Speaker 1 (00:00):
Blessings and peace to you. This is s be Favorite
Thinking podcast and my name is s. B. Favor. How
are you doing today? It is Tuesday, August twenty six,
twenty twenty five. Another wonderful day and another day to
be thankful. Yes, we have to be thankful because when
(00:25):
you are thankful and when you focus on what is good,
then you can project something good to happen. So we
have to be thankful today. I was reminded this morning
to be thankful. Not that I wasn't thankful, but I
was reminded to be thankful. So make sure that you
(00:48):
focus on what is good, project something good to happen,
and make sure you are thankful today because it is important.
If you are out there traveling about on whaterever, getting
on the flight, driving, walking, exercising, at work, wherever you
are today, make sure you don't forget to pray. That's right,
(01:11):
don't forget to pray because prayer is important. And also,
if you are out and about in the public and
you are on your phone too much, try to be
careful with that because if you are on your phone
too much in the public, that means you are distracted
and you should pay attention. You should be paying attention
(01:31):
to your environment because there's a lot going on all
over and we should be more focused and not distracted.
So excuse me. If you are out in the public,
make sure you're not distracted, make sure you are paying
attention to your environment. I always remind you of these things. Yes,

dot com. Yes, so, I hope everybody is having a
(03:49):
good day, a good evening, a good morning. I hope
you are having a good day. I hope you are
very focused today. I know sometimes when you hear a
bunch of crazy things going on in the news, sometimes
it's difficult to be focused. But you can be. You
can be. You can be focused by simply just getting
(04:12):
your mind on the things that are important, keeping your mind,
keeping your mind on the things that are important. That's
what you can do. Yes, now I'm talking too fast,
But anyway, if you stay focused on what is important,
you can stay focused. You don't have to be subject
(04:35):
to an emotional roller coaster. Buy all the things that's
going on in the world. There's a lot going on,
and I normally normally don't like to talk about the news,
and I normally don't like to talk about things that
are happening, especially the bad things, because I like for
(04:58):
you all to be inspired. I like for you to
feel good and be motivated about life. But sometimes we
have to look at the negative things and we have
to we have to accept what is happening by having
an approach to it right, because we have to resolve
(05:20):
some things. We have to bring a solution to some
things right. So when it comes to our personal lives
our professional lives, we have to do what is necessary
so that we can maintain peace in our life. So
today I decided to talk about prayer. Yes, because of
(05:46):
everything that's happening in the news, specifically here in America,
and things that of course that are going on all
over the world, I decided to talk about prayer today.
Prayer is is very important in our daily life. And
I know that there are different types of belief systems.
(06:10):
Culturally around the world, there are different types of belief systems.
But I just want to talk about prayer. And I
don't want to get into what you believe and what
I believe and all that stuff, but I want to
encourage you to understand the power of prayer. I want
(06:33):
you I want to encourage you to learn about it,
and I want to encourage you to understand that it
is important. It's important, and I know it might be
somebody out there wondering, well, what do you believe has been?
For those of you that listen to this podcast regularly,
(06:55):
you know that I'm a believer in Jesus Christ. Okay,
So that sums it up. I am a believer. I'm
a believer in God. I don't debate systems and what
people should do and what they shouldn't do. I believe
that people are connected through love and love is God.
(07:18):
And I also believe that if it's meant for you
to learn something at a specific time, you will learn
it no matter what it is when it comes to
your journey in life. So I don't have to force
anybody to believe something, even an atheist. That's right. I
don't have to force an atheist to believe anything because
(07:40):
that person's journey, in that person's journey, they will believe
what is meant for them to believe in their journey.
So I don't have to force anything on anybody, and
none of us should never force someone to believe something.
But today I decided to talk about prayer because we
(08:01):
all need to remember that God is real. We need
to remember that we all need to remember that it
is important to make sure that we humble ourselves to
know that we are not the creator. He is the creator.
(08:24):
We are at the creation. God is the creator. We
are at the creation. Okay, there is as people would say,
there is someone greater than me. You know, I hear
people say that all the time. There is someone greater
than me. I always read someone that is greater than me. Well,
I don't use that. I always say I talk to
(08:47):
the Lord. I talk to God. He is God. He
is not just someone. He is God. He has a name.
But I decided to talk about prayer today because it
is important and I believe that when we take the
time to pray, we gain greater clarity about what we
(09:12):
need to do. Now, I know it might be somebody
out there thinking, oh, she's gonna talk about prayer, so
I don't really need to hear this. Well guess what,
maybe you do need to hear this, So come back listen,
keep it on, keep listening. I am not a religious person.
I am a spiritual person, you know. I just simply
(09:35):
believe that we all need God as simple as that,
just like we need water, right because if you don't
drink water, or if you don't eat food, you won't live.
That's right. So that's my strong belief. I believe that
we all need God, and I believe that we can
have access to God through prayer. And this why I
(10:02):
decided to talk about this today. So I just want
to encourage you more than anything else. I just want
to encourage you, okay, more than anything else, because, let
me tell you, last week, I had a very challenging week.
It was just not problems, but it was challenging because
(10:28):
I had a lot to do and I was just
feeling a bit overwhelmed. But in the midst of feeling overwhelmed,
I kept reminding myself to pray. Because when you pray,
when you take a moment to seek God and give
(10:49):
your concerns to him by talking about your concerns and
asking Him to help you with your concerns, then you
will see a change. Will yes, you will. You will
see a change. It may not be the way you
want it to be, but there will be some type
of change. God is sovereign and he's all powerful, and
(11:13):
so he knows what every single person needs. It can't
be our way because we can't just pray and tell
this great person God what to do, and he's supposed
to just say, Okay, I'm gonna go do it. No,
he does what's best, right, And we don't know what's
(11:35):
best for us. We think we do. We think we
know what's best, but we don't. A lot of us
walk around in pride and we think we know everything,
and we think we know what's best for ourselves and
for others. Now, we may know some things about what's
best for ourselves, but we don't know all that is
best for ourselves. Because if man knew what was best
(12:00):
for society, when you look at leaderships around the world,
why aren't they doing what is best? Hmm? Okay, So
we need to pray. So I just want to encourage you.
So I want to just remind you of some things
(12:22):
that are important so that you won't forget to pray.
And I want to remind you of some things that
happen when you pray. Okay, So when you approach the day,
getting up in the morning, that's a good time to pray,
because we should all set aside a consistent deli prayer time.
(12:46):
When we set aside a consistent daili prayer time, it
helps us to stay focused on a scheduled time to pray.
I honestly don't have a specific schedule time to pray. Well,
excuse me. I actually pray when I get up in
(13:07):
the morning, and I pray throughout the day. I pray
throughout the day whenever I feel like I need to
pray at my desk, when I'm walking, when I'm exercising,
when I'm taking a shower, when I am driving. I
pray throughout the day because I just feel like if
I pray throughout the day, I feel more at ease
(13:30):
about everything. It helps me to function. So I pray
throughout the day. Now, when I pray, I don't speak
a bunch of religious words to God, you know. I
just simply say thank you, and I say help me
to get through my work day. I may say something
(13:51):
like protect me. While I'm driving, I pray that I
get home without incident. Things like that. I pray for
my family. I pray for people throughout the day, and
so setting aside a consistent deai prayer time is really
really good. If you're one of those people and you're
(14:13):
so busy and you're not sure when you can pray,
and you're trying to get into a routine of prayer.
Set aside a consistent and deli time to pray. Make
sure you always start your prayer with gratitude. Start your
prayer with gratitude, because when you start your prayer with gratitude,
(14:34):
you will begin to think and know what God has
already done for you because you are in a position
of gratitude mentally and spiritually and from your heart. So
when you start your prayers with gratitude, you are basically
saying God, I thank you for what you have already done.
(14:57):
So that is is very important. Pray with faith expecting
God to answer yes, because faith without works is dead.
So when you pray and then you take action according
to what you pray for, I believe that God will
meet you right there in the midst as you take action.
(15:21):
A lot of people sometimes they pray about something and
they just don't take action. They just wait. Sometimes you
gotta pray, take action, and as you are taking action,
God will meet you right there. And if he doesn't
meet you there, it doesn't mean he's not going to
answer you. You know, whatever it is you're doing, he
(15:43):
will meet you there. And if he doesn't meet you there,
then you have to trust him because he knows what's best. Right,
he knows what's best. Be honest and real when you
talk to God a friend. That's how I That's how
I talked to him. I talked to him like a friend.
(16:04):
I just I'm just very honest with him. I'm very
honest about my faults and flaws and and I just
talked to him as a as a friend. Years ago,
I didn't know how to talk to him as a
friend because I was raising the church, and you know,
when you're raising a church, sometimes they teach you to
just be so afraid of God, and you know, and
(16:30):
that's unfortunately, that's what I was taught. And so as
a young woman, as I continued to grow, I learned
that I don't have to be afraid of God. He
loves me. I would look the mountains while I was
driving down the street, and I would get scared. Why
would you be afraid of God? You know? One day
(16:53):
I was so afraid, you know, I was home and
I looked at the Bible and I found this scripture.
It said perfect Love, cast out fear Now I don't
know the address to that specific scripture, but it's it
perfect love cast out fear. God is love and perfect
love cast out fear. So I said, wow, I found
this beautiful scripture, perfect love cast out fear. God is loved,
(17:16):
So God loves me perfectly. So I don't have to
be afraid. I don't have to be afraid. No, and
you don't have to be afraid because when you pray,
you will experience him as a friend, when you are
honest and when you are real, because if you're not honest,
he already knows what you're thinking. Anyway, there's another scripture
(17:38):
that says he knows your thoughts. Afar off. He's God,
Come on now, he's all sovereign, all powerful. He knows
he created you, He created your mind and your heart
and whatever it is that it's not right with you.
He knows that too. So you don't have to hide
anything from him. So be honest and real and talk
to him like a friend. You scripture in your prayers.
(18:01):
That's right. You know. You can go to Google, you
can use chat, GPT, you can use all kinds of
resources to find scripture. It's so easy. So when you pray,
use scriptures in your prayer for strength, for peace, for
harmony in your home, Pray for your children, Pray for
(18:24):
just whatever comes to your heart that concerns you, because
it's important to pray. Keep a journal when you pray,
to track requests and answers. Now that's something that I
have done for years, and I have a lot of
journals that I have totally just complete it, meaning there
(18:50):
is no more space to write. I complete I can.
I complete it all the entries on every page of
the journal, so there's nowhere else for me to write,
and I have so many of them. And that's what
I did. I kept a journal to track my request
(19:11):
and my answers. Now currently I don't journal as much
as I used to, but I do write things down
and I do keep track of a lot of things
that I pray for. So but it is it is
good to keep a journal to track your requests and
answers because you get to see what you're thinking when
(19:35):
you go back and read it. So keep a journal
and keep track of your requests and answers. Don't just
pray for yourself, but learn more than anything to pray
for others. That's right. Don't just pray for yourself, but
(20:00):
learn more than anything to pray for others, because when
you pray for others, you are taking your concerns about
that person to God. Instead of telling somebody what to
do and telling somebody what they shouldn't do, pray for them.
Instead of arguing with somebody and telling them and trying
(20:21):
to convince them, pray for them. I just totally step
back when it comes to friends, family members, my daughter.
When it comes to the things that I'm concerned about,
I do not get on the phone and tell people
what I think. No, I pray for them. I have
given people over to God and prayer because I have
(20:43):
seen results and I have more peace when I do that.
So pray for others more than yourself. Begin and in
your day with prayer always, and when I say beginning,
end your day with prayer. A lot of people think
sometimes you have to be in a certain position to pray. No,
(21:04):
you don't have to be in a certain position to pray.
You can pray wherever you are. I know certain religions.
You know you have to get on your knees and
you have to do certain things. You don't you really don't.
You could be cleaning your house and just praying. You
could be in the shower just praying. The point of
(21:24):
it all is that you open your mouth to acknowledge
the power of who God is, and as you do that,
begin to talk to Him. Now, if you are one
of those people and you want a certain structure to
how to pray, I would suggest that you find some
(21:48):
resource to resources excuse me, to learn about a structure
to pray, like what to do in the beginning, what
to do in the middle. Because some people are very
structure with a certain way they like to do things,
and there's nothing wrong with that. I used to be
like that, but now I just when I pray, of course,
(22:08):
I start with gratitude, and then I ask for forgiveness,
and then I go into what I'm concerned about, and
then I end my prayers with thanksgiving, and I use
a lot of scriptures. That's how I pray. When you pray,
you can find a quiet space to minimize distractions, of course,
(22:31):
but you don't have to be in a certain position.
And the reason why I'm saying you don't have to
be in a certain position because some people will not
pray just because they are not able to get on
their knees. If you are in an emergency situation, just
bow your head. You can bow your head anywhere. I
bound my head at a restaurant, right or if I'm
(22:54):
not walking down the street. But if I'm in a
public place and I need to pray, yes, I just
close my eyes sometimes or I pray with my eyes
open too. Yeah. Make sure you always pray through challenging
times instead of worrying, because when you worry, it doesn't
solve anything. Pray through challenging times so that you do
(23:19):
not worry. It's important to do that. As the Holy
Spirit to God, you and your prayers. And if for
those of you that may not know who the Holy
Spirit is, well, he is part of God. And I
don't want to get all into that, but and I
(23:40):
know somebody might be saying he, what do you mean?
It might be a she because see people they talk
like that. But if you want to learn more about
the Holy Spirit, open the Bible. Open the Bible. If
you want to learn more about the Holy Spirit. Because
I'm not talking about specifically the Holy Spirit right now.
I'm talking about prayer. But the Holy Spirit is it
(24:04):
is the spirit of God. The Holy Spirit Okay, all right,
So pray with persistence, don't give up too soon. What
do I mean by that? Don't have doubt. If you
pray for something and you don't see it happen right away,
just believe and trust that whatever it is you pray for,
(24:30):
it's going to happen. And as you wait, just trust God.
Just trust them, and if it doesn't happen the way
you want it to happen, it doesn't mean God didn't answer. Okay.
In twenty twenty one, when my mom was sick, I
prayed that God would do a miracle. I prayed that
(24:51):
God would keep her life. I prayed that she would
recover because she had a stroke. And I prayed that
God would supernatural touch her mind and he would touch
her spirits so that she can so that she could continue.
I'm talking too fast again. I prayed that God would
(25:12):
keep her life and continue, that she would continue to
be here on the earth right. And so let me
tell you what happened. She was in the hospital for
about oh let's see, she was in the hospital for
about ten days. And during those ten days she was
(25:34):
talking and praying and singing. But I was praying that
she would pull through. It was a miracle that she
could pray and that she could sing, because according to
the doctor, she wasn't supposed to be doing all of
that after having the type of stroke she had. But
I kept praying, God, you know, keep my mom's life,
(25:55):
heal her, help her. I kept praying all those things,
and my mom she passed. She died. Now I know
somebody might say, well, how can you say God answered
your prayers when your mom died. Well, let me tell
you something. God did what was best and he answered
my He answered he excuse me, he answered my prayers.
(26:22):
I have to slow down. He answered my prayers by
allowing my mom to go to heaven. So the question is,
did he heal her? Yes? He did. Yes, he did,
according to what I believe, according to my faith, did
(26:42):
he hear her? Yes he did. Why because she's no
longer in that broken down body that she had in
the earth, and he knew what was best, so instead
of allowing her to stay here in the earth, he
took her to heaven. So yes, he did heal her,
and now she's healed at one hundred percent. Yes, that's
(27:07):
what I believe. And if you don't understand what I'm saying,
listen to this more than once so that you can
gain clarity. I've been talking a little fast, and I
got to slow down. Of course, when I start talking
about my mom, you know, I get a little emotional sometimes,
(27:28):
and it's good to talk about her. It's good to
talk about your loved ones that have passed on, and
it's good to express whatever it is you need to express.
And it's okay to feel a little emotional when you
talk about your loved ones. But continuing on with what
I am talking about, pray with persistence and don't give up.
(27:53):
Don't think that God is not going to answer you.
Even if he doesn't answer you the way you think
he should answer you, don't think that he's not going
to answer you, because he will. There are many things
that I have prayed for over the years, and I
(28:15):
have seen so many great things happen because of some
of the things that I pray for specifically. I ask
God specifically for certain things and it happened. Well. My
daughter was a little girl. I used to pray over
her every single night, and when I look at her
(28:36):
life right now, it is everything that I have prayed for.
I'm telling you her life right now is everything that
I have prayed for. And so when I get a
little discouraged or disappointed from anything, sometimes I just start
thinking about what God has already done and that encourages
(28:58):
me again. Make sure you always include your prayer time
with thanksgiving and praise, and include worship. And for those
of you that don't understand what worship and praises, worship
and praises when you say, Lord, I just thank you
(29:19):
for this day. I thank you for all that you've done. Lord,
thank you for the flowers, thank you for the sun,
thank you for the beauty of the ocean. Lord, I
thank you hallelujah. That's praise. When you get into worship, now,
you get into you. When you get into that, you
get into a place of adoration when you just show
(29:40):
Him love and you do that by what you say,
and it's a certain flow to it. And I don't
want to get all into that deep because that's another topic.
And if you want to learn more about praise and worship,
make sure you go to some resources to learn about it.
But yes, include the those things in your prayer time.
(30:05):
Pray in alignment with God's will and not just your desires,
because a lot of us. Unfortunately, sometimes we pray all
these things and it doesn't even align what God's will.
And what is God's will? His will is what he
wills to do, It's simple as that. And what is
(30:28):
it his will is the things that are purposeful. The
things that are purposeful. You can't pray, God give me
a lot of money so I could just be a
person to look at. No, that's not God's will. You
can't ask God for somebody else's husband or wife. That's
(30:49):
not God's will. Okay, just give you an example. But
pray in alignment what God's will and not just your desires. Now,
it's not you're wrong with praying. You know about the
things that you would like to do and things you
want to accomplish. There's nothing moment with that, because God
wants wants you to accomplish many things. But when you
(31:11):
pray according to His will and purpose, it's just better.
Trust God's timing even when the answer seems delayed, because again,
God knows what's best for you. So trust God's timing
even when the answer seems delayed. You gotta trust his timing. Okay,
(31:33):
you gotta trust it. I'm gonna give you three scriptures.
The first one is Philippians four six through seven. Do
not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by
prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
The next one first Thessalonian five sixteen through eight. Rejoice, always, pray, continually,
(31:58):
give thanks in all circumstances, For this is God's will
for you in Christ Jesus. Matthew seven seven, Ask and
it will be given to you. Seeking you will find,
knock and the door will be open to you. I'm
gonna give you those scripture references once again and look
them up just to read if you will, Philippians four
(32:22):
six through seven, first Thesalonians five sixteen th eighteen, and
lastly Matthew seven seven. Read those three scriptures. So I
hope that everything I said today is something to encourage
you to pray, something to help you to stay focused
on prayer. I pray that everything that I've said today
(32:46):
will be something that you can think about so that
you can be motivated to pray. Make sure you share
this episode with someone you think needs to hear this,
because we all need to be inspired, and we all
(33:07):
need to be motivated to pray, and we all need
to stay focused during this hour. There's a lot of
things happening in the earth that are beyond our control.
And if we have hope in God, then we have
something that's greater than the problems that exist. So make
sure you pray, make sure you stay focused on what
(33:28):
it's good. And if you would like to give to
