Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wamp wam wham boy. Every time I hear that, I
know it's time for Relics Radio. How's everyone doing? DK
here from Adventures in Dirk. Glad to see you again
on another Wednesday night for Relicx Radio. Boy, Sure hope
all of you have gotten out and got to do
some digging and uh now you Tony and I did too.
Matter of fact, I bring him on. We can talk
(00:20):
about it. You know this guy? Hey, have you ever
been over to fifty two eighty Adventures and see exactly
what he's doing over there? Because it's pretty cool stuff. Hey,
did we catch you? What'd you just have in your hand?
Did we you? Oh? My bad? It's Wednesday. Roll, it's
(00:45):
radio time. I'm being good.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
You are being good.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Actually, mine's filled. You got that little sissy glass, I
got the big strugglings. Nice. Nice, it's gonna be one
of the few Wednesday to your brother. How's it going man? Wednesday? Yeah,
it's going good. It's going good. Just this week, just
trucking along.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
I know. We we've had like a crazy just non
stop going like half a week so far. We went
out detecting on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Yeah, it Sunday. We went it was Sunday. Yeah, we
had beautiful weather.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Holy cow, we got we went out to some good
sites and and uh went over some sites we've been
over before, went and found some news sites that weren't
too far and that's fun. You know, a couple of
them seemed like maybe they haven't been detected before. So
we're not going to complain about that at all.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
That's right. That's always fun man, when you can find
oh my gosh, because of what you're finding and because
you know, no no signs of dig holes or anything,
and then what you're finding. Plus as far as we
had to walk to find these places, you know, you're right, you.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Got to put boots on the ground and find the
spots that other people weren't willing to put boots on
the ground at.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
So that's right. So another and then went out.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
There and then Tuesday last night, Yeah, we had a
big Rushed to the Rockies meeting. Why don't you tell
everybody what Rush to the Rockies is.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Rush to the Rockies is Colorado's National open detecting seated
detecting hunt event. That's what you're gonna call it. Yeah,
that's what it is. So the Eureka Treasure Hunters Club,
which is a club that Tony and I belong to,
been around since nineteen seventy three. Huge club, very active.
(02:33):
They are putting on this year the Rush to the
Rockies Rendezvous twenty twenty five. It's a seated hunt. You've
been seeing all these metal detecting hunts going on and
all these events going on all over the country. Rush
of the Rockies has been around for a long time.
We didn't do it last year, we'd lost our place,
so we did it in twenty twenty three. It was awesome,
(02:53):
and we're doing it again this year in Kiowa, Colorado.
Beautiful Kiowa, Colorado, and we want to invite everyone to
come on out out and join us for this three days.
So Friday's kind of like a Friday's kind of like
a check in time, and we're gonna have the Beginner's
Field open for those of you just want to get
(03:13):
your feet wet, and you know, we pick up all
your check in information. And on Saturday, we're gonna have
three hunts, and on Sunday we're gonna have two hunts,
including a free and then an additional free kids hunt
on Sunday, and then we'll wrap things up Sunday evening,
but should be a lot of fun. The boy the
planning I don't know how many people we have on
(03:34):
the planning committee. We are about fifteen and I think
so our agenda is about five pages long. Every time
we get together on that and Nancy, the person that
runs this for us and kind of helps keep us
in line, she goes down everything and we talk about
every single thing and we just beat every every topic
(03:55):
to death, you know, until we're all agreeable to it.
And it was pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
It's very well planned out, very well organized, and we
are trying to really go over every detail.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Yeah, you know, I'll speak of this. You're ready. How
many trash cans are we going to have?
Speaker 2 (04:11):
That's that's a line item on our roster, on our
our list to discuss. So talking about detailed. We're going
to have an incredible event. And what did you go
over the dates?
Speaker 1 (04:23):
No, not yet, go for it May thirtieth, May thirty,
thirty first, and June first. So May thirtieth through June first, Friday,
Saturday and Sunday right here in Colorado. So come on
out and see Tony and I and everyone else, Jeff
Lubert and all the other people. Uh yeah, with Eureka
that come out and put this hunt on. Somebody told
(04:45):
me we might be broadcasting live from the Hunt here
ONUS radio, maybe multiple once day. We'll have to see
with man on the street interviews of people that dot
com and how they're doing.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I've got a list right here, yeah, and I wrote
I I started a list just for what we need
for Relics Radio. It's a half a page long already.
So line items after line items, We're gonna be stacked.
We're gonna be live. We're actually gonna have a really
good time. We're gonna actually hoping if we can to do.
Are you smarter than a relic Hunter? Live from RELICX Radio.
(05:17):
We're gonna just pull people over and just hey, sit down.
We got an hour, forty five minutes. Are you smarter
than a relic Hunter? Let's go. So it's gonna.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Be a good time.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, And I know I'm speaking for you as well.

off and the price gets higher, So you want to
get in before that cut off, you know. Just make
sure that we get all the money in so we
can buy all the silver and buy all the stuff
we've already bought, just tons and tons what I do?
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Did I?
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Ever?
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I don't think I can pull it up. I'll shoot
those pictures, yeah, yeah, those pictures I had.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
We've put it.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Out on Facebook. You guys can see. I mean check

Speaker 2 (06:28):

Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, look for Troy wants to know a cost on it.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Yeah, so what I I think it's what.

join us for Relics to the I'm sorry, rush to
the Rockies. It's gonna be a good time.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I mean, let me see if I can show this
over there real quick. Let me share my screen, present,
share a screen? Which one is it?
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Well, I got a lot of screens open right now.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yeah, I know, we were just we're talking. Just given
what we're gonna try and accomplish tonight, this will be
the most heavily produced podcast we've had.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
In the Relics radio history. That's it.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
We're gonna have a good time.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
To be a lot going on. I guess I can't
share it, so okay, but go head over my facebook page,
Ken King's Facebook page and go a couple posts down
and you'll see some images of some of the coins
we're throwing together right now. It's it's just a start,
but it's already looking pretty impressive, and it's only three
of the five hunts, so that out, Yeah, awesome, lots
(08:02):
of stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
What are we going to do tonight?
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Tonight we're going to talk about uh an activity. You
and I had the pleasure of being involved and when
though I forget even when it was I'm getting old.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Yeah, let's we'll give a little bit of background here.
So we've kind of we've put this out on social media,
we've we've released some pictures, we've talked about it sometimes.
But back in twenty twenty two, you and I got
to actually go out with a production company from England
and produce an episode of Metal Detecting for the BBC
(08:39):
and we got to meet with some talent what they
call talent and the biz. I mean, now that we're
in it, you know, we can we can make talent,
you know the bit. Yeah, but we're finally kind of
we've been talking about this for like almost two and
a half years about how are we going to present
this kind of show it and kind of go over
(08:59):
tell a whole story from beginning to the end, and
we just said, you know what, let's just go with it.
Let's go with it right now. And talk about it.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
So, yeah, because they're not really showing that in the US, right,
it's only right.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
We got a hold of a clip. Our little segment
is only like ten minutes long, but it's packed packed
full of really cool stuff. It's a great storyline, and essentially,
you know, for the next hour and seventeen minutes, we're
gonna just kind of tell the story about how it
started all the way through to the end. We've got pictures,
(09:35):
we've got videos to kind of share with everybody and
just kind of talk about this experience that we were
able to go through.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
You know. Yeah, we've been so lucky to.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Meet people all around the world through this hobby and
do things that you just never imagine you're ever going
to get to do, and doing a TV show that's
one of them, you know, going to events, going to England,
across the Pond of Metal. I mean, the things that
we've been able to do is just been incredible, and
we just wanted to kind of share our experience with this.
So I'm really excited.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
If you got any questions and we roll along, just
throw them in the chat.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Yeah, absolutely, be very interacting, like Tony said, Yeah, Tony said,
it was a really cool experience.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Like when we left the day, it was like there's
many days leading up to it, but the day of
filming was actually just one full day, and when we
walked away from it, we were like, man, that was
a blast. Like this whole experience has been really fun. Yeah,
and especially getting to know the people. And we'll talk
a little bit about that later.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Yeah, and I want talent and then we had crew
and so right we're like eleven minutes into this, and uh,
with everybody who's here right now, if y'all are watching,
like I said, we're gonna we're okay on pictures, but
we're gonna try and show some of this video in
different little small segments and talk about it. If for
some reason we get booted off here from Amazon for
(10:57):
copyright whatever, sit tight, we'll jump back on we just
you know, we won't. We won't put the video on it.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
So if I tried to show the entire video on Mike,
immediately blacked it out, took an I away, completely removed
it from my channel. So yeah, if that happens, Tony,
I will start a new live stream right which you
all can come over and join us on and we'll
just get started again, so because we're gonna be showing
little clips of it here pretty soon.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Yeah yeah, just see, I'll know.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Yeah, So how did sort of we'll start with how did?
How do we get involved with a company from UK?
Speaker 2 (11:35):
This is actually pretty cool?
Speaker 1 (11:36):
I mean, a couple of dorks in Colorado.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Right, I know, So I got it. I got an
email from a producer. Everything looks professional, you know, talking
about who they are, uh, you know, who they worked for,
what they want to do and things like that. I
got this email and you know, and I'm not trying
to blow smoke up my own butt or whatever, but
these come through frequently. You know, most of them we
(12:03):
believe aren't even real or anything like that. It's just
kind of spams kind of stuff. But I sent this
one over to Ken, and I'm like, Ken, check this out.
You know, this sounds actually pretty cool, and I know
you did some research on the guy that sent it.
Ken is like a sleuth in terms of track don't
ever commit a crime on my radar. He knows, he knows,
(12:24):
he knows how to track you down. But he tracked
down I mean, who this producer was and kind of
went through a couple of different avenues and said, yeah,
I think I think this guy's legit.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
So and his name Daniel mcgid magid.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
We never really figured out. We just called him Daniel Daniel.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah. So he's a he's a he's a producer forget
this are you ready?
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah? For Ramsey Studios. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
It turns out it's Gordon Ramsey Studios.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
So he's got a studio, he produces shows. What else
is him doing it?
Speaker 2 (13:02):
I watched two or three of his different TV shows
a week with my wife, So it was pretty cool.
It was pretty cool to be able to hear from
and so I mean I think, I replied back, and
we and we set up not as it was almost
like a zoom call. It was a zoom call, and
the three of us kind of all sat down and
(13:22):
talked and introduced ourselves and listened to him and listened
to his pitch and listen to kind of our ideas
and our input to the show and things like that.
And I would remember from that call, Oh, I remember
he was he was talking about what the idea of
the show was.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
He didn't really give us the name of the show.
It was an idea about following in the footsteps of
this lady, Isabella Bird. She was an explorer from the
eighteen hundreds. And we'll talk a little bit about Isabella
here in a minute for those of you that don't
know about Isabella. Amazing woman. But he didn't give us
the name of the show, and he didn't tell us.
(14:04):
He kept talking about this talent or the celebrities. He
kept calm the celebrities, and I said, do you know
who you're talking to now? But he wouldn't say who
the celebrities were.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
No, we took us forever to find out who we
were even going to be out with. Yeah, we we
had more details about the show, the location, the the
idea about what direction they want to go, the background
on why they're doing it for quite a while.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
And I think we didn't hear from We found out
on our own. I think what the Navy.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Show againies were super you figured it out.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
You're not going to believe these people were going to
be detecting with. But but yeah, it was. It was
a lot of fun. We got along really well with
Daniel on He was saying, look, you two are exactly
what we're looking for. Let's let's put let's let's proceed
and blah blah blah. Yeah, and we were like, okay,
(15:03):
what's next and he was like, all right, well, work,
we're coming to town at this date. We're going to
be in town for this many days and we need
to nail down a spot. That was kind of like
that's what he was doing, right, He's like, we need
to nail down a spot, and I go a spot
for detecting. He goes, yeah, you guys got to help
(15:23):
us out with that. He goes, right, he goes, but
we've met a lady up in this area where we're
going to be and she helped us get our filming permit.
And she happens to be a tourist guide with the
entire area of the entire She knows everything about everything,
She knows everybody, so she's a great contact. And she's
(15:46):
looking for places and I think we want to hook
you guys up so you guys can get together. And
uh so we're you know, where everything's sounded good. We're like, yeah,
this all sounds great, so you know, we'll get to
that in a minute too. But we ended up meeting
up with her and kind of looking at some places.
But we, uh, we kind of went through a few
(16:07):
different interviews and they were kind of just talking about it.
So you want to go into Isabella Bird now, or
do you want to talk about Yeah, let's talk about
a locate.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Let's let's let's we'll share the location where we were.
Yeah sure, yeah, No, let's talk about Isabella Bird. How
that came about, kind of the background of the premise
of what this whole TV show was about, where it
all started.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Yeah, this is the last.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
That's Isabella Bird.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Yeah. So Isabella Bird. Yeah, she was born eighteen thirty one.
She died in nineteen oh four, so that's the time
period she was alive. And it's amazing when you read
about her life and her travels as to being a
you know, a woman in this time period doing some
(16:58):
of the things she did pretty amazing. So she heard of.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Essentially like a woman doing the things that she actually did.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
She traveled by herself, right, She went to Japan, she
went to Tibet, she went to the Rocky Mountains, she
went to the Sandwich Island, she went to Cheers Knees,
she went to Persia A, Kurdistan, Korea, the Yan Yeah, Yang,
how do you say that? Yang? Stee Valley yeah, yang
(17:29):
Yangee Valley. Anyways, she went all over. She just spent
a lot of times exploring, a lot of time exploring.
And I remember some stories about her that when she
would ride a horse, she would wear trousers, which was
absolutely unheard of and quite a scandal, the fact that
she would wear trousers when she would ride a horse.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
And she would ride standard, she wouldn't ride right right.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
So she was, you know, quite a character. But she
wrote books. I'm looking at maybe ten or twelve books
right here that she wrote. The one for Colorado's called
A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains, And it's really
cool if you're from Colorado, because it really gives her
impression of an eighteen hundreds lady from the eighteen hundreds,
mid eighteen hundreds, the impression of the Rocky Mountains, Colorado,
(18:19):
Rocky Mountains. I think she came here in eighteen seventy three,
so mining boom was in place. She mentioned a lot
about that. She ended up going to Estes Park, which
is a beautiful, a beautiful town here in the Rocky Mountains.
I think she ended up meeting a mountain man out there,
and I think they had a little tryst. That's what
(18:40):
the things they write about her a little hookup if
you were. And yeah, there's a lot written about her
and stuff. So that's what they were kind to do.
And they were kind of like trying to follow in
the steps of Isabella Bird and try to capture the
spirit of her as this exploration wanted to talk about
(19:00):
mining and they know, of course they want to talk
about metal detecting. Here's what they were trying.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Yeah, I want to bring that up, but uh, yeah,
anybody's interested in it really just tells about it tells
about her trip, which again was the kind of the
premise of of uh coming through Colorado and and going
through the same areas that Isabella Bird was there and
(19:27):
what she saw and what it compares like to now
nowadays Verses eighteen seventy three.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Yeah, and I think that book had all kinds of
different covers because I'm looking, there's tons of different colors,
different covers to that. You can just find it in
Ladies Life in their Rocky Mountains, so pretty cool. So
we're like, hey, that's a pretty good premise, you know,
but how metal techting fit into it? And so like,
you know, well we understand sort of m Colorado was
all about treasure hunting and mining for gold, and we
(19:55):
understand metal techting is alive and well and blah blah blah,
so that that's what they were. They were trying to
get into it.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
So what's next, So we had to find a location. Yeah,
and we did the boots on the ground, the running
around to a couple different places, kind of knowing what
they wanted. We kind of knew Colorado more than they did,
so we did more traveling and looking at some different locations.
(20:24):
We met with that lady who took us out to
some some up in the mountains on some mining claims
that she had permissions on and that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Some cool places we would have never even gotten on
had it not been for her. I mean, the original
was the first mine in that area. So we were
in a town called Central City, which is a big
gambling town, mining town here in the Red Yeah. Yeah,
so we were looking there were also looking over in
Russell Gulch and yeah, and once we were up in
(20:55):
Central City, she was introducing us to mine owners, like
this guy that owned like one hundred eight patent mines
and he just like was your grandfather man he was
one of the coolest old guys. We just remember it
was like, yeah, it was like, uh Andy Griffith. I
was walking with him almost like Andy Griffith Semini are
walking and just r on the side of this mountain
(21:16):
looking at the most beautiful sites, and He's just man
a few words and I was asking him, like, what
are you going to do with all these tailing piles
and stuff? Hintend walkin right, yeah, hey, And he was
just like he was just such a cool guy. And
so we're trying to find a place that would work
for us to metal detect Now, Tony and I know
(21:36):
about metal detecting. These people knew about the sites and
the mining of the town and the areas. We were
looking at the mining areas they were showing us. It
wasn't really working for metal detecting, no, like it was.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Yeah, it's just big tailing piles, you know, with like
an old an old mine on it. It wasn't picturesque,
it wasn't historical. You know, where people gat it was
where they were they mined, they brought out all that
or and then they left it there. You know, a
lot of the feelings there everywhere, lots of iron iron
everyone not very good for detecting and trying to find
(22:14):
relics from that time.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
But she said to me when we were up to
this one spot, she goes, I think this would be
the best spot. So we had heard they were bringing
twenty three crew members in thirteen vehicles from the UK.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
They travel lightly, Yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
So this lady was telling me, look, this would be
a great shot. We'll bring all the celebrities up here.
They can look gather right here by the mind. You
guys can metal techt over here, they can park all
the cars over here. She goes, I've already been talking
to them about it. So Tony and I were like,
this isn't very good for metal detecting, Like, yeah, you're
talking about mining. We're not going to meddle a mining, right,
(22:53):
So we're looking for the place where these people lived
and where they left relics behind so that we could
tell the story of the people that lived here. And
so she wasn't really we were kind of missing, but
she had convinced me that she had already talked to
the producers and everything was set pretty much. So when
you and I went back to Daniel the producer and
(23:15):
met with him, He's like, hey, how'd it go. We said,
it didn't go very good, you know, I said, but
you know, if you already got things hooked up with her.
She shows the place where she's going to have you
guys come, and man, I don't know. And he goes,
wait a minute, what are you talking about? Right? He goes,
we don't have anything arranged with her, and I said,
(23:37):
well you don't and he said, no, we haven't talked
to her about anything. Oh. She she made it sound
like all this was set in stone and we're they're
going to park the cars and everything. She goes, He goes, no, no, no.
So basically it was kind of a waste of the
day because we went up there and didn't We were
trying to make something work, you know, and it just
wasn't working. And so then the hunt was on for
(23:57):
Tony and I to go find a place that was
more in line with where we wanted to metal detect
right right, And uh, that was that was quite a
hunt that we were sharing maps Tony. Remember I'm sending
you maps, I'm circling houses in trees, I'm doing all
this stuff and.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Just kind of the normal stuff that we do. Anyways,
but in a very specific area because that's where we
needed to be. Was was right near Central City.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Right, So I mean, I'm asking the producer to ask
the guy that owns the mines, do you know some
old houses that are back in the woods, some old
shacks or something, And nothing was really coming back. So
we just kept sending him images of places and locations
and how far from Central City and all this stuff,
and boy, we were coming down to the wire because
(24:47):
they were planning.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
We did before. We got it locked down the weekend
before they were they were coming, and they came during
the week so it was just it was probably three
four days before they showed up and we actually locked
down our mission a good sight and make a final decision.
But I will say Daniel trusted us. He actually put
a lot of faith into us and said, you guys
(25:09):
are the experts and you and I kind of have
an eye for video kind of thing too. I think
helped a little bit as well. So he went with
what we had really pushed and decided, and yeah, it
worked out pretty well.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Great backdrops, Yeah, it was great blackdrops for sure. So
you want to say where we were, yeah, absolutely, So
we found Tony and I end up finding in Russell Gulch.
There's the old ghost town of Russell Gulch and it's
got a bunch of old buildings, broken down, old books,
(25:44):
and there's this old like livery barn or maybe it
was a blacksmith shop, cobblestone like all broken down and stuff,
and it was awesome, Like, I'm like, that's the place.
Tony's like, that's the place. There you go, there's the
old blacksmith shop. So places like that right, just perfect
with a bunch of land around it, and we're like,
(26:05):
that's where we would want to meddle the tech and
it's beautiful there. It's in the middle of all this
this this valley with all these trees like that is
exactly it. The only the only caveat to that was
that the guy that owns the land was not returning
anybody's calls we were trying to. He actually put in
(26:26):
a frisbee golf course at this old ghost town. It's
called the Russell Golch. You can look it up Russell
Goach Goulch ghost town Frisbee golf and you can see it.
And so we knew there's have to be ways of
shooting around these little frisbee golf baskets. But it was
just perfect. You know, it's been around since the early days,
from the time that Isabella Bird came through there, these
(26:48):
some of these places would have been there. So we're
just on the hunt to try to get this guy.
The producer kept trying to get a hold of him,
and then we finally did. We finally nailed it, finally
sunk it down. That's Daniel there. We yeah, yeah, so
we've been talking him on the phone. This is when
we first finally met him. Uh. Just a cool guy man,
(27:10):
just really friendly. He's been doing this for a while
with Studio Ramsey. So yeah, it was cool. We nailed
down this, this Gulst ghost town. Mm hmmm. Where do
you want to go from there? Because that's uh.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
I think as we cover that, Yeah, let's talk about
the talent because before we get into the video, let's
let's identify kind of who was with us and the
approach that we were going to take, kind of give
it some background and maybe we can look at a
little bit of the video.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah, yeah, so you want to go to George, Well
what yeah, sure, here here's what was cool. First when
Tony and I finally got up there and met the
landowner for this ghost town man, straight up great guy man,
just the great guy, right. He was like this old
(28:03):
hippie guy. Yeah, old grateful, dead follower type guy. And
him and his wife, they were just the coolest. And
when we went in his house you'll, I think you'll
see a little bit later. It was a museum.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
It was just a m This is all just outside
around his house. He's got these old bottles.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Yeah, so much so many relics sitting around his house,
like a museum on the outside, a museum on the inside.
And Tony I just started geeking out with this guy
and he was just as geeking and he's like, come
let me show you this, you know, and he's showing
us all this stuff. All right. So before we get
to the murder house. Oh yeah, look at that.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Yeah, there's there's a little uh little cup was there too. Yeah,
it's all stuffed like surface finds that he had found
right around his house.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Yeah. So this whole area was mining and like you know,
mining and and like boom town kind of you know,
gambling and brothels and the whole thing right in this
little town here. Russell Goltz was a little bit away
from the Central City area. It had kind of all
(29:11):
that too, but much older. Had a schoolhouse there and stuff,
and everything's just run down and you know, big target
on it. For us, We're like, yes, let's see, I
want to go there, and I want to go there
and I want to go there. But he kept talking
about these celebrities and when the celebrities come, and then
you're going to go with these celebrities and you're going
(29:32):
to teach them and they're gonna meddle detect with you.
And then the celebrities and Tony I were like, who
are these celebrities?
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Who is this?
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Let you speak of? Who are you talking about? You're
talking about? Like who is it? And it's like celebrities
as in, like, I don't know some actor? Are you
talking about? Sports heroes? What are you talking about? So
he hadn't shared with us that or the name of
the of the TV show. Oh so you want to
(30:02):
get into the name of the show was Trailblazers, and
they had selected three female celebrities to follow in the
step of Isabella Bird from three different generations, so they
had three different generations of women represented, and they were
following in the steps of Isabella Bird all around the world, really,
(30:25):
all these places, she tried to write. I love the premise.
I mean, it's just it's really good.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
You know, you've got somebody from the eighteen hundreds of female,
very very individual, very you know, strong female. And then
you know, now we're going to have three generations of
females that follow through as well, and you know, tell
stories about you know, what they read the book and
related to what it is now and just a great storyline. Great,
(30:51):
you know, fantastic idea for a TV show, and you
know that's what I thought.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Yeah, and you can get three generations of women and
that kind of makes sense. But yeah, they got three
celebrities with three different generations of and they were all
very strong personalities, very strong women, very strong personalities that
were yeah, we're just very very strong.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
Just do you want to start at the youngest or
the oldest?
Speaker 1 (31:22):
We stopped at the start at the oldest. Okay, there
we go. So her name is Ruby Wax. Again, these
are all celebrities mainly from the UK. There's might be
one or two that you know outside the UK, but
this is a lady named Ruby Wax and she's a comedian.
She gained a lot of fame when she interviewed O. J.
(31:43):
Simpson because she really put them on the spot and
asked them some blatant Uh, you'll have to go look
her up. Just look up Ruby Wax and OJ Simpson
you'll see what I'm talking about. But a reporter kind
of she did a lot in sort of the work
on like she's done a lot to work on depression
and mental health issues over the years. And always comedic.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
Yeah, very strong supporter mental health, women's rights, feminism, that
kind of stuff, you know, very very again, very strong
personality and and uh great lady, you know, great.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Looking at me and going now I see you. I
don't know what she meant about it. She's like, I'm
watching you. Okay. So that's one that was really Yeah. Yeah,
this is uh the second oldest, but yeah, this is.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Melb from from The Spice Girl Scary Spice. Yeah. Again,
strong personality. If anybody watched her, She's been obviously on
a ton of different shows in the media. Uh, you know, performer.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Kind of stuff. America's got talent. America America's got.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Talent, you know, and and and and you know, a
face for TV. Great entertainer, you know, uh been been
in the spotlight for many, many years and just uh.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Yeah, a very very fun personality.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Like if we got to hang out longer, her and
I were gonna be were We're gonna be a little
crew there, the two of us. So she she was
very very much a good time to hang out with
for sure.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Yeah, yeah, definitely cool. How about this one. This is
Emily Atach and Emily is a she's a celebrity. That's
about the way TV shows, TV shows, Instagram model has
done a lot, She's constantly on Instagram. Theres a lot
of followers. She's been on many sitcoms. She's been on
(33:46):
many oh over there, the UK has a bunch of
variety shows where it's just like very sexualized, very kind
of campy and kind of riskue type shows and all
comedic and stuff. But they really push it over in
the UK. And yeah, so that was she was the
(34:07):
youngest she came over. So those are the three ladies
that they brought up, the three celebrities m and we
kind of did the research and found out who they
were and because we wanted to learn about them, and
the producer didn't even tell us at the last minute.
I think he was waiting for our response, You're like, oh,
no way or so. But we you know, we only
knew Melb. We didn't really know the other two. We
(34:29):
had to learn about them. But yeah, so they were
coming over. We had found this spot. Everyone agreed to it.
We had all these cars we needed to fit in there,
which there wasn't a lot of uhh yeah, it wasn't
a lot. It was a lot. The production, yeah, they
sure did. And the plan, the plan for the day
(34:53):
was for Tony and I to get up there, yeah,
kind of get up there early. They had a certain time.
They wanted us to meet at the specific casino to
meet the crew and to meet the talent and kind
of get everything together and they'd let us know what happened.
So there was really no script or anything, but they
kind of directed us as we went along.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
So with with that in mind, you know, we do
a lot off the you know, our videos that we
create are off the cuff because you just never know
what you're gonna find in a hole. You know, you're
you're if you know any history about it, you got
to you know, put interject that into a video. So
you know, off the cuff doesn't seem that that difficult.
But when what surprised me is at the size of uh,
(35:43):
the size of the production. I'm surprised at how off
the cuff there was. There was a small you know, hey,
this is what we're gonna this is what we're kind
of looking for, and it was like, all right, go
And it was amazing how well it kind of all
came together, especially after we got out of the casino
and we warmed up a little bit, you know, it
(36:04):
got a little bit more comfortable. How well just kind
of off the cuff it went. You know, there wasn't there.
Like you said, there was nothing scripted, but when we're
outside of the casino and we'll get to that part
of the video as well, there was nothing that was
scripted about that. That was just us Metal attecting and
finding things and having conversations about it and bringing in
(36:25):
isabella story and history of Colorado and what you know,
the United States and all those different things. Everything was unscripted,
which I thought was amazing. So you know, I'm talking about, like,
you know, being in production. Yeah, how surprising it was
to me how unscripted it was and how it flowed
and how it turned out.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Yeah, like you'll see it later. We're going to show
some video clips of the show, but hopefully yeah, they
let us. Yeah, yeah, it turned into a competition between
a couple of the celebrities. And we had all no
idea it was going to do that, but but yeah,
it turned into that, and all of a sudden we're like,
oh man, it's on you know a right because you
(37:05):
know you and your buddy can get competitive about that, right, Well,
these girls, they can get really competitive, and I guess
it's a thing between a couple of them, and well,
boy whoa Emily.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
And mel they you know, they had they had the competition.
They were the you know, the younger of the three,
you know, and and and you and I detected with
them more than we were with Ruby. But yeah, it
got to be like like competitive, you know, oh my gosh,
Well they found that. We got to find something better,
you know, and we gotta re we got to up them.
Yeah what they found, we can do better than that.
And it was it was actually a really good time.
(37:38):
And again unscripted off the cuff.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
Emily would find something, she'd go, does that beat there?
Whatever you guys found exactly that, and I'm like, oh, yeah,
that beats that. And she's like, we beat you, you
know what I mean. Like, she's like, I.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Found this and that's right, that's right.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
Yeah, you want to try and start the video?
Speaker 2 (37:57):
You think we can?
Speaker 1 (37:59):
Yeah, we can. So during the shoot, they bought all
these things up, each one of those, and the celebrities
had like a motor home and a big old escalade
and all this stuff carting around and a whole whole
team of people kind of hurting them around and taking
care of and fawning over them. But when we got
(38:19):
up there was cool is that?
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (38:22):
Tony and I both had a film crew that were
which with each of us, and you'll see that we
basically Tony went out with Melby and I went out
with Emily and each one of so us as a team,
as each of us had our own camera crew. Yeah,
there was a sound guy who was the coolest, was
(38:45):
the coolest out of everyone we met. I'm like, man,
you must have heard a lot of stuff over there.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Yeah yeah, but behind the scenes, like that guy, because
everybody's miked up and he's got everything into that I
don't even know what the heck. The machines are called,
but all of them are coming into here and he
can hear everything and he's making adjustments on the sound,
so he hears everything from everybody all at once. You're
up over on this side. I'm up over here, and
he can hear two different conversations going on. And yeah,
(39:14):
he had some stories. I know he did.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
Yeah, we have these, you know, we had these films
each Each one of us had a junior producer with us,
a junior director, assistant director, and a film crew must
two cameras I think on each of us, and then
uh and then this assistant director. So they were falling
Tony and mal they were following me and Emily, and
they would take different shots in different angles, and so
(39:37):
that's what you see on the video as the result
of that. We filmed for a long time and we
just got a little segment into this into this show.
So yeah, we can try and play it. Here we go.
If again, if you're just joining us and this gets
kicked off, and it'll just shut down this stream if
it gets kicked off, and we will start up a
new stream and just continue chatting.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
Yeah, why don't you pro office while I pull it
up here? What what the beginning is.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
So in the beginning, you're gonna see uh. So, these
gals have kind of traveled around. It's gonna show the
girls in a jeep kind of coming into Central City
as they're exploring the area, and you're gonna see them
coming into the Uh, you're gonna see them coming into
the valley, which is Central City, which is an absolute
beautiful place to go. And we checked the audio beforehand.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
We should be okay, but if you guys can't hear it,
let let me know right away.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
Yeah, let's do.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Let's do a short clip. It is gonna be backwards, by.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
The way, I don't hear it. I don't hear it. Okay,
mm hmmm. We trusted, we tested it before the show.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Nope, I didn't click the right link.
Speaker 1 (40:55):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (40:56):
Okay, Well, have you ever gambled?
Speaker 5 (41:06):
Yes, I love a casino, but it's terrible because you
never know what time it is.
Speaker 7 (41:11):
In there because they're pumped it with that.
Speaker 4 (41:12):
Yeah, they don't pops in that. No, we're on the
second leg of our journey and heading deeper into the
Rocky mountains.
Speaker 8 (41:20):
Inspired by Isabella's memoir about her travels, Isabella did gamble she.
Speaker 4 (41:27):
Would like, have you ever don't like so I almost
didn't understand that that's really wanted. I was just going
and going and.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Go, truly, Yeah, I don't hear you.
Speaker 8 (41:45):
Now we're on our way to Central City, now known
as a gambling mecca.
Speaker 4 (41:52):
In the eighteen hundreds, it was called.
Speaker 8 (41:54):
The richest square mile on Earth because that's where they
had a gold brush.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
In eighteen fifty.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
Nine, Hey, Tony, you want to stop it? All right?
So that Pintro was there, come through the big Monarch
casino that was a giant casino right through the valley,
and uh, we want to what am I hearing something's
going on? Nope? What have you got going on? You
(42:26):
guys hear that. I don't hear anything.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
It's like anyways, uh coming through Monarch, that jeep, Yeah,
oh yeah, I've got you know what, I don't have
the Have you got that picture? Yeah, it's I thought
I had it. I don't see it.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
I don't tell people about that jeep because it was
it was pretty cool. Oh my gosh, I do see
if I can get it.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
Okay, So this jeep is like decked out to the till.
I mean they they pulled up and we started just
you know, and the talents there. We were more interested
and look at that thing about our production. That's just
that jeep from the opening scene that we saw all
(43:16):
of the different camera angles and wires going in just
to record that.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
It was absolutely amazing. So they had a trailer vehicle
in front shooting them when they're driving all this stuff,
recording them when they're on the inside of the jeep.
And I asked the guy who owned the guy walked
over and owned the jeep and he's like pretty impressive.
I'm like, man, that is just amazing. And he actually
this jeep is from Colorado. And all this guy does
(43:44):
is he leases this out to movie companies. Yeah you
know what I mean. So he sets it on to
believe they won it. And we were just you know,
being YouTube guys. We were just like, look at that.
I'll look at that. We were talking to the camera
crew all day long, like oh cool because they were
putting like GoPros on this shafts of our metal detectors. Yeah,
and he was giving us advice on kind of what
(44:04):
what kind of clips do you use and all kinds
of stuff.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
It was.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
It was a lot of fun, all.
Speaker 2 (44:08):
Right, very cool jeep and one thing I will say
what we learned. The more video, the better you can
always you can always cut it in post production. But
the more that you have, the more that you can
work with, and the better it's going to come out.
Rather have too much than not enough, That's what I mean.
Just that jeep. I don't know how many cameras are
(44:29):
inside that thing, every angle, you know, I don't.
Speaker 1 (44:32):
Yeah, Bill's comment, whoever own's that jeeps can have a
fortune cleaning all the suction cut marks off of it.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
You got that right, That's right, that's right. Now keep going,
Yeah we can.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (44:47):
Ignited.
Speaker 8 (44:52):
By the time Isabella arrived in Central City, the area
had become the center of mining in Colorado's Gold Rush.
Fortune hunters came here in their tens of thousands. So
this is from Isabella's book because she hated mining. Agriculture
restores and beautifies. Mining destroys and devastates, turning the earth
(45:15):
inside out, making it hideous, and blighting every green thing
as it usually blights man's heart and soul, all its devastations.
It's devastation. Excuse me, are you guys listening to me?
Speaker 1 (45:29):
They're like they're like nope, so she yeah, so, uh,
she's right, Isabella and Elizabella books. She wasn't she wasn't
a fan of the mining stuff, but right, she was
awesome to make friends coming to the place.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
No, but so they're they're coming down the street and
and they're going to meet us in uh this casinos
is the ideas. They're walking down and all of a
sudden they stumble into us kind of deal inside the
SS the premise.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
So this was all of us hanging out back of
this casino that you're going to see in a minute,
waiting for all kinds of stuff. Like we were just
sitting there waiting for all the celebrities to show up.
They were out doing different filming. I know Emily was
out doing some Instagram photos and stuff, and we're just
sitting around and got a chance to kind of talk
to a bunch of people. You know, this is just
(46:20):
their jobs, so.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
They're just kind of hanging out, right, right, there's a
lot of hanging out. If you're not in the prime,
the prime scene, you're doing a lot more hanging out
when they're kind of doing these scripted type of scenes.
But for you and I, once we got introduced to it,
there was a lot more involvement for.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Us, and there was only a couple scripted moments in
this thing, and you'll see one of them coming up
here in a little bit, at least for us.
Speaker 4 (46:58):
Any one and single.
Speaker 8 (47:00):
Having left Britain in poor physical and mental health, she
hoped to find a remedy in the pure mountain air.
Coming from a life of needlework and teaching Sunday school classes,
she landed in the wild West, a world of swindlers, scoundrels, desperadoes, and.
Speaker 1 (47:17):
Whiskey addicts, whiskeyatics.
Speaker 4 (47:19):
She said that nobody's anyone who has not killed a man.
Speaker 7 (47:29):
Up gambling and porium.
Speaker 4 (47:31):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
Yeah, Emily the one that points out there's a pub
and gambling.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
Yeah, she was all about it, But so is em
So was Melman. Yeah yeah, off camera she was really
interested in the gambling and she's like, oh, I want
to try these slot machines, you know. So it was
kind of right seeing her be real for a minute.
Speaker 8 (47:59):
Today, the old mining towns still have treasure to uncover,
and we're hoping to find some doc in here with
the help of Ken and Tony.
Speaker 9 (48:09):
Hi.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
Welcome to Colorado.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
Thank you, thank you, so we're supposed to find gold today.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
We will take you out looking for gold as well
as other relics.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
We use metal detectors.
Speaker 2 (48:19):
We'll teach you guys how to use the detectors. And
we find something that's interesting, we'll let you guys dig
it up and see what it is.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
You never know what you're gonna find.
Speaker 7 (48:27):
Yeah, is this what you do for living?
Speaker 1 (48:29):
We don't do it for a living. To us, metal
detecting is like a passion relics of people that tells
the story of the past. We always find interesting. You
can see it all around.
Speaker 7 (48:39):
Us here, So why do you take it is to today?
Speaker 10 (48:41):
We've got an area that we've identified as being one
of the first areas that we're settled around here. Ken
and I know where it is, and we want to
make sure that we don't just take anybody over to
these locations.
Speaker 7 (48:51):
Does anybody else know where?
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Nobody knows right now?
Speaker 4 (48:54):
To blindfold us and take us, I think we should.
Speaker 1 (48:59):
We don't want you to tell everybody.
Speaker 7 (49:02):
Well, you will, I will. I can keep a secret.
I'll just go like that. I can't keep secrets.
Speaker 5 (49:06):
So you're gonna be blundfolded twice.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
Look at that acting they're saying, look at that acting.
Speaker 2 (49:19):
There.
Speaker 1 (49:20):
Well, after we sat in the back of this casino,
they finally brought us inside and told us to sit
against this bar, and Tony and I were like, do
you want us just to sit here or should we.
Speaker 2 (49:31):
Anything?
Speaker 1 (49:34):
So we're just sitting there and we're waiting and waiting, waiting,
and the cameras are coming in, they're getting all set up,
and we're just like waiting and waiting and waiting, you know,
and we didn't know what they were gonna ask us
or anything. And we actually said so much more right
that that whole sequence right now before we're gonna blindfold them, right,
took like a few hours, two hours or.
Speaker 2 (49:55):
So just to get you to that point. Yeah, the
first scene. Yeah, and the director was.
Speaker 1 (50:01):
Like, oh, we're gonna have you blindfold him because it's
a secret location for metal detectors. And so we're like, okay, yeah,
I'll go with that. Sure.
Speaker 2 (50:10):
Yeah, but again off the cuff, there was no script
on what you know. They gave us that and said hey,
we're gonna we're gonna blindfold you. Let's get through that.
And then you know, Ruby says, are you going to
blindfold us? And it was like, yeah, I guess we are.
Speaker 1 (50:22):
I'm like, what do we say to that?
Speaker 2 (50:24):
You know? It was great how they cut it in there.
Speaker 1 (50:26):
Well, I don't want to, but the director telling me
that's what we're gonna do.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (50:32):
Yeah. Another thing I will say too is, uh, Tony
and I were trying to be very polite and in
the UK television not so much. Totally different. So there's
a number of times where they were trying to get
me to not be so polite, and it just was
I was shocking to me because I was like, wait
(50:53):
a minute, you know, but we'll get more to that
in a minute.
Speaker 2 (50:56):
All right, let's get out. So we're heading out to
the site. Now. We were taking them out to the
site that we found, and we do blindfold them and
take them out there so they don't tell anybody about it.
Speaker 8 (51:07):
Right, Once the gold dried up, the mines were abandoned,
and today Colorado is full of ghost towns like this. Well,
clearly we won't be able to tell anybody where we are.
Speaker 4 (51:21):
I'm working shit myself, okay, all right, all right over here,
cure you're a kinky take off the mass.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
This is an actual ghost town.
Speaker 10 (51:32):
There's a lot of history in the ground, and you
guys are gonna learn how to find it.
Speaker 8 (51:36):
I'm only going for gold. I don't want any trinkets.
I can get them in the gift shop.
Speaker 1 (51:40):
We don't know what you're gonna find, but what you
will find will be remnants of who is here back
in the day of Isabella Bird.
Speaker 4 (51:48):
We'll be using metal detectors to hunt for treasure.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
Simplex, where did we bring them? Yeah, just leave that frozen.
We had there's a turd right there. We had the uh,
we had the Noda simplex, and we had a couple
Garrett Ace apexes. The apex had just come out at
that time, so we had a couple of when we got.
Speaker 1 (52:14):
Them all Garrett pouches, we got them all my gosh, diggers,
we got them all pinpointers, We had gloves for him.
We had knee pads for him. We got them all
and they had us come over and put all that
stuff on them. So I remember, like me being a
plight gentlemen, right, I'm like going to put on these
knee pads around Emily attack and I'm like, you know,
kneeling down around her knees, you know, And I look
(52:36):
at her I'm like, is this okay? You know, I
have to ask her. She's yeah, you know, go for it,
and yeah, I just didn't snap them on. Let's go.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
So we're gonna start detecting here and going through the areas,
and this is where you kind of uh have some
of the interactions. You know, Ken breaks off with Emily,
I break off with mel and Ruby, and there's the
interactions of different areas now that we're in and uh,
what we're find they're starting to find out there.
Speaker 1 (53:04):
Yeah, they're only going to show you certain aspects of
the detecting, but we detected, yeah, detected.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
Oh yeah, there was quite a bit, quite a bit.
Speaker 7 (53:12):
Got the tug from animal, probably a dog.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
The machines are on.
Speaker 1 (53:19):
You're gonna slip your arms through the cuff here.
Speaker 4 (53:21):
This is very terminator.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
Yeah yeah, you're gonna swing it back and forth. You
want to keep the coil.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
As flat as possible.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
You don't want to come up like this.
Speaker 7 (53:28):
Where's a good spot?
Speaker 4 (53:30):
Does it make a noise when you say it will?
Speaker 2 (53:32):
And you'll hear a tone.
Speaker 4 (53:34):
I've got something.
Speaker 1 (53:36):
I've got something metal piece, so you can hear what
it sounds like.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
Something seventy nine sixty three.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
Yeah, so these numbers are telling you ferris versus non
Ferris material, and they're also telling you about the size
that it's reading. To me, that sounds like it's a
big piece of iron that is not worth digging up.
Speaker 2 (54:00):
I will say, I love how they edited the lady's
saying all the different numbers, you know, which mean nothing
to anybody unless you're a detectorist, and you know, everybody
that's watching and listening, you know, is going, oh ninety one, uh,
fifty seven, seventy three, They're going, yeah, don't dig that.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
It's jumping all over the place. But it did capture
their excitement because they were just like they saw any
number like what I got them because they were getting
hits everywhere, you know what I mean. So they just were, yeah,
come over here, I got a thirty five, and you know.
Speaker 2 (54:28):
Well, it's it's it's you know, it's what we do
out here in Colorado. There there are sites and there's
targets everywhere. I mean, if you don't discriminate out the
iron or if you know those, it's it's just non stop.
So I mean that's kind of the site that we
were at as well. So you know, all of us,
being the experts, you know, per se and detecting, we
understand what all that's telling you. But somebody who's never
(54:50):
picked up a machine before, you're going crazy because the
machine's going crazy.
Speaker 7 (54:57):
Okay, come on, does that some gold ked? I mean,
you can help me if you.
Speaker 5 (55:02):
Want, all right, but it is my spot that I.
Speaker 4 (55:04):
Found it on.
Speaker 8 (55:05):
If I help you, I want credit competitive already.
Speaker 1 (55:10):
Who oh that sounds interesting. You want to dig that one?
Speaker 4 (55:16):
Nineties here? Nineties here?
Speaker 2 (55:17):
I think you're picking up the shovel.
Speaker 4 (55:20):
Shit, I don't do shovel work. Oh that's a sick stick. Hey, nol,
how old you think that is?
Speaker 2 (55:30):
It's pretty old.
Speaker 10 (55:31):
Not many people can find wood with the metal detect.
Speaker 3 (55:36):
That was totally off the cuff, right, It wasn't scripted.
Oh absolutely, yeah. There was a couple. There was a
couple of little wing zingers that I threw in there
with mel and she definitely she she took to it
pretty well. But now Ruby's kind of getting discouraged, you know,
having to dig and you know, only finding wood, those
kind of different things.
Speaker 1 (55:56):
She actually, you know.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
Later a relic hun her. So she's already bottom feeding.
Speaker 1 (56:05):
It.
Speaker 2 (56:05):
Doesn't think that's right, all right, there's something here.
Speaker 4 (56:10):
There's something everywhere.
Speaker 1 (56:12):
True, isn't it? That's the hunt? No, what is that?
Speaker 4 (56:18):
What do you got?
Speaker 8 (56:20):
That's not an ordinary penny? She had found a penny.
Come on, find something. I hate when she does better
than us.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
Oh, it's an Indian had penny. That is a cherished
fine for us metal infectorate.
Speaker 4 (56:32):
Amazing, this is ridiculous. I want to see the ghost
ome Okay, I'm saying the ghost.
Speaker 1 (56:37):
Town nineteen oh six Indian had penny. Oh my god,
I had the date on there is that six, nineteen
oh six?
Speaker 7 (56:46):
What could you buy with it?
Speaker 1 (56:47):
In nineteen oh six? That would have bought a beer,
a loaf for bread, maybe some cheese.
Speaker 2 (56:52):
Very rare.
Speaker 1 (56:53):
You don't find those with the Indian head on them
because after a certain time they quit making those.
Speaker 7 (56:58):
I'm chuffed to tits with that.
Speaker 2 (57:03):
Again.
Speaker 3 (57:03):
Emily had all the all the curse words and and
funny little comments about everything.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
For sure. She was hilarious. She was. She was getting
very sexual with the pinpointer. That's one of them.
Speaker 2 (57:17):
She was as well. I forgot about that.
Speaker 1 (57:21):
I said, grab your pinpointer, and she's like, oh, you
mean my vibrain. That's in here somewhere. I usually don't
lose them. But you know, it's like she's it's like
and they didn't put I don't think they put that
in the show, but she was. They did not, And
i'ms over there getting red in the face, you know,
I mean, because yeah, what do you do? How do you?
Speaker 2 (57:38):
Yeah, how do you go through that? I mean, you know,
we don't want to be offensive. No, somebody we just met,
you know, especially you know, a female. So it was
kind of funny.
Speaker 1 (57:50):
Yeah, they didn't even show the whole brothel to the
talk of the brothel. Oh, go ahead, we'll get We'll
do this other part and then I'll tell that what
does you said? Stream is unavailable chat.
Speaker 2 (58:10):
I'm still showing. We're streaming. Let me let me pull
this up.
Speaker 1 (58:15):
Here everyone in chat, let's know if you are kicked out,
well you're probably kicked out. If you're kicked out, it's
we're confine.
Speaker 2 (58:28):
Our eight says ye okay, just keep going, just making
sure all right, here we go.
Speaker 10 (58:38):
You could be out at a bar, you could be
chasing women, but instead you're not trying to find history
and go back.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
And yeah, I wanted to rewind this because it was
kind of a cool little uh interaction between Melanie.
Speaker 7 (58:52):
I'm shoft to tits with that. What does your partner
or wife say about you doing this?
Speaker 10 (58:58):
She says, you could be out at the bar, you
could be chasing women, but instead you're not trying to
find history.
Speaker 7 (59:04):
So it's okay, that makes sense.
Speaker 3 (59:05):
Right.
Speaker 10 (59:07):
When I find rings, I give them to her. So
she's got gold rings and diamond rings and silver rings
and from dead people, probably not dead people. I don't
take them out of the cemetery. Yep, they fall off
and then I come around and I find them.
Speaker 7 (59:22):
So that from people that used to be here used to.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
Be correct that I see your point. You stop it there.
So she didn't really grab that concept, but she was
too far. Yeah, yeah, I think she was trying to say,
like the people things were finding here, rings that we
find here belong to people that were live back in
nineteen oh six, and they're dead, but we're now about rings.
(59:53):
I see your point.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
I see your point.
Speaker 1 (59:56):
Yeah, you said adventures and dirt Tonvale. Yeah, that's fine,
that is fine. I wonder why that is. Maybe they're
coming to get you next. I hope not. I hope not.
Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
All Right, we'll keep going. Now finds something good here?
Speaker 7 (01:00:15):
What's that hard work?
Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
You know what this is?
Speaker 10 (01:00:21):
It's a twenty two bullet casing, boy casing.
Speaker 7 (01:00:26):
So this is an actual bullet killed somebody. Could We
don't care about that bullet casing. We've got an engine,
had any cans?
Speaker 4 (01:00:34):
We got roundness. Roundness was round us.
Speaker 1 (01:00:39):
Good for five cents in trade. It's freaking token where
the casinos are.
Speaker 7 (01:00:45):
Emily five dance from Central City.
Speaker 4 (01:00:49):
Why it is so much.
Speaker 7 (01:00:50):
Better than you.
Speaker 4 (01:00:50):
I don't care what they found to this agree.
Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
I mean, just in the little bit of time that
we had started detecting and stuff, I mean, we got
to find an Indian had penny a token and it
was an old token too to uh, I don't know
what a merchantile, mercantile or a billiards or something like that.
That was actually in Central City, you know during that time,
(01:01:18):
probably nineteen hundreds. I don't know if it was there
when Isabella was there, but talk about a great spot
to put them on.
Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
Yeah, it was awesome. Man. We were finding all kinds
of stuff, but they only picked like a couple of
things here. And I remember after she found that token,
the producers came up. A camera crew came up and
it was Ruby Wax, Me and Emily and they were
showing the token and talking about tokens and I was like, oh,
we find all kinds of tokens all the time, and
they're really fun to find. I go, we even find
(01:01:45):
brothel tokens and Ruby's like brothel token. I said, Yeah,
they had brothels in town. They would give out these tokens.
And she said, well, what would a brothel token get you?
And I said I'd be like, you know, they'd probably
say like good for you know, one credit or however
they got around that. And she goes, no, that's not
(01:02:07):
what I'm ask you. What would it be good for?
And I said, so I saw what she was going for,
and I was saying, hmmm, uh, I go good, roll
in the hay and she goes square because they were
trying to get me to say, you know, a good
you know right, yeah, and I just I'm like, not
(01:02:28):
in the UK. It's like I'm used to not cursing
on screen and everything else. Yeah, jeez, funny, but yeah,
she was winning token token fine.
Speaker 8 (01:02:43):
Ever since the gold dried up, the town has been
reduced to just a handful of buildings. Most of them
are abandoned, but there's still a few occupied.
Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
Check out this guy's house.
Speaker 4 (01:02:54):
Oh, press here for help.
Speaker 8 (01:02:57):
Hello Hill Ryan is one of just a few locals
left who looks after the land and can tell me
about its history.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
So this was where the gold mine was?
Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
Was it?
Speaker 11 (01:03:09):
It was originally here? This was the beginning of the
Colorad of gold rush.
Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
Right. They had two three hundred trappers in the state
trapping beaver. One of them found gold, and thousands of people.
Speaker 4 (01:03:20):
Came in here.
Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:03:21):
How much did they make out of that?
Speaker 11 (01:03:23):
Well, the Glory Hole is just up over the hill here,
and it was the largest vein of gold at the time.
It took forty years to dig it out of the ground.
It's like a huge gaping hole in the earth that
looks like the Grand can.
Speaker 4 (01:03:40):
Wow. So that's why Central City is the richest square.
Speaker 11 (01:03:43):
Mind they say that people who got rich off of gold,
it's very small in numbers.
Speaker 8 (01:03:47):
So like for one guy becoming a millionaire, that must
have been thousands.
Speaker 4 (01:03:51):
Yeah, let me just show you this quit. Oh okay,
what's the picture? What does looked like?
Speaker 1 (01:03:59):
Fifth?
Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
I just wanted to say real quick. You know, this
guy's a treasure for that area, because what he's about
to show Ruby just it's absolutely insane, because you can
stand outside there and look and see what it looks
like today, and then he's got a picture back from
you know, one hundred and some years ago. That's pretty incredible,
and it really kind of sets them going down this path.
(01:04:23):
It goes really well with the story that they're trying
to tell as well, from Isabella Bird to the present.
Speaker 4 (01:04:32):
But this looked like in nineteen oh four.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Right here, Oh my god, no trees turned over, every
blade of crass.
Speaker 8 (01:04:41):
They tore up every tree to get in there. How greedy,
you know, is man, that's what Isabella birg. We're following
her and she saw it was disgusting that, you know,
they toured up Well, we're still doing it, tore down
nature just to get their hands on some gold. This
is a real symbol of American greed. They dug up everything,
(01:05:02):
just the way we are now. This is what Isabella
said about I thought this was good. This hard greed
and this exclusive pursuit of gain, with the indifference to
all which does not aid in the acquisition, are eating
up family, love and life throughout the West.
Speaker 4 (01:05:19):
So the same thing.
Speaker 8 (01:05:23):
I grew up with the American dream. That was exactly
why my parents left Europe and they came to America
so that they could get rich, you know, and be
part of the American dream. The wife with the little
outfit and she'd be making muffins and my dad would
come and go, hi, honey, I'm home. And I got
that shunked into my psyche. But I always thought the
(01:05:46):
American dream was about greed, and Isabella said that too.
Speaker 4 (01:06:00):
So Emily you found there? Yeah, it's a pickaxe.
Speaker 7 (01:06:03):
This is what they used to dig for the gold.
And I found an Indian headpenny.
Speaker 1 (01:06:07):
This might be worth something?
Speaker 7 (01:06:08):
Yeah, apparently about six quids. Okay, really, where'd you find?
I found saddle thing?
Speaker 5 (01:06:14):
And this is a token from Central City?
Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
Yeah, central City?
Speaker 7 (01:06:19):
So I could buy quite a lot with that, could you. Yeah?
And then this is a bullet from a twenty two gun.
That's mad?
Speaker 4 (01:06:27):
So what did you learn about the gold Rush?
Speaker 5 (01:06:29):
They came to have a better life and look for gold, right,
who's they?
Speaker 7 (01:06:35):
Americans? Do you live in the American dream?
Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
Live in the American dreams?
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
See?
Speaker 4 (01:06:39):
And what does it have to do with Isabella Bird?
Speaker 7 (01:06:42):
Because Isabella would be disgusted at this. That's it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:45):
Yeah, she got something right.
Speaker 7 (01:06:49):
That was a bit of an experience.
Speaker 5 (01:06:50):
I mean they're a bit bonkers, but then when you
find something, it's really exciting. It reminded me of been
on the beach in Wales trying to scround for some
pennies as a kid like that.
Speaker 1 (01:07:10):
Ye, So in the show, the entire segment of the show,
they go to like three or four other places in
the show and kind of kind of you know, explore
some other areas that relates to Isabella Bird. But that
was it. That was our little twelve minute segment. And
within that twelve minute we were only on screen with
maybe three or four minutes. You know, we have the
(01:07:34):
memories of that day and kind of howpen oh my
gosh that all went and stuff, and it was it
was really cool. There's so many different things that happened,
and like I said, meeting the crew and just seeing
how they all interact, and you know, it's their jobs,
so when they're there, it's like they're on.
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
They're on.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
It's like we broke for lunch and they ordered a
ton of like these little mini twelve inch handmade wood
fired pizzas from up there. I mean this they had.
I don't know how many of those they had. Yeah,
thirty of those pizzas come in and it was cool
because everyone got to have some and they had all
chat and stuff, and other guys would just be like
(01:08:13):
going off on their own. It's like, I'm working, this
is my break, don't talk to me, you know, and
and other people were just like wanting to know our story,
and it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
Was, yeah, it was.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
It was really cool.
Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
I had bought that the book Isabella Bird's book, prior
to getting up there, and I was able to have
all three of them autograph it, write little notes in
there to me and stuff like that, and just a
little bit more to kind of take away from the
whole experience.
Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
I've got some like the behind the scenes videos here
we can also show this was I'm gonna pull this
one up here real quick. And over here Ruby is
is doing kind of the a one on one interview.
You can see the cameras on her. And then down
over here we come to find out it was actually
(01:09:00):
Ruby's birthday, and so Emily and Mel got her a
cake and they're trying to sneak up as she's doing,
you know, a little segment and stuff, so it's I
think it's forty seconds long on this one.
Speaker 9 (01:09:17):
I think it a litle by.
Speaker 1 (01:09:53):
H That was fun. There was another there was another
thing that happened that we didn't know about. It. Mel
and Emily were sitting over kind of chatting. They were
interviewing them. There were just filming them, just chatting about
different stuff. And Ruby was over in that same area
and I guess Ruby's terrified of cats, and you saw
(01:10:18):
it earlier in the show. But the owner of the
land has two or three of these cats, and so yeah,
that was them hanging around. So they were they kept
looking over at Ruby and they're like, oh my gosh,
she's gonna flip out because there was a cat coming
up behind her, getting ready to rub up against her leg.
And that woman jumped about ten feet and almost jumped
(01:10:40):
in the arms of the land owner. And these two
Mel and Emily started laughing like I've never heard anybody
laugh before, hysterically hysterically laughing because she was so scared
of cats, you know. So yeah, it was it was
a good time. I can't find we did a video
before we went over to the casino. I can't find
(01:11:00):
that I can't find that.
Speaker 4 (01:11:04):
Mm hmmm.
Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
Yeah. So it was a fun day, man. We it
was good to have that experience, I guess, you know.
I mean it's kind of real corny and you know,
not for everybody, of course, but it Uh, here's one
of the cool things. There was a house up there
on that property, oh yeah, that they call the Murder House.
That's well known in the area. It's got all this
(01:11:28):
legend behind at the Murder House. And the reason it's
cool is because it kind of ties into that coin
that Emily found. So in nineteen oh six, this guy
killed his wife and a nine year old son in
this house and then hit the road right there in
Russell Coach. So if you look up murder House, Russell Coach,
(01:11:48):
you'll find the story. There's something to do with you know,
finances and stuff like that. Anybody killed them. They didn't
find these these bodies for a month, and so it
became this huge, this huge uh I think it was
in nineteen oh four, nine, nineteen oh six, but this
huge kind of death scene, a terrible, terrible, terrible and
(01:12:11):
they had to end up they end up finding this guy.
I don't know the states away. Maybe I can't remember,
but they were trying to get us to go up
there to do some filming up there, and the girls
were a little squeamish about that. But when we left
that place, they actually invited us to come back and
metal detect that place. Yeah. Yeah, they turned it into
(01:12:35):
an art studio now these days. And I know he
took Tony up there and I and he gave us
the tour. Are you addicted to the production process? Okay, yeah,
you know practically, Ken, It's ah, it was fun to
experience that. I know, as YouTube guys like we're we're
(01:12:57):
not addicted, but we really like filming, getting all kinds
of footage and then coming back and editing that together
and thinking about our editing and process as we're filming
and putting a lot into it that we think people
might like to watch. So in that process, yeah, we
really like doing that. In this process, to me, I
(01:13:21):
had more fun checking all that stuff out, meeting the crew,
seeing how they do that. Oh wow, look look how
they're doing that angle shot, and why they're doing that,
why the two cameras are set up the way they are,
not knowing how this would turn out later, how the
directors are working, how all the people under them are working,
(01:13:42):
and I was really interested in that and all that
and all that happen and then how it turned out,
Like it's like, oh wow, now that I see how
it turned out, and I could see why they were
doing this and that at the time, I didn't know
they were doing a lot of that stuff or what
they would cut cut out and what they would use
is comic relief, you know what I mean. Yeah, so
(01:14:02):
I can tell you a little bit that Tony and
I had have been involved with another type of situation
like this that we'll talk about a little bit later,
but that was the same way, right. The other experience
like that we had was the process and seeing everyone
behind the scenes and how they all work as a
team to produce things that they don't know what's going
(01:14:25):
to end up on the editing floor or not. They
just are there to capture as many things as possible,
for many angles as possible. You know, pine Combe falls quick,
get that on camera, you know what I mean, like
like stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:14:38):
You know, well, I also think you know you you
and I from from from the sense of how we
film we generally do it, you know, single you know
you've got one, one or two cameras and we're setting
up a shot and trying to get ourselves in it
and things like that. If you and I had a
production through that follow us around, Oh my lord.
Speaker 1 (01:14:58):
Yeah, especially after that lasts answer I got, I'd like,
we got I need I need a camera crew now.
So much so much from that, but yeah, it was
just called cool seeing how Yeah, you know, it might
be quiet. Every time I talked to me, I was like, man,
is it hard being away from your family like this?
And they're like, no, We're used to it. Like we
(01:15:19):
go away for a certain period of time when we
worked this show, and then we get back, kind of
like working on a cruise ship, right, they get they
get a get to go visit family every so often,
and uh.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
A lot of travel, a lot of travel. Yeah, but
these celebrities they were taking care of man, they were
in escalades and they were just they had they had
whole crews that were just there pampering them, taking care
of them, making sure they didn't need anything, taking them
to their own lunches away from everyone else.
Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
So there was a bit of you know, of course,
there was a bit of a separation there, but each
one of those individuals has you know, gained a lot
of fame in the UK for different different reasons and stuff.
So Tony I were just a couple of dumb you
know metal detectors. Were like, yeah, I thought it was cool.
They last were our hoodies though with our you know,
(01:16:09):
our YouTube channels on it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
Yeah, that part was cool. Yeah, we couldn't have like
Nike swoosh or under armoured type things. But you know,
we were like, hey, can we just just have our
YouTube channel? They said, yeah, that's fine. So but overall,
I mean, the whole experience was was absolutely phenomenal, you know,
to to to see from from start to finish, you know,
the introduction, talking to the producers, you know, boots on
(01:16:34):
the ground looking for locations, getting out there and searching
and I'm gosh, I am. I was pleasantly surprised at
the stuff that we were able to find, with the
girls leading the way with the detector, you know and going,
oh what do you think about this? Uh no, I
think that sounds like iron. Let's go to the next
Oh that that that sounds sounded good. Try that? Yeah,
(01:16:57):
I think you should dig that. You know, we were
able to find some some good stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
I just tried chatting and it said that looks like YouTube.
Your YouTube live chat is disabled. Man, they must have
really did a number on my channel.
Speaker 2 (01:17:14):
Still going, can you still chat?
Speaker 1 (01:17:16):
Can you put in a check? And yeah, yeah, yeah,
I have been interesting, but I must I might be
in trouble. Trouble I hope not.
Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
I don't know why mine would be, Mine wouldn't be.
Speaker 8 (01:17:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
Yeah, good experience though, And and like you alluded to,
we've had additional opportunity after this that we can't really
discuss too much yet, but we will very soon. We
should be able to disclose some more information about some
upcoming stuff that we're really excited about. And we'll try
(01:17:57):
and kind of do the same thing again once we
get to that point. But uh, just a really really
cool experience, you know. I think that's what we took
away from it, you know, when you and I got
done with that night and we kind of debriefed about
our side of it. What an experience, you know. Yeah,
you know, we don't do it for for fame and
(01:18:18):
fortune or anything like that, for sure, but just the
experiences that we've had through metal detecting, you know, meeting
people and doing things that you know to like you
said to to dorks from Colorado that actually got to do.
Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
I mean, shoot, yeah, the uh we did get paid.
Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
We did. We will disclose that we did get paid
for a day's worth of work. We couldn't retire off
of it, but we got paid.
Speaker 1 (01:18:50):
Right right, so you know it was better than not
getting paid. So absolutely. Yeah. So when I answered some
questions us questions come in, did they get to keep
the detectors? No, we snatched them right back from there.
Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
Those were our detectors. We actually supplied the everything that
for the metal tecting side of it we bought. We
bought uh, knee pads, gloves, pouches, and then used our
supply of detectors and pinpointers. So no, they did not
get to keep the detectors. But we did offer them
the the bags and stuff, but.
Speaker 1 (01:19:29):
They didn't want any of it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Maybe Emily took the pinpointer home. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
That's good ones, that's a good one. I'm like, where'd
that pinpointer go? And she's just like walking away a minute. Ah,
that's funny. I had to say that.
Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
Come on.
Speaker 1 (01:19:53):
No, when they were done, they were done, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
Yeah, they certainly were it was.
Speaker 1 (01:19:58):
It seemed to enjoy, you know, as soon as they said.
Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
It wasn't the.
Speaker 1 (01:20:03):
Right right, so it's all cool. Did they have good food? Whoops? Yeah,
while the.
Speaker 2 (01:20:18):
That pizza you were talking about was actually pretty good.
Speaker 1 (01:20:21):
Yeah. So we got there after breakfast. We started around
ten o'clock and they actually had lunch before we left
to this site. So just just before noon, they brought
out some local company there in town makes these killer
little mini or not many, but like ten inch twelve
(01:20:41):
inch wood fired pizzas, and they just ordered all kinds
of them, like these stacks of these boxes started coming.
Speaker 2 (01:20:48):
There was like so many of them.
Speaker 1 (01:20:51):
It was really good pizza. Like if I go back
to Central City, I'm having some of that pizza. It
was really good. And then they had salad and they
had you know, salad stuff set up so you make
yourself a salad. They had a bunch of drinks, so
they yeah, they you know, they all the crew was
eating that, and the celebrities went off for their special lunch.
But right, yeah, all the crew was eating that. We
were hanging out.
Speaker 2 (01:21:11):
I enjoyed that time though for us kind of away
to then kind of bond with the crew and just
kind of eat you asked a lot of questions, and
you know, with us just taking in the whole the
whole situation, the whole experience, it was.
Speaker 1 (01:21:25):
You know, we were just kind of a fly on
the wall.
Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
We definitely were trying to nose our way in and
talk with people or hear their side of things.
Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
And this lady showed up out of the blue right
before we got gone, and she's like, where's Tony Wor's ken?
So we're like, here we go. And she gave us
a COVID test, right she had to. Yeah, she had
was a COVID right because this was twenty twenty two. Yeah,
anybody's gonna be on screen with the talent has to
have this COVID test.
Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
I forgot about that.
Speaker 1 (01:21:53):
That's right. We're sitting there getting our noses swa.
Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
Yeah, she was a registered nurse and she had to
come and minister it to us.
Speaker 1 (01:21:59):
Yeah, they paid her and brought her in. She was
cool too. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
Ski Search was asking if we gained any more followings
on YouTube after the show aired. I don't. I don't
think with it only being BBC and we haven't been
This is the first time we've actually showed the video.
It's not on YouTube. You know. It's the first time
we really we tried to really show the video here
on YouTube. So no. I mean we've kind of talked
(01:22:30):
about on social media a little bit and people think
it's cool and everything, but I don't think we've gotten
a different kind of following because of it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:36):
Yeah. No, it only showed in the UK. It's kind
of hard to get that here unless you have unless
you know how right right.
Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
I do want to say, though, I do want to say.
One day after it had aired, I get a message
from somebody I don't know, and it's a picture, and
it's a picture of someone sitting like on their couch
looking at their TV that's up on the wall, and
Trailblazers is on the TV and this person I wish
(01:23:05):
I could remember who the heck it was because I'd
love to talk with them more about it. But they said, hey,
just saw that you're on Trailblazers and thought i'd let
you know. They were in England watching BBC and this
aired on their TV and they're like, I know that guy,
and I don't remember who the heck it was, But
I was like so humble, but I was like, oh
my gosh, like somebody reaching out from England sending me
(01:23:26):
a picture going, hey, you're on TV here in England.
I thought that was just such a such a cool thing.
Speaker 1 (01:23:33):
Look or Troice in Idaho Springs is a great pizza
place too, they do. I forgot the name of it,
but yeah, Ojo's. I've gone there before and it's really good.
Bojo Bojo's. Yeah, Bojo's. They had those all over they
kind of.
Speaker 2 (01:23:47):
There was one down a loan tree off of four
seventy there Littleton Lone Tree area, but that closed down.
But yeah, Bojo's Mountain pies, that's what they call them,
mountain pies.
Speaker 1 (01:23:58):
And the man, yeah, so said, how do they keep
the digs natural versus having the show plant fines for suspense? Well, right,
good question. If we hadn't found something, maybe they would
have come back and said something right that. But we
(01:24:21):
found some good stuff, like found that Indiana Penny found
a bunch of bottle caps and a bunch of other stuff,
some wire. There was a couple of targets that we
just couldn't find. You know how you get those small targets?
And she's like, come on, I thought you said there
was some excuse me, and she would detect for a
while and then she get tired of detecting, so that
I had and I'd hear a good target sounding target
(01:24:43):
and I go, Emily, come over here, swing over that.
Hear what that sounds like? And then they would film
that and she'd swing over it. A lot of that
stuff they didn't use. Found that big pick axe kind
of in the in that rye grass was there. She
hit this signal and it was just like back back back,
and I go, wow, that's a big piece. And she's like,
what is it. I got let's look in there, and
(01:25:03):
I saw it was this pick axe. I don't know
how old it is, you know, but yeah, I look
at and I go my custom pick axe. Yeah. And
she's like what did they use that for? Because we
over by the blacksmith shop and I was like, what
if that is a pick axe from back in the day,
And you know, they probably threw it away because it
didn't work anymore. And she was just digging it and
like oohing and on and picked it up and right,
(01:25:26):
and all she wanted to know is does that beat
mel Melbe's token? And I'm like, well, no, it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
We love to We we just love tokens. So now,
I mean, I will say we did find quite a
few things that didn't make you know, the show or
their little you know, their debriefing at the end there.
I do remember Mel and I found a fork, an
old fork. I think it was maybe a two two
talk prong or whatever or three prong, so it definitely
(01:25:56):
was old. And I don't think they had enough time
for me to tell our stories. But you know, she's like, well,
you know what, what is what is this from? And
I said, well, well, maybe it was from the guy
at the murder house. He was over here, sitting on
this rock over here, and he's eating, you know, a
can of sardines, and he just had enough of his
wife and he threw his fork down and he stormed
(01:26:17):
over there and he murdered them at that point, and
then he went on the run. And she was like
holding this fork, going, oh my gosh. But it's kind
of like what we do, right, We're making up these
what are the stories of these rolucks that we're finding?
Speaker 1 (01:26:30):
And yeah, we weren't digging at all at this place.
We're being very very selective. We'd run around, run around.
They'd kind of hanging out with the producers. We'd like,
hear this tone, we'd look at it. We're like, we
would dig that Himily come here, and he'd come over
and they would dig it and it'd be like crap.
You know, I'm like, that's metal detecting. Okay, let me
try to find you something else that we might dig up,
you know. And so we were trying to go as
(01:26:52):
fast as possible because we knew they only had so
much time to produce and so only one day. Yeah, yeah,
because we were telling him, look, if we don't find anything,
then you're just gonna have to say, like the junk
we do find, like that was just the stuff that
people left behind, you know. And you know, but yeah,
we found some cool stuff. We were kind of really
ucky to that practical.
Speaker 2 (01:27:12):
Ken said, did they keep the items they found? They
were definitely offered the items that they were found.
Speaker 1 (01:27:18):
Sure, And Emily said she was going to put that
Indian Head penny in her pocket because I told her,
I said, I go put that in your pocket, take
that back to England. I'll become a good luck piece
for you.
Speaker 8 (01:27:29):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:27:30):
Yeah, I'm gonna do that, Ken, I said, okay, and
at the end of the day there now the owner
wanted all the items.
Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
Correct, the owner got that token, which was a pretty
cool token. I'm not gonna lie. Actually, I think I
might have a picture of that.
Speaker 1 (01:27:44):
I don't know how well.
Speaker 2 (01:27:45):
I don't know if it's going to come up well
or not. I can present it here.
Speaker 1 (01:27:52):
Hold on, Sorry, did we research the token and when
the business was in business? I don't think we did.
Nor the land had one just like it, So we
haven't done any of that. Fremont Hall or Harmony Harmony Hall, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
Harmony Hall, Yeah, something like that. It says, you know,
central city and then I think the other side here,
Oh shoot, let's do this. M oh, I know what
it was. Yeah, it was a cool token though, any
(01:28:33):
natural yeah yeah, Like we were just surprised, you know.
It was a natural find. It went to the era
of the time, maybe not in eighteen seventies, but to that,
to that town, like all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:28:47):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
It was really cool.
Speaker 1 (01:28:48):
When Emily found that Indian had penny. Everything they were finding,
I was like, oh, that beats it. Oh, that beats it.
Speaker 2 (01:28:53):
She's like we're beating Yeah, my penny is still better.
Speaker 1 (01:28:56):
Because they would yell out something fork they yelled out,
and I got don't wry a bad they need better
for it, you know, and then when they yelled token,
everything after that is that no, it's not it's not no, no.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
Sorry Ruby. At the beginning, you know, Ruby had mentioned
a couple of times She's like, I'm here for the gold.
So you know, we didn't find gold rings, we didn't
find a gold pocket watch, we didn't find you know,
those kinds.
Speaker 1 (01:29:21):
Of different things.
Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
So the way things kind of happened in the show
and stuff, you know, Emily going with Ken, Melt with me,
and then kind of Ruby going off on her own,
it kind of worked for sure. But yeah, Ruby wasn't
too interested in finding you know, a fork or a
bullet casing or something like that. She was like, I'm
here for the gold, you know, the richest swear mile.
Speaker 1 (01:29:40):
Yeah, you're not gonna find gold. Well we might. That
didn't last too long with her, but cool man, thanks
for everyone for joining us. That was fun to kind
of finally be able to release that a little bit,
you know, really dorky really kind of can't be stuffed
right where. It was fun for us to be involved
in it the experience that will well, we'll think back
on quite bit. Sure. Yeah yeah, all right, man, got anything,
(01:30:03):
Let's get out of here. It's seven po yeah yeah.
