After divorce, which stand-up choices really count?

This week I’m joined by comedian, writer, and director Jay Larson, who’s been making audiences laugh for 24 years. When his marriage ended right before the pandemic, Jay made intentional choices to give his kids a different story than the one he grew up with after his parents’ divorce. His story is honest, funny, and so relatable.

As you listen, I invite you to think about your own stand-up choices. Which ones have been hard won? Which ones are you rethinking? Jay’s experience just might mirror something in your own life — whether it’s how you talk about your ex, what you choose to share (or not share) about your divorce, or simply the words you use to describe your life now.

This conversation kept evolving well beyond the questions I asked. Jay talks about the impact of words, what it means to stand up for your kids and your values, and the everyday choices that shape who we are after divorce. It’s funny, vulnerable, and so relatable.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
