(00:01):
You're listening to radio loud, youknow, tonight, I don't feel out
of control? Is this me?You want to get crazy because I don't

(00:24):
give her. You're listening spit Talk. Welcome to Schmidt Talk. I'm your

(00:59):
home savvy Schmidt and I want tothank you for tuning into my show.
If this is the first time thatyou've listened to my show, thank you
so much. And I'm so gladyou're here. All right, I had
a whole show recorded, okay, and it turned out my microphone was on
the wrong setting, and to makea long story short, there's a whole
bunch of audio that I can't use. So I'm literally on my phone right

(01:23):
now doing this, which is kindof funny. And you know, but
this just goes to show you thatyou can do your podcast from anywhere,
even from your phone, so youdon't really even need like a fancy studio.
And part of what I was talkingabout in the audio that I have
to scrap now is that a lotof people think that you have to have
a mixing board and all that stuffto do a show, and you don't.

(01:45):
Only if you're in like if youwant one, sure, but you
know, the slide panels. Thepots that are on the mixing boards at
radio and TV stations, those areusually just for fading sound in and out,
switching sound sources, controlling people's levels, stuff like that. So if
you're not in like a functioning Fullerstudio, you really don't need that.

(02:07):
I would recommend a good USB microphone, And uh, the one that I
really like is Yetti. It's byBlue and it has a USB port.
Just plugs right into either a PCconsole or a laptop and you can take
your microphone with you wherever you go. But again, there's so many options.

(02:28):
The thing I like usually about youknow, recording from the computer in
the microphone is that I can goand post production into my audio editing software
and I can add the you know, intro, outro, the music,
any kind of special effects I wantin post production and all that. But
you know, it's only been ahandful of times that I've recorded from the

(02:49):
Spreaker Studio app. So this isnot going to be as long of a
show as I wanted it to bebecause, like I said, I'm running
out on time. I've only gotthirty five minutes to get this pack up.
Because even though I'm recording this frommy phone. I'm going to go
into the Spreaker on the website andI'm going to retrieve this audio. I'm
gonna pull it back to post production. I'm gonna remix it back down and

(03:12):
then re upload it to Spreaker. So that's how I'm going to handle this
today. Now, if you haveany questions about podcasting, I'm a pretty
good one to ask. I've beendoing it for a while and in addition
to that, I've got tons ofreal world TV radio station experience behind my
belt. I pretty much know howit all works, and I can show
you the ins and outs and ican tell you everything that goes into it.

(03:34):
It's a lot more work than peoplethink, and I think this is
kind of what you know generates podcastburnout. And again, I'm gonna have
to do more lengthy show on thisbecause I can only touch lightly on it
because the time can straights for tonightand wanting to get the show out on
time. But basically, yeah,so it's a lot to go into it,
and again I would recommend just reachingout to me if you do have

(03:59):
questions. I've been meaning to starta Facebook group about this. I do
have a couple of Facebook groups, but they're kind of docid, they're latent.
At this point, I haven't reallybeen into them in years because I
had so many other projects going. That's another thing you don't want to do
is when you underestimate your time thatyou can donate to a podcast, you're
going to take the cut in otherparts of your life. And I really

(04:21):
just hope that it's not at theexpense of your kids, because I found
that that kind of does happen whenyou have like your back turn to your
kids. When you do a podcast, A lot of times it's not shutting
it off at the end of theday. You know, you're still having
to communicate with a lot of differentpeople, and that can be at any
time, and especially if you're anew podcaster. There's not really such a

(04:45):
thing as like, oh, I'mdone by five. I mean, you
could easily see me working twelve tofourteen hours a day when Radio Love was
in full swing, when I wasdistributing multiple programs, when I was doing
the recording, the editing, thepackaging, the promotion, the distribution and
all that stuff that's very, very, very time consuming. What I almost

(05:08):
did in twenty twenty two was starta back end operations liaison part of Radio
Love to help people with the backend operations to take some of that bulk
load off because that's gonna be sotime consuming. The recording is really the
short part, like honestly, everythingelse takes a long time. There are

(05:30):
some good like companies that you canget freelance workers like I'm not gonna mention
fiber no no no no, no, no no no. They burned me
out of thousands of dollars. Iwould go to upwork or somebody else.
And again that's a different topic.I could put on a different show,
but just a moment. So anyway, there's a lot of different options out

(05:53):
there, and everything the landscape isalways evolving. I did dabble in Riverside
FM. I really like that programbecause but it does require, at least
when I used it last year, requires both parties to install the app.
But the audio is crystal clear. There's a video option. It does have
a subscription fee, so there's that. And I don't endorse them. I

(06:15):
don't make any money off that.I just wanted to put that out there
to say that I really enjoyed them. But here I am today recording for
my phone. So again, there'smultiple multiple ways you can do your podcast,
and this could be such a biggershow. And I think that I'll
just start off by saying that thiscould be like a part one, okay,
because, like I said, justfor time constraint reasons, I'm going
to have to cap the show righthere, but I might come back later

(06:39):
and do a continuation and you know, some life updates and stuff like that,
because you know, just stuff goingon and all that. But anyway,
I do want to thank you fortuning in. I apologize this is
such a short show, but againI just really couldn't use the audio from
the other show. And anyway,I want to thank you again and I

(06:59):
love you. Hang in there, and if you have any questions or you
just want to reach out, feelfree to reach out. I'm on all
social media platforms or you can reachme at save at radio love dot com
and I look forward to hearing fromyou. Bye guys, m baio Pat
