Un radiodramma per voci, i cui personaggi sono gli abitanti di ieri e di oggi che con le loro parole mettono in scena un possibile ritratto di una piccola comunità raccolta in una manciata di strade e vicoli di Roma. Questo non è un radiodramma da recitare e ascoltare insieme alla radio, ma una serie di quattro podcast. E a parlare sono i personaggi incontrati, conosciuti, riportati fedelmente o solo per sentito dire, le loro storie più o meno vere, ma anche i frammenti di materiali di archivio, cose lette o episodi visti in giro, testi di email e post recenti, suoni e rumori del quartiere. Di drammatico c’è tutto il resto. A prestare la voce narrante, un noto sintetizzatore vocale, che sembra venire dal futuro ma che a volte scende giù in strada, al bar o dal barbiere, per ascoltare meglio le voci di questo luogo che racconta di morte, fame, radici, ma anche d’amore.

Non si sta in paradiso a dispetto degli angeli, ma chi ci vuole stare. Al quadraro vecchio si ama abbastanza, ognuno a modo suo. In una baracca fatta scuola, sotto la finestra degli innamorati, al botteghino dello stadio. Curiosando tra le case, se non fai attenzione, qualcuno ti potrebbe conquistare con due teneri occhioni.
Lo chiamavano nido di vespe. Queste quattro strade collegate da cento vicoli tra via Tuscolana e Tor Pignattara. Costruzioni spesso spontanee, tutte vicine le une alle altre, e tutte diverse come le piante. Non importa che tu venga da lontano, qua al quadraro stai a casa tua, al sicuro.
