Speaker 2 (00:05):
Yeah, it's like I don't care about people running except
for in the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Okay, Well, this movie had worked better if it was
track and field, because I say that because you do
different things like shot putting.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
It might have worked with the different events. It might
have worked if they just kept it on the football.
What if you just stayed as the football coach. They
didn't want the average sh it or maybe he turned
him in the side curve player.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
That was something yo, fucked up?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
You know why?

Speaker 4 (00:32):
But I mean yo, they don't play soccer there. Apparently
they was playing football.

It's like, all we don't gotta country club. We don't
even got a game work the No.

fourth out of four, also known.

I mean, you know, wanted to being killer?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Yeah, but why did you ever? We didn't why I
thought it was gonna be he was end up sucking
the mob.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Because he was mad. Remember he was her, her dad's partner. Yeah, yeah,
set the dad up.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Oh he set the dad up.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah he killed the dad.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Oh, because I thought he was saying he was mad
because his girlfriend was cheating or the wife was cheating.
He was probably trying to fund her too, right, that
should have been explained, like it doesn't make sense you mad?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
No left. There was some plot holes. I hate Andy
Garcia standing that dude, Yeah, the same person, get me somewhere.

basketball coach.

Speaker 3 (07:55):

Speaker 2 (18:49):
But I feel like if we hadn't seen movies like
Coach Carter and uh remember Very Titans, I think this
would have been I would have been like, oh, ship,
this is great. Also, I don't give a shit about
track and field, yeah, like even tracking once it was
cross even worse. Yeah, I don't care about people running

(19:11):
except for in the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Okay, well, this movie had worked better if it was
track and field because I say that because you do
different things like shot putting.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
It might have worked with different events. It might have
worked if they just kept it on the football. What
if you just stayed as the football club. They didn't
want the average ship or maybe he turned him into
sid players.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
That was something Yo fucked up?

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yo know why?

Speaker 4 (19:36):
But I mean, yo, they don't play soccer there. Apparently
they were playing football.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Oh man, yeah, I love.

the middle.

Speaker 7 (20:19):

Speaker 3 (20:20):
So I drove past.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Oh maybe probably if you driven into the Bay area. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (20:26):

to like what is the little wine area?

what it's called to the wine country. Yeah, yeah, I drove.

the protests sing and all that stuff whatever, And I
drove through.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
It was with Coco.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
I drove through and I just seen like a whole
bunch of white people. They're like yeah, and it said
Black Lives Matter, and I'm like, what the fuck is
going on? And they like waving at us, and she
was like maybe we should stop. I was like, no, no,
because we would go to jail first, right, yeah, so
the fuck up out of here man, Yeah for real?

Speaker 3 (21:31):
So yeah. A review from September twenty fifteen, oh fifteen,
Jeffrey from the UK says, Nico Carro uses every device
I heard disposal to make a rousing, feel good movie.
I guess that's the director, but risks turning the film
into a glorified fairy tale in the process. It's a
real life story.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
What the is about some fairy tale?

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Maybe? Well they say a lot of shit be exaggerate.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Yeah, some things do. Yeah, yeah, yeah, some things do.
But I mean whatever.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Christine Coren says February fifth, twenty So that's five years
if the film came out. The character development, the raw emotions,
and the pain beyond the physical is portrayed beautifully. Emon
m five stars out of four stars out of five.
August four, twenty twenty four. She says, or he says,
this is a must watch for underdog sports story. Uh

(22:23):
so I just thought about something. So we're just gonna
go backwards for a love of money bred now Gang
or this.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Right out of doubt, without a doubt?

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Was he the better coach?

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Are you did what you can?

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Mean?

Speaker 2 (22:37):
I think I just have a more of an attachment
because from La.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yeah, yeah, this is this is lokey. I like to
travel positive. Yeah what about have you seen Gredau Gang? Yeah?
Seen it. It's not like my favorite football.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (23:03):
I don't even know how to hear it. Yeah, I
would sacred the game. But then I'm like, man, that
is not even top three, four or five? You see
moneyball is the moneyball?

Speaker 2 (23:16):
Yeah? That was there, right, moneyball? That's rollerball.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Ke Kevin Costa was a moneyball to moneyball?

Speaker 2 (23:25):
Is Brad Pitton? What's no draft?

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Yeah? Something in the draft days today?

Speaker 2 (23:31):
That's Kevin?

Speaker 3 (23:31):
I like it too, So would you rather wise draft day?
In this draft ding was kind of crazy. Yeah, that's
thriller too, being.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
In the show football really in draft day, yeah, really
strictly in the office.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Yeah, and it was like thrilling, like to get the
call and have you seen draft Day?

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Yeah, that was a good one.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
And it was like it was they got into the
nitty yeah. Yeah, it was about to pick number one.
It was like, why didn't nobody, none of his teammates
show up?

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Yeah like that bro, Yeah yeah, they don't like that. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Crazy.

Speaker 6 (24:07):
So how you think that the office went when Luca
was like up for grabs, like, get him the funk
out of here.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
It's gotta be something deeper.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
They didn't want to pay him seventy million. That's what
this contract is about to be.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
That's probably why you play seven million. And they said
his weight. I mean yeah, he didn't look at that
really he looked a little swollen really yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Oh damn.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
Yeah. But I mean they already don't be in shape,
like look at look at what's his name? Yo?

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Yeah, yo, give the fun, bro, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
They don't do not giving.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
Yeah, they don't get.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
Because they fun.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
They got the fundamentals, So yeah, they make it look
easy easy.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Was wild.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
It never in Yeah, that's true. There would never bake
you down. And they say it's the food here. Oh yeah,
they probably love the food.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yeah, when he.

Speaker 6 (25:00):
Comes back, when he goes to his country, when joker
goes to his country or whatever, and they come back
and start when they get here, they look good as hell.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
It bus food. They go over there and they eating clean.
Look at is this no excuse? Don't live out there?

Speaker 1 (25:19):
I mean what he don't live out here?

Speaker 2 (25:21):
I mean, don't live out there. No, probably works out
really hard. They probably don't work out, that makes sense,
and they eat our food get bloaded. But then they
go back home and they food lose weight. That makes
look like he probably don't. He just probably has muscles

(25:44):
that is natural.

Speaker 6 (25:47):
Yeah we know, Well I know a black dude that's
like that. Like have you ever known a black dude
that's just like, Bro, you don't work out. I ain't
never seen anything like lift the weight. I don't push
people like you, just like when it's like I don't
get the funk up and they heat.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Bad or good Nikki.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
They just built like that.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
It's just like, just Bro, you would be built like
that too, don't eat the jack in the box there.
You be built like that, it's natural.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Yeah, he's just eating bullshit.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
I can tell by your hands, the mits on them.
He just you dropped that jack in the box. You're
gonna like thirty forty pounds, but you're still gonna be
solid like for real. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
Have you ever see those back of house boxes a Nike. Yeah,
he used to lift a whole column up. Bro, that's
what they would call him. Yeah, Captain America Bro. Oh god, bro,
the whole like you know, they stacked up the whole column. Bro,
And we need your moves be gold bros.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Crazy Yeah, got that natural strength?

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Yeah, drinks.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
Over here. Damn. Oh man, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
That nigga was on a serious revenge tour.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
When I grow up and be like killer.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Who else wos up?

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Uncle Jimmy Webbing the nigga name.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Killed that.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Man.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Oh but lifespan zero everybody zero?

Speaker 2 (27:40):
Yeah it wasn't zero.

Speaker 6 (27:44):
But I don't, Like I said, if I'd never seen
any of you know, like the black movies like this,
then yeah, I'll watch it. But like saying black movies
like this didn't face you know, since we were like
younger it's overcome things. It's like, damn, remember The Titans

(28:07):
a black movie?

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Or is it?

Speaker 1 (28:09):
That's a good question because it's like fifty fifty.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
It is that, remember Derek lu.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
I'm gonna to it over the edge. It's not it's
a black movie. I'm gonna take Brian Goslin was on
the Disney Channel singing, joousy, yeah, wow, here with us.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
That's so the American Okay, so is American Data a
black show?

Speaker 2 (28:35):
You got.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
Steve singing alien remember that he was?

Speaker 3 (28:44):
I guess so you know, you know, stand don't got
no black friends. I see one black here?

Speaker 2 (28:50):
You do?

Speaker 1 (28:52):
He ain't got no Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Oh it's the principal really, yeah, the principle that Steve
goes to school with. He's black. That ain't his friend.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
That ain't stand friend.

Speaker 6 (29:03):
It's it's like a friend in between. Okay, Yeah, you
have Koala Bearry. They put a black person inside the Koala. Yeah,
watched the show. Yeah that it is funny.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
You know Maggie Marge is black, Yeah, I believe.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
And the friend sister yeah yeah, relevant scene or character
if you can remember.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Oh everything he said irrelevant?

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Yeah, irrelevant. The bitch ass coach. The nigga that fired
him caught on.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Oh yeah, yeah, I didn't like him. But I'm gonna
go with the scene where they had practice and the
mama roll up in the truck like what yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Yeah that was true.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
I guess to show that their mama don't play because remember, like,
well tell her the way, you tell her the way.
I think that's what he said. Yeah, that's what you
tell a blacky.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
You go over there. The important to.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
I don't think it's important to nobody, nobody.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
I think it was none of them, none of the
none of I can't even click on the name already.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
R she just you know, yeah, she stay in that lane.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
Yeah yeah, I think it was just important to brown
people basically.

Speaker 6 (30:34):
Yeah, I'll give it that just to be on screen,
because like I said, I really don't know mm hmm
any Hispanic movies like that.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Yeah, Black Panther too, Yeah, that's true. Black Panther to
the Mayans.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
M v P.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
I got a Danny Diaz at the end. He saved
him to Wednestate. Yeah maybe is that I know that who?
I think he came into anything. It was flagging and
he was like, oh yeah, dropped my right, I actually
gotta do something now. God damn, I don't understand. The
points is in cross country? Yeah yeah, long ass running,

(31:14):
thank you long.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Little kids like to do it now.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
I don't be surprised if you hit you with that
cross country either.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
One of my homies, his son, he really wanted.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
To do it.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
He's doing it.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Man. Like when I be a football practice.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
You see them running, Yeah, just running.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Yeah. By the time, like you be finishing up practice,
they be coming back and like where did y'all run to?

Speaker 1 (31:37):
How are you not tired?

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Man?

Speaker 3 (31:39):
This ship boord?

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (31:42):
But yeah, the wrap up notes that thought is, uh
that man said, tell your mom she can wait. Students
respond you tell her? I felt that It was like, yeah, okay,
tell her she can wait. My ass. H.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
You want to spend night at your friend house like
you Yeah, it's always better in the front.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
So when you get to that point, how you're gonna
handle that?

Speaker 2 (32:07):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Oh you don't.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
I'm gonna say no, damn, God, damn nobody.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
I'm just gonna be like, yeah, I don't care.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
No.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Uh. Yeah, I knew somehow, some way Disney was gonna
have his daughter, Julie have a love interest, of course,
with the scene her her books falling and he helping her.
If you remember that scene. Oh yeah, Principal Carmelo or
I think is the name. It was a real smart
ass through the film.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
I didn't like that.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
I didn't.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
I don't think he liked the white people because he
was like, like he will always like disrespecting.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Me ship like that.

Speaker 7 (32:50):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
It's the Hispanic community known for running across country.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Um, not that I remember. I mean, and I went
to a predominantly Latino high school. Oh really, yeah, they played,
They all played. It was either a football team, the
baseball team. Oh, soccer team, and that was it. Oh well, okay,

(33:16):
I don't remember too many field or a cross country.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
The film's patients pretty good. I was thirty minutes in
and didn't even notice it at first. Since White, see
this will have a problem. Since White never coached cross country.
I wish they would have showed spent some time with him,
studying the rules and learning more about it. That way
the audience could learn what it was to you just
got in, yeah, and that was it. He wasn't like,

(33:42):
h late nine, I need to figure this shit out
or I'm not getting it. It's me that's felling the kids.
I'm like, they're good at cross country. I'm like, do
you how do you know that?

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Because and practice? That was it when he was a
football coach.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Run or Yeah, that don't mean you good at cost
country exactly. Yeah, m.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Oh, yeah, that's one sport.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
I think I can never do his track or a
cross country like that because you by yourself, you run
out of the gas that nigga still blowing your ass
out and there's nothing you can do to catch.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
You just gotta watch them.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
Run away, right, Or if you try to pain that
ship ever you fought, it's your fault.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (34:23):
Yeah, so you gotta hope the person that you hand
it off to God will Yeah that's true. Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 1 (34:31):
Does cross country more about endurance or speed?

Speaker 2 (34:35):
I think endurance?

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Yeah, I think so too, But then there was talking
if because then they were talking about to do passing
each other.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
So I don't know.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Because, like I said, the points SYSM was kind of weird.
They didn't take the time to explain the rules to
the audience.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
I think they're expecting the audience to know the rules
of cross country.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
That's some bullshit.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Yeah maybe hit big. Yeah, community, maybe it did. That's
why tripled his money.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. But I would say
that far as because we're dealing with a coach that
never did it. I could see if we came in
the coach was known. Without looking at the facts about
the film, those hills definitely look man made when they
was practicing on the hills.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
I didn't even notice when they were practice. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Remember the ship was under there.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
Yeah you know what this is? Yeah yeah, no, that's
what he were saying to the coach.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Yeah, yeah, those uh hmm, what was it like wal nuts.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Something, Yeah, it was Walter nuts. Yeah, yeah, that's what
it was.

Speaker 6 (35:31):
Usually they just put them in a big pile like that.
Because like when you're coming down from like Tracy, uh,
like tarp ship, all that ship.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
You know a lot about the band?

Speaker 2 (35:44):
What the hell? I don't know nothing about the band.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
You talk about you seeing at Tracy, you naming parts
I never heard of.

Speaker 6 (35:51):
No, I said, just coming down because like when it
was like my first time driving through, Like how I drive,
Like I look at places. It's like if it ain't
never been there, whatever, then I'll look around or whatever.
But then, like, let's say, if it's nighttime or if
something happens, I know how to get the funk back
to Wheah the fuck I came from. Yeah, so I'm

(36:13):
just like I observe everything first.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Time, missing the B day, then throwing to kensing his
kind of ghost status in my dad opinion. Yeah, I
mean we're in the Mexican town. Now, how the fuck
did he get a great job in cross country after
one season and getting to state he didn't even win. Yeah,
mid season, Hey, come to our town to be our

(36:39):
cross country because they knew like, oh okay, he whipped
them in the shape.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Like if he could do that there as a first
he could definitely improve our program.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Yes, if they're already runners. Yeah, they was mad and ship.
It's like, bro, you just met me. Y'all barely called
me my name. They was calling a nigga something else.
Uh that state sampion shit, win only secures my new job.
Fuck that I over succeeded here. Fam, here's it. I'm
throwing deuces to a better position.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
I'm not staying here.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
Yeah, what the fuck.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
My family don't want to live here. Somebody just got shot.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Fuck that.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
I don't know if Polyto Alto's how far.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
That's the nice time? Oh really, and that's like outside
of San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Oh damn you I definitely been out. Uh my final notice.
I have what a beautiful story. Everyone on the team
was successful. There's always one nigga that had to do bad.
Did you see the nigga that went into the pen?
I said, because I was looking at it. They'd save
him for last. I'm like, oh, everybody did something with it,
live fire, fire, param police, lawyers and all that. Then
we get to this nigga. I'm like, nigga Because everybody

(37:45):
got scholarships and stuff. I was like, damn, that's tight.

Speaker 1 (37:48):
Uh damn.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
Quick facts about McFarlane is all right, Danny Diaz was
not overweight as a kid. He was, however, the seventh
person on the team and still instrumented to his nineteen
eighty seven state title win.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
This was said in the eighties. I don't know if
you'll know that.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
I mean I could feel yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Jim White did not create the cross country team at
the school, but instead restarted it after that had been
dropped for a year. He built boys and girls cross
country teams, despite the only boys being shown in the film. Similarly,
White took with the Boys and the Girls teams to
California Coast Beach at caf Some School in California, c

(38:34):
A yu COS during the nineteen eighty five not eighty
seven season. Jim White had not been fired from numerous
prior teaching job before starting at McFarland. He started teaching
them in Farland, the school district after graduating from Pepperdine
University of nineteen sixty four. The film is based on

(38:55):
the actual nineteen eighty seven McFarlane High School cross country
team and the real life coach Jim White. Kevin Carson
was previously considered for the role of Buzz light Year
in Toy Story nineteen ey five, which also was distributed
by Disney.

Speaker 1 (39:09):
Why the fuct Did they give Me That?

Speaker 2 (39:11):
Fact?

Speaker 1 (39:11):
Had none to do and nothing.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
The film was previously stated for November twenty first, twenty
fourteen release under the title McFarlane, but was pushed back
due to February twenty of twenty fifteen to avoid competition
with Hunger Games, Mock and j Park One twenty fourteen.
All promotional materials in Canada, including posters and TV spots,
removed USA from the title of the film, referring to
as simple as McFarland. The Marco Diaz would make headlines

(39:39):
in twenty sixteen after being charged with police corruption. He
would be sendenced to five years in prison. McFarlane was
never rivals with Pao Atto and never completed competed against them.
McFarland is four hours away from Palo Alto. Yep, Like ay,
last words for them? Nah, yeah, what about you?

Speaker 2 (40:05):
M M. I guess said it's a good movie to see,
uh for the brown people.

Speaker 6 (40:14):
And I would probably have it branked up pretty high
if I didn't see, you know, so many black films,
probably why they probably stopped making black films like this,
because it's like, bro, it's just something.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
I'm sure, what's coming about something?

Speaker 6 (40:30):
Bro? You know, let's see a black coach leader, white
basketball team into state or something like, let's see that
about that.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
That's gonna be It's gonna be probably all black hockey
right from Detroit and niggas got fired off. The assembly line.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
Man used to work there Ford, right man. Nope, starring
fucking me.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
I don't know shit about hockey, but hey, we're here
right wash this Devil's game, y'all tell me what y'all
see what y'all can do? Kill these niggas, bro, But yeah,
that's all I got is uh. We said, what was
real about McFarlane USA starring Kevin Costner and Maria Bellow.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
What yep, Yeah, I am domb cruise boy boy. It
was always met.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Tell a friend, to tell a friend.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
Tell a foe, to tell the folk. I forgot, tell
a hope, hope.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
All right, everybody for got around. Come on, once you
look around. That's in the state, right.

Speaker 5 (41:44):
Every team that's here deserves to be, including you. They
haven't got what you got, all right. They don't get
up at dawn like you and go to work in
the fields, right. They don't go to school all day
and then go back to those same fields.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
That's what you do.

Speaker 5 (42:02):
And then you come out with me and you run
eight miles, ten miles, and you take on you take
on even more pain. These kids don't do what you do.
They can't even imagine it. When I went out in
the field that day with you dose kids, I'll be
honest with you, it was some firstase work I had

(42:22):
to do in my life. And I said to myself,
whatever kind of crappy job I end up in It'll
never be as tough as that. You kids do it
every day, and your parents hope they can do it
every day, and they'll do it for a lifetime if
it means a better life for you.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
You guys are superhuman.

Speaker 5 (42:49):
What you endure just to be here, to get a
shot at this and kind of privilege that someone like
me takes for granted. There's nothing you can't do with
that kind of strength, with that kind of heart. The
kids have the biggest hearts I've ever seen. Look Runny Race.

(43:14):
