Speaker 1 (00:01):
Well, Shawn Knight here with a PWE report, and we
are honored to have the Freelance Wrestling World Champion Bonzo Gonzales,
a leader of Team Gonzales, and make sure to check
him out right now on a PW report. He's having
that championship goal. How heavy is that thing? Dude?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
This thing, I'll tell you what, man, even with the
reconstructed shoulder surgery, it's still pretty heavy. Yeah. I didn't
go to college, so I'm not I'm not exactly sure
how many pounds or whatnot or stone or whatever they
say in the UK, but it's pretty heavy. But it's
pretty cool to have small price to pay.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Okay, well, talk about we want to talk about You're
gonna defend that championship belt against Calda Hernandez. He's your
friend of me, right, you guys are right an Enemies
Freelance Legacy Championship. Would that also be on the line
on the twenty second or now?

Speaker 2 (00:56):
No, actually that's not. We will be recording uh a
little sit down interview soon, I believe, but I can
let you know now that belt will not be online.
This match is strictly for the Freelance Wrestling World Championship
February twenty second, already sold out, Tope suis to Squad.
But if you can't make it, you got iw TV

(01:18):
watch the stream. You could see it.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
There first Ture. But why wouldn't people want to be
there live? I mean, that's that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
I hey man, it's a hot selling ticket. Like bro,
we've sold out so many shows this year that we're
already selling tickets for April. Just getting a jump on that.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
I hate that.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, it does everything off, No, for sure, exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, I know, buy tickets for again.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Yeah, No, there's a lot. And I believe March I
believe will be at Emporium. Okay, uh, that's why we're
doing April because Imporium you got to buy those tickets
to their website.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
I believe that's true.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
So I believe that's I believe that's why we're going
to April for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Well, Tope Swiss, the Squad is in Locus scored a
tourm that's the evening show. You're also scheduled for the
upcoming Academy show Guardans of the Academy.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
The same day. That's the same day. I'll be right
before Tope Suicidas Squad. This will be the third student
show freet Nance Wrestling Academy is run. Very first show,
I was out injured, but I was on commentary the
entire show. Second show, I was in a triple threat
with isaiahs. Felaskis, who's now one of my best friends. Obviously,
you know he's got my bag. I got his and

(02:29):
Angela Sclera and I won that match. So I plan
on keeping my winning ways going student show Guardians of
the Academy. Look, I got a Guardians of Galaxy to
one of my favorite movies. So good.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
That was the best one.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, I love it, dude, I got a bunch I would.
I would flip around my my camera and show you
some other stuff. I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm
in my underwear. Yeah, I'm not gonna We're not gonna
do that.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Oh oh my goodness. Jordan Cross love to hear that.
He always accuses me of doing podcasts about pants. I
don't know why.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
I think he just wants to see you with your
pants off. The punk rock Prince wants to see Sean
Lennon pantless.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
He's always he's just like you know, I don't know what.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
It's an obsession, for sure, it is.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
So yeah, let's talk about the sold out shows back
to back. And we've also wrestled for Ego Pro a
couple of big matches to them Defiant Pro. Yeah, I
think you did? You have you wrestled for them pretty
regularly or or is that just.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yeah, No, I've done that. This is my third show there.
I've I've become a mainstay there to where every show
opens with me on the mic calling out I have
to thing called the Green Kid Open Challenge or g
COCK for short. We're all Fons and Gonzales. I defend
my underground freelance under around independent title because that's the

(03:58):
whole purpose of that belt is to defended on any
independent you can. So I've been defending that at defying
every opening contest. I have yet to lose. I would
grab the belt, but it's over there and I'm too
lazy and I don't want to, you know everything.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
So yeah, yeah, that was another championship. Lady Luck held
that store.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Wes Barkley for Wes Barkley had it for like a
second and then she go cash in his check and
won it.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
And then now you have it.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yes, I beat Chico at Hot Sauce West and.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
A freelance underground championship that hasn't been defended in a
long time.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
No, not in a minute, Shane Mercer. But I don't know.
I have a good feeling it might be defended at
some point this year. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Yes, that guy is an intimidating force. H Yes, you've
got in a ring with him. How did you have
to cite yourself up? You've rustled it before.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yes, I have a freelance underground dude, I explained this
to I believe Davy Bang. It's like, you know that
feeling like when you were like a really little kid
and adults and just pick you up. I haven't had
that feeling in like in like twenty years. And then
when I wrestled Shane Mercer, I'm like, oh, I'm a child,
Like I'm defenseless. I'm like, you throw me around and

(05:10):
pick me up as whenever he wants. And he ended
up beating me taking the movesone battery, not gonna lie.
It felt like a roller coaster until we landed and
then I was like, oh and then he beat me.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Yeah, Yeah, it's like that upside down ride. I went on,
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
It felt fun for a second and then we landed.
I was like, you got the.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Three three sixty man at the Carnivals.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, exactly. Did you see though? Logan Pole hit it
on Raw and they actually shouted out Shane Mercer, Yes.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
That I was watching that. But that's awesome though.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
That's super cool.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
That is and that's that shows you where is kind
of reaching. We'll talk about that later. No, we've also
seen your Iron Spirit Pro and you just had a
big match there recently.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
You have lost, Yeah, I lost? Yes, whatever?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Was that a debut for Iron Spirit?

Speaker 2 (06:02):
No? No, No, I've been. I've been. I've wrestled there
before I got hurt. It was kind of a regular
there and I got hurt. And I think it's been
almost maybe probably closing in on close to a year
since I've come back. I did all their summer shows
because in the summer they take a break from their
mainstay and Bloomington normal and they kind of tour around

(06:25):
southern Illinois, like we were in Teaking, we were in Peoria.
Just a bunch of different spots, whether it be like
soccer games, baseball games, circuses wherever, sweet Corn Circus, at
ISU festivals and whatnot. So I was able to. I
was very I had a blast doing like all the

(06:45):
summer shows with them, and then now they're back in
their mainstay venue and Bloomington normal. So I wrestled the
Angel there and then I just recently lost a title
match for the Downstate Championship to Shane Ouche Shambushe Bemi
a great guy too. He's so funny.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah he is. He's a guy from Chicago Style Wrestling.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Yes he is w I in a W two.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Yeah, he's very talented. Gimmick and Elvis.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Talk funny, but yeah he does.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah, that's awesome. So I I mean talking about this
last year, like maybe the second half of the year. Right
we were we had on a PWE report. We were
talking about how things have gone your favor. You have
one You came off that scramble match in September, you
got the victory there, and then you you faced off
against Dirty Dango and Ego Pro in since then, you're

(07:39):
like nearly unbeatable.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah. Man, talking about how much can change in like
one year. He's like, we need to start from the
beginning of the year. I believe the first show last
year of Freelance, I lost to Dan the Dad, and
then I lost a triple threat to Coder Hernandez and
Chelson McKenzie last February. Uh, now, just look at a
year out. I'm gonna be defending my title against Coda

(08:03):
Hernandez like I eat me a year ago. And honestly,
I was just on the losing end of so many
scrambles and then like I was like enough is enough,
and I finally was able to turn the tide. And
I'm not sure exactly which one, but I ended up winning.
I believe it was September. I think you said I
won the scramble. Yes, since September with Davy Bang, Mason, Morgan, Laaney, Luck,

(08:29):
Sam Holloway, Darius Latrell, myself and then Freelance Wrestling brings
this red Star Medallion concept in inaugural one, before the
rules were officially set, we just had a one off
match for it and I was victorious there October the
next month, I had that thing for not too long.
What beat Reagan lie dallat Imporium that November December? Not

(08:53):
at all, dude, deceivingly hard chopper, Dude, would you would
not think that she's like, well, if you look at
ring and you wouldn't be like, oh, her chops are killer,
but dude, she's got those long fingers, long bony fingers.
They fell like knives. Dude, horrible, And then she has
to have it every time we wrestled. The very first
chop she always gives me is like right on the throat.

(09:14):
Oh she gets to me lower, but yeah, beat her.
And then December the big match with Santana Jackson, a
huge dream match I wanted to have beat him, and
then I wasn't even done that day, cash in the
Red Star Medallion, becoming the Freelance Wrestling World Champion.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
This huge right here? How was that? So let us
go back, because let's go back against with Santana Jackson, Like,
what a match did you have that was so much
fun to watch? Was that fun for you to be
in the match with him?

Speaker 2 (09:47):
It was fun. I was terrified to see a man
turn into a werewolf in front of my eyes. It
was great. No, because I'm a huge, huge fan of
Michael Jackson. He's got to be one of my favorite
musical artiers a whole time, and I love pro wrestling obviously,
so like, why this is a Yeah, it's it's clear
a clear opponent I would want to wrestle and finally

(10:07):
got the opportunity at Freelance Wrestling in a sold out
crowd too, so packed, so thankful for the fans that
that show. We're giving everybody so much love and so
much energy, such a blasters, Like there's like so many
moments in that match. They're gonna like stick with me
forever for sure.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
I was even by my usual seat, I was, I
was in the standing room, but I love Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Do you like the baby getting thrown off the belloty?

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Yeah, that's that's viral, man. That that that is I get.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
I get likes on that video every day and it
doesn't bother me. But I'm like, I'm like, oh cool,
something I did recently is like blowing up. I'm like,
it's the baby video again. That's a good problem.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Oh yeah. Well. The thing is I feel like with Jackson,
no matter if you're a wrestling man or not, you
see him in the ring, it captivates you. It brings
you back to your childhood. It's Michael Jackson. It comes
to life, you know, superstar. You know what I'm saying,
You're just you're engaged already your captain absolutely.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
You know. That's why I say if anybody from the
freelance Wrestling Academy is watching this because we're promoting it,
or just anybody that's kind of up and coming in wrestling,
I think the best thing you could do if you
want to stand out in wrestling character wise is look
to anything butt wrestling, right, because say Santana Jackson is like, oh,
I'll just be a or not Santanic could be anybody
say I was like, oh, I'll just be like Daniel Bryan.

(11:26):
But me, they already have Daniel Brian, so they're gonna like,
they're gonna prefer Daniel Brian. But who else is gonna
be a Michael Jackson impersonator in the ring, you know,
like me personally? Yeah, exactly me personally. I for all,
any inspiration for Alfonso Gonzalez has come from anything mostly
anything butt wrestling, right, Oh yeah, that whole vibe. Karate Kid,

(11:49):
especially Cobra Khai. John Lawrence acts as like an older
man Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite is one white from
the office.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
So many of these people, you know, we need to
bring the freelance to wrestle you. I just saw him
over the Royal Rumble Weekend for the first time. Oh,
Paul Walter Houser. He was a Cobra.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Please, I would love it. Oh my goodness, that's so cool.
You actually got to meet him.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yeah, I got to Chicago and pictures.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
That's always funny. He's so funny.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Yeah he was. He was real cool when we met him.
He wasn't like doing he wasn't hanging out after the show.
But we're lucky got him in the hotel. Yeah, yeah,
he talk to us. Yeah, he was real cool. So yeah,
I'd like to see that happen in the future.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
I'd love it. I'd love it. I'm I'm a huge
fan of his work. I remember the first time I
saw him was It's always sunny in Philadelphia. He plays
like a high school jugglo. He's so funny.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Have you watched any of his matches? Is there any
thoughts about how.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Of course, the way I see it is, especially celebrities,
you can see like you can see the celebrities that
have passion and love for wrestling. It shows whenever they
do something in the ring because they have that built
in appreciation. Sure, so yeah, it's great. That'd be great.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Yeah, I'd love to see that in the future. And
you know that again with Santana Jackson, you're able to
really get the crowd. Uh. You know, I don't think
they were on your side, but you got them on
Santana's side. Let's just say. Yeah. And that was just
kind of like an appetizer because you you did get
the victory that night.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Yeah. I got two victories that night, which is pretty nuts.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
I know, man, don't deserve it. What the hell?

Speaker 2 (13:36):
No, dude, and I plan on doing the same February
two shows both sold out. Actually no, there's gonna be
some extra standing room now available for Guardians of the Academy.
GA is only five dollars if you want to go
there Logan Square Auditorium February twenty second.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Tickets and try to get people to come. You know,
we fils. Yeah, I'll buy twenty dollars worth. You're listening,
you're watching this interview, like subscribe, Maybe I'll he hand
out a free ticket. We'll see.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yeah, if anybody wants to go see the show with
Sean Lennon, I'll hit him up.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Yeah. No, you could be my like, you know, my
my little Yeah, you have to bring the drinks because
I have a seat.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
You have to bring ext.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
But have to edit that out? Is that kind of me?
It's just a joke. But yeah, yeah, I grab those tickets,
show up early, you know, and I'll try to get
a couple.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
Of when in its history, he's gonna be the first
ever freelance resting Academy show. Yeah in Logan Square out
of Toorient And you guys have shown so much love
Lord Willing, we could do this again for sure, and we.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Got you uh in a big match for the next
Academy show. And when you look at your opponent, he
is uh, he is tough, he is mendesy. He just
had his debut match.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
His debut match. Yes, against my best friend, Yes, my
new best friend. Excuse me, Isaiah's Vilaska guy. He's got
my back. I've got his back. I'm not gonna lie.
I would be lying if I told you I wasn't
a little bit worried watching that match for Isaiah's I
was actually on commentary and you can hear it in
my voice to see somebody in their debut perform that well,

(15:16):
not only perform that well, but step up to the
ear of freelance and be able to hold his own
for the time they were in the ring. You know,
it's something to admire, certainly, a very admirable feature. And
truth be told, even before that, because I trained with
this Versu Nova Mars even before than just his work

(15:37):
ethic and how seriously he takes it and how well
he can take criticism to become better is what attracted
me to When they said we're doing another student show,
Is there anybody you would like to work? The choice
was super clear that it had to be him. But

(15:58):
hopefully he doesn't take my kindness for weakness. They I
don't know if you saw is announced that it's a
non title match, because quite frankly, is the second match
to wrestle for the title. It's something you need to
earn a little bit more. But do not take that
for weakness, because I am not going to be taking
it easy on him. I will be treating this as
if I am defending my title because I plan on

(16:19):
coming out with a victory. Don't need the help of
saving aage, don't need the help of Isaiah Svelaskiez. I
will do this all on my own.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Okay, Well, it's where you it's it's your it's like
a a proving ground. I feel like the Academy show
so exactly.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
You know what the freelance wrestling Academy made me. And
now I'm like an old old grandpa now to where
there's so many new young people here and I'm looking around,
I'm like, god, jeez, I'm like where everybody go?

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yeah, time flies? So you know, for real, dude, I agree.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
I remember what my birthday's code is having.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Dude, I remember when you started out in a freelance
we start seeing you on the shows and there wasn't
an Academy a project back then. You had to kind
of like they dip your toes into deep water.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Right, absolutely, absolutely, you know it's like when those thinker
swim things like when I it's when these opportunities weren't
as available for Academy students when I was going there,
and even less so for the group before me. So
I hope that anybody that is from the Academy that
is on this show recognizes that these opportunities don't come

(17:34):
all the time, and that they make the most of
it and don't take it for granted that there's always
going to be opportunities, because I truly believe that friendly
competition has got to be one of the best things
to have on this independent wrestling scene. Finding a group
of friends that you kind of come up with and
you can all push each other, rather than being bitter

(17:54):
that you're not getting opportunities, I think it's so much
better to have, like, you know, those friends where you
push each other to get better, to get more bookings,
to get on shows, have better matches and what.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
For sure, And you guys have a great core group
that really you guys inspire each other every day. You know.
I'm sure you have pictures of each other on your
wallet by I literally do.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
But like we've established, I'm not gonna slip around my
camera and show you.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Yeah, I'm in my underwear. It's cold.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
You know we're not gonna get.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Into that, right, right. So you talk about the reception
in the locker room you had saving gays Isaiah's they
really welcome you with those open arms.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Yeah, you know, it's a little tricky because it's rewhining
back to November October, not even October, I'd say, more
like I think this was July, Yeah, July the Kirby Show.
I was victorious. I beat Matt Knicks and Isaiah Storm

(18:55):
and Save and lost to Banging Matthews and mister faw
Lee is a surprise, and I kind of like it
was kind of disheartening because I've watched, you know, Saban
become a young and up and coming star in freelance. Obviously,
Isaiahs has been the ace of that company, a mainstay
since the beginning, first ever champion, and Storm brace in

(19:16):
the current champ at that time. Seeing them lose it
rubbed me the wrong way. I offered my services to
join them, and they were a little bit iffy, kind
of like I'm pretty sure I was part of it,
but it seems like they didn't want me there whenever
we're ranging out. But you know, I guess it was
all tests in their eyes. As soon as I won
this belt, they showed me their love and admiration. So

(19:39):
now we're all best friends besides Storm obviously. Don't know
really what happened between Sab and Isaiahs and m but
he's gone for who knows when, maybe forever. But I
but I got my boys now, I got Isaiahs. I
got Saban.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Well on that note, you know, talk about that how
they've turned on Storm Grayson. Now, is there any hesitants
to uh to joining them because you see what they
did in the Storm moments, but you know out hours
for you won the championship and how they greeted you
so warmly, you know, not at.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
All, because I think we've even posted it. But we've
been we had, we had the little talks, we figured out,
we realized that hey, as long as one of us wins,
we all win. One of us loses, we all lose.
Now we're all in understanding. Okay, that's wrong. I think
Storm was the problem, you know, That's why they had
to get rid of them.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Me they love me now and Storm Grayson you kind
of stubb them that postmatch prombo you said, all listed
all the great camps of the past, but not Storm.
So why what is this between you and Storm Grayson?
And uh, you know, come on, he's now at a
cross course similar to where you were when you had
an injury.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Right, that's true, that's true. Trust me, you don't want
to see anybody get injured. But as of right now,
I think it will be more of a problem when
he is a If he comes back around, I've got
no problem with him. Why I'm the champion Now, I'm
gonna be doing my own thing. I don't need to
be worrying about the people of the past. Like I said, Uh,

(21:13):
in order to not recreate the past, you have to
learn from it. So you can look to the past
and learn from it. But I'm not trying to recreate it.
I'm gonna do my own thing.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
What about that that that lengthy title Rainie had about
two and a half years Roman reign like numbers he
posted for that.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
True, you know, professionally very impressive. You can't take that
away from him. The my goal as champion, being real
is no matter how long I have this belt, I
know that my friendship with Saban and isaiahs will last forever. Okay,
so I've already got something that's gonna last forever just

(21:52):
from his title run this title win, I should.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
Say that's true, you have the allegiance exactly.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
I suggested Team Alfonso and his little Gooners, but they
didn't like that. So I think until then, we're just
gonna just go by our individual names, which will probably
be uh, extremely annoying for Kirbie. Whenever we're all wrestling together.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
You got to come up with something. I can't wait. Ye,
maybe we'll figure it out. You know about the unity,
you know right absolutely? Now when you took about Kylie Ray,
you have a long history of Kylie Ray. You know.
I think you first met her in the ring that
is in the ring? Was it back at twenty twenty
one at the she Land Scramble? Was that the first

(22:39):
time you met her? Or in the ring entering?

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Yes, okay, because she was a trainer, is still trainer.
Also everything interesting academy, but first time entering, yeah, there.
I remember every woman in that match beat me up
because they didn't like my kind words I had to share,
which it's whatever. You know, I don't hold the grudges,
but I think about it every day and I get mad.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Why.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
I mean, I was just offering advice and then they
just jumped me. Not very cool?

Speaker 1 (23:11):
All right? Man? You asked for it? Though you asked for.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
It, I don't know if that's the right word. I
don't know. I remember I was in the ring, and
then I woke up in the locker room and my
and my nuts hurt because I got a little blowed
at some point.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
And that match, I believe you came out the victor,
though you had Lady Luck and mister Kate, Kylie Ray.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Who else was there? Guerra de Bresn, Yes, it might
have been one more.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
I was just thinking Charlie Evans, but I don't know
if she. I don't think she compete in that one. No,
I'm trying to another.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
It wasn't Kayla Cassidy because I know she was in
the next one.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
I'd have to look it up real quick. I have
cage match that open.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Oh for sure, I believe this was Purple Poppy's birthday celebration.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Yes, yeah, that's crazy, right, and that that was so
long ago, but it was so.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
Much time flies that's nuts.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
You guys were selling out back then as well.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
So yeah, that was also right out of the pandemic
back at Logan Square Auditorium. How crazy is that?

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Yeah, I know, and that's where I really got into,
you know, senior guys all the time on Freelance Blair.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
That's right, Yes, I remember.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Now she's also looking pretty ready as well.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Yeah, she's come back recently too, and uh yeah, she
recently just had the match with Devon Devon Monroe.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Yeah serious business.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Oh yeah, man, dude, it's crazy crazy. How much can happen? Dude?
That was already what's gonna be four years ago? This year?

Speaker 1 (24:50):
That's nuts yea too. And the success she's had since.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Yeah, yeah, that's sake from what she has champion or no,
she just lost right.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
On one single.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
I don't think I've ever I don't think I've ever
had a match with her because they are technically I
wasn't in that match. I wanted to, but they beat
me up before the bell ring and we could sign
the contract and get everything official. But no, I've never
I've never had a match with a mystic Kate. I'd
wrestle anybody, honestly or not. I probably shouldn't wrestle.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
Anybody, but definitely.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Uh, i'd uh yeah, I don't see why not.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
And in the following month, I think you defeated Kylie
ray one on one.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Yes jingle or ding Ding Ding all the way the
jingle parody. I think that was the show. Ego won
the belt on.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Too, Yes he did, He'd be great.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
What a wild fun story about that. I remember my
my brother went out to that show and he was like,
the first thing he tells me, he's like, so, I'll
be honest, like, I did like your match, but the
main event was way better. I'm like, all right, I'll
think that's I think that's the famous one with Rob
clothesline Perch and he did that pack.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Oh wow, I know Perch. It gets involved, right seriously. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
One of my favorite things about freelance is whenever Perch
gets into the ring at some point, Uh, he's great.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
The last interaction you had with Perch, didn't he pull
a move on you?

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Yeah? He eliminated me last year's Rumble. I thought I
was a little bogus. To be fair. I think we're
one and one now in rumbles because not last years,
but two years before that. I eliminated Perch in Rumble
twenty two, I believe. Yeah, I think it was twenty

(26:39):
twenty two. I eliminated Perch, threw him out, and now
he's gotten me back. So we're one and one. We
night have to settle this at some point now right
now though, because I got championship things to you know,
focus on exactly.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
They're all face to rumble to fight you so exactly.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
It's pretty nuts.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
And then you had some opportunities outside of Illinois. You
wrestled at Texas.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Yeah, New Texas fro That was a blast. Oh my goodness.
I guess my arch and Nemesis, the wind drag and Dustin. Yeah, dude,
I'll tell you what. It was fun. That's probably the
I think that's the farthest I've traveled by Carter Wrestle
with Texas. I've got to a bunch of places, obviously,
but to actually work, I tell you it was pretty

(27:23):
pretty fun, especially out there with my buddies, Davey August.
Super fun.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
That was that. That's ridiculous. I gotta I gotta go
back and watch you in, Dustin.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
That was probably my favorite one. We had.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Yeah, well, yeah, Russell twice, so it has to be
a rubber match.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
So exactly we got two singles and the scramble, so
kind of like two and a half, but I would
only count the singles.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Yeah, and now, Coder Hernandez talk about him when he
came out to confront you, how did you feel the
live feed went off the air, and you know what's
going through your mind? This guy, you know him pretty well,
You've to ring him many times. He's coming up to
the championship belt.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Here's the way I see it, man. It rubbed me
the wrong way, because I had just come off my
first main event victory over Dan Housing, huge start wrestling,
and obviously juices are flowing. I'm feeling pretty good, pretty
confident for successful title defense. I just get on the
mic and start talking, saying whatever comes to my head,
saying I don't think there's anybody back there that can

(28:25):
hang with me, keep up with me sort of a challenge,
and then he accepts it. A guy who I thought
was my friend. Now looking back, Coder Hernandez post an
open challenge, and guess who doesn't respond me. I'm not
gonna bother you know. I'll leave my friend to do
his own thing. Who I thought was my friend, I'll
do my thing. But as soon as the spotlight comes

(28:47):
to me, I'm the one with the mic in the
center of the ring with my title saying nobody can
hang with me. I don't think he liked that. I
think it rubbed him the wrong way. All of a sudden,
he needs to try and take my spotlight away from me.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Maybe it's some insecurity showing from him, who.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Knows he's had some tough matches to hold on to
that legacy title and all he faced a man that
I don't know if you faced during Corbyn yet or no.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
We've been in I believe one scramble match together, okay,
and I don't think we ever touched, right.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
So, Darren Corbyn is very crafty. You've seen him, have
you kind of like looked at his career and kind
of see a pattern to yours.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
I think, pound for pound, Darren Corbyn is the most
underrated independent wrestler working right now. Right. He is so talented,
so good. I think he can do it all, which dude,
he's a multi tool player. He can be funny, he
can be serious, he can be crazy, he can do
he can do it all in the ring. He's great

(29:48):
as of right now. I've like me, I stay in
my own lane. He's got his own thing with the
court conduits of Corbyn's knowledge, right, they're gonna do their
own thing. Let them go on their own path. Our
pad's ever crossed. So I'll tell you what, I wouldn't
complain because I think he's amazing for sure.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
And when you look back at that that street fight
they had, it was brutal, and I think you you
have had yet to compete in a match of that
kind of violence.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
That's true.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
But that's true if you welcome that, if it came
to it.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
If the opportunity presented itself, of course I would do it.
If things ever escalated with anybody to that point, I'd
be open to it. But it's not something that I
would just like seek out, like, oh I need to
have a street fight, just because I believe in wrestling
it should be appropriate when say a rivalry or feud

(30:38):
escalates to that boiling point where there is no other
way to settle this unless it's no rules, just you
and me. One person comes out.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
To victor, definitely, and I feel like that match kind
of takes a part of you.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
It's absolutely Yeah, I would say, so, I haven't done it,
but it's just looking at the people that have. You know,
they're always changed afterwards.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
Right, would you believe God? And and has it changed
after that one?

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah? I think the lump on the back of his
head's gotten a little bit bigger. Uh. You guys are
kind of twins now, Yes, I don't have a lump,
that's true. Yeah, so you're more normal than him. Uh,
but you know, yeah, it didn't make him change. Yeah,
maybe it just made him a little bit more cocky,
which is only gonna be his downfall when we're in
the ring together. Right, I got a level head. I'm

(31:24):
a normal human being. I see I see things as
they are. I can see every outcome that could possibly happen,
and I do not see one where I lose.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Okay, well, I can't wait to see it, Tope Suasita squad.
And of course you're going to be taking on Coda Hernandez.
And I'm so excited because talk about Coda Hernandez. Now,
when he enters that room, the room lights up. Why
will he be your toughest challenge to day? Like all
the other factors of that, He's got the crowd behind him.

(31:54):
You know, you're seeing the uh, the emotional responses he
draws through the crowd, you know when he comes enters
in a ring. So how do you plan on putting
that aside? Pushing that out of your mind when you're
in the ring with him?

Speaker 2 (32:07):
You know, I uh, the whole crowd being behind him
doesn't really bother me because people people tend to cheer
for wrestlers that they can see themselves in. So all
that tells me is that this whole crowd is just
full of losers if they're cheering with their hamm, so
that doesn't really bother me. I tend to zone and
everybody out. When I'm in the ring. I am laser focused,

(32:29):
tunnel vision on who's in front of me and how
am I going to win this match?

Speaker 1 (32:33):
For sure, I know. The only slightly interaction you might
have is when your opponent tries to get a fan
to chop you or something like that.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Oh absolute, dude, I've been chopped by so many children, dude,
them in regularidel can chop so hard.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Oh my goodness. Fun story.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Actually, I remember for Iron Spirit Pro I was wrestling
Solomon Tupu and uh for those Iron Spreit Pro Championship
in the main event of one of these feest shows,
and he, uh, we're outside at some point he grabs
both my arms by my back, does the lap around
the ring every kid chop chop, chop, chop chop, And
then I look up and Shane Bouchet runs from the

(33:10):
locker room chops me. Oh what was he doing out here?
He already read and as the angel Escallera comm when
I was in mind, I'm like, oh no, I'm like,
just the wait and he gets close and I kicked
him in the balls as hard as I could and
he could have chopped me, and then two boo threw
me in the ring. He was he was not getting one.
That was deceiving too, because he's about like four foot six,

(33:30):
so he was blending in with those kids. It was
it was his back hair and beard that gave him
away that it.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Was chopped too.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Right, Yeah? Oh man? Uh gave me a what's it
called a cutter? I was seeing stars for weeks. Man.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
When when you see someone across the ring from you
and they had this label, they're being labeled by the
w W E, they're called w W I D. What
does that mean to you when your opponent is labeled
as such?

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Man, I'll tell you what.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
When when I was in the ring with Sam Holloway,
this is before he got id'd. But even then, idea
not that dude's huge and terrifying. He's uh no, he's
a great guy. Super happy to see that he got
some recognition, which I think is super cool. Hm uh,

(34:28):
Kylie Ray a month after she gets id'ed, I beat
her for the championship. I feel nothing. I don't care
all the matters that I got the bilt, so she
had her moment. I had mine a month later.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yeah, we never know when she'll pop back up, so
I have to keep true.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
Ever since I beat her, she's been m I a pretty.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
Nuts yes, but do you never know whenever she came
out and then fakes fights saber gage and uh it's
true and prompt match, So we'll never.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Know who knows? That was pretty smart to stay out
of my way though.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
Yeah, you never know who's gonna show up at the
Freelance Wrestling That's.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
Why you got to buy those tickets.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Man, before they saw that definitely, well Minor bought, so
I'll be there. Now. We got talk about the Freelance
Academy show. Should we look out for anyone else on
this upcoming event? I mean you just mentioned Mars he's
gonna be your opponent, and you just you know, talked
about everything. You mean, you know that that that he
brings to the table. So sure, what what who else

(35:27):
do you like on that on that show that's making
debut or that we've seen already?

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Oh man, somebody that we've seen already a couple of
times now, Uh c J Martin, So I think he's
gonna I mean, I don't want to inflate his ego
or anything, but I think he's got all the tools.
It's time to use him. As like saying they'll always
say at the Academy, and it's true though. Uh he's so,
he's very quick witted, he knows how to talk, barked

(35:53):
back at the crowd. Great physique, uh, and his wrestling
is pretty solid to you know, he's getting better every
time I see him's getting better, which is great. R
J soa another guy. He's so awkward and funny. I
don't know if if it's intentional. I think he's a genius.
Betther than that, I'm laughing at him all the time.
Promos are super underrated too. We used to call him

(36:15):
short films because they would be way too long, and
it would be like, bro, nobody's watching all these besides us.
The fans are gonna get zoned out after like a minute.
They don't want their attention span. They're not gonna want
to watch a seven minute promo. But they were hilarious.
I sometimes watch him if I'm like in the mood
to laugh, so i'd say look out for those two
Sebastian Slavaria just debuted at the Academy Project this past show. Yeah, January,

(36:42):
Vampire Gammick, he will be on the show. Lots of
new faces going to be around. This is the very
first Academy Project show I believe where there are no
trainers on the show. Students A. Yeah, you've seen Gpa Wrestle,
you've seen Kylie Wrestle, you've seen Isaiah Wressel on these

(37:04):
These will be the very first time there are only students,
and honestly there's not there's I believe there's only it
might be two or three older students. So it's like
almost all new faces here. Yeah, it's true for like
the older older groups. There's myself. I don't know if
the matches have been announced yet. I don't think I.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
Could say, well, I know Blair is not a poster.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Yes, Blair is there, uh, and then there might be
some other familiar faces. But I say it's about like
ninety percent newer, newer people, newer to new people.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
For sure, and we're exciting, definitely looking forward to. Also,
we have a new new face, Divina Thorn. Yes, she's
been promoting herself pretty well and so she hasn't debut
as well that's.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
All these people do. Yes, yes, Trent Wrigley. But that's
smart on her part because they tell everybody, man, social
media is the biggest hack, like to wrestling two, where
like look at that. Some people are already gonna know
who she is and she hasn't even step foot in
a ring yet. That smart. I that's why I try
and film promos for every match. I try and do

(38:14):
interviews like this. Obviously, get your personality out, get your
motives out ahead of time. That way, half the job
is done for you already when you're in the ring
for sure.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
And people can decide whether they're gonna cheer you or who.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
Exactly in between.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
And then Sean Galloway, I wanted to talk about him,
like he was kind of absent for about over a year.
He had the serious injury, I believe, a broken leg.
So how can you a similar injury and you were
out for that length of time?

Speaker 2 (38:44):
Oh yeah, it was out for a while, man, I'll
tell you what. And that's it's so sad to see
Sean get hurt too, because he was really at that
time was finding his groove and finding who he was
in the ring. It's like a character and a wrestler.
But you know, luckily he's got strong will, strong heart,
and it's great to see him come back and see
the broken femur. Dude. That's I think that's I believe,

(39:08):
the hardest bone in your body to break because it's
surrounded by all like the quad muscle and everything. So
to have to get an impact that hard to like
go through all that to break that leg is brutal. Man. Uh,
But he's happy to see that. He's accepting bookings down.
If there's any bookers out there that are looking for
some local talent, please hit up Sean go Away.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Yes, and hopefully we'll see him back into freelance wrestling.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
Yes, hopefully.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
Yeah, he was. He was doing very well, like you said,
yeah and unfortunately, yeah, so that incident and then I
wanted to give you a chance to plug yourself or
your social media, your merch. Oh before that, tell us
why we should come out and check out Freelance Wrestling
if we don't have a ticket Freelance Academy show. Obviously

(39:52):
Tope Suassita is sold out, but why should people come
check out freelance wrestling? Check out your matches?

Speaker 2 (39:58):
Man? You know what that's so with freelance Wrestling. They're
what they're doing at freelance Wrestling. And I'm not just
saying this because I'm the champion. Yeah, there's it's it's
an environment unlike any other. I'll tell you what. It's
not just a show. It's not just a wrestling show.
It's like a party that keeps getting better and better
and better as the night goes on, full of surprises,

(40:20):
unexpected moments that can happen. Stuff you Uh, it would
be hard to find on other wrestling shows. And you
know our shows are selling out, so you see it's
a hot ticket in town. I implore you to come
see it. And if you can't see it, look up
some of your favorite wrestlers that are on the show.
Buy their merch follower, share their stuff online, help support them,

(40:41):
go to other shows they're on.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
That's my pitch for freelance Wrestling is it's literally just
a party me. If you want to buy any of
my merchandise, please go to prog Wrestling teas dot com.
Look up Alfonso and actually got a brand new shirt
just got uploaded today. It's one of my favorites. I
gotta get some printed. Hopefully I'll have them printed for
the two day show or two shows that one day, Yes,

(41:05):
I should say, uh, if not, for sure we'll have
him at emporium. But yeah, if you want to show
your support that way, that'd be great. If not just
liking share my promos. Instagram is at the Alfonso Underscore
G and Twitter is the Alfonso G.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
Now I had to bring up one name. Yeah, you
haven't wrestled him yet, and he wrestles for CSW, but
you did. You were on a card with him and
Ego Pro and it's Conan liking Oho, what do you
think of him as he's the csw's champion for your
freelance champion. I mean maybe one day we'll see it,
but but.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
Just maybe, dude, I think he's great, He's sick, he's huge.
I don't know if I've ever seen it's it's always
like a spectacle when you see somebody like that massive
move that quick. It's nuts. No, he's killing it right now.
Happy for him that he's getting, uh this recognition and
all this work. It's great.

Speaker 1 (42:02):
Awesome, man, Well before I forget.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
Also March eighth, Olympia Fields Ego Pro Wrestling right if
you can't catch me beating Coda Hernandez at Freelance Wrestling
February twenty second. You will get a second chance when Roberty, Go,
Anthony and myself team Robe Robebros. Purple Robes go up
against Latinos most wanted so save Andy Age, my best friend. Unfortunately,

(42:25):
I would have to put him down to just for
one night only. We'll throw our friendship to the side.
I think he knows it's for the greater good because
I gotta beat Code Hernandez.

Speaker 1 (42:33):
Yeah, I know you, you and Coda. I have this
U because I feel like it's not gonna be over
with one match.

Speaker 2 (42:39):
Who knows it will be the way I when I
put him doun.

Speaker 1 (42:44):
Well, I appreciate you all, funds all being on the
PWE Report, and before I let you go, please give
a shout out to the PWE Report. I will end
this video and start a new one. Is that cool?

Speaker 2 (42:55):
Absolutely?

Speaker 1 (42:56):
