Dawn Marie Perrier (00:01):
This is the EWN podcast network.

Tara (00:05):
Hi. I'm Tara from Plus Fitness with Tara. I'm a curvy,
fun body positive coach andpersonal trainer. I love
business and fitness. Do youhave the tools you need to be a
rock star in fitness?
A healthy love of yourself andhelp for me in sifting through
health news will do that. I'vegot fitness topics and, yes,
rock stars aren't born. They'rebred and experienced and fired.
Let's do this together.

(00:27):
Hello, and welcome to Plus Fitness with Tara, the podcast.
Today, I have the pleasure ofwelcoming guest, Dawn Marie
Perrier, on with me today. Andwe, had a podcast quite some
time ago, you know, really atleast time wise, but not so
spiritually wise. I connect withher as much as I can through her
sessions online and when I'mable to, connect in person with

(00:50):
her sessions on Sundays. So, sheis here.
She could tell you more aboutwhat she does and how she
connects with her clients andhow she helps us all. And I just
wanna say from a personal note,it is a pleasure to have you on
again and, just have someconversation about what's coming
up and maybe chat about thewinter solstice and just, you
know, what is what is, you know, going on with Dawn, and also

(01:12):
what can we, you know, lookforward to to connecting with
you? So how does that feel?

Dawn Marie Perrier (01:17):
That sounds and feels perfect, Tara. I'm so,
so happy to be here. I can'tbelieve it's been. Yeah. How how
long since the last podcast?
I think

Tara (01:27):
it's 3 years. For 3.

Dawn Marie Perrier (01:28):
Yeah. Yeah. Oh, my Lanta. Crazy. Crazy.
Crazy. Yeah. Well, the perfectsegue. I mean, it's that time of
year. It's a bit of a crazytime, and I it's it's cheeky.
I always find it's into Decemberthat my personal business, it

(01:48):
definitely picks up a little bitbecause amidst all of the the
chaos and the crazy, and that'snot not necessarily a bad thing.
It's just it's such a needed andwelcomed time to find some calm
and some presence and to reallyground down, which, you know,
for those people who have noidea what I do, that is a little

(02:10):
sneak peek into it is to justfind that, you know, that sense
of calm. So, yeah, things havedefinitely been picking up over
here, which is a great thing.

Tara (02:19):
Yeah. Yeah. So, Dawn, you still operate at the Lake Bunuk
Canoe Club, but every now andthen, you do a collaboration
with other people around towntoo. Right?

Dawn Marie Perrier (02:29):
Yeah. Harry Isaac being one of them. Yeah.
He's the local breath work. Yougot it.
Guru. He's absolutelyincredible. I know he does a lot
of events around the city aswell. Him and I are
collaborating for New Year's Dayevent, which we did last year
was the first one. It's our, like, liftoff event.

(02:51):
So it's half the consciousbreath work with Harry and then
half yoga nidra and soundhealing with me. And it's a real
a real juicy practice. So that'scoming up on the first. We're
really looking forward to it.But, yeah, I am still every
Sunday at Banuk Canoe Club.
That's been, gosh, like, 3, 4years now, which is amazing.

(03:15):
Yeah. So the yoga nidra, thesound healing, it's been going
strong, which, yeah, is is abeautiful thing.

Tara (03:22):
Yeah. I still have the first, coloring thing I did. I
put it on my fridge years ago.

Dawn Marie Perrier (03:28):
Oh, right. Yeah. Where, you

Tara (03:29):
know, where I still have it. I look at it so that I see
it every time I go down and makebreakfast because I'm like, yes.
I remember my first session verywell because I was just like, oh
my god. It was such an openingof the heart. And I was just,
like, crying the way home.
And I was just like, oh my god.I need

Dawn Marie Perrier (03:43):
to do this. Yes.

Tara (03:44):
And, you know, so, you know, yoga nidra, you can
explain a little bit more, butit is yogi sleep. You know, it
is it is

Dawn Marie Perrier (03:50):
Yogic sleep. Exactly. Yeah. So what I offer
is a blend, has the name,Harmanidra. It's a blend of the
sound healing, which I do mostlyat the end with crystal singing
bowls.
I've got some Koshi chimes, abig old symphonic gong. There's
all kinds of the the soundhealing, so the vibrational

(04:13):
medicine. But that comes afterthe yoga nidra, which you said
it, the the yogic sleeppractice, which is super
transformative on the surface. What it feels like is the best
nap of your life. Even if youare, you know, awake the whole
time, your body sleeps in a realdeep way, and and the nervous

(04:33):
system powers down in such acalm way that it brings up a
lot.
So you saying that you cried thewhole way home, you still
remember it, you have thatmemento on your fridge. I love
that, by the way. I'm notsurprised. But, you know, that's
really common that people justthey let go enough. They feel

(04:54):
safe enough, relaxed enough thateverything we store and we put
away or we bury down that's toobig, too heavy, we don't feel
equipped to handle it.
It can come up, you know, inyour body, in your heart, in
your mind during these sessions, and there's a release that that
happens. It's you know, I couldwaffle on about it forever. It's

(05:15):
a really beautiful, very healingpractice, and I find that the
sound at the end is really justlike this. I've been referring
it lately as, like, thisgardening process because during
the yoga nidra journey, there'sa lot of weeds that get pulled
out, but there's also a lot ofseeds that get planted. And the

(05:36):
sound at the end of oursessions, it's like soothing or
smoothing out the soil, youknow, putting some water on it.
There's that refreshingsunshine. It's that real, yes,
smoothing out at the end. It'sit's a great practice, and it's
evolved. Like you said, Iremember we used to, like there
was the option to colorsomething or draw a picture at

(05:58):
the end. It's it's shifted a lotin a few years, and it's still
it's still shifting, which Ilove.

Tara (06:04):
Yeah. And I have to you know, we can find Dawn online on
her on on her website, but Ijust wanna say the other thing
that I love is always yourplaylists.

Dawn Marie Perrier (06:13):
They're so crazily app. Yes.

Tara (06:16):
I'm just I'll come in. I remember the one about the home,
the house is a home thing, and Ijust remember saying I was like
and I had literally Shazam'd itso I would have it later. Like,
I was just like I sneakilypulled up my phone, and it was
like, I need to know this song.I need to hear it again. You
know what I mean?
Because I was just like, this isso and I've, you know, kept it
on my playlist. And every time Ithink

Dawn Marie Perrier (06:36):
of it, I am

Tara (06:37):
brought back to that session and to the calming
effect of the yoga nidra andalso to the earth shaking of the
gong, but also then the finalplanting of, oh, yeah. I'm
coming back or I'm signing uponline so I can do this in my
room. Do you know what I mean?Like, it was just one of those
things. Yeah.

Dawn Marie Perrier (06:52):
Yeah. The the song at the end, I always
joke. I'm like, I just I'm sureto have the get you in the
feels. It makes you feel, makesyou cry kind of song so that
even if you didn't have a goodtime, you'll think that you did
because the credit at the end,
it was just the song. Yeah.
Yeah. Oh, I'm so glad, Tara. I remember
that song, and I remember thatpractice very, very well.

Tara (07:16):
Yeah. So tell me a little bit more about, the online
website and stuff. What canpeople expect to find?

Dawn Marie Perrier (07:24):
Yeah. So that actually started it's so
funny. I during COVID, it waslike, okay. Well, I can't do
this in person. Really.
That was very limited, as we allremember, even though it kind of
feels like a dream now. And itwas like, okay, I'm going to try
to go online. So I just starteddoing live Facebook. Do you
remember that? You must rememberthat the Facebook live session,

(07:47):
the yoga nidra.
And that kind of quickly, butorganically, it was meant to
happen. It transformed into mywebsite, which has weekly
sessions that I prerecord andyou know, I put music to it. I
edit them. They're they're, youknow, professional sounding
recordings, and there's 3sessions every week that get

(08:09):
uploaded to members, you beingone of the OG members. And so
now our library has hundreds ofsessions that people can go in
and access.
You know, there might be a 20minute session to do. There
could be an hour session. Youcan, you know, bookmark your
favorites. And, as I said, thereare those 3 new sessions to look

(08:30):
forward to, I guess, everysingle week if you are a member.
You just have this unlimitedaccess to the sessions.
Tune in when you wake up beforebed, the middle of the night,
maybe a midday siesta, and youcan do them as little or or as
much as you like, which is nice. You know, life life can be full,
and it's nice to be able to doit on your own, you know, time

(08:53):
and space when maybe nobody'saround. You can close the door,
cover your eyes, get in yourbed, put your headphones in.
It's it's really accessible, which, you know, is is quite
convenient for for all of usthese days. So, yep, that's an
option.
My harmonize with Dawn, mywebsite, the online sessions.
I'm also I've got 3 audiobooksas well. They have, I think, 4

(09:18):
or 5 sessions each book that youcould purchase as well if you
didn't wanna commit to themembership or just come see me
at. There's there's all kinds ofoptions if you feel that
curiosity for sure.

Tara (09:32):
Yeah. So the website is harmonize.yoga backslash
onlinidra. So it's harm0nizedotyoga backslash0nlinidra
backslash. I just wanna pointthat out because a lot of my
listeners sometimes, you know, when we talk about it, the
spelling can be different orthey're not sure how to spell

(09:52):
something, and so they

Dawn Marie Perrier (09:53):
get directed to a strange website. Especially
online knee dress. I made thatup.

Tara (09:58):
Yeah. I know, but it works so well. Yeah.

Dawn Marie Perrier (10:01):
Oh, yeah. I know.

Tara (10:04):
It's a Thanks for appreciating it. Yes. And it is.
That fits. And so what I alsowanna say is there is, like, a
sample of online needra, youknow, a little a little a little
free one on her website on themain page that says new to yoga
needra.
So if you wanna check that out,you can check that out first,
but, I mean, is I can say thatthe membership is worth
everything because when I doneed it, I just I literally,

(10:26):
like, log in through my iPhone, which in the beginning, I had a
few problems trying to figureout myself because my iPhone,
you know, changed, and I wasjust like, I don't know how to
use branding technology.

Dawn Marie Perrier (10:35):
Yeah. Yeah.

Tara (10:36):
But got it figured out. And now, you know, everything
just tickety boo clicks in, andI'm able to listen to a session
and just enjoy that and, in thecomfort of my own home. And, I
do like the in person sessions, but when I can't make it, you
know, I I do log in. Anddefinitely, you know, as we head
towards the winter solstice,we'll be logging in more because
I'm it it's not so much thedarkness it gets to me. It's

(10:59):
literally just like fighting offthe hibernation mode that I feel
has to happen.

Dawn Marie Perrier (11:03):
Absolutely. And you know what? Keyword
there, Tara, that has to happen.A lot of us do want to be just,
you know, within ourselves andgo below the soil and wrap
ourselves up and cocoonourselves. And sometimes, you
know, where, you know, community, of course, is is
healing, and I love seeing allthe faces and the energies at
the canoe club.

(11:23):
But I personally even and foryou as well, I understand that
sometimes, you know, the deepesthealing, you do wanna be by
yourself, and and that's okay. And that's really where a big
part of this draw to do theonline stuff came from is, you
know, it's a very sacred, veryvulnerable space. Sometimes
being in community and in personis ideal. Sometimes being in

(11:47):
your bed, you know, and andhaving that space to just maybe
have a big cry or fall asleepand stay asleep. You know, it's
it's it's definitely convenient,the the online stuff.
So, yeah, if anybody wascurious, I'd say just hop on and
check things out, explorethings, and try the the freebie
session. There's also I thinkthere's some stretching and

(12:09):
breath work videos you couldcould access as well before a
session. And as always too, youcan connect with me whether it's
through the website or socialmedia. I have an active presence
on there, and Tara knows verywell. I send voice notes quite
often, so I'd love to chitchatwith you.
And if, you know, if anybody hadany questions, that's what I'm

(12:30):
here for. Of course. Yeah.

Tara (12:33):
Yeah. And that's what I love so much about it is that
it's so accessible because, like, just even hearing a voice
note, excuse me, instead of,like, you know, a text message
or

Dawn Marie Perrier (12:44):
Yeah.

Tara (12:44):
A written font and stuff, and you're reading it. And it's
completely different becauseimmediately, as soon as I hear
the Tony Royce, I'm like, oh,it's Dawn. This is cool. Like,
I'm like, yeah. I'm like, yeah.
Okay. So and then, you know, andwe and, you know, and it's just
it's one of the things whereit's it makes it personal, which
is which is perfect.

Dawn Marie Perrier (13:02):
It is perfect. And I I strive to to
offer that. It's kinda justbeen, that's how I operate. And
I I feel and and you know this,Tara. It's it's comes from a
place of humility, but that'swhy I think this has become what
it has because it is personal, and it comes from the heart.
And, I really do want it's myintention to connect with

(13:24):
everybody that dives into thesesessions, whether it's online or
in person or you're just curiousabout it. I I think we all
connect with certain people atthe exact right time when we're
meant to, and I consciouslychoose to to show up, you know,
in those connections. So, saidit and meant it. If anybody
wants to reach out and has anyquestions or, you know, feels

(13:46):
compelled to share or testthings out, I'm I am definitely
here for sure. I'd I'd love tobe.
Awesome.

Tara (13:53):
Yes. And you can find Dawn online under Dawn Marie or
dawn.perrier, whichever youwanna check her out. I'm sure
there's if there's anythingelse. But I have to say, the
cool thing about Dawn's socialmedia feed is that it has cool
things on it. Like like like, not just like someone saying,

(14:14):
hey.
Like, buy my stuff. Do you knowwhat I mean? It's really like
someone going, hey. I just wentfor, like, a 3 hour walk in the
woods, and I'm like, what? AndI'm like I'm like I'm like
Right?
I know. And then I'm just like, cool. And I'm like, I should get
out and do that. You know? Andit it's it's motivational
because you're just like it'sthe most, like, inspiring little
post where I'm just like, oh,yeah.
I'm just gonna hang out at thebeach. I really need to hear the
water today. And Dawn's postjust reminded me I need to get

(14:36):
out of my house and into nature. You know? And just to like you
said, we've talked in thebeginning of this podcast, you
know, about the grounding.
Honestly, you know, sometimes weget so much in our heads,
especially around this time ofyear, that a simple act of
grounding where we take our feetoff and stand even in a rain
puddle. Do you know what I mean?Just to Absolutely. To the
ground, you know, is one of thethings where you're just like,
oh, okay.

Dawn Marie Perrier (14:57):
Yeah. Those little reminders. Yep. Coming
back home to yourself. Yeah.
Sometimes it just takes that alittle step in the puddle. Yeah.
Or like you, a trip to the beachtoday. Right? Yes.
That's all it takes sometimes.Yeah.

Tara (15:12):
Dogs are thrilled. So but, you know, it is kinda funny
because, of course, the puppy islike, oh, I can find all kinds
of stuff in here, and he's just, like, digging through it, like,
you know, like, in the parkinglot, know where the animals are,
but, like, but, like, diggingthrough the stuff. And he pulls
out, of course, you know, somany dead garbage, and I'm just
literally fighting him off ofit. But with Jason, he's just
like, time to play. And I'mlike, time to give that to me.
Do you know what I mean?

Dawn Marie Perrier (15:33):
Okay. Like like like, let's go. And the

Tara (15:35):
other 2

Dawn Marie Perrier (15:36):
having 2 different experiences.

Tara (15:38):
Yeah. The other 2 the other 2 dogs just sit down and
wait because they're just like, well well, first of all, they're
like, mom's gonna win this one,but we're gonna watch it. Do you
know what I mean?

Dawn Marie Perrier (15:44):
Like, it's We're gonna sit back and watch
anyway. I know. I know.
The best. Yeah.
Oh, you're lucky to have them, Tara.

Tara (15:53):
They're lucky animals here. So great. They teach us
things every day.

Dawn Marie Perrier (15:57):
They really do. There's that that animal
medicine. Yeah. And you've got3. Right?

Tara (16:02):
I've got 3. Yes. I've got one who is perhaps not so
healthy anymore, but at the sametime, the other 2 keep him
going. So Yeah. You know, aslong as he decides to stick
around, we're gonna keep them.
So Right.

Dawn Marie Perrier (16:12):
One day at a time. One beach trip at a time.
Yeah. Yeah.

Tara (16:17):
So, so what are your plans for winter solstice? What's
coming up? You're gonna doanything? Are you

Dawn Marie Perrier (16:22):
gonna Yeah. Absolutely. So it's kind of back
to back, which I love. There isthe full moon this Sunday, 15th,
which is the last full moon ofthe year, which is auspicious.
It's also the last day ofMercury retrograde.
So I'm like, oh, yeah, there'sharmony for that day. And, like,
funny enough, there's already,like, I think, 25 people

(16:44):
registered. And I'm theyprobably don't even know that
it's the moon, but they'refeeling it. They're like, I need
to get my ass grounded. I needsome sound healing because stuff
is going on.
So that is coming this weekend. And then, yeah, the solstice as
well. I'll be doing a harmony or2. So divinely timed with the

(17:05):
last full moon, the wintersolstice, and, right before
Christmas. And it's I think, again, with the divine timing,
it's people are wanting andneeding and feeling that tug to
start hibernating and also takecare of themselves amidst, you
know, the the flurry of theholidays.
So I'm really looking forward toto both of them to to holding

(17:27):
that space.

Tara (17:28):
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For sure.
Yeah. I I find it hard to youknow, I almost have, like, 2
twins pulling me. 1 is like, yes. Winter's here. Let's go.
Let's get it done. And then theother day, I'm like, oh god. No.
Slow down. Wait.

Dawn Marie Perrier (17:42):
Why do nothing.

Tara (17:43):
Yeah. Why is December 20th already? Oh, the darkest day.
Don't go out. Do you

Dawn Marie Perrier (17:46):
know what I mean?

Tara (17:47):
Like like like and I'm just like, oh my gosh. But, you
know, I often find that I thinkit's also, like, a Canadian
thing because I went on thisriver cruise as a birthday trip
in October, and it was great. But we went we're in part of
Europe. And so part of Germanyor France, Fiat one, had their
time change happen. And then forthem, that means it's a signal
of winter for them.

(18:08):
And, you know, we all hadcreated clothing for winter, but
it literally almost, like, within a day of being in that
area geographically, whateverwas going off the mountains and
nature at the time, it waswinter. Like, it was just boom,
dark and boom, like, you know, cold and boom, everything. And
we're all like, oh my god. You

Dawn Marie Perrier (18:24):
know? Like, it was just It was just

Tara (18:26):
the medians. I know. We're just like, there was no median.
It was just you know?

Dawn Marie Perrier (18:31):
We did not expect this.
I know. I know. I know.

Tara (18:35):
And it was just kinda one of the things where I'm just
like, I'm glad we have theseasons enough that we kinda get
gently put into it, althoughwe're reminded with ice, rain,
and snow when it happens. Yeah. This time. But we were all kinda
laughing because it's just likesomeone said, well, I guess it's
winter. I go, well, I don'tthink we have much choice.
Do you know what I mean? Right.

Dawn Marie Perrier (18:52):
It just happened overnight. Here we are.
Yep. Yep. Yep.

Tara (18:56):
But

Dawn Marie Perrier (18:56):
Yeah. That's big. Those are big jolts. You
know, whether we wanna be awareof it or not, the body is, and
those are big jolts to thesystem. Right?
So it's important to whetherit's, you know, yoga nidra or a
beach trip or just sitting inmeditation for 2 minutes and
watching your breath andwatching what emotions are
present or journaling ordancing. I I could go on for a

(19:19):
whole other podcast. It'simportant to carve out that
space, especially during timeslike these. So, you know, with
the solstice and and the winterand hibernation and the moon and
Christmas, the holidays. Yeah.
It's if if nobody has heardanything but this right now,
it's it's take that time foryourself and personalize it,

(19:39):
whatever that means. You know, whether Tara and I are a part of
that or or not, it's it's it'sso so important. And it's not a
luxury. It's a necessity, andpeople need to remember that.

Tara (19:51):
Yeah. You know what I love? I just had a flashback to
one of your in person sessionsat the neck where you do the
dancing, where you have, like, shake it all out.

Dawn Marie Perrier (19:58):
Yes. We still do it.

Tara (20:00):
We don't get that on Only Nature that much. Do you know

Dawn Marie Perrier (20:02):
what I mean? True.

Tara (20:03):
No. I know what I mean. True. Because it's it's I didn't
think about it till now. And andit's not like I don't miss it,
but I'm literally like, as I'mlistening to the sound of your
voice, I'm I'm in a cozy spotwhere I don't wanna move around
that much.

Dawn Marie Perrier (20:15):
Right.

Tara (20:16):
Usually, my bed or on the couch or something or even on
the floor just propped up andready to go. But I have to laugh
because I'm just like, oh, yeah.Like, when you're in person,
there's that magic of being inperson and having that
spontaneity where you're just, like, you know, send it all out
or breathe it all out or work itall out.

Dawn Marie Perrier (20:31):
And you

Tara (20:31):
you know, get the energy out, and then you pull back into
the ground. And you'reliterally, like, just taking
back into the sound again ofwhat's going on around you. And
Absolutely. And but on the news, like, because I'm not saying it
doesn't work. It's just, like itliterally just is a different
experience in that It

Dawn Marie Perrier (20:48):
is a different space. Personal. Yeah.

Tara (20:50):
You're very much listening. It's like 1 on 1
sessions. Do you know what Imean? And you're just, like,
digging deep. And it's almost tothe point where when you feel it
just as a participant that youdon't wanna be around a bunch of
other people.
Do you know what I mean? Toshare that at that time. Do you
know what I mean? That you're

Dawn Marie Perrier (21:04):
actually heard that many times.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Tara (21:07):
Yeah. And I'm yeah. I I was just gonna say, like, have
you experienced that with otherpeople talking about it? Like,
you know, in saying that, yeah,it's very personal and, like,
it's a different experience, butalso very worthy and very
worthwhile. Yeah.

Dawn Marie Perrier (21:19):
Absolutely. Yeah. It's it is more well, it
technically, it is. It's it's 1on 1. You know?
It's me and you. And and when Irecord the sessions, that's how
it feels on my end as well. Ifeel like, you know, something
kinda gets channeled through, and it's just me and you. And,
I'm pretty sure that comesthrough in in the sessions and

(21:40):
how we deep dive together. It'sit's a totally different
dynamic.
The structure, the bones are thesame. Like yoga Nidra is yoga
Nidra. Like, breath and bodyscans and, you know, breath
holds and this and that. But thedynamic and the space shared,
it's it's wildly different whenyou're doing it, you know, with
me and your headbuds at home andBen, just you and I, or in a

(22:00):
group, in a community setting. And, you know, there's a time
and a space for both.
Right? And it's so it'sencouraged to be try them both
out at some point and then seewhat makes sense for you and
unapologetically do that.

Tara (22:16):
Yes. And

Dawn Marie Perrier (22:16):
maybe it's neither. You know? Whatever.
Yeah.

Tara (22:19):
Yeah. The The other thing I do is I bring crystals in with
it. So what I used to do is putin my bra strap, like, when I'll
be in session with you, but Ialways laugh because I was a
little nervous about losing oneof them somewhere along the way,
but I'd be like, well, if itpops out, it's

Dawn Marie Perrier (22:29):
gonna let it

Tara (22:30):
pop out somebody else. You know? Yeah. But I had to laugh
because it's just like, I havethis whole thing set up, and I
was just like, oh my god. It'sso, like, it's it's so, like,
connecting and but I just I hadto laugh because I was just
like, when people talk aboutcrystals, they often don't
realize the power of your choicethat day to pick a crystal.
So my my advice to anybody doingAlainidra is if you haven't

(22:51):
talked about crystals or thoughtabout doing it, you know, ask
Dawn, you know, like, as a cueas to what she's doing with one
of her sessions. If there's anyrecommendations on crystals or,
you know, thought she has thatshe thinks of you and a crystal.
You know? So because that is theuniverse talking to you. You
know?
And and let's say, hey. Let'smake a let's make a connection
here, and let's get back to you.You know? So

Dawn Marie Perrier (23:12):
Yeah. Let's personalize it. Let's tailor to
you and Yeah. Yeah. Dive alittle deeper.
Oh, the crystals are such a niceaddition. You know, like a,
throat chakra, you know, something on your throat or on
the 3rd eye or crystals in yourpalms or just kind of around you
or on your heart. Yeah. Oh,yeah. There's a lot.
We could have a whole otherpodcast on that.

(23:33):
I know. When I was I feel

Tara (23:34):
like too, like, the sound of the gong. Like, when I held
one of the crystals in my hand,I could feel the crystal almost,
like, shaking with the music init. You know what I mean? Like,
it was it literally it wasvibrating my hand, and I'm like,
okay.

Dawn Marie Perrier (23:47):
Woah. I know. I know.

Tara (23:49):
I was like I was like, oh my gosh. I'm like, that gong is
crazy, but I had to laughbecause it is so good. But I
just, you know, I, you know, Ithink the first time I heard, I
was like, oh, she did warn us itwould be loud. I was like, but
it is, like, going through mybody loud. Do Do you know what I
mean?
He's like, you know?

Dawn Marie Perrier (24:04):
Loud. Yeah. The story I tell mostly
everybody, sometimes I forgetto, but not often is, I had a
gentleman come to, it was one ofthe first I think it was in the
1st year of my or when I had thegong, anyway, at Banuk. And this
older gentleman, he had neverreally meditated before for his
first experience, but he wasvery, very open. And, I had said

(24:27):
to everyone, you know, I playthis gong at the end, and it
will gradually get extremely, extremely, extremely loud.
It may startle you. Lean intoit. You know? Feel whatever
comes up. And he came up to meat the end of the session, and I
I really didn't know where whatway it was gonna go.
I couldn't really get a read onit. And he came up to me. He put

(24:48):
his hands on my shoulders, andhe kinda, like, took this
dramatic breath. And he said,Don, he said, that gong was,
like, part of my my firstsentence, was effing terrifying,
he said. He's like, but I lovedit.
And he goes, sign me up. I'mgonna be back next week. And
he's been one of my regularsever since. Like, it it knocks
the socks off you.

(25:08):
But it's
it really does it just like it like you
alluded to it vibrating in yourstone. Like, it vibrates you
down to the bone, down to yourcore.

Tara (25:18):
Fine. Yeah.

Dawn Marie Perrier (25:19):
It does, and it moves something. And that's
why a lot of people I've seennot everybody, and it it
differs. Big screams, peoplehave let out screams during the
gong, cries, laughter. 1 girlgot up and started dancing. And
she said she was a ballerina asa kid, and she just felt this,
like, innate draw to just get upand kinda dance as the gong was

(25:42):
going.
It's pretty powerful.

Tara (25:44):
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, you know, it's amazing. This always
goes by fast with a lot of myguests, but we have about 5
minutes left in the podcast.

Dawn Marie Perrier (25:54):
Right. Yeah.

Tara (25:54):
And I just wanna, bring that up to gently, you know, see
if there's anything else youwanna chat about before we wrap
up today. You know, it has beena pleasure to talk to you, of
course, but just in case there'sa nugget or something you wanna
share that you feel compelled toafter our discussion, you know,
you know, without throwing a toohuge spotlight on you, but you
are the guest.

Dawn Marie Perrier (26:13):
Yeah. Oh, right. No. Yeah. Yeah.
Just, you know,

Tara (26:16):
if there's anything you wanna share or talk about, you
know, before we wrap up in a fewminutes, just, you know, we
still got 5 minutes. It's justYeah. You know, I wanna I wanna
kinda nudge you into that area.

Dawn Marie Perrier (26:26):
Yeah. I love that. A little nuggets. Well, I
mean, I do feel like we coveredmost of the bases, if not all,
as I'm not surprised with youand I, it flows very easily. I
think I'll just speak a bit moreto what I, kind of peekabooed at
a little earlier and just, youknow, whether you try the
sessions, reach out in person, online, just another gentle but

(26:49):
extra large reminder to to takethat space for yourself.
We do all have someone put it tome the other day, and it was so
meaningful. She said, our bodiesare like these big garages. And
what we do, what we've donesince we were kids, even before

(27:10):
that, is something big happens. It's traumatic. It leaves a
mark, a scar.
It breaks our heart a littlebit. It affects you, and it's
too too big. So what we do is weput it in a box and we store it
in the garage, but we have everyintention of coming back to it.
Just life is a lot, andsometimes we don't have the

(27:31):
capacity or the space to feelthings, to process these big,
heavy, sometimes hurtfulmoments. So we put them in the
garage.
We intend on coming back to it,but life still lifes. And we do
another box and then another andanother, and we can get to a
point where things are justfull. And our capacity for

(27:53):
handling life, it becomes reallyminimal. I can relate to that.
I'm sure a lot of us can.
You know, our nervous systemsare just fried. And so taking
time, again, whether it's a yoganidra practice or something
completely different, I reallydo encourage you to take that

(28:13):
time and space for yourself toopen up a box. And it's not like
we're gonna clean out thegarage, you know, in 2 seconds.
That's not how it works. But,you know, some mindful momentum
to do a little decluttering andreturn back to yourself.
Again, I'll say it for thesecond time, maybe even a third.
It's it's not a luxury. Selfcare isn't a luxury. It's it's a

(28:38):
necessity and something we'reall so deserving of and
sometimes really disconnectedfrom. So if I can help in any
way, shape, or form, to get thatmomentum going, it would be an
honor.
And if it's just taking thisreminder, this little poke to
take care of yourself and makeyourself the number one

(29:00):
priority. Then. If that's allyou heard today, then mission
accomplished. And I I alreadyknow Tara very well, and I I
know she will agree.

Tara (29:09):
Yes. Yes. 100%. So Dawn is harmonize.yoga
backslashonlinidra. So h a rm0nized.yoga@ I mean, backslash,

backslashonlinidra.
So, and you can find oursocials, Dawn Marie, Dawn

(29:32):
Perrier. And I just wanna say,you know, yes. Again, if it's
the whole, you know, coming tothe central nervous system, I
mean, wow. I mean, have we everwired in putting those boxes
away and not,

Dawn Marie Perrier (29:43):
you

Tara (29:43):
know, connecting them and not not dealing with what's
inside? You know? They there's areason why we have the fable of
Pandora's box. Right? Like, it'syou know, this is, like,
thousands of years old mythologycoming into play along with
thousands of years old yogapractice saying, hey.
We need to you know, I would saybecause I have my background in
science a method, but it is a ateaching, a practice for people

(30:05):
to be able to reconnect withwhat's going on. And that's why
I love that there's online Nidrathat you created that name, that
you started harmonized with Dawnthrough COVID and came through
those challenges yourself, stilldo in person, but also reach
more people who maybe don'twanna be around others or maybe
are really grounding into, youknow, hibernating during winter

(30:26):
as they head towards thesolstice. So Right. You know,
what I love is that it's allaccessible and, like, there's
little nuggets of wisdom in eachand every session that I tune
into. So super appreciate whatyou do.

Dawn Marie Perrier (30:39):
Oh, I appreciate you, Tara. This has
been a huge gift to kick startthe weekend. Thank you for this.
But, also, I mean, I I alwaysobserve you from afar, I guess,
not too too far, and you'realways just that connector. You
are such a connector, and youshare in everybody's joy and,
you know, help out everybody youcan.

(31:01):
And it's it's noted, and it'sfelt. And I'm I'm just grateful
to have been able to share alittle space with you today. So
thank you for doing you anddoing what you do. It's been, a
real honor.
