Speaker 1 (00:02):
Oshawn Lennon with the p W E Report and we're
talking to Astonishing Austin Malitano on the PW Report. Make
sure to check him out. He's going to be taking
on Eric Surge, both members of White Meat, Stone Ambrost
and Robbie Reeves. The ov W US typeweight championship match.
This is at Defying Pro Wrestling Defiant. We still stand

(00:25):
in Dwight, Illinois, and we know you have also an
MMA and jiu jitsu background. I'm an MMA fan myself,
so we can dive into that as well. Yeah, and
you're you're done acting as well. It was on your bio.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, yep, I do some acting. Very new to the
acting side of things, but yeah, that's me.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Awesome. Well, we appreciate you being on PW Report and
we just saw you at the FY and Pro back
in March and you had said that's your first time
in the Chicago area.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Grea.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
If people haven't senior, You've got I believe five different
championships right now, uh four right now?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Okay, but this weekend, uh you know, I'm I might
have six, so we'll see.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Okay, you have another title match besides the Fighting Pro.
This Weekend yep.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yep, which I'm not sure when this is airing? Is
this live now?

Speaker 1 (01:26):
No, it's recorded, but I'm gonna try and get up
tomorrow or oh sure.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Okay, So this is most trouble June twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
First, I'm in a fatal four way in Springfield, Missouri
for their heavyweight championship at Mid States Wrestling.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Okay, good one.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
And then the next day another fatal four way for
the OVW US Championship.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
So pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah, definitely, man and I again. You've got these different championships,
NWFA World League Tag Team Championship, the Trailblazer Heavyweight Championship,
the New Breed Wrestling US Championship, oh yeah, and show
Me State Heavyweight Championship. Is that all the belts?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Yep? Yep. I lost the New Breed Heavyweight Championship, so.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
I have but yeah cool? Well, well regulations, I.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Have three of them.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
The Premiere took the tag titles like they stole them
from US, so oh okay, yeah US.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Back, Oh for sure, for sure. They beat you in
the magine. Did they just take them about it being contested?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
No, So we had a tag team title match probably
like two weeks ago now, uh. And then afterwards they
attacked me and my partner and then they walked away
with the tag titles.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
So okay, we're still.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Tag ting champions, but we don't physically have the titles definitely.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
And again you're talking about the National Wrestling Lions who
won the World League Wrestling Tag Team Championship. A Blade Lenox,
you guys are the Blazing Guns defeated Dysfunctioned a couple
of months ago, So that's not one I to start
off was how was that experience that is a NWA
territory event, and how was that experience for you that

(03:13):
was a large crowd I watched the match?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Oh yeah, man, Like that's that's one of those matches
that I feel like, no matter where my career goes,
it's I'm always gonna be super proud of it, not
only just everything that led into the match, but like
what it meant for me, what it meant for him
not to go like super deep into it, but like
you know he uh, you know, we're both I'm currently

(03:38):
in the military still beat or Blade.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
He was in the military. He's a combat vet.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
He got his leg blown off and wore so just
being able to like take that like bond that we
have just from service and then not only share it
with uh like wrestling fans, but also people like military personnel.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Uh man, it just made it that much special.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
And then I'm actually stationed at Leonardwood, so that that
moment itself was just like super cool. And then like
everything that we've done since we've won the titles, uh,
it just feels that more special because it's it's something
that you know, uh, we like it.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
It could have never happened, but it did happen.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
And just seeing that for for him because like the
stuff he you know, obviously having a leg blown off
is very hard as it is, but his age and
then him himself thinking you know, maybe this isn't something
that I could do, and just being able to see
him do it and just being there with him for

(04:45):
the ride.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
It's it's such a great thing. I love it.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
That's awesome. That's awesome. And you you are in the
in the actually in the military. So how did pro
wrestling get into your life and how did it change
it for the better.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yeah, So I've always been fan growing up, Like when
I was a kid, probably around like eight or nine,
I kind of watched it on and off because like
my mom and I had cable, and then like we
didn't have cable. So once we lost the cable, I
kind of went away from it for a little bit,
and then I came back to it in the weirdest way.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
I don't I don't know if there's still a thing
anymore red boxes.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Essentially, I went to a Walgreen to my mom and
I used to rent like video games for like the
PS three, and they didn't really have any cool games.
And then I saw they had the WWE thirteen game.
I was like, all right, I'll try it out.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
And then as I.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Was like playing the game, I was like, man, this
is actually really cool. And then at that point in time,
that would have been around November of twenty twelve, that's
when I got back into wrestling, and yeah, I got
I think I came.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Into wrestling at a very good time.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
And then, you know, once I started getting invested in it,
I went on YouTube and I watched everything from like
twenty eleven and just kind of went backwards a little bit.
But yeah, no, that's kind of how it, you know,
got into my life. And then as far as like
training to become a wrestler.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
It was. It was probably around the same time, like
twelve thirteen.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
At the time, I was living in like mid Missouri
and we looked up wrestling school as me and my
mom and the Harley Race Wrestling Academy is what we
found and it was pretty close to us at the time.
It was currently in Eldon, Missouri. This was when Harley
was alive. And yeah, it was like an hour and
I was like, oh, yeah, you know, I have to
wait till I'm eighteen, but you know, like, yeah, you know,

(06:40):
I'm going to go there when I'm eighteen. And then
come time when I turned eighteen, I found out that
they moved all the way to Troy, Missouri, which from
where I lived was two hours and forty five minutes. Wow.
So I went to a couple of shows, like right
before the pandemic. It was like February of twenty twenty.

(07:01):
I got a feel for it, and then I just
had to start training that July and then every Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Thursday I would drive about three hours down about
three hours back and yeah, and it took off from there.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Wow, that's that's awesome. And you see, you got to
interact with Harley race at all.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
No, No, So I was the I was the last
post Harley. Oh okay, yeah, because Harley passed away and
I believe May or April of nineteen or no, my bad,
that's the way.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
In August. It was August of nineteen for sure.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Yeah, definitely, that's that's sad to have learned, you know
what happened. And I'm sure everybody wanted to come out
there and and you know, do good for his name, right.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Yeah, it's it's a cool like, you know, a lot
of me wishes I was, like, you know, got to
train with Harley.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
But the cool thing about being like.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Like post Harley is that there's a lot of like
I work with a lot of people. I wrestle a
lot of people, interact with a lot of people that
you know, if I if they didn't know that I
was like like post Harley, they would have thought that
I was trained by Harley, which for me, that's like such.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
A cool compliment.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
And be able to wrestle people that you know, were
trained by Harley, they're Harley guys.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
And just being able to keep up with them, you know,
it's such a cool thing.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
And hearing all the stories, the stories are always great,
and just being able to you know, have the opportunity
to train at the Harley Race Wrestling Academy, hold Harley's titles,
and just being able to continue on the legacy that
you know, he taught the next generation that the next
generation is teaching guys like me.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
So that's really good for sure.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
You have, like, any favorite matches that you watched of Viz?

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Oh, yeah, so like him and Flair, Like I can't
really like pick one particularly, I really like those.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
A couple of years ago.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I got the opportunity to meet Tommy Rich and you know,
he was telling me I didn't get to watch a match,
but he was telling me about his match with Harley
when he became champion, which was pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
But yeah, I know Harley, Harley and Flair pretty pretty
good matches.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Yeah, for sure. And you've guys the opportunities to work
for the W and a W as an extra and
you know talk about you know where you took from
those experience experiences.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah, so, like it's always it's always a weird thing
because like I've done so many of them now that uh,
you know a lot of people might think like, oh,
you know, like it's it's it's copy and paste.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
But for me, uh, every time I go there.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Like you know, the setup is always different, but I
feel like I always do the same thing because like
backstage is just kind of a mess, like not like
a mess bad way, but like there's just signs point
everywhere and you're trying to find talent relations. But when
I go there, like I always take a second to
kind of like see like an opening to the actual ArenaBowl,

(10:21):
and I'll just kind of stand there and just kind
of stare for a minute because it's just such a
it's such a cool thing for me, and I don't
think it will ever go away.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
And especially doing WrestleMania this year, man, that was so cool.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
World Rumble Backlash like that was uh man, it it's
such a cool thing. It's just like you have butterflies
in your stomach, but definitely, and like it's like the
easiest way I can explain to people.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
It's like networking, but like the people that are doing
this at like the highest level. And like every.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Time I go, I always I always learned something for
me to take back personally or.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
For me to take back to the independent scenes.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Definitely, and that's cool, and I'm sure you know the
knowledge you gain is you know, invaluable and you've gotten
to be extra to a match with Tina and Randy Orton, right, Yeah, yeah,
that's that crazy. People like start start talking and they
find out who you were after that and stuff like that.

(11:26):
You get a following from.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
That, yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
I I think the thing that like surprised me the
most was just like all the support that I got afterwards,
like not only from wrestlers fans, but for people that
just like didn't even know me, and they're just like like, wow,
the guy with the yellow tie did really good, or

(11:50):
like people that I went to high school with, you know,
they they saw I was like, is that is that Austin?
And then they like look me up and they're like,
holy crap, you're a wrestler now, so and then like
just just cool too. Like you know, I grew up
watching Randy and Sena, Like I didn't, like I watched
their earlier stuff, but like the first time that I

(12:11):
saw them like together, it was uh yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
It was World Rumble, I think twenty fourteen.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
It was when Sena had the Heavyweight Championship and Orton
had the ww Championship.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Oh yes, stood and stuff like that was my first
taste of them.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
And honestly, out of all the matches that I've seen,
I think that one's probably my favorite, just because, like
you know, at the time, I'm like, wow, you know,
Randy Orton is is because at the time it was
like right in the middle.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Of the authority stuff.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Yeah, or like Daniel Bryan was like, oh man, you
know he sucks and I was like, oh, well, you know,
Scena is pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
And then just you know, back and forth. That was
pretty cool for me.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Definitely, that's awesome that you got the chance to to
be a part of that. Now, let's talk about your
opportunity at the fire Pro. Well, your previous match you
went against amb He's a fan favorite, so you know,
talk about how you made an impact there and uh
against a MB and obviously the fans expect him to

(13:11):
win and which didn't happen. I believe you won. And
how do you go into that how do you prepare
for that scenario that you're gonna have make some people upset.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Yeah, you know, there's times, especially when I go in
the new.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Places, like I just kind of like to see how
it goes.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Because like I said, you know, I've never been to
like the Chicago area. I've wrestled in Illinois quite a bit,
but never like in that area, right, and you know,
like going in and stuff. It's it's one of those
cool things because a lot of people there probably didn't
know me, and when they left, you know, they knew
maybe not everything about me, but they knew of me.

(13:54):
And you know, going out there and then obviously him
coming out and you know, everybody was just like I
saw like an old lady just standing up like flailing
her arms. And you know, once once I saw that,
like I kind of knew what I wanted to do,
and I had fun. Like I had a lot of
fun actually, And and the cool thing too, is is

(14:16):
from my understanding, it's like not like a newer promotion,
but like it's like new ish, you know, yes, and
just being able to be a part of something like
that and maybe like you know, building it up to
where it's you know, competing against all the other Chicago
or like you know, near Chicago indies. You know, I
think it'd be really cool because Chicago is like it's

(14:39):
a heavy sink. Oh yeah, there's a lot and Uh,
you know, I'm I am starting to step my foot
in that area, and I mean I'm curious to see
what happens.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Oh, yeah, for sure. And yeah it's also promotion has
a lot of younger talent too. Yeah, yeah, older wrestlers.
So definitely it's fun when you look at the opponents.
This Sunday, you got Eric Serge. Have you wrestled Eric before?

Speaker 2 (15:07):
No, so, I I've never wrestled anybody in this match.
I'm familiar with Eric Serge. He I've seen his stuff
at ov W on Instagram and stuff. And then the
tag team, I have no idea who they are.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Yeah, they look they look goofy though, like they are
they look goofy? Yes, yeah, one of them believes he's
a dog or he acts like a dog.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
Oh got the dog walking this weekend.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
He doesn't have the appearance of a dog, but yeah
everything else.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Tag team. Are they local to the Chicago area.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Yeah, they came out of Freelance Freelance Wrestling Academy.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Yeah I've been there before. Yeah, I figured, I'm sure
I've met them before.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
But yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
No, it's very interesting dynamic, especially since the ov W
United States titles on the one Yes, that's that's that
just got pretty interesting.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Oh yeah, for sure that I can't miss match and
I just love to see how y'all mix it up
in that in that ring. You know, it's gonna be
great for defying pro wrestling and obviously have an n
w A championship on ov W championship on the line.
That's that's very uh prestigious as well.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Yeah, no, man, it's it's cool.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Like I was saying earlier, Uh well, actually I didn't
say this earlier.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
I feel like in wrestling, a.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Lot of guys, uh will be like, oh, you know,
I'm the best in the Midwest, or oh I'm the
best in the mid South, and like that's that's cool,
and like statistically, if you are the best, you know,
in a regional area, like I don't think there's anything
wrong with that, But I never want to be looked
at as a guy that's like, oh, wow, you know, he's.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Just the best in the Midwest, you know what.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
I like, I want to be able to be like, oh, hey,
like astonishing Austin Mooetalo. He is the best wherever he
goes and facing new opponents is the only way that
I can you know, prove that.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
So I'm very excited for this.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Match definitely, and talk about you had this match not
too logo for New Breed Wrestling the United States Championship
with Penny Kingston. That was a good match. Like, when
you go back and look at that one, how did
you feel about it? You went pretty long too, It's
all over fifteen minutes, I believe.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
Yeah, I'm trying to think when that was.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
That's probably back in March maybe, yeah, March. Yeah, you know,
actually thinking back on it now, that's a very interesting
match because like back then, you know, Kenny Kenny was
like one of my enemies, but now he's like he's
my like security guard. Okay, so yeah, that was very cool.
And actually him and I are wrestling again. I feel

(17:54):
like I'm rustling a lot of four ways.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
It's in July.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
I'm defending my title again against him and two other
guys in a fatal four way. But yeah, no, that
match was very very interesting. I'm trying to remember. I know,
I got my ribs hurting that one pretty bad.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Oh wow.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
And we went we went at each other like. That
was a very hard hitting one.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
For sure, And and you guys definitely put on a
show and we'll see what happens in New Breed Wrestling
when you defend that championship again in a fatal four way?

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Yeah, is that is that your home promotion New Breed Wrestling.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
No, World League Wrestling is my home, but.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Uh, New Breed, I mean I'd say New Bread is
probably like a like a close second.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
I've been there since my second match for sure.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Yeah. I have to mention with the World League Wrestling
who had sabotage sewn Logan. I did that same show
and he did an interview with you on the you
know on his podcast. It is like short thing.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
So yeah, that was no, Actually that was WrestleMania Weekend.
That was Yeah, that was Friday Night SmackDown in Vegas.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
That was so funny because like the venue that we
were in was pretty big.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
I think it was the T Mobile Center.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Arena.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
I get confused because in st or not sat Lois,
but in Kansas City we have the T Mobile Arena
like whatever, one's not what you say Vegas is center
or arena arena.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Okay, Okay, so we have the T Mobile Center in Missouri,
so I get them confused.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
But yeah, like we had like a big like locker
room area, so like there's like the sign talent and
then there's just like this huge bathroom.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
So we just went and did it in the bathroom.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Oh and your favorite US was Billy Robinson. That was
not even a surprise of people.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Huh yeah, I mean, like it's hard, like I have
a lot of favorite but uh, like I'm so like
with the jiu jitsu and stuff like, I like the
technical aspect of wrestling when it's there, So like Billy
Robinson for me is really cool.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Like I love his stuff.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Like yeah, like for wrestling and stuff like sometimes if
it makes sense, I will be very technical, but a
lot of times, like it just doesn't really work out,
so I just don't do it.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
But your boys very technical.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Yeah for sure. Now talk about when you're featured on
a poster for a show, what reactions are you expecting
from the fans.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
I guess it just depends where I'm at.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
So recently, uh, like it's it's been kind of cool.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
So like my my schedule is.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Just like really fool. So there are some places that
like I'll wrestle at and then I won't be back
there for you know, a couple of months, and you know,
in the meantime, I'm like, I'm not on the poster.
But when they announced their show that I'm on next
and I'm on the poster, usually I'll see a lot
of people be like, oh, you know, Austin's back or

(21:10):
Austin's on the show, and uh like Luckily for me,
like a lot of these promotions have like really cool
like graphic designs. You know, when I see a cool poster,
I'm super excited for it. In fact, I'm like, so
I recently just moved earlier the year, but I'm getting
it to wear in my office space, like I have

(21:31):
like all these really cool posters just across my wall
almost so nice.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Yeah, I dig a cool post. I dig a cool poster.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Yeah, there's been really good, good work out there. Yeah,
Freelance is one of the best posters in this area,
I think.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Yeah, I've seen theirs and then was it Dreamwave?

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Yeah, dream really good ones too.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Yeah. You ever can't just go to a Dreamwave show. Yeah,
it's amazing.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
I'm trying to think because like my issue right now
is that like for this year, like I'm like, my
saturdays are pretty much booked up for the rest of
the So a lot of the Chicago shows, you know,
they they run on Saturdays, but there's some of them
that run on Fridays. So next Friday, I can't remember
what show it is. I want to say it's Freelance.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Oh okay, but whoever has.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
A show on the twenty seventh, that's the next Friday.
I'm gonna go down there and like network and you know,
see it.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
I believe that's the anniversary show for Freelance Wrestling. Oh nice, Yeah,
it's Logan Square Auditorium.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Okay, yeah, yeah, okay, that's Freelancing.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
That's that's an amazing venue by the way.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Yeah yeah, I'm I'm.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
An incredible venue. It's the best venue in the city
and maybe out of you know, out of this area too.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
So I'm like, I'm a big Chicago gang.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
Like I like Chicago, like never been, but.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Like just the like the like the attitude and like
the people that are from there, like uh like everybody
just has like a.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
Huge like pride about Chicago, and I think that's cool.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Definitely, definitely. We try we try to represent now when
you uh, when you look at wrestlers that people may
not have heard of who would you like to face
one day. Maybe someone that's a training partner or that
someone that you're practiced with, or someone that's not you know,
too well known out there.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Yeah, hmmm, it's a good one. I mean, I'm sure
there's a lot of them, but like just off the
top of my head, i'd probably say Blade.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Because like we're we're taxing partners, but we've we've never
wrestled before, Okay, So I think that'd be I think
that'd be interesting, definitely.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Yeah, because like the thing like, so I've been in
I've been like on in the game for about like
a little over three years.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
And.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Like I've only had like two tag teams, but like
one of them was not really like we didn't really
have time.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
To become a tag team.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
But eatin Blade, like you know, we've we've had you know,
we've had the time.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
So like it's like an official tag team. So I mean,
I hope nothing bad ever.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
Happens with us, but if it did, i'd be interested
to you know, wrestle him.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Nice. Nice, I'd like to see that as well. Uh.
It's pretty cool when you see someone that doesn't, you know,
let anything hold them back, like they're you know, you
know the handicap whatever, you know. I mean that's really cool.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Yeah, and like it's uh, like it's just crazy. I
mean even like aside.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
From the wrestling, like he uh, there's like I don't
know what it's called.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
He's told me before, but.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
Because that that whole injury and stuff happened, you know,
probably ten years ago now, but like a couple of.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
Years after that, you know, he's competing on like what
are they call him?

Speaker 2 (25:17):
It's like a special team for people that have like
prosthetic legs. Sure, but like they like play like sports
like not like you know, water down sports, Like they're
playing you know, legit baseball, they're playing legit football, just
all this crazy stuff. So like he's like super athletic
because he did all of that. And then you know

(25:38):
he's also like a like a model, and he also
does like a lot of like he writes books and stuff.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
So that's cool.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
That's awesome. What is the loudest reaction you've had your
moves or your entrance.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Boo?

Speaker 3 (25:56):
How does reaction? Oh, I'm gonna say three, because I
have three just off the top of my head. I
can think. The first one is gonna be like a
two parter. Uh. It was that Fort.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Lenderwood show where Blade and I, you know one so
like the the moment that that third like the ref's
third hand went down and like we won the match, that.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Was really loud.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
I'd say our entrance to that match was also like
really loud, like you know, like it was. It was
such a like my ears were, oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
So that's one.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Two would be uh actually, And it's funny because the
show and restaurant tomorrow exactly a year ago, like a
year to the day.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
I was their Missouri.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Heavyweight champion and I had a street fight with Colton
thir and Vaught. If you can ever get him on
your podcast, you would be a guy to get on there.
You know. That was such a crazy thing because it
was in his hometown. It was the you know, the
last match in our series of feud that we had.

(27:12):
And this sounds so bad, but so Colton, like his
whole family was there, right and his dad like his
dad's dead, and you know he's like very vocal about
it and stuff like that. So I walked out, you know,
and I had like my black fur coat on. You know,

(27:32):
you couldn't see, like because I had a shirt on,
but you couldn't see what my shirt was. And you know,
I was already getting Buddh as soon as I walked
out with my manager, but as soon as I got
in the ring, and then you know, he got out
there and stuff. You know, like this, everybody's kind of
starting to get a little hyped. You know, the referees here,
he's here, I'm here, and then my back is towards him,
and I take off my fur coat and I turned

(27:54):
back around and all my shirt says is Kelly's favorite son,
which Kelly his dad. So just the reaction off of
that just, oh man, it was nuclear.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
And then as ston as I took it off, he
just came flying with a kid. It was crazy.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
He knew about it, right, did.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Not like I I not to pull the curtain back
too much, but like I gave like I didn't tell
him exactly what was on there, but I asked him.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
I'm like, hey, I'm wanting to do something along these lines.
Are you cool with it? And he's like, yeah, I'm
cool with it.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
And I'm like, Okay, it's probably gonna be something's gonna
make you mad and He's like, oh no, no, no, I'm
cool with it.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
I'm cool with it. So yeah, we did it, and
I was pretty loud. And then.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
I'd honestly say the third one would be when I
took the r KO, like not not obviously, like not
everybody in there knew me, and like that moment wasn't
about me, but like just hearing the reactions and then
you know, afterwards, you know, I'm just on the outside,
like you know, outside the range, just kind of looking

(29:14):
up and I just see, you know, thousands of people
just like losing their minds over all this. And then
you know, our truth and stuff too, So like that
was pretty loud as well.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
Oh wow, I can only imagine, especially when you have
our truth coming back and he was supposedly fired.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
And yeah, like I'd say this one too, but like
I had nothing to do with this.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
I was just there in person. But at wrestle Mania.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Night one when when Jay won the heavyweight title, oh
my goodness, everybody went blistic. Wow, it's crazy, Like there
wasn't a single person sitting down, like you know, eating.
In fact, I saw a dude in a wheelchair and
like he was like just going crazy too.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
I was like, man, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
That's why you pay the money to be there. Yeah, real,
so you could be a part of it, like even
if you have to watch it on your phone when
you're all the way high up.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Yeah no, I and like, like I said, you know,
I've done a lot of extra work. But it was
when I was in Ontario, California for Raw and it
was when Jay Usso beat bron Breaker for the Icy title.
That was the first time I really noticed just kind
of like how much of a pop culture wrestling has become,

(30:35):
because it's almost like a concert if you really think
about it. You know, like you know, people show up,
you know, they've got the shirts, they got the merch.
You know, when the superstars come out and their music hits,
you know, everybody like just starts dancing, you know, getting
with it. Like it's it's so cool just how far
wrestling is coming. Like it's not just like oh yeah,

(30:57):
it's not just a wrestling match, you know, it's the entrance, interactions,
it's the merch, the moves, like the stories, like there's
just so much that goes into it now.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Look at Joe Henry, Yeah no, his that that was
crazy as well.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
So when you when you want do you want to
be remembered for when you are done with pro wrestling?

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (31:23):
I mean I feel like everybody's answer would obviously be
the wrestling, But for me, I feel like what I
would want to be remembered for is like my what
I brought outside of wrestling, Like because of the platform
that wrestling gave me, like what I did with it.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
You know.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
I feel like there's people that, you know, like they
they want to make the big money, which I mean
everybody does, and you know they're you know, they're okay
with that. But for me, like I've always thought like
things outside of wrestling are very cool. Like for example, yesterday,
you know, I to do my first ever meet and

(32:01):
greet because of wrestling, which was really cool.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
You know, stuff with make a wish that's super cool.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Just stuff that like you know, can help influence wrestling,
but just you know, outside of what normal wrestling is.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
If that makes sense, definitely, that's that's really cool to
hear and talk about. You know, your career so far
and where do you want to head from here?

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (32:27):
You know, my goal for me is WWE. I think
a lot of people will know that you just asked me.
But here's the cool thing though, Like obviously for me,
like WWE is the goal, but there's nothing I can
say that, you know, like anything can happen, Like I
could get a.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Call from you know, aw TNA in w A. You know,
I could get a call from.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Any one of these big promotions like at any time,
and you.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Know, that could be my path forward.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
But like I know, no matter you know, what happens,
like I will get there. But about getting there, like
you know, it's it's a ride and I'm here for.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
It, definitely, definitely. And I would you say that being connection,
your connections with the school helped you get like kind
of some of those gigs, like you know, like being
an extra at w and AW would you credit that
to the school or what would you credit that to?

Speaker 3 (33:28):
I'd say yes and no.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
So like as far as like it are you more
or less talking about like like name value, like oh, hey,
you know you went to the Harley Race School. Yeah,
that aspect, I'd say no because like I'm not saying
that it doesn't hold any weight, but like it's nothing

(33:50):
compared to you know, like oh hey I went to
a Cody Road school or Hey, you know the Seth
wrong in school.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Yeah. So, like as far as like like the name
value of the school, like it has it.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Holds a very good reputation and rightfully so you know,
just the way we're trained in stuff at the Harley
Race Wrestling Academy. But as far as like, uh, you
know the name that will like kind of like get
you in the doors, Like it's it's nothing compared to
you know, Hey, I'm a I'm a Seth Rollins guy.
You know, I'm a Rakishi guy, Kodi Rooades guy. You know,

(34:27):
flatbacks like you know whatever.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
That looks like.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
But I will say something that the Harley Race Wrestling
Academy that like did for me is that I feel
like it separated me from a lot of people. I
feel like a lot of people that go to these
different schools, you know.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
They feel entitled.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
You know, they're like, oh, you know, I trained here,
so you know, I get these opportunities at where I
train at. You know, we're taught Hey, if you want
something in this business, you have to go for it,
you know, Like it's it's not one of those you know,
sit around it's like oh pick me, you pick me,
pick me, you know, you got to go out there.
So I think the work ethic that the Harley Race

(35:06):
Academy gave me is what you know, mixed with you
know me as a person and just you know, like
how I am sometimes Like I think that's what's gotten
me so many opportunities so far.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Yeah, for sure, man, and I can't wait to see
you get more more opportunities. Do you have to talk
about wrestley internationally?

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Yeah, no, that's that's a big goal of mine.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
You know, I feel like Canada is something I could
get pretty easy. Uh, but for me, I really want
to I have like three places that I want to
go internationally, Mexico, Japan, and then I was born in
New Zealand, so I would love to go you know,
tear it up as her kid.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Oh nice, nice, that's that's interesting.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
How long were you there for I live?

Speaker 3 (35:55):
I was five, so okay, fairly young. Fairly young.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Uh. Then what was the athletic background you had prior
to pro wrestling and how did it help you if
you have one?

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Yeah, so I've done martial arts pretty much my entire life,
you know, jiu jitsu with that as well. So as
far as like movements and stuff like that. That helped
out a lot. I wrestled from h when I was
in seventh grade all the way through high school, so that.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
Helped me out as well. And I'd say for the
most part, it was just those two.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
You know, I played football for about a year, but
outside of that, you know, it's mostly high school wrestling
and then martial arts.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
Cool cool, man, that's that's awesome. The MMA UFC, we've
seen a lot of cross promotions. You know, I'm just
wearing right here Filthy pros you know, so that's pretty
cool as well. We see that they have these MMA
hybrid events with pro wrestling called blood Sport as well
by Josh Barnett.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
So yep, yep. I saw that in Vegas. That was
very cool. First time ever seen in person.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Man, I'm jealous. That's the one event I hope they
bring to Chicago. But I don't know if it'll ever happen.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Yeah, I don't know, man, GCW, because that's that's a GCW.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Event, right, Yeah, Yeah, I don't know, man, They're going everywhere.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Yeah, I feel like it would happen. I feel it
would happen. Sure, Yes, I have like a like a
big paper here or something soon.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
Women's wrestling is pretty big. So have you ever considered
doing an intergender match if you haven't done one already?

Speaker 2 (37:33):
You know, I've actually never done one. I mean, I
guess i'd be open to it. I know a lot
of people that do, so I'm sure it'll happen one,
you know soon.

Speaker 1 (37:45):
Yeah. You say, like maybe scrambles or something would be
like introduction for that.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Yeah, I mean, like so for me and stuff like,
I'm a big like psychology guy, so I could see
how like an inter gender match could work. Yeah, I'm
not sure, Like, I'm not sure if it would just
be like, uh, you know, oh hey, you know we're
gonna put you two together, or if it's you know,
there's gonna be like a story there.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
But especially in the Chicago area, I see a lot
of that.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
Yeah, I know, I've seen that. You've had a pictures
and a fellow wrestler Cameron. Her name is Cameron, So
maybe would you let her get there of wrestling her
or anyone else?

Speaker 3 (38:24):
Oh dude, I would kick Cameron so hard.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
She's so many she always hits me, And I don't want.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
A former w w E or Nxtena as well.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Yeah, I mean, I mean, like I know a lot
of like really good female wrestlers on the scene. I'd say,
like top five, I'd say, Cameron's on there, Uh, Skyler Sparks,
Amana Belmont, Maggie.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
Lee, who else? Who else?

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Tiffany Needez from w A. So yeah, there's there's a
lot of good female wrestlers. Oh yeah, yeah, LBW is
quite a few of them too, Jay Rod, Sophia Rose.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
So yeah, there's a lot of them.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
And who else do you look up to him? Probost say,
it doesn't have to be a pro wrestler. It could
be like anybody like media or you know, someone that's
that's a part of the industry.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
Yeah, oh inspired me.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
So I'd say, uh, first and foremost my coach leland Race.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
He is.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
He's like one of the people that like will always
be honest with me, regardless of whatever it is. And uh,
and it's really cool just kind of how our relationship
developed because obviously, you know, he was like my main trainer,
but now to the point where you know, like for example, we're, uh,
we're at training on Tuesday, and it was kind of like,

(39:57):
you know, we're working with the newer you know, crop
of he's in our in our school, and it was
just kind of cool, you know, him and I were
bouncing off ideas for each other about, you know, how
we could help better like a training when they were
doing like an arm drag.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
So that's pretty cool. So I say him, who else?
Who else? Bob Evans? I don't know if you know
who Bob Evans is.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
He's pretty big in the wrestling scene. Mike Quackenbush we
saw quite often. Uh, Mike's Mike's done a lot for me,
not only in the ring, but like, you know, just
everything outside of wrestling as far as like networking and
you know, how to get your name out there and stuff.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
So that was good.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
And then as far as like wrestlers go, oh man,
there's just a.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Lot of people, Like I'm one of them guys that kind.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Of takes like bits and pieces from everybody because there's like,
to me, I don't think there's like one particular person
that's just like doing it very well. Like everybody that's
successful in wrestling, Like you have a team of people
that kind of like help you get there, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
It's like, you know you've got somebody that you know
does your gear, somebody that helps you with your merchandise.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Uh, you know, booking, like you you always have somebody
that's kind of influencing in some kind of way. So yeah,
I would just say a lot of people that I'm
booked on shows with, to be honest, even if they
don't realize it, you know, a lot of people help
me out in many.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Ways for sure. And I wanted to give you a
chance to plug any merchandise and stuff like that and
social media and go ahead.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
Oh, were right here all right, I'm in my guest
bedroom doing this. So I just got.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
These cool new hats summer of movie tollow. I don't
know if you can see that very well. Yes, I
got them in all.

Speaker 2 (41:54):
Kinds of different colors. I'm gonna have them at my
merch tables this weekend along with you know, my shirts,
hat stickers. I pretty much got everything. I even got koozies.
Now I'm a cooozye guy. N So yeah, and obviously
you know, if you can't make it to a show
or anything, uh www dot Austin moovilytllow dot com, you

(42:17):
can go on there.

Speaker 3 (42:19):
Uh see where I'm at next you can buy my
merch I can ship the tea pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
And then on social media as well, just Astonishing Austin
movies fallow.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
For sure, that's awesome. And then also do you have
any message for uh Eric and white Meat?

Speaker 3 (42:40):
Yes, yes I do. I should probably take op my
glasses for these.

Speaker 2 (42:47):
Listen here, Eric Surge ov W Champion, you're pretty big.
I think I'm bigger. And then white Meat. That sounds
a little weird, but you know this is I'm thinking
for this match white Meat. You know, you guys are
a little weird. So you know, you guys just kind
of go over there, do your thing and then let
me and Eric just wrestle it out.

Speaker 1 (43:09):
Yeah, they can play of the dog, you know.

Speaker 3 (43:12):
Yea, yeah, you guys can go play dog over there.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
I'll bring some dog treats, Ash, that's a really great idea.

Speaker 3 (43:20):
I'll bring some dog treats.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
You guys do your stuff over there, and then you know,
me and Eric Surgeon. Who knows, I just might show
up on OVW, Like nobody knows who I am over there,
so it's like, hey.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
Thank you again for being on PW report Astonishing Austin,
