(00:02):
Hello everybody, it's Bishop deb Nowthis particular podcast is a departure from my
regular prayer on the go. I'mactually sitting in my office with my cats
and dogs, so you might hearthe cats in the background. This will
likely spin into its own podcast intime, but we're gonna let that evolve.
(00:25):
We'll see what happens with this oneand if this is the right format.
I have so many plates spinning, and of course all of them are
important because that's my life. Sotonight, at seven pm Eastern time,
we're gonna be creating sacred space.I'll light a candle you can too from
your own space. We're gonna offerprayers and intentions on behalf of those who've
(00:47):
sent along names of loved ones inneed, as well as prayers for global
circumstances. We all know people whomay need assistance in their life, and
we may find ourselves in need ofprayers well, so we invite you to
join us. The candlelighting is forall who are struggling, all who are
(01:07):
in need of healing, who arein need of hope, restoration, peace,
And as we join our hearts together, as we hold all our loved
ones in this beautiful world and directlove and angels to every need. Much
good will happen. We won't knowthe true magnificent effort that will be a
(01:33):
response to this, but we cantrust that there will be transformation in people's
lives because of it. I guaranteeit now. I often talk about prayer
as being our superpower. And thereare some who are uncomfortable with the word
prayer, and I understand that itgets caught up with religious ideologies, with
(01:55):
systems that no longer make sense tosome people. And in fact, the
word prayer comes from the Latin percari. Wonder if that also means precarious.
It's the root, and it meansto ask or to entreat. So we
are asking, we're entreating, andsome equate praying with begging, and in
fact that is also a meaning ofthe word. So we have petitions.
(02:19):
You know, we come before Creatorand we offer you know, on our
knees as miserable offenders, and wehope, we hope that you know,
Creator will deign to listen to usand to do something about our needs.
That's the old thinking. It's importantfor us to dust off that word and
(02:43):
to use it to describe something activeand powerful. Because it is. I
would like us to shift our understandingand to reframe it, to reflect on
what it truly represents. Prayer isnot about falling to our knees, says
miserable Offenders. It's not about pleadingwith God to listen to us. It's
(03:06):
not a wishful, conditional thing.Creator does not sift through requests and decide
who's deserving or not. That isold school thinking. Divine love, the
Creator, the Holy One, howeveryou name Deity created, You, created
me, created all that is.You have the spark of the divine within
(03:30):
you. You are a child ofthe most high Creator. You have within
you the power of the cosmos.Do you believe that it's time you did?
But how can that be? Youprotest? I mess up, I
say and do things that hurt others. I'm not a good person all the
(03:51):
time. I am a miserable offender. I really am unworthy. There are
so many people out there who aremuch better than I. How can God
love me? You know you're thinkingthat. Well. Those of us who
are parents, we know when ourchildren make mistakes or get into trouble.
A lamp gets broken, a reportcard is dismal. There are fights between
(04:14):
siblings, sometimes harsh words. Forus, a new car might get dented
or are worse. We see themlearning and growing and apologizing as they realize
they've messed up, and when theysay they're sorry, our hearts usually melt
and we forgive. But with Creator, every time we recognize our errors or
(04:39):
actions that have wounded another or ourselvesand we say we're sorry, contrite hearts
poof. It's like it never happened. It is erased, it is forgotten.
When we recognize our poor behavior oractions and are sincerely regretful and sorry,
(04:59):
we are embraced by Creator. Weare restored. We are in alignment
with love, divine love once more. Now, sometimes we might feel that
our prayers are going into empty space. Nothing is happening. We feel ignored.
We get so impatient and maybe evenangry. We stamp our foot and
(05:23):
we decide that Creator must not loveus, maybe we don't deserve the answer
to our prayer. We get intothis cycle of what if? What IF's
why? Why is it not happening? See how our little human brains work,
How much do we miss? Howmany blessings pass us by because we
have our arms crossed. Do youbelieve that your prayers are heard? Then
(05:47):
you have to trust the process, and that is tough sometimes divine timing.
If we can trust that divine loveis there ready to pull everything together at
the right time, then that willmake all the difference. We receive the
answer, we receive the blessing. We are healed in wonderful ways, not
(06:10):
always in the way that we ask, but our prayers are always answered for
our highest and best. When wecannot feel the grace of the divine when
we wonder about God or Creator,we need to look at our own lives.
We need to do some reflection. We have pulled away somehow, not
(06:30):
the other way around. When weare back into alignment, recognizing that we've
got a bit off the path orveered to the left and the right instead
of staying on the stones, well, no joy. Once more. When
we are in alignment, when everythinglines up, we feel love and beloved
(06:54):
and it all comes together. Blessingsflow. Know that we are loved,
We know that we are worthy. We have no doubt that our prayers are
going to be answered. Is thismaking sense? This is a pep talk
before tonight, and to tell youthe truth. I feel like I'm standing
(07:14):
in a pulpit. It just seemsso important to say, so important.
When we mess up, when wedo something that we deeply regret, and
we turn to Creator and say we'resorry, then we are restored. Divine
love is always waiting to say,Oh, okay, do what you can
to make amends. Forgive yourself aswell. I forgive you. Learn from
(07:38):
it, do better. I loveyou. No run along. This is
important because you have to claim yoursuperpower. You have to claim it.
I have to claim it. Theworld needs our light and our love right
now. And I want you tothink about this. Let's all think,
(07:58):
let's all reflect on this. Wecannot let the shadows and the fears hold
us back. We are powerful andwe are necessary. You're not on this
earth by accident. Our superpower isprayer through the power of love, fueled
by love. Consider this. I'mChristian. You might pi of another faith,
(08:22):
but all the main religions have loveas their tenet. Jesus healed people.
He talked them about being compassionate. He reached out to everyone. He
taught about forgiveness, grace, theimportance of prayer. He performed miracles,
and he said to people. Hesaid to people that they could do things
(08:46):
that were even greater, even greaterthan a miracle raising people from the dead.
He affirmed us in our superpower,we have the same power because it
all comes from the same source.Jesus always credited Creator with the miraculous things
(09:07):
he performed. And when we letlove, divine love flow through us through
our prayers and intention, through ourkindness, through our compassion, through our
acceptance and welcome, that spark ofdivinity that is part of us will change
the world. You and I havethis within us. Everyone on this planet
(09:33):
can access it. And when wecome together at seven pm to night in
our own space and ask Creator andthe angels to bring healing and comfort and
prosperity and guidance and love to peoplethroughout the world along with blessings for our
planet, good will happen. Goodwill happen. We have to trust that,
(09:56):
We have to know that, wehave to believe it because we are
sparks of the divine love. Wehave the handprint of God within us.
As we work together for good, the world will be transformed. We need
to trust that people's lives will bepositively affected. We need to believe that
(10:18):
light has increased because of our work, and throughout we're going to give thanks
to Divine Love for working in usand through us. This does not happen
through our steam. This comes becauseGod works in us and through us,
and God wants what's best for everybody. So I hope you can join in
(10:39):
from your space. I'm going tobe posting the little candle lighting ritual on
Facebook at seven and I'll probably recordit so that you can follow along and
post it. Then you'll need acandle if you've got one, and you'll
find it on my Facebook timeline. So I hope you can join in at
seven. And if you can't,know that we've created sacred so anytime you
(11:01):
get there, you're going to beadding to the voice, and adding to
the power, and adding to thelight and adding to the love. There's
no wrong way to do this. It's all for good. So I hope
to have you joined me later.Take care,
