time. Coffee here is fresh?Yeah, good, The water is springing.
That's right, springing. Life islife, sing hallelujah. Okay,
wont do it? Want we will? Right? How are you doing?
Good? Good, goody. Let'slet's catch up ketch up a ready.

(01:22):
You know, it seems like, you know, this is a really busy
season. We're coming into the middleof the year, kind of like middle
and then second here we go,then summertime, and then then then we're
off to the next year. Imean, it seems like the year is
going by fast. Time has definitelyflown. I think you know when you're
you're on not autopilot. I don'tlike to say that because I want to
be able to control right, right, right, what's happening and make sure

(01:46):
that you're present. But also, yes, we are on autopilot because that's
what we do. We take thekids to school, we get to work.
We gotta you know, clean,we gotta do all the stuff,
oh clean. All tell me aboutsprinkling times when we spring clean. I
mean honestly, especially where you havewe have like a some things coming up
and they're like, Okay, Igotta clean, I gotta clean. And

(02:07):
then you realize, my gosh,Lord forgive me for being such a slob.
But I'm just like, okay,I'll just But you know what,
though, it's always good to clean, clean, house, clean, you
know, your heart, to clean, your spirit, clean your soul.
You know, it's always good totake that time to spring clean. And
this week it was time for youknow, today I was doing a lot
of spring cleaning thoroughly. I loveit and pumped up. So yeah,

(02:34):
I love cleaning. To you.You find things You're like, oh did
I need this for a whole year? I haven't seen you, so should
I throw you away? But thenI need you again? So I'm going
to keep you ye have reunited, and here we are. I'm going to
keep it right there, keep itright there in the box where we're going
to keep it exactly where I foundit, you know. Anyway. Oh
friend, well, I'm so happybecause we have a great show. We

(02:54):
have a wonderful guest, a friendof mine, also fam We are excited
to interview jeral and Joy. Welcomeback to the show, everybody. Hi
lady, thank you for that warmwelcome. Yes, how are you?
How is your travels here? Youare from the Bay area, you are
in town. You are actually fromthe Bay back to LV and then back

(03:15):
to the Bay, but you're hopingto make it back because you are auditioning
for the one and Only RAID.I don't know the chance for them.
I'm like, I don't know. We're gonna learn today. How is your
travels here? And tell us aboutyour process and what is going on in

(03:36):
the Raider Red world. Yes,oh my gosh, well thank you for
having me. To be honest,I was a little nervous, but I
know your vibes are just everything rightnow. Love positive. I'm like,
it's going to be your travels aregood. I mean, it's getting warmer,
hair. It's mid April springtime.I'm loving the weather and I am

(03:58):
here. And what the process?Yeah, right now, process for you?
Right now? Like I know thatyou have a lot going on as
far as like choreography, memorization andjust being on let's take it even before
that, Yeah, what made youwant to Yeah? Oh, and then
go into the process correct. Yeah, inquiring minds want to know. We
all want to. Yes, soI want to try next? There you

(04:20):
go. You gotta dance already.Well, luckily, this is not my
first time auditioning. I have auditionedfor pro dance teams before. I was
actually a former forty nine ers goldRuss cheerleader. Okay, yeah, that
was definitely my dream. It wasamazing to reach that point. Prior to

(04:41):
that, I did a semi proteam, the San Jose SaberCats Saber Kittens.
They're they're not around anymore, butit was a nice little start.
I mean, you know, grewup dancing all my life and most recently
a dancer here in Vegas for theGolden Knights, the Vegas Golden Knights,
your first guy, So, Idon't know, dance is just a part

(05:01):
of me. I can't get getrid of it. I just it's it's
something I love to do. Andhere I am auditioning for another Vegas team,
the Las Vegas Raiders, right, and I don't know, just thinking
about it, I'm nervous. It'sa lot of feels. This is my
fourth time auditioning. I was evenhesitant to come on the show because I'm

(05:25):
like, I don't know Tony,Like I'm not on the team. I
don't always want to like put youknow, bad Jude, you out there
or anything like, I'm just gonnastay quiet, focus. But I know
a lot of women who might wantto do this. I would love to
help, you know, anyone dancers, young people and you know people my

(05:46):
age, which is a little onthe older and as a dancer, help
inspire. So if this helps somebodyelse, I'm happy. But just letting
you know now it's a nerve wreckingprocess. Let me credit you first before
you even talk about this process, because you already you said you shared some
of your accomplishments. You are aprofessional dancer, you have the hearts,
you have the passion. So eventhough this is maybe like several times that

(06:09):
you're trying, but you know whatthere is consistency. There's passion there,
so we want to hear all aboutthat, even though the process of that,
like come on, share, becauseyou know what, what you have
already is already inspiring. So comeon girls, here we go, let's
go, let's go. I meanyou're already submitted your audibunitation. You are
now on what round two? Yeah? So well, many teams have different

(06:32):
processes, and this year the Radourettesasked you to submit initial application was it
was very simple, so anybody couldhave. Actually over two thousand people submitted
an application just basic info name, you know, contact info. I received
an email, I watched a video. The Captain's showed a dance and it

(06:55):
was count by count and we hadto learn it on our own. Okay,
the recording or it's tough because Ijust set up. Well, my
boyfriend Victor actually recorded me and blesshis heart because he was just recording how
many like more than like fifty takes, you know, and yeah, yes,
he's alsome. We had speakers, you know, I had to play
the music. I rented up thelittle clubhouse in my apartment building, and

(07:19):
and we had to do lights likea broaden like our bedroom light I had
wondering light and did the all hairmake up. Oh, it's a full
package, and you practice the dance. You have to learn the dance finally
when you submit and you couldn't cut. You had to say an intro and
then you have to walk back anddo the dance less than a minute.

(07:39):
Y yeah, and you just keeptaking it until you get the right one.
But the hard part is you're tired, you know, after you do
like forty takes like oh my golike and it's it's nerve wracking. But
you submit it before the deadline, which is this past Friday, and now
I'm kind of on a waiting period. I will know Sunday, the twenty

(07:59):
first, if I make it tocallbacks, I don't know how many people
they're taking. And from callbacks, there's going to be a finals week throughout
that. There are multiple cuts, cuts after the interview, after a photo
shoot, after learning a second dance. Wow, so's it's a long process.
There is a finals process where it'sa showcase type situation and you perform

(08:24):
and then you find out that day. And it's a beautiful journey because you
push to your limits, your pushto uncomfortable, you know, situations,
and as a dancer and as aperformer period, you've got to be on
and it doesn't matter if you're ready, you got to stay ready, and
then you can't get ready. Yeah, you know you're gonna get cut.
As a former casting producer, Iremember those days where I was like,

(08:45):
well, you had all this timeto practice your lines, but it's not
because it's you know, it's notfair. It's right. Are you ready?
Are you prepared? You're built? You're either built or not built yet,
right, you want to show yourbest self, but it's hard because
of nerves, which is natural.Everybody gets nervous. And there are times
I'm like, okay, I giveup, just I don't want to do
this anymore. But you just haveto keep pushing through and just just give

(09:07):
it what you have can just hope, you know, for the best,
and I know it's hard. Itry to stay present. I try to
like, okay, just enjoy thisprocess, like because when I'm on the
team, that is what I lovethe most and I just want that so
much. Being on a team ofwomen's support of women who are become your
sisters, and then doing amazing eventslike going out in the community, inspiring

(09:30):
children, and it's living your passionof dancing and performing, like I just
feel my most self, Like Ifeel so alive when I'm doing that.
Well, even you and talking aboutit and explaining it, and you can
see the passion, you can feelthe heart that you want for them.
So I'm sure that all the otherteams that you were part of there,
they were so blessed to have you, and so we're just really I mean,

(09:52):
that's exciting. I mean, soI was I mentioned before I saw
like a reality show like the DallasCowboys. Do you feel like that kind
of same process? Is? Like, because they did like elimination? Is
it the same? Similar to me? So it is very similar. I
love the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Iwatch every single episode of that show.
And I was on while I wason the gold Rush forty nine ers,

(10:13):
so I can relate. It wasn'tas dramatic for me. I had a
really positive experience. Yeah, butit can be nerve wracking with the cuts,
with memorizing so many dances, withbeing on all the time. The
process can be very similar. Andluckily the Raiders organization is so amazing,

(10:35):
like the coaches, directors, They'reso supportive and uplifting and they really just
want to see you shine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know.
One thing I have to shout outto the Raiders because they are very involved
in the community as well. Ilove it that they just didn't come here
and just like I said, Okay, we're here, we're here, and
this this is who we are.No, they actually involved themselves with the
community, doing a lot of thingsfor the nonprofits. So thank you.

(11:01):
All right. My husband's a Buccaneersfan, but I'm like, oh,
I don't know why, but it'sokay. You know, I'm from San
Diego, so charges there. ButI'm like, hey, I'm here.
Where in Vegas is a team andso I'm really grateful. I'm really grateful
for them for doing I mean that'sexciting. Wow, my god. And
you know, when you're you're performing, I mean, I know there's times

(11:22):
that you may forget choreography or whatever, but how do you overcome that when
you're let's say you're in the secondcut or you're performing live, Like,
how do you overcome that? BecauseI you know, I know that from
experience, mess it up, butyou know, you got to keep going,
right, So what's the hardest thingwhen you're when you're on live.
Yeah, I just keep smiling.I used to have a timing issue where

(11:43):
I would rush, but I reallytry to think about the music and just
let the music guide me. Andyeah, it's it's all about it comes
all together, you know, themusic, the lights, the stage,
and I feel the vibes of thegirls next to me. We usually perform
in a group, and I know, I'm like, oh, if I'm
like off my arm, you know, if it's not straight enough or if
it's not at that clean position, then I got to like get there.

(12:07):
But I just got to keep smilingfor ten like I didn't mess up,
because sometimes you just keep dancing. They won't know if you mess up or
the girl next to you mess up. So yeah, you just you just
go hard even stronger, and justhit your moves even harder. Yeah,
so what's the next step for now? Like, let me give you a
callback. Where are you gonna We'reso based off of years past which I

(12:28):
was blessed enough to make finals forRaiders one year. Last year I made
semi finals. So if it's anythingsimilar, and you know, things change,
so you got to be flexible, right, you know, be ready
to change. But callbacks include abunch of girls dancing the choreography that we
learned. We may learn another piece, and performing in small groups. It

(12:50):
can be groups of three, groupsof five. Sometimes we're notified by email
if we made it past the nextround, then we're invited back and then
it's an interview. In the pastit was two people per interview, but
they really want to just get toknow you. On stage, there is
a small interview, football questions orsomething about yourself. We're lucky to have

(13:13):
Paula Abdul at the finals performance lastyear. Yeah. Yes, she was
a former Laker girl. Yeah, yes, she's a former Lakers girl.
Yes, I remember that. Butlike even them where she started to wear

(13:35):
she we always honor that. Imean the choreography, the creativity that she
brings. Oh my gosh, she'sgoing to be there at the final,
so she was there last year. They're going to have a surprise another special
guest. But yeah, there's apanel of judges that that judge you mostly
on your presence, you know, speaking ability, performance and well, you

(13:58):
know, we want to get toknow you too. As far as I
know. The interview process when you'reauditioning for things it could be on.
But they're also a teacher. Yes, so talk about your your day your
day job for now that you alsolove and are contributing to the community.
So you just love, you know, being a part of you know,
your your peeps, right. Yeah, I'm an educator, proud of it.

(14:22):
Currently an elementary school pe teacher. So shout out to all my students.
I make them run the miles amonth. And so it's in back
in the Bay Area in Silicon Valley. Yes, what's up Rawley Elementary.
Yeah, they're great kids. AndI've taught from TK. I've taught little

(14:43):
guys all the way up to highschool. I was a high school PEA
teacher at one point as well. But my grades right now t K through
fifth. We have almost foranger studentsin our school. I know every single
one of them. I'm on them. You know, I see you.
You better start running, you know. I make sure a lot of these
kids are in the house playing videogames. I don't know how, you

(15:03):
know. I remember having to dosuper laps and all that under a minute
or a mile under you know,it's like like ten minutes, right,
fifteen minutes, give me fifteen rightthere. No, but yeah, it's
important. But you know, whenyou make it to the radar ruts,
are you eventually going to make yourway back to LV? Is that the

(15:24):
goal? Yeah, that would bethe goal. I love the Bay Area,
That's where I grew up, that'swhere my family is from and everything.
But I lived here in Vegas foralmost six years and I miss it.
I just I love the vibes heretoo. And as a performer,
there's so many opportunities out here aswell. Yeah, So what else do

(15:46):
you do besides you know, dancing? I know you also do Polynesian Ye.
Shout out your group. Yes,shout out to directed by Julie,
a good friend of mine, andthey're an amazing group and always invite me
back to dance whenever I can, whenever I'm in town. And I do
a bunch of little gigwork on theside, a little bit of modeling,

(16:07):
a little bit of acting, alittle a little bit of this, a
little of that. Yeah, AndI also work for event companies. So
one great opportunity out of the fortynine ers is E two K. It's
a performance an entertainment company and wewe post a lot of events so recently
I got to help out with ProBowl, even some events for Super Bowl.

(16:29):
Yeah, different events. We justdid like a fundraising event, and
yeah, it's it's great. Ilove all my little side gigs and that's
what I love to do. Youknow, if there's anything about you,
it's it's organization and just details.I mean the things that you were listening
off. I'm like, I mean, we're talking about how life is life
from girls, right, you aredoing it all for the life of the

(16:51):
life. But you know what,I love it because you do it with
such passion. You can tell youeverything from the pe better start running like
you, better start coming that youdo like it was just you know,
it's such a blessing to even hearabout you and then to not even to
not give up because you said thisis like the fourth time or something like
that. Yeah, I'm shocked likethat, I'm still doing this. It

(17:14):
took me about I lost track alreadysix or seven times to actually make the
Fortyniner School Rush, but I justkept going. And I don't know,
when you're younger, you just havethis. You don't fear to fail,
you know, if you just gofor it. And I'm a Sagittarius and
I just saw mean like how sad, I just don't get any sleep and
I don't know, I just Ijust keep going, energize, you keep

(17:36):
going and going. You have to. I mean, if that's your dream,
you know you got to work worktoward it, and you know no
one else is going to do itfor you. Yeah. Yeah, And
if there's anybody out there that's,you know, interested in becoming a Rate
of Red or any any kind ofteam dancer, pro dancer, it does
take a lot of work. Anyyou know, you can TikTok all day,
but if you don't know an accountand your arms aren't straight like you

(17:57):
said or whatever, the koreyoger foreseethat. And the casting they do,
yes, account is different from aneight second count. Okay. It takes
a lot of training topers behind thescenes, you get it. Yeah,
and practice. I'm actually also aprogram director for Semaware. It's a company,

(18:17):
a small company that we started thathelps train dancers go pro because you
don't enough, right. So it'sbeen amazing even guiding women who are in
my position, and you know,I'm right there with them too. So
a bunch of our girls just madefinalists for gold Rush. So the forty
nine ers auditions are happening simultaneously, just like a lot of the NFL teams.

(18:38):
Yeah, and just encouraging other women, Like hey, I mentioned my
age, so I'm not afraid tosay it, but I am thirty six,
thirty seven this year, and I'vebeen the oldest in my dance scenes
that I've been in. And peopleare in shock, you know, because
I know life happens, people havekids. You don't look at people about

(18:59):
thank you, no reason, No, girl, I'm so blessed, you
know. Yeah, right, Iknow I'm older than you. Girl,
I'm like thirty six. I'm like, just yes, thank you, thank
you. Oh my gosh, it'shard because your body doesn't dance away you
two when you're twenty one. Iwas actually I did so you thinking can

(19:25):
dance. I auditioned for that showway back like season seven, like in
the beginning, and Nigel Litho Ialways remember this, but I wanted to
prove him wrong. He was like, you know, professional dancers, you
only have a small window when you'remaybe twenty one to twenty eight. That's
your small window you can like danceprofessionally. And I'm like really, and
you know, I see it herein Vegas, like, oh my gosh,

(19:45):
everybody at any age they're dancing, and so I believe in it,
especially as a Polynesian dancer too.You can dance when you're pregnant. You
can dance, right, you canlike yeah, when you're retired, I
could do too, guys. Butas so cheerleader that you kind of have
the time life right socity of whatthey require from you is a lot more.

(20:08):
So that's probably why. But youknow every drop that I can't,
well, yeah, but I lovethat you're proving them wrong. Girl.
Yeah, you send the total He'slike, you do. You're out there
and you're in it to win it, and I love that. You know,
I'm all in. I actually havesome information that my friend actually saying.
But the one thing that I wantto say that you already like,
I can tell that you already have. She said. The first sentence was

(20:29):
it's all about personal personality and presence. And that's automatically as we were even
just beginning here. I mean yourpresence, your personality. So you know
she'll have more and I know shehas she has. She actually put us
on the long hands. I'm gonnahave to send this to your friend who
was also a former reader. Shoutout to my sister Kim Helen. She's
a former reader at SO Approved.Okay, but you know, she's actually

(20:52):
just a phenomenal, phenomenal woman. She's one of our instructors FORSAKUI here in
Las Vegas, and every time theydo alumni stuff, she she is very
present with the radar Ats And I'mso glad that I just we're talking about
this today and I'm like, smallworld, I know, a rader.
I mean, I'm so glad thatshe's my friend too. But yes,
but she sent me some information thatI'm going to afford to you. But

(21:14):
definitely, the first sentence was personalityand presence, and that is something you
definitely definitely have anything. I mean, girl, hey, if you have
a positive attitude outlook and you canmess up on an account, but if
you can bounce come back from that, trust me. I think that goes
a longer away than you know. And I know what, Yeah, younger

(21:34):
people look up to the radar Atsand kind of connecting. As a teacher
too, I know, like Imake a huge impact on my students.
So as a radar At like andbeing a teacher, I can only see
the opportunity to help positively influence thenext generation. And today's you know title
is Football's Fabulous Females. You know, I know you're all about woman advocacy

(21:57):
and just really supporting other women, and I think that's what it is about,
you know, our show as well. It's like we want to be
able to captivate those that are doingand also giving that right. So it's
not just like me, me me, but it's also you you no,
And I love it that we camein here. We're talking about the auditions,
but to hear all the things thatyou are doing, I mean,
you are a professional in your ownright. You are an inspiration as well.

(22:21):
Just to hear your story. Soif anyone anyone of the one point
eight possible viewers that are watching, but those for anyone that's watching here,
I mean, I'm even inspired byjust hearing the story, and so I
can only tell that more people aregoing to just be more inspired by your
journey, your story, and itis not finished. The best is yet
to because once she makes a team, we're just going to talk about how

(22:45):
much more yes, and we're goingto try to do it, Benny,
You do the backflot, do thestandstill, and just do the sit down
right down, and then we goeat. We can rally. Rally is
like you take your hands together andyou love them like you have pom poms,

(23:07):
and you put one hand on yourhands and then one hand up above
your head and just okay, shakenthat other things stopping. I feel I
will do this right here because Iwell, listen, I know that there's

(23:29):
a lot of you know, stepsgoing to you know, toward this goal
in the stream of yours. Sowe pray for you. We're hoping that
you make it as far as youare going to go, and wherever that
is, we hope the best foryou. And we're going to invite you
back when you make it. Whenyou make it, and obviously you know
you have your students that are cheeringyou on. You have your family.

(23:52):
You know, we're very close knitfamily with your family as well, so
you know you have the support. All you need is just that the right
time and opportunity to show your youryour talent, and not because it's the
fourth time, but because you're readynow, it's ripe and ready. You
know what I mean to be heretoo. You also have family here.
I mentioned Julian and Ralph Telmnui. You know all these families that you have

(24:15):
here that are rallying behind you.I mean, we are so supportive.
I'm so excited to hear more newsabout this. So I mean the next
steps right yeah? Yeah, anythingelse that you're not doing charity or something
else? Oh, I forgot that. How long do we have? Right?

(24:36):
Well? One quote that I heardand for anyone auditioning, you know,
if this is not if you don'tmake it this time, it's just
not your time. It's just notnow, maybe not yet come. And
you know I was always encouraged byall the directors like just keep trying.
I think it's when it's meant tobe, when in God's time, Like
that's what will happen. And youknow the path is already set for you.

(24:56):
You just got to do your bestand you know, pray for the
best. Yeah. I always lovehow Jarlyn lights up the room because she
smiles after every sentence, because shecame around the corner when I first set
you with this smile. Yes,I literally just came from cleaning my housing.

(25:17):
You just made my day by nameright, thank you you know,
us women, we we tend tobe a little bit harsher on ourselves because
there's pressure in what we have todo, accomplish and those goals, timelines,
you know, whatever age we haveto be in this and that.
But at the end of the day, you can do whatever you want,
whenever you want, go for it. The age is nothing, is just

(25:41):
a number. You just have tobe twenty one and up right. But
yeah, other than that, there'sno limits. Yeah, I'm excited.
I'm excited for you to come backto Las Vegas because you will be a
ridaurette. We are going to speaklife into that. That's right, amongst
other things. Because you will alsobe coming back to do events such as

(26:02):
Pure Aloha coming up. Let's talkabout it with as we're gonna be gracing
that stage. It's coming up actuallythis week Thursday, Thursday, Friday,
Saturday and Sunday. But the groupsare performing, The Polynesian groups are going
to be performing on Saturday and SundaySunday. So Pure Aloha will be taking

(26:22):
place at the Silverton On Casino. So if you guys are interested in Pure
Aloha, check it out Friday,Saturday and Sunday. And also happening this
weekend is Reggae in the Desert.Yeah, I should say that. I

(26:45):
believe it's Friday and Saturday. Fridayand Saturday. Say so, lots of
stuff going on in the valley thisweekend. There are more things coming up
here April and May and June andyeah, June first is coming back.
Uh, but we're just going towait till maybe mate. Oh no,
right now, because I'm really excitedbecause a lot of people have been wanting

(27:07):
that to come back. I loveit that it's a mixed mix, and
it's going to be a mixed mix. You don't want to mix miss it.
You don't want to mix it.You don't want to miss it.
Oh well, I'm excited for you, my dear darling Joy in the same
room as you, brightening up theroom with your smile, your talent and
all of the things that you do. Thank you for sharing it. Yeah,

(27:29):
safe travels to you. If there'sanything that you can say one liner
to everybody else that is going tobe auditioning in the future or even currently
