what else? Cheers buddy, cheers biddy. How's it going, Welcome

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah, yep, it's you know I'm gonna get I'm gonna
get a sound bite that's like admonishes you, and I'll
hit it when you say welcome to another Thursday Night.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
And I'm just like a big bunk like hammer. Yeah,
I work on that. Let me the secretary, you take that,
write that down? Thanks? Uh? What else? Are you man?
Doing good? Doing good? Shoot? We got a chance to
get out and I know we did one hundred and
eighty five degree weather.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Dude, I'm sorry, man, I had to cut it early.
I was I was not having it. I was not
it was hot and I started feeling it. I knew
we uh, we had so short story, quick story, because
I then we want to bring Jeff in. But we
found a spot on a map in the middle of
nowhere in Colorado, got permission, and we hike out. It
was probably I mean, we well, we drove a couple
(01:30):
of miles out on the prairie and then we hiked
out to the spot because we couldn't drive right up
to the spot, and we ended up finding the damn thing.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, so that's always fun, man, you know, Oh yeah,
it's like finding gold in the creek. I you know,
do you all the research. You go out there, your
needle in a haystack, you scan all around, you're kind
of looking at each other like it's got to be
right here, and then somebody stumbles on.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Something and you're like, oh here a lot of irons.
Took us a little bit to find it, but we
found it, and then we got on some stuff and
the heat just, uh it got to me and I
knew we had a I knew we had a good
hike back to the truck, and then we had a
good drive out.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
So but you go, now, you gotta let's bring Jeff in.
We'll talk about He goes out and the heat a
lot too. And I'm sure he's got some some takes
on that he's he's a cool cat. He doesn't, he doesn't.
He doesn't get hot because he's cool. Alright, let's bring
this guy in. Welcome to Jeff Lubert.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Not really Monday, not a guest. No, it's not Monday.
It's not Thursday, y'all. I'm gonna I'm gonna have that, damn.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
You know what. We'll we'll do this. We'll just hit
this every time.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
You got that one fired up at least boy that one, Yeah,
that one's on quick button.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Talk about yourselves. I got adjustice camera.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
All right, mister Jeff Lubert, thanks for coming on and
spending some time with us on Wednesday night. And it
was just kind of fitting. You know, the show's titled
We Go to Hollywood, and it's kind of our appearance
on Expedition Unknown and coming up the trio of Us.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
So you know, it's kind of fitty. I really do
appreciate your time.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
You know, you're on Monday nights always with American Digger
magazine and their live podcasts as well. So and we'll
put the link for everything for American Digger in the
show description in the live chat here too. And for
those that don't know, Jeff's also a member of Eureka
(03:36):
Treasure Hunters Club with Tony and I numerous president roles
over the numerous years you've been how long you've been
with Eureka.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
These days we're thinking, you know, trying to figure that
one out. It is either in nineteen ninety eight or
nineteen ninety nine I joined the club, and since then
I've been president like three or four times, vice president
of a couple, two, three times newsletter editor board number
probably six times bottle washer.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
He was bottle washer this one. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
I'm not just saying this because you know you're in
the room, by far my favorite president.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Eureka, by far my favorite vice president. So okay, so Jeff,
tell us, how is the weather today in Hollywood? Well,
I tell you what, you know.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
The weather out of here is just it's getting to
be a little bit warm. It's about sixty degrees here
in Yeah, I think we're having a high of seventy
two maybe by the week here.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Hills are on fire. Yeah, damn a man. So you
guys can kind of see already how this kind of
goes whenever we get together. We haven't hunted together in
quite a while, ye.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Spot.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, you know what the last time was that we
hunted together. I think it was October of last year. Yeah,
when we did would be besides Rush to the Rockies,
of course, I mean skin, I didn't hunt we but you.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Know, well, I yeah, that was one of those ones
where I didn't. I wasn't really planning that on hunting,
but I did anyway, And yeah, I wore myself out.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
That was a good event. That was hot too, But
out there people are getting really weathered by the heat.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Yeah I was.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
I was moving from shade canopy to shade canopy that
whole weekend because it was It was a scorcher.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
But but then there you are out there, you know,
masters of metal getting second by one one stinking.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Point one point one one point.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
And it's something as simple as a stupid brass washer.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yeah, the washers got us kill. This no fault of
of Cindy's at all at all. That was a killeriar spot.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
There she was. She was showing that she was a
skilled detectress, and she dug.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Twenty twenty some targets without finding one that she wanted
and Ken and I, by I mean by pure luck,
dug one and found our are the designated like that
we had defined.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
So we were in that thirty field in a matter
of minutes.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Yeah, I was one of the judges, and I literally,
you know, they blew the whistle. I seen Tony ben down.
I was twenty thirty yards. Wait, I'll like, I got
a log a wire.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
You're kidding me?
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Go running over man, you know, say yes, go ahead
number two.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
I think that was you Ken, and he first sad.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Yeah I was. I didn't. Yeah, I didn't get a
judge that one because I was busy looking at field one.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
So yeah, right, Hey, Copper Joe's in the chat. Jeffy
says it good to see you in Colorado.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Yeah, Copper Joe, how are you doing? My friend? Gosh,
it was good to see him at Rush too.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
You see I got something from Copper. Do you got
something from Copper Joe over there to me? I do
uh detect SD Jason's also chest says, hey, Tony, he
joined us like a rush to the Rockies. Yeah, I'm
sucking here.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
I've got since Joe's here, uh and Ken can and
I both I gotta tell you so Joe shows up.
You know, we've we we saw Joe previous uh rush,
great supporter of the podcast, and everything comes over to us,
starts talking to us, and I think it was this
(07:26):
was at the end of the weekend. He came over
with with a little bag and he gave Ken and
I something pretty incredible.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I think it's pretty incredible.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
In fact, I got I got more choked up than
I really thought I ever would this this. I mean
I had to walk away for a second over to
the truck, but Can and I both got a picture
from Joe of the previous Rush to the Rockies. Yeah,
and it's got myself, Joe, Ken and Dwight it Yeah, cool, great,
(08:02):
he made this up for us, put him in a
frame and kind of brought it over to us and
out of the whole weekend like that. He was so
emotional for some reason, just having Joe there and meeting friends,
you know, across the country and sharing a weekend with
each other and then you know, years later coming back
together another Rush of the Rockies. Like it just really
(08:23):
it was an incredible weekend. And you know, I love
seeing Joe's wife there. I forgot forgive me. I've forgotten
her name, so I can't help you.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
You know, seeing Joe and you know, him coming over
and just it was fantastic. So I wanted to thank
Joe again.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
You know, we thanked him obviously in person, but I
wanted to show that out on life as well.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
So yeah, I mean, very very cool time. Yeah, Joe
and I were in there. Oh, we got to get
a picture, got to get picture, and next you know,
I have to dash off to go do some announcements
or run over to the mind lab, you know thing
to go do some judging. And it was just yeah,
it was just it was tough to try and get one,
but we finally managed to get a picture.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Good. So yeah, yeah, Joe also held the record for
most unique experience Tony and I have ever had on
a live stream broadcast before. Yes, we're broadcasting live from
Rush to the Rockies. Some people have heard the story.
Some people have it. I'm broadcasting live from Rush to
the Rockies out there at our table we have our
(09:26):
tent up or you know, and and all of a sudden,
on our live stream, just like a lot of you
are right now on the side in the chat group,
somebody pops on her live stream named Michelle, and she goes, hey,
where are you guys at in Colorado or in Kiowa?
Where are you guys at in Kiowa? And we're like, oh,
we're kind of you know, up up this hill. Are
(09:46):
you in Kiowa? And she goes, I have one of
your participants here and he can't find the he can't
find the event. He needs to nowhere how to get
to the event. And so no, no, no, literally, what field
are you in? What's what you're what's your address so
I can send him there? And so she didn't say
it was Joe. We didn't know who it was, and
(10:08):
uh yeah, So we told her and I was just
like tripping out that she was able to find us
on our live stream broadcast broadcast alive at that moment
to ask about a participant to come up. And then
later we find out it's Joe. Joe had stopped at
our realtor's office because he saw it was open, went
(10:28):
in and said, hey, we're here for this event. We
have nowhere. Note, we don't have any idea where to go.
Do you know where it's at? And then he was
probably mentioning us, And so I told her to get
on YouTube that we were broadcasting live or something so funny,
so funny, you're looking at each other going, what.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Going to a realtor is actually kind of brilliant, you know.
You know she probably knows a lot of people around there,
if not everybody, And yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
It was pretty smart. Yeah, it was very smart. Move Yep.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
We got Jason detect sd up there on the screen
right there, three of us.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Yep. Jason. I don't know if you've seen it, but
mind Lab has put out a few videos about yeah
time in Kyowa, and I think you're prominently featured on
both videos that I've seen so far, So thanks to you.
Go over there and check it out. Jason.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
It was, yeah, it was.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
We saw him on Facebook and Instagram, so check those out.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Yeah yeah, and literally just go to the mind Lab
Facebook page and look them up on Instagram if you
have it, and there's a couple really have nice videos there.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
So yeah, And Jason Rowe with Diggan has been uh
looking to get a hold of you over there in
South Dakota, so if you still have her contact info,
reach out. I know you've kind of been away for
a little while, but uh, yeah, welcome back to reality.
If you're back to reality.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yeah, yeah, he was gone gone like.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
You boys like Mexico.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
My friend Bill Hayes too. I see he's out there.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yeah Bill, Yeah, let's look and see who we have
in the chat there, Bill, Bill, Bill red Pants Bill.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah, it's good to see you. Bill. Thanks for popping on.
And you spent some time with Bill not too long ago,
did I did? I can tell you.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
And you know, we had him as a guest here
on the show and the stories that he has, Like
you guys, go back and watch the whole episode.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Of Bill Hayes.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
On on the Relics Radio and who that guy is
times ten is who he is in person, because he
is just an absolute riot. The history that the years
of stories and adventures and Relics and you know, and
quick as a quick as a whip too, man.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
And actually the two Bills together, that was. That was
quite the experience. Very very happy to spend some time
with those guys. And yeah, you know, very cool.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
It's one of those states I have not dug any yet,
is Ohio. So I got to get there.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
There's nothing there. I keep hearing there's nothing there, that's
what they keep telling me. No big loss.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Jeff it seems like everywhere I go they really school
running and hiding. So nice.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
I feel the same way, man. But hey, you know
what doesn't hide from Jeff Lubert? What's that? Rings? Rings
do not hide from Jeff Lubert.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Matter of fact, Jeff's joining us because rings don't hide
from him.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Luckily, Yeah, I had a ring search earlier today, and
and luckily I spent enough time behind my computer last
night that I didn't have to work all day today,
So went out and did a ring search and I
don't know, it probably took a half an hour to
find it, So I was I was fortunate enough because
there was a big lot with a house on it,
and it literally was hiding in the rocks. Trek to
(14:07):
the front yard and then you know, you get in
the big river rock, you know, the stuff that's this
big around Those have a firm mountain memoralization in them,
and you get them out of Colorado rivers. So yeah,
not the easiest thing to find, and it was hiding
in the rocks.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
No kidding, good congrats? What number ring is that in
your in your career? You know, off the top of
your head.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
I do not do you know?
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Dollar amount. You've got dollar rounds.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Yeah, yeah, I'm pushing the one point one million dollars
in returned items.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
So that's a lot of items returned. Yes, No, that's
only two rings. Yeah, No. One of them was worth
one million, the other one was worth a hundred thousand.
He's really only found three rings in his lifetime, and
one was a crackerjack ring that but the other two
were out of this world dealers. You had you had
a biggin right, you had a Yeah, you had a
(14:58):
one that was worth a chunk of money, right.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Yeah, it was. It was well into six figures, let's
put it that way. And it yeah, it had a
five carrot diamond. Five carrot diamond. We're taught, you know,
you get above two carrots and prices go up exponentially.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Five carrots about the size your fist.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Yeah, and it was a high grade five carrot. It
wasn't just a crappy one. It was severely clear and
great color. And then it had thirty other diamonds and
probably about three quarter ads.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Of gold, so very nice.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Yeah, that was that was a substantial hunk of ring.
And that was one of the ones where I searched
the yard for two hours and did not find it.
She came out as I was going into the house,
going you know, I searched the whole area, searched to
and from the house, both directions around the house in
case you went either way. Nothing. She's like, there was
(15:56):
a friend that was in the house that night. They've
seen the ring. And this is her exact word words,
the ring is so big and ostentatious that she took
note and can combent it on it.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Oh geez with one of her.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Friends that said that, wow, wow, the ring was in
the house somewhere, and they said they searched that they
ripped the house apart three times already. And I said, well,
you know what, I'm here now, and if you want
me to search the house, just another set of eyes.
But I go into it non emotional. Well as people
(16:26):
that lose the ring, they're usually emotional when they search,
and they jump over here and then they jump over
there instead of going through it piece by piece by piece.
And I ended up I went through her garbage in
her bathroom, her garbage in her bedroom, in her bed.
I mean I was literally like in between the sheets,
in between the pattresses in the in the pillow you know,
in her dresser, because she said she did laundry, and
(16:48):
I was, like, did laundry? So I literally pulled everything
out of her a dresser and literally piece by piece,
pulled it out, folded it all back up, put it
back in, ended up finding it in her clothes hamper.
They had a full spot them, oh kidding, And they
said that they've been in that close emper like five times,
all right.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
But I had a false bottom and it.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Had a false bottom that I pulled up and took
a look in there it was geez.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
So I got down under it somehow.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
Yeah. Yeah, it was one of those things where I
came walking up. It was like an hour and a
half later of me starting to search and and I
literally had it on my hand, you know, kind of
like I put it on my finger, kind of like that.
And I came up and I started scratching my chin
and turned around and said, oh, I know, you didn't
find it. She was crying, and I'm up there behind
(17:37):
her just rubbing around and sees it and she just
bursts out into tears. Promised to me the world.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
I've seen some good returns where they find it and
they put it on their finger and they're like, Okay,
where'd you find it over there?
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:53):
It was it over there.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Yeah. I use a lot of times I'll try and
let the owner come and pick it up for the
first time, unless they're not there. Even there's been times
when I've just you know, put the machine down and
walk over and say, hey, I need to come in
to look at something, and let them be the one
to pick it up.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Yeah. Yeah, that's awesome, that's cool.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
It's just something they try to do, and I've kind
of gotten that way over the years that I like
to do it that way.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Yeah. So who else we got in the chat Tony.
We kind of interrupted that and got sidetracked on that. Yeah,
let me jump back in here. Who was I looking for?
Speaker 2 (18:34):
I wanted to say, Bob Rose, Hello, Bonni is from Indiana?
Speaker 1 (18:39):
Right, who's your state? That's right? Who's your daddy? I
did that. Yeah, it's very tim Ildigger. Hello Tim.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
He had said, good evening, mister Kennon, good evening to
the rest of the dirty money lovers that'll be here soon.
He's always had a dirty money lover comment. Absolutely, let's
see who I'm missing here. Relic Jedi is joining us, tonight.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Hello warning that button, nice button, East Idaho Digger.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Yep, welcome on. Hey how about Nick from Thin Blue Diggers.
Spent some time digging with Nick a couple of weekends ago.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Sorry, very cool. Yeah, I was jealous when you were
digging with the Bills and Nick.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
I know I had everybody Ohio hunt history hon Her, Yeah, yeah,
I had, I had a I touched everybody there.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
That was great.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
I like to detect, not like that.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Uh like the dector is he's always touch you stay
away from that, dude.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Metal detecting and see, hello, here's one.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
What's that? Linda Ericsson?
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Linda eric Hey, Linda, that's.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
A come on, Linda.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
You know we were talking about how there's nothing left
and actually that's kind of funny. Nick says there's nothing
left in Ohio. Going back to what we're talking about,
detect us D says, yeah, the Bills cleaned it out,
and then Linda pipes In says, no, we found good
things in Ohio.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
It's say I'm the rattin them out high away. How
do you say, yeah, hey, I want to say hi
to Oops oops up Heavy Metal Digger Detectors, Kentucky. Good
to see it. Very cool. How about Rat relic round
and Round covering artifacts together? Am I aging myself?
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (20:37):
You are?
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Nobody listens to Rat? I do.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Hey, I remember when Rat and Poison were on tour together.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Yes, absolute, yep, eighty what sho? Probably eighty four three?
So I'll reminisce on that concert a little bit. I
was partying my butt off with a bunch of wild,
crazy guys and they played at this kind of this
(21:05):
place called Mantiica Water Slides and they kind of had
it was a big fair type thing, and they had
a bungeee tower and my friends guilted me into doing
bungee cord diving the day after a night of heavy party.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Oh geez, it does not sound like it's going to
end well.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
And that was at the Poison Rat. Who else was there?
Maybe docin concert?
Speaker 2 (21:35):
I know you're a metal head at heart, and they are.
I'm a master of europe A metal metal.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
I'm a master of metal.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Yeah. Well, so, did did everything stay down that needed
to stay down? I mean, if we're all kind of
hung over this is the day after it?
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Did it did for a little while. I did for
a little while. I made it through the through the
launch and made it through the you know, getting me
off the airbag. All that stuff didn't last much longer.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
I've only done that bungee stuff one time. That was
in Zealand.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Do you go off a bridge and stuff like ankles?
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Now it was over a canyon as the third highest
in the world seven feet.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Okay, there you go. You've done it once?
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Did it once?
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Okay, I've I've sky sky dove went. How about that
I went sky diving? Okay, I got done. I would
absolutely do it again.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Where did you.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
Do that at? Did you that here in Colorado or No?
Speaker 2 (22:51):
I went to Vegas. So my wife's fortieth birthday, I
took her to Vegas. I went to a couple of shows,
went to some high end like buffet type things, and
she wanted to go skydiving. So we booked it and
went and both of us the exact same feeling about it.
Would do it again. In fact, she went back. A
(23:13):
couple of years later. At my daughter's twenty first birthday,
took my daughter and a couple of her friends out
to Vegas and the four of them skid.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
I went skydiving without me.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Yeah, talk about the little bit of stress here in
Colorado on myself. I got my wife, my daughter, my
daughter in law, and my daughter's friend and they're all
on Vegas by themselves and going skydiving.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Wow, shot.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
I was like checking with me every thirty seconds. I
need a text. You went skydiving? Yeah? Did you go
Rocky Mountain climbing? I have yes? And I went three
point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Manchu. Did
you That was my next question. I knew you were
gonna ask me.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
That, Tim McGraw, real quick. I want to also mention
Brandon Townsend. Hello, good to see you man. Welcome Eureka.
Yeah from Eureka. So thanks for coming on, Brandon. I
thought there was a couple more people say Eureka, we
(24:20):
got a drink. Isn't that the new drinking game we
play here on Relatiradia?
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Holy wait, I wasn't told that one.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
I already drank what I had to drink. Ah, So
why why are we here? What are we? I was thinking,
why don't we talk about.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
This blurry picture?
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Is it blurry? It's getting there? We go another bottle
of whiskey? Is that what we're going to talk about? Yeah,
there's that down there. We're gonna we're gonna cover that.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Uph So who are these people?
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Well, we've got a lot a lot of people that
we realized there's a lot of people in the background that, uh,
make things happen in Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Yeah, this is we gotta we got a first and
I mean first and foremost. Let's just talk about the crew,
you guys people.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
I mean, you know, we've been doing a lot of
promotion to this and I can't I can't imagine there's
no one that doesn't know what we're talking about. But
you want to kind of put that into context.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Well, this is the the production crew and a few
I think there's what a landowner a former landowner there
as well, some archaeologists, two archaeologist or archaeologists and husband
and then I think all our arrest are probably production crew, right.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Yep, yep. We got got some kind of like on
site producer guys, some camera guys. Uh. This guy right here,
he was the bad carrier. He was the bad carrier
guy carried everyone's bags for them. The audio guy is
the audio guy. Usually the coolest guy. The coolest guy
of any crew is the audio guy. I tell you.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Yeah, but this is the production crew for Expedition Unknown.
It's a show that's on Discovery Channel. I believe it's
going into it's what fifteenth.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Year, amazing.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Yeah, so it's it's been around a while. I know
I've I've watched it from early early on. In this show,
I mean before there was other shows. I mean Josh
produces other shows, Expedition X and Wiles.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
He spun that off into note I mean, good for him, man.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
And you know, when you sit there and watch the show,
it's interesting to me that you know, you're thinking, here's Josh,
he's the he's the archaeologist running around the globe and
you know probably you know, just Joe mister fancy pants
and all that. No, this guy is out there working
his piny off and actually producing out there in the field.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
From our experience with the UK film crew we did
with Ramsey Studios, we thought, you know, he come pulling
up in a you know ex uh, you know, expedition
or suburban and get out and then put his shirt
on him and give him his hat, and he have
three people like putting makeup on him and dusting off
his hat and you know, giving him his call sheets
(27:26):
for the day. And not not only no, but hell no,
not not even close, not even.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Close to to what Josh his contribution participation in in
the entire process.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
You know, what did you think of that, Jeff, Yeah,
he did not just show up just to be on TV.
He was showing up to actually, you know, get get
shit done. And and and actually, you know, like I said,
he was a producer. I was. I was actually truly
surprised that he was actually like, are you guys come
over here from that angle when we found stuff? If
we found stuff and we wanted to record it, it's like,
(28:06):
all right, now, you guys, you you actually want from
over that angle, So go back over there so we
can re you know, reposition the cameras. Because once again,
this is production, Hollywood production. So yes, we did actually
truly find items. Nothing was planted. And then when they
came over to film it, it was, you know, went down. Yeah,
(28:27):
then it went then it went Hollywood. Oh, let's film
it from a different angle. Well, let's get the drone up,
let's through the drone, you know, and it's just there
was all that going on, and Josh was the one
that directed all of that complete direction.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Yeah, it was such a fine tuned, uh crew, as well,
And I want to give some credits to the crew.
You know, like you said, Josh was you know, calling
quarterbacking essentially everything, and he'd say, you know, so and so,
and I forgive me, I forgot the names of all
the crew out and he says, you know, are you
are you on the three?
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Are you okay? Are you over here? You you're on
the single?
Speaker 1 (29:03):
Okay? Are you getting from above? You know?
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Like like and the crew was kind of anticipating how
we wanted it, yes, but they were all working together
and it was it was so inspiring, I tell you.
I know, Ken and I talked right as we were leaving,
We're like, if we only had a production crew, do
you know what kind of videos we could produce for YouTube?
These guys were so phenomenal and we even we've spent
(29:27):
time at the end talking to them talking about, you know, okay,
for your idea for this type of shot, what do
you guys do? Oh we have this, this and this.
I'm like, yeah, we're shaking our heads. We're taking all
this information in because it was so incredible to see
how it was produced. And we're you know, and and
next week we're going to see how how the final
(29:49):
cut looks.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Yeah, that's one thing none of us.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Know, no idea, not a clue. We've never seen it.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
We filmed all day. I mean, it was a long day.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
We're all excited to see it, but we all may
be completely disgusted once week two.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
That's a chance you take. Man, with all this stuff,
you know what what the camera guys tell us, Because
Tony's right, we're talking to the camera guys. The main
camera guys are like, you know, we do this YouTube stuff.
And they were like yeah, they were all about it,
and they were just like shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot shoot,
shoot and shot too much better. You're putting on gloves, film,
(30:27):
you're walking, film the ground, film the sky, film, your
knee pads, feel this film that just film everything. Film
eight times as much as you think you're gonna need.
And I don't know about you, guys, but I just
watched the first episode out of season fifteen, the new
season that's out now, And when I watch it, I
watched it completely as like a creator to see when
(30:48):
they were using b roll, how they used b roll,
how they used audio and music, how they used narration,
and when they showed action and all that stuff. And
in my mind since I've been through this process now,
I'm thinking, Wow, much stuff didn't they show? How much
stuff didn't they added in? You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (31:05):
How much hit the you know the the old the
old phrase, how much you know hit the cutting room floor?
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Yeah, well, and that's because you sit there and look
at it. We actually had what three or four cameras
filming for It wasn't all day that they weren't filming
every swing that we did, but they were busy filming.
And you know, if there was let's just say we're
we're filming for eight hours, which I would probably filmed
for more. I don't remember exactly that, you know, when
(31:31):
the crew actually showed up and when we finished and
all that that was, it flew It seemed like it
flew by, you know, a minute. But when you start
looking at three or four different cameras and a drone
and you know they're filming, it's five minutes of a
crack or two minutes of a crack, but it's three
or four different cameras, so that's you know, three or four,
that's eight you know a lot of time in different
angles and who's who has a better angle. This one
(31:53):
has a little bit shadow that one doesn't. Okay, let's
go on that, you know, and then then dubbing in
your your audio and wow, I mean just I do.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
I do an introject real quick and and and you
did touch on them, but I wanted to kind of
add a little bit, uh and emphasize this.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
It's come to through my social.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Media here recently, how Hollywood Expedition Unknown is. And you
know you did say it before, and I want to
reiterate it. Nothing that the three of us were involved
in was planted, uh, you know, uh, plant beforehand type
(32:32):
of thing. All the all the fines that that we
found were absolute wild finds. Nothing was planted at all.
We did go through and kind of listen to what
we thought were good tones prior to so we could
get as much footage of of us digging as we could,
But we didn't plant.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
We didn't Uh, none of that stuff was ever done
with the three of us.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
Now we do know it. It is Hollywood, it is
a production, it is entertainment. But for our were involvement
one hundred percent, I can attest. I know the other
two would back me up. It was all live we were,
we were real people, we were real finds, and we
had a really good time. So I just I just
wanted to throw that out there just one more time
because my social media kind of had some of that
(33:16):
rumblings going on, you know, and I addressed it on
on there as well, but I wanted to make sure
that I put it out here as well.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
So for what we know of only our experience was
one hundred percent genuine. Absolutely it was.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
Yes, we're on an amazing property that we probably wouldn't
access to. We were looking for looking for uh things
that we could find some some things we we were
looking to find, and we would find those things. Like
it wasn't you know. All three of us were just
off and running quer in different directions most of the
(33:51):
time they were. And then when there would be a
hit the correct the camera crew would come running. Yeah.
And I remember one time and and Josh was out
there detecting right alongside of us. Yes, he was fantastic.
Him me out to the field. He grabbed his equinox
and he almost got out ahead of me. I was like, no,
I'm going to beat you out there. But him, I
(34:16):
hope that didn't hit the cutting room floor, No, Ken.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Do you want to uh, do you want to read
kind of the uh so, I guess talk about the
episodes coming out next Wednesday, July second, twenty five on
Discovery Channel. And as far as we know, a perfect
description of it hasn't been put out yet.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
But we Ken has scout and he's a sleuth.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
He found some information about the episode and do you
want to read that? So they kind of understand maybe
the gist of of what the episode is.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Yeah, and this kind of awesome. This also kind of
you know, gives us a little bit of hint on
how uh edit things are edited and how editing sometimes
changes up some things. But really really interested to see
how they edit what is going to be We really
don't know. But our episode it says Josh is traveling
to the Wild West, where Josh Gates will investigate the
(35:10):
mysteries of renowned hunter and showman Buffalo Bill Cody and
the conspiracy surrounding the location of his final resting place.
So that's how they're right now on some sites promoting
the episode. So investigating the mysteries of renowned hunter and
showman Buffalo Bill Cody and the conspiracy surrounding the location
(35:34):
of his final resting place. So that's how they're promoting it.
It's going to be interesting to see how they put
that out. I think, So what tonight, there's the second
episode happening tonight. Yes, the lions, the killer lions, right,
go to the Lions.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
To me, I'm interested to see what they're going to
do on that episode.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
I mean, yeah, what is that going to be? Yeah,
I mean it's all about the story surrounding ghosts in
the darkness, right, Matt Mann eating lions that killed as
many as one hundred and thirty five railroad workers in
eighteen ninety eight, So you can he's kind of investigating that.
And so you know, if you go watch that episode,
(36:17):
you know you'll hear what Jeff's talking about. Like, they
did a lot of filming. They probably went to that location.
They interviewed a lot of people about the stories they've
heard from way back then. You know, some pictures that
people have probably but how much can you do about that?
You know, it happened so long ago. But you'll see
how not the magic of Hollywood, but the magic of
(36:38):
this production company and this team will put together an
entertaining show that has been on for fifteen seasons, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
So and this one that they're doing tonight. You know,
I don't know that there's part of facts for them
to find. I know that, you know, over the history
of his show, that's been a big portion of the
show as they're finding stuff that relates to that subject,
whatever it might be that night. And maybe they're gonna,
you know, who knows what they're going to find during this,
(37:07):
but it's yeah, once again, you know, you got a
production crew and I don't know, did they take the
whole production crew of like twelve people over there.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
Did they release a bunch of lions and see, Yeah,
I mean you got to replicate it for Hollywood, you
gotta do it.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Obviously wasn't footage from the eighteen ninety eight Yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
Jordan Dust said, are we able to talk about subject
of the episode? Probably not anymore right now, Jordan than
what we just did, because it's out on public that
that's how they're describing the episode and a lot of
their promotion. So that's about all we can talk about.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
I mean, we did sign all of us, did sign
you know NDA's YEP, which is a non disclosure agreement,
which means We can't truly discuss this episode until it
does air, right, so, but we can get around yet it.
We can talk about the production crew and Josh and
and you know what we did and you know how
we that it was one hundred percent legitimate fights.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Yeah. The one thing I will say that I thought
was amazing is the Josh that you see on TV.
That was Josh.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Oh my gosh, pretend anything.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
That's one of the questions that I think a lot
of people have asked, you know, on social media as
we've been putting that out, was you know, how is
Josh you know, they all want to know how is
he in real.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Life and on TV?
Speaker 1 (38:30):
This is this picture right here? Kind of some to me.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
I see it as as that kind of summing up
how it was so a relic was found and to
be accurate and uh, you know, in the production of
the show, we jumped on our phones real quick to
try to identify.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Yeah, and not.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Of course, and you know, the the the producers is
is over here. You know, Jeff is looking at that one. Uh,
Ken's looking at his phone. Josh is on his phone
as well.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
He's not texting, it's not surfing Facebook always not all
compared what he found and yeah, and then then the
phones would go in and he'd be like, all right,
let's let's start up with this blah blah blah, straight
back into directing, you know.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
And and and his excitement for findes was real.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Oh my gosh. Yeah, I mean yeah, you know.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
You see it on TV. And yes, that excitement was real.
I mean, before the cameras get there, people are like
running over. It's like, oh, look at that, you know.
It's like, yeah, and he was as excited as you were.
Or I was a finding stuff and yeah, I was about.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Ten feet from him and he found an item and
I was I was after my own items. You know,
we're all just doing it. It's not like anything was
really set up. Camera crew was kind of finding following
him at the moment because he was doing some stuff.
But he found an item and he's like what and
he goes, oh my gosh, and he said something about
the item. It caught my attention. I looked over at me.
(40:09):
He looked over at me, just like you and your
buddies went out detecting. Yeah, he's like big person. Looked
on his face like and then he goes, ken, come here, look,
you know what I mean, Like, is that what I
think it is? Am I seeing that correctly? And I'd
be like, oh my gosh, you know, like it was
just like you're out with your buddies getting excited over
something cool that was found.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
You know, yeah, yeah, And you know the place where
we were at, there was you know, it's an historic location,
there was historic items found, and believe it or not,
there actually was things like poll tabs also found. We
didn't we didn't put those on a film.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
But actually we don't know what the edit's going to show.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
We don't.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
But here's the thing that Jeff's just talking about, like
so many cameramen, so many different stuff going on. And
he said they weren't filming the entire time, and he's right,
but in the times that they weren't being directed to
film by Josh, they'd be out catching you b roll
and should you know, footages of the sage brush or
whatever it was. And one time one of the cameramen
(41:12):
was near me and I was digging a target and
it was a piece of crap like a wah wah
wall and I thought that, and I thought maybe they
need some of that, So I go, hey, Joe. I said,
I go, hey, do you want to get ah wanh
wanh wah moment, you know what I mean? And he's like,
he comes over, he goes, Okay, he goes, show me
(41:33):
what you got and I kind of I still had
it in my hand. It was down low, but I
kind of looked up and I kind of went wanh
wanh wah, and he zoomed in on it. And who
knows if they're going to use stuff like yeah, but
you know, they filmed it all as much as they
could and we'll just have to wait and see, you
know what that comes out. I think we all had.
(41:55):
We all had pretty good exposure to We all three
had some good finds.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
That we're worthy of making worthy of episode.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Yeah, absolutely absolutely agree with that.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
Heavy Metal Detectors in Kentucky has kind of a write
up about the show. Josh and investigates wild Bill's homestead
and scraps around to find.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
That is exactly what it's about. It's called Expedition Unknown
Grandma's Breast Brooch Edition, Yeah, wild Bill's Grandma's Broach.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
They also had another question real quick, two quick questions,
what did you find and did they feed you good food?
Speaker 1 (42:42):
I think it's a great question, great, great, great, great,
great question. I think we can answer maybe one of those.
One of those, well I could. I could answer number one.
What did I find? Found a great time, met some
great landowners? Uh, he may, we'll talk about that a
little further. Yeah, and found a new appreciation for uh,
(43:08):
this Hollywood celebrity. That was nothing what I thought he
would be, especially after our experience with the UK film crew. Absolutely,
let's say, yeah, I would second that. And so how
about the food, Jeff tell us about the food.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
Hey, they brought us some fantastic sandwiches and and you know,
drinks and was chips as well, and we all sat
around and chewed the fat with the landowner and they
took us in the house and showed us around. And
that was amazing. That was a great lunch. I mean,
they were really good sandwiches. So if you're.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
Talking kind of like off the cuff, you know, I
mean I think it was a local a local sandwich shop.
I mean they came around to each person said hey,
here's a menu, what do you guys want to order?
Ordered it for us, went down to the shop, had
it made special for you, came in in a bag
with your name on it. And the thing that I
want to I want to kind of like, you know, talk,
(44:05):
we're talking about, like Josh being in general. Josh got
a sandwich in a bag with us, you know, comes
in a box right, pulling the sandwiches out.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Everybody grabs their sandwiches. Like you said, we're.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
Sitting on the on the front porch in rocking chairs
around the picnic table. Josh Gates is sitting there, the
landowners are sitting there, production crew sitting with us, camera
guys next to you, you know, uh, and we're, like
you said, chewing the fat, shooting the ship, just talking
about life, talking about history, talking about passion.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
Yeah, Josh noticed Jeff necklace and was asking him about it.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
Was you talk about how things are away from the camera,
and and that is the memory that that sticks with me,
being away from when the cameras are off. Jo, I'm
sitting next to Josh in a rocking chair and we're
just talking about whatever in the world was the topic
at that moment. It was incredible.
Speaker 3 (44:58):
That's great. I mean, it seems like nothing more than
just a bunch of friends sitting around and.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
And honestly, I mean that's the three of us. That's
that's that's what makes our hobby so awesome. We love
digging with each other. We love you know, giving each
other the business when you find something, but so excited
and and happy when when another one finds an incredible relic. Yeah,
and that's how it was, like he fits just right in.
And and I will say also, you know, Kenneth touched
(45:25):
on it. He didn't pull up in a suburban with
the driver and his own you know, uh, powdering his nose.
He shows up in his own truck, driving his own truck,
pulls into the driveway, wait, window down, waving at us
with the big old smile, pulls up like just hops out.
He's just he's one of the guys. He's he's he's
a you know, loves history, loves relics. It's all about
(45:49):
the quest for the find, I mean, and then you see.
Speaker 3 (45:53):
And the story behind the find, and you know it's
not just about you know this great, amazing, you know,
extremely valuable. Fine, No, it's the little things and the
story behind how that got here and why is that here?
And you know things like that. I mean, he was
truly interested in that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
So yeah, I loved it. Yeah, you see's question he said,
can you talk about what happens to the findes? Mm hmm, yes,
uh yeah, I think I think we could.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
Yeah, we do.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
Can't really talk about what we found, but what happened
to Yeah.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
Yeah, once again, we didn't keep anything. You know, this
is one of those ones where you know, I believe
everything went back to the landowner, if I remember.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
Land owner kept it absolutely.
Speaker 3 (46:36):
Yeah, And you know this is which.
Speaker 2 (46:39):
To which you know, the landowners and I wanted to
absolutely speak about the landowners in a you know, Ken
said we're gonna do to it later.
Speaker 1 (46:48):
Incredible people.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
There wasn't a person on in the area that put
me off at all. The landowners were hospitable, accommodating, social
like all about all about the history. And in fact,
they knew probably more about the history of their land
(47:11):
than than I mean, obviously I didn't know it. And
so you know, Jeff Tell can tell he maybe a
little bit about the house ish because they took us
inside the house and showed us the house.
Speaker 1 (47:21):
They renovated the house, and it was an.
Speaker 3 (47:24):
Older house from the late eighteen hundreds. You know, obviously
wooden framed a great porch on.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
It great porch.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
Yeah, and it was it was. It wasn't a hugely
fancy house by any means. It was a decent house
back in the day. And it's a it's a beautifully
restored house now. I mean to look at that house,
I was like, you know, this is this is beautiful
and the interiors and yeah, it was. It was a
pretty special place, I thought.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
And do you remember Ken, do you remember the uh,
the light that she had on the end table.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
Yes, she had this light on the end table. It
was it was clear, and it was completely filled with
square nails of the building that was there, the original building. Now,
there was a lot of the original building that was
still there and they've completely like refurbished it, but they
kind of tried to reuse as much as the original
materials as they could. And when they couldn't use the
(48:22):
materials like all these square nails, they did stuff like that,
like they put him this huge glass globe of this
table lamp giant really kind of you know, sixteen inches
by sixteen inches or something like that. It was just
filled chock full of killer square nails, you know. And
she was showing us some of the original wallpaper that
was there originally. That was how they kind of put
(48:45):
that into the house and melded that into their design
and stuff.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
It was really really cool. Yeah, and the story came
from one of the original I don't want to say
original corners, but the gentleman used to live at this property.
I don't know if he contacted them, you know, the
production company and said, hey, here's the story, and you
know you guys, can you know, like to have you
come out and investigate this. And then they talked with
(49:12):
the existing landowner and it just all kind of came
together and hearing the stories from this the gentleman that
grew up, you know, in his his youth at this
house and you know, he spent all this time looking
for you know, items in the yard. But he always
wanted to, you know, do the metal detecting part and
do the searching part. He never had the opportunity back
(49:34):
in his day. Yeah, that was kind of cool.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
It was. The landowners to were awesome. It was so
fun and and really kind of moved me how excited
they were. They were so excited to have this going
on on their property. They were so excited to meet
every single person that was up there. They were just
(50:00):
I didn't even explain it. Like they were just smiles
the entire time, very inviting, very welcoming. Come over here,
sit down, have your let eat your lunch over here. Here, move, move, honey,
get over you know what I mean. Like they were
just they were just like so cool. He was telling
us about like, oh, you had that big bell hanging
on the top of that one barn. He was telling
me all about the bell. We heard all about their
(50:20):
life story, like what he did for a living coming
up and you know for most of us, he's retired now,
but really, really really cool. I can still see their smiles.
You showed it in that group that group photo. In
between filming, they come along, they'd walk around, they'd come
up and patch your back. Yeah, how are you doing?
(50:41):
You need some water? How you guys? Okay? Like right, yeah.
So they were amazing. So the landowners to the right
of Josh Gates, tall man with the blue shirt, and
his wife is right in front of Tony. I think
her name was jan and his name was Phil mm
(51:03):
I forget u. But yeah, they were they were amazing.
And you see those smiles. Those smiles weren't just for
the camera. That was the smiles they had all day long.
They were just walking around checking on making sure everybody
was cool and having fun. And even when we left,
when we left right they were just like, please come back, please,
please come back. Oh my gosh. Even if you if
(51:24):
you guys are up here with your wives and just
gonna come in the area, come on, come on by.
We'll have a barbecue, we'll cook some burgers, we'll you know,
hang out like you guys are welcome to come back
by here and do some more detecting and all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
It was just very incredible people all the way around.
Speaker 1 (51:43):
Positive experience.
Speaker 3 (51:44):
Absolutely. And I see that lurker tray that Troy has
a question. How many properies did y'all search? We actually
had two of them lined up to go search, but
we were finding enough stuff on that one property and
we stayed there all.
Speaker 1 (51:58):
Day, stayed there a yah yeah.
Speaker 2 (52:02):
And that just really shows to the quality of detectorists
that these two guys are. And I just kind of
like wrote on their coattails. No, you know, Ken and
I we've told some stories working with archaeologists and things
like that, and people are amazed at the amount of
targets that we're all able to uncover in such a
(52:22):
short period of time that relate to you know, what
they're looking for. And you know, it happened again, you know,
this past October when we were up there, you know,
doing this, it was really really cool. There wasn't lack
of targets, there wasn't lack of fines.
Speaker 1 (52:39):
For sure. There was definitely enough to make an episode.
So we'll see what actually does make the episode though.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
Yeah, because once again, like I said, you know, we
have no idea how it's getting edited. Yeah, you have
no idea. Oh, Tony, you have three minutes on the show.
Oh Ken you have five minutes. Jeff, you have thirty
three seconds. You know, we don't know that, so find
out the same time everyone else does.
Speaker 1 (53:07):
Not appropriate, totally appropriate. I love that relic Jedi. I
just love it perfect well.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
I will say that I had both you know, Dais
two and the manticor up there with me.
Speaker 1 (53:18):
So you did yep, And I will say, uh, I remember,
you know, we can't release a lot about the episode,
but tonight we're kind of talking about behind the scenes
and stuff, and I remember Josh because we're talking about
him just being one of the one of the guys,
you know what I mean. He looked over and he said, hey, Tony,
He goes, how do you like that manicore? Right, because
(53:38):
how do you like that manicre? I've been hearing a
lot about it, man blah blah blah. He's thinking about
maybe getting one or something, and you were kind of
chatting with him about that. Yeah, again, just down to earth.
He knew, he knew what he was doing.
Speaker 2 (53:50):
You know, he probably doesn't have as you know, as
much time that we get to go out and enjoy
the hobby because it's more of a work thing for him.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
But but it wasn't like he was struggling. You that
he had an equinoxic camera.
Speaker 2 (54:02):
I think it was the eight hundred that he had, Yes,
so you know that's that's not an ether machine to know.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
And he was not struggling. I'll just say that, not
struggling at all.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
I believe the archaeologist and her husband they had a
ctx thirty thirty and they struggled a little bit, but
you know, they they were getting the job done. And yes,
we did have a local archaeologist there. It wasn't just
Josh being the archaeologist, because he is one, but we
actually had you know, an archaeologist there on site as well.
Speaker 1 (54:33):
Yeah, yeah, have you metal detectives? Kentucky said, so did
you go at and looking for high tones or dig everything? Mentality? Now,
be careful, gentlemen, as I think he's being a little
bit of a sneaky snake here trying to find out
exactly what we were looking for. Huh, I'm teasing. I'm teasing. Now,
what was our mentality? Guys going into that what we
(54:57):
were looking for.
Speaker 2 (54:58):
We knew the premise of what age we're looking for, right,
so you know, in terms of you know, as a detectorist,
I don't think it's it's difficult to say you're listening
for high tones because we know that's gonna be silver
or something, you know, a nice precious metal and old coiling,
those kind of different things, of course.
Speaker 1 (55:15):
But you know, out here in.
Speaker 2 (55:16):
Colorado, for the age that we were looking for, generally
it's mid tones. You're gonna find bullets and buttons.
Speaker 1 (55:24):
Lead, brass. You know that that was kind of the.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
The the high point of metals during that period.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
Not the same.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
I mean, you're digging, pretty much, digging everything that has
a good target, a good sound to it. You know,
we're definitely not cherry picking.
Speaker 3 (55:42):
But they also want us to dig the iron though, too.
I mean they wanted us to dig. They want us
to dig some of the iron and you know, the
square nails it tells a story as well.
Speaker 1 (55:53):
Yeah, absolutely, So, yeah, we were digging everything, yep, pretty much,
uh yeah, junk everything, we were digging at all. So
it was well.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
And and the finds that we did find, you know,
we had said that that each of us definitely had
fines that would be worthy enough.
Speaker 1 (56:11):
To be on you know, an episode.
Speaker 2 (56:12):
For sure. They varied as well. You know, we each
found something different that really uh you know, kind of
fit the time period we're looking for. And I don't
want to get in too much details, but you know
what we're looking for, and it was it wasn't feast
or famine. We not, not for lack of targets. We
all dug a lot. We did well.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
And it was a long day. I mean we we
were I mean we were swinging you know, all day literally.
Speaker 1 (56:41):
So it was yeah.
Speaker 2 (56:43):
Well, they they did put us up in a hotel,
so and Ken and I, oh yeah, that's right. You
got up there late that night. The night before. We
all chose to have the hotel the night before, so
you know, I'm sure it Ever, everybody else in the
chat would do the same thing. You want to get
out to the site as early as you can and
(57:04):
get out there and start swinging as quickly as possible.
So we chose the go ahead.
Speaker 3 (57:08):
We also got to that site just to look around
to see what we were getting ourselves into.
Speaker 1 (57:13):
No idea. I never been there, yep. And it was beautiful.
We were in the mountains. We can stay. We were
in the mountains, and it was October yep, so at
about Colorado up in October in the mountains.
Speaker 3 (57:29):
Absolutely, yes, Tony and I were, you know, in of
some of the animals around there.
Speaker 1 (57:38):
They were very noisy, Yes, they were.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
They were very vocal.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
It was beautiful, man, we got this. Uh let's say, hi,
do how do you pronounce step stephan Oh, Stephanie Uh? Okay,
step Stephanie, stephan Mason. The Northern Lights, Yes, uh, it
was beautiful, beautiful to night.
Speaker 3 (58:00):
For the Yes, Stephanie loves the Northern Lights and it's
in our our plan to go see them sometime. And
they're actually in uh in a heavy phase that night
and so she actually came up to there and we
went out looking for northern lights and we actually got
some photos.
Speaker 1 (58:19):
Good. Yeah, I oh, we sight to talk about this
a little bit, so I don't have any no, but
we do. Yeah, yeah, what's the story? Bottle of whiskey?
It's coming, believe me, it's coming. So Jeff, why don't
(58:42):
you go ahead? Because it actually all came through you,
So why don't you tell you a story? Yeah? How
did this all come about?
Speaker 3 (58:49):
Well? From remember right, I was standing in an airport
and I don't remember if I was on my way
back from England or where I was on the way
back from. I get a phone call. Don't recognize the number,
so I let it go to voicemail, thinking, you know,
it's probably just a you know, a spam call. Yeah,
(59:10):
I mean we all get them a few times a
day anymore. And sure enough, the I listened to the
message because they did leave a message, and I was like, okay,
well then this maybe not spam. I don't know. Started
listening to it and one of the first things I
hear is you know, producer for Expedition unknown. I was like,
oh wait, wait wait, and I literally had to go
leave where I was at in the airport, because it
(59:31):
was no easy and go find you know, a quiet
area in the airport. People listen to this, and so
he was like, you know this is a remember it
fits right from Unknown. Yeah, And he's like, you know,
wanting to do an episode out there in Colorado, and
you know, wanted to know if I could be of
(59:53):
assistance to help with the episode, and you know, and
you know, I was like, Okay, this is exciting. I
didn't know what to think. I mean, I have done
an episode of Forensic Files back in like two thousand
and it was eleven or so, so I have done
one major series as well, but still it means expedition
(01:00:14):
of known. It's Josh Gates.
Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
It's like Josh Gates.
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
But is this a scam? So I was also still
worried about is this a scam someone wanting to get
my name and phone number and all that stuff, or
you know, get information on me, because people do that, right,
So you know, I go in and listen to the
message and I was like, wow, is this real. I'm
a little nervous. I don't know what to think. And
(01:00:41):
so I called the number back and sure enough, it's
fits and he's like, you know, hey, you know this
is you know, I forget what his actual true name,
but we just call him fits right, And he's like, yeah,
I'm with Expedition Unknown. We want to film an episode.
You know, I want to know if you could help.
I was like, it was like a week and a
half away or something like that. From number right. It
was it is literally like, we need someone. We need
(01:01:02):
someone to like, you know, Wednesday, Thursday maybe. And I
was like, oh, well, I have this thing called work
that I have to do, you know. And they're like, well,
you know, we really appreciate, appreciate. Oh did I lose
you guys?
Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
No, no, we're there. You're there.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
Yeah, I bumped my computer and my screens went away,
so you also went away.
Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
We can see there.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
But anyway, so here I am and in the middle
of the airport trying to figure out life. So I
call up Stephanie. Yes, Stephanie is my girlfriend, and and
uh and you know, just bounce some ideas off her
and she's like, oh wow, this is exciting and yeah
yeah yeah, And next thing, you know, she's like, hey,
what Tonian Ken. You know, they they could really help
you out, you know, and I was like, oh, well okay,
(01:01:50):
and I was like, all right, so start texting you
know you guys. And I was like, you know, once again,
I'm still not.
Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
Sure if this is real yet, right, you want to
come get scammed with me, guys, we'll get scammed together.
You only have to send him five hundred bucks by
tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
But I remember originally it was scheduled for like think Wednesday, Thursday.
Next thing, you know, it's like, well, it's Thursday Friday.
And then I was like, well, let's just do it
on Friday, and so things kind of changed all within
a week. I mean it was like a week yep. Yeah,
I mean because I think I was coming back on
a Sunday, and then we were supposed to be filming
not that coming Friday, but the following Friday. Yeah, it
(01:02:30):
was very short, uh timeframe. And it was like okay,
so you know, I call it neil Ken, and TONI
is like, hey, let's let's see if we can get this.
This works, and.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
Yeah, so we owe it to Stephanie. We definitely said
we're going to buy our bottle whiskey because she's the
one that kind of suggested Tony and I and uh,
without without Jeff, you know, thinking of us and thinking
of us, we be great. I appreciate it was definitely
a great experience that we'll we'll think back on fondly
(01:03:04):
for many many years. It was just a great experience though, guys, right,
it just was a great experience.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
I mean, yeah, I mean and really to be with
you know, two really good true friends out there doing
this was made it, you know, pretty darn special. And
it's just one of those things that you know, it
just the timing of it came together and I don't
know exactly how the stars aligned, but it was. It
(01:03:32):
was perfect to be you know, asked to be part
of this and then to share that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
Yeah, it was. It was great, man, because you know,
it would have been different, right, like if there was
two of us and then somebody we didn't know, or
even one of us, or all three people that didn't
know each other, you know what I mean. I think
it would have been really, uh been really uh you know, different,
a different experience.
Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
Yeah, it wouldn't have been the same if it was
just you know, you, Tony and two at random guys
or you know, Ken or you know, and just you know,
one random guy or whatever, you know. I was like,
because I was nervous about that at first too. They're like, yeah,
do they want me? And you know, they got two
other guys I don't know, or four other guys or
twelve other guys or you know, no one else. I
didn't know all. I didn't have a lot of details
(01:04:17):
at first. You know. It kind of came through the
week next week where it's like, oh, well, we're gonna
do it on Wednesday, Thursday. Oh, we're gonna do it
on Thursday. Friday. Oh, we're gonna do it on Friday.
Oh we're gonna you know, we need you know, three
of you guys for sure. Oh if you only two
of you can make it, that'd be great. But you know,
we'd love to have all three of you. Oh you
know it's because so yeah, I mean we all three
(01:04:40):
have real jobs.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
Yeah. Yeah, unfortunately, and then so we do work stupid
cutting into my RK. The work days are cutting into
my days off. I tell you what, I'm don have
to talk to the manager about this crap.
Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
Yeah. So, I mean it was one of those things
where yeah, we end up taking some time off work.
I do it again.
Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
Yeah, we skipped a treasure Hunter's meeting. We all got
hot water for that one. That's all right. It was
worth it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:09):
Yeah, because I was president at the time, right.
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
You were, and you were like integral to the meetings,
and you all of a sudden were like, uh, we
got something to do. Because we couldn't really release what
it was back then.
Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
No, I mean, they have something to do.
Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
It's kind of once once in a lifetime type chance.
Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
And that was truly what it was, is like we
couldn't lead on. But you know, I'm president, ken you were.
Speaker 1 (01:05:29):
I think I was producing. I think it was producing
somebody who as our speaker that night.
Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
Yeah, and so it was. It was a little hairy,
but you know, it's all of those things where I
felt bad about, you know, missing the meeting and not
being secretive, but we knew we had to do it.
We knew we're gonna be signing DNA's YEA and NDAs
I guess and treatments.
Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
And you know it hasn't come in the chat yet,
but compensation, I'm sure people want to know that in
terms of opportunities and situations like that.
Speaker 1 (01:06:05):
So I got twenty three hundred, How much did you
guys get? I paid off my house.
Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
You kidding, ice Cream Cone.
Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
No, We're we're good enough that that. They said, we
cannot compensate you, would you still be one to do it?
We all did it. And then after the fact again
kind of kind of talking about what kind of people
they are, what kind of production it is. They made
a donation to our Treasure Hunters Club.
Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
Uh, actually did that. I don't recall if they did
or not.
Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
They did, they did, We got we got an email
from the landowner or I got an email from landowner
asking for contact info. And I can't remember who who
all was involved, but they needed contact info, who to
make check out to, where to send it, all that stuff.
So they made a contribution to our Treasure Hunters Club. Okay,
that was very nice of them, very cool of them
(01:07:04):
to do that, and I think it definitely helps it.
Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
All three of us are members of that club.
Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
So yeah, but that's what I mean. We were talking
about all three of us being friends and stuff, and
it's like we all, you know, knew each other's integrity,
and yes we're sitting around just chatting about stuff. We've
all hunted together enough that and we know each other
so well that we trust we know that we trust
each other, we know the ins and outs were able
(01:07:31):
to get together and talk about what was going on
that day, you know what I mean. And if it
was like you know, like when Tony and I did
the UK Show, like they did a lot of campy
stuff right where they're like, Okay, well when we ask
you if we need to be blindfolded to go to
your guys special spot, we want you to say yes,
and then we're gonna film you guys leading all these
(01:07:54):
celebrities out in these blindfolds. And it was like, Okay,
I mean, all right, that's what you want to do.
But there was there's really nothing campy like that being
produced or being directed to. I think the only bit
of direction it was it was basically like like something
like Ken, what did you just say? Yeah? Say that again?
(01:08:17):
Hold on, Joe coming job, get this up shot blah
blah blah. Oh okay, I say it just like you
just said it, you know what I mean. I was
and it was a focus on that specific emotion that
and they could use it for the show to create
an emotional period of time, you know what I mean. Yeah,
So yeah, stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
Yeah, And and sometimes we filled in things three, four, five,
six times. And that's that's part of production.
Speaker 1 (01:08:44):
Right, Remember the intro, So we can't talk too much
about it, but you remember the intro were all stating
there were, yeah, how many times do we film that?
That one did not go over well in Josh's mind.
We had to make sure we got that just right.
He's like, okay, now, let's let's try to get except
this time. And you guys look too stiff over here.
Just relax man, just like you're hanging out.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
On this word.
Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
Yeah. Yes, And it was just one of the first
shots we did in front of the cameras, so we
were all kind of like, yeah. He was just like, hey,
loosen up, man, just like you're hanging out.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
I wanted to to show another another pick here, guys,
behind the scenes.
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
We've been sharing a lot of those lately. You don't
think people are sick of him. I know this was
one of the finds and and Ken Ken had his
loop with him, and you know, chet, I'm asking Josh
if my head is sunburnt, and he's just shaking his head.
It's like, oh my god, dude, told you to put
(01:09:50):
sunscreen on. No, I'm sorry. I interfered. Go ahead, No, no, no,
it's it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
How many times do we do this in normal active
vities of a hobby like this is what we do. Right,
You find something that you know, you want to figure
out a date, you know, uh stones, if it's jewelry,
you know, we want to get in there tight on
something and we pull out the loop and you're looking
at it right in the field.
Speaker 1 (01:10:15):
That is exactly what happened when we were out there.
Speaker 3 (01:10:19):
Yeah. I mean, once again, none of these items were planted.
These are all natural finds. One. You know, we don't
know what we're going to find. We have no idea
what it is we're going to dig up. So it
is what it is, it is.
Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
I gotta I gotta mute mess off for a second.
Yeall s something up with my wife?
Speaker 2 (01:10:39):
Yeah, okay, right, he didn't see five mile relic hunter.
Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
It's one of those things where you know, this is
truly live hunting. We don't know what it is. We
don't know, you know, it's era at this point in time.
We need to do some investigation. We all need to
look at it. You need to have an idea, you know,
let's let's get after it and and figure out what
it is, and that's you know the phone. Yeah, the
phones come out. Oh you know, phones.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
Come out, a friend, yep, phones come out, loops come out,
gets passed from hand to hand.
Speaker 1 (01:11:13):
You know, can you identify it? Would you see this
number here? You know, what does this look like?
Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
You know, it's just like detecting with all of our
other buddies, you know, out in the middle of Colorado.
It's the same exact things that we do every weekend.
There was nothing different, you know, well except the large
crew following us around, which.
Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
I would love to have myself. Oh my gosh, yeah,
one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
That that was really My videos would be incredible if
I could get somebody to follow me around with a camera.
Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
Or or cameras in a drone. You already have the drone. Yeah,
but yeah, that's one of those things where we literally, yeah,
we were, we were doing real detecting. We just happen
to have a few people over our shoulders going what'd
you find this thing?
Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
What is that?
Speaker 3 (01:11:58):
You know? And once again oh another so you know
popcam that got hit by the lawnmower or yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:12:06):
Oh gosh there everywhere.
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
It legitimately was one hundred real with and I would
throw a twist on it. It may maybe what am
I saying here, you know, looked at from different angles.
Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
I guess I don't. I guess I'm not explaining it
very well. It was.
Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
It was one hundred percent real though, you know what
we were finding, what our reactions were, you know, one
hundred percent real.
Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
So yeah, and I wanted to Ohio Rella.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
Hunter has a great question. Bill says, are you going
to have a watch party when the episode airs?
Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
Yes, as a matter of fact, we are.
Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
Yeah, And I mean Bill said he was going to
have it at his house and we all got to
be there an hour before.
Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
Are you going to smoke a bunch of stuff? We're coming?
Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
Yeah, yeah, then we're gonna go out. He's got us
in a secret spot with a new permission.
Speaker 1 (01:13:06):
Right yeah, yeah, yeah, I think they caught Yeah, the
Civil War what do they call it, the Civil War
plate Foundation? I think they call it something like that.
That's nice. I like it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
Yeah, Actually, so yeah, we are planning on having a
watch party. So actually there was two things We've one
we forgot to mention the beginning of the show. We're
gonna be on quarter Hoarders. Can we gotta we gotta
talk about next week real quick. So the episode, the
episode airs next Wednesday on Discovery what is it, seven
(01:13:39):
pm Mountain, nine pm Eastern. Uh, check your check, your
cable will do whatever. So if you're on like Hulu Live,
you can stream it. If you can get it on
Discovery plus maybe streaming the next day. There's a bunch
of places you can stream at the day after. I
(01:13:59):
think Filo you can watch it live.
Speaker 1 (01:14:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
And what that means though, is we're not going to
have a Relicks radio episode that evening. So no show
next week on Wednesday because the episode airs next Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
So we forgot to mention that. But in addition to that, huh,
two things yeah, two things, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
Because quarter Holders show on Thursday, right yep, to review
the show after it airs so we can talk about
things better.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
Yes, quarter Holder Live on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
Yeah, only on Facebook thro.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
Umber right right, Nope, it's on YouTube as well.
Speaker 3 (01:14:43):
On YouTube as well.
Speaker 1 (01:14:44):
Okay, he's on YouTube, Yeah, okay, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
I didn't know if the live went it to YouTube as.
Speaker 1 (01:14:48):
Well, so no, he's on both.
Speaker 2 (01:14:49):
So Quarterhorder Live on Thursday, July third, three of us
will be on there, being able to talk about. After
the episode airs, we can probably discuss a little bit
more about, uh you know, what we saw, what.
Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
Got maybe got cut out? Yeah, you know, probably most importantly,
well I got cut out because I got pictures and
videos here I want to show everybody, and uh so
we'll see if it's out there or if we have
to bring it out to the to the innerwebs. Yeah,
they're going to be like, Ken, was that your back
of your head that I saw in that one shot
(01:15:21):
as the camera was swimming by real quick, that one
right there? Oh my gosh, it was looking a little
red right there. Yeah, gosh, is like what dude.
Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
We're also going to be on Relick ground up though
on Monday as well, pretty much doing what we're doing here,
but maybe we'll we have a little bit different stories, but.
Speaker 1 (01:15:47):
Yep, we do yep, yep time Monday at at.
Speaker 3 (01:15:53):
Seven o'clock Mountain times on nine o'clock Eastern yep. And
that's over on YouTube benefit book as well.
Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
So by the end of next week, you guys are
going to be completely sick of us a lot of
our faces with our mouths.
Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
You know, No, I mean, honestly, it was a fantastic experience.
We want to share it out as much as we can,
only because well we have the platform, we have the microphones,
and to be honest, you know, I think a lot
of people take our opinions, you know, to heart, you know,
about different situations. There's no reason for us to you know,
put out things that aren't factual in the metal techting community.
(01:16:34):
And I think we've answered a lot of detailed questions
as much as we can, you know, but really stress, gosh, man,
Josh is a really cool guy. I mean, if you
come away just knowing that, Wow, well here's something not
everyone knows either.
Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
Is we came this close close? Close?
Speaker 3 (01:16:59):
Yes, close, that's pretty close.
Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
I get we came that close, that's all I wanted
to say. That close, maybe that close to having Josh
Gates on with us here on Relics Radio podcast. We're
still working. We're working on it. We're working on it.
We're working.
Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
We almost had him for tonight, are we almost? We
tried to have him for tonight and uh, it's still
it was considered. It absolutely was considered. Things just don't
work out with schedules, as you know, but he's a
busy guy.
Speaker 1 (01:17:34):
The invitation is still open. It could be fulfilled here
in the future. That's true. That's right, that'd be cool,
you know.
Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
Especially after the episode airs where we cannot really talk
about the damn thing, you know, not be so cryptic
about everything, that would be even better.
Speaker 1 (01:17:52):
He does a lot of work with metal detectors. Man
like Troy McCormick, right, he a friend of ours on Facebook.
Key he did it, he did an episode with him.
I know we have some other friends of ours out
there in the metal teching community that are probably going
to be on episode five for ours maybe are the
two five? I think it's two after ours five, So
(01:18:16):
that'll be fun. It was kind of out of North
Carolina area that that'll be fun. And uh yeah, kind
of looking back at the other episodes. He does a
lot of work with metal detecting and metal local metal detectors.
Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
So and I think that's it. As they try to
find a local detectorists there that you know, that don't
have to travel for a long time to get to
a location. You know, they don't want someone from the
East coast coming here to the mountains in Colorado, and
maybe they don't know how to run their machine in
the mountains, you know, so it's one of those local
(01:18:49):
experts and they found some here.
Speaker 1 (01:18:54):
Yeah, I found they found at least two, They found
two to at least two experts here. They were wondering
what was going on with that ball experts and Ken
with this Loop hashtag Ken with this Loop is what
they found. A Hold on a minute, I gotta do
it because you did it? About that? Uh, talk about
(01:19:22):
the two things I wanted to bring up real quick
before we're out here. One wasn't it cool kind of
getting up and having breakfast and all of a sudden
realizing because we hadn't met it, got about that surrounded
by the whole crew and they kind of look at us,
and we look at them and we're like, well, guys,
you know me? Are you are you? Are you?
Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
I am fit fits, I know you know what I mean?
That was kind of cool having breakfast all in the
same room and then realizing that they were all part
of the crew and stuff. Very cool.
Speaker 3 (01:19:50):
That was pretty darn cool.
Speaker 1 (01:19:52):
And and I had forgot about that. Yeah, and then
what the next question? Uh, I've had a couple of
experiences so far. Anybody in your outside life's business anything
like that, find out that you got this coming up
somehow and kind of bring it up and you're like, wow,
(01:20:12):
how'd you hear about that? Anything like that. I had
a couple of experiences not for me, and I know
you've told me the stories. I think you know. Yeah,
one because of this and two because of the Netflix
thing I appeared on. But oh yeah. I had this
corporate guy, safety guy that I don't hardly ever talk
to you really, I don't need to. And he's kind
of a bigger, higher up guy and we have a
(01:20:33):
local safety guy and that's what we deal with, and
I need something special from him. So I called him
and hey man, this is you know Ken blah blah
blah from Northern Colorado. He's talking to me, yeah, go
the time, and I asked him what's going on? He goes, hey,
wait before we get into that. He says, he goes,
were you on Netflix? And I took a step back
and I go, what are you talking? I said, I
(01:20:57):
was watching Netflix with my wife when we were watching
that forest Fence, and I could have swore you were
on it. I kept rewinding it. I was telling my
wife that's Ken King from Northern Colorado. And so we
talked about it. And then we started talking about forest fence,
So that was kind of cool that he had saw that.
Just I mean, I'm on there for a hair of
a split second. And then just recently a real close
(01:21:20):
co worker of mine. I don't share stuff with my
personal life with my coworkers. I really just don't you
know what I mean, Like, we're working professionals and my
outside they all know I'm metal detect. I mean it's
bled over now a number of times. But we go
into a meeting, me and this guy I work with
and another guy. We're talking about a job that's coming up,
and the same thing. He goes, wait, wait time out
(01:21:41):
first before we even get started, he goes, how can
you tell me you're going to be on TV? And
I go, so we're not connected on Facebook, right, And
I was like, what do you I don't understand what
you're talking about. What do you mean? He's like, You're
gonna be on TV on that expedition unknown? And I go,
how did you hear about that? And the other guy
we're in the meeting with is looking at me like
(01:22:04):
what I watched that show all the time. So this
guy that asked me that, I'm like, how did you,
and then I remind Then then it hit me my
wife and his wife are connected on Facebook. My wife
had put something out on her Facebook page saying, Hey,
Ken's going to be on TV blah blah blah, and
so then I had to like, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like, well,
(01:22:24):
why didn't you tell everybody at the company. I'm like,
that's not the way. I don't do that, you know
what I mean, I don't do that. And it's been
it's been funny having instances like that. I had the
president of my company tell me that one time that
he went into this board meeting of our huge upper corporation,
(01:22:47):
and the IT department from our corporation, who's in Lancaster, Pennsylvania,
came into this meeting to present something new that they
were going to develop, and they somehow came around that
one of them watches Adventures in Dirt videos and so
all of a sudden, the entire meeting became talking about
(01:23:08):
Ken in Colorado and this Adventures in Dirt YouTube channel,
and he said, and so the president calls me, he goes,
so we didn't get to the meeting for fifteen minutes.
He's like, we're all have busy schedules and we couldn't
even start the meeting until we spent fifteen minutes talking
about adventures in dirt and I just don't share that
stuff with my coworkers. But oh my god, that was
(01:23:28):
that was just it was hilarious. Man, I was cracking up.
Speaker 3 (01:23:31):
Yeah, I did share with my coworkers that were doing
you know, the expeditions unknown And yeah, we're doing watch
party where I work.
Speaker 2 (01:23:41):
Yep, So we're all gonna be there, well hopefully all
of us will be there and we'll be watching it
all together and.
Speaker 3 (01:23:49):
They together on what we Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be
so it goes from seven to eight mountain.
Speaker 1 (01:23:57):
What's the over under on us getting out of there?
About out ten thirty? Because I talked.
Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
About everything, right, I mean, we're gonna talk about that's
this scene or what they said, how they presented this
and where they went to them, what.
Speaker 1 (01:24:10):
Didn't make like, what's gonna make it. It's gonna be crazy,
It's gonna be a good time.
Speaker 3 (01:24:16):
Yeah, hopefully I'll have a nice fresh bottle of scotch
or whiskey, be a couple of beers there.
Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
So I have a quick story too. Ken was talking
about being recognized or you know. I was working graveyards
on patrol and we got a new lieutenant and uh,
it's like two o'clock in the morning. Lieutenant calls me
my cell He says, hey, Tony, where are you at
(01:24:44):
right now? So I told him, I said, meet me
at this this parking lot and so he I pull
in the parking lot.
Speaker 1 (01:24:49):
He shows up, He.
Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
Gets out and he's standing and he's looking at me,
kind of looks me up and down.
Speaker 1 (01:24:54):
He goes, are you fifty two eighty on YouTube? Said yeah,
I do that.
Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
He goes, oh my gosh, there's no way I watched.
I just totally Binge watched all of your videos during COVID,
and he was like, he lived, he used to live
in Washington, and all of a sudden he's watching the
Washington moves to Colorad, becomes lieutenant and now I'm working
for this guy. And he's like, I thought it was you,
but I didn't know for sure. And so yeah, it
(01:25:23):
wasn't about Expedition unknown, but just being kind of recognized.
Speaker 1 (01:25:26):
Yeah, that's always tripping.
Speaker 4 (01:25:28):
So anyways, any issues like that, No, come on, Jeff,
people are like, are you the that's found one point
one million dollars worth the rings out there.
Speaker 1 (01:25:38):
That's right, Jeff is the most well known ring finder
out there. And if for those of you who don't know,
ring finders is a network of metal detectors that go
out and look for lost rings and other pieces of
jewelty and metal.
Speaker 3 (01:25:51):
Yeah, let me say, I've returned keys of cell phones,
ear rings, pendent, you know, you name it, if it
can be found. I probably looked for it for some
things that couldn't be found. M hmm haven't been found.
Speaker 1 (01:26:08):
So well, we're getting close to the end.
Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
I want to throw this picture of one more time
and just kind of kind of round up everything together here.
I mean, h what an experience overall, not only to
just be a part of the situation, but but all
these people, like every single one of them was absolutely incredible.
(01:26:34):
Probably spent you know a little bit of time touch
touched with each one of them in a limited capacity,
but definitely had an incredible, incredible experience overall with that.
Speaker 1 (01:26:47):
So five Mile Relic Hunter said, did y'all get any swag? Yeah,
at the end, we did.
Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
I think I think we should wait till Thursday, Okay,
all right, because I'm interested to see if that makes
the cut.
Speaker 1 (01:27:06):
Oh yeah, true, true, true, yep. So you have to
tune in. Tune in Wednesday to the show nine pm
Eastern on Discovery Channel or Thursday night on the quarter
After and quarter Hoarder's Channel, where we'll be able to
talk a lot more about it, show more pictures and
talk about either how cool the edit was or how
(01:27:27):
not cool the it was.
Speaker 3 (01:27:29):
We don't know, we don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:27:33):
Well cool man, guys, thanks a lot for coming on.
And it was really fun kind of experiencing that with
you guys. And that picture tells it all right there.
We were just on we were on cloud nine. Man.
We're just having such a good time in a beautiful
place at a killer permission with amazing people that just
were so open and friendly. I mean, I know, I
really appreciated it, and I know we keep talking about it,
(01:27:56):
but because of the experience we had was so different
with the u K crew. Wasn't that it was bad,
not at all. It was different, very very very different,
different type of production. So it was just so cool
having a completely different experience that we enjoyed I think
much more, I think in that type of environment.
Speaker 3 (01:28:18):
Yeah, and the weather was perfect for us. Too, by
the way, in case you couldn't tell by that amazing
sunset that was going on.
Speaker 1 (01:28:24):
Yeah, it was awesome. All right, final words, guys, you're
gonna do final words and then we'll get on out
of here. Sure, Jeff, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:28:33):

(01:28:55):
you know what, I'm glad you guys were there with
me and I really had a ball.
Speaker 1 (01:28:59):
Yeah, there's a lot of thanks for thinking of his buddy.
Speaker 3 (01:29:02):
Yep, not a problem problem And yeah, I will say
just in the closing one. Yeah, Stephanie did correct me
that we were actually on our way back from guest
and when that came right, yeah, perfect, Yes, once again,

Speaker 1 (01:29:24):
Good job, Stephanie. Keep him on his toes, keep him
in line. All right, Thanks, we'll see you in a minute.
We'll put you down in the green room. Okay, go ahead, Tony.
Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
Yep, I want to just kind of second Jeff as well.
Incredible experience, but couldn't have couldn't have done it with
a better bunch of guys.
Speaker 1 (01:29:41):
Really had a great time.
Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
I think it drew us a lot closer to in
terms of friendships, which is what kind of this community
is about.
Speaker 1 (01:29:48):
For sure. Brooks are great.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
Experiences are great, friendships are fantastic and they last forever.
So you know, three great guys right here, and UH
love the community and absolutely can't thank Jeff enough for
including me.
Speaker 1 (01:30:03):
So thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (01:30:05):

us gushing over each other and what a great time
it was, I mean, that's just it. We just had
a great time, man. So I hope to see some
of you over there. I hope to hear some of
the reports back on what you thought of the show
after you watch it on Discovery Channel or streaming on

check out the chat. You can find that information. And
I just want to remind all of you out there
