and spare of hypnotherapy. Kevin, what inspired you to go
down this path to be a hypnotherapist?
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Well, you know, divine intervention is what ended up happening
because this was not in my wheelhouse and I never
had any interest. But I was in transition from my career,
and when I'm in transition, I always go back to academia.
I go back to school. So I found a school
here in Los Angeles that was college accredited, and I said,

why not let me check it out? And the rest
was history.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Oh intriguing. What was the strangest thing you've seen?
Speaker 1 (01:14):
You know? I get that question a lot. It's an
awesome question because I think what they see on TV
in the movies is cessational part of hypnosis creates that question.
I take presenting issues for what they are. There's no judgment.
Everyone has a different lifestyle that they're living, so they
have different barriers or blocks.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
And that leads me to the next question because a
lot of people are really looking for life meaning and purpose,
So why would no therapy work for them?
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Because there is a lot of negativity, a lot of stress,
a lot of anxiety happening in our world, and we
need to understand and have tools to prohibit these things
from affecting our lifestyles so we can continue to achieve
our maximum potential in life.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
So for our listen, what's something practical they can apply
every day to get into this natural state.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
It is a process like anything else, but to block
out and to recenter and refocus your mind and body.
You take in three deep breaths, you close your eyes,
and you just focus on something positive. And if you
do that throughout your day, anytime you're feeling overwhelmed, stress
or anxiety is really taking you over. That's an incredible technique.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
I love that. I think that will go a long
ways with a lot of our listeners. Kevin, how is
it that retraining this subconscious helped people create meaning in
their life.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Excellent question. So basically, the subconscious mind is a makeup
of eighty eight percent of our brain's capacity. This is
a huge filing cabinet. It's a storage facility where all
information from even when we were in our mother's womb
was accumulating. So the information sitting in there. So there's
positive information and there's no negative information. So what happens
(03:02):
in the hypnotic state. Your mind is like a computer.
I'm the computer programmer, and basically I deprogram the negatives,
take it out, and replace with the positive behavior. Because
the good news is all behavior is learned behavior. Your
subconscious mind has no filter. It doesn't think for itself.
(03:22):
It's only programmed to do what it's told to do.
But as an intellectual human being, we realize that these
things are blocks in our lives and they need to
be removed. Hypnosis is the natural, organic state to remove that.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
What are your thoughts on AI and the human mind?
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Right, because AI right now is a little scary to
a lot of people out there. Would it really replace
the human mind?
Speaker 1 (03:50):
I think that it's already started, and this is some
of the issues that are coming into my clinic where
people are becoming completely reliant on this. There are no
shortcuts in life. You have to do the work on
the positive side. There's a lot of great things that
are happening with and obviously, but again, like everything else,
there's a dark side, there's a light side, and so
(04:12):
we have to take that responsibility to balance it out
in our lives, to use it when we need it,
but not to allow it to go deep into our
personal lives to control it.
