Speaker 1 (00:21):
That seems and peace to you. This is s be
Favorite Thinking podcast and my name is su Favorite. How
are you doing today? It is Wednesday, Yes it is.
It's Wednesday, February sixth, twenty twenty five. Another wonderful day
and another day to be thankful. And as I always say,

(00:44):
you can focus on what it's good, then you can
project something good to happen when you focus on what
is good. If you are out there today traveling about,
doing your things, driving and just doing whatever it is
you are doing today, make sure you pray, make sure
you stay focused. Make sure you are not distracted too

(01:04):
much by being on your cell phone, because if you
are out in the public, and if you are on
your cell phone too much, that means you are distracted.
So don't be distracted out in the public by being
on your cell phone. Make sure you keep yourself safe
and keep your family members safe. Make sure you pray.

(01:25):
It never hurts to pray. I always remind you of
these things because I care. If you would like to
give to the podcast, you can give at cash app
Dallas sign a sp favor, or you can give that
vemo at s B favor. Once again, if you would

(01:46):
like to give to the podcast. You can give at
cash app Dalasisque Favor or you can give at Vemo
at s B favor. Thank you so much for your
support and your donations. Also, I want to remind you

(02:06):
to give to Feeding America. Meeting America is an organization
that provides food for families families across the nation. Yes,
Feeding America. It is a great organization that provides food
for families across the nation. And also at this time,

(02:29):
Feeding America has a Pacific timement to help the people
of Los Angeles, California, the people that lost their homes
during the terrible fire. They are providing donations to the family.
So make sure you give to Feeding America and you
can find all of their information at Feedingamerica dot org.

(02:51):
Once again, make sure you give to Feeding America. It
is a great charity charity that provides food for family
across the nation and you can find all that information
at Video America dot org. It is better to give
than to be seve so can you can never go

(03:12):
wrong with that. So the title of this episode is
caring for your mental health during difficult times. We are
living in some serious times and we all need to

(03:35):
be mindful of why it is important to care for
our mental health during difficult times. When we watch the
news and we look at what is happening here in
America and across the world, we hear and see that

(03:57):
there are a lot of negative things happening unfortunately. But
I don't want to focus on the negative things. I
want to focus more on the solution to how we
need to function when it comes to dealing with negative things,

(04:19):
because I don't like to focus on problems when it
comes to talking about different topics on this podcast, I
like to focus on solutions. I like, excuse me, I
like for you. I would like for you, excuse me,
to be inspired, motivated. I would like for you to

(04:40):
have something positive to think about despite the negative stuff
that's going on. I would like for you to have
something positive to think about. I don't want you to
think about all the negative things that are happening, because
we can overcome the negative things. Caring for your mental

(05:02):
health during difficult times it is important. It is important
because if we focus too much on the negative things,
that's not good. Yes, you do want to be informed.
There's nothing wrong with being informed. We must be informed

(05:27):
because when we are informed, then we will know what
to do, but we should not focus on the news
or what is happening so much, to the point two
becoming stressed out. We should not focus so much to

(05:47):
become stressed out. It is important to care for our
mental health during difficult times by simply being focused and
being prayerful. That's right, when you hear bad news, if
it's something going on in your personal life, it's best

(06:08):
to have a focus and be prayerful. Because we have
to understand that stress alone is a killer. It is
if you are not managing your stress, if you are

(06:28):
not focused on coping mechanisms, and if you are not
focused on maintaining a healthy mindset or a healthy energy
or a healthy spirit, that means you are not dealing
with your stress correctly. Now, there are levels of stress,

(06:53):
but my intent for talking about this today is it's
just to be you the importance of caring for your
mental health during difficult times. Because the climate in this
country and the news and everything that's happening politically, we

(07:15):
have to care for our mental health. We have to
explore practical strategies to navigate through challenging times. We have
to determine what is good for us in the midst
of something that can be stressful. It is important. We

(07:41):
cannot spend our days going about our day without a plan,
but we should have a plan to care for ourselves,
to care and to care for our mental health. We
should be intentional about caring for ourselves to have healthy

(08:08):
mental health, because if we are not intentional about it,
that could be something bad. Because honestly, when I look
at the news and I start thinking about it too much,
I have to remind myself not to think about it

(08:29):
too much. And if I listen to it long enough,
I have to make sure that my response to it
is to pray, and my response to it is to
continue to have hope and trust in God. That's right,
because when it comes to something we can't control, we

(08:54):
have to go to God. We have to give it
to God. We have to pray because we are living
in difficult times. And the reason why I say it's
difficult it is because there's a lot going on. I
don't have to name any names, I don't have to
be specific about anything, but just turn on the news

(09:15):
and you will know exactly what I'm talking about. But
I have an intention to remind you of what is
important and I have an intention to remind you of
why you should stay focused, care for your mental health,

(09:41):
and have a plan for yourself. I want to remind
you of that in this episode. Caring for your mental
health has everything to do with what you prioritize. That's right.
Something should not be a priority. Some things should be

(10:03):
a priority. The things that help you to have more peace,
the things that help you to be more calm, everything
that helps you to have more joy and more love
and more relaxation. All of those things should be a priority.

(10:24):
We should not be focused on paying attention to the
news so much now we're just walking around in fear.
We should not prioritize listening to the news so much
that we now can't even speak anything that is positive. No,
we should not be doing that. We should prioritize to pray,

(10:47):
prioritize to care for ourselves, prioritize to focus on the
things that give us peace, joy, love, relaxation, and calm.
We have to prioritize being mindful about the things that
help us to get through our day in a better way.

(11:09):
All of those things must be prioritized. We have to also,
as I always say on this podcast, I always talk
about practicing mindfulness. Yes, we have to practice being mindful.
What is mindfulness? Mindfulness is being intentional about prayer, meditation

(11:37):
or deep breeding exercises. What is that? What is that?
Focusing on something to simply have more peace? And I
say something, I'm talking about a stillness, focusing on clearing
your mind, and you can do that with breathing exercises, prayer,

(12:04):
and meditation. Mindfulness is as a it's a technique because
you are clearing your mind, clearing your thoughts of everything
that you don't need, just to be mindful of what
you do need, focusing on the present moment. Why simply

(12:25):
being mindful, That's what practicing mindfulness is all about. Make sure,
as I always say, make sure you connect with friends
and family members to keep edifying conversations flowing. Because when

(12:46):
you connect with friends and family members to keep edifying
conversations going, then you will be encouraged and you will
be motivated and you will have something good to think about.
You constantly discuss the news. There's nothing wrong with discussing
the news, but make sure when you do discuss the news,

(13:09):
discuss it with the context of it's going to be
all right, God, is in control, and discuss it in
the context of hope. Don't discuss it in the context
of doom and gloom and fear and sadness and all
the things you don't need. That's right. Stay connected with

(13:34):
friends to maintain edifying conversations. Now, if someone is having
a conversation that is not edifying, you have the choice
to dismiss yourself, as I always do. I dismiss myself.
I don't wait to engage in the negative conversation. I

(13:55):
dismiss myself. That's right. You have the choice to do
the same thing. You don't have to sit on the
phone or in the company of someone and engage in
a conversation that's just gonna drag you into a place
you don't need to be mentally. So stay connected with

(14:15):
family and friends to maintain at a fine and uplifting conversations.
And like I said, if you're going to discuss the news,
make sure you speak hope. Remember the power of God,
remember the power of prayer. Remember that God is alive,
and remember that God is in control too. So don't

(14:40):
lose hope. Make sure you continually engage in physical activity.
Make sure you do that. Make sure you exercise to
release those Indoor friends and door friends are the happy
hormones and they boost our moods. They help us to

(15:01):
release healing in our bodies. So make sure you engage
in physical activity to take care of your mental health,
because we all have to take care of ourselves this way.
During this time, we have to have a focus. We
have to think about what's important. Don't engage in activities

(15:24):
that are full of distraction and vanity, because you're not
gonna get anything from that. The time that we live in,
we must build ourselves up because we don't know what's
gonna happen next. We don't know, and so the way
to pair mentally and spiritually is to build yourself up.

(15:53):
Build yourself up by reading the Bible and reading information.
That is rule of inspiration. Build yourself up by reading
books and listening to information that will give you a focus,

(16:14):
a positive focus. That's what you want to do. You
don't want to engage in anything that's going to pull
you down. You don't want to engage in anything that's
going to drag your spirit in a place. You don't
want your mind to be. You want to stay in

(16:37):
a place of being inspired. You want to stay in
a place mentally of being lifted up, not dragged down,
not sadness or as oppression. You want to have a
focus to keep yourself lifted up, because once again, we

(17:00):
have to care for our mental health during difficult times,
and the way to do it is to have a
focus on what is important. Make sure you also don't
forget prioritize getting enough rest that's right, quality sleep for night.

(17:25):
Make sure you prioritize getting enough rest because when you
prioritize getting enough rest, you will have the right energy
during the day while you were up. Make sure you
maintain a healthy diet that goes along with prioritizing sleep.

(17:47):
Maintaining a healthy diet and prioritizing your rest. Nourish your
body with good food, not process food, not sugary food,
not a bunch of caffeine. But nourish your body with

(18:08):
healthy foods, good vegetables, good fruits, food that's alive. Because
of all of this is tied into caring for your
mental health during difficult times, we have to do it.
Why because the days ahead can be filled with things

(18:35):
that might be uncomfortable. Why you know what I'm talking about.
I don't have to be specific. Just watch the news,
and like I said, when you watch the news, just
make sure you care for yourself. Not to focus on
the doom and the gloom, but focus on what it's good.
And make sure you pray. Always. Always challenge negative thoughts

(19:00):
you may have in your mind. Always why because if
you sit around and you think about a bunch of
negative things, it's not gonna help you. It's not gonna
help you. Challenge the negative thoughts, identify and challenge negative
thought patterns and replace them with more positive and realistic thoughts.

(19:26):
You have to do it. We all have to do it.
We all have to take care of our mental health
during difficult, difficult times. And also remember if you find
yourself struggling for some reason or another, if you feel

(19:50):
discouraged or sad, or if you feel like what you're
experiencing is too much for you to handle, make sure
you reach out to someone. Let somebody know what you're
going through. But don't go through anything alone. Because once again,
we all have to take care of our mental health

(20:13):
during difficult times. And how do we do it. We
do it by praying. We do it by engaging in
physical activity. We do it by keeping and maintaining edifying conversations.
We do it by having a focus, being mindful, and

(20:34):
practicing mindfulness. Also, make sure you gauge in creative activities.
Exployer creativity through art, music, writing, and other forms of
self expression. Because once again, we must maintain and take

(20:55):
care of ourselves, particularly our mental health during difficult times.
All of the things that I mentioned is very important.
It's very important. So whatever it is you're going through
in your life personally, or whatever it is you may

(21:16):
be feeling just by watching the news, make sure you
understand this one thing. Don't forget that there is power
and prayer. Don't forget that when you are focused, you
have the power to manifest something good. When you're focused

(21:41):
on what it's good, when you make a conscious decision
to care for yourself, you will have a positive outcome
being conscious, being mindful of what's good, being mindful of
what your focus should be. Because we all have to

(22:07):
care for our mental health during difficult times. I have
to keep saying that over and over because I want
you to remember how important it is to care for
yourself mentally during this time. A lot of people have

(22:29):
experienced all kinds of things on a personal level, on
a professional level. During the pandemic years ago, many people
experienced a lot of difficulty. A lot of us were
caught off guard because it was the first time we

(22:49):
dealt with something on that level in our lives. Most
of us have never been through a pandemic. And now,
going forward, we must understand that no matter what happens
in the coming months, in the coming days, in the
coming weeks, you have the responsibility to care for your

(23:14):
mental health. You have the responsibility to help other people,
and you also have the responsibility to stay focused so
that you can care for your mental health during difficult times. Now,
I'm not projecting that things are going to be difficult.
I am simply reminding you of these things because there's

(23:35):
a lot of things that it's going on in the news,
and we have to have a certain approach to how
we think so that we don't become filled with fear
and uncertainty. So this is why I decided to talk
about this earlier this week. As I stated, I was

(23:59):
watching the news, and as I was watching the news
and hearing about all the different things that are happening
throughout the country, I became a bit disturbed, and of
course I started thinking about the future, and I started
thinking about everything that is happening, and I just began

(24:19):
to pray. And as I began to pray, I was reminded,
stay focused, stay prayerful, take care of your mental health.
So we all can do this. We all can support
one another, we can pray for one another, and we
definitely can't keep a positive attitude. And no matter what happens,

(24:41):
God is not going to leave us. So don't forget.
If you're listening here in the US, you know exactly
what I'm talking about. And if you are someone listening
to this podcast overseas, I will only say we all

(25:01):
need to pray for the world because what can happen
in one place can definitely happen in another. So make
sure you take care of your household, your family, your children,
your friends, make sure you take care of your community,
make sure you look out for people, be kind to people,

(25:24):
help people, and make sure you stay committed to the
goals according to the plans and objectives that are set
for unity in society. Because we need one another, We
need one another. So thank you so much for taking

your mental health. I care about what people are going through,
