Speaker 2 (00:47):
Gotta all right, good afternoon or evening everybody.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yes, glad you could make it.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Welcome to Paranorma forore one one.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
We were supposed to do a live showed tonight, a
live investigation. Some things happen. We live in a small town,
and I think certain things people don't like when it

(01:19):
comes just to this kind of stuff. I guess something
that we put out earlier, just to let everybody know that,
I'll read it to you. We're incredibly frustrated and frankly
embarrassed to have announced I have to announce this. Our
live investigation in Louden has been shut down. It's a

(01:43):
real shame because this town has no problem with ghost
tours or fun Halloween events. But the moment you bring
a serious evidence based research approach to the table, the
closed mindlessness of a few people takes over. Now, it's
truly disappointing that it community would embrace the spooky season
for entertainment, but they would reject genuine, serious exploration. Our

(02:08):
apologies to everyone who was looking forward to this show.
So I just wanted to put that out again. You know,
we We've said it a few times, and look, I
also want to put this out. This isn't a bash

(02:29):
on religion, but this is a bash on people who
try to make it their life's work to go around
and do things to people right, purposefully hurt somebody. If

(02:51):
you don't like what we do, turn the channel, plain
and simple. You don't like it, there's a button you
could push and never again. If you don't like the
ghost hunting and you don't like the stuff like that,
turn the channel.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
We've never bashed anybody's faith or anything now. We're just
looking for answers.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
That's it, and that's that's all we've ever done. Yeah,
and unapologetically, that's all we've ever done. We're just trying
to to find the truth. If you think you know
the truth, that's cool, We're okay with that. But to
purposefully make sure something doesn't happen, because it doesn't conform

(03:41):
to your belief system, is bs. I'm trying not to cuss.
I'm sorry, but I'm a little mad. I'm frustrated because
it came down to the last minute that we were
told we could not do this live tonight because people

(04:03):
got emails that told them whatever. Right, we don't know.
We have never been told who the email came from
and exactly what it said, but whatever it was, it
shut down our interview or our live investigation tonight. So
I'm a little frustrated.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Yeah, so we're going to a little show, hopefully little
last at least thirty minutes on the Bible Belt and
the controversy on the Bible Belt and paranormal.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Right, Hello Michelle, Hey Michelle. You know again, this is
not a bash on people or religion or anything else.
Hello Oscars, Hello Oscars. But this is a bash on
is that someone would go out of their way to

(04:59):
do something to somebody just because they don't like it. Right,
That's what this is a bash on. This is a
bash on that very thing. And if you do not,
that's cool, But why are you coming straight after us
for something that we do? You know what I mean?

(05:20):
And that's exactly what it is before we start. We
do have a couple of new books out. This is
The Haunted Ledger. What do you think about that? It's
really pretty? Then we have You won't be able to
see it too well, but you will be able to
see it. A comprehensive guide to paranormal investigations. These are

(05:45):
our two new ones that are out.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Find them on Amazon.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
They're on Amazon. They're also on our website, paranorm before one.
Do please if you buy them, leave a review for
would really love that and for people who are close here.
Hey Roger, Hey Oscars, overly overstoked Oscars. I'm glad everybody

(06:16):
could make it. You know, Jason I was talking about
this before. He told me not to say nothing yet.
But we're thinking about doing something and it's it's kind
of despite these people. We have a location that's a

(06:38):
private location that we're thinking about maybe opening up to
just a few people at a time to do and
investigations with us. Maybe if you've never done it before,
learn equipment right, Learn what equipment is, learn how it works,

(06:59):
all that good fun stuff. Uh, definitely email us info
at Paranormal four one one dot org. If if this
is something that's just even interesting to you. Again, this
isn't something we pull the trigger on. We're just kind
of putting fillers out right, Jason, that's it, just fillers.
What we're thinking about is that for the initial cost

(07:21):
of doing it, you'll get these two books, both of them.
We'll leave an autograph autograph them for you, but you'll
get these two books and our two newest books, and
and then of course we'll bring all of our equipment.
If you don't have any, teach you how to use it,

(07:44):
the whole nine yards and in a place that we
know is very haunted and it's a place that we
can control and no one could shut us down. So again,
Paranormal four one one dot org is our website and
if you want to so, yeah, that'd be a pretty
cool idea. Dave and Jason email that to us at

(08:08):
infil ap Paranormal. We'd just like to see how many
yes as we get from that to see if it's
something that we should pursue or say, heck with it,
we'll just ghostun it ourselves, all right. Sorry.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Also, today we had some sad news in the Bigfoot world.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Yes we did.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Doctor Jeffrey Melbourne Meldrin Meldrim passed away a big uh,
a big influencer in the bigfoot world.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Yeah, he brought a lot of legitimacy.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, you know, we'd like to for you to remember
his family. Yes today.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Yeah, it's really really sad that he passed.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
But now the topic tonight's show the Bible Belt and
paranormal investigations. What's wrong with these people?

Speaker 1 (09:09):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
You know, the American South is associated with strong religious
identity in a rich tradition of ghost stories, focalore, you know,
all that stuff. While these two aspects seem distinct, they
frequently come into conflict, creating a profound tension for those

(09:32):
who investigate the paranormal like me and David. The controversy
between paranormal researchers and the communities of the Bible Belt
is not merely a debate over whether ghosts exists. It's
a fundamental clash of worldviews. So this disagreement stems from

(09:54):
two completely different understandings of the supernatural. Now there's two
sides to the veil. Paranormal investigators typically operate from a
framework that seeks to document the phenomena with scientific tools.
We use EMF meters thermal cameras, digital recorders. You know,

(10:19):
we try to find evidence of ghost which they often
define as the lingering spirits of deceased people. So the
goal of an investigator's yeah, So the goal of a
paranormal investigation is to understand and document these intelligent or

(10:43):
residual energies with the hope of helping the spirit move on.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
It's an approach rooted in curiosity and a search for
proof of life after death. So the dominant Christian view
in the Bible belt largely based on conservative Protestant theology.
It holds a different perspective the Bible teaches. Now, this

(11:13):
is not bashing a Bible, it's just a fact. The
Bible teaches that after death, a person's soul goes directly
to a final destination, which is Heaven or Hell. So
the idea of a soul remaining on earth as a
ghost is not a part of this doctrine. Consequently, any

(11:37):
spiritual presence that mimics a deceased person is believed to
be a deceptive demon or an evil entity. Now, the
Bible warns against attempting to communicate with the dead, viewing
it as dangerous and the practice can open the door
to spiritual harm.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
It does say that, but I mean, and that's something
as a paranormal investigation. When you're doing paranormal investigations, that
you're aware of the possibility of things happening. Yeah, but
you've also got to be aware that the fact that
the majority of the times you go somewhere, nothing's going

(12:19):
to happen. Yeah, and then when things do happen, a
lot of times it's.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Not intelligent and it's not demonic demonic no, but I
mean absolutely not. People have been taught here and around
here in the Southern South that it's a oh lord,
it's a demon it's not natural, right, Yeah, But we're

(12:48):
just looking for the truth, that's it. And there's something
out there and it's not exactly what everybody is saying.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Right, So, so there is a profound difference in belief systems.
There's also a difference in cultural history. Now, modern paranormal
investigation has been shaped by a cultural obsession with the unknown.

(13:19):
Now it's fuelled by popular TV shows and online communities
that present ghost hunting as safe and accessible hobby. And
I don't know too much about safe, because I mean,
you could have perils a lot of people go into
old abanding buildings. Well, there's not everything safe about an
old abandoned building. You probably have more to worry about

(13:41):
the building fallen or you've fallen somewhere in a building,
than you do of something hurting you physically. That is
a spirit, right, you know, And that's in our book.
Read the book.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah, And I know with this new movie that just
came out, The Conjuring, it's a good move. Stripes, I
mean Ed and Lorraine Warren, they they publicized demonic scenes,
I mean.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
Because that was from their aspect of it. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
They were a devout Catholics, right, So I mean that's right,
it's just wild.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Yes. Now it's often seen as a fun way to
explore history and the mysteries of the afterlife. Now, the
faith of the Bible belt is built on generations of
tradition where the Church has been a central authority on
all matters of life and death, morality, and the unseen world.

(14:45):
So for many a biblical explanation for the supernatural is
not only one that they have ever known, and it
is not as a choice, but as an absolute truth.
And they don't see it any other way. If you're
not from the South. It's really hard to understand where
we're coming from, you know, it really is. Is.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
When me and David first started doing this, I had
family that called me double worshiper. Yes, we were devil worshipers,
and I've never worshiped Satan in my life. Actually, I
went to church for a long long time. What's funny
every time the church doors were open. I'm not bashing

(15:28):
any religion, but there's something out there after death, yes,
and we're trying to find out what it is.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
That's it. It's curiosity, that's all it is. Now. The
differences in belief creates a pretty significant cultural and practical clash.
So a paranormal group may view a haunting as a
case to be solved with technology and documentation. However, the

(16:00):
local communities guided by faith may see the exact same
events as a form of spiritual warfare that requires prayer
and deliverance ministry because it works. Yeah. This conflict becomes
particularly intense in small towns aka Louden When a paranormal

(16:22):
group wants to investigate an old town building like we
wanted to tonight, something like a historic courthouse or an
antique theater, and it touches on a sensitive issue. Now.
To the people in the town, the building is a
source of community pride in local heritage. The idea of
an investigation might be seen as a disrespectful or even

(16:44):
a dangerous act that could invite evil into a cherished land. Yeah,
like we haven't heard that before. The controversy often splits
the town between those who see the building's ghostly reputation
as a potential tourist traction and those who view it
as a grave, moral and spiritual threat. This clash of

(17:05):
commercial interests versus deeply held faith often becomes a public
debate that puts neighbor against neighbor.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Exactly.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
It's sad that we have to even have this show. Yeah,
it's sad. I don't know. So.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
The public nature of the debates he was talking about
is a defining feature of the controversy. Town council meetings
become forums for heated arguments, with local business owners lobbying
for an influx of tourism while pastors and concerned citizens
stand firm on their spiritual objections. These scenarios are not hypothetical.

(17:52):
Numerous small towns have faced this exact dilemma when approached
by a paranormal group. The media coverage can sensationalize the issue,
putting pressure on officials to choose between you know, economic
opportunity and the spiritual comfort of their constituents.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
Boy, that hits close, doesn't it.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
At a personal level, many individuals who initially reach out
to a paranormal team to deal with the haunting ultimately
turned to their pastor or a faith leader for a
definitive spiritual explanation, and that recategorizes their experience from an
intriguing mystery to a genuine spiritual threat.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Right again, people all of a sudden saying, oh no,
this is demonic. Yeah, so you know, for many in
the Bible Belt, the solution to a haunted house is
not an investigation, but a spiritual intervention. It's a religious

(19:04):
cleansing or an exorcism, exer, yes, get out now. This
leads to friction when paranormal investigators are viewed as intruders
or even worse, as collaborators with evil forces. Oh, David
are evil?

Speaker 2 (19:25):
I see your horns.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
I was pretty mad after it got canceled just hours
before he was going to do an investigation. The controversy
plays out in various ways. Uh, from communities being unwilling
to allow investigations on their property, to invigital individuals who
initially sought out paranormal help later turning to their church
for guidance, Which is fine, there's nothing wrong with that,

(19:51):
you know, but don't let other people you you from
what it is that you believe, right, I think that
it's it's okay to believe both. You could have faith

(20:11):
and still believe ghosts surreal, Right, that's possible. We know
too many people, Jason that that way.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Tons of people we've interviewed them, were friends with them. Yes,
they're devout Christians, but they believe in Bigfoot. Now some
of you have psychics. How is that possible?

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Why?

Speaker 2 (20:32):
How can you believe in Bigfoot or aliens and and
still have faith in Jesus?

Speaker 1 (20:40):
I guess they just have faith.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
I mean it can, it can happen. You don't have
to give up your religion to become a paranormal invest
paranormal investigator.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
It's just it has nothing to do with religion.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
It gives you a little more knowledge of the spiritual world.
Can you tell we're agitated? So the controversy between paranormal
investigators and the Bible belt. It's powerful. It's a powerful

(21:21):
example of how two different world views can interpret the
same event. I mean, it's just there. It highlights the
issue isn't about the existence of supernatural phenomena itself, but
about what classification it is and the correct response to it.

(21:46):
So for paranormal investigators, it is a field of scientific
inquiry based on empirical evidence. And for a lot of
people in the Bible Belt, you know, it's just a
matter of spiritual faith based on a divine text one
side trust and instruments to the other in scripture. So

(22:10):
this fundamental divergence makes genuine understanding difficult, ye, because they're
not simply debating facts, but the very nature of reality itself.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
And this ongoing clash a thermal camera isn't a match
for your faith, right right, no match, and we've seen
that today.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
What what's sad to me about all this, you know,
is the fact that we even have to have a show.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Just a vent I mean, this show is venting.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
This is a venting show. And again it's not a
bashing show. We're not bashing people spiritual beliefs oh at all.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Because at one point in time I had those same beliefs,
and they're still embedded in me.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
The only thing that I'm mad about is the fact
that everything that we were doing and going to do
tonight for our live investigation. If you look at any
of our live investigations that we've done, they're all on YouTube.

(23:30):
Every single time we do this, we go above bar.
If someone doesn't want a name a place, we can
do that. We could keep people's anonymity. Anmity could be anonymous.
You could be anonymous here. You know. The problem is

(23:54):
is that when certain people can email somebody and whatever
it is that they said can be so definitive that
they say, eh, never mind and shut the whole thing down. Yeah,
after all the time effort that we've put into it,

(24:18):
all the time that we put into looking into these
places and getting the history of these places, and so
then we could bring you the best of what it is.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
That's what aggravates me, David, is it's not about just
the paranormal evidence that we can collect. The history is
what what I like about it me too. I love
the history of an old place. Yes, and maybe we
could have uncovered some some fascinating stuff about that building, right,

(24:53):
and maybe that's what they did wants to find.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
I don't know. I just know that it's it's sad
that you can go through the motions to do something
and then these people just be heck with you, And
it makes me not want to work with more people

(25:17):
in this town. To be honest with you, makes me
just want to say whatever and we'll go somewhere else,
because there's other towns that's invited us to do things
with them. Yeah, and maybe Louden County is just still
stuck in the sixteenth century. Maybe they want to hang

(25:38):
us or burn us at the stake because we're witches
or something, you know.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
But I mean, we'll be hanging from the light poles
in the morning, right.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
It just seems to me like they're stuck in that
time to where it's that bad. Right, what we're doing
is so terrible that they just want to hang us.
And that's the way I feel about it. That's that's
why I'm so mad about it. I've just been trying

(26:08):
not to let it define me. But when we have
things in our lives that press those buttons, it gets

(26:28):
you mad. That makes you want to be someone that
you're usually not right, or someone that you're trying not
to be anymore, we'll even go there. You've got to
have a way to vent this stuff out, and luckily
we have you that will let us vent to you.

(26:57):
You know, doesn't mean that I have eight living in
Loudon County, Tennessee, but this is not the first time
in this town that we've had this kind of thing happen. Right.
That's why almost for letting it get to me like

(27:19):
I have today, I should have been almost like, yeah,
par for the course. But there's something about it when
you get to the ninth hour, when you're just this
close away and you're about to get to do it,
and it's something you love to do, and you want

(27:40):
to bring this information out to people like all of
you that are going to listen to this and watch
this when you're denied that again after all that we've
put into doing that show. Because there's a lot that
gets put into doing these shows, and the live shows

(28:03):
are harder. They're a lot harder than these shows. The
live shows are really hard. I mean, this is a
live show, but I'm saying when we're doing live investigations,
it's much harder because we've got to try to keep
everyone entertained at the same time that we're doing what
we're doing. But you know, we just it all comes

(28:30):
back to we feel terrible that for some time now
we've had it out that we're going to do this
and then we have to cancel it at the last minute,
and we just wanted to show our frustration. That's it.

(28:51):
To show the frustration. We think everybody that's been on
Facebook after Jason published what I talked about at the
beginning of this and has commented on it and everything. Look,
if anybody in this area knows some good places that
we can go and do some live investigations and reach

(29:17):
out to us. Yeah, info at Paranormal for one. One
dot is a great way to do it, because we
check our emails all the time, right, so that's one
of the best ways you could reach out to us.
Through our Facebook. We check that pretty often. I have
most of that stuff turned off on my phone because

(29:39):
it just dings so much sometimes and I try to
sleep at night time and it's like ding dinging, So
I turned all that stuff off. Email is probably the
best way. But either way that you feel comfortable and
you live in our area and there's some great places
that you know about, let us know, and if you

(30:01):
want to come investigate with us, let us know. Oh yeah,
well we'll be happy. And you know, like I said earlier,
if you're interested or think that it would be a
good idea for us to do what I talked about
at the beginning, let us know. Please at Paranormal four
one one dot. Like I said, you wouldn't be get

(30:22):
just nothing, right. We would let you use our equipment.
If you have no equipment, we will teach you how
to use the equipment. You would get to investigate, but
you would also get our two newest books. Yeah, I
would think that would be pretty good. So, like I said,
if it's something that you're interested in, just email us.

(30:44):
And I want to thank everybody for you know, showing
up tonight and and everything. And I'm sorry that it's
kind of a downer show. That's not what we normally do.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Yeah, A lots happened this week anyway, this year's happened, A.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Lot's happen this year. This this week has been a
rough one too. I'm in yesterday, you know, things that
happened yesterday and stuff like that. It's it's pretty terrible.
And yeah, I mean people need to we need some

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
