Speaker 1 (00:17):
Welcome to RV talk Radio. Here we talk about RV living,
RV lifestyles, and RV travel. We also celebrate the RV
lifestyle that gives us the chance to do outdoor activities
that we couldn't do in a normal lifestyle. So thanks
for joining us. Grab yourself a cup of coffee, a
cup of tea, and let's talk about RV's before we

(00:42):
get started, Please hit the subscribe button and hit the
bell icon to see our future videos. This video is
made possible by a Ranger Rob Poopy bags available in
Amazon right now. Hello everyone, and welcome to Ranger Range
of V Talk Radio. And yes we are kind of

(01:03):
sponsored by Range Rob booby begs, but you can't get
them on Amazon anymore. So somebody, one of these days,
I'm gonna actually make them available where you can buy
them online. But we still have Range of rob Poopy Bags.
I just I just don't want to sell them the
Amazon anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
So.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Anyway, so getting back to the subject, we finally went
on an RV trip and Debbie and John Sternberg are
on the show with me because we haven't done an
RV talk radio in about three years, so it's about
time we did went in and so we were kind
of waiting until we actually had some subjects to talk about.

(01:41):
And we just got back from an RV trip from Praneville,
Oregon Reservoir State Park, right correct. So anyway, so I
want to welcome to you to the show. You guys
actually never been on the RV talk radio and I
know a lot of people are always sending me a

(02:01):
little notes going when are you going to do another show?
And I guess this is the day, so we finally did,
so welcome to the show.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Now I found out you guys are in your living
room just relaxing in front of the television, probably watching
you know, some good show like CNN. So we're gonna
be really nice and try not to talk about politics.
But I think I'm the worst one at it. It's

(02:32):
kind of hard. Every time I turn on YouTube, I
keep hearing about all kinds of weird stuff. I think
it's getting crazier. So I think it's finally getting time
to go rving because I can't stand reality. I agree,
So you guys, just to kind of review what you
guys have. You guys have been in rving for quite

(02:53):
a while, and so can you kind of brief me
on what kind of RVs you've had in the past.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Or you're bouncing in and out? What's that you were
bouncing in and out? Sound like you were in a
coffee can.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Oh, well, I bought this microphone and sale kmart.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
The one that was closed down two.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Years that one. Yeah, So can you guys review with us?
What what kind of are you these you've been dealing
with in the last couple of years.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Uh, let's see air bus within the bagos Wow, uh
Arctic Fox, Arctic fox.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
And uh Forest River. I can't remember what it was. Oh?
Uh oh something wolf? Something wolf?

Speaker 1 (03:55):
So have they all been trailers? Are they? I think
one was the motor homes?

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Right, we had three motor homes. Wow, two r vs?

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Gee, I know it's like since uh, these guys do
a lot of camping uh with their r V and
the last two years me and Sherry have not been
able to join you guys because of circumstances. So finally
kind of finally came to a point where we were
able to get well, get out of the out of

(04:30):
the property and we're happy to do that. So uh,
I think after stroke it wasn't too long. I was
able to get mobile and then then Sherry had to
go break your leg.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Kind of.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
What's that.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
It's been a very rough year for you guys.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Yeah, so we deserve to play a lot. So what
got us motivated to do the RV talk radio is,
first of all, we just got off of camping because
you guys know, we all have a fifth wheel of
a Montana thirty six twenty five r and we bought
our our fifth wheel in twenty thirteen, so we've got

(05:14):
we went a lot of places with ours and if
you look at our channel and go back in history,
you'll see a lot of RV videos. And uh so
finally we thought, well we're starting to and I was
driving more and I thought, and then we decided, let's
start getting the RV ready to go on the road.
And it turns out we had, you know, after so

(05:36):
much time sitting on the property, we had decided to
do the bearings, do new brakes, but reseal the roof.
It hasn't been leaking, but just in case, we did
it anyway. Uh So we had our jacks some jack's
replace because they're just leaking and just kind of little
things like that. But it costs a little bit, but

(05:58):
it was worth it. And I want to tell you
right now, twenty thirteen Montana fifth wheel is far better
than the ones I'm hearing about and about Harving today,
and some of the problems like the grand design and
all those guys are having problems with So, yeah, they're
having a lot, not just them, but some of the

(06:19):
other ones too. But I tell you, I feel like
I've been very fortunate to have one hell of a
nice fifth wheel.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Yeah, they were better made back then.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Yeah, so you guys have been pretty happy with yours.
You've had pretty good success, haven't you with this one?

Speaker 3 (06:35):
But the one before that was the awful whoop brand
new and we had nothing but problems.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Really, what kind of problems one another? What kind of
problems were you having?

Speaker 3 (06:52):
The solar wasn't working, the slide out. We put in
a them to fix the slight out because when they
built it you could see the staples. Yeah, we never
did get that part, even though I warranty, we never
did get it. The backup camera wouldn't work, the brakes

(07:18):
wouldn't work.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
The system went out and I had to go get
that uh coil or whatever. Yeah, it's a little fuse ling,
just one.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Thing after another. I think we had it what a year?

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, and we traded it in and then we also
found out it had absolutely no ventilation. Wow, I mean
it was. It was bad from the word go and
the Arctic Fox and even without the air conditioners, you
got plenty of ventilation, lots of windows.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Yeah. I noticed when you had your last rv H
it didn't seem like you had it very long. But
I know the one you got now, I've heard only
good things about.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
It, so yeah, I love it.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
How long is the one that you have now?

Speaker 2 (08:09):
It's a twenty five foot with the tongue it's twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
And the potrayer not a no, not like yours.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Fifth will mine's a mind's a beast.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Yes, yes it is.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
And the only reason I guess I will talk about
now is like the only reason I'm kind of held
onto the fifth wheel as one as we we financed
it quite long. Most people do on fifth wheels, and so,
uh just caused us a hold on to it longer.
But it's been working good for us. Why we bought

(08:49):
this place and kind of started doing some homesteading. We've
used it for you know, having guests and family here
all the time. But I tell you one thing is
you've got to keep an RV active and moving every
once in a while. Otherwise we have some of the
problems that be and sure he had so anyway, But

(09:09):
I'll tell you one thing. Anything that we've discovered that
we needed to replace. We did have to do our
hot water heater. And it wasn't the hot water heater,
but the the heating element in it and the and
the car of the I want to say card, but
the electronics that we're in it had to be replaced too.

(09:30):
And once we replace those two things, it's working great,
So very happy. It's like the RV itself is really good.
It's really most of the time most of the things
that support an RV needed to be looked at or replaced,
like you know, refrigerators or microwaves or stuff like that,

(09:51):
which is not necessarily the RV manufacturers issues. Really so
very happy with our machine. So and yours. When we
were camping with you last weekend, your rigs seemed to
be working really good.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah. Well, the big thing is is ours is actually
in the family. They call us the chuck Wagon.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Why is that?

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Because she cooks up a storm.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Yeah, and she did. I mean, like the first night,
you guys made homemade clam chowder which was amazingly delicious.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
And that helps out on the move day.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Oh yeah. And then the next day we got together
and we had hamburgers and hot dogs, and I think
we had so much food. We were eating hamburg You.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Go traveling, you always have too much food.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Yeah, always, so, I know. So what we were just
to kind of go back to what we did last
week is we did go to Praneville, Oregon Reservoir State
Park and we wanted to have kind of a go

(11:18):
out and see how my systems were working after we
get the RV back. And so we had a couple
of catastrophes on the trip, not bad and actually most
of it was very workable. But one of them was
really bad. Was we broke the steps steps.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Yeah, So our RV has the fold up steps in
the front, so we have four steps in the front
and when they fall down. We've had those for twelve years,
but basically we got to thinking about it's like we
never really pull those in when we store it. We
leave them out, so it's always getting exposed to weather.

(12:00):
So anyway, luckily that the whole trip. Towards the end
of the trip, I stepped on it, and excuse me,
the whole side broke, so one side, which I don't
know what you'd call it, attachment up towards the top
of the stairs. So yeah, the bracket just totally broke.

(12:22):
So it really made it quite interesting to get into
our RV the last day. But it did hold up.
And we have done some research and I think we
can order what we want and it's going to cost
I'm thinking that the one that I really like is
probably going to end up costing us about five hundred

(12:44):
and fifty dollars. But it's better than buying an RV.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Right or taking it to the dealership and having them
put it in for you.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Yeah, cause if I get the thing shipped here and
I just try to sweet talk John and coming over
that day, it looks like it would be fairly easy
to install. This is going to make sure I order
and get the right one, because I understand that if
you get the one and the brackets don't line up right,

(13:13):
it could be a pain. So I gotta I'm making
sure I get the right one.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Yeah, we'll work it out.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Yeah, otherwise we're gonna have to teach John how the weld.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
So I think we will fix that. The other thing
that I think you've got stressed out metal all through
that staircase.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Anyway, Oh, I'm sure of it.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
If one side, it's going to be the other.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Yeah. And I've got the fold out kind of the
new The new RVs have those big fold out stairs
now that hit the ground, they reach the ground, and.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Alpha Wolf had those and we didn't like them.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Actually, oh yeah, it folded up inside the door.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Yeah, I don't have that. They're horrible.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Yeah, it didn't look good. So the other thing that
happened on the trip is the first night we got
in there and we went to turn on the heater
and it was cooler up there because it was up
in the reservoir. We found out our heater thermostat wasn't
working correctly, and it didn't even register that the furnace

(14:27):
was even hooked up anyway. We had to kind of
dink around with it for about an hour and we
found a way to go through the programs that we
could actually get it to come on, and then we
turned on the heat and it worked just fine. So
we don't have any issues with the heat itself, but
the thermostat was acting up anyway. Just to kind of

(14:50):
go a little further with that story, after we got
home and we found out there's a reset button. I
think it's a dom electric or what do they call dominic?
Do you remember the name of that thermostat? No, anyway,
that that's the one we have. Anyway, there is a

(15:10):
way to get the reset, and so I went out
there and tried it, and it did reset and it
started working, so I avoided having to fix that problem.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
And uh so, leveling jack.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Leveling jacks because I replaced for the jacks on the
fifth wheel. When we told hit the button to say
automatically level, it doesn't quite know where automatic level is.
So we have to kind of get in there and
tell yeah, we got to reprogramming to tell it, like

(15:50):
I got it leveled right now. I just got to
figure out which button to push to tell the jacks
that this is what level looks like. And uh so,
but while we're camping, it was kind of a pain.
So we ended up having to level the RV by ourselves,
which wasn't hard. We just got once we realized that
we're just not going to get the auto level to work.

(16:13):
We worked it out. So camping taught us a lot
of things. So it was a good thing to have
a good camping trip like we did last week. And otherwise,
I tell you, Prianville Reservoir is gorgeous place. It's a
nice campground and.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
They opened up fires.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
Oh I know, and I haven't been around, you know,
and with our listeners I kind of talk to them too.
Is have you noticed that most of the time, I
mean we are VI full time, not once but twice
in our lifetime, and most of the time we've never
been to any place that had fireplaces that we could

(16:53):
seem like every time we were out out and about,
either no fires or it was a burning band and
so uh. Anyway, it was really pleasant to actually go
r ving and actually be able to sit around the
campfire and it was really nice and thank god John
brought all the wood drink. Yes, you did really good.

(17:19):
So how can I reword that? So sure? So uh
was really quite shocking on the trip, As Debbie says,
I learned how to make bloody Mary's and it's like,

(17:39):
oh wow, I haven't never had one of those in
a long time. I'm thinking, you know, with all the
little things you could put them in, you know, a
little snacks and yeah, and Pepperoni's and stuff like that. Anyway,
so she goes, but I got this new additive that
I especially ordered from a friend of mine in Oregon
City or something, and uh, anyway, she pulls it out

(18:01):
and I was kind of worried about it because the can,
you know, it had a burning flame on it. It
was if you touch the can it was actually hot too.
I was thinking, oh my god, this what did you do?
You've got to try this with a bloody marry super good.

(18:23):
So we said, well, yeah, we like hot stuff. Anyway,
So she puts these drinks together with this stuff that
that should have been it's another version of fireball anyway,
and h we uh found out that it was a
good thing that we have RVs that have bathrooms in them,

(18:44):
because after that we definitely.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
So anyway, we took a drink of the stuff and
uh uh I wasn't able to sit down for hours. Yeah.
I think that was the day of my thermostat went out,
but think of it was definitely warm, very warm. H.

(19:20):
I definitely had a different description for it when we
were camping, but since we're since we're in the show here,
I was being nice, but I think I did on
that trip go through two or three pairs of underwear.
But that's all I can say. But yeah, it was
super good Bloody mar It was hot. It was definitely hot.

(19:42):
So what was that additive that you put into those
Bloody Mary's.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
I didn't put anything in there.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Oh well, you must have put a live.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Match, that's how they came.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
No, it was not.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
Yeah, what was that that you put in the Bloody Marry?
So everybody can be careful not to drink too much of.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
It, I didn't do.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
It's astoria Bloody Mary's what it's called.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Wow, So it was potent. It was actually really good,
but you can't drink it fast. But it was I
liked it. But it was hot. I just normally I
don't get that kind of hot stuff from you guys,
because you know, John's a little more tapered than we are. Anyway,
it was pretty. It was differently kind O got our kind. Yeah,

(20:41):
I think I finally recovered from it, let's put it
that way. So, uh, over the years with your r
V or doing r ving, what were some of the
biggest problems that you were having with your r vs
in the past.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
I say the air bus was the airbus. The brake system, Yeah,
that that thing was.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Oh my god, it was big. It was heavy.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
It was like driving a greyhound bus.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
It really was. It even felt like a ray round
bus and not the smooth ones. They could not fix
the brakes on the thing and keep locking up on us.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
How big a rig was it.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
That John got stuck in Luna? Uh?

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Yeah, Luna, New Mexico, trying to get up to get
her and then the thing just seized and would not
go forward or back.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Wow? How big was The.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Town of Luna has nothing in it, not even a store. Nothing.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Well, the thing is it was leaking fluid, and so
we took it into an RV shop. They fixed it,
so they said.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
And they also replaced them.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
He didn't even get an hour down the road.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
And the brakes locked up again.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
And at that time I was blocking a freeway and
they called the police, were out there everything, directing traffic
around me because I couldn't even move out of the
center lane. It was just dead.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
So they came and towed it back to the shop
and then worked on it for another day and all
this time I'm trying to get up to her. Well,
they said they had fixed it and I could just
take it away. So I got what one hundred miles
from from where I picked it up from to Luna

(22:58):
and it would not go any farther. And it was
already like pretty close to midnight when I got there,
and I was just I was stuck. So I told him, look,
I'll make you a deal.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
No, he took it back.

Speaker 5 (23:13):
They took it back to the shop and fixed it
the second time, and then he took off again an
hour down the road.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
There he is.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
And then I made him a deal. They could have
the r V.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
Give me a U.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Haul that I could drive to Portland. And that's what
I did here on the ranch. Yeah, here on the ranch.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
So we gave it to him. It was it was
just nicholaing diamonds to death. And we spent what maybe
five on that.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
I was gonna ask you, did you guys get your
rig winter this year?

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Yeah, the day we pulled back from farm though, yeah,
so did we next day, next day.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
It was it was kind of depressing, is like we
go through the camping trip, get you get all situated
and make it through the whole weekend. And the first
thing I did was winter is it for the year?

Speaker 3 (24:16):
Ye? So, but yeah, it was pretting cold outside, so
you had to get it done because around here it's
fall starts, winter begins. There's no in between.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
I know this. I don't think there was a fall.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Huh. You know she had it on her phone today
that we were supposed to get snow in three hours.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
It popped up on my phone this morning and then
I looked at the weather app and there is no
snow in site.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Hey Jack's here, Hey Jack, Jack the different it's a
different show. But this is RVY Talk Radio and we
would love to have you guys. Jack. Have you guys
ever had an r V or I know you got
a beautiful full will drive. Let's see what he has

(25:10):
to say. But you guys, Jack's from California, did.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Quarters and pennies? Don't forget those pennies? Ye?

Speaker 1 (25:22):
No, no RV. He's smart then, So yeah, we got
our got winter rized the same day you guys did yours,
I think, And so we're all set. So I guess
let's sit there and just look at my RV for
Oh yeah, you're from Castro Valley, is that right? California? Anyway,

(25:50):
So we get to stare at our r V for
about a couple of months and probably maybe February March,
probably more right March, if only only April, okay April,
but we got some plans to try trade some trips.

(26:11):
I think I'm trying to talk to these guys and
go into Anna Chordis, which would be kind of fun.
And ah, what's s f O mean for East Bay
San Francisco?

Speaker 2 (26:28):
East Bay San Francisco.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
You can tell we're old people were like this, bring
that out, Jack. So in the future, I want to
talk about are you guys pretty happy with the RB
you have now? Or you think.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
About things perfect you're done matter what weather we've been in,
because we've been in snowing this one and everything.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
And it's high you're up off the ground and regular trailers.
Yeah yeah, no, it's not going nowhere and it's.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Got nice insulation everything in it.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Yeah, we're the same way. I think we're considering what
we spent on r V and stuff. It's like we've
been really happy with it, so it was worth it
to put some extra money into it and get it
kind of fixed up again, only because it's just been
sitting there and it really needed it, and so we
don't we have no regrets, and I really have no

(27:31):
interest in trying to replace it because of course we
were kind of underwater. But we're over time. We kind
of have you know, we're going to have it paid
off pretty soon, but the start over or by another one,
we just end up with the same problem. So I
think we'll just kind of live with it.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
Yeah, we got a year left on ours, I think,
so something like that.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Yeah, back back in our day, I mean, financing was
pretty cheap, and uh, we spread it out over several
years so it wouldn't be too costly because we bought
a new truck at the same time. Well, you know,
the truck's paid off, so h and really I think
we have a year or two on the RV and

(28:18):
it's paid off, so it's like, let's keep it going
and keep it in good shape and we'll keep using it.
So and then make sure my keep my truck right
in and sure my wife Sherry's home so if you
hear the dogs barking, they're happy to see her. So anyway,
so you guys are going to stick without our V.
I think we're going to stick with ours. So uh

(28:40):
uh now that we're kind of get out and about,
and we found out that we did learn that I
had my gain adjusted too high when We're coming off
the mountain on the trip and I was smoking a
little bit. They can scared you. And uh because when
I got my breaks back, my brakes weren't as sensitive

(29:02):
as they were before, so I had to turn the
gain up. But I was only guessing at the time.
But I didn't notice it so much going up to
the trip, but I was coming back down the mountain,
it was like, ah, boy, I think I put a
little bit too much pressure on those breaks and because
of it will smoke a little so but I didn't
burn them up or anything.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
So if that's the hot, oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
They were hot. They were definitely hot. So anyway, probably April,
we're all going to see what we can do with
O r VS. So it seems like so far away,
but that's how it is in Central Oregon.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Of course, I'd say our first trip was is usually
April anyway.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Yeah, because it's still Golden March and we're not doing
in of October. Or March no more.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
Yeah, well, I know I had my sister here in
February last year and it was snowing, so yeah, you're
probably right about April. So yeah, So anyway, it's kind
of it's been kind of nice to be, uh talking
about r v's again because it's been so long. It

(30:17):
was definitely couldn't talk about too much in the last
two years. But and then I keep hearing about you
guys as camping trips and I'm just super jealous, we know. Yeah,
and so the end of thing was kind of funny.
On the homestead thing. Real quick, I'm just going to
bring it up us. We have a little competition going

(30:37):
on over here. So Debbie has a whole bunch of
chick This is not the but I've been trying to,
you know, starting to get white eggs from my leghorns,
and she her and I we split this big order
of chickens between each of us, and she got a
rooster and she was supposedly and I got a in hands. Anyway,

(31:03):
I'm getting lots of white eggs and she says she's
not getting any story.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
I didn't get my rooster.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
Yeah, but you should still be getting hands. I mean
still getting eggs right right, right?

Speaker 3 (31:20):
No, Rob gave me the late layers.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Yeah, we picked through each little chick and made sure
that you got the ones that did in the eggs.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
He's just jealous because I always be better than he does,
so he had to give me the late layers.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
And you know, since I'm getting kind of more back
to normal a little bit, I think it's like, no
more letting her beat the hell out. However, I did
make her feel better because they're painting their house right now,
and so you painted the outside of your house all white,
and then I get there and they're painting the inside

(31:54):
of the house all white. So it was only the
right thing to do for me to come over and
give you a dozen white eggs.

Speaker 3 (32:01):
And I so appreciate it. Yeah, I don't eggs, I know.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
I mean, she's got tons of eggs, but she just
doesn't have any white eggs. So now, so when it
comes to r V, getting back to this, what are
some of the main things that you guys are kind
of planning on good one, What are some of the

(32:28):
things you're planning in the next well by next year
to either add on or change on your RV For
traveling next year.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
We don't need to change anything.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Yeah, it's set to go.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
Fully loaded, and all we got to do is put
food in there.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Well, I think I know what I need.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
To get stairs.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Well I need stairs, of course, but a Ninja slurpy
machine or.

Speaker 3 (33:02):
You gotta make spicy slurpies.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Yeah, we'll put some of that spicy stuff in it.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
Fireball, Sure that might be good.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Actually, yeah, other than making sure that we packed the starlink, yeah,
I don't see anything else we need to add to it.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
Yeah, and I have r V Ranger. So if you
just bring your starlink and just tell me what the password.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Is automatically have it anyway.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Then I'll then I have internet too, because then I
don't have to bring my starlink.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
Also, there's no use in both of us bringing it.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Yeahs coordinate next time we'll go. But uh so my Yeah,
we have the wife Wi Fi Ranger in it. And
it's really a nice system. I've had it, Gosh, I've
had it for since I bought the r V, so
it's been a good system. It's probably getting out of date,
but it still works good.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
So when we went camping in Eastern Oregon in the canyon.
We had the starlink and it actually jumped what four
or five spots all the way down to where Mom
and Dad and uh Mike's trailers was, and everybody had internet.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
Sweet good deal.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Oh yeah, personal version of VENA.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
So anyway, what's your guys' take, because I know you guys,
what are some of the r V shows that you've
been watching lately?

Speaker 3 (34:44):
RB shows? We watched What's Victorian.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Craig, Craig's uh RV Life.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Arett Le every Hanks and then there's a friend of
theirs that we watched too. I don't know the name
of their show though.

Speaker 2 (35:06):
But they went to Alaska together. Yeah, oh no, that
was yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Yeah, So watching these shows and I know I've got.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
A traveling Robert yep.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Do you guys? Are you guys a little skeptical about
r V quality lately?

Speaker 2 (35:31):
RV? What RV quality quality?

Speaker 3 (35:34):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (35:35):
Yes, you got a newer RV than I do, so
you games have been very lucky, and I'm glad I
have an older one because we're really happy with our
r V. But I'm terrified if I had to buy
an RV, you know, in the last five years.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
Yeah, oh yeah, we had friends. Actually it's my brother's
best friend. They went and bought a new r BE
and they had nothing but problems. Granted they didn't use
it for the first year, but still they shouldn't have
had problems. Yeah, but yeah, they had all kinds of problems.

(36:13):
And at the same time we got our last trailer.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
Yeah what what trailer did they buy?

Speaker 3 (36:21):
I don't remember.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
It was a gosh, I want to say, outlook, it's
a toy hauler. Ah outlook I think was the name
of it. Made by Force Forest.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
River, Yeah, I think so. Yeah, but yeah, the new
ones are making now are are Aren't they heavier?

Speaker 2 (36:50):
Yeah? A lot heavier.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
They're heavier trailers. Theriderator doesn't come propane. It's electricity, So
if you want a dry dock somewhere, you can't.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
And it costs like and all the trailers like that
thousands of dollars to put a brand new refrigerator does both.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Yeah. Yeah, but many people on the ranch have r v's.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
A lot of people on the ranch has r vs.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
Everybody on our block has one.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Yeah, Jack's got it figured out. Heavy version, uh heavy,
verdy check chassis, cat engine YEP and Alison automatic. I
could be smarter just to build one. There you go,
Maybe maybe not, but anyway, Yeah, I've been watching. Uh,

(37:54):
I know it's a grand design.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
Some people out there with some serious issues out there,
and it seems like they're not the advocacy I think,
I said, all right, Luckily there's some Facebook pages out
there to kind of help support those kind of people.
But they literally are having trouble with the frames, a
lot of them, and they're literally.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
Is another one Yep, there's another one that's not good.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
They don't frame, and then it starts going down the side,
going down sideways down the road.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
Yeah. So it's like, I don't know what they're trying
to accomplish. It's like.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
Because of COVID, Yeah, but they basically their work ethics
in the factories all went downhill. That's why I'm glad
this was the twenty eighteen Oh wow, and it just
right before COVID. And that thing's nice inside.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Yeah, I had it only had one owner yep.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
When we bought our our fifth wheel was actually an
owner before it that had it less than ten months, Yeah,
ten months and wanted to trade it in for a
bigger one. It's like, I know, well they wanted a
bigger ones. So what was nice is uh because somebody

(39:29):
about ahead of time they put all the little toys
in it that we wanted, and because I had a
generator and a lot of things that we wanted. And
then we added in solar too for a charging system.
Nothing fancy and stuff.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
But oh but remind me what I wanted to add
to mine.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
Yeah, Oh, so you're gonna add some solar.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Yeah, or I'm going to go with a yetty real big.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
Yeah, it's got the solar now, but it's just like
trickle charger.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
One of the things we learned on our trip camping
this last weekend is Sherry's using a seapap machine. And
one of the problems we had with it was not
that it couldn't you know. We were easily could run
the seapap uh in the in the r V, no problem,
but the size of the seapap was a little bit

(40:30):
too big for the edge of the bed, so we
had to kind of set up a separate table for it,
and so we had to kind of we're just got
to make sure that we have something stable to hold
on to our seapap machine because it won't set on

(40:51):
a ledge correctly, and so it was the kind of
until you go camping, we wouldn't have known that. So
we were glad we had once once again did a
camping trip before doing more trips next year to give
us a chance to work out some of these problems.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
So we just gotta room to put a small like
end table there.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Uh yeah, but it's gonna have to be kind of
lowered to the ground and uh and then she should
probably have to open up the closet sliding closet just
to make sure that she has enough foot space down below.
But anyway, it should be easy problem to fix. But
it was kind of a kind of a shocker when
you're on our camping trips. She didn't have a place,

(41:39):
a good place to put her machine because she thought
it was going to fit on the ledge just perfect.
But it was just a bit wide. So it could
be the new machines a little wider than the old ones.
But anyway, but that was something if somebody's buying a
new RV and stuff like that and one of your
both of you are using a sea pap machine, make

(42:00):
sure we have lots of outlets. But we had a
hard time having a place to put it and.

Speaker 2 (42:07):
You're gonna wanna a small yetti for each machine. Yeah,
I think our yetti handled yours all night, but you
had to charge it in the morning, right, No, went
three days for a charge.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
That's good.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
So yeah, we're kind of thing about you're gonna have
a problem.

Speaker 1 (42:33):
Yeah we ever yetty too, but I'm kind of thinking
about buying another one just for a backup because here
in such an Oregon we do lose our power every
once in a while, but it never seems to be
very long. But during that time, the biggest things we
worry about is having the pellet stove running, and also
and keeping the or fish tank warm.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
Yeah sou and you're well.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
Am I you're well?

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Oh my wa was The wells actually not too bad
because it holds fifty gallons all the time, so and
let's just been off a long time. If that fifty
gallons doesn't run out, I don't need to worry about
turning on the well. But I do have a backup
on the well for with a five thousand generator if

(43:27):
I needed to. But I've never had the fire.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Up the well, thank god.

Speaker 1 (43:32):
Yeah, so only because it'd probably be really cold and snowy.
If I had to do it, wouldn't be really happy.
I'd be whine in the sherry something fierce. But I
just lose.

Speaker 3 (43:47):
Power the other day with that dang windstorm we had.

Speaker 1 (43:51):
I know, I was just noticing, is my new screen
here on on this software using doesn't tell me what
time it is?

Speaker 2 (44:05):
Oh it is six?

Speaker 1 (44:07):
Okay? Good? All right? So I try to keep it
under an hour no longer. So anyway, So a lot
of things, so many things to talk about in the
r VS. But one of the things that I guess
I want to acknowledge was all the problems that people
were having with with the current r vs and the quality.

(44:29):
But uh, another thing I've been hearing about is the
new trucks. And I think you probably heard about so
does your you you don't have a diesel? Do you?

Speaker 3 (44:41):
No?

Speaker 6 (44:41):
I have a.

Speaker 1 (44:43):
Oh okay, because the new trucks, I'm telling you, are
differently having trouble with the new the ones that you
use death, the ones with the ignition problems that not
ignition problems, but what is the backup system that they're

(45:05):
using for the exhaust and stuff too? Yeah, Anyway, I
don't think there's one truck out there. I don't care
if it's a GMC or Chevy or Ford. They're all
having problems. And it's like I keep hearing about that.

(45:27):
And you guys know, I have a Ford two thousand
and two Ford, but that doesn't have a death system.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
Because it's putting a chemical in your exhaust that your
exhaust system isn't meant to do.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Yeah, and I'm you know, every you guys have been
watching the same I have. And this is amazing some
of these stories. These guys have got thousands of dollars
invested into these ignition problems and uh, you know the

(46:03):
EPA diesel problem, emission problems and and uh, which which
Jack has saving me because he put that on the screen.

Speaker 2 (46:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (46:12):
Anyway, well, see the big thing is a diesel engine
isn't meant to burn its own exhausts. Well, I agree,
and that's what the that's what their whole system is
built now, is their exhaust goes out and then comes
back in to your intake side and basically you're starving

(46:35):
the starving the cylinder of oxygen. Yeah, and it it's
not meant to do that.

Speaker 1 (46:43):
And I was like, I keep seeing these guys with
these immaculate looking trucks, and I keep saying, oh, I
wish I had a truck like that. But once I
hear about the fact that they were running on the
death Systems's like, I will never sell my truck. I
have a seven point read diesel in mine and it
runs perfect, and it's got a lot of miles. I

(47:04):
think I got about two hundred and fifty thousand miles
on it, but they tell me that it's not even
broke in until it hits four hundred.

Speaker 2 (47:13):
Yeah. But we first got our first trailer, we just
had a ram fifteen YEP that didn't only had six cylinders,
just barely pulled the Alpha Wolf. We got rid of
the Alpha Wolf. We got rid of the truck too,
because I said, I need something bigger that's going to

(47:33):
haul this thing yep. So that's when we got the
Ranger or not Ranger Rebel.

Speaker 1 (47:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (47:42):
And now that I have the HEMI and change the
spark plugs and everything, it's working great.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (47:51):
I hard to even know the things back there half
the time.

Speaker 1 (47:55):
Now with my rig, I got the two wheel drive duly,
and the reason we went with that is the ratings
for a two wheel drive as opposed to a four
wheel drive duly is a five thousand dollars different, five
thousand pound difference in the tongue weight. And because of

(48:15):
our trailer was a big, a big rig. So when
we heard about the tongue weight of that, it was
on sale and I bought an enumclaw I think it was,
and I bought it used, but it was actually the
only very little mileage on it. Because the folks that
bought it, his wife passed away, and so there r

(48:36):
V dreams kind of went away, and so he had
to sell his rig and it had the fifth wheel
hitch and everything all set up already. So I just
snagged it. And I've been driving that truck for over
twenty years now, so I'm pretty happy with it. Yep, wow, yep.

(48:57):
And yeah, So you guys, have you had any problems
with your hitch system that you have? Now?

Speaker 2 (49:07):
No, no, good, Yeah, it's it's it's actually one of
the easier hitches that I've ever had to hook up.
I mean basically it just raised my jack put it
up there and who I'm done.

Speaker 1 (49:21):
Does that have sway bars?

Speaker 2 (49:23):
Yeah? Oh yeah, And with the truck has its own
hydraulic lift in the back. Oh wow, I just drive underneath,
lift the truck up and lift everything up.

Speaker 1 (49:36):
Oh nice.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
Yeah, the trailer before this one, the brake controller. Yeah,
we could never get it to work or stop on.

Speaker 2 (49:51):
Us, lock up the brakes.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
We spend what three on this new brake system. Never
everything was controlled by your phone, it would never work.

Speaker 1 (50:06):
Yeah. So have you guys ever tried air press air
pressure systems on your tires where you can monitor them
all the time?

Speaker 2 (50:17):
Ours? Ours are?

Speaker 3 (50:18):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (50:20):
Does it?

Speaker 2 (50:21):
Yeah? They got a little on the truck yeah, yeah,
and then on the trailer it has little the caps. Yeah,
they turn green when you got them when they're perfect,
and then they'll turn red when they're low.

Speaker 3 (50:36):
Oh wow, I didn't know that.

Speaker 2 (50:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (50:39):
I was kind of thinking about getting said of those
uh by next year to save my allowance.

Speaker 2 (50:47):
Yeah, and I go through, like if we're stopped at
a rest stop or something, I'll go through and I'll
check the hubs, make sure they're they're not hot or anything.

Speaker 1 (50:57):
And yeah, so does h wie help you with doing
uh uh walk around checks on the.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
RB because the inside I do the outside. Excuse me,
I think.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
You better rephrase that. Yeah, yeah, I do the walk
around yeah, we do.

Speaker 1 (51:17):
Surey and I both do it. But you know, we've
been doing this for so many years. It's like, ah,
it's like there's no way we'd skip it because, uh,
even with two people going around monitoring the system, the
whole RV is like you always find something. Sometimes you
may forget to close up the water thing or the

(51:40):
uh it's just dumble you left the window open or whatever,
and or make sure you put your antenna down.

Speaker 5 (51:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
My side of the family has camped my whole life. Yeah,
so if anything ever happened and John, I am able
to hook up and do all that stuff. I think,
And you know they have they have classes for women.
Yeah that will showed them exactly what to do and

(52:11):
how to do it. My mom took the class years ago.
But since I raised I was raised in a family,
the whole family that went camping all the time. Yeah,
I know how to do it. Do I want to
do it?

Speaker 2 (52:26):
Not?

Speaker 3 (52:26):
Really? I don't want to stand out there when it's cold.

Speaker 1 (52:33):
Armson, Wow, Debbie Inspector one do Actually Aaron Jimmerson, You
guys don't know them, but he's actually been on RV
talk radio a couple of times, and uh, throughout the years.

(52:54):
We he helped me do some shows together. Aaron, I
think is still hosting. I'm not sure if he's still
are you still a host at an RV park if
I can get him a I'm not sure if he's
listening directly or that, but I want to check is
like I have. I haven't talked to Aaron for a
couple of years now, but come on, he's certified, Arvey,

(53:21):
He's a certified That's what it was. He's been getting
certified as an RV inspector. Are you doing any more
RV park hosting anymore? Aaron? He's type of like crazy
tip tape tape tape type tape. He's very very It.

Speaker 3 (53:43):
Looks like they're typing like crazy, but it's only like
two words.

Speaker 1 (53:48):
That would be me because I know I can't hit
the darn keys right. But Aaron has a wonderful background,
and I knew him when he first got his RV
and then I got to know him and his wife
a little bit when they first started to be able
to travel, and then he lost his wife while they're

(54:13):
hosting an RV parks, which was super sad. It was
really because they're working really hard to be able to
get mobile, and then when they finally did, unfortunately had
that terrible incident. And but I know he's been working
on a certification as an RV inspector, and I can

(54:33):
tell you one thing, he would be one of the
best inspectors you could ever get for your RV. So
if anybody's looking for an RV inspector and you have
to tell me what state you're in, now erin, but
I make sure put out the word out that you're yesterday, yesterday,
years ago, yesterday. Holy A lot of time has gone by.

(54:56):
So I haven't talked to Aaron since I two years ago,
after before I had my stroke, so I've kind of
been out of rob Oh thank you anyway, So it's
a pleasure to see Aaron. I do know as an
RV inspector, if you get a chance, you have to

(55:18):
tell me what state you're in. Make sure people what anyway, Aaron,
I probably we should get you on the show one

(55:38):
of these days and tell us what's been going on.
I'm out of touch and I haven't done an RV
talk radio and Iowa, Iowa.

Speaker 3 (55:47):
We're taking a trip to Iowa.

Speaker 1 (55:49):
Yeah, anyway, I can tell you Aaron is a very
talented man and he would be a great inspector. So anyway,
I would probably just go to Iowa too, just to
have him go through my rig. Just He's enlightened me
lots of times in the old in the old days.

(56:10):
But I'm glad to finally finally catch up with him.
So I would be kind of meaning to contact Aaron,
and I definitely would love to get get him on
the show, So plan on it. Aaron would love to
get you on there and let him let us hear
about what you're up to with r v's and it
would be just a pleasure to see you again. So anyway, everybody,

(56:32):
I gotta kind of let the word out. Was like,
the show's closing up. The show here, Yeah, I got
four minutes. So anyway, it was a pleasure. First of all,
I'm going to be doing shows with John and Debbie
here a lot because they've been doing r ving. We
haven't hardly. I was really glad to I know we haven't.

(56:56):
We just scratched the surface. But this the show just
kind of get back into loop a little bit, and uh,
I'll try to get the show advertised a little bit more.
And because I haven't done a show in quite a while.
So I think, actually, back in the days when I
was just finishing up, I think, Aaron, what did shows
with us and stuff? But and yeah, we just shut

(57:19):
her down. So and plus I quit r ving for
a while. And but now we get rid of our
pigs and some of our animals, and so now we're
able to travel again, and we're kind of looking forward
to it. And I finally get the r v UH
in better shape. And now I got to go Iowa
to have Aaron inspect my rig.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (57:40):
Yeah, we got to make that trip to Washington.

Speaker 2 (57:42):
How far.

Speaker 1 (57:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (57:47):
A good night, yacka.

Speaker 1 (57:53):
Thanks for watching you see, I'll say, I can't see
comments right now, oh jack. Yeah, So Aaron, keep in
touch and send me I am, and tell me when
a good time is when we can get a hold

(58:14):
of you, and maybe heavy on the show. And I
am going to get my screen changed here. But thank
everybody for watching RV talk radio.
