Speaker 1 (00:02):
And Sean Lang here with EWE Report and we are
proud to have Robert Ego Anthony join us for the
first time on the recorded podcast. I've had him on
Instagram live and he's talking about the upcoming show for
Ego Pro Wrestling Battle at the Dome, which features his
match with Chico Suave. And currently we know him as
(00:23):
the AAW Heritage Champion, had a big fight with Raphael
Cantaro last month, earlier this month and aa W will
be back next month. And we also know you made
your CSW return. That's your debut, Okay, I wasn't sure
your debut right that. That was huge. So welcome on
(00:46):
PWE Report and you know, talking about how you're feeling
going into this weekend for EGO Catch.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Had a crazy time.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
I had to get band aids, my kids fell off
his schooner, oh no, mocked himself up. So I'm I'm
in a predicament here this fine evening at nine o'clock
at night. But yeah, man, April twenty sixth, this Saturday,
when is this coming up?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
I'm gonna try and get this out tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Right, So two days this Saturday, we go to the
Dome via Papamagos here in Shorewood, Illinois. The first time
wrestling has came to the fabulous city of show Or.
It's not Joe yet, but it's damn near close to it.
(01:32):
This is a very ambitious project of mine because the
dome is ginormous. August Matthews keeps calling it the Tokyo
Dome because of how big it is. Right, But we're
gonna block off a section. We're gonna start small at
the dome and if this thing grows, then we can
(01:55):
move into the bigger side of the dome. But I okay,
but if you haven't gotten your ticket yet, they are available.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
As of this recording.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
There are six third row seats left front row and
second row is sold out.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
And then we have this first time ever thing. I'm
not a.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Drinker, but Papa Magoo's is offering an open bar package
from the from doors open till the show is over,
which is pretty wid that right. So so yeah man,
April twenty sixth, we're gonna we're gonna try to create
something new, yes for sure. And Ego Pro in the
past has been really innovative. It's really evolved since a
(02:33):
year ago when it began.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, man, like we're going on.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Yeah, about two years on this crazy ride in In
the last two years, I feel we did a lot right.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
At first it was just baseball shows.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Then it became the Winnie City Thunderbolts Baseball and then
we did the shows at Navarro Farm, then the Forge,
and then now a year later, we have the Joliette Slammers.
We have Olympia Fields, you know what I mean, Now
the Dome. I have some other things in the works
(03:09):
that I can't talk about, but like we're moving like
we're bringing a fun, like different atmosphere to an already
like act independen scene, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Definitely, and we're excited to see all the matches take place,
including your match with Chico. You guys, I really go
at it every time. It seems personal. Here's a spoiler alert.
Be and Chico are the main event on the Dome.
It's going to be a fight. This man won't stop
(03:42):
talking about the Luca lunch. But yeah, that will be
the main event of the show for the evening. Is
Cheeko versus myself. Were's some surprises for that one. Okay,
let's cool, so you can maybe some run ins unexpected or.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I mean anything can happened. Yeah, anything happened.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
And when Papa Magoo Venue opened up, talk about having
an opportunity to hold this event under their dome, like
this is like your WrestleMania for for Ego pro.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
I think that the Forge is my WRESTLEMANIAKA right, because
the Forge is what started all this, right, it took
a chance, and the Forge took a chance on me,
and like the last one, we had KOFE Kingston on it.
So like like that is where I think all roads
(04:33):
end to the Forge every single year. That's my plan, right,
everything we do throughout the year is going to build
to the Forgeka.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
This Papa Magoo's.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Thing is a a happy pit stop before the summer.
And if it turned this into something that I could
see Papa's being a multi year event twice a year
or something. But my theory is I don't want to
burn out, right, So I don't want to run every
(05:07):
single month, and I think that kind of burns out
a lot of fans and a lot of like a lot.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Of hype, do you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
So Papula Magoo's via the sports Dome here, it's my
plan is to do it once or twice a year
and make it super special. But every show that we
do will lead to the Forge. I spoiler, I do
have a Forge date booked. I'm not announcing it yet
(05:36):
because I'm waiting on a few things because, like I said.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
I throw everything the Forge.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
I'm not gonna be able to top Kovie Kingston, but
I'm gonna try, you know what i mean, Like that
last Barge show was something special. It was wwe sent
Kobe Kingston contract to talent, a EW sent top like
Top Contract Talent, Bend JDC contract Talent. I'm very proud
(06:06):
to say that that Ford show had all three companies
currently contract talent under one independent roof. And I don't
think that'll happen again, but I'm gonna try.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Okay, Hey, there's no point and not trying, right, I mean,
you can top list.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
I'm telling you right now.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
My reason why I'm not announcing the Ford Jet because
I have big ambitions and I'm waiting for yeses and no's.
Because if I could pull off one, I want to
puff it'll be just as special as last year. But
for sure, but that's last year we're talking about in
two days from now, April twenty six, this Saturday.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Did you get your ticket?
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Yes, yes, got your ticket? I do. Oh, okay, yeah,
I'll be there.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Yeah, we'll be from Rowan and we're govern excited because
you know, a woman wrestling is hotter than ever, So
why does EGO pro offer some of the women's matches?
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Right?
Speaker 3 (07:02):
So I always say, okay, so my daughter is five,
and every show I want at least one to two
women's matches on the show.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
It is a good representation this event.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
There's a triple threat. And the reason why there's not
two girls matches on the show is because of Squared
Circle Expo. A lot of people are booked and I
couldn't get I couldn't get what I wanted, right, So,
so we have Reagan Lidell, we have Amena and Lily
Pescaida and they're gonna tear it up.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
It's gonna be an amazing night.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Yeah, for sure. All three names are pretty recognizable in
the Chicago wrestling scene in the Midwest.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Always, I'm super proud of them, super proud of how
they've grown as performers and people, and they're putting on
killer matches. And then we then we got the regulars.
You know, I mean my my personal favorite, my gambling
friend Solomon Tupoo. Uh you know what I mean, his
whole Iowa car will be there. And then we got
the you know, the bullies that are Coda Hernandez and
(08:13):
Alfonso Gonzalez who bullied me every week.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I'm potting with Ego.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
And then the ros Singles, Matches, Ryan Matthews, who I
think the world of Trip Jordi, who Solomon Tupoo keeps
trying to convince me as a terrible person.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
He will be on the show.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
And then we have you know, everyone's friend Chico, who
I am going to obliterate for sure.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
And like you said, because of this SCX, he can't
have not just the female names, but also the male names.
Like a Trevor Outlaw probably not available.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Right right, Yeah, you know Trevor.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Trevor was supposed to be on my show, but yeah,
he had Squared Circle. I had a few guests that
I wanted to get on the show, but I'm not
gonna say who the guest was. I was gonna fly
in someone for the Dome, but there was flight issues.
(09:08):
I couldn't get them to Chicago because of where they
were the day before there was no direct flights to Chicago.
And the reason why I'm not going to announce that
name is because we're going to bring that person to
the Forge this year and I won't and I have
a whole video package that I wanted to do to
(09:28):
make it special. So I don't want to spoil who
that person is. But they were going to come to
the Dome. But like I just logistically, even if I
spent fifteen hundred dollars on a flight, I still couldn't
get them to Chicago on time. Like the flight was
like when I booked it, it would say they would
arrive at five PM plus twenty hours, like there was
(09:50):
twenty hour layovers.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Wow, it just didn't make sense.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
But when when that does, when that deal does come together,
will be at the Forge.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
It will be.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Special, it'll be fun. So so it's just our crew,
you know what I mean. I'm pretty happy with the
ticket sales. I was worried for a while about the draw,
but now that WrestleMania is over, my email is going
off with tickets. I'm pretty happy about it. We're projecting
(10:19):
right now as of because I just checked right now,
north of two hundred and forty people, So I'm super
happy about that. This damn third row won't sell out.
I want if you're thinking about coming, there's six seats left,
sell out this damn third row.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Man.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
I would really appreciate that because because I think that'll
look amazing. And then general mission and then the VIP.
All you can drink is a front row ticket that
we have blocked off. So it's gonna be a special night, man,
and I'm gonna do everything I can to make it special.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Definitely, are you gonna be the heated person in this
match with Tigo? Because I mean a lot of people
they come, they support, they love you, But are you
looking to get heat in this match or you don't
know yet?
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Listen, I'm a baby facing Joliet. I can't stop that.
That's the hometown. This show is in Shorewood. It ain't Joliet. Well,
I'm not going to be a good guy here. Nice
be a good guy here.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
People front row have to watch out.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Then oh my goodness, Hey, you know what's crazy?
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Front row?
Speaker 2 (11:26):
You guys get your own waitress. I haven't.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
I haven't really announced that, Like there's gonna be front
front and second row get their own waitress. This is
pretty pretty new and weird, right, So I'm just trying
to do I'm trying to do something different.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
That's cool, man. I can't wait to hear more about
this because I feel like, you know, with what you're
doing is you're you're helping the Chicago talent kind of
like brought in get better. And we've seen the W
I D Program do that for talent nationwide. So do Yeah,
you were part of the WWE developmental before. So do
you think that they will develop TV talent for yours
(12:00):
come with this process?
Speaker 2 (12:02):
What are you asking? Say it again? Your question?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
W E I D Program, How do you think it
will develop the TV talent for years to come?
Speaker 3 (12:10):
I don't know too much about the ID program. All
I know it's a gateway to NXT, right, so I
think that this is good for independent names and to
get their foot in the door to start training at
(12:33):
the performance center. As far as getting ready for TV,
I mean anything helps with that. It's all about who
the coaches and who's giving these people the information they need.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
But I think ID is just built on seeing who's
out there.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
And keeping an eye on them to see if they're
ready to go to the to the NX. But time
will tell on that, right because if you have, you
noticed they haven't signed anyone new lately. There was that
giant influx of people and now they're just kind of
at a halt because I think that they're just watching
what they have. And unfortunately, the way this business goes
(13:18):
is that nine of these people that got those contracts
are gonna get either let go or get brought up
to NXT and then they're gonna do a whole nother
round of wb I D talent, you know what I mean.
That's just the turnaround the way this works. Some people
make it, some people don't, you know what I mean.
(13:39):
If wrestler A, I don't want to put anyone blast,
but if wrestler A in November got the WWA contract
November this year, they might not have it again if
they didn't perform the way they wanted to. So it's
a it's game of throne sometimes, Well we'll find out
what it's all news.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Yeah, and you know, and of course Kylie does it,
but you know gets in there for Chicago, right right.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
We're always rooting for the people that we know personally. Sure,
you know what I mean, because you have a personal
investment in that you watch them struggle through wrestling in
front of ten people to one hundred to two hundred
to four hundred and now this bigger stage. You want
to say you were there from day one, you know
(14:28):
what I mean? Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
I wanted to give you a chance to plug your podcasts.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Potting with Ego, right, yeah, Potting with Ego available wherever
you get your podcasts. Myself and co hosts Coda Hernandez
and Alfonso Gonzalez. If you're into them bullying a forty
two year old man every single Friday, go ahead and
tune in. My wife was even on one of the
episodes and they got hurt of bully me. And I'm
(14:56):
not digging this new format, but apparently other people are.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Every time we record, it's a new way to make
fun of me.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
But we do tell a lot of different stories and
some fun conversations are had.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
This Friday's episode is with Chico.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
He returns to the podcast, and we kind of interviewed
Chico and talked about talked with.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Him and and uh, and then.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
That's what we're gonna do, and then next week's podcast
will all be all about those guys being in Vegas
and and the Dome, right, so how successful that turns
out to be? But yeah, so if you're into uh
me getting made fun of potting with Ego wherever you
get your your podcast today, for sure you've had.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
A lot of good ones, including you had Danny Daniels
and you had Mike pegavist A. So that brought me back.
It's a longtime piano.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
People talk about those two episodes with high regard. A
lot of people said they loved the interview with Danny
and Mike.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Yeah, same here. And we've recently lost Steve Mango McMichael.
Can you talk about memories of him.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
That was today? Yeah, that sucked.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
I love Steve Mongo McMichael, and I was I'm a
huge fan of him as a person. The first time
I met him was because we had a mutual friend
by the name of Joe Gomez. Now, Joe Gomez looks
exactly like Steve macom McMichael if you go to YouTube
(16:26):
and type in Joe Gomez WCW. Uh he was a
WCW jobber, but he was over with all the boys.
Everyone loved him.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
I met him.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
I met Joe Gomez when I was living in Tampa
and he's the most caring I me and him were
texting today about my Mango.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
He's the most caring, amazing person in the world. And
he just happened to be a really good friends with Mango.
So when I had the chance to meet Mago in Chicago,
I was like, Hey, I'm friends with Joe Gomez, and
he's like, fuck. And then that's how me and Mongo
kind of striped up a good friendship. And every time
I met Mango out somewhere, like I would meet him
(17:04):
at a bar, he'd be randomly at a bar. One
of the photos I post we meet him, we're backstage
guests at a casino for a draft party, and then
another one was I randomly saw him at a restaurant.
And the last time we saw each other, we took
a photo at the restaurant and we're talking about wrestling,
We're talking about Joe Gomez, and he goes, hey, check
(17:26):
this out, and he pulled up a two minute YouTube
video of all Mango McMichael Michael's botches. Someone making a
YouTube video messing up moves and he's just laughing after
every botch, and we sat there and watched this video
for two minutes. And Mango is the definition of meet
(17:48):
the people you idolize, because he never disappointed. When I
was doing my YouTube show, which is not around anymore,
he did the intro to the YouTube show. He always
had time to talk with me about wrestling and and
the people we had mutual friends with and uh and
and unfortunately he lost his battle today.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
But he fought hard.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
Man, he fought hard, and a lot of people, uh,
a lot of people that know him are going to
miss him. So for me, it's team m Team Mango
McMichael forever.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Yeah, definitely well put. And then when you had the
chance to surprise people at CSW, do you feel like
that's missing today's wrestling? Is that you know that surprise?
I feel like with social media, last stuff gets announced
or league.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Yeah, we really keep that a secret. That was pretty fun.
Uh missic Kate was supposed to be in my position.
It was supposed to be missing Kate and she ended
up having to do something else and uh CSW called
and they said, hey, you want to come in.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
I said, I'm only coming in if I'm doing something
with Tupu and they go.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
Well, actually, here's what you're doing, and I said, you
know what I'm in because right now to Tupu is
my favorite wrestler in person in the world right now.
And uh And to be perfectly honest, if they said
I was doing anything else, I wouldn't have came. Si
as long as I'm doing something, who I'm gonna come?
(19:19):
And uh and it was my first time at CSW
is fun. That venue is is outrageous. It's wild man.
You guys packed that place and uh and I need
good time.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
I wrestled the Boz.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
You know who's gonna be The boz is coming to
the Dome.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Oh he is.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, He's coming to hang out.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
He messages me.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
He messages me today, he goes, hey, can I come
and hang out at the Dome? I said, absolutely so
the Boz. The Boz will be in attendance at the
Dome hanging out.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Wow that day.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
That's great news right there.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Man.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Hopefully you and will mix it up one day and
a singles a fair.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
I have plans for the bo Zka.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
And I'm not going to spoil them, but trust me,
he is on my list to do some fun stuff
with for sure.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Well, if there's anything you else do you like to
plug besides Ego Pro.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
You don't go.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Ahead, No, that's it.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Man at Ego Pro Chicago on all socials, Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter at Ego Pro Chicago.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
If you're thinking about.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Going to a show this weekend, come on over to
us Shorewood at the Tokyo Dome. The link is in
the bio on all the socials. Come hang out with us.
It's going to be a party afterwards. There's two options.
Either we're gonna hang out at Papa Magoo's which is
attached to the Dome, or we're going to Harris Casino Joliet.
(20:41):
And so those are the only two options. But I'm
letting you know, nobody's going home early. If you go
to random independent shows after the shows, the wrestlers are
gone right At my shows, they stick around for good
or bad. You have good when we're hanging out of
(21:02):
Papla good or bad because we're hanging out the casino.
It's gonna turn good. So grab those tickets and then
we'll see everyone on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
We'll see you on Saturday, Yes, for sure, we'll see
you on Saturday, Robert, and make sure to get your
tickets for Battle at the Dome. Ego Pro Wrestling this Saturday.
Make sure to see Chico and Ego Anthony battle it
out in the main event and will be there live.
And before I let you go, can you do me
a quick favor and do a quick shout out for
the PWE Report.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Is that cool?
Speaker 1 (21:31):
I'm gonna stop this recording and start a new one.
Is that cool?
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Yeah,
