(00:08):
Master draping. It's gonna to comesun. Merry comments under the bag and
get to start. It's chopping. It's gonna come sun, Me come in
under bag and the baby. Getto start. What's popping Baby? We're
(00:41):
back. It's What's Popping Pop podcast? You live for og pop And I
have the pleasure to have China readin the building. You know what I'm
saying. Went for losing, That'swhat we're talking about. This is the
detective right here. It is inthe movie. You know. I know
you guys seen the coverage. She'sbleaked up on me just like this I
(01:03):
have right here, she's in thebuilding. Uh, China, Yes,
you acted your ass off. Ido it. I can say that.
You know. They started to talkabout the movie. We could you know,
Spiller a couple of little beans, but you acted your ass off.
I never had the pleasure to workwhere I've never matter none of that.
(01:23):
But in this industry, if you'reworking sometimes it's just destiny that you're gonna
cross pass. Especially in Chicago. The first day, I was like,
I think everybody was. I waslike, Okay, she bad, she
got tattooed, Yeah, everybody, but what could she do? Is she
really going on a cop and man, she showed up her little flass her
(01:48):
pass and uh she was very believable. Yeah you know, Oh was this
your first experience acting, but myfirst time as a lead? Yes,
not my first experience. I thinkyou did extra work. I did some
extra work. I had actually mybest extra work. I don't know if
(02:10):
you can have best extra work, but it was definitely candy Man the newer
one, like I had like aten minute scene in the art gallery if
people ever watched it, like I'min the art gallery when they're walking past
and they're standing right there where Iam holding a conversation. So this right
here is your first leading one, right, yeah, so before I take
(02:35):
it to the movie though, rightyeah, Um, I don't want to
miss a couple of things. Noone wants your ethnicity because you could be
all over the place, right Iam. I am African American of course,
um Asian, uh Puerto Rican.Wow. I didn't know that part.
Okay, dope, dope, okay, okay. My other question is
(03:02):
by this, I think everybody that'stapped in no could agree that it's difficult
to you know, get in moviesand you don't get them opportunities to look
beautiful, to have your wardrobe together, to maybe read your lines with you
(03:23):
all that good stuff. Do youdo this longer or do you have a
team? No, I definitely havea team. And I think that's important
to have people that not only thatare working for you, but working with
you. A lot of people don'tknow that Will Gates is my managers.
He's my manager and like with meand Will been knowing each other a long
(03:45):
time, and it just made itsome stuff makes sense, you know,
and our partnership came along and itjust made I trusted him completely, you
know. And and to have someoneto go in you know, you need
someone and if it's okay to notknow everything, but you need someone that
kind of knows a little bit morethan you're doing, that's okay. Um.
(04:06):
And I'm also signed to promote TalentAgency, which is they get you
into the big doors. So alot of people don't know that. I
was up for the roll of Jennard'sgirlfriend on Power That Will Be this season.
Um got the callback, but Iwas beat out by actor Adrian and
Walker, who's amazing by the way, Um, she did an excellent job
(04:28):
as his girlfriend. But they getyou into those doors. So you gotta
know which you know, which avenuesyou are trying to go down, and
what's your which was initially your guns? Now is that the only avenue or
is that the one you really reallyare love for? Um? Acting?
Acting? Yeah, acting model andpays the bills. I'm not gonna lie.
Modeling does pay the bills. Um, because I'm a full time model
(04:53):
as well. Do it yeah,And I can do it, and I
can do it with my eyes closed. But the true passions is acting like
I'm really starting to like kind ofnot take those jobs. I got to
ask, right, I know you'rea little covered group cheat up and up
and all, but you have alot of ink. I have a lot
of it. Word when did youstart doing that? And may we ask,
(05:19):
if it's even a question, howmany do you have? I don't
think we can even if you speak. Yeah, I'm not I'm not even
at um, I'm not even atuh at like how many anymore? I'm
at like body percentage? Okay,so how much? Yeah, how much
percent of that body you got coveredup? I can tell you no,
(05:44):
no, I can tell you theprobably the only extremities that are not completely
covered on my legs from here upand like when I say from here up,
literally from here up my back,my neck like I have a full
back tad. All my arm arecovered, my stomach has completely covered my
back, like I'm completely covered. The only place I still have room is
(06:06):
my legs. Different artists, differentartists, Okay, Um, you enjoy
InCom well being the manager of mymag which was Black and Crew Chicago,
Um, and having done some seasonsin some episodes of that. But I
actually worked very closely with Ryan.I was the manager of his shop.
(06:27):
So about tattoo artists, to thinkabout them when you're working in the shop
all day long for twelve hours andthey're bored, you know, they just
want to do something so they'll graphyou. No I don't tattoo it,
doc, No I'll draw stick figures, or you don't let me do it.
No, no, no, I'mnot, I'm not. What was
that experience though, I can't justskip that. Oh that was really dope.
(06:50):
Um, actually having worked within theshow and then actually working running the
actual tattoo shop and real life becausewe toured a lot. It was a
lot. It was like I workedliterally seven days a week, Um,
because it was always something that neededto be done. There was always some
(07:11):
work that needed We always had specialguests coming through. We always had just
you know, sometimes people who justfans of the show coming through experience.
Yes, it was a really goodexperience, So Detective, Yes, I
went for lusingh. What was itlike working with the people you worked with
and what did you rolling to youand bringing that role to life? Um.
(07:36):
First of all, I just thinkour cast, of course you included.
It was just it just became likean instant family very quickly. You
know, like I was almost reallysad when you know when when it was
over. You. Yeah, likeit was like you because you grow,
you grow accustomed and you girl kindof a bond with those people that you
(07:59):
are used to sing every day.Um. For me, I have this
stigma about the kind and me andwe'll talk about it all the time,
about the kind of roles that Iwant to play and so being able to
because from one and no di toany to anybody who you know will take
(08:20):
those kind of roles. Like I'mnot gonna I have to protect my brand.
Um, I got booked. I'mnot gonna say for what show,
but it was for a very popularshow, and they wanted me to do
like a really hardcore sex scene. It was it's no lines though, but
for me out of the gate thatno, Like, I have way more
(08:41):
to give. I have way moretalent to be offered than that, So
you know what, I'm gonna pass. And a lot of people thought I
was crazy, Like are you crazy? I'm like, NA, like,
you can give me, you cangive me something else. And I stood
on that and I'm still strong onit, and I was serious about it.
Yeah, okay, Um, youwere very confident every time you showed
(09:03):
up the set. You're I onlyseen serious scenes of you. Um,
was it a challenge to play acop a little bit? A little bit
because it has it has some similarities. It was some dates that cores aside
with some real tragic things that happenedin my life. Um, so that
(09:24):
kind of was the motivational push forit. And then playing a cop.
You know, girls that look likeme, that have tattoos that are sided
up are not supposed to play roleslike that. So I was really gracious
to bowl uh you know, andand even for semiotic and will for pushing
those kind of boundaries and me havingto carry myself in a certain way where
(09:48):
it was believable, like, yeah, she is a cop, and like
and when it was so funny whenI think when you and Cohart actually saw
me uniformed up, y'all was like, oh, she she is a cop.
Like it was a It was areal situation. It was a real
situation. You know. I'm justmeeting a lot of people at the time.
I was just meeting some of yourfavorite um moments about maybe shooting up
(10:18):
without spoiling maybe about the film specialfor you. I'm not gonna give this
away, but my favorite scene andyou guys, when people see it,
you guys will agred the Ali singThe Ali scene was to me, it
was like the Pinnacle scene because itinvolved all of us and it was just
(10:41):
it's just a turning point. Yeah, it was. It was It was
the turning point. It was aturning point, uh in the film.
And I just think it. Ijust think that was just an amazing scene
to see, uh, to seeeverybody be a part of it, you
know, to see to see atthat moment the roads get crossed and and
(11:05):
everybody discovered who each other is.And I think that's dope. I think
people are gonna really get a kickout of that, right, You're at
a worse popping podcast. We askedthe guests every week around listen you on
towards towards wrap up time, notabout your slick ass boots and shoot.
(11:28):
I asked her guests three three names. Yes, and you know, I
just want to hear we want tohear first thing called come poverty on mind.
You know what I mean. Sothe first one I'm gonna ask you,
first name I'm gonna throw at youis uh Lola Anthony. I think
she's so um. I think she'sso not because of just what she's been
(11:52):
able to accomplish with her acting career. Um, because they had just kind
of labeled her Carmelo Anthony's wife, and she proved to the world she was
much more than that, you know. And being able to do that,
uh it regardless who going through adivorced, regardless who going through heartache,
(12:13):
and being able to like still getup and put on that face every single
day like that takes a lot. That takes a lot of strength, not
just because she's a woman, butjust because it was just in her to
do and she's made she's made ajoke career for herself, so I have
to give it her props. I'mhoping to do the same thing like to
you know, she's went from oneshow to another, and she's been able
(12:37):
to make her mark on each show. Okay, dope, m Floyd Mayweather.
He's interesting, like um Floyd. You know. The interesting thing about
Floyd is I'm always always scrolling throughInstagram, and I, because of my
(12:58):
feet, is mostly a lot ofpositive stuff. So I always hear jewels
and gyms that he's dropping, andthose are the things that I tend to
pay attention to. Um. Itend to shy away from when he's somewhere
and he's pulling out his backpack fullof money, like all that's nice,
(13:18):
you know, but I've been aroundguys have done that, Like that's not
impressive to me, you know. But when he whenever he's got some kind
of knowledge that he's dropping or somekind of positive innuendo, like I tend
to like kind of perk up anear to it because that's what I'd rather
take in than anything else. Allof the other stuff I don't really pay
attention to me. Okay, GloryKardasha, I gotta hit you one KF.
(13:48):
He's one time about Chloe. Whatyou think about Glorie kardash whatever you
even wanting, you know, talkabout the whole card. But I gotta
hit you one time. I thinkthey are I think all of them are
cultural ulchers. I think uh,I think like majority of um women of
(14:09):
that stature. They love our features, they love how we look, they
love our style, they love youknow, our swag. But you know,
none of them would trade to be, you know, an ethnic woman
if someone paid them sensible. Yeah, and I kind of go through what
we went through. They're not gonna, you know, they of course,
they don't want to be labeled asas ethnic. They don't want to be,
(14:33):
but they would. They love thelook of it. They love our
men, you know. So that'show I just, you know, I
really don't have those are my thoughtsagainst them, you know, against all
of them, not just Chloe. You know, y'all don't even get through
you. And I can't give it. No, I can't ask about or
lard none of That's how it's washpoppingpodcast. Where can they go follow you
