ultimately, when your brothers and sistersare having good news, you're having good
news. Sit back, relax andenjoy this. Next guest here with us
today is a bishop s Y Younger. Do they call you sigh Younger or
(00:51):
is sy Younger? Actually he isa preacher, teacher, evangelists, a
lecturer and also a musician and artists. How are you today, Bishop Younger.
I'm doing great and blessed to beon with you today. Twine.
Absolutely, you are so busy. The last time we were to talk,
(01:15):
you were in Israel and you're justtelling me you're getting ready to go to
India. How are you doing itall? You started a church in two
thousand and five and you're fairly youngman, that's what you know. Kind
of took me back. I waslike, he's very young and started a
church in two thousand and five, and you have just been off to the
races since then. It's only byGod's grace. I started my first church
(01:38):
while I was a junior in collegein my apartment, having no idea that
it would spread out like this. But what I do. I serve what's
in front of me. It's whatI tell people all the time. Many
times I've tried to find out whatI can get off my plate. But
now since I feel like my plateis going to be fool I just asked
(02:00):
God to increase my capacity. It'struly done that, He's really done that.
Who your church is called the RampChurch International, I think the first
one in Virginia, right in Virginia. Yes, Ramp Church International pastor the
RAM Church International, and Lynchburg andRam Church DMC and Washington d C.
(02:20):
And the Ram Church some Polo andsome Polo Brazil. And we do have
other Ram Churches all over the countryand in Canada and other places. But
we have you know, seeing othersenior pastors leading those churches. Tell me
about the mission of those churches.Well, people often ask me to wander,
how how did you come up withthe name ramp Well. When we
(02:44):
were looking to start out of everyfirst church, the relator told me,
he says, if you're gonna findour church building, it doesn't have to
be you know, stained glass windows, but it does have to have handcessibility.
He said, you have to havea round so no matter what somebody's
disability is, they can get in. And that stood out to me because
(03:06):
I was going to name my churchLighthouse right or Chicana Tabernacle. That's a
good church, your name, right, But I realized that this church would
be a ministry, and I wantedto have a church that non't matter what
somebody's issue was, the infirmity, everybody can get in. M I love
it. I love it. Ilove it. Then out of this grew
(03:30):
your fellowship one Way, and soyou just kind of blew up from there.
My goodness. Yeah, that againsomething else. It wasn't intentional,
but it definitely was in the mindof God. We started planting churches and
other churches started coming under the umbrellaof our church. And we call it
(03:51):
one Way because we still believe asprogressive as we are and such a pluralistic
culture, we are still preaching Jesus. That's right. Yeah. Yeah,
at the end of the day, that's got to be it. Oh not
ourselves, yeah, absolutely not preachus. We've become we become great celebrities
(04:13):
now and yeah, and well oftentimeswe're marketing our images instead of marketing our
message. And always tell people themerch that we are pushing, the product
that we're pushing, it's the messageof Jesus Christ. And so I get
that's why we said one way churchwe preach, we preach Jesus. So
you created RAMP Records, And nowdoes that feature your artists from within the
(04:41):
ramp or without mostly with them?Right? Well, actually yes, it's
within our fellowship of Churches and thenour local church. We wanted to create
an incubator and an umbrella where peoplein our church could minister and operating the
industry without feeling like that to compromisetheir identity. I love it, and
(05:04):
so we knew we knew that itwould be a safe space. We wanted
Ramp Breakfast as a place where peopleare pastored with their gifts and not just
see owed with their gifts, butpastor. You know, I love that
because even within the gospel industry, and sometimes I say especially in the gospel
(05:27):
industry. One will not feel safewithin the industry. Music business is boy,
it's some kind of business. Butyour first single, which I love
when it came out, still loveand still playing it. The storm is
passing over? Why did you choosethat old hystories sing what Towanda? I
(05:50):
didn't choose it. I didn't chooseit. I did not choose it.
The social media chose it for us. Oh yea. So before we recorded
it, it already went viral. We were in the middle of the We
were in the middle of the pandemic. I was a part of the Governor's
(06:11):
Council of interfaith leaders in our state, and just the news and the restrictions
and the back and forth was becomingexhausting. And then we two years in
and doctor Fauci comes out and says, hey, we haven't seen the worst
of it yet. Don't get comfortable. And I'm like, oh my goodness,
this is depleting. And on oneSunday morning, in the midst of
(06:32):
a praise you know we always havethese declarations and praise chance, I started
saying, the storm is passing over. I started propher signing yeah, And
then I said it won't be longfrom now and having no idea that people
were going to start chopping that upand putting it all over Instagram. In
TikTok, I mean Towanda. Thatwas moments. I was watching videos of
(06:56):
people dancing in TikTok in grocery wars, and I'm like, that's my voice,
that's us, Mama. I madeit right. So when when we
finally prepared to record that we knewwe were recorded, we really didn't have
an option. Uh, the stormis passing over had already taken life itself.
(07:19):
Yes, yes, and I loveit, absolutely love. I say,
oh, they went all school lookat this, So I didn't.
I didn't know the story behind it. But you know what, Hey,
that song carries over generations. Ohman, I you know I was up.
I grew up Pentecostal my daddy's side, Baptist, mama's side, pentecost.
I used to play at the Baptistchurch and the senior choir used to
(07:41):
say, encourage my soul and letus the old m farm. Yes,
and that's Baptist. And the pentecostSociety had that bitshop Ronald Brown and uh
until I kind of messed that togetherwith my trombone player. Yeah, the
church with that song, yes, yes, yes, So the Rampology Volume
(08:05):
one and two, what can weexpect? What do we expect on those
two volumes? Okay, it's calledSounds of the Ramp Rampology and the Study
of the Sound of the Ramp fourroom. Our church is very diverse,
especially the Mother Church, so wedo everything from CCM to sanctify, Apostolic
(08:28):
Gospels stuff. So you're gonna haveeverything from Megan's song, which it's called
Still faithul, which is a songwe wrote after we buried a twenty six
year old girl in our church,I mean the same day. We ended
up writing that song in the middleof worship because we were so heartbroken,
where we said, He's still faithful. Everything to our One Way Anthem,
(08:50):
which is a hymn it's him withfour verses and choruses and everything to the
storm is passing over. So you'llyou'll experience an entire journey of what you
could expect if you were in aram church service. So now as pastor
and you you're wearing many hats thatGod has graced you with, you know,
(09:11):
to be able to do all ofthese things. What's your downtime?
Do you have any downtime What doyou like to do to relax. I
love the water, so Twanda,I have a boat and license, and
so I like to go out ona boat and they have moments. I'm
serious. I go out on aboat and just drop the anchor on a
(09:33):
lake, not an ocean, buton the lake. Drop the anchor and
just lay and just lay on theboat and relax, just be still.
The water refreshes me and just tome. And I like. I love
my family. So because of mytraveling, my grandmother is ninety years old.
(09:54):
So one of my greatest things downtimeis to sit and hear her talk.
Oh yeah, tell me stories aboutour family and tell her tell me
stories about her upbringing. Yeah,I'm serious. I can come out of
those moments and I can just feelenergized and renew because there's a sense of
(10:15):
home for me. And I liketo eat. I love to love.
I love the restaurant. I don'tjust like the food, I like the
experience. Okay, that's awesome. That's awesome. Tell folks how they can
learn more about you. The ministryand the music. The Storm is Passing
Over is the new single and tolearn more about the volumes that are coming
(10:37):
out. Well, they can findour music on all music outlet, so
on Spotify, Apple Music. Ialways encourage people don't just stream it,
download it downloaded and then you canfind me on social media. S Y
Younger. Yes, it's too wisein that I go by my initials because
I have a sister that has mysame exact name. That's a long start,
(11:01):

a hundred. It's a part ofthe mission of our church. It's a
mission field. And so I havea sister that as my same name.
