Stage 10 of the 2025 Tour de France brought fireworks to the Massif Central on France’s national holiday.

Simon Yates launched a daring solo attack to claim victory atop the Puy de Sancy, while Ireland’s Ben Healy powered through the breakaway to snatch the yellow jersey from Tadej Pogačar.

With eight categorized climbs and nearly 4,450m of elevation gain, it was a brutal test of grit and strategy. We break down the GC shake-up, the tactical masterclass from EF Education-EasyPost, and what this means heading into the rest day.

Plus, reflections on the symbolism of a new maillot jaune on Bastille Day.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
What a dramatic day in the mountain. Stage ten was
today a day befitting off Bastiel day and it was
the early breakaway that got away. There was some big
hitters into the early breakaway. There was Ben Healy, there
was Simon Yates, there was Victor campan Arts from Vismal,
Lisa Bike, Quincimmon's from Little Trek, and it seemed as

(00:22):
though the Palaton were happy to let those go. I
think early on, I think it might have been that
Taddy Pagatcha and r Way Team Emeriates were happy to
maybe let one of these riders take the yellow jersey
because there was certainly some riders in there that were
capable of doing that. Now for the main Palaton, Vismo

(00:44):
Lisa Bike really put them under pressure, putting some big
turns on the front to try and break down that
Emirates squad and in particular to try and crack Taddy Pagatcha.
But it was the breakaway that was to start. So
Ben Healy, who was a winner earlier on in the

(01:06):
in the race, he put on a massive turn on
the front because even if he wasn't going to win
the race, there was certainly a chance that he could
be in yellow at the end of the day, so
he put on a massive turn about thirty five kilometers
on the front of the breakaway to really stretch them
out and get them ahead, and they built up a
good lead over the peloton of about five or so minutes,

(01:29):
so we kind of knew it was going to be
one of these guys that was going to actually win
the race. And then Simon Yates he attacked off the
front with Timo Aaronsman from Inios. He went with him,
but Simon Yates was looking absolutely fantastic and he raced
away and he ended up taking the stage win for Vismar.

(01:52):
Lisa Baik and Aaronsman came in second, which is a
great win for Inos. They've not really done anything at
all on this or so to get a second that
was a brilliant win for them. And in third came
Ben Heally, who must have been absolutely whacked because he'd
put given it is all out there. So there was

(02:14):
a bit of a nervous way for the rest of
the peloton to come in and it was again the
Vismar were trying to break a pergatcha turn after turn
on the front, but in the end, Pagatcha just decided
to take it up himself and he kicked off the
front and it was the know It's Vinger guard who

(02:37):
went with him yet again just stuck on his wheel
all the way up. Now a Vinger guard across the
line ahead of that group. However, it was not enough
to keep the yellow jersey, and I think that he
was absolutely actually happy to relinquish the yellow jersey. And
it was indeed Ben Heey of e F who got

(02:59):
the yellow jersey for the day, which you know was
amazing for him and for the team EF Education. So
they're having a really really good tour. So the result
in the end then was Simon Yates from Vismar came
in first Timo Aaronsman came in second team inios and

(03:20):
Ben Healey came in third for EF Education, so that
put in Ben Heally into the yellow jersey. Jonathan Milan
came out in green again without any change because there
wasn't really many spring points on offer today, so he
stuck with green, and Ben Healey also took the white

(03:42):
as the best youngest rider and the polka dot jersey.
Bit of a curveball this one. Lenny Martinez from borrowing victorious.
He took the polka dot jersey. So that was it.
That was Stage ten. It was a great stage in
the mountains and it's kind of did the appetite for
up and coming stages. Now, there is no stage tomorrow

(04:06):
because it is the rest day, so watch out for
the Rest Day Reflections, which is going to be my
bonus podcasters for the rest day. So just a little
bit of more information about the tour and some of
the quirks and the traditions of the Tour de France life. Okay, folks,
thanks for listening to this roundup. I shall catch you

(04:28):
again tomorrow. Bye for now.
