nine nine nine. How was it for Unia?
Speaker 6 (01:51):
It was good, very very productive day for me.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Uh huh. They say that nine nine nine is the
port for endings and closings, soul contracts, not a posna
or over extended no longer identities or belief systems taposna
get rid of them, taposia agreements posna say goodbye. You know,
(02:19):
so it's been very intense for me. Let's ask our
guest who is a returney an alumna of on the DNA.
Would you like to introduce her again for those who

Speaker 6 (03:49):
Thank you so much for having me back. I miss
you both. Miss you. Yeah, it's been a real oil.
So how is my year so far?
Speaker 4 (04:02):
How was your yesterday?
Speaker 6 (04:03):
Your my nine nine nine yesterday? Okay, So yesterday was
so eventful. I actually went on a reception for the
USC Donor Recognition event. So, as you know, I'm an
alumni of USC School of Architecture and I got to
(04:26):
meet you know, it was a it was an event
for donors and you know, active alumni to meet with
the current students. And guess who I met. I met
four amazing Filipino American students who are studying architecture. So excited.
(04:47):
So I'm going to actually put that on my LinkedIn
later as well so you'll know more about it. But yeah,
I mean it was really very nice to see that.
You know, we are thriving globally, right so not just
in the Philippines but everywhere we go. And yeah, I'm
just so excited to have that experience yesterday.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
So that's how that's I feel like for.
Speaker 6 (05:15):
Every moment that I have, I just always want to
make sure that I engage outside of our community. And
I think I get a lot of satisfaction on doing that.
So what else did I do? Yeah? Pretty much. You know,
my day to day work is composed of just getting
(05:38):
making sure that I get my call, that my work
done on sustainability, preparing for my trainings, and also making
sure that I have project management opportunities that's coming my way.
Speaker 7 (05:56):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
Very nice, galinge, very productive power. Yes, And I want
to recognize Adele Ordinario, she's here, she's watching right now.
Adele and T shirt top in Night Power. It's just
message us, okay, and we're going to post the key
(06:17):
or code in the comments section after the show because
you know, it's very it's very engaging. The shirt itself,
is it garners a lot of attention, Miyah Noah alan shirt.
Speaker 6 (06:39):
I do remember when we started this, it was during
the pandemic, so I think slimmer, Yeah, you're ordering a
size Yeah, in a long It's a good journey. Even
now we get you know, reacts and possive you know,
(07:03):
reactions from them for other people seeing the shirt right right.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
So I thought before we continue our conversation, we usually
have cards here in the show. We probably didn't do
that during our time before during the pandemic. So I'd
like you to choose if you are open to this.
These are just wisdom cards. One is Soul's Journey, or
you can have the town detail every Day Miracles.
Speaker 6 (07:35):
Oh I love that one.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
We love this one, okay. So I'll have you choose.
Just pick a number that you want and I'll do that.
Here are the cards, okay, So any card or how
do I say it? Just give me a number from what?
Speaker 6 (07:52):
From one? From one to fifty four if one figure okay,
well one to fifty, one to fifty worse, number twenty
seven because October twenty seven is my birthday.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Okay. Do you want from the top or from the bottom.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
Let's do it from the top.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
From the top, okay.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
So a memorable nine nine nine because you know before
the Philippines number nine. It's a telephone nine nine nine
nine five zero, so you memorize before changing longer numbers.
(08:28):
So when they asked me, what's your phone number?
Speaker 6 (08:29):
Nine nine and nine five zero, Madel, Yeah, So I
love that number.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Nine nine nine nine five zero. Yeah, that's it. But
it's really just among the mistakes and the esoteric people
is really very very powerful opening. And the other thing
is when when we close our past, you know, when
(08:59):
we close certain things, new things open. Ethel you close
certain aspects, you know, certain chapters of your life, and
other chapters opened up for you. The bam, Yeah, So
what are the openings Buheim Ethel that you know they
(09:24):
call you a trail blazing leader, not they, you know
everybody whoever. That is the world of a climate conscious
consulting firm. So how is that for you? And how
is it opening new arenas for you?
Speaker 6 (09:41):
So you know, life is about adaptability right. Recently I
got interviewed for a virtual digital magazine for Filipino American
Chamber of Commerce in Greater Los Angeles and they ask me,
(10:01):
what's the one Filipino virtue that you believe in or
you you actually live with? And I said, adaptability Because
adaptability is actually being able to pivot yourself when you
need to be. You don't feel stuck, right, you cannot
feel stuck because there's always opportunity outside of it. And
(10:25):
thinking about you know, closing doors and open up opportunities
numerous times that's happened to me already, and it's not like,
you know, I mean I can really like, I can
name so many things, but just one thing that comes
(10:45):
to mind right now is the opportunity to actually be
part of an organization. And I know what I can do, right,
I know what impact that and make. And so for
them to turn me down on a role that they
(11:06):
said I'm not ready for and then I got the
you know, I got the opportunity to lead a Filipino
American organization for architects and engineers. So those are the
things that happened to you when when things don't really work.
(11:26):
And also during the pandemic, when I said like, okay,
I'm gonna uh do project management, construction management, and and
the outreach strategic outreache. Those were my three uh three
prong of services originally, and then I pivoted to sustainability
because I was really what do you call that? I
(11:49):
was really interested in how sustainability is affecting our world
in general and not just the buildings. So when I
came across the Envision Framework, which is part of the
which is a program that's provided by the Institute for
sustainable infrastructure. I got excited about it, you know, I
(12:12):
learned about it, and once I learned about it, it's like, yeah,
this is the right path that I want to do.
And since then, in addition to the other services that provide,
I also do now training training other people, other professionals
to learn about how it is to think about sustainability
(12:34):
not just in their profession, but you know, in all
aspects of their lives. So then I pivoted, and then
that's how I got to think about like, yeah, like
whatever I was doing before, it's kind of related to
being sustainable, right and all that. So it's kind of
(12:54):
like it's just all fitting it together. You did not
have any words for it before, and then now like
when it came together, like yeah, I mean that's what
I've been actually doing. So it's pretty exciting.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Interesting to see your card is really a match to
what you're talking about.
Speaker 6 (13:13):
Really, oh my god, if.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
If is ready to post it to to bring it,
we can, we can. It's uh, it's really fantastic how
these cards plugging swash.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
Yeah, yeah, I'm excited to see it.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Well, yeah, I'll just wait for let's just wait for
it to lose meanwhile, go ahead, meanwhile, let me look
at that. Can you read that at all?
Speaker 6 (13:52):
Yeah? The past is over. It cannot touch me now, no, it.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
Can, it can touch me. Not, it can't touch me. Yeah, yeah,
that was my Yeah, there's a flip to it. Flip side.
Speaker 6 (14:08):
Yeah, okay, what's the flip side?
Speaker 8 (14:10):
The flip side is all your past except its beauty
is gone and nothing is left but a blessing.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
That's what you were talking about. That's what you were
talking about. When I mean, at least that's what I'm
listening to. That's what I'm hearing.
Speaker 9 (14:32):
Now.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
You know, something closed and then's something opened.
Speaker 6 (14:37):
And whatever is even in work? Right? I mean like
people say, okay, so I got laid off from the
American Red Cross. I got laid so I got laid
of American Red Cross. But then another door opened to
me because one of my longtime friends from my architecture
(15:01):
profession just approach me and say, hey, I think you're
going to be good for this project, this work, Like,
why don't you do it? And that's how I became
a Member Services Manager for the Global Royal Institute of
Chartered Survey years and so then that opened me back
to being back in the built environment, which actually coaxed
(15:23):
me to go back to construction. My you know, my
original desire and my you know, like my passion. It's
in construction, in buildings, in you know, and just making
the world a better place by creating a sustainable place living.
(15:43):
Although I'm not exactly doing the actual designs of it,
I mean I actually am part. I'm a piece. I'm
a little piece of the puzzle that makes it work.
But even though if you're a little piece of the puzzle,
the puzzle won't work and it's not complete without you.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Right correct. Yeah, that's so true.
Speaker 6 (16:04):
Yeah, that's and so when I go just going further
on this, when I mentor a student or young professional,
I always say, don't feel sad or feel bad if
you get fired or laid off or whatever, because something
else is going to happen for you and you just
(16:24):
need to adapt to whatever that would be.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah, it's so perfect. How does it work for you?
Mia and card.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
It's sinking and you were talking about the portal earlier,
the bar that leads to the part of ethel also
about you know, leaving the past behind and moving forward.
Speaker 6 (16:46):
If it all relates together, you have personal right personal
professional laht.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
And what struck me as well you were talking about
about your architecture thing at you mentioned make the world
better place. So Mia has a project with her friends
and I'm not gonna say what it is, but part
of it is heal the world.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
Yeah, I like this yesterday.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Also, how uh there's in my real estate world. You know,
there's a real lem deal, the lemma about commissions. You're
not you know, we're having problems with with commissions, with
people are getting less uh instead of three percent. Yesterday,
(17:46):
I was able to get a deal that's giving five
percent and that happened yesterday. So you know, you just
have to look at the brighter side. And medicals do happen. Yeah, yeah,
for sure, for sure.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
And I really like that part of the car that
says all your past except its beauty. Yeah, it's beauty
is gone except it's beauty, and then nothing is left
but a blessing. So the challenge is for us to
look for the beauty and the blessing as that door
closes and then the cloa goodbye. So doors closing a
(18:26):
coaching I mean the coaches would announce, you know, outside
coach would say doors closing, like announciation and Dania and
everybody will have to run inside, you know, go to
their seats because it takes only like sixty seconds for
the for the door to the doors to remain open,
and all participants will have to be in it within
(18:48):
sixty seconds. But on my announcement doors closing, then you
have to make a decision. You have to run, you
have to go to your seats. Not the thing about that.
Sometimes life doesn't announced that the door is closing.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
No, just it just exactly it just it takes you.
It just takes you from behind right like just steps
you on the shoulder quickly and then it's gotte. And
then the main thing is how they respond to that
correct correct ye on your response, like what will we do? Right?
(19:24):
And then sometimes it also clouds you if a door
closes and then an opportunity comes in. Sometimes you dwell
so much in that door closing that you don't see
one of you. So I think once the door closes,
you just let it go, right, let it go, and
you know, and so you can accept.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Yeah, and there are many other doors that are open. Yeah,
so Madame windows, Madame portal open.
Speaker 6 (20:01):
Emergency exit, the emergency exit.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
Bottom a construction balag in my emergency exit.
Speaker 6 (20:16):
Always as it is always part of the construction become me.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Yeah, dad, contractor and my mom's an architect.
Speaker 10 (20:37):
Woe, oh wow, that's amazing, amazing, and it's really I'm
having a hard moment on when she said the exit mandatory.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
The exit is really part of it. I tell you
that my exit plants over exit or inject button.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Yeah, that's what my dad always says. When we enter
a room or anywhere, look for the exit.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
Right away, exactly. And even in events, right when you
have a meeting events, they always say, like in the beginning,
where the exit is, because you never know. You always
want to plan for it, but you also want to
plan for being spontaneous about it right, like being on
top of your shoe, you know, toes and see where
(21:33):
when it happens. Without knowing when it happens, you're able
to pivot right away.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
And sometimes we are the ones closing the doors on
some things, on a lot of things. It's not just
that life closes the doors on us sometimes or me
at least, you know, there are many instances when we
just have to say no and close the door on something.
Have you ever experienced that you just have to step up.
(22:03):
I'm closing the door on this. You've done thata? Oh yes, yeah,
have you done that?
Speaker 6 (22:10):
Yes, I'm learning to say no now. So definitely before
I'm like yes to everything that's out there. But then
now you learn to pre qualify it, right, And because
you you give so much to the world that sometimes
(22:31):
I always think about, like, oh I give If I
actually earn a dollar for every referral I make, then
I would be a milile right now. So it's like
for me, it's like, okay, time to like step back
and see what we can really do there, how would
benefit me as well? Right, So it's different when you're
(22:54):
doing it pro bono, you're doing it right out of
your own, you know way volunteering and giving yourself up
by giving back to the community or giving back to
your school or giving back to the professions. So there
are limits, right, but you know, if you are passionate
(23:16):
about something, then it's okay. But to a certain extent,
right like uh, just giving too much?
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Yeah, that's I agree with you at the part of
our pin I power. And even if you're not pinite,
even if you're you know, whatever, you're a woman or whatever,
your child. You're a man. Part of your power is
learning how to say how and when to say no.
And yes, you know, I used to be metro man,
(23:51):
not so okay with putting up boundaries, because say, my
idea was life is so big, you know are no,
life is limitless? No, why should I put up boundaries?
And then I learned that boundaries is not necessarily keeping
people out, but it could also mean engaging or accepting
(24:16):
our own limitations, because we do have limitations, like I
can't go there. You can come here as a Las Vegas.
You're in La that's your limitation. This virtual event that's
happening right now is limited in itself because it we're
not physically able to be with each other. So this
(24:37):
is a boundary by itself. In the zoom it is
a connector, but it's also a boundary that you know,
that's just as far as we can go. We can't
share the whole room with the world right and viewing
and adding on camera. So in the same way that
we're doing what you said at a you know, volunteering
(25:00):
giving to the world. Yeah, now I recognize the importance
of the boundary.
Speaker 6 (25:06):
And really the bottom line is about self care, right,
self care, putting yourself first, because you cannot give to
the world what you don't have that you keep on giving,
you know, right, you have to make sure that you
care for yourself first so that you have the strength
to give more to others.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
Yeah, that is so true. So before I want to
talk to you about the running that you're doing or
the walking that you're doing, we will take a break first.
Adding sponsor is a giver herself. See you see reality
buying a piece of lands Las Vegas, packing that motto
(25:50):
please stay with us all right?

(30:58):
of inside inside job, said g RC Grand Reunion.
Speaker 6 (31:08):
Yes, that was a fun many great memories, great memories, definitely, thought.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Was the chair person for you be Alung my Association
in America chairperson and Grand Reunion Vertuelve.
Speaker 6 (31:27):
I know. Remember that's another way that we pivoted. Right
For the longest time, the reunion was in person and
then suddenly pandemic happened, and people don't know what to do,
should we really do the reunion or not because we
can admit in person. So I remember that. Remember that
(31:49):
people were like booking a hotel, and when everybody learned
that we cannot really travel, that's when it actually we
had to like turn and pivot. And so for me,
I had an experience to doing a reunion with USC
virtually and I actually get to apply that right away
(32:14):
and pivot for the GRC in ours and it really worked.
It was fun, right yeah.
Speaker 5 (32:20):
And even advertising virtually was so much fun. There was
no character there as me at casino doing the advertising.
Speaker 6 (32:29):
Yes. Yeah, in Dylan Zoom, it's like a virtual experience.
You immerse yourself in the actual virtual thing. So I
think a lot of our attendees really enjoyed that very much.
There's so much offering, right, We had like videos, presentations,
(32:51):
and we had a president of the university being there
as well, so that was really fun.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
Yeah, it was fun. And now troll is a very
big thing, virtual gaming and all that. So the pandemic
closed many doors on us, so we pivoted. We opened
another door, the portal. Yes, we adopted, yeah, adapted.
Speaker 6 (33:14):
And we actually had global attendees too. Oh, yes, people
from of course the Philippines, Europe, you know, Australia. That
was really very good that we did that power.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Yes, se night Power is born of the pandemic. And
before we talked, we asked you to talk about the
five K that you're doing. L I just wanted to
say hello to roads Stepa.
Speaker 6 (33:44):
Do you know her, Yes, she's a very good friend
of mine. Also fellow PINNI power.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
Yes, Hi, Yes, and she's listening and see Doc Flora
Saison she's watching and of course Adele says, it's a
nice t shirt. Order Kana five Knadan tell us about
the five K title, uh pin to the sixtieth power
(34:15):
and tell us more ethel.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
So, I really appreciate that that that you actually gave
me a platform to share about my my five K
passion right now. So in the past, you know, I
started doing a five K in the early two thousand
(34:38):
and with the Revlon Walk and then you know, I
earned my first medal. You know, it was nothing really like.
So then over the years I kind of started like, oh,
maybe I'll just do it once a year, you know,
and I'm happy, like, oh I did my yearly five k.
And then the next thing, you know, I was like, oh, well,
(35:00):
what if I do it, like, you know, more often
than one year. And there was a time I made
a go to like, Okay, let's do it once a
month over one year. And then at one point, I
think during my birthday month a couple of years ago,
I said, okay, I'll do it once every week during
(35:21):
my birthday month. So I did that, and then by
the time I got my thirtieth medal, I said, okay,
I have thirty medals. Now what I'm gonna do next?
And I was thirty sixty and I said, okay, you
know something clicking me. It's like, why don't I make
(35:42):
my sixty five k's before I turned sixty. So that's
where the sixty by sixty goal that I had early
this year in twenty twenty five, when I made the
decision on that, because at first, you know, like how
you would do milestone birthday things, right, like you would
(36:04):
you know I did? You know, I did the air
you know, the balloon, hot air balloon when I turned forty.
And then I don't know what I did when I
was fifty, but I did something also unforgettable, didn't.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
You didn't you go to stonehengeh. When was that?
Speaker 6 (36:23):
That was a couple of years ago? Okaya, very recent,
but you know, of course I do something, right. But
then I said, for the sixty well, this is like
about ten years ago, so ago, when I turned sixty,
I'll do sky diving, and that seem right, Well, I'm
not anymore because I'm doing what I'm fifty by sixty, right,
(36:46):
But when I said, I was going to try to say, like,
the sky diving will only last you a couple of minutes, right,
and I know it's going to be exhilarating my daughter
and my daughter did it already to a pandemic. But
I'm thinking, like, well, I wanted to make it a journey,
our journey, so that the sixty eight will be will
(37:08):
make the most impact. And so that's what I did,
because it's a big you know, can you imagine on
the by the end of the twenty of twenty twenty four.
I was, I think at twenty nine, and then I
did something on in January of this year and that
put me on my thirtieth and it was like, oh,
I just mapped it out. I said, Okay, how many
(37:30):
how many can I really do? Can I really do thirty?
Until October? So I've been keeping on mapping out, mapping out,
and I said, it's doable, it's do well, we will
It's do able. And so along the way I've been encouraging.
What's great about this is along the way I've been
encouraging other people or other you know, women to walk
(37:53):
with me. Is not just a Pini or you know
our pin I grew, but actually my colleagues in the industry,
especially my other my other uh you know, other friends
in my network. I mean, they're just so excited to
have me. So even though they're like put they are
(38:13):
you know, like black or you know, Hispanic, they actually
you know, get excited about getting their pin EI power
shirt and and be part of that pin I Power
five K movement that kind of like just started. So
I'm really inspired what it has taken, what it has
(38:35):
actually how it has actually impacted others. Can I give
an example. So, uh, one of my friends, she's actually
a fellow USA alum, she had never done a five
k in her life because she has health problems so
(38:55):
well a hip problem, right, So then so she's been
kind to my five k walks just to be a cheerleader.
She doesn't, you know, do the five k. She would
just like, you know, start with us on the finish
start line and then welcome us back and cheer us
on at the finish line. And she got her pin
Eye Power shirt as well to be part of that excitement.
(39:19):
And then came like months later, she had her hip surgery,
and guess what is she doing now? She did her
first five k in February of this year and she
did it in less than one hour. It's actually like
(39:40):
so amazing because she's never done it before. And then
after her hip replacement she actually did it, and it's
just so amazing how she's so motival, she was so
motivited to do it that that she just keeps on
doing it now with me too. So that's that's kind
of like the impact that I'm I'm so overwhelmingly grateful
(40:03):
that I can do that for others with that with
just me doing my own passion, right, like, you know,
I'm doing this and other gets inspired to do it
with me. So the thrill of having that and then
reach your sixtieth by doing that and having other people
join you and like cheer you on, and I that
(40:26):
that makes it more of a greater milestone for me
than doing a skydiving desolutely.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
Yeah, I remember when you did your five k run
here under Safeness?
Speaker 6 (40:42):
Was that Las Vegas? What year was that? Yeah? You
want in twenty twenty three. We had a very nice
group photo, but it's like I couldn't find it and
I wanted to share that here.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
You can find it either. I'm looking.
Speaker 6 (40:58):
Yeah, I actually, oh you have my interview over there.
Oh yeah, it's I get that interview. That was actually
a five K that I did at the Lowest Lotus
Festival and Katie La Channel five was there and they
(41:22):
were going to cover the five k itself because it
was the first five K for that particular event, and
so I was just walking down and I just like, oh, hi,
and there they have their remcs, you know, just waiting
for something to happen. There. They're waiting for a story,
I think, And so I just said like, oh, I'm
doing my forty fourth. Yeah, I think I'm gonna I'm
(41:43):
doing my forty fourth or forty fifth five K and
or forty first five K, and I want to do
it towards my sixty so and I just passed them
by and then with the camera woman actually like after me,
It's like, would you like to do an interview? And
(42:03):
so that's how I got the interview that you saw
on the clip earlier, that was shown earlier. So that
was really fun. So, you know, just the excitement of
people learning that I'm doing sixty five gays. By the
time I turned sixty, other people are saying like, oh,
so that means like two years from now or three
years from I was like, no, it's in October.
Speaker 4 (42:24):
This is October October.
Speaker 6 (42:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
The reason why you couldn't join AMA in October twenty seven. Yeah, yeah,
twenty seven. So I'm glad firstly about thisl I'm glad
that you're not hiding your age when you say sixty
and you want to run sixty five ks. I'm glad
that you're proud of your age, as are of course,
(42:52):
you know.
Speaker 12 (42:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
And number two is that I did my first five
K with you that that's year that was my first.
Speaker 6 (43:04):
Was very memorable because that is actually the largest group
of Pinni power group that we actually did as a team.
I think there was over fourteen of us.
Speaker 4 (43:21):
Yeah, yeah, fourteen.
Speaker 6 (43:23):
Yeah. Going back to that Las Vegas and that was
really good because I went to Las Vegas for a
up reunion with my Kalaya and dormaids. Oh yeah. Then
I encouraged them like, oh, let's do a five k
before we do our reunion, and so everybody was up
for it. So I was really excited and everybody just
(43:45):
was on board with that. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (43:47):
I couldn't find a photo. Then we had lunch.
Speaker 6 (43:52):
Yeah, we had lunch.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
Oh yeah, that's me. Look for me.
Speaker 6 (44:00):
One exactly. I'm so glad you have that.
Speaker 4 (44:04):
Yeah, I found one.
Speaker 6 (44:06):
We had a power photo together like that was like
we were all on the stage and I was like
afraid that the stage will fall. There were so many
of us.
Speaker 4 (44:17):
I really like doing this. And then after that, Kamini John,
we would just do a lot of not officially a
five k in a marathon.
Speaker 6 (44:26):
Recently did one? Right?
Speaker 9 (44:29):
One?
Speaker 6 (44:29):
Recently? You did one recently or whether us vets?
Speaker 4 (44:34):
Yes, yes, yes, yes, that's that's very inspiring what you're
doing at them. It's a par I remember that you
had a knee problem. Oh yes, me, even with her
knee problem, she would just power through it.
Speaker 8 (44:49):
Power.
Speaker 5 (44:51):
I know.
Speaker 6 (44:52):
That knee problem was I think in twenty twenty three
or twenty twenty two, just my knee got inflamed and
I had I was that's the year that was doing
once a month, and I said, I cannot miss a
(45:13):
you know, a five k and so I actually did
it in Canada during that time, and I did it
in San Diego also during that time, but I powered through.
The worst was when I was in Canada because my
knee actually buckled the night before and so I just
(45:35):
put something on it right like that knee protection kind
of thing, and then it took me two hours, like
I literally just had to walk it like not even
I cannot walk it because I can't even like yeah,
And then everybody was cheering me on because I was
(45:56):
the last.
Speaker 4 (46:00):
I did.
Speaker 6 (46:00):
Some one of the volunteers also walk with me on
my last mile, just you know, like because they know that,
you know, I was injured, you know they I did
not tell anybody, but they can tell, right because it's
taking me so long to do it. But you're right
that I forgot all about that, that I did have
any search, you know, any problem, and I steal powered
(46:23):
through Yeah. St yeah, you know just the thing that
you know, even if you have some obstacles, you don't
let it stop you. So that's just a proof for
me that whatever comes your way, you can actually just
(46:43):
make it happen if you really put your mind into it. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (46:47):
So yeah, I'm so true. I'm very very inspiring, and
I'm a testament to you know, if you have someday
when if you're thinking of a high, you can't think
of benefits, think of me at.
Speaker 6 (47:09):
Oh that makes my heart so big right now, part.
Speaker 4 (47:12):
Of your part of your resume success. No certificate, certificate
of achievement.
Speaker 6 (47:20):
Thank you, thank you, thank you. And that's the priceless.
You can't put the price tag to that one, right
like that is like precious. You can't really you know,
quantify it. I mean as long as somebody says, I go,
you know what you did inspired me, you know, motivated me.
(47:43):
That was for me. That's a big thing.
Speaker 4 (47:47):
Your certificate certificate of achievement. Hello do and see secristy
Chili shout out to Massey and Vegas, Pinoy Vegas. That's
a new show. Oh yeah, right, watching right now, see Babababa,
(48:14):
good evening now. See Adel saying hi to Tita Emma Console.
See Tita Loose is saying hello Etel. Yeah yeah, Angelina
Tabuena is saying hello, Po mam athel Rubio, good morning.
Speaker 6 (48:33):
Good morning to you as well. Thank you for listening
in and watching.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
Yes, So anything else that you would like to share
with us to inspire our listeners.
Speaker 6 (48:46):
Yeah, so okay. So one of the things that I
also got excited about when I was doing this journey
is I would do it wherever my travel takes me.
So one time I attended a sustainability conference in London
and I said, okay, let me see if there's a
five K over there, and two and off there was.
(49:08):
It was held at the London Zoo area, and so
I did it. I'm it was my Uh when I arrived,
I was supposed to arrive two days before the date
so I can be prepared right, and then guess what
happens The flight got delayed and so I did my
(49:29):
five K with less than three hours sleep hardly uh,
you know, like very tired from the from the trip, right,
but I did it and I finished it, and so
things like that, And I told you about Canada and
you know being another citizens recently when I did UH
the five K for vets, that was in Arizona, Phoenix, Arizona.
(49:54):
So that's the exciting part of it, right. And so
leading up to my five k UH, one of the
things that I want to share is that my father
recently passed. He passed in May, and so for me,
everything was you know, focused on you know, mourning, grieving
(50:15):
with my family and also preparing for his last Hurrah,
like his memorial service and everything. So for me made June,
I went dark. I didn't do any five ks, I
did not work, so everything was just really down for me.
As you know, I'm a small business, and a small business,
(50:38):
if you don't put yourself out, you don't make money,
right like you know that MIA need the realtor in
the industry. So unlike if you're employed, even though you
take a break, you know, you come back and you
still earning salary. So that was really a big, you know,
a down moment for me. But you know, when I
(51:00):
when I started looking back and checking, like you know,
I asked my dad, you know, like you have this
thing conversation with yourself and you're putting your your dad
did that conversations like that, you know, what, what can
I do? I mean, how can I make this all happen?
And just like that, a spark came to me. It's like, well,
let's put you back on the five K trap again.
(51:24):
And so I did my first five K and after
that that period of morning evening and I just did it.
And you know, a friend of mine say like, hey,
do you want to do a five K with me?
And that just got me started again. And so then
from then I said, okay, I think I can still
(51:46):
do it, right, like, I just need to make sure
that I do it, like one five K every weekend
and then and then so now looking towards the goal
of being sixty, making sixty by the time it turned
sixty in October, I had to do some back to
(52:07):
back five K weekends and so that happened, and at
the back of my mind I was also worried about like,
oh my god, I hope my knee doesn't my knee
cooperates with me, it will get inflamed, right, and all
that so God is with me, my Dad is with me.
(52:27):
That it's not happening. It's I'm you know, I'm getting fitter,
much fitter than before, more fit because you know, I'm
doing it regularly. So for me, it's really a blessing
that I'm able to do it, you know, continuously now
and so leading up to the sixtyeth in October will
(52:50):
really materialize. So I'm on my last ten I shut down.
Speaker 4 (52:57):
Ten eight, you're on your what.
Speaker 6 (53:04):
Know, I did my fifty yet, so like yeah, so
ten more to go and I've already like you know,
Stephen Cobb said, you know, you have to always begin
with the end in mind, correct, right, So that's what
I did. I always do that thing I do, but
like in order for it to materialize what an envision,
(53:26):
I just put a date. Like I booked my October
twenty sixth five K that was a Sunday, and I
paid for it and I said, like, you know, join
me on this day because it's gonna be my sixtieth.
So that's how I'm playing all of these things together
to make it happen, because what you envision will come true.
Speaker 4 (53:47):
Of course, of course, So are you opening the invitation?
Speaker 6 (53:52):
To people or what, Yeah, I mean, I actually I'm
thankfully I have my immediate family and close friends that's
already signed up. So I think there's gonna be ten
of us at the at the five k itself. But
now I got it. You know. The thing sparked me
when you invited me to your radio show today that well,
(54:16):
maybe if people cannot join me in person, maybe they
can sign up on their own five ks in their
area on the twenty six and then also wear their
pin Eye Power shirt and then just take photos whatever.
But also I'm also open to like doing a five
(54:39):
k in your area, even though it's not the twenty six,
but just wear it and then post a picture with
it and then like, you know, hashtag me sixty by sixty,
hashtag pin Eyepower five k, you know, hashtag Ethle Rubio. Yeah.
I'm excited if that can happen. I'm like, I just
(55:01):
thought of it right now. Yeah yeah why not?
Speaker 4 (55:03):
No, no, you pivot you adapt adaptability. Yeah yeah, yeah,
very good. Thank you for Bitter Run.
Speaker 6 (55:21):
Run me.
Speaker 5 (55:22):
I just walk walk with us.
Speaker 6 (55:27):
Yeah, it's a three miles eight board and make sure
you get the finisher medal at the end. So that's
the goal. So I'm not just doing this. I go,
I do hiking and do it. My My real goal
(55:47):
is to collect sixty five Gay medals. So when I
did my thirtieth, I actually hang them on a Christmas tree.
My sixty medals. I'm thirty metal. So now I'm thinking,
when I accomplished my sixty, finish your metals? Will it
(56:09):
fit on my tree? So you'll see how my Christmas
tree looks like this?
Speaker 5 (56:18):
Uh, Christmas sixty, I'll.
Speaker 6 (56:26):
God be God. But I'm using a fake tree anyway.
So it's thirt yeer right. The branches are thirt year
and the twigs at thirty year, so but I probably
need the taller one this time.
Speaker 4 (56:40):
Yeah, okay, hey somebody there was there was a greeting,
Oh my goodness, Noela, Sorry, I can't couldn't find it anymore.
She said, she's you are her inspiration. I'm sorry I
couldn't find it anymore. But anyway, we're coming to a close,
and thank you so much for being here. Discuss mona
(57:02):
last reaction paper for me. You call me yes from making.
Speaker 6 (57:09):
Mid life matter.
Speaker 5 (57:10):
It's about time and you know aging time moves on
even if you don't.
Speaker 4 (57:18):
Oh, time moves on. What see you at the reaction paper?
Speaker 6 (57:26):
Very very good. Yeah, time moves on. Yeah even if
you don't, So you need to make the most of it. Ryeah, yeah,
will move with does both? She?
Speaker 11 (57:45):
Well?
Speaker 6 (57:45):
You try right, I mean we cannot say that we're
always on all the time. We have our down moments too,
but you know, accept it, right, like, don't fight it.
Accept it when you have your down moments and then
and then just snap out of it, right like it's
actually the bounce, your bounce back ability that makes you
(58:06):
really stronger and defines you. If it takes you a
year to do it, then you know, you you learn,
you know, you learn from your experiences. But as you
go along, anything that happens to you, you know, it's
just a way for like we said in the beginning,
it's an open opportunity to open other doors.
Speaker 4 (58:25):
Yay, perfect alrighty. So with that, thank you so much, Mia,
