was a very traumatizing experience,
not only because there were shadow people and they were
(16:06):
negative and tried to kill me, but also because I
really thought they were my friends. They betrayed me in
the utmost manner by trying to inflict harm upon me.
Amy's experience isn't the first time that I've heard of
shadow people trying to get children to go with them,
and this next experience from one of my listeners named
Lauri is just such a case. Laurie says, Hello, Nick,
(16:32):
I hope you are well. I live in Arizona, but
I'm originally from Long Island, New York. The house I
grew up in is close to an Indian reservation. I
am an EmPATH and a raiki master with a number
of paranormal experiences. The first experience I can remember, I
believe occurred when I was between the age of five
to eight years old. I woke up to two shadow
(16:53):
figures in my room in the middle of the night.
I couldn't make out any features, but one figure was
taller than the other. They asked me for my hands,
but I told them I didn't have hands. I told
them this because I was afraid to go with them.
They then left my room and I never saw them again.
The house I grew up in always made me feel
(17:14):
uneasy and afraid, and the hallway leading to the bedrooms
always looked dark and ominous to me, and it made
me uneasy. I was always afraid to go into the basement.
I never saw anything, but it was very heavy feeling
and dark. This next experience comes to us from Remy,
(17:36):
and Remy's experience is called shadow Man in My Doorway.
He Nick, I have been listening to your podcast since
twenty twenty and recently have gone all the way back
to the beginning to listen. Upon coming across episode one
twenty seven, where my story was aired, I realized that
I emitted quite a few details in my sixteen year
(17:58):
old state of writing. Here is a more detailed version
of that story if you would like to hear it again,
as well as a story from my mom up until
I was about fifteen, maybe having just turned sixteen. I
had seen multiple shadow people since I was a kid,
and have been interested in the paranormal and supernatural my
whole life. The first one I saw I must have
(18:19):
been maybe nine years old and was at a friend's
birthday party. Even now, I can still remember it so clearly.
We had all been running through the sprinklers in our swimsuits.
After we were done, we all waited in line to
go into the bathroom to change. I was the last
one in line, so there was nobody else in the
hallway after I had gone into the bathroom. After I
(18:40):
came back out, there was a shadow of a tall
woman on the wall. She was much taller than me,
and her silhouette showed that her hair was tied up
in a bun on the top of her head, and
it looked as though she was wearing a skirt. My
hair was down and I was wearing pants. The only
light was in front of me, coming from the open
doorway in the bathroom. The bedrooms in the hall behind
(19:01):
me had their doors closed and the lights were off.
There was no possible way the shadow was mine. I
then remembered my friend telling me stories of ghosts and
paranormal activities that she'd witnessed in that house. So I
got very scared, and I ran down the hallway into
the game room where everyone else was. I tried to
tell everyone that I had just seen a ghost, but
(19:23):
no one answered me. I thought maybe they didn't hear me,
or were choosing to ignore me, so I repeated myself. Still,
it was as if they didn't hear me at all,
even though I spoke at a normal volume and there
wasn't much background noise from the others. I know that
if I had heard another kid say something like that,
it would have spooked me, or I at least would
have been interested. The complete lack of reaction from any
(19:46):
of my friends was almost as disturbing as the shadow
woman herself. Later I asked my friend's parents if their
older daughter had been home during that time, as I
was searching for any sort of normal explanation. How Ever,
they said that she had left before the party and
she had not been back home since a few years later,
(20:06):
when I was in middle school, my mom told me
of her experience with paranormal activity. When she was a kid.
She was at a sleepover with a few friends, and
they had all decided to play with the Ouiji board.
She joined in and the planchat started to move across
the board. I don't remember what the board said, or
if she even told me that it said anything at all.
(20:28):
While they played, the chandelier began to swing back and forth.
My mom and a few of the other girls decided
they had enough and they went to go to bed
while the others kept playing. Soon after this, there was
a huge, heavy scraping sound across the floor and a
bang against the bedroom door. My mom and her friends
tried to get out, but the door was stuck. They
(20:49):
began yelling for help, and they could hear the other
girls on the other side of the door struggling to
move whatever had slammed against the door out of the way. Eventually,
her friend's parents woke up and freed them from the room,
and this is when my mom discovered that it was
the piano bench that slid across the room and then
trap the girls in the bedroom. My last experience was
(21:12):
when I was between fourteen to fifteen, or maybe even sixteen.
It was a time in my life where I was
experiencing emotional turmoil, but I was not experiencing any sort
of condition that caused paranoia or hallucinations. I did not
use drugs or even alcohol. My cat liked to sleep
in my room more than anyone else's. We had a
(21:32):
special bond he didn't have with any other family members.
When he was in my room, he would often stare
into the same corner under my desk, and sometimes he
would even sit a foot or two away from that
corner and just stare. It freaked me out, so whenever
he did this, I'd put him out of my room.
He would then pot the door to be let back in,
(21:52):
just to go on and continue staring. Whenever he slept
in my room, my mom would sometimes wake up in
the middle of the night to go to the bathroom,
and on her way back she would crack my door
open to let him out. Every time my door was opened,
I would wake up between two thirty and three AM.
When I woke up, I would see that my door
was open and that something was standing in the doorway.
(22:16):
It was very tall and darker than the darkness surrounding it.
It had no features other than that I could tell
where its head and shoulders were. I don't remember if
I ever had the courage to look down to see
if I could see any legs. Its energy felt like
it was a man, and much more sinister than the
woman I had seen on the wall in my childhood.
(22:37):
This would happen a few times a week at first,
Then when I asked my mom to stop opening the door,
it happened a few times a month. I was so
afraid that all I could do was pull my covers
over my head and tuck the blankets in under me.
I would burrow a little hole so I could breathe,
and I would do my best to try to fall
back to sleep. There were a few times I tried
(22:59):
to check during the day to see if anything could
have cast a shadow, searching for a logical explanation, though
like I said earlier, it wasn't just a shadow. It
was pure darkness. There was a wrought iron cross further
down the hallway, but I couldn't see it from my doorway,
even with the door fully open. I could see the
doorway to my parents' bedroom with the door fully open,
(23:21):
but not when it was cracked like it was at night.
The doorway was also not as tall as the figure.
I told my brother about it after a few months,
and I asked him not to tell our parents. He
looked scared and asked me questions about it, and I
thought that that would be the end of the conversation. However,
he did end up telling my mom anyway, and she
(23:41):
looked very concerned when she asked me about it. I
told her about what I had been seeing and that
that was why I didn't like it. When she opened
my door. She then told me that I should talk
to my therapist about it, which I did, and my
therapist then asked me if I was religiously confused. I
said not really, and while I had been raised Christian,
(24:02):
I knew that I did not believe in God. She
then suggested that even if I didn't believe, to try
to invoke the name of Jesus Christ. I personally thought
this was silly, but I was willing to try anything
at that point.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Well.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
The next time that I saw the shadow, I closed
my eyes and I set out loud, in the name
of Jesus Christ, leave me alone. When I opened my
eyes to check it was still there, I told my
brother again that I was still seeing it even after
doing what my therapist said, and together we dived into
the internet in search of a remedy to my problem.
(24:38):
After looking through a few suggestions, I remember seeing one
about making light of the fear or trying to find
humor in it. We tried to think of ways to
make it funny, which was difficult because it was so
scary to both of us, even if my brother wasn't
actually seeing it. At the time, the phrase oo wu
was prevalent within internet culture, and we both thought it
(24:59):
was ridiculous. So, because I had referred to this entity
as Hallway man, my brother suggested that we merge the
two phrases and call it who woo Man. I have
not seen it since then. At the end of your podcasts,
you always say, don't wait for the unknown to come
to you, get out there and find it. Well, I'm
(25:20):
on my way there and I will keep you updated.
Stay safe, Remy. As promised, I'll now be playing a
portion of an interview between Art Bell and David Weatherley.
The interview aired on September sixteenth, twenty fifteen, on Art
Bell's radio show Midnight in the Desert. As I'm sure
(25:42):
many of you know, Art Bell was an American broadcaster
and author. He was the founder and the original host
of the paranormal themed radio program Coast to Coast AAM.
In two thousand and three, Belle partially retired from Coast
to Coast AAM, but during the following four years he
hosted the show for many weekends. He then announced his
(26:02):
retirement from weekend hosting in two thousand and seven, but
occasionally served as a guest host through twenty ten. He
then began a new nightly show called Art Bell's Dark Matter,
which aired for six weeks in twenty thirteen. In twenty fifteen,
he returned to radio with a new show titled Midnight
in the Desert, but later that same year, Art began
(26:24):
having what he referred to as security concerns at his
home in Perump, Nevada, and on December eleventh, twenty fifteen,
he made the hard decision to fully retire. Then, on
April thirteenth, twenty eighteen, Art Bell passed away at his
home in Nevada, leaving behind an amazing legacy as well
as a fan base that is still thriving to this day.
(26:48):
In his obituary, it was written, today, as Art Bell
begins his journey on the other side, we take solace
in the hope that he is now finding out all
the answers to the mysteries which he pursued for so
many nights with all of oz. The following audio clip
is quite lengthy, but I think you'll enjoy it as
much as I did, and I'll be back to say
(27:10):
farewell after it's finished. Art take it away.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
I've been a talk show host. I've been talking about
this kind of stuff all my adult life, but it
never happens to me. Save an experience with a couple
of unidentified flying objects, one very serious one, none of
this other stuff. I've never met these creatures, these animals,
these things that we talk about and wonder about on
(27:40):
the air until and I'm telling this mostly for David's benefit,
because they doubt he's ever heard it. Until about two
weeks or three weeks, two or three weeks before the show.
I was staying up late getting training. You have no
(28:01):
idea the hours I keep. It's awful. Actually, I rarely
get to sleep anymore before about five to six in
the morning, usually about six at any rate. I was
in training for that later hour. Turned out I needed
more training, by the way, and I was in my Hamschat,
(28:22):
my ham radio room. You've seen pictures. In fact, there's
a picture of that on my profile picture on Facebook.
And working on the computer. I've got a you know,
a fold Dusktop computer and a monitor in there, and
I was beginning to catch up on the world of
the paranormal, because that's about, you know, what I was
(28:44):
to plunge into again, working very late into the morning,
concentrating very hard. And so what I'm going to tell
you is the dead flat truth. And it is terrifying.
It may not sound terrifying to you because it you know,
it hasn't happened to you yet, or maybe it has.
(29:08):
I you know how we've talked in earlier programs about
how you can sense when somebody's watching you, or you're
being watched or something. I had that sense, and oh god,
I turned to my right and here is this human form.
(29:28):
It was not completely solid. I could see something behind it,
but it did have enough solidity, so I knew what
I was looking at. This wasn't, you know, a trick
of the eye. This wasn't a floater in the eye
or anything like that. A lot of people, I guess,
have that kind of problem. I don't see how you
(29:49):
could mistake it for what I saw because what I
saw was a being. It was a being. It looked
like a human. Now it had legs, it had a torso,
it had a head. The arms, I guess were at
the side and kind of mixed in with it. But
other than that, that's what it looked like. And as
(30:11):
I mentioned, I could see through it. Now this doesn't
I'm describing this to you, but it doesn't describe the
instant of terror. This was to my right. As I
sat on the desk, I looked over and I saw
this being and I just kind of jumped, and I
guess I was on a little bit of shock or
(30:33):
a lot of shock, I don't know. Anyway, it vanished,
it was gone, and I looked behind me. You know,
I just swve I've got a swivel chair. All my
chairs are made for a bad back, right, I've got
a swivel chair. I swiveled around, looked behind me, and
there it was. It was behind me, up against the
(30:54):
back wall, and I could again see a little bit
behind it, but it was pretty solid, still looking just
the same way, no real change, the same way, and
I was scared out of my wits. I came back
around and oh my god, it was on my left.
(31:16):
It was on my left, up against the wall, and
when it disappeared, it just went like that. It was
just gone, and then suddenly it was to my left,
up against the wall. I don't know any other words
to describe it except shadow person or shadow being or entity,
(31:36):
whatever in the hell it was. It scared me so
badly at that point that I ran out of the room.
You know, I've got a wife, I've got a daughter
in a room next to me, next to my handshack.
I ran in the back of the house to the closet.
I guess I shouldn't be talking about all of this anyway.
I went to where I keep a weapon and got it.
(32:00):
Probably a poor choice, but I'll tell you, the terror
was such that I was convinced that we had an
intruder in the house, that we had that something awful
was there. Whatever the hell it was, it was awful,
and so I went everywhere. I went everywhere in the house.
I went every room, I went out in the garage,
(32:21):
I went all over the place, surprised I didn't wake
my wife and found nothing. But when I tell you,
what I experienced was terror, I mean real terror, No
idea what I saw to this very day, no idea.
(32:41):
I remember doing a show many, many years ago on
shadow people. People said in pictures of you know, shadow
beings and hats and stuff like that. But you know,
to me at that point, it's something that we talk about.
It's something for a night's subject, and it kind of
snuck up on me slowly. I had never heard of
(33:03):
it before and certainly never experienced it until recently. So
there you have my kind of embarrassing description of what happened.
Now comes David Weatherley, thank Goodness, a paranormal investigator an author,
adventurer explorer. For over thirty five years, he has delved
(33:24):
into the world of the strange, investigating cases around the
country and around the world. He has written and lectured
on a diverse range of topics, including cryptozoology, ufology, hauntings,
and ancient mysteries. David has also studied shamanic and magic
magical traditions with elders from numerous cultures including Europe, Tibet,
(33:49):
Native American and Africa. He has been a guest on
a wide range of TV and radio programs, including Dreamland,
Over There with Whitley, featured in Watchers volume five. He
is the author of Black Eyed Children. Oh that's another
good one that has only come up recently, and a
(34:10):
book called Strange Intruders. So, David, welcome to Midnight in
the Desert.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
Good evening, Art, thanks for having me on this pleasure.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Yeah, good evening. So. I you know, I had to
delay things and change them around so that I had
you on the line when I went through that description,
and I wanted you to hear what I experienced, which
honest scared the hell out of me, David, it really
did it. It's hard to describe the kind of terror
(34:45):
that I felt.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Oh, no doubt, Art. And I tell you, over the years,
I have sat down with so many people and heard,
you know, countless variations of that same type of account.
And you know, often when I interview these people, uh,
it's like interviewing someone who's just went through a trauma,
or you a very frightening experience, and and they just radiate. Uh.
(35:12):
You know, I find that a lot of these people,
even recounting their experiences to me, if it's been you know,
a year or several years, sometimes when they go back
to that moment, they start becoming fearful again. Calling the experience.
It brings back not just the memory, but the emotional
(35:35):
state that occurs.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
The terror encounters. That's the word for it, us terror.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Yeah, there's there's there's no other word for it. And
I'll tell you I've heard some you know that we're
so frightening and over the top that you know, you
really sort of wonder how some of these people even
maintain their sanity long enough to push beyond this, because
(36:02):
there are some of these encounters that become physical and
that takes the fear factor up in many more levels.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
You sure would, I swear if it was a terrible
idea to get a gun, because if I had seen
this thing, i'd have fired. I don't and I wouldn't
have done a damn bit of good. Now that I
think back on it, I'm sure it wouldn't. I mean,
I'm sure a bullet would go through it, just like
a little bit of the light. Did you know, I
(36:30):
guess you're some kind of expert on these things? Well,
what the hell are they?
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Well? First of all, despite having you know, so many
years in the paranormal, I don't know that there's any
such thing as an expert in this field, you know,
I continue to investigate on. All I have are more
questions and the shadow people. Man, that's right there at
the top of things that we really we just don't
have enough answers. And one of the reasons that we
(36:59):
don't is because these shadow beings. First of all, they
go way back in history. You know. You can read
early medieval accounts of people encountering shadow or phantom monks
as they used to call them, and it would be
this black moving shadow for lack of a better.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Term, mind didn't move. I mean it moves from one
part of the room to the other. Uh, that's right,
but not there was no physical movement of legs or
anything like that.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
No, but you know, they almost move like shadows, you know,
just as if you you know, if the way a
shadow can suddenly move from one wall to other to
another of course, hand in front of a light and
projecting shadow and that jerky sudden movement where it looks like,
you know, is in one location and suddenly it's in another. Right,
And this is very common with these things. You know,
(37:53):
people will report these things. They're very commonly reported in
people's bedrooms late at night, and people will see these
things at the foot of the bed or across the room,
you know, just looking in.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
Their direction, and let me see if I can suddenly
get moves leon, let me see if I can get
you to understand this. I'm I'm a pretty rational person.
I'm actually kind of a skeptic with most things, frankly,
I am. But I'm telling you, David, this thing had form.
(38:29):
It was real. It was not some trick of shadow.
It was not some trick of something whispering across my eye.
It was real. On my right, it was real. It
was real behind me, it was real on my left.
This was a real something. And you know, I can
say these words and people who sit out there and go, yeah, right,
(38:52):
he saw something. No, I saw a shadow person or
what I would describe as a shadow person. And there's
absolutely no question about it. If people want to doubt it, fine,
doubted away. This thing was real, a real something, and
it was terrifying. Now that I've got that off my mind,
(39:14):
you know, I.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Hope, Well, I absolutely believe you, Art. And you know,
as I said, I've spoken to so many people who
were really in the same position that you are. Uh,
you know, they they weren't interested necessarily in anything, you know,
paranormal or strange. And you know, these weren't common topics
for them to sit and discuss. But suddenly, you know,
(39:37):
things something like this happens, and you know, in a heartbeat,
it takes someone from being a skeptic to suddenly realizing,
my god, I have experienced something that there is no
rational explanation for. Yeah, and it's that alone, you know,
(39:57):
really transforms someone emotional and mentally and every other way.
But you know, moving beyond the fear of the experience
is often what proves to be the most difficult thing
for people who have these encounters, because it is a
physical reality. And you know, just like you pointed out,
there's plenty of people who will jump up and down
(40:19):
and say, no, no, this is uh. You know, this
is a result of exhaustion or stress or you know,
it's a trick of the mind and all these various things.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
But I have one theory, David, can I run by you.
It's it's only a theory. It seems to me that
if you sit in front of a monitor for enough
hours and I had been there for a long time,
that your brain begins to be affected by the refresh
(40:52):
rate of that monitor whatever that is, and I'm I've
always kind of wondered would that allow you to see
something that you would otherwise not see. That's the best
I can do, because I was sitting in front of
the computer for a long time before this. And so
there is one theory.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
And that's a great theory. And one of the things
that we can sort of connect that to is that
you know, through the ages, tribal cultures use things to
alter their consciousness. And I'm not talking about hoosnonsn's or
drugs or anything like that, but they use things that
are repetitive, such as drumming, trans dancing. Things like this
(41:38):
is very good pointing to tribal beliefs raise the awareness
and alter the consciousness, which allows you to see things
that exist at a different vibratory levels. That's the easiest
way I can explain it in sort of simple terms.
And you know, a lot of people again will well
(42:00):
doubt things like this. But when we look at modern science,
quantum science is now saying, hey, we've figured out that
there are twelve other dimensions of it. Of you know,
twelve other dimensions. We don't know how to get there
or what's there, but we know they're there. Well, you know,
(42:21):
this was a grand announcement a few years ago by
a group of quantum scientists, and I had to kind
of chuckle when I read it, because I thought, you know,
salmon around the world have been talking about this for
ages and saying the same thing. You know, it's just
that it's framed within their spiritual magical traditions. But they
(42:42):
say the same thing. They say, Hey, there are other
levels of existence, other levels of reality that exists around
ours and intermingle with ours. We just don't have the
level of awareness to understand what's there and possibly interacting
with us.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
David, what brought you to this field to investigate this
kind of thing? Shadow people specifically?
Speaker 3 (43:05):
It just sort of blended in with, you know, my
interest in wide range of strange topics, and shadow people
just run consistently through almost everything. I mean, all right,
a few years ago they did a poll about, you know,
paranormal and supernatural topics, and they found that shadow people
(43:26):
are one of the most widely reported phenomena worldwide, worldwide.
And you find these things in conjunction with haunted sites.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Yeah, but I don't live.
Speaker 3 (43:39):
In all times everywhere.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Nothing haunted about where I live that I know of.
I've never had any other haunted like things happen before.
No rattling of chains in the midst of the night,
you know, nothing like that. So, you know, a lot
of years behind me without anything like this having happened.
(44:04):
You know, I've been racking my brain for what brought
it on? Why the rest of it? What could have been?
And I guess you're right. I guess these people are
these what would you call them?
Speaker 3 (44:18):
I call them entities. I don't know exactly what they are.
They always they mostly appear in human form. Occasionally you'll
hear reports of them being very small in stature, you know,
almost as childlike in size, But for the most part
they appear has adult humans in form.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
Yeah, that's what I had, all right. The first thought
that crossed Stephen Painter's five year old mind was that
someone had broken into the house in Bury, Great Manchester, England,
around nineteen eighty six. My mom took me to the
local estate eight to her friend's house. Painter said, I
(45:03):
believe that she had been burgled because her kitchen, her
entire kitchen was covered and I mean covered in black
hand prints, almost animal like. He didn't say anything about
the obvious black hand prince. Not until later I mentioned
the incident to my mother what I saw. She looked
(45:23):
at me and said, nothing. Nothing on the wall. Stephen,
he didn't know how that could be. The prince were there.
His mother's friend said she saw shadows and the image
of dark faces on the walls. His mother was immune.
There was nothing on the wall from her point of view.
From that point, dark images have followed Painter. The animal
(45:48):
like prince he saw when he was five have turned
into entities. I've seen a big black mass with red eyes.
Good Lord always at the door, he said, the hat
man always in the background, and typical shadow people, just
like our shadows on a sunny day. And you know what,
(46:10):
they are, like shadows on a sunny day, but of
more substance. I only relate to you what I saw,
of more substance than that. Welcome back, David. A little
story there when shadow people attack. So that's like the
next thing I want to get to. I always thought
that they were just sort of what's the right word,
(46:34):
I don't know, beings, if you will, or whatever they are.
That they didn't physically attack people. That takes it to
like a whole new level.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
It really does. And I'll tell you ark, you know,
all the years of interviewing people and so forth, one
of the weirdest and most frightening accounts I've heard was
from a gentleman who had a physical encounter with a
shadow being. And this fellow his name was John. He
(47:08):
he considered himself a religious person, but he had stopped
going to church. He was, you know, very focused on
his career. He started to notice some strange things in
his home he lived alone. He started seeing fleeting movement
out of this peripheral vision. Odd things started to happen,
(47:32):
you know, like a fork would go flying off the table,
little things around the home. And he continued to try
to dismiss it until he started seeing these shadow beings directly.
I mean he was directly looking at them, just like
(47:54):
your experience. They would be there one moment, the next
moment they had vanished. They would be in the part
of the room.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
Can I ask you a question, did they did they
show when he looked at them? Did they show any
movement at all of what appeared to be a human body.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
They He described them as being in human inform and
that they would sometimes move, you know, he would see
what appeared to be an arm moving. Sometimes they would
appear to bend forward as if they were looking at
him closer. But art this took a very frightening turn
(48:36):
when one night after work, John went out had some
food with a friend. He came home late. He says
that he walked in, he glanced at his mail. He
checked his email quickly, he went to his bedroom, kicked
the shoes off, and sat down on the side of
(48:57):
the bed. He had not turned the lights on because
there was light from outside that sort of shone into
the room, giving some illumination. He was sitting there looking
out the window when all of a sudden, he felt
what he described has a pair of hands grabbed his
ankles and yank. He was slammed down, face down onto
(49:23):
the floor, twisted onto his side with something holding his ankles,
and says that he what he describes seeing was a
black form under the bed with glowing red eyes pulling
his legs. He just, in a moment of panic, flailing around,
(49:50):
grabbed hold of a radiator. He had lived in an
older home, had those old fashioned radiators that you know,
literally have pipes running down into the floor, so it
was very sturdy, and he wrapped both arms around that
radiator and was kicking his legs and screaming and trying
(50:10):
to get loose from this thing.
Speaker 2 (50:15):
I absolutely get that part. I would be holding on
for dear life. And if my thing had had red eyes,
I probably wouldn't be here right now because it put
me in a state of terror. I really really hate you.
May not know we've never talked. Have we ever done
(50:35):
an interview data? That's right, okay, So one of my phobias,
one of my real fears is glowing red eyes. So
had my shadow person had red eyes, it would be
not me describing this to you right now, because I
would have had a heart attack and.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
Died right Well, John managed to you know, he somehow
fought through the fear enough to focus. I mean he
was in panic mode, don't get me wrong. All he
could think about was was getting loose from this thing.
Because he told me Art he said that he knew
(51:13):
if this thing drug him under the bed, that he
would just be gone. And he told me, he said, David,
I don't know what would have happened to me where
I would have been. You know what if anyone would
have found anything but he's just convinced that he just
would not be here anymore. And in his moment of
terror in crisis, he says that he started praying. You know,
(51:36):
he reverted back to his you know, his upbringing of
going to church every week, and that's what he resorted to.
And he just started screaming prayers at this thing, all
the while kicking and trying to get loose. And it
was you know, it's such a frightening encounter when you
(51:58):
listen to this man pouring his heart out and reliving
this terror, recounting this experience of this thing attempting to
drag him into some kind of void. And you know,
he ended up letting go of the radiator and grabbing
the night stand next to the bed, yanking out his
(52:21):
Bible and continuing to pray and started reading passages from
the Bible while fighting this thing. And somehow he got
loose from it, and you know, he says that he
jumped up, he went across the room. He's turning lights on,
he's streaming at his bed, you know, streaming at this
(52:42):
thing that he believes is still under there. And then
you know, his fear started to turn to anger because
of being victimized and he ended up, you know, kicking
against the bed and finally just shoving the bed aside.
And there's nothing there.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
I have, I guess one little additional detail that I
can say. I'm sorry to be talking about what I saw,
but maybe this means something and maybe it means nothing.
This thing did not move, uh And it seemed to
me when it was on my right that it just disappeared.
And as I swam, you know, swung around there it
was on the back wall. Then it was to my left,
(53:22):
and that's when I was just utterly freaking. But have
you have you ever seen when the starship Enterprise goes
into warp drive? Oh right, you know, well I had
just a little tiny bit of that. It wasn't a
full starship I was going into warp drive, but there
(53:42):
was a little bit of that in as it disappeared
the third time, you could see a little and that
that was it.
Speaker 3 (53:51):
Gone, as if it went through a portal.
Speaker 2 (53:57):
Well, you know, I don't know what went through. I
don't even know what it did, but I'm just telling
you that effect, if you can imagine that effect on
a kind of a minuscule level, that one on my
left when it left it headed would have been the
direction of the house going into the house from the
back of the house where my hamshack is, And there
(54:20):
was that little, tiny effect, not a big effect, a
little one. That's the only movement that I could even
imagine to describe otherwise, huh uh. Nothing.
Speaker 3 (54:32):
I've heard other people report similar things to that when
these shadow people leave, And now some people will say
that it looks like the shadow or the darkness gets
sucked into something suddenly.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
I guess it could be described that way.
Speaker 3 (54:50):
Right, And of course there are other accounts of these
things leaving by going into mirrors.
Speaker 2 (55:00):
Yeah, mirrors are interesting.
Speaker 3 (55:03):
They are, indeed, and you know, a mirror in a
dark room it kind of adds to the eeriness of
some of these encounters. You know, some cultures around the
world have a lot of things connected with mirrors and
believe that those are sometimes can be used as portals
(55:24):
or gateways into other realities.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
Essentially, of the shadow people's stories that you hear, how
many of them result in some sort of physical confrontation.
Speaker 3 (55:41):
There aren't a lot of accounts where the shadow people
make physical contact. Now, there are physical elements occasionally in
that you know, they will at times cause things to move,
and of course there are accounts where people will you know,
get really frightened and throw something which inevitably just goes
(56:01):
through these beings. So you know, the physical components, when
they do show up, as in John's account, tend to
be pretty frightening and pretty stunning. But fortunately there are
a very very small number of those at this point.
But I have to point out that reports of these
(56:23):
shadow beings continue to grow every year. There are more
and more encounters showing up across the spectrum.
Speaker 2 (56:33):
Do you want to venture a guess why these things?
Do you want to venture a guess why? You know?
Speaker 3 (56:38):
I think there's a number of things that contribute to that.
The paranormal in general, and I use that term very broadly.
You know, I'm old school. I started the stuff in
the seventies, and back then paranormal meant, you know, anything
outside the norm. So, you know, I think that it's
become such a part of pop culture now with all
(56:59):
the reality shows and movies and everything else, that people
have become one more open to discussing their experiences. And two,
there are more people looking. I mean, we have more
you know, ghost hunting teams and euphologists and cryptozoologists now
than we've ever had in history. You know, it's a
(57:21):
worldwide interest. So more and more people looking then, Yeah,
more and more things are going to be found, and
more reports are going to be registered.
Speaker 2 (57:29):
Yeah. Maybe, but it seems to me that looking for
a ghost, taking like a camera crew out and cutting
for a ghost has a very small chance of success
unless you're going to a place that has had lots
of really recent encounters and you know, is really a
hot zone or something. But hey, I'm seventy years old now, David,
(57:50):
this was my first, uh experience with anything like.
Speaker 3 (57:54):
This, right right? Well, you know, I mean has another
answer to your question. We could sort of go down
the rabbit hole and examine it in different ways because
you know, spiritual people shaman would tell you that the
planet's in a very different phase right now, so the
(58:16):
spiritual worlds are starting to come more in contact with
our level of reality. And you know, alongside of that,
we could also say, well, what's the human element, in
terms of our mental focus and our energy doing to
possibly co create some.
Speaker 2 (58:35):
Of these I don't know. Backup for me, David, you
said our planet is in a different lot.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
You know, everybody got hyped up a few years ago,
about twenty twelve, remember that, Yes, lots of craziness, and
everybody was proclaiming us that you know, the world's going
to end and blah blah blah. Well they tagged a
lot of this onto Mayan spiritual elders, claiming this because
the calendar was ending. But in reality, that's not what
(59:03):
those guys were saying. I've met with some of those elders,
and really what they were saying, and what a lot
of native elders around the world are saying, is that
the world is it's going through a transformation because culturally
and spiritually and politically and everything else, we're at a
lot of crisis points and it's all kind of coalescing
(59:25):
into a forced transformation. I mean, face, you look at
the nightly news and you know that there are a
lot of breaking points that are going to start showing up.
The world's going to start changing, and when you coincide
that with our personal viewpoint and experience of the world
around us, then that's bringing some different things to light.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
Okay, you said the planet had shifted in some way.
Say that again, please.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Well, you know tribal elders talk about moving into different worlds.
The whole reason that Mayd calendar ended was because a
cycle was ending, and it means that we're starting a
new cycle.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
I think that you've got tired of making calendars.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
So you know what they The way they interpret that
is that a spiritual cycle comes to an end, and
that when it comes to an end, we reach a
crisis point where a lot of things have to change.
You know, it's sort of a natural evolution. It's just
that they viewed it not just in terms of you know,
(01:00:44):
physical terms, politics and things like that, but also in
spiritual terms. So I know, we're kind of really getting
into the spiritual side of things, and some of this
is difficult to relate in short terms. I'm trying my best.
Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
I don't care where it goes, as long as I
learned something about these creatures. You know. I don't know
about being in a different you know, I know the
mind calendar ended. I don't know that we're in some
different spiritual realm right now that we've passed over some
magical date. And if we did, I'd like to know
(01:01:20):
what it was.
Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
Well, let me put it in different terms, so you know,
if we go back to this idea that quantum science
is talking about, the quote discovery of other dimensions of existence,
we can sort of correlate that with ancient spiritual teachings
that believe that we come to certain points in the
evolution of the world where it's easier for those levels
(01:01:45):
of existence to sort of cross over with each other,
that the veil gets thinner, so to speak, and when
that happens, there's more interaction with whatever dwells in those
other levels of reality, whatever dwells whatever dwells there. And
you know, you go back through history and you look
(01:02:07):
at a lot of these cultures and there's so many
legends of other beings that used to live here with us,
and at some point in the tribe's history they these
other beans leave, They go through a shimmering doorway or
you know, a hole in the mountain. There's various ways
it's described. And if we try to put that in
(01:02:30):
scientific terms and look at quantum science, we can say, well,
it sounds like whatever these things were, they used to
live here, they used to be here, and they left
through some kind of portal. So we're coming back around
to points. According to a lot of Shaman where it's
easier for these things to come back through and come
over here again.
Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
Portal is just a word. I mean, are you talking
about moving from one dimension into another or back and
forth between.
Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
That's correct, but it's so it's an entry point.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
I'm kind of realizing as the interview goes on that
I'm having a very hard time doing the interview because
I'm not objective about this. I wonder how I get
objective about this. You know, my experience drove objectivity from me.
That's that's how bad it is. You know, I'm so
(01:03:24):
wanting answers and you're not going to have them ultimately,
and so that's a little frustrating. But it's hard to
be objective David when when you you've had this experience and
I thought, boy, i'll have David on, He'll give me
the answers. I just can't be objective.
Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
I'm sorry to disappoint you.
Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
That's all right.
Speaker 3 (01:03:50):
You know, these these are things that people have been
looking for answers for for a very long time, and
it's just that, unfortunately, you know, for someone who's had
a frightening experience like you have, there's not anything that
is really going to I hate to say this, but
really completely sets you at ease with it because what
(01:04:13):
I find from interviewing people who've had these experience, there's
always this nagging fear in the back of their minds
that the thing is going to show up again or.
Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
Worse and get physical something like that, or that it
portends something or you know, who knows, except that it
scared me so badly, So who knows? Anyway, shadow people
have been around since when about.
Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
Oh gosh, you know, we can find reports hesitated earlier,
going back to the medieval period that talk about these
shadow monks are these phantom monks, and you find a
lot of common things with modern shadow people encounters. People
would say that these figures look like they had a
monk's robe and a hook on. There wouldn't be any
discernible features. Sometimes there would be glowing eyes, but they
(01:05:06):
would radiate this anger or this very you know, disturbing
creepiness about them. And you know, people consistently report that
these shadow beans appear to be observing them, and that's
one of the most unsettling things.
Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Well, that's what brought me to my first turn to
my right was I did feel something watching that's a
very interesting human ability to know when you're being watched.
Animals have it even better than we do. But but
you know, when you're being watched, you some trend there
it is and so yeah, okay, I want to ask this,
(01:05:47):
does having seen one of these things once make it
more likely that you will see it again?
Speaker 3 (01:05:59):
Well, I have to be honest with you, Yes it does.
Oh great, there I would say that the greater percentage
of people who encounter these things, yes, do see them
again at some point.
Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
Okay, of the stories that you're aware of and the
people you have talked to. Is there an effective I
don't know if defense is the right word. Uh, way,
a way to have these things be gone?
Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
There are things that you can do. Yes, Now, some
people get so terrified that they resort to, uh, you know,
sleeping with the lights on and so forth, because because
they have their experience in a completely darkened room. What's
interesting is that what often seems to be effective for
people is using music in the background.
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
Okay, you know what I hadn't said this. Let me
say it now so that everybody understands. In the room
in which I had this experience, I have a fan,
you know, a ceiling fan, and attached to that fan
are four sixty watt bulbs going to each corner of
the room. So this is a well lit room. Maybe
(01:07:26):
that helps everybody out there understand what the conditions were like.
But you know, for sixty watt bulbs, that produces plenty
of light, so no trick of shadow here, all right. Well,
so I was asking about defense.
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
Right, and you know, there as I started to say,
there are a handful of things. You know, a lot
of people tend to resort to their spiritual roots, and
you know, they will do things if they were raised,
like they'll start saying the Rosary again, things like this,
and a lot of people find that that works for them.
People who don't necessarily have that kind of spiritual foundation
(01:08:12):
try to find other ways to essentially disrupt whatever possibly
allows these things to come in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
So, yes, and has anything been proven to be effective?
Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
Well, you know what I've had a lot of success
with in giving people is having them play classical music
in the background. Now, there's some interesting studies that say that,
you know, classical music assists the brain, that it raises
your level of creativity and so forth, And it seems
to be that for a lot of people. This helps
(01:08:48):
sort of settle the mind so that these disturbing, more
disruptive things don't come in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
Well, that's going to be a problem for me. Not
a classical music fanatic at all. For me, it's rock okay,
all right. Are there any geographic areas in the world
where these kinds of things are more common.
Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
They're very common around locations that have a history of hauntings,
particularly older locations. There's something called the stone theory that
relates to hauntings, and we find that a lot of
times shadow people tend to show up around those locations too.
(01:09:41):
It's essentially an idea that things like limestone areas with
a lot of heavy quarts in the foundation and so
forth can either attract entities or make it easier for
things like this to come through, and has a resalt
a lot of locations, you know, you've got to Europe
(01:10:02):
and a lot of these older castles and so forth
that are are very haunted. There'll be shadow people reports,
all right.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
How about the.
Speaker 3 (01:10:12):
Other another factor that comes in art and let me
let me interruption and throw this in, is that places
that have heavy amounts of a heavy history of negative things,
you know, like old asylums, prisons, things like that. It's
very common to find shadow people reports around those types
(01:10:32):
of locations.
Speaker 2 (01:10:34):
Okay, I guess.
Speaker 3 (01:10:36):
I sort of getting into the emotional aspect with that.
You know, a lot of emotional trauma and so forth
seems to make it easier for these things to come in.
And you know, even on a small personal scale, I
find that a lot of the people that I've interviewed
who who you know, they don't live in a haunted location.
They don't you know, none of the other parameters fit.
(01:10:58):
But what is often found is that things are going
on in their lives that create high levels of stress
or trauma or you know, emotional turmoil. Those all seem
to be elements that help create these negative experiences.
Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
See, I'm trying to relate everything to myself. My home
life was great. I've got the best wife in the world,
a great daughter, so no stress. There there was stress,
I guess because I had this upcoming show. Sorry, I'm
trying to relate everything to myself. I'm trying to come
up with answers. And here's the other thing I meant
to ask you, David. It is look, shadow person is
(01:11:38):
just a phrase it's the one I came up with
when I saw this damn thing. I guess I should
be not saying damn thing, darn thing. I don't want
to make it angry, just in case, So it's just
a phrase. You know, maybe I could have said I
saw a ghost. I don't know. Shadow prisons seemed more
(01:12:03):
to fit what I saw. But you know, that's a
good question. Could it have been a ghost?
Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
It is? And I see where you're going with that,
and you know, it's really a good point because shadow
people shadow person has sort of become this catch all
phrase over the last ten years or so. And what
is most likely is that there are a lot of
different things that are being thrown into those categories because
(01:12:33):
there are variations. You know, some of them appear to
be very malevolent, like the account that I related earlier
with John. You know, this thing, whatever it was, was
really out to get him. Yes, but there are plenty
of other accounts of these things that there's no physical contact.
(01:12:54):
And while it's creepy and scary, these things almost appear
to just be observing. You know. People will report these
things manifesting in their room and they'll you know, suddenly
be leaning over the bed, as if they're trying to
get a good look at the person, and then they vanished.
So it seems that we have a lot of different
(01:13:18):
manifestations all thrown into one category. And honestly, you know,
we could go down a lot of different roads to say, hey,
this is what they probably are.
Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
I remember years ago interviewing people about shadow people, and
some of the callers said, you know what, I confronted
this being stared back at it, or talked to it,
or yelled at it or something, and it seemed startled. Now,
of course I had no experience like that, but that
was interesting, almost like this being was as startled as
(01:13:51):
the person that was scaring right.
Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
And you know, those accounts do show up too. It's
as if they think they're they're covertly spying on us
or something, but to be examined in turn is a
bit shocking to them.
Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
If they are of another dimensions, yeah, if they are
of another dimension, then maybe they're as shocked at popping
into this one as we are. To see them.
Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
Very possible, very possible. And you know, here's another possibility.
I mean, they they may be having some kind of
a fairly normal existence and seeing us and are just
as surprised wondering, you know what is that?
Speaker 2 (01:14:42):
Okay, anyway, not so many physical attacks. That's a much
smaller percentage, right.
Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
It's a very small percentage at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
Yes, that makes me feel so much better. How many
reports of those glowing red eyes?
Speaker 3 (01:14:59):
That is a pretty good percentage, probably, you know, from
the cases I've looked at, at least a third of
them report these things having glowing.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
On lucky me. The two thirds that don't have glowing
red eyes. Okay, Well, shadow people, I'm sure that's going
to be an ongoing subject. But I know that you
cover many more things.
Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
And that's such a great clip, and I really hope
you enjoyed hearing it. To me, it really seems like
Art was truly bothered by what he saw that night
in his Ham radio room. It also makes me wonder
if David Weatherley is onto something when he says these
entities could be from another dimension. To be honest, I
(01:15:43):
have yet to form an opinion on what these things are.
But what I'm truly interested in is what you have
to say about it. Maybe you've come in contact with
these beings yourself, or perhaps you know someone who has
If so, I hope you'll consider reaching out to me
to share your experience. As always, I hope you enjoyed
