Speaker 1 (00:02):
Right now, Sean Knight here with the Pew Report, we
have got the big picture. Nick Cotas joined us back
on the show. He is the current the Fire Pro
Wrestling World headweight Champion. Yes, be at Savage Shamrock this
Sunday and Dwight Illinois. You make sure to be there
because he'll be appearing on his birthday. Yes, sir, if

(00:23):
you weren't, If you were at the last show, you
can watch it on YouTube. He has the win over
Reagan Lidell past January as well. And we also have
a news that this past Sunday, I was at attendance,
you became the new Second Wrestling.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Their championship is the Go Go Championship, which is a
pre show championship delegation show.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Ye, that is correct.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
So Alfredo Alpatur was the former champion and now you
have that belt. And uh, you know I was at
Second Wrestling Pure and Holy. And you've also made appearances
at Chicago Style Wrestling and the pre showed the Futures
Battle Royal Honor among Wrestling All Star Luka Libray. I'm
sure there's the other promotions too, Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Sir, I'm popping up all over the place. You never
you never quite know where you're gonna see me.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Definitely. Well, we appreciate you being on p WE and
I want to talk about Second Wrestling. When you got
the call to part of the Go Go Championship match,
How that feel for you? This wasn't an advertised match.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Either, No, it was not. It came about really last second.
I mean, the whole stipulation with the title is you
show up and you can be selected.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
To be a.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Challenger for the title. Right, So yeah, I was free
that day. I decided to pop up. I decided that
on the one year anniversary of Alfredo Alvatar's debut where
I defeated him in the Big Picture Invitational, the infamous
Big Picture Invitational.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yes, I decided to celebrate that with a one year anniversary.
I decided that should beat him again and take his title.
So I did that.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Yes, yes, you did the Big Invitational Big Invitation. That
was about what you said a year ago.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, it was a year ago. At this time, I
was the last time I was on the show.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yeah, but that wasn't your debut though, because you did
a debut the year prior.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Correct.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
I was ushering in the new talent from freelance at
the time, right, and you know, beating him as I should.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Now let's go back and talk about Reagan lightel the
outcome of this match back in January. Gunner Brave got
involved as well, making like he was going to referee,
and so what what's your opinion on this on Reagan
moving forward because she has this match with gun Her Brave.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
And see that's this with people, and people have been
saying that that Gunnar Brave got involved in my match
with Reagan Lydale. I didn't see Gunnar Brave get involved
in my match and see Gunner Bread to get involved
in my match because I compromise to a permanent end
Gunner Brave when I threw his candy ass off a
scaffold back in June and took the Defiant World Championship

(03:10):
from him. So I don't know all this Gunner Brave
talk about him getting involved in my match. I do
see that I allegedly he is facing Reagan Livedale at
the next show. I will have to you know, see
it to believe it. But if that is the case,
then you know, maybe that's a maybe that's the number
one contenders deal for for my championship.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Interesting so you would granted Reagan a rematch, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
I guess if she earns it. I mean, I guess
I don't think she earned the first one. And then
I beat her accordingly. So I if she, if she
wants to get back in the ring with me in
any capacity, that's her. That's her choice, and that's up
to definant management. They want to see me beat away them,

(04:00):
and again that's up to them. So I'll defend my
title against whoever.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
It doesn't matter, right right, And then you've not really
dabbled too much into intergender? Was this one of your
first intergender like matches?

Speaker 2 (04:12):
That?

Speaker 1 (04:12):
This?

Speaker 2 (04:13):
That was? That was my first, uh one on one
intergender match?

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Okay, I think you've done stuff with like Lady Luck
and tag team before or.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
I've never I've I've never faced Lady in any capacity,
but I face like I faced like Reagan in a
fatal four way before.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Okay, I had faced there was somebody else.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
I'm blanking right now on what it was, but I
know that I know that's happened before, so you know,
I I'll do it if I'm asked of it.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
But yes, Men or Women Championship, Equal Rights, Equal lefts
that's what the Big Picture is all about for sure. Now,
this Sunday is your birthday, so talk about defy and
pro wrestling on the birthday. What are we in store for?

Speaker 3 (05:00):
So we are in store for the Big Picture Birthday Bash.
The Big Picture Championship celebration that happened this past.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
August was a glowing success. So we thought, Hey, it's.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
The Big Picture's birthday, let's give him, give him the
night off. Let the rest of them, let them fight
if they want to.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
It's my day. It's my day off.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
I being the gentleman, being the upstanding citizen, being the
champion that I am. Am going to be in attendance anyway,
just to showface, just to have a little bit of fun.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Maybe I'll get on.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
The mic, give the people of Dwight a sermon that
they desperately do not deserve, but they need to hear,
and we'll go from there.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
We'll see what else is in store.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Yeah, we can't wait to see because I mean, there's
a lot of matches already announced. There's some big debuts
come in as well, and any of them could be
potential candidates to be a contender for your match. I'm
sure you'll look.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
At all the matches absolutely, yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
I mean, as champion, you got to see who's climbing
up the ranks, who's climb up the ladder, who wants
to come take what you got?

Speaker 2 (06:07):
So yeah, watching everybody very closely.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Yes, Yes, it's it's a great card and everybody should
come check it out.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Yeah, Defiant Defiance on the come up.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Man.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
We're we're bringing in all the talent. We're bringing in
everybody that.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
We can to you know, you know what's the saying
is like high tides raise all ships. So we've got
to bring in bring in all the all the quality
talent that we can to try to raise Defiant.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Definitely. And you know you were a freelance restling graduate,
so talk about that page how it's open doors for
you in the business.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
You know, I think Freelance has a pretty good reputation
when it comes to their training academy. You know, they
just sold out Logan Square for their most recent student
show this past month, and you know, and good on them.
I think in terms of when you have that kind

(07:08):
of that background, you can kind of throw your name,
like throw your name on that be like, oh this
is where I was trained because you know, it's a
quality equality training academy, and people are going to trust
that you're going to come onto their show and and
give them something of that quality because your.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Name is attached to that.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
So yeah, definitely, definitely, definitely proud of where I came from.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yeah, I mean, you're representing Chicago, but you also like
to go to other promotions and other states.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Yeah. Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
We just did Honor among Wrestling in Bettendorf, Iowa this
past weekend. Previously over the summer, took a trip up
to Milwaukee for Bruce City. I'll yeah, anywhere, anywhere and
everywhere that the big picture can be can be seen,
I'll be there definitely.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
And I'm sure you've got when you were an athlete,
you went to different places as well, so it's for sure. Yeah,
definitely athlete in a different sport is what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Of course.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Yeah, absolutely, And so why are your some of your
favorite opponents so far? For any different reasons?

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Oh, I would say, you know, I would say recently.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
You know, I enjoyed the match that I had with Reagan.
I thought it was a good match.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
The match that I had with Satan Engage and Manny
Cortes at the most recent All Star Lucha Lie Brits show.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
I enjoyed that one as well.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
These are all matches that I'm winning, of course, these
are the ones that Yeah, these are the ones I
enjoyed the most.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
I like working with those guys. I just Stone Ambrose.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Anytime that I get to whoop his ass as a.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Is a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
So yes, yeah, I I I people that I'm familiar
with are are those are the ones that are actually
the most challenging because you have to find new ways
to up the bar from the last time. So those
ones I I look forward to getting back in the
ring with them.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Cody Laye I wrestle with at one of the honor shows.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
That was a that was that was a step up
in competition, a challenge for me.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
So yeah, you and Cody, how did I go? Did
you win?

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Or?

Speaker 3 (09:28):
We will not speak about winners and losers from that evening.
It was a tag match. My shoulders were not pinned
to the mat. We'll say that, okay.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
But yeah, we we will not. We will not litigate
that any further.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
When when you when you go out to the ring
and that music hits, how does it feel going through
your body through the match with the feeling going through
your body like.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
It feels.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
It feels great because I have the best ring music
in independent wrestling today. The big picture is the Big
Picture by t I. That is my music. That is
the best music in all of in all of wrestling
fits me to a t. It is that every lyric
of that song is ingrained in my body and in

(10:14):
my DNA.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
So that's great.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Yeah, that's I feel great every single time. I feel
like I'm going to win and I feel like I'm
going to blow the doors off of whoever is in
the ring with me every time I walk through that
curtain for sure.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
And we had talked to before we started interviewing that
you had been doing stuff with myself Ali the Chicago
wrestling So tell us the little background about that, man.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Yeah, that was.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
That was That was more to cho That was to
challenge myself and it is. It's a challenge. Every time
I had felt myself getting a little bit complacent, so
I felt like I needed to challenge myself. And when
I found out that Ali was opening his own school,
I felt like that was a no brainer to at

(11:03):
least reach out, and you know, every every training session
that we do. You can see him post about it
on social media, like those are those are real time clips?
Like those aren't clips just for you know, to look
pretty on social media to as a marketing mad Like
those are those are really the drills that we're doing,
And whether you can do them or not, you're still

(11:24):
going to have to attempt them.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Yeah. I can.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
I can't physically do a lot of the things that
we have to do, but I still have to go
out there and try it. And that's that that you know,
takes me out of my comfort zone. Uh, whenever I'm
in those training sessions, I'm in a constant state of
being blown up.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
For people who don't know what that means. I mean,
it's just out of breath.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
But yeah, just it's it's very exhausting, but it's also
very rewarding and I yeah, I mean like Ali, Ali
makes you earn it like.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
It is what it is. So it's very, very difficult,
but very rewarding.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Well, it's it's interesting that Ali is doing this school
and it's coming at a time that there's something called
the w B I D Program And you were you
were at this show Second Wrestling. There was a couple
of b I D individuals. So did you square them up?
But did you you know what I mean, how was
your feeling towards them?

Speaker 3 (12:24):
You know, uh, they were they were cool. Gal was great,
Jack Cartwheel was great. Both both great dudes, great looks,
great entering, great on the mic. Like, that's why they
That's why they're in the position that they're in, That's
why they got that That's why they got that contract
is because they're well rounded professional wrestlers. Seeing Yeah, I mean,

(12:46):
sharing a locker roo room with them is is is
pretty cool. But at the same time, it's like sharing
a locker room with anybody else. I I, as a
professional wrestler, have to believe that I'm on the same
level as and no matter what, and I do believe
on the same level as them.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
What people agree with me or they don't, that's not
really my concern.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
But whether I share in a locker room with you
or not, I if I My goal is that I
want to be in the ring with those people.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Sure, I want to show what I can do. I
want to show that.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
I want to show that they might have the contract,
but they're not the big picture.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
I get you. I mean, maybe one day you might
have a chance of us Mustafa. We'll see what happens
and when when he's uh, you know, telling you things
and breaking down things. Is it like stuff that you
can like go back and review or is it like
kind of like really hands on where you don't really
have that luxury.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
It's it's really hands on. But that's also a good thing.
That's how I learn personally. I learned through trial and error.
So if you know, we do something in training and
I the attention to detail is is a very large
component of the training with Ali because he's a perfectionist
and I'm I'm a perfectionist, and so I like to

(14:05):
be even though I may feel like I do something
correct or do something that's you know, good enough, he
sees it through a different lens. And it's good to
have that perspective and good to have a trainer that's
not going to blow smoke up your ass and who's
going to.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Be like, yeah, that was okay, but you did this,
this this wrong. Fix it.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
By doing this, you know you're going to hurt yourself
if you're doing it this way or so on and
so forth. So that's why I mean, that's why I mean,
like Ali is he is who he is. He's his
training style is very unique when it comes to Chicago
wrestling training because I've been everywhere. I've been to freelance,

(14:51):
I've been to CSW, I've been to Ali School, so
I yeah, it's it's a one of one experience for sure.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Well that's that's great. It's you're able to adapt and
keep moving. And I'm sure a lot of other talents
are seen from the freelance. I think they're helping out
as as uh you know, well, what do you call
aids or or whatnot?

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Right? Oh? Yeah, yeah, yeah, they have.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
There's a couple of guys that came from freelance that
help Ali with like the beginners classes and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
So oh okay, it's cool. Yeah, I know. I've seen
Gonzalez Alfonso there as well.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
And he's got a big match of course this Sunday too,
the Green Ky Challenge. What do you think about it?

Speaker 2 (15:34):
The GA Cock?

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Absolutely, that's uh.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
That's a staple attraction of every Defiant show going forward,
is uh the Gcock. Uh, It's it's always the first
match of the card, and it's always a tone setter
for what the what the day is going to behold.
That's the match that I look forward to more than
any of them, even even maybe more than my own sometimes.

(15:58):
But well have to see you never know who's gonna
answer the challenge.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Yeah, that that's for sure as well.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Yeah, he's been putting up the Freelance Underground Championship on the.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Line too, So okay, yeah, so it's a it's a
big opportunity for somebody.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Oh it is, Yeah, for sure, get there, get get
yourself known, and and you know, get yourself a place
in the show.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
Now do you look up to any other anyone else
in the business right now? It doesn't necessarily have to
be any wrestler, but it could be anyone that's in
the wrestling business.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Yeah, I look.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
I look up and I look to take inspiration from
a bunch of people. I would say I take I
draw inspiration from more outside sources that from wrestling. I
look at athletes and other sports. I you know, my
favorite athletes.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
I mean it's.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
You know, well Noted how Big with Kobe Bryant, guy
IM So that's where I drop a lot of my
inspiration from, you know, the Bryce Harper more, you know,
other other athletes just like that. I mean there's wrestlers too,
Like obviously I'm a big sampunk guy, big bigger Roman

(17:18):
reigns guy. So you know, you look at those guys
that are at the top of the industry where you
want to be. You take take whatever you can from
watching them and apply it to your own and make
it your own.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
So for sure, have you ever done like the extra
stuff for extra work for WU.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
I have not had the luxury of doing a extra
work for w W. I did extra work for New Japan.
I did not do extra work for w W E
yet that is a It's.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
On the bucket list.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Hopefully Game's got my email so whenever he whenever he
wants to hit me up, he can for sure.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
How how did a New Japan opportunity to go?

Speaker 2 (17:55):
It was fun?

Speaker 3 (17:56):
It was it was again, it was an It was
an opportunity that came through Mustafa Ali, So.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
That was it was a cool opportunity.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
You know, you get to see kind of you can
see a show on that scale through a different lens
when you're backstage and you're absorbing it that way, so
you're you know, you're.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Backstage with all the talent and you got your.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Own room and going over what you're going to be
doing and all that other, all.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
That good stuff.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
So it was it was a cool It was a
cool experience, like I definitely look forward to doing it again.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Would you ever did you ever think about maybe going
to Japan one day?

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Yeah? Absolutely, I would love to go to Japan one day.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
That would be I think that would be one of
one of the things on the very very top of
the bucket list to do visiting Japan as a country
just in general, it'd be something that I would want
to do. And being able to go there and wrestle
somewhere that's wrestling is such a.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Prominent outlet that Yeah. Absolutely, that's definitely something that's on
the bucket list.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
And what's your advice for any pro wrestling frames that
want to make it?

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Oh, I've been asked this question a couple of times,
and my answers have been progressively getting more mean, I think,
so h The same answer that I gave the last
time was just be realistic with yourself. There's a lot
of people, a lot of people that get into wrestling

(19:30):
with no prior athletic background, no, no prior they don't
work out, they don't.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
They don't do.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Anything, and they just watch wrestling and for some reason
they think because they watch wrestling on TV, they can
go do it.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Doesn't work. It does not work that way.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
You have to be you have to be honest with
yourself and really assess your capabilities, because not only only
you know, beyond just hurting yourself, you're gonna hurt somebody
else that you're in the ring with. Outside of that,
I mean, if you have if you if you check

(20:09):
all the boxes and you can do it, and you
can and you have goals of you know, being something
in wrestling, then by all means fucking do it, like
have fun with it and you know, but the same
rules apply is just be realistic with yourself, not everybody.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Everybody, Not everybody can main event WrestleMania one day.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
It's good, it's good to have that goal if you want,
but again, be realistic with yourself.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
You know, yeah, set set good, set attainable goals.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
I would say, right, yeah, you get you're giving them
the whole.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Picture, yes, yeah, nothing less than the big picture.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Yeah. And then is there anything that you'd like to
do outside of pro wrestling? I challenge yourself physically, any
kind of challenge or and then you're you're definitely a
you know, accomplished athlete outside of you know, you're outside
of the business.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
I would love, not necessarily something that's like physically, but
I would love to get into like acting. Okay, I
think that would be cool. I think obviously, you know,
wrestling is kind of a an outlet of entertainment as
it is an outlet of entertainment in its own right.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
And you know, we are you know, we are acting.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
So I think, you know, acting on a broader scale
acting and you know, TVs, movies, commercials, whatever or whatever
it is. I think that's something that I would be
interested in doing because that I feel like that's something
that appeals to.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Me for sure. And then if anybody wanted to check
out your matches or or where where where you think
you're the hottest right now in any promotion, because I
know you're an on along wrestling.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Yeah, well.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
So I would say it's interesting.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
So I'm obviously the heavyweight champion that defy it.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
I'm the guy there, so if you want to see
me in all my glory, that's probably where you would
want to go. All star loucha Libre, I defend my
Defiant Heavyweight Championship at All Star Lucha Libre every show.
So okay, so that's that. Those are more title defenses
under the belt. So you can come see me there,
you can come see me. I mean, hey, Second Wrestling,

(22:21):
I'm I'm a champion. I'm a championship holder there now too,
So you never know what's gonna happen with Second Wrestling.
We got a show coming up in May.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Might want to keep your eyes peeled out for that one. Anywhere,
I mean, I'm you know.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
I'm constantly I'm constantly trying to broaden my horizons. I'm
trying to go anywhere and everywhere, So anywhere that any
wrestling company that's in the Chicago area or even in
the surrounding states. You never know where you're going to
see the big picture.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Yes, that's a great answer, and then you know it
keeps the fans wanting more. Absolutely, and yes, I appreciate
you again Nick being on the PW report. I'll see
it to the fine Pro Wrestling. It's your birthday. So
what do you expecting fans to do for you? Is
there any request?

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Yes, actually there's there. This is my list of requests
for my birthday. I'm throwing a party, bitches. Only if
any dudes come, I'm shooting you in the head.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Okay, not your shot.

Speaker 2 (23:27):

Speaker 4 (23:29):

so make sure to check it out to find Pro
Wrestling and Sunday, make sure to check out All Star
Luta Libra, which is gonna be on the twenty ninth
of March as well, and uh and any other promotions
that are popping up.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Check out the big Picture, Nick Cotis, and we appreciate
you being on the PW Report. And if there's anything
you like to say, go ahead. If you want to
plug anything, go ahead.

Speaker 2 (23:56):

Speaker 3 (23:56):
Follow me on Instagram and on Twitter at Nick Cotis
on score. That's where I'll be posting any and all
information on matches coming up, shows that I'll be on
any other sort of content that I like to post,
my my photo dumps and all that good stuff. So yeah,
just follow me on there and that's how that's how

(24:17):
you're always going to see the big picture.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
All right. Well, appreciate you being on the PW board.
Well at the Savage Shamrock Shakedown too, we saw that
Nick Cotis came out with this Defiant Pro Wrestling World Championship.
He came out and confronted both the OC and Candace,
the owners of the company, and then proceeded to take

(24:44):
out Doc. We later learned that a match would be
made for Nick Cotis, Reagane, Lydell, and Gunnar Kine, who
were originally scheduled to face each other one on one,
that Nick Cotis would defend his championship against both of
them in the main event. And what a hard hitting
contest it was. Gunner Kane and Nick Cotas kind of

(25:07):
double teamed on Reagan who even up the odds. She
connected with a double pounce and really set the tone,
taking out both competitors multiple times. However, at the end
of the night, she connected with a pump handles slam
on Gunnar Cane, only to have Nick Ktis come in
throw her out of the ring and he stole the victory.

(25:29):
Nick Cotis is still the Defiant Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion.
We will find out June twenty second what is next
in store for the big picture Nick Cotis. But he
gets it done on his birthday at the Savage Shamrock
Shake Down two at Defiant Pro Wrestling this month.
