(00:02):
Hello everybody. It's Bishop deb andI am coming to you from my backyard
where the dog is running around likea crazy fool. It's been so rainy
and so wet that i've he he'spaper trained, so on days like when
it's really really raining, he doesn'twanna go out, so we make alternate

(00:23):
arrangements. But today he is outand about and chasing unseen things in the
yard. That was uh quite astorm yesterday. We had major thunder and
lightning at uh ten o'clock in themorning. It looked like midnight. It
was a little scary, and thenit cleared up and I I I had

(00:48):
arrangements to go and see a concertin Toronto last night and been looking so
forward to it. It's one ofmy favorite perform performers stuff strings. And
it looked for all the world likethat was not going to happen with the
weather being so horrible. And Idid a wedding in the afternoon, and
the sun peeked out a bit andall the terrible threats and warnings came to

(01:15):
an end, and so my sonSimon and I were able to go and
it was delightful. It was.It was such a well I'm a super
fan, as many of you know. The uh it was late in the
afternoon and she put out a callfor a photographer, and Simon has a
great camera and he does photography, and so I had messaged her and they

(01:41):
were just so busy they didn't getback to me. So he brought it
along and he ended up being thephotographer for the event and running around taking
all kinds of great shots to differentangles. I have no voice today because
I was singing so loud and woohooinga lot. But it was wonderful.
If you do get a chance tocheck her out on She's on iTunes and

(02:04):
Spotify, Steph Strings and her newEP that she's just put out in the
last few weeks is absolutely wonderful. She's only twenty three and she's an old
soul. I mean, her musicis so mature and great sound, an
amazing guitar player. A lot ofthe people I spoke to last night hadn't

(02:28):
been to one of her concerts, but they'd seen her reels on Instagram and
we're curious, and they weren't disappointed. They were you know, she's just
a really good entertainer. So thatwas last night. We got home late,
like twelve thirty. But again, getting there and coming back there was

(02:49):
hardly any rain and hardly any traffic, which was a miracle in itself going
back and forth to Toronto. Soit was great. So I hope you
are enjoying your three day. We'vegot a weekend coming up. It's still
kind of mixed here. It's kindof overcast one second and a bit of

(03:09):
blue sky the next. Sun wasout when I first came out. Now
it's gone. But it's almost themiddle of July. Can you believe that
almost the middle of July. It'sgoing to be Halloween before we know it.
I just marvel at the passage oftime. I watched something on Facebook,

(03:30):
yeah, Facebook, the other day, and it was a person talking
about time, saying that if weare involved in something that we love and
we look up in like two hourshave gone, but it feels like ten
minutes. We just age ten minutesbecause we're not watching the clock. And
converse is true if we're bored andwe're thinking something up is up there yelling

(03:53):
at us. If we're bored andwe're thinking that, you know, chime
is just dragging it. An hourfeels like a then that's going to affect
the way we eat as well.I like that idea because it goes along
with a lot of the people whotalk about doing what you love. You
know, it's not only going toattract good things to you when you're following

(04:15):
your heart and doing things that makeyou happy, and that's ideally what we
all want to be doing. Butalso that when you are in engaged in
something and you know it feels likeyou've been at it for ten minutes and
you look up at the clock insix hours of roll by, then you
know, if that stops us fromaging those six hours, and I'll take

(04:39):
the ten minutes, that's great. The only to get the more time I
want to keep. So interesting thought. Interesting thought. I don't know how
that works in your world, butI found it to be a pretty neat
idea. Dog is looking for hehe you know how dogs pick up since

(05:02):
it's like they can see it likea color vapor trail, and so he's
just wandering all over the place tryingto find something. Nothing to be found,
it's long gone, but good nos. Yeah, So I just thought
a chick in being Thursday, mydaisies are out and my lavender is growing

(05:23):
and the lawn needs cut desperately.Nick's been away up north for a week,
and Simon is busy or busy,You're busy than any normal human being
should be. So it's long andI don't do lawns anymore. Not my
thing. It's when God made sons. Where do you go? I lost?
I've lost my dog. He's there, he is. So yes,

(05:48):
I don't do lawns, but Iyou know, I do dishes, I
do laundry, not theirs. It'sit's different when you're growing, when you're
living with your grown kids. Right, they're both in their thirties, and
at this point in time, it'sreally difficult to find a place to live
on the on the kind of moneythey make. So we're all we share

(06:10):
the house, and it's it's alovely thing when you're a parent of a
grown up, though, it's it'sa different dynamic, and we really get
along. We're very good friends, and you know, there's a lot of
respect we we do. We stilldo a lot of things together, which
is nice. And I know thatthough it will be a time when they

(06:31):
fall in love or they decide thatit's time to move on, and that's
you know, that's natural that they'vestayed way longer than I ever imagined.
But it's it's it's it's a wonderfulway to be right now. Through COVID,
it was great that we could allbe together, and now with Jean's

(06:51):
passing, it's it's like we've kindof cocooned a bit again, and everybody's
doing their own thing, but we'rein it together, you know, living
very separate lives, but we're togetherand the opportunity comes to do things together,
and that's that's kind of awesome too. So that's my life. That's

(07:14):
my story, and I hope thatyou are going to enjoy the rest of
your day. I was talking tomy sister a couple of nights ago,
and we were reminiscing about the olddays. We grew up in a really
crazy neighborhood. Stories stories, storiesto tell, and we sort of we're

(07:36):
talking and reminiscing, and it cameto us that maybe we should do a
podcast about those times. She's veryfunny, and you know that I'm very
funny, So I think we couldbe very funny and be entertaining. So
we're gonna think about that, andyou know, grew up in the beach
neighborhood or the beaches to some peoplein turn, and we thought we could

(08:01):
invite some guests from the old daysto share their crazy things too. It
really was a wild place to growup. We had very interesting neighbors.
We had a lot of experiences thatwe would never share with our mothers.
And you know, the days beforecell phones, the days before any kind

(08:24):
of tracking device, and and youknow, you had to use a payphone
if you wanted to call home, very different time. No computer. We
had typewriters, and I think themost advanced thing we had was a little
calculator that you can operate with alittle sticky thing. You know. I'm

(08:45):
old anyway, so we're thinking aboutthat. That might be kind of fun.
And there's sure are good stories totell and keep alive that way,
right, So anyway, that waskind of a discussion that grew that neither
one of us expected. So we'llsee about that. So let's have a
little prayer to get us off onthe rest of our day. I forgot

(09:09):
to include one last time, butI know people do look for that.
So there's so many people who arehaving issues with health or with family or
relationships, or just you know, supporting people who are having a hard time.
So prayer never hurts us, italways helps. It's our superpower.

(09:31):
So let's have a quick prayer now. Gracious God, we give you thanks
for the gift of this beautiful day. Whether it's rainy and humid or sunny
and bright, we know that blessingscome to us in this day. We
ask for eyes to see and forears to hear the good things that come,

(09:52):
and that we would embrace them andbe lavished by them. We give
you thanks for all the blessings you'rebringing. We pray for those who are
not well at this time, forthose who are under the weather, for
those who are suffering things that aremore serious. We pray that your healing
angels would be with all who arefacing any kind of health issue this day.

(10:16):
And we pray for your holy angelsto go round this world to minister
to all who call upon you inany need or distress, or trial or
trouble. We know that you aremighty, that you are good, and
you bring good wherever you go.No matter how people call you or what
people call you, you are creatorof all. We give you thanks for

(10:41):
that and we pray for ourselves inour various needs and our various wearies and
anxieties, and we pray that youwould speak to us in our hearts,
that we would be given signs ofyour presence with us, that we would
be given assurance of your love everywherewe everywhere we go, And all this

(11:07):
we pray in your Holy name.Amen. Well, thank you for listening
in to my little podcast today. As we're talking, I'm deadheading geraniums,
which is a very good thing.Geranium smell so nice, don't they.
I love the smell of a geranium, kind of spicy, kind of sweet.

(11:28):
Stay with the carnations, they havea similar smell. I use geranium
oil in some of my palms, which makes it kind of pretty pretty smelling.
Anyway, I digress. I'll letyou go and talk to you again
soon. Take care bye,
