Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome back to another edition of the Scouts on our podcast.
I'm your host, Dave del Cole, and we're pleased to
be joined today by a familiar guest to our listeners
and a new one. We've got the return of license
played guy in the new edition of Bobby Skinner, here
to chop up all things giants on this the first
day of OTA's Welcome to the show. Guys, appreciate you
both making the time, Thanks for having me on.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Man, Me and me and Joe were just talking to
what about a week ago on my show, so it's
good to see him again. And David's good to see you,
no doubt.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
It was funny. I think we'd scheduled this, finally locked
this in like the morning before your Guys show aired,
So then I saw that and I was like, shit,
all right, I gotta like listen to that, make sure
that I'm on top of it. Don't ask the exact
same questions, but a funny coincidence for sure. So let's
just start off super high level. I'm curious to know
(00:58):
from you guys what your blanket expectations are going into
this season.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
So I'll I guess I'll start I have two different
levels of expectations. They are my expectations for what the
team is and there's my what they expectations should be
for a year four GM year four GM win year
four GM and head coach. This team is entirely your team.
You've had a lot of time to build it. You've
now brought in three quarterbacks who you know, two that
(01:30):
you signed in free agency and one that you traded
up in the first round for win win or show
or show that Jackson Dart is a franchise quarterback and
not just a flash here or there. That's but in reality,
the schedule is tough and they're just I just don't
know how many teams on their schedule that they're better at.
(01:50):
And we can talk about circumstances with those other teams
and what if this what happens, but that also works
for the Giants as well. So my my hopeful expectation
is that Jackson Dart looks really damn good. That's like
my like I could that's something that can happen and
it's not fools gold like That's that's what I'm hoping.
That's what I want to see.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Okay, So I love Bobby's introduction to that except the
first year lightning in a bottle that struck for Dable
and Shane hurt them more than helped them. If it
was a terrible year, I don't think the contract would
have been offered. I think they would have gotten there
(02:33):
their quarterback right away, and I think year four would
have looked a little different for them, I really do.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
But we're here. So Bobby took you in.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Reality world, which I don't live in very Muchen when
I talk Giants football, and I don't know where Bobby
thinks he's going to see Jackson Dark become this franchise
quarterback this year other than practice, because the only time
you're going to see him is if the Giants run
into some.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Terrible best why win or win or yeah? I mean,
it's true.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
You're looking at an older quarterback in Russell Wilson who
knows how to win.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
And as soon as he was picked.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
On the Giants, the Giants already became a better team.
As soon as the Giants got Winston, they already became
a better team.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
The quarterback room already became a better quarterback room. It's
just the way it is.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
I've said this before Bobby to you a million times,
even to you, Dave, I don't give a crap who
they brought in free agency. It wasn't the Giants quarterback
of the future. Jackson dark better be the quarterback of
the future.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
So we're talking about they need to win now, which
I agree with wholeheartedly. What does that look like because
it is a difficult schedule. I feel like most fans
kind of look at it, run it down, and you'll
looking at probably five six wins, so that's more than
last year the year before that. But what's the threshold
(04:09):
of win because you also like, are we at a
point of competing or are we still in a rebuild?
Speaker 4 (04:18):
You know, that's such a great I I I mean,
come on, man, if we're not going to be a
competitive football team now with the additions that the Giants added,
I don't give a crap what your schedule is, Like,
give me a competitive team on the field, or if
you don't even have a competitive team and you're starting
to look like the years past, then then everything is
(04:41):
just everything's going to be shot up here.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Win eight games, right Like, That's where I'll kind of
grate a little bit on a curve where year four.
I think the expectations should be more than eight games,
but considering the fact that the quarterback they drafted isn't
planned to play at least early on, and it is
a very tough schedule. Okay, that's fine, win eight games,
because if if you can't win eight games in year four,
(05:05):
your regime, like just don't talk to me about don't like,
don't talk to me about schedule like that, you should
be You should be better than that, right, you should
be better than eight teams to beat them. And you,
if you have the coaching advantage, you should beat a
couple of teams that maybe you shouldn't, you know, And
so this is you know, this is the second defensive
coordinator in here, the same head coach, same offensive coordinator.
(05:28):
You've you've changed a bunch of position coaches while you're here.
So if you believe you have a coaching advantage, then
then beat beat a couple of teams that you're not
supposed to do the same way they did in twenty
twenty two showed that coaching advantage again when they weren't
predicted to win a lot of games or very any
at all that year, but they did have a lighter schedule.
So if you ask for a number where I would say, hey,
(05:49):
I don't think they should be fired. I think eight
is one where I want to be super I want
to be celebrating their their existence. But I'd be okay
with them getting another year.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah, I got I got to tell you.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
I think eight is high and I don't think they
get fired even at six.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I really don't predicting. I'm saying that's what my expectations
should be.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
No, I agree. So let's say, let's say they come
in at six. Are you are you firing them? Yes,
I say they I say they don't get fired. I
say they here again to see what Jackson dark duds
the following year.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
I might.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
I'm saying six wins should get them fired.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Ye, okay, shouldn't end would are two different things, which
makes which makes it.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
I'm sure we're.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
Gonna we're gonna hear about it a million times this year.
You know, Mara, what he said at the end of
the year and how they were already on the hot
seat before it started in this and that I think
he'll backtrack this year, obviously.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I mean it might be.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Lip service or not, but but I I think the
giants rolling in at six wins, they still don't get fired.
And going back to what you know, Dave and Bobby said,
you guys before about you know, year four and being competitive.
You know, I really don't care about the schedule. They
built up their teams. You've had four years to build
(07:04):
up the team. Go and be competitive no matter who
you put on the field, no matter who you're playing against.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Everybody has a schedule to go. Go play it.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
And we'll talk about like, you know, like their seats
definitely feel cooler than they did the day after the
season when John Maryer had a press conference, right, but
I will say this is the time of year where
everyone's seat is the coolest. You've had your draft, you've
had your free agency. So the team is every team
thinks they're fan every fan thinks they're every fan base,
the Bears or whoever. Like the team should be better
on paper, it's just how are they relative to the
(07:34):
rest of the league. And then so I feel like
this is where the seat is always cooler than what
it is, but the seat gets harder than what it
should be when you get into if you get into
a season and start losing games, where right now we
could talk about, like, let Jackson Dart play. Like most
fans right now, Joe, we all say, if Jackson Dart
shouldn't play the first two months of the season, if
(07:55):
he has a good preseason and the Giants start owing two,
we might not even need a good preseason. The majority
of people are gonna want Jackson Dart to play and
be pressuring for that to happen. So it's just I'm
I don't know how they hot or colder seats or whatever.
I'm just kind of going off of what should be
the expectation for a team that brought in a veteran
(08:17):
quarterback and a first round quarterback.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Hey, let me ask yourselfing real quick, both of you,
you're hypothetical Giants do.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Start owing three, they start calling for Dart. I mean.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
You, as a head coach, Dart is going to come
in at three.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
It start coming in as a backup.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
So you jump over Jamis to get to Dart because
they're owing three.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
And and let's see what.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
You got, Rook, We'll see how patient.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Again, that's what I don't I don't have patients like that.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yeah, that's one of my biggest what is though, Joe's
do you do you think that, I want to say,
ow and three. I think they'll they'll have enough patience
to get through, like at.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Least six weeks or whatever.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Do you think they go to James before they go
to dark if they're two and four or one and
five or whatever and the offense is just badly.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
Again, you're you're talking to someone that didn't even want
them on the team, Wilson or Winston. So so, I
don't care if one of them are both of them
are traded before September. If a team really needs a quarterback,
let's just go in with our future quarterback and see
we got No. Of course you need a veteran, but
I let Tommy beat a veteran. But anyway, No, I
(09:32):
think I think the Giants. I'm with you on the patients.
I don't have the patients. I think the Giants will
have patients. I think they will pull the trigger on
I think they're gonna have patients with Wilson, and they
won't pull the.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Trigger on Dart for a long time. I don't know
what they're gonna do. Winston.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Yeah, I think you kind of got it default to
Winston at that point, But it depends on where Dart
is development wise with the playbook right, Like, he can
look good in shorts and a T shirt in training
camp when nobody's hitting him, but throwing him out there,
how's the offensive line cohesion at that point? Have we
faced any injuries there? There are a lot of variables
(10:20):
the factor into that equation. But Winston was given a
backup quarterback contract, so there's certainly some validity in the
notion of Dart leaf rogs him, particularly if he looks
good in training camp, and the fan base is certainly
gonna want that, So I could see them doing that.
But man, wouldn't that shoot you in the face if
(10:42):
Wilson struggled and then you thrust Dart in there just
because everybody's clamoring for it, and it's too early to
thrust start in there and he struggles early and often,
and then what are you going to do? Backtrack quick
and throw Winston in there and give Dart more time?
Like that could be a situation that muddies the water
in terms of out off the seat as they're sitting in.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
I just hope they don't play dark before they think
he's actually ready, like like, that's that's where I do
I don't.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Not one's like, oh, I just trust them to get
their guy.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
Like I'm not one of them.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
But like what I do is like, don't play until
he's ready, because if you're playing when he's not ready,
then again I think your secrets are Like with thing.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
It's like, all right, what are we doing? What?
Speaker 2 (11:21):
What type of organization and frank team building are we
running here where this guy clearly wasn't ready and you
threw him out here? Why did you throw him out here?
Why did you possibly hinder his development for this? So
that's the thing is I'm not I'm not sitting here
and being like, oh, I'm gonna play see Jackson Dart.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
What I'm saying is.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
How will they deal with if it goes? How will
they deal with that situation? And I hate that this
is where we are with this team in the schedule.
And then it's not like, ah, what if we get
these easy teams, But it's just the reality is like
the next two months we're gonna be playing the what
if game about a lot of things. If you look
at the schedule, the what if usually mounts up a
(12:00):
good amount of more losses than wins.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Well and you're looking.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
At too for all, agreeing with six is gonna be
week week one?
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Win though this win week one.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
If you're talking about starting him after week six, then
you're talking about starting in week seven, which is at Denver,
and then he's at Sphilly.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
I mean that, I'm not like looking at the schedule.
I'm just kind of talking about areas of time.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Just when you think he's ready to play him, It's
as simple as that, even you know, and hey, he
may struggle and still fait. I mean, look, I hate
to use Eli as an example, but Eli was terrible
as a rookie. And I know football is different than
you have less examples of the terrible rookie season to
great quarterback success stories.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
But like it does, it does.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
It does happen.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Bobby bringing up Denver and then dark Denver Eli.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
That's year two. We got to play them year too.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
I know, I know.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
That throat a tumor will always live in all, No,
I know.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
I mean, how do you not have Russell Wilson going
back into Denver?
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Yeah, that's you can't take away as revenge game either.
I need a revenge game.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Tweet right right, exactly, all right, So then talking about
coaches on hot seats, Kafka and Bowen, who do you
think has more to prove this year? Assuming that Ka
is going to be calling the plays.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
On offense, Bowen because everyone seems to like calf go
around the NFL. So who get a job somewhere else where?
Bowen was kind of you know, down the list of
even the team that ended up hiring was a defensive coordinator.
So definitely definitely Bowen. And I will say this, I
know this episode is probably coming out like tomorrow as
(13:54):
we're recording this. Tomorrow is the second day of OTAs
in the first day, media is going to be there.
Guess what I'm like, who's calling plays? Who's calling place?
Because there's now that Kafka's actually called plays in rookie camp,
there's a chance you may call him.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
So we'll see.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Now if Jackson Dark struggles, the offensive coordinator becomes the
biggest enemy in the uh in in town.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
But I just think it's Bowen because Kafka's getting head
coaching interviews every year, where Bowen, you know, he may
have to go be a you know, an outside linebacker
coach if it doesn't go.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Well.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Here you're adding you know, Pulson, Adebo, Javon Holland, Chris.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Board, Yeah, more talent too.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Water Exactly, it's a thousand percent Bowen.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Okay, big old sun.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
Glasses, binoculars and everything else are gonna be on him
and he has to he actually has to get.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
That defense roaring to go. I mean, they they really
did a nice upgrade if you think about it.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
And and I mean.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Depending on what Banks does and yeah, Banks looks you know,
we have he had his ups and downs.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
He's like the weakest link right now if you put
the Giants defense out there, so and and and I
don't think he's bad.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
So with that said, I think Bowen is one thousand
that on that seat.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
And if Bowen shows up and the defense shows up
and they do well, then that's going to exacerbate the
issue for Kafka because if the offense isn't able to
put up points, then man, that's going to be ugly fast. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
But again, like Bowen has the pieces to have a
really good defense, Like there's really not a really good defense,
you know, like like the if you just looked at
this defensive roster and you were just looking from the
outside end and stacking up against other teams, you'd be like,
that's that should be a top ten defense right there.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
It is, and it's going to be regardless of the
of the UH. Their numbers are going to be good.
But I'm worried about what Dave just said.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Well, they're they're good with starters. I think that's where
this entire UH team is right now, and it's one
of my biggest issues with this franchise in the last
call a decade is on paper, starters look good, one
or two catastrophic injuries and it all goes to ship,
which is what happens every single fucking year. So we
(16:23):
can be optimistic now, you know, but if you lose
one of those cornerbacks, you're screwed. You lose one of
these outside linebackers, you're screwed. You lose one of your
middle linebackers, you're screwed.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
You know, that's coaching, that's coaching one on one.
Speaker 5 (16:38):
UH.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
If you want to be successful as a coach in
the NFL, at any position, you better have a decent backup.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
And I think the Giants have had depth problems for
for a while.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
YEP, couldn't agree more on that note, I think we're
all fans of the offensive line on this show, and
it's one of the areas that I feel has been
one of the weakest points of this organization. Bobby, I
know you spent a lot of time in the film
room watching these guys. We've been bubble gum duck taping
(17:14):
the free agents as backups for as long as I
can remember, and we saw how it transpired with Andrew Thomas.
I was listening to your Charlotte show earlier today and
you were talking about it where he hasn't been able
to stay healthy and everything, and that's plague us. There
isn't a ton of incredible depth. They bypassed offensive line
(17:38):
outside of Marcus Bow this year because they've signed so
many free agents. But are you guys confident in the
backups and the depth that we have on the offensive
line right now?
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Hell yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
By the way, you said we're fans of the offense,
it's the line. I think that is you. Joe had
offensive nine men. We wanted all nine draft picks to
the offensive line, and I think I mocked an offensive
tackle to the Giants for four years in a row.
It was like Jonan Williams, Andrew Thomas, Rashaun Slater, and
(18:15):
then uh then Evan Neil. I feel like I did
decent with three of the four. Unfortunately the Giants got
one of one of the one that wasn't uh.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
So I think, listen, Bobby in all kidding inside, I
think the Giants go as far as Andrew Thomas stays healthy.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Yeah, if one, but if one gets injured, that's where
Bob comes into play. Because if Jams gets injured, Greg
Van wrote and moves to center, then maybe Bo moves
to guard. We'll see if one of the tackles gets injured,
both Micah uh will hopefully.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Go in there.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Hopefully he's good enough to go in there. If not,
that means then you know that's that's some worries. So
basically Bo might be the first guy up at all
five spots if somebody gets in because Van Roten loves
the center, so if he's a backup guard and backup tackle,
so it kind of depends on both. But when they
are healthy, and I hate to win they are healthy.
Thing in the off season, but like it is a
(19:11):
good pass blocking offensive line, like I I you have two,
you have three guys on the interior who don't make
mental mistakes, which is half the battle on the interior.
And then two good pass protecting tackles and one and
one of them is a great I'm.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Gonna be really happy when Bobby's skinner one day says.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
The offensive line forget about staying healthy.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
The offensive line is good, not not putting a disclaimer,
pass blocking, not putting a disclaimer, running, just the offensive
line is good.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
When that day.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Happens, Dave, then we'll know that we are no longer
mocking the Giants offensive line.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
And then.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
The yeah, well this year, I said I'm not gonna
do it every week.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
I need I need that back.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
I told myself I'm not doing it every week this year,
but it's because it's six years a bad offensive line,
get good, and then I'll bring you back for an
every week segment.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
This is my biggest problem is every year the draft
comes and goes. Last year we didn't take any offensive
or defensive lineman. We take one offensive lineman who's a
jack of all trades. But when you've got Andrew Thomas,
who is the biggest issue when it comes to injuries,
and no solution at left tackle, which is probably the
most important position on that offensive line and what we're
(20:35):
gonna throw a fifth round rookie in there and hope
for the best, Like I think they got James Hudson
right now. Backing up, you know, it's just like, how
do we not have a better solution in place? It's
one of the things that infuriates me every offseason.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
They've drafted too in the last three years. But this
reminds me, Joe, do you want to watch the Clemson
spring game with me so we can see how Braden
Jacobs looked in his first.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Action because I want to go. I want to go
to it.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
I'm definitely Yeah. We like, that's actually something we should do.
Like I've been thinking about the weird places to do
weird live shows. Now that I can do whatever I want,
we need to do a live shows from Clemson spring
training game.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Or spring game next year.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
I will be on the plane tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
That's ship that's gonna happen. Hopefully it just becomes a starter.
We could do a regular game, but yes, spring Yeah,
you know what, I'm planning on a spring game, Clemson
spring game next year. Me and Joe are doing a
live show there.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Yeah, that's it. We planned it right now and Dave
show it's happening.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
You heard it here first. All right, that's a wrap.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Dad. You gotta you gotta be like a special co
host for that episode, mediator.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
I'll fly down to Carolina, no problem. We got to
drive down, Yeah you can. I mean, yeah, I live
in vermap Bro, so that's that's a hall and a half.
I'm basically in Canada, but I've things. So it's snowing. Yeah,
it's funny. I was joking people at work today that
like we're finally at a point where all the trees
(22:12):
have leaves on them and we just hit Memorial Day weekend.
So yeah, there there is some snow still left on
the mountains if you can believe that, which is absolutely insane.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
But yeah, no, I know.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
And the funniest thing is, like the lake is still
going to be freezing. The lake doesn't warm up until
the end of the summer. And then that's justin's how
like you go in the lake up here, Lake Champlain,
your body is numb in a matter of seconds, and
that is just something that you've got to get used
to if you want to be in the water up here.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
But uh, I'm I'm an athletic director down here.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
Part of graduating from Courtland you have to take this
outdoor education class. And part of that outdoor education class
was like going up to the mountains in you know,
in Mount Iroquois, Mount Morcy, and they had iron decks
and jumping in the water and swimming only ten feet.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
That ten feet in May felt like three hundred yards. Broye,
I know what you mean about that water. Forget it.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
The first summer was rough. Now I'm used to it
and I expected so my body's acclimated. But it's funny
because like I lived in Florida for six and a
half seven years, and my body was like acclimated to that.
And I worked for Raymond James, so I go down
there for work because they're based in Tampa. And the
first summer that I went down there, I was like, oh,
(23:33):
I can handle Florida heat, Like no problem, man, this
is gonna be easy. I've done it before. I could
not handle it at all, man, Like it beat the
shit out of me.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
But I was in the Carolinas this weekend and it
was pretty nice weather, and you get used to that
for like four or five days and then we you know,
driving back stopped to the gas station in Florida. I'm like, fuck,
I forgot about this, like it's brutal.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Forgot about worse. You haven't even hit Junie yet.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Yeah, I know, I know.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
Anyway, we digress, So Da, if you want a nine
man shirt, I think I have a few left.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
If you do, Bro, I'd love it. You know, I
love offensive linemen.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
They're still relevant and the shirts still relevant.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
I'll give you I've been I've been trying to draft
offensive lineman exclusively for the last seven eight years, and
we continue to ignore it. If you got a big
man size, I need at least a two X joe.
You normally run small sizes. Look, but yeah, no, I definitely.
I mean anything we can do to try to prop
up the desperate need for offensive linemen. And I mean,
(24:39):
the thing that I'm kind of optimistic about is a
lot of these vet free agents safe sign their contracts
roll over after this year, so they're gonna have and
since they have invested in like a lot of other positions,
there's good enough reason that they can invest heavy in
the trenches, and the same for the defensive line. Some
(24:59):
of the guys, if they're not casual Jesus uh here
in camp, then their contracts will roll off and all
that kind of stuff. But I got a lot of
hope in Jake Coubis right now, I tell you that much.
He's like the lone bright spot on the depth chart
there that you know him.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
And for a UDFA offensive lineman, the hit we're due,
that's like a position they hit on. We need one dude.
They could have.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
They could have scored a few of them this draft.
I was shocked that we didn't go after, uh, some
of these guys who were still available as ud FA's,
but they prioritize other positions.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
I gotta tell you, guys, I think that I think
that the linemen take place later in camp when they
get cut from other teams and you start adding positions.
I think that's what the Giants have done in the
in the past, and I think they will continue to
bring those guys in later. I'm only talking lineman here,
(26:01):
you know, like they'll pick and choose from other teams
who gets cut, who doesn't get cut, and shift.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Them around at whatever point.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
And I'm only talking backups too, So I mean, let's
they get lucky and hit on a free agent.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Well, the problem though, is that they have allocated too
much free agency money to these vets and they can't.
That was a problem with the draft this year. They
probably could have drafted a couple more offensive linemen, but
then they're gonna have to cut the free agent bets
that they signed, which is just a waste of money.
They've already got too many roster spots allocated to the
offensive line with these best free agents, which is where
(26:37):
they pigeonhole themselves, which eventually it rolls over next year whatever.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
But I don't know, we'll see.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
I'll keep praying for more offensive linemen. But are there well,
I guess on the offensive line front, a lot of
hate for my guy John Michael Schmidts out there with
the media, and it seems like he's getting just as
much concern as Evan Neil, which is obnoxious to me.
(27:06):
Do you guys have more concern about Evan Neil's the
guard versus John Michael Schmidz's in the center?
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (27:14):
I agree, it's not even close.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Evan Neil is like a project maybe maybe where JMS
at worse is like a low end starter in the
NFL right now. I think he's like a little bit
below average. I can like we there's always like, oh
you give up on giving up on Evan Neil is
not crazy. I think there is still some.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Is not crazy.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Not crazy.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Yeah, I don't even know who that is. I don't care,
Like I know. I look, he's an eighteen wheeler. Bro.
He's one of the biggest human beings I've ever seen
in my life. Bobby.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
He is as big as my closet with He's unbelievab
If he just stood there, it would take me a
day and have to get around him.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
But he is.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
I can't believe some of the fans out there that
are like, oh my god, he just had a great play,
a great play.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
He is. He is just I can't believe he's on
the team I have.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
But I have reasonable hope for JMS to be like
a starter what I was, what I what I thought. No,
but like if you told me that JMS at the
end of the year is the twelfth best center, like
all right, well, then you know he should be around
uh you know, unless there's like this huge center upgrade
there to be to be had. So yeah, there's now
(28:38):
is when MS goes against Vidaves, Vidave gonna put him
on a on a highlight reel. Absolutely, But when JMS
goes against like the not best nosed tackles in the NFL,
he'll have a couple of bad plays per game, which matter,
especially at the center spot. But overall he's not costing
you wins and losses. He's just not the advantage that
you're hoping for.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
Well, that that you just took the word out of
my that I was just gonna say, just doesn't give
you an advantage.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
And that right there is a problem.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Don't tell me that he's going to be you know,
okay versus the shitty, you know, defensive lineman, but the
good lineman he's going to be bad.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
That's not who I want on my team.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
And I like, like Neil, you can't play like Neil
should not ever be playing. We're JMS. Even if you upgrade,
it's going to go play for somebody else, even if that.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Him, fair know a good example of that. And I
think this is so crazy. Do you guys remember Eric Brown?
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Evan Brown, I mean Evan Brown, he's still starting in
the in the NFL. Like he's a good example of
of a lineman that he either wasn't good enough to
play here whatever, but he's still out there. Look, I
give you, I can give you twelve of them. It's
just funny that Evan Brown hit my my mind or.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Will like Will Hernandez is kind of an example of
that's a dude. He's nowhere near what we were hoping
with the second round pick.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
He's not.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
And hell well, Will Hernandez last year was his worst
year on the team, so it made sense the Giants
moved on from him. But like he is someone who's
starting in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
By the way, what did you say?
Speaker 2 (30:17):
I said, I'm going to google. Did Will Hernandez sign anywhere?
Speaker 3 (30:20):
I think he did? I think he had surgery.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Okay, well, that's gonna be a free Asian edition exactly.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
You know what, don't lamp look that up. I think
he's right now. He's he's rehabbing. But no, I don't
think he got signed.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Is that true?
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Yeah, he's a free agent. I'm looking up right now.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
He did.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
He had a season ending knee injury. Okay, well that
makes sense.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
I told you I saw the rehab and yeah, that'll
be the Giants free agent signing.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
The thing.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
I'll say, hey, would it be the last time a
cardinal guard had a season ending injury who was a
former Giant and then came back.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
From Yeah, it would not be the first time. Yeah,
I think John Michael Schmiz gets a bum wrap. Yeah,
the Vitave thing. I mean, nobody should be going one
on one with B to Bay. Like, tell me any
center in the league that's winning that battle. I don't
think it's out there. Maybe one, maybe two, but even
(31:21):
still probably not. My thing with John Michael Schmidz is
that he's had revolving doors at both guard positions his
entire career so far with the Giants, so it's hard
for him to any sad injury. Don't get me wrong,
that's a factor as well, But he's had different offensive
line coaches, so I'm hoping that there's more stability this
year with Runyon and GVR and Brisillo that I mean,
(31:47):
this is going to be the put up for shut
up here for JMS. But I'm a lot higher on him.
Sounds like you guys are as well, by comparison to
a lot of media folks who are calling for his head,
which I think is super unwarranted at this stage of
his career. All right, cool, any other position groups that
you guys are generally concerned about from a depth perspective
(32:10):
outside of the offensive.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Line, defensive tackle. You know, we just talked about on
the Charlotte Shows, like you're relying on Darius Alexander or
third round rookie. I feel like if he's not if
he's not good right away, then you're you have. You
didn't really get that much better in that room.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Yeah, I mean I think they still got Nunez Roaches
listed as a starter. Yeah, they well led better and
Roy Robertson Harris, but those aren't either. Neither of those
guys are changing. Neither of those guys are even like
neutral players. Yeah, more of the bubble gum and duct
tape in the trenches, which I mean strives me in
saying that we do this every year. You got DJ Davidson,
(32:55):
you got Jordan Riley, Elijah Chapman. Yeah, but I mean
yeah again, you know, I mean, dex is coming off
an injury. God forbid, he goes down again, We're fucked.
So it's great that they added you know, Carter as
an edge rusher. But yeah, I agree with you, Bobby.
(33:15):
The trenches here, on both sides, including the defensive line,
leave a lot to be desired for sure, Joe, what
about you got any positions you're concerned about now?
Speaker 4 (33:26):
We talked about this a couple of weeks ago. It's
a one thousand defensive line. It was defensive line at
the end of the year. It's still defensive line now.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Okay, So today's the first day OTAs tomorrow the media
has got access. Who are you guys got your eyes
on the most heading into OTAs? Anybody that you're like
really looking in terms of maybe some of the comeback
guys like Jalen Hyatt type or Tay Banks or some
(33:55):
of the rookies, Like who are you most excited to
see out there in OTAs?
Speaker 2 (34:00):
For me, it's just like it's the summer of a
first round quarterback. So it's like I'm always just I
want to see every Jackson Dark thing. Like I'll read
every Oka report to hear about Jackson Dart. I'm not
going to see him say it matters all that much
good or bad, but it's Jackson Dart. And like I
said before, who's calling the plays in the walkie talkie,
Like that's the most important thing out of tomorrow for me.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
Yeah, I'm dying to see a Deva. Dying to see
how Banks performs.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
I really am.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
I'm really looking forward to seeing the progression of THEO
Johnson and I'm paying a huge attention to that. Bobby
and I spoke about this, like dying to see who
ends up in that in that tight end room.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
So you're going to be paying attention to that.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Which quarterback is going to come out of the preseason
with the best sound by clip?
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Definitely Dark?
Speaker 2 (34:53):
Oh god, yeah, it's I think it's dark because Jamis is.
I think it's Jamis as like you get what you get.
Russ is gonna be a typical Russ and Dart's gonna
have something where it's like this kid's got it. Like,
that's definitely gonna be dark. James will be the most consistent,
but the highest, the biggest one will be Jackson Dark
where he has you know, Jordan Bly for a touchdown
(35:17):
in the third quarter of the MetLife Bowl and you know,
he comes on the locker, he comes to the sideline
and says something. You know what it's gonna be. Dabel
says something to him and he says something back, and that's.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
Gonna be I think Dart's just gonna tackle Dable and
that's what we're gonna We're gonna have that live shot.
You're literally gonna tackle him on the field, you know,
after his first touchdown pass.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
And that's what you're gonna see for the next six months.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
They should steal it from us day, Like, if Dabel's
listening to this, go give Darta that's how you fucking
do it. And then Dark said Dark. Dart says, Back, says,
that's how we fucking do it. That's that's what it's right,
something like that. Right, then we put this up and
give this to the Giants, p R send us to
Pat Handlin to send to the Giants.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
And Bobby.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
It comes out. Everybody's like, oh, Bobby, do the script. Yeah,
you know it's it's it's over written.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
It's written.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
That's a great clip, by the way, that's just playing
that this is how you do it. And then Dart
with that, No, this is how we do it.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
There we go.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
We've got so many good ideas out of the show. Dave,
me and Joe just got to talk with Dave and
Dave as like a moderator because we've got the Clemson
Live Show.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
We got this. This is a still a good spot
for us. I want to bring you guys together.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
I'll work on Brandon and getting a sideline passes.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Oh, sideline passes. We need sideline like you know, microphones
and setup. We're gonna be doing.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
The show offense comes off the field, like Brandon, how, Braanden?
How was the first series?
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (36:44):
We do the show during practice with Brandon, and then
after practice Dabbo and and Braden jump on with us. Yea,
and then and then and then Dave comes on for
the post game show.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
I'm just gonna be standing on the sideline ripping a stoke.
But Bobby, I think you should have a Microsoft surface
and sit with him on the bench and give.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
Him pointers after each drive. H I'm down for but
just keep your hip square. He's like, yeah, I know that.
I've known that for a long time.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Don't forget.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Don't forget, guys, I babysat for him.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
Oh I didn't know that really.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
If that doesn't get you sideline passes, what does exactly?
Speaker 3 (37:24):
Babysat for Braiden and Quinn? Crazy?
Speaker 2 (37:29):
What a life it is?
Speaker 1 (37:31):
It's crazy. You think he was going to be as
big as he is, bigger than Daddy.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
I will tell you that No, as big as he
is not a chance in hell.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
I think he's bigger than every player in the Giant
except for Neil. Isn't he he is?
Speaker 3 (37:46):
He is?
Speaker 4 (37:46):
Yes, Evan, Neil has him. That's what I mean about
Avenuel be so big. No, I didn't expect that. But
but Brandon was tough on on Braiden like you don't whatever,
whether it was rib shots or it was like let's
go and and I never saw those kids didn't cry Quinn.
(38:09):
Quinn was eating lamb chops at three months old, so
right off the bone.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
So those kids. I expect those kids to be monster pros.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
I really do.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
I think they're both gonna be really good.
Speaker 1 (38:20):
Speaking of kids, how long do you think Carson Showing
got uh? Carson Shane got grounded for for leaking The
Dark pick over under two weeks?
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Wait the Dark?
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Wait what we pick?
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Joe?
Speaker 1 (38:37):
Joe's son posted something I'm fucking yeah about dart like
the morning of the first round, and it turned into
this whole hulla below. Because I.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Got another one. Who's the better QB Carson Shane or
Walker Snee.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
I think Walker.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
I think Walker's got him. Walker's at the Natural Eyes
he's got. I think he's got a little stronger army.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
That's actually it's funny you say that, you better, you
better keep keep an eye on on that. And you
know what, I'm gonna add one to you, even though
it's it's he's not a giant. Add Chris Raggy's son
into the mix.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
Really.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
Yeah, Chris Raggy a huge Shoes Giant fan, Dave. Chris
Raggy is a Channel two news host here, big big Giants.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
Fan, great guy.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
His son is young and uh and and as a quarterback,
and I would keep my eye out from him now
even in elementary.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
School talk about advanced scouting. I see the wheels already
turning on Bobby. He's pulling up the fucking huddle tape
on this kid. I mean, if I mean, Chris Raggy
is one of my favorite people in the world. So
if we if the Giants able to get his son,
you know, ten years from now, Giants Nation Show is
definitely getting that.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
First interviews fifteen years.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
Fifteen years from now, so I'll be forty eight, all right, Yeah,
that's that's what I'll be more interested in access and
stuff too, so that it'll work out perfectly.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Still be younger than me. That's sad shit right there.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
I know, be long gray hair for you at that point.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
That is sad.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Ship.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
You're still gonna be going to games by then, Joe,
Hell no.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
Jo, No, Joe will be talking about how you know
he'd be like, you know, Braden, Jacob's son will be
like committing to Florida and like I used to babysit
his dad.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
I used to baby said his dad when I used
to go.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
You know what this is.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
This is my twenty fifth year, Dave, every game. I
didn't set out to do more than a couple of years.
I don't know how much longer I'll do it. But
it's been great. I mean everybody's like, oh, how could
you do it? It's been ten suck years.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (40:47):
Well, my first year of doing every game I went through.
They went through Super Bowl, they lost, but they win,
and then not soon after I got to see two
two more and then it's been it's been bad football.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
But uh, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
I'll be giving it up shortly. Maybe maybe let the
Giants go on some kind of a run and then,
but who knows.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
I think that's gonna get you sucked back in. That's
gonna if they go on a run.
Speaker 4 (41:16):
A really good point, but I can't. You're like, damned
if you do, and damned if you don't. If you
walk away when they suck, you're such a soft fan.
If you walk away when they're good, It's like, how.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
Could you do that?
Speaker 2 (41:25):
I'll be honest, I don't think anyone can call you
a soft fan, Like, no matter what you did. Yeah,
you could wear you could wear a Jets hat, and
I don't think people would would would go that far.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
Well maybe maybe maybe that other site we were talking
about would, but that's it.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
Yeah, the trolls will always find something they pick.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
That's the damn share.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
That's so true. So back on the bandwagon here, since
we only got like ten minutes left or so, Bobby,
you've been watching a lot of Film Breakdown. I've been
seeing all that you've been posting. Who's your favorite prospect
(42:06):
that you've watched that they either drafted or signed through
undrafted free agency, and who's one that you're kind of like,
there's gonna be a pretty steep learning curve with this guy.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
I mean, bo was like one of my favorite picks
just because I couldn't believe they got him in the
fifth rounds one who I thought was like in play
with the third round pick, so Bo would probably be that.
I obviously have worries about him, but I just think
he's so smart and talented that he'll figure out some
at some level in the NFL. And I'll say, Fiddoni
(42:41):
from the tight end from Nebraska, I just don't see
his path because like there's competition for the third tight
end on this team. You know that they're going to
keep him at Chris Manhertz, and I just don't think
he wins that. So probably Fidoni. They've never they haven't
cut a single one of their draft picks yet on
fifty three, so I wonder if by year four they're
(43:03):
finally comfortable with having won when the n two seventh
round picks.
Speaker 4 (43:07):
Yeah for Doti for Doti was my answer, Boby, just
because of how highly talented he was coming out of
high school. He was like one of the number one
sought after then he had I don't know, I think
he blew out his knee.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
Yeah twice, the same knees twice.
Speaker 4 (43:24):
Why so, so that you know, Dave, your question leads
right to that, like such an unbelievable athlete, but like, ooh,
two blown knees, you know, same knee, What do he
get out of him?
Speaker 3 (43:37):
So that was my answer when when you were thinking
about it.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
Yeah, and I mean, look, he blew out the knees
a bit ago. It's not like it was like last
year of the year before that, so he's had time
to heal and he's been going fine there. I wasn't
like throw up the Yeah, I don't think he's going
to have like a long career. I mean, I hope
he proves me wrong and everything like that, but yeah,
if he's sticking on the roster, I mean, what are
we keeping four tight ends on this roster you got?
Speaker 3 (44:00):
I told you, I.
Speaker 4 (44:01):
Told you I'm really I'm keeping I'm keeping an eye
on this. I really am Bobby Dicks up crazy. But
I think man Hurts is the odd men out even
though he just got signed.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Well, I'm if Manners is out, I'm fine with that.
That's just my thing is what happens with Bellinger because
he's he's now in line for the Joe Shane pay cut, Yep,
will he take it? Does he make it?
Speaker 3 (44:23):
Like?
Speaker 1 (44:24):
What what happens with that?
Speaker 4 (44:26):
I'm waiting for Shane to tell him, don't you know,
don't pay next month's when and see what happens after that.
Speaker 1 (44:36):
That was funny last year. Now, yeah it wasn't.
Speaker 3 (44:43):
I think belly Is is trusted and uh, I think
I think he Those are your four. I'm telling you,
I'm looking forward to watching it.
Speaker 1 (44:55):
That that back, you could always put one of these
offensive linemen in as a tight end to block if
you needed to. So I could understand Evan Neil. Convert
him the tight end. He's probably gonna play better there
than guard.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
You know, when I first started playing football in ninth
grade my first year, I went, you know, played JV
and so you know, I played Madden and played in
the backyard and thought I could catch the ball. Went
to went to my coach and I was like, you know,
on goal line, like I can play tight end, you
can throw me the ball up, and he just like, yeah,
won't you just fucking worry about blocking? And then that
was that was That was where my goals of ever
(45:33):
touching the football on purpose ever went. They just went
away with that conversation.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
You probably should have gone the stick me in a
running back and I'll pound it.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
In more than the next year on JV they were
beating some teams ass and they started handing the ball
off for the offensive lineman. I was pissed that we
didn't get to do that.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
There you go, all right, So we're rounding things out
here week one against the Commanders. At least it's not
the Cowboys. Thank god, it's not the Cowboys. But isn't
scarier than the Cowboys? What we rather have the Cowboys?
(46:14):
I'd rather play the Commanders. I don't think they're They're
less talented, and I understand they have Jaden, but the
Cowboys have a pretty damn quarterback, pretty damn good quarterback
and Deck and if you're saying, well, you know the player,
like again, I'm a harsh critical of Deck when it
comes to the playoffs, but he hasn't lost the Giants
since his rookie season, and you know they don't have
(46:34):
a Micah Parsons on that team. I just think that,
like I think the Commanders are not talented at all
on defense, and the Giants do have some talent on
their defense. Like I think besides quarterback, the Giants roster
like stacks up fairly well. It's just about coaching and
quarterback being the most important thing, So I know they
(46:57):
shouldn't be favored against either, but I believe leave in
the Giants chances against the Commanders more so than the
large majority of the team's on their schedule.
Speaker 4 (47:06):
I don't think the Giants are gonna be favorite at
all throughout the year, Bobby, no matter what and who
they play.
Speaker 3 (47:12):
But yeah, I don't really care either, Dave.
Speaker 4 (47:14):
I'd rather play the Commanders as well, and I think
the Commanders they're not pretenders.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
But I also believe they're not going as far as
they did last year.
Speaker 4 (47:26):
I think they're gonna take a step back, and I'm
gonna love to see it.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
Hopefully that step back starts in week one. Yeah, you
got a hell of a start to the season, Joe
on the road to Washington, and then you gotta go
to Dallas right after that.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
Out of the way.
Speaker 4 (47:44):
I have to be honest with you. I looked at
the schedule a hundred times. It falls favorably on travel
with one o'clock games.
Speaker 3 (47:52):
Like, yeah, I don't think. I don't think I've gotten
out of Dallas. You can't get a night flight out
of Dallas, so I haven't gotten out of Dallas in years.
Speaker 4 (48:00):
So really, I'm excited when it comes to that type
of stuff. You know, I always have a pretty good
relationship with my my superintendent, my principal. They know that
I was trying to get back. I don't see myself
missing a lot of work this year, but I let
them know that the following year, watch out.
Speaker 3 (48:18):
Because I think the Giant's going to be improved.
Speaker 4 (48:21):
They're gonna have some some night games away, and I
think they're gonna be playing in Berlin next year.
Speaker 1 (48:26):
So you heard it from.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
Nice year here first, I'm gonna remember that.
Speaker 4 (48:31):
I know you well, Bobby's good with bringing up the
quote later seriously, but yeah, I think they're I think
the Giants are playing in Berlin next year.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
I think Week seventeen this year in Vegas, you might
not make it back on that.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
First flight, so I gotta tell you it's uh, it's
Christmas vacation, No problem, buddy.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
Nice Nice just spent a couple of days out there.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
Man, have a good time, all right. Cool, Well, that
was a fun show. I appreciate you guys making the time.
We got like a couple of minutes left here, so
I wanted to give you guys.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
I mean, yeah, Bobby's a Nets fan.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
You guys gotta believe it's definitely not over. You're definitely
not gonna lose this series. Definitely not gonna regret naming
the streets after players who didn't make it to the
NBA finals.
Speaker 3 (49:22):
He's such a dick.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
I love to drive you.
Speaker 4 (49:29):
I will not understand the Nicks in six suck by
Dick Nick sin that can. That's a chant that New
Yorkers are chanting after that win. Like, it's just not
it's just not that that won't end well when you
do that, it won't well.
Speaker 1 (49:44):
We celebrated a bit too hard after the Celtics series.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
Let's uh, you.
Speaker 4 (49:49):
Guys want to hear something crazy, and and I'm older
than you guys, but look, I've been to countless World
Series games. I've been to all the Super Bowl, Giant
Super Bowls. I've been nothing compared to me that the
ninety four Cup the loudest stadium I've ever been in
my entire life. I couldn't even hear the national anthem.
Johnny Morante was the greatest thing ever. With all that said,
(50:12):
New York will always be a basketball town. And if
the Knicks somehow get back into the championship or even
win it.
Speaker 3 (50:21):
And I don't think anybody's getting by that other series.
Speaker 4 (50:24):
But if they do, I mean the New York will
burn down, Like it will burn down, the Island of
New York will sink.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
Well, yeah, it's the only one that's like in the
in the middle of the city too. It's in Manhattan.
Speaker 3 (50:36):
Yeah. Basketball, And as again.
Speaker 2 (50:39):
As much as I'm a Nets fan, it's they don't
have any competition for fan base like the Rangers, the
Devils have a real fan base, the Islanders have a
real fan base. The Jets and Mets have a real
fan base, where the Nets are very limited. It's like
it's the New Jersey leftovers.
Speaker 4 (50:57):
And I think the move I think it was the
bread them to the ISA Center is on whatever it
was that all the way to Brooklyn.
Speaker 3 (51:04):
I think that had a lot to do with it,
a lot.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
To sure, But we still, even in New Jersey, we
didn't have like we they We had the least competition
for the New York market after for sports.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
I agree with that. I agree, Oh yeah, no, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
I like the Nets. When I was growing up a
lines arena we used to go to the game's mild
man's of Villanova. Guy carry kittles, you know. So yeah, No,
I mean Keith van Horn and Kenya Martin. I mean
those were the days, don't get me wrong. Well, yeah,
when they moved to Brooklyn, I was furious with the Nets,
completely disowned them.
Speaker 4 (51:37):
Me too.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
And then when they got Kevin Durant and Kyrie is like, Okay,
we would have never done this in New Jersey. And
then I hate those guys more than anywhere, So I
wish stayed in New Jersey, right, Yeah, yeah, that's funny.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
I you know, you guys just talked about old school.
Speaker 4 (51:52):
Like I met Joe Morris, who was my first meet
real meat through Otis hed Song.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
I don't know who Otis bird Song. That's a hell
of a name, but I don't know who the fuck
Otis bird Song. You.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Oh yeah, Otis bird Song. I I think you baby
said his kid too, Right.
Speaker 3 (52:12):
That's how it shot, That's that's how it started.
Speaker 4 (52:15):
He told me that I was fifteen years old babysitting
for Otis bird So it's kids. He was a New
York he was a he was a New Jersey Net.
You know, he's play Otis bird Song. Albert king Buck Williams.
It was that era and and I can't I was
he came home from a game and I'm there and
he's like, hey, do you know who's moving next door
(52:36):
to my house?
Speaker 3 (52:37):
And I'm like who, and he's like Joe Morris.
Speaker 4 (52:40):
I think, I like ran over the engine, knocked on
his door right away, and we've been friends ever since.
Speaker 1 (52:45):
Which is really weird.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
That's true story.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
So so Bobby, I should have been a New Jersey
Nets fan.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
Damn sounds like it.
Speaker 2 (52:54):
The you're not missing out much, Dave, Thank you so much,
my brother.
Speaker 1 (53:00):
Yeah, no, no, I appreciate you guys. Plug plug your
ship real quick. Before we have.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
My name is at licensed plate guy. You follow me
on all socials over there, and.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
I used to have short hair.
Speaker 4 (53:15):
I grew it out and uh and uh follow me
for all the offensive line breakdowns.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
There we go.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
Sweet, Well that's a good spot.
Speaker 3 (53:24):
Like hell, sweet, I love it.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
You know, I love that this show has.
Speaker 5 (53:29):
Gotten completely off the rails because this is like way past.
Whenever I do shows, I'm like a seasonal drafting. We're
a fucking month after the draft and we finally put
this together. So the fact that we've been fucking around.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
Is is great. I've enjoyed it.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
Uh, David's gonna put it out there.
Speaker 4 (53:44):
Bobby Skinner loves offensive lineman, lights of plate Guy is
a human babysitter.
Speaker 1 (53:50):
I'm putting that we converted Bobby Skinner to a Knicks.
Speaker 2 (53:53):
Fan on the show, and.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
That is the ultimate clickbait.
Speaker 2 (53:57):
Now, people are gonna be actually, you know what, they
won't be, man, you know what I said, But that
is ultimate colickbait. We'll see. Thanks, thank you guys.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
Yeah, no, I appreciate you guys coming on, appreciate our listeners.
We'll catch you guys next year when I get back
in the saddle. All this but go next.
Speaker 3 (54:15):
Let's go
