Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome to the latest episode of the Shaw
Local Bears Insider podcast. I Am Chicago Bears be reporter
Michael Duojik here with the Northwest Heralds Joe aguilar As.
We are joining you guys on Monday afternoon. It is
a lunchtime live stream.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
We've got some fix stuff to talk about.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
After another thrilling Bears win thirty one to twenty eight
against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Joe, the Bears found another.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Way to win this time.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
It seems like with a depleted defense that you know,
you're getting a lot of production from guys that we
probably didn't think we're gonna get a lot of production from.
But at the end of the day, the Bears defense
holds strong, Caleb Williams and the offense puts up thirty
one points and the Bears are eight and three entering
their Big Black Friday.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Crazy again, right, the Cardiac Bears deliver again. Didn't need
a last second field goal, didn't need a field goal
game again. And like a lot of people, I'm probably
been learning how to pronounce the name amen Ogbond Bamiga
if I got it right.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
By it's pretty good. I like that.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
That's pretty good mouthful. But he was a good story yesterday.
So it was DeMarco Jackson as it turned out. It's
funny because by the way you you called it again,
you said your surprised prediction will be that Aaron Rodgers
would not play. Uh, I'm sure enough. They announced it
about ninety minutes before kickoff that he wasn't gonna play,

(01:34):
which was too bad. And you know, it's one of
those games where you look and say, well, if Aaron
Rodgers is playing, the Steelers probably win that game. But
then again, if the Bears didn't have two dozen injuries
on defense, uh, maybe they win the game anyway. So
you know, as Ben Johnson has said, you never apologize

(01:54):
for a victory, and the Bears just again, they even
when they don't look good in the fourth quarter, sometimes
they figure out how to win the game.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah. I mean, at this point, any any team can
play the what if game, right, like if they have
this star person back, Like every team is injured at
this point. Every team is dealing with critical injuries at
different points of the season. So yeah, I mean, I
think at this point I feel like we've gotten to
the point where Joe, I feel like listen.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Like I don't.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
At this point, I'm kind of the mindset of like,
this team is aid and three, Like does it look
perfect every single week?

Speaker 2 (02:26):
No, obviously it doesn't.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
You can nitpick on them, but I mean at this point,
they're eight and three, they're the number three seed in
the playoffs. I don't think either one of us, no
matter how I don't think any Bear fan, no matter
how optimistic they were heading into the season with Caleb
Johnson and Ben Johnson or Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson,
where could have envisioned that this team would be eight
and three heading into this matchup against the Eagles. So
you know, I I've kind of the mindset now where

(02:51):
it's kind of like, all right, Like it doesn't have
to look pretty.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
That's just life in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
But the Bears are continuously just finding ways to win
games that they're supposed to win, right Like they beat
the Giants, which we are supposed to do. They beat
the Vikings, they beat the Steelers. Those are games that
I think you and I both agreed were games that
we felt that they should win. Did it looked the
way we expected it to know, but at this point,
I don't think it really matters. At this point, you're

(03:16):
just trying to file away to win. And that's kind
of emphasizing what Ben Johnson if Caleb said, you know,
on Sunday after the game, like they're not going to
apologize for a win. Like you said, it's hard to
win in this NFL. You saw obviously with with the
Cowboys and the Eagles. You know, anything can happen every
single week, and I think it's just impressive to see
that this Bears team just continuously, no matter what it

(03:38):
deals with, continues to find ways to win.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah. I mean, and if you look around the league,
all thirty two teams have issues. Maybe not the Rams
or the Patriots because they seem to be looking really good,
maybe a couple of other exceptions, but every team seems
to have problems every week or struggles. So yeah, it's
not to be too but it's a long season. It's

(04:02):
a marathon, not a sprint kind of thing. And if again,
if we're gonna go by you are what your record
says it is, Well, the Bears are eight and three,
so they're figuring it out every week and who knows.
Maybe they'll they'll they'll just soar past the magical ten
win mark. Not to get too far ahead, but we'll
get to that at some point later or not later

(04:22):
in the week, later in the next couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, Robert chiming in. Great to hear from you, Robert.
That game shielded for me that we've got our hands
on an.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Incredible head coach.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
And I've kind of said I kind of said that.
I can't remember whether it was the last week or
two weeks ago, but this if there's anything that I've
learned about this Bears team this season, is that they
got the head coach right, Like I don't I think,
you know, you can make the argument obviously that Mike
Frabel is also a very great coach, but it could.
It's the very situation where there were two great coaches
available for hiring, right and the Bears got.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
One of them.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
And you know what you can go go on about,
which you know what, Mike Rable had the same amount
of success and all that kind of stuff. It doesn't
really matter at this point. Ben Johnson's here and he's
shown you that he's not only an offensive mastermind, he's
not only a great play caller, but he's able to
bring the most.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Out of his team.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
You know, he talked earlier on Monday today about how,
you know, the veterans have really helped this culture and
bought into a system. But you know it's just for
for the most part outside of like Grady Jared, like,
it's the same same veterans from last year's team that
you know went five and twelve, right, so there has
to be something different here. I'm sure you know he
does give credit to the veterans buying in. That's usually

(05:30):
how it kind of starts, like it takes those veterans
to buy in to a new head coach, to buy
into what he's selling. But I agree with Robert, it's
kind of what I've kind of thought a couple of
weeks ago, where I don't think if it's like a
prisoner of the moment thing. I do think that this
won't be like a mad naggy thing, a Brian Dable
thing where I think in the year or two, you know,
will they have won a Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
I can I'm not going to go that far. I
promise see that.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
But I do think that we aren't going to have
the same conversation about our head about the Bears head coach,
where we're like it was a one year fluke. Everyone
caught up to him, and this whole kind of you know,
good better best thing kind of got staled quickly.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Yeah, and I you know, you look, even go back
to the preseason. We've been saying it really since then.
You're not seeing the bonehead, boneheaded coaching mistakes, you know,
mismanagement of the clock at the end of the half,
whether it's the first half or the end of the game.
We're not seeing a timeouts burned after a timeout or
a stoppage, you know, a TV timeout or something. We're

(06:30):
not seeing any of that. We're not We're not seeing
a team that's underachieving. So I mean, you look at
this roster, and again I kind of started a little
bit last week like with the way too early Pro
Bowl team. Who's gonna make the Pro Bowl? I don't
know if the Bear's gonna have a ton of guys.
I mean, there's not like a ton of guys who
are just stat freaks other than the you know, the

(06:51):
you know, the secondary you know, Bayered and Edmonds and
now he's out, you know, with the picks but other
than that, you know, so, I mean, you're getting the
most out of this team. And I again, like you said,
every team's banged up come this far in the season,
come Thanksgiving. But the Bears are had so many injuries
on defense it's just silly amount. And that they are

(07:13):
where they are is because of the coaching staff. And
even offense, we're not saying, you know, we're seeing a
creative offensive play. We've talked about the quarterback how you know,
he's been inconsistent, and so they're doing that all while
the quarterback is still figuring things out. He's obviously, like
any team's gonna be your most important player.

Speaker 1 (07:33):

Speaker 2 (08:11):
All right, let's get things started, to hear Joe.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Every game day, after a game, we like to do
our three winners, our three losers, things that worked well,
things that didn't work well. I'll let you start here, Joe.
Since it's a win, let's start off with your number
one winner from Sunday's win against the Steelers.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Well, I don't know if he was the biggest winner
from yesterday, but I didn't mention him in my story
last night. You know how it is, you're trying to
finish it before the game ends kind of thing. But
I'm gonna give a little shout out to Ozzie Trapillo again.
It was he the biggest factor in the game yesterday. No,
but for a guy who got a start when we
didn't think he'd be playing, because you know, theo Bennett

(08:48):
had pretty much secured the left tackle job for now anyway.
But Ozzie came in and the best thing about us
yesterday was we didn't hear his name called right. No
false starts, no holding. I think he allowed one pressure
For a guy who was they said, well, he's probably
better at right tackle and he's not a left tackle.
He had to play left tackle yesterday and he was

(09:10):
not noticeable, which is always the probably the best compliment
you can give to an offensive lineman unless he's pancaking
guys all day. He wasn't doing any that, but for
playing left tackle, the most important position on the offensive line,
kudos to him. And you know that's a team Pittsburgh
that you know. I was scared about their blitzing and

(09:31):
the future Hall of famers showed why he is going
to the Hall of Fame. TJ. Watt when he Raggeddalve
Caleb on that one player that resulted in a touchdown.
But Ozzie Trapillo, good job. The only play against Friday
against Philly. If Theo's ready, I don't know, but that
was a nice performance from a guy. And thank goodness,
we're not talking today about oh my gosh, the left

(09:52):
tackle kept getting blown up yesterday and that's why they
lost the game.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Yeah, I agree, you know, theo Benett had that quaditarya,
I was a little you know, I don't feel like
we talked about it too much on Friday, just obviously
we didn't know what the game status of it was.
But when he was listened as questionable, I was kind
of like, all right, like, maybe Ozzie does get his
first career start.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
And I agree with what you said.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Ozzie stepped in and you barely noticed him, which is
a complete, uh, you know, a great compliment to him.
He uh, you know, he earned his first career start.
He allowed only one pressure in the game or in
one quarterback hurry, and according to Pro Football Focus, he
had eighth highest pass blocking great amongst all offensive linemen.

(10:33):
And obviously we still need to play one more game
tonight on Monday night, but he grated out an eighty
four point six. That's exactly what you wanted to see.
That's what you wanted to see from your second round pick.
And that's kind of what we didn't see early on.
Right obviously in training camp when he was kind of
getting handled pretty easily, and then the Bear saw that

(10:53):
they had to move him over. So, you know, I
you got to give Ozzie a lot of credit for
how he hand everything. You know, from he's a leader
in the left tackle competition too. He's falling behind, and
then he's thrown to the backup right tackle spot, and
then he has to go in at right tackle when
Darnell Wright gets injured against the Cowboys, and then you know,
he's back at the left side when THEO gets injured

(11:14):
like that gives up. That's just a lot of credit
to the rookie for being prepared for whatever like he's
going to have to face. And you know, we can
get into the old argument about you know, do you
keep you know, do you keep Ozzy there? I think
the Bears at this point will probably stick with THEO
because you know, I I know THEO. I know obviously

(11:36):
he has a lot to be desired pass blocking wise,
I think run blocking wise, he's done really well right now.
But listen, I wouldn't be surprised if this is a
glimpse of the Bears future offensive line for next season
where Ozzy has an entire offseason to work.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
At the left tackle spot.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
You put him there at left tackle, you obviously have
the rest of the guys who are doing great right now.
So you know, we'll see what it looks like. I would,
we'll see how the kind of looks like coming in
coming back from a short week. But you have to
be really encouraged by what you saw for from Ozzie Trapelo,
not only just for Sunday and for the season, but
what it could potentially mean for the rest of his
career or in the next couple of years here at

(12:13):
least with this offensive line.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Yeah, yeah, I yeah, totally one hundred percent. And you know, again,
he looks the part. I'm right. He six he's like
almost six', Nine, Michael it's. HUGE i, mean SO i
hope it works out because, otherwise As i've mentioned before
on one of our podcasts going back a couple few
few weeks here is that you can't you can't miss

(12:40):
this pick. Here you can't miss this second round pick
where you don't draft a guy in the second round
to be a backup right. Tackle and and if your
other right tackle who's playing really good, now now we're
really Gonna Darnel rice having the best year of his young. Career,
uh if he solidified at RIGHT, tacko then what what
you would you do here With? Ozzy did you did

(13:00):
you blow this pick if you can't play left tackle
like you thought he could at the beginning of the.
Season so maybe the narrative is changing. Here not to
get too carried away with one, game but certainly that
was encouraging if nothing, Else AND i think that kid
probably needed it, too BECAUSE i don't know what he's, thinking,
right you, know like where AM i on this? Team

(13:22):
like what's my? Role IF i If i'm not gonna
be a left, Tackle i'm not, gonna you, know Push
darnell right out of a. Job so it was. Encouraging
we'll take it and move.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Forward i'll pick it back off Of assie for for
my first, like And i'll go with the whole offensive.
Line Caleb caleb was only had only one quarterback hit
against him. ONCE i thought The steelers actually did a
really good job of Containing. Caleb they didn't really let him,
run you, know obviously they MADE i Think Mike tomlin

(13:54):
made it a point where he was kind of, Like
i'm not gonna let him beat us with his, Legs
like he's gonna have to beat us with his arms
and the strip like like stripsack, that like you, mentioned
and we'll Talk i'm we're definitely going to talk about
that later in the. Podcast but that strip sack was
not the offensive line's. Fault, sure they've got some pressure On,
caleb But keayler sh should have thrown that. Ball, wait
there's no reason for him to add all hold on

(14:15):
to that ball and try to make a play at.
That but, listen this offensive line has just become one
of the best in the whole.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
League and you saw that once Again.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Chicago you, know The bears had the third highest pass
blocking grade according TO, pff at a seventy one point.
Nine they have the fifth highest run blocking, grade which
is a seventy five point. Seven caleb has all the
time in the world to throw and now it's you,
know it's something That bears fans have been looking for, forever,
Right Like Justin fields can't develop because he's on the.

(14:44):
Run Mitch trubisky can't develop because he's on the. Run
Jay cuddler's being sacked the entire like this has been
a long time offense, struggle right and The, Bears, NOW
i you, KNOW i don't think it's dramatic to say
that The bears have one of the best offensive lines
in THE. Nfl the way that this group has. Gelled
and you, Know i'm sure at the beginning of the,
year you AND i kind of gave, some you, know

(15:05):
some context of, like, well you've got three new guys in,
there and they're dealing with the new coaching. Staff it's
not gonna look perfect the first four weeks of the, season,
Right BUT i really think since that bye, week this
group has really figured it. Out the run black blocking
has been. Phenomenal it's led to great, performances and the
pass blocking has been really solid as.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Well so.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
That's THAT i feel like we haven't talked about it too. Much,
obviously there have been other stuff going on in these dramatic,
wins but this offensive, Line joe has taken an astronomical
leap this year to becoming one of the best in
the ENTIRE.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Nfl well, SAID i this might be the most. Surprising
it's gotta be the most surprising aspect of this football
team this. Year like you, SAID i, mean going back To,
cutler To, trubisky To Justin, fields To caleb lasheralf the
sacks he. Took what a. Wreck we can't figure this offensive.
Line one guy goes, down and then we got to
throw In Ryan baits or some other, guy and then

(16:01):
that guy can't play or he gets, hurt and it's
just a constant. Mess you. Know Tevin, jenkins for all
the potential in the, world just could not stay on
the field every. Week it seemed like about you And
sean were talking about it at nauseum last year about
the offensive, line and this year he, said since the bye,
week they have figured it. Out knock on, wood they've been.

(16:23):
Healthy but even That Jonah jackson goes out a little bit.
Yesterday remember he was shaking at the beginning of the
year a little bit with false starts and all. That
and Then Luke newman comes in And, luke you don't
even miss a. Beat AND i think it was one
of the. Players maybe it Was Tomarco. Jackson you talked
to him after the game. Yesterday maybe it was talking
about organizational depth or just about how this coaching staff

(16:45):
has done a good job of getting all the second string,
guys the third string guys prepared to play every. Week
AND i don't think that's. CLICHE i think the proof
here is in the. Pudding the proof is with the
results on the. Field you look at THE Jv bearsden,
yesterday AND i know they were playing A jv quarterback
basically In Mason, rudolph but the way they held up

(17:06):
even the offensive, LINE i mean you look at you,
know some of the special teams guys they go on
and you're worried about the running back position because you
don't think you got a number one. Guy monong guy
has proven to be really, good better THAN i thought
he would. Be kudos to him for the year he's
put together for a seventh round. Pick so all of that.
Matters in the offensive, Line it's like you don't let's,

(17:29):
say knock on what, again a guy goes? Out you
got depth What The bears never have had depth on
the offensive line because either they haven't been good or
the guys can't stay. Healthy but the offensive, line just
say they're one of the best offensive lines of. FOOTBALL
i don't think that's an. EXAGGERATION i mean that's and

(17:50):
if you look at all the, stats AND i you,
KNOW i can't break down all the metrics they use
for old. LINEMAN i probably couldn't understand it anyway IF i.
Tried but they are Given caleb all the time in
the world to throw really all, season and the run
game has been much better than anyone's anticipated all.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Season it's exactly what you look for because obviously the
season has Been caleb, Right, like do you what do
you have In?

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Caleb is he able to be the?

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Quarterback and he's gotten the opportunity to do that this?

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Season.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Right he hasn't been, pressured he hasn't been sacked sixty
eight times like he was last. Year this year like a,
most if not, all of What caleb does is because Of.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Caleb he's getting the.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Protection, sure he's getting some drops or whatever from time
to time and that kind of, Stuff BUT I Ben
jonson is getting a good look into Who Caleb williams
is as a, quarterback and a big part of that
is because the offensive line is keeping him up right
and giving him plenty of. Protection all, Right, joe who
is your second winner from yesterday's?

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Win, Well i'll go With Montes. Sweat he was MY
mvb two weeks. Ago it didn't pan Out DeAndre swift
who's been so, good and then yesterday he did nothing
fumbled like what what? Happened But Montese, sweat, right is
an obvious, One, uh finally got that two sack game
should have had a. Third we Let Mason ruoff escape

(19:10):
that one play in the third quarter maybe was the
fourth uh where he tried to throw him to the.
Ground he had him And montes only finishes the play,
there but he didn't on that that. Time but that
SET i mean the trifecta right with the the the,
sack force fumble and the fumble recovery on the one
play which was absolutely. HUGE i think that led to

(19:31):
the guy. TOUCHDOWN i, believe, yeah, Right but But, montes
that's a game because you, KNOW i watch other football, Games,
michael AND i see when teams are able to get
to the, quarterback there's always the, guys you, know penetrating the,
guards the center up the, middle getting the getting to
rush's getting none of that their interior. GUYS i mean

(19:55):
there's no rush, come there's no pressure coming from inside
the guard for the oppollet when you're watching The bears.
Defense So montes, again he's just he's not getting really any.
Help but his plays, YESTERDAY i, mean you see How
look we know this as football, fans we know how
big sacks can impact the. Game AND i know some
Decordators we'll say it's not necessarily a, sack it's getting

(20:17):
pressure on the quarterback and he gets sacks. Matter sacks
matter in this. League negative plays for, seven, eight, ten twelve,
yards they. Matter And montese's was able to do that twice.
Yesterday AND i, mean you, KNOW i mean just how
it helps you on the field, position field, positionise but
just the energy your team gets off with the crowd
feeds off, it And montez delivered that.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Yesterday, YEAH i mean The montez has been on a
tear here since the week bye. Weekend you, Know Ben
jonson kind of talked about it yesterday and he was
kind of.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
LIKE i just think he's kind of coming into his
own at this.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Point it wasn't something that they worked on over the
bye week or anything like. THAT i just think he's
it's finally clicking for. HIM i, mean you mentioned the,
stripsack he had another, sack he had three tackles for,
lost the forced.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Fumble that's how you make an impact in a. Game
it's not only.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
Just the, sacks it's the it's it's the tackles for
loss where you're meeting the guy and you're stopping him
from getting any sort of production or positive. Yardage SO
i AGREE i at this, POINT i it's it's the
lone bright, spot you, know for for This bear's pass.
RUSH i just with how injury depleted ARE. I you,

(21:25):
KNOW i shouldn't say That Grady jared had a good.
Game he had a big pass block at the line
of scrimmage toward the end of the game to kind
of help steal the. Win but the way That Montes
sweat has played this week without much support around, him
you have you have to be really encouraged by that
and what that could potentially mean here during a, playoff
a run heading into the final six games of the.

(21:46):
Season my second winner are going is going to be
a dual. One it's both The Marco jackson And i'm
in Bad. Babiga, listen you AND i were kind of,
like what are The bears going to? Do like they
if they don't and play all three of their starting offensive,
Linemen and that's what. Happened and you, Know DeMarco jackson
took over as THE. Mic he wore the green. Dot

(22:07):
it's just the second time in his career that he's
worn the green. Dot and for those of you at,
home we don't, know that's the you, know the green
dot is the helmet that has the you, know the
the headset that here's what the you, Know Dennis allen is.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Calling and you, Know DeMarco jackson.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Talked about it about how he worked throughout the week
about play, calling yelling it, out make sure he's. Communicating
he talked after the gate after practices with with you,
know the safeties and the d. Linemen they were, like,
hey did you like the WAY i was?

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Communicating? This is there SOMETHING i can?

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Do Like DeMarco jackson made the most most of his first,
opportunity his first career, start and you saw, that And
i'm intod the same. Thing you, know he was disappointed
because he thought he had earned a start with all
the different guys got out, there But Ruben hippolyte got
the weak side linebacker start as their fourth round. Rookie
and you, know Once ruben got hurt early in that,

(22:59):
game you, Know amen stepped up and he had a
lot of bunch of. Plays he was in on that
fourth downstop when The steelers tried to do this the
the tush, push he was in there With Naseean wright
to pick up the tackle and to start stop them
from picking up that first. Down so you, know For,
amen you, know he was holding back emotions and that
sort of. Stuff you, know it's been a it's been a,

(23:21):
tough you know road for. Him you, know he had
a lot of injuries this. Year he was on ON
ir he was dealing a bunch of. Injuries then he
doesn't get to. Start so for for both The marco And,
AMEN i, mean that's just kind of the reason why
you love, football, Right, like you got different guys step
up in different. Moments obviously they were going to lead
the team in tackles because that's just what the linebacker position.

(23:41):
Is but it wasn't just leading in. Tackles it was you, Know,
jackson his play, calling the way he was effectively doing
it to re lead the defense and For amen to.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Make a couple of critical tackles at that week side.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
Spot that that just speaks volumes about those guys being
ready for their moment and also the coaching stafford game
they're ready for that.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Moment, YES i you, know it's funny because in my
three and, out which is at Shaw local dot com
Our Bears, INSIDER i actually had those like three things
that didn't. Work that was one of the things that didn't, work.
Understandably but as the game, progressed you, know those guys
stuck with. It like you, SAID i, mean you, know
when you look at what The steelers were, doing a
lot of short, passes a lot of nickel and. Diming

(24:23):
they weren't throwing the ball long at, all especially after
our guy On Sean wright made another interception early in the.
Game so the tackles were there to be. Made the
defense didn't get off the field soon, enough and that's
why you had such high tackles. Numbers if you're really great, defensively,
right there's not a lot of tackles ma. Made it's
three and, out three and, out maybe a first down

(24:43):
three and. Out but that, SAID i am not TAKING
i don't want to discredit Anything jackson and Ogbog bemiga did,
yesterday because that was a great story about these two
guys getting an. Opportunity they weren't even second on the depth.
Chart they're like, third third or, Four like you, mentioned
the injuries and just these guys weren't expected to contribute

(25:05):
to AN nfl team this. Year they got an opportunity
yesterday and both guys played like professional football, players and
that's saying something because it doesn't always happen that, way
and being prepared for the, moment because that's, tough but
you could say it in any phase of, life whatever
you do for a, living, professionally be ready because that

(25:28):
guy might not be ready to go. Today oh, okay, okay,
okay well, okay it's. Today are you, ready? MAN i
don't THINK i am. Ready, well that's on. You then
these guys were ready yesterday and they didn't embarrass. Themselves
they didn't give them any bad. Plays they weren't No
ah suol how many tackles that kid missed this year
they were playing behind? Him and these guys played well.

(25:48):
YESTERDAY i didn't see any bad from. Them. Really maybe
were they? Great? No are they going to take anyone's?
Job but everyone's. Healthy if that ever gets to the
k to the point this, season no. Oh but it's
nice to know that you can play both of these
guys at key positions and you want a football, game

(26:08):
and they were part of the reason why you want
a football.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
Game, YEAH i.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Know i'm gonna hit on that in my story here
this afternoon.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
About that's also the coaching staff just getting the guys,
Ready like no matter who you, are like you mentioned,
earlier whether You're Luke, Newman Nazi, trapillo Your ama and
your Your DeMarco, jackson your Your Ruben, Hippoley like these
guys are stepping up in different scenarios and that's a
credit to the coaching staff because they're getting them ready.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Right, like, Sure i'm not trying to take anything away
from the.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Players it's up to the players to be ready to
play the, game, Right like the coaches.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Can't go out there and play.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Games but a lot of the times you do see
maybe you focus too much on the, starters and when
someone does come, in it's just, like, OH i don't
know how to put them in the best spot to
succeed Or i'm not really Like i'm not really sure
HOW i can use that. Person, well this coaching staff
does a good job where they don't just devalue what
the starters can, do but they know What, DeMarco what

(27:01):
his strains, are and where CAN i put him to.
Succeed you, know that's a big credit To Dennis allen
right to be able to do that with those. Guys
SO I i you just have to be so happy
if you're A bears fan about what this says about
the guys buying Into Ben jonson's, system but also the coaching,
staff because you know it could easily be, like, well
whate was. Me you know we're not we're. Injured we're

(27:22):
dealing with all these injuries without six defensive starters in
our secondary and are in a linebacker but in a linebacker.
Corp but that really didn't make a. Difference so that's
a big kudos to the, players but also to the.
Coaches for, me all, Right, joe final winner from yesterday's, Game,
uh for, ME a couple.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Of ways to.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Go i'll.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Go i'll go With nashawan right. AGAIN i mean that
that interception man early in the.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Game not many players can make that.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
Interception now OVER Dk, metcalf you know he's all body.
TEAM Dk metcalf and N sean go up, high get
get both feet and, bounds showing off wide receiver skills
and his fifth. INTERCEPTION i, mean this guy.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
With Kevin byron.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Unbelievable and they mentioned it a couple of times during the, broadcast, like,
boy he's gonna get paid next. Year now he's not
a one year deal with The. Bears they'll deal with that.
Later it was a long time to think about, that
but that was a big. PLAY i, mean if they
complete that early in the, game you never. Know and
then not only that Interception, michael he had another pass.
Breakup he had SOME i don't know what the, numbers

(28:30):
the final numbers. Were they had some tackles for. Loss
but he was like making plays and you can just
see almost like the confidence in this young man growing
and why wouldn't it be? Right but when when you
look at the secondary we've talked about it so, much
all the, injuries going back to, camp where was this?
Guy and you remember some stories early in preseason, like,

(28:52):
oh he's looking pretty, good you know, That and, listen
Nay Sean. Wright i'm, like come, on, guys this guy's a.
Journeyman AND i know that's you got to write about every.
Day but, like they're not gonna get anything out of this.
Guy this guy used to play a. Lot he's gonna
be totally exposed and he hasn't. Been he hasn't been
perfect this. Year i'm not saying he's playing at A
Pro bowl, level but. Unbelievable one of the best stories

(29:14):
of the year is The Sean wright.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
Here, Listen Ryan, Polls Ben.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Johnson they took a flyer On Naseean, right Like Al
harris had a history with him In. Dallas The vikings
were like not interested in keeping. Him it didn't work
out with him last year after they traded for him
in the second half of the, season and you, know
The bears are, like all, right like we'll give you a,
Shot like we've Got Jalen, Johnson we've Got Tyrek. Stevenson
you would be a good depth. Piece AND i don't
think they could have envisioned what they've gotten out Of

(29:40):
Naseean right this, year a league leading five. Interceptions him
And Kevin byrn have a bet going on now about who's,
gonna you, know beat each, other which is again another
insane thing to say that the Two bears are leading
the league in the.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Interceptions but these.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Are just plays where it's just they're not flukey. INTERCEPTIONS
i think maybe there was one interception Where Joe flackle
like threw it up and you Know naseean picked it
up at the end of That bengals game where you're
kind of, like all, right that's just a duck snort.
Interception but what he did On sunday against the AGAINST Dk,

(30:13):
metcalf what he did the week before Against Shortan addison
against The, Vikings like those are legit interceptions THAT i
don't think many cornerbacks can make because Nay shan's lanky and, long,
Right so that's such a credit to who he is
and the work that he's put in the coaching.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Staff.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Right and you, Know Ben johnson was asked today, like
what do you do with Na sean? Right if you,
know assuming That Jalen johnson And Kyler gordon come back
For friday's game against The, eagles you, know what do
you do with? Him And ben just kind of smiled
and was, like he'll he'll have a, Position like they're
not gonna get rid of Nay sean right in this.
LINEUP i don't know whether that, means you, KNOW i

(30:49):
Know Tyrek stevenson is dealing with the hip, injuries or
maybe he just slots over.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
There BUT i.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Don't think no matter how you, know how healthy you,
are there's no way that you take out of this.
LINEUP i know that he can be a liability, SOMETIMES
i know sometimes you, know teams pick on. Him he
has a huge target rate and that sort of. Stuff
BUT i think that when he is targeted and teams
trying to kind of bully, him he kind of hits
back at, them.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
Well you know. What and understandably team has been going after,
him especially earlier in the. Season why it's Nay, shawn,
right why wouldn't you go after? Him but the more
opportunities he's, gotten whether to intercept the ball or make
a play on the, ball whether it's a pass or to,
run he's been making. Them so thisiness kid is you've

(31:35):
talked to my. Habit maybe he's a soft spoken, guy
but he's, probably like you, know he's embraced the. Challenge
and like probably, anyone the more you, play you'd hope
the better you, get the more reps you. Get and
he's getting live game day action, reps and he's taking
advantage of, it and he is developing into a good football. Player,
again he's gonna get a contract and probably a nice

(31:56):
contract after the, season whether it's by The bears or.
Somebody but five interceptions and we played eleven, games, right
eight and? Three, Uh and, again you need, playmakers you
need the home run. Hitters we need more. Homers we need,
sacks we need four, fumbles we need, picks and he's

(32:18):
been one of the guy who's been delivering it consistently this.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Season All, right my final winner from, Yesterday i'll go
WITH Dj. Moore Dj moore's dealt with a lot this,
season a bunch of. Injuries every. Week it seems like
he's getting banged. Up this body part has, hurt this
body part part is, hurt but it continuously goes back
out there and you, know The, bears he showed you
that he can still be a part of this a

(32:42):
key part of this. Offense Right, like he caught five
passes for sixty four. Yards his big touchdown was that
twenty five yard, touchdown which was a great you, know
a great free.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Play you, know The.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Steelers were off, Sides bears got the snap off and
they found a wit And caleb found a wide OPEN
Dj moore the. TOUCHDOWN dj now has three three three
touchdowns after his two touchdown game, yesterday the first time
he had multiple touchdowns in a game Since week five
against The caroline The.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Panthers But, joe you, KNOW i.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Feel like a lot of there's a lot of stuff out,
there you, know And Bears world about do The bears
trade they wanted to TRADE Dj moore before the trade?
Deadline do you trade him during this? Offseason BUT i
THINK Dj moore has proven to you and shown you
that he's healthy and he still.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Plays a, very very valuable part in this. Offense, yeah good.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
PICK i still think you know you you KNOW I
i Love. Burden i'm A rome, fan BUT Dj moore
is still your best wide receiver to me. Anyway Rome
can continues to have some issues with. Drop he dropped
another one yesterday in the third quarter THAT i thought
kind of killed momentum there for the offense a little. Bit.
Uh but BUT dj AND i didn't, REALIZE i forgot

(33:56):
he had didn't realize he had been stuck on ONE
tv catch up until the first one. Yesterday and by the,
way all three WE i can't believe we haven't talked
About klberly at, all but all three of those touchdown
Basketball caleb all darts really good throws on the, Ball
so kudos to him on. That but BUT Dj, Moore
i've said it many, Times i'm a fan pound for

(34:16):
pound the guys as tough AS i think there is
in the. League good good after the, catch good route,
runner and the guy plays plays, her doesn't, whine And
i'm a fan of. HIM i. Can't you, know this
guy's never been to A Pro. Bowl he might not
never get one because there's so, many dang we're good
receivers that pile up monster numbers every. Year but he's

(34:39):
just a real good football. Player And i'm glad he's
on The, bears AND i think The bears are.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
Too, yeah and he passed eight thousand career receiving yards
in the win On, Sunday so congrats to, him obviously
on a big.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Accomplishment some honorable.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Mentions just before we get into the negatives there a
little BIT i. Gave i'm gonna give a shout out
to your Guy Cayro santo's, show not for not for
the field, goals but for the dirty. Kicks he's been
like he's been playing around with them a little, bit you,
know during warm ups and at. Practices he didn't really
bring him out too, much like he would do it,
sometimes but he didn't do it. Consistently but yesterday it

(35:16):
was the first time that he really brought the dirty
to the dirty, kickoff the knuckleball, kickoff whatever you want
to call it out today and The steelers didn't know
what to. Do like the first kickoff That santo's, had
The steelers bobbled it and only returned it to the
five yard.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Line there were a.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
Couple other KICKS i feel like where The steelers had
a hard. Time so kudos to him because, if, if
If caro is able to do that consistently and keep
uh you, know returners on on their toes not surely
what kind of what the ball is going to look
like like, that that's an immediate weapon and field position
is obviously a really important factor when it comes to,

(35:51):
uh you, know football. Games no good.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
POINT i, MEAN i didn't know he had that in his. Bag,
honestly that was great because you, look if you don't
have the ninety eight Male prower, fastball you've got to
be able to throw something really good off speed or
something that guys can swing and miss. At and that's
where that's where he. Is Right he's not going to
boom the sixty sixty, yarder but if he can do,
this that is a nice weapon to. Have and it was,

(36:16):
baffling like like a knuckleball would. Be for whether it's
a batter or it's a guy receiving a. Kickoff so
nice that he could do, that and because especially we've
talked too many times this season about the special teams
and too many big returns on kickoffs and. Punts so
that was that was, pleasant a pleasant surprise yesterday for.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
Me robert chiming, in he wants us to give some
love To. Loveland you don't really see that guy drop
the ball, Off AND i agree with.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
YOU i just, think.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
You, Know, ROBERT i think we're just kind of used
to that From loveland at this. Point we know he's
a very talented player and you know he's going to
be consistent for. You he had four catches for forty nine,
Yards like you're getting a lot of value out of that.
Pick so, YEAH i Think loveland had a great game,
Too like he you, know he had a Touch did
he have a?

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Touchdown blinking out right, now he did have a touchdown?

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Yesterday but, YEAH i think he's a weapon for, you
and he's just consistently proven that over the last couple of. Weeks.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
YEAH i mentioned him as one of the things that worked,
yesterday that that relationship with him And caleb is. WORKING
i just want to see a lot more of, it
and if you look at you, Know caleb is still
not completing. It to, me enough, passes, right the percentage
is not what it should. Be BUT i want to
See loveland targeted a lot more because he does hang

(37:33):
out of the. Ball he's a big. Dude you can
see why they fell in love with the guy and
why they picked him at. TEN i think he's a total.
DUDE i just want to see more of. HIM i
want to see more of a, burden WHICH i thought
they really established him in the first half and then
for whatever, reason he didn't get the ball the second.
Half BUT i want to see more lovely AND i

(37:55):
would just be throwing that, guy thrown to that, guy
thrown to that.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
Guy All, Right, joe let's get to some negatives. Here
we can kind of go a little bit faster. Here
but obviously wasn't a perfect. Showing so what's your.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
First loser from?

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Yesterday, YEAH i, mean you know they.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
DIDN'T i, mean, look they they were a fall was
the illegal formation penalty by The steelers that took away
that long scramble By rudolph that that got him close
to a field goal position late in the game, there
or we could be seeing a different tune. Today so
it Wasn't, again it wasn't a perfect game by any.
Means so but, negative, honestly, KNOW i think there were

(38:33):
there were more positive lot of times we we've covered
wins were like us OR i think there were more
negatives than positives even though they won the. Game, yes
SO i think there were more positives than. Negatives. Negative
Maybe caleb again just the the accuracy again we we
really haven't talked about him this whole. Podcast, uh and

(38:54):
the second when he was missing guys and then there'd
be a drop pass or you, know and then they you,
know getting you, know body slammed by BY Tj watt
the end. Zone that's what's gonna happen if you keep
playing with. Fire and he's done a really good job
avoiding that so many times with spinning away and how
did he avoid that? Sack oh my, goodness and then

(39:16):
he throws it out of bounds or completes the. Pass,
well he got burned yesterday BECAUSE tj watch showed you
why he's a special, player and that play not To caleb's,
CREDIT i, mean that could have been a game. Changer
And pittsburgh goes off and wins this game by by
ten ten, points two, touchdown something like. That but he
didn't let it fluster. Him and again he didn't throw any,

(39:38):
interceptions three, tds no. Picks the one turnover that was.
Bad that may have been his worst moment of the.
Season caleb probably have to think, back, right but his. Career,
yeah it was just an ugly look and again this
is what. Happens and then When i'm seeing, This i'm, thinking,
see you keep getting away with, it and then it's
gonna take something like this to make me. Humble, YOU i,

(39:59):
mean you DID i don't, know but he was better after.
That instead of, crumbling he didn't and it was just like
it was one, play let's move, on and you, know
he ended up having a pretty decent. Game so other than,
this the, misspasses we're still. Seeing it's it's too. MANY
i must have heard on the broadcast YESTERDAY. J. J,
watt who did a really good JOB i thought calling
the game as the analyst, yesterday saying he must send

(40:22):
it like three or four. Times, boy he's gonna look
at the film and he's gonna want that one. Back
boy's gonna look at the. Film he's gonna want that
one back because there were too many of those throws
which he just hoping. TIME i hope that's something that
can get. Better or is this something that's just gonna
be part of his dna, uh part of part of his,
deal whatever you want to call it With caleb throughout his.
CAREER i JUST i don't want to get thinking like

(40:46):
this will never get. Better but if he ever gets that,
better if he still sits, again it gets that completion.
Percentage it doesn't have to be seventy seventy's a big
ass seventy, percent but it's gotta be better and he's
got to hit those wide open. Throws.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
YEAH i don't know If i'm kind of.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
Teme you, know most of WHAT i rode yesterday from
our takeaways and kind of What i'm writing today for
What Ben johnson said today IS i wouldn't say That
Caleb williams put up a good. Performance he put up three,
touchdowns he helped The bears score thirty one. Points i'm
not trying to take that away from, him but there
are still bad moments for, me like that that that
touchdown FROM. Tj watt to the shripsack that can't happen

(41:25):
no matter what level of, Quarterback like it doesn't matter
whether you're AN nfl, quarterback a college, quarterback a.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
High school, quarterback pee week.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
Quarterback like they teach you just get the ball out
of the, way make sure you, don't you, know try
to make, something and he had you, know it's easy
for you, know me to, say you, know sitting here
or sitting up in the press box WHEN i get
the good, view but like he Had DeAndre swift waiting
for him as a, checkdown and he didn't hit the checkdown,
there he didn't get the ball out of the end.
Zone and you, know the the, inaccuracy he talked about

(41:54):
it like there's still some inaccuracy, problems and that's kind
of the reason, why you, know he kind of was.
Frustrated yet after yesterday's, game like he was obviously happy to.
Win he you, know he wasn't taking that for, granted
but you could tell that he's just frustrated because he
knows that he's he knows that he's not playing to
his full potential and it's kind of hurting the teams at,
Times like there are some throws where where he over

(42:16):
Overthrew luther.

Speaker 2 (42:17):
Burden Ben johnson said today that that's a ball that.

Speaker 1 (42:19):
Needs to go a little bit. Lower AND i know,
that you, know the seventy percent completion rate is a high,
mark but you're not going to succeed as a quarterback
if you're hitting fifty. Percent and that's what he's done
the last two. Weeks he was fifty percent on the
money last week and he was fifty four point five
percent you know today or you Know.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
Sunday so that needs to get.

Speaker 1 (42:39):
FIXED i Think caleb knows, that and that's just if
he's able to unlock, that you, know, CONSISTENCY i think
that'll be a big. Thing and you, know it was
interesting because you, Know ben was asked today, about you,
know how do you fix? That do you like set
up some short plays for him to kind of build
up some, momentum and you, Know ben talked about and he, said,
YEAH i think you do that for some, guys but

(43:00):
he doesn't think that that's a solution For. Caleb he
doesn't think that that's something that Gets caleb. Going so
he didn't really expand much about like what is something
that Gets caleb, going but he did say that that's
something they'll be working on because if you get hit
sixty five, percent if you get seventy, percent that's. Creative
if you're shovering around sixty five, percent that's really what

(43:21):
the good quarterbacks do in this. League and he's been
hovering around fifty percent the last few, weeks and that's
just that's not consistent enough.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
For you to win.

Speaker 1 (43:29):
GAMES i know that The bears have one, games obviously they,
have but, again this could have been a situation where
The bears, had you, know had an opportunity to put
this game, away and they didn't do that because the
offense went three and out on its last two. Drives
and that's partly Because caleb missed on some throws.

Speaker 3 (43:44):
Exactly Because, michael it was a stretch there that third.
QUARTER i have to look at the game, again BUT
i just remember watching and seemed complete pass after. Pass i'm, thinking,
well this might be the best he's looked all. Season
he had that stretch going in the third quarter where
he was really, good really good, throws getting the ball out,
quickly in, rhythm, timing all the things we've talked, about

(44:06):
everyone talks. About and then there was that uh past
that room dropt where he worried about getting his feet.
In he got him in and then the guy punches
the ball out and it just seemed like it just killed.
Momentum but like you, said they had that opportunity to
put that game away there in the fourth quarter and
then three and, out three and out the last two.
Drives so let's let's hope it gets. Better And i'm

(44:29):
With Ben johnson about, that because like you, can you
can do the screens and get you, know do the
remember The cincinnati, game but do the quick little like
almost look like a lateral where the guy's in motion
and they tossed to. Him it's technically a forward. Pass
what's a? Completion you can do all those, things but
if he's gonna get to be where he needs to, Be, caleb,
uh you gotta do more than. That you can't just,

(44:50):
be you, know being gimmick throws or whatever screens to
hike that. Percentage if you're worried about the. Stats and
we all look at, him, coaches, players, fans, boddy, media
but he's just got to get better with the. ACCURACY
i hope that can. Improve it remains to be, SEEN
i guess.

Speaker 1 (45:09):
Yeah and, listen every quarterback is gonna have throws that
he wants back, right like that's just. Life and, no
no quarterback is, perfect and no quarterback is hitting on every.
Throw but it just gets it just gets into these
ruts sometimes where it just seems like it doesn't click
for some. Reason and AND i think that's kind of
the the reason why he gets so, frustrated because he
knows it's kind of on, him like he knows that

(45:29):
he's not he's the reason.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
Why those passes aren't.

Speaker 1 (45:31):
Clicking so and, again if The bears are able to
unlock even that a little bit, better, like imagine how
great this team could be playing moving.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
Forward, look the.

Speaker 3 (45:42):
Weapons are there in the old lines we talked. About
they figured that. Out they figured that. Out they have the.
Weapons let's just see the quarterback take it up a notch.
Here look out some.

Speaker 1 (45:53):
Other losers for, Me. JOE i know we're kind of
picking on eight of their last nine, wins so but,
like obviously that's the into this whole. Segment one. LOSER
i had two losers in my, mind and they both
slipped my. Mind So i'll go with the one THAT
i can. Remember the running game didn't give you too much. Yesterday,
Yeah i'm an young guy gave you forty eight yards
on twelve. Carries caleb gave you twenty one yards on four.

(46:16):
Carries fifteen yards on eight carries For DeAndre, swift the
run game didn't give you too. Much and you, know,
OBVIOUSLY i know The steelers have a good run, defense
so maybe that's kind of hard to get swallowed. Up
but you just didn't get really much out of the
run game. Yesterday and that's you, know maybe it's just
one of those weeks sometimes you have to rely on
one side or the.

Speaker 2 (46:37):
Other BUT i didn't really feel like the run game
gave you too.

Speaker 3 (46:39):
Much, No and AS i mentioned, EARLIER i so much
for MY. Mvb DeAndre swift did nothing. YESTERDAY i Thought
monun guy did. FINE i don't, KNOW i don't know
his numbers in front of, me BUT i thought he did.

Speaker 1 (46:52):
Fine still runs, hard like he knows his role on this.
Team like that, touchdown like he'll do that all the.
Time like if they're in short, yards it's a two ways.
Situations they're just gonna, say send me anung guy out,
there and he's going to pick up those two or three.

Speaker 3 (47:04):
Yards he's a tough, DUDE i, mean AND i have
no problem giving him the ball on the goal, line you,
know inside the five yard. Line he's shown like maybe
not the first, time the second, time he's getting. Yards
and that's the offensive line, too they're beginning a. Push
how pleasant is that fendacy from A bear's old, line
SO i, Thought but it was just a really, quiet

(47:26):
quiet round. Game you're.

Speaker 1 (47:29):
Right yesterday another LOSER i, had and we kind of
hit on this with the offense The. Bears, BEARS i
thought again, HERE i was thinking that they're going to
put this game. Away they took a ten point lead
with you, know just you, know fourteen minutes left in the.
Game but then you let you, know The steelers make
it a three point, game thirty one to twenty, eight

(47:51):
and then your offense responds with two to three and.
Outs that's just for how much that defense kept The
bears in the. Game they're, depleted they don't have any
starters in their, secondary their linebacking corps out. There at this,
point the offense needs to do a better job, of you,
know pulling the weight and helping their team win the.
Game that that is just a situation WHERE i think

(48:13):
it's good That Yawon brister got the pass breakup on
fourth down then the game And Gary Grady jarrett also
did that you, know got to pass black at a
block at at the line of.

Speaker 2 (48:23):
Scrimmage but they shouldn't have been in that.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
Situation the offense can't go three and out on its
last two drives to make give The steelers a chance
to win that. Game that just for, me that is
just something that is going to keep The bears from
winning a game against a team like The steelers Or
detroit or the forty nine. Ers, Right like they can
get away with this type with this type of stuff
against against The steelers and The giants and The, vikings

(48:46):
but when you're playing against The, eagles maybe you see
the rams in the playoffs or something like, That like
you got to put teams away and you can't have
three and outs like.

Speaker 3 (48:54):
That, yeah especially because again they're. Healthy the offense is.
HEALTHY i mean everyone played yesterday that you were hoping
he would be, playing whether it was before the week
or beginning of the, season except For beneditt and then that's.
It defense got two dozen guys. Out the offense is,
like this is on, us and we got to put
this game. AWAY i mean eight to be complaining about

(49:16):
an offense when they put up thirty one, points but you're,
right points out. There it's okay to score. Forty but
they needed that one, touchdown even if it was Another
Cairo santo's field, goal to create some more separation of the,
scoreboard just way.

Speaker 1 (49:29):
Some clock right like it just felt like you, like
the defense is fighting tooth and nail in every drive
and then they just go two three and outs like
that takes no, click gives them no time to recover at,
all and.

Speaker 3 (49:38):
They gave you everything they. Had, yes we, knew even
when they were, healthy probably wasn't going to be a top,
five top ten, defense you, know unless some guys really,
emerged and Odang bo was the, guy and that was
the right, pick and all of a sudden he fortified
the pass. Rusher now he got someone to compliment sweat
and all. That we knew that it was going to
be a great. Defense now they're so dang beat up

(50:00):
that the offense just got to, say, hey we got,
you and they barely they had, him but just barely, yesterday.

Speaker 1 (50:07):
All, Right johnny, losers any more losers you got from
yesterday's game before we move, on, No i'll.

Speaker 3 (50:12):
Give you one more winner. Though the draft. CLASS i
mean when you look at, it what you, know we
were on it. EARLY i was, anyway just so not
a negative but a. Positive just when you look at the,
Contributions levelet is turning into a beast burdens look, Good trapillo,
boy that was. Encouraging i'm a nung. Guy who AM
i missing? HERE i missed another draft pick turners. Out

(50:33):
we know That.

Speaker 2 (50:34):
Hippolyte made a little bit of an impact before he got.

Speaker 1 (50:36):
Injured on.

Speaker 3 (50:37):
That so the draft class and we, FIGURED i, mean you,
know it's typically not one, game and they're all all pro,
guys so it takes. Time but they're getting contributions from
this twenty twenty five draft class and this franchise and THE.
Gm even THOUGH i know his contract will be here,

(50:57):
forever he needed that. Too and then so that's another good.
Sign that's it's been trending in a positive direction with
this draft.

Speaker 1 (51:05):
CLASS i want to hit on some questions and comments
and Here Daniel snyd and joining us from UH snt
and joining us From. Facebook, well the defense get better this.
Year it can only go up from, here, RIGHT i,
MEAN i mean at this, point and that's not a
shot at.

Speaker 2 (51:20):
Them it's just like they're injured as.

Speaker 1 (51:21):
Heck, like we'll see what the situation is With Jalen
johnson And Kyler. GORDON i think THOSE i think if
you get those two guys, back that is, huge, Right
like you are already game big play making from that. Secondary
But Jalen johnson and what you can do With Kyler, gordon,
right even if you have like you, know they Place
Chamaine edmunds on injured reserve On, saturday so he's going
to miss the next three games after he missed yesterday's.

(51:42):
Game even if you get. T. J edwards back and
Maybe Noah suel, listen maybe you. LISTEN i thought they
did pretty well WITH dme. Yesterday that's a b big
credit To Dennis. Allen. Listen maybe if you Get Kyler
gordon back, there maybe you're sending Both Kyler gordon AND.
Cj Gardner johnson On bloe it is, right and then
you can drop Back britsker on coverage or maybe you

(52:03):
Put brisker and, like you could do a lot of
different combinations with with those two guys coming back in,
there especially Since jalen is such a lockdown corner on the,
outside and then you can Move kyler, around whether that's
in past coverage or whether that's as as a pass.

Speaker 2 (52:17):
Rusher SO.

Speaker 1 (52:19):
I feel like the answer to that is, Yes AND
i think that has to be really. Encouraging, Right like
The bears are fighting ways to win these games with
the with an injury depleted, defense AND i think that
has to be really, encouraging especially If jalen And kyler
are able to get back On.

Speaker 2 (52:33):
Friday, yeah they'll get better.

Speaker 3 (52:36):
Defensively it's got to be the right guys coming back,
though like you, mentioned it's got to Be, gordon it's
got to Be, johnson it's got to BE. Tj. Edwards
and if they can Get edmonds back for the. Final
but there's a six, left six games left now they're
eight and, three, ye you can get him back for
the net for you, Know. December basically that's how you
can get.

Speaker 1 (52:54):
Better, yeah and that has to be at Uh robert
chiming in he uh never heard of a duck snort,
before WHICH i don't know if that's something that kind
of passes, Through but, yes for for for for a moment,
THERE i THOUGHT i thought THAT i was making something up,
RIGHT i. WAS i was doing SOMETHING i am known
to make up, for make make up or mess up.

(53:15):
Phrases So i'm glad THAT i got that one correct.

Speaker 3 (53:20):
There, Yeah Harrelson Hawk carrollton a little duck, Snort, yeah
the little you, know that's definitely WHERE i hit in, baseball.

Speaker 2 (53:31):
All, right hitting on some other.

Speaker 1 (53:33):
Stuff so, Yeah bears will our bears are not practicing,
Today they're going to be doing to walk throughs uh.
TODAY i think they're just. Meeting we're going to talk
to some players here and in an hour and a,
half so we'll hear from. Them Ben johnson talked this
Morning joe obviously you, know well for those, asking we
will be doing a podcast or live stream On wednesday

(53:56):
morning at nine, am so make sure you guys join,
us uh and we'll Previews friday's game against against you, know,
uh The. Eagles BUT i think the big thing we're
looking for this, Week, joe is Are Jalen johnson And
Kyler gordon coming back and what are they doing with that?
Defense because if you Get jalen john if you get

(54:16):
even one of those guys, back, right, LIKE i think
that's such an impactful thing where they'll obviously beyond snap.
Limits i'm sure they're going to kind of ease their way,
back and especially since The bears do have a you,
know talented depth in the, secondary you can kind of
afford to do. That but Getting Jalen johnson back In
Kyler gordon both or either For friday's game against An
eagles team that's going.

Speaker 2 (54:37):
To be really. UPSET i think you have to be
really encouraged by.

Speaker 3 (54:41):
That, yeah you're you, know you have a better pulse
on it THAN i. DO i wouldn't think if they
weren't ready for, yesterday going at five days five days
later probably is a. No, also then given that extra
day that weekend to heal up for the following, weeks
then you got the the packers companies gog was that,
RIGHT i Go timeline? Right Or?

Speaker 2 (55:03):
Bay pardon it's Ad Green?

Speaker 3 (55:05):
Bay yeah, right, Right so that's but that's after The philly. Game, yeah, yes,
Okay so so that's WHAT i would be aiming. To i'd,
Bean i'd Be i'd love to see them back on
the Field, Friday BUT i don't know that that that's
a tough Against. Philly i'm thinking just gut feeling that
you know educated guests that they don't Play. Friday what

(55:25):
we'll see here and Soon.

Speaker 1 (55:28):
Rick chiming, in do they have to be activated By
thursday to the fifty three man roster at three? Pm,
yes they That thursday three pm deadline is going to
be when The bears would have to activate either or
Both Kyler gordon so And Jalen. Johnson so that's SOMETHING
i would assume that if they do do, it they
will do it at that time because they don't want

(55:49):
to get the egos as much notice as. Possible SO
i would assume that that is something if they do do,
it you would make sure you check out my social
media Because i'll probably be ending a story Out i'm
On thanksgiving about them being.

Speaker 2 (56:03):
Activated all, Right.

Speaker 1 (56:04):
Joe before he say, goodbye let's just do.

Speaker 2 (56:05):
It we have to start doing this now every.

Speaker 1 (56:07):
Week quick look at the. Playoffs bears are still a
top of THE Nfc north with an eight and three
record Green bay one last week and commanding fashion against
The Vikings.

Speaker 2 (56:18):
YANKS jj.

Speaker 1 (56:19):
McCarthy he's dealing with the concussion, though So i'm wishing
all the best to. Him bears thought they got a
big break almost With detroit and The New York giants
going into the into, overtime but The giants blew another
ten point lead In detroit, Won So. Joe The bears
are eight and three at the top of THE Nfc
north and, currently as of this, morning they are the

(56:39):
number three seed in the.

Speaker 3 (56:41):
Playoffs, insane. Insane no one had, This no one had
at eight and, Three but here you, are and we
keep talking about the magical ten win. Mark six games,
Left detroit twice with The, Packers philly who The, niners, Right?

Speaker 2 (57:01):
Niners And Detroit.

Speaker 3 (57:03):
Detroit yeah, right, yeah three against THE Nfc, North so
they're right. There but, again you, know Even, cleveland how
About shador winning yesterday And Miles, Carrett my, goodness he's
having incredible years and route to shadow the single season sack.
Record so you, know if The bears there's certainly even
if they were like dominating, teams it's THE nfl and their.

(57:26):
Losses everyone knows, this whether you play in a confidence
pool or the you, know the office, place everyone knows
there are no easy games to. Pick, ever but The
bears have six left and they're all going to be
dog fights because that's the way The bears play, football
especially The, bears uh this, year but they're right there

(57:47):
and all of a sudden you're thinking of Playoff, berth
you could win the. Division it's there for, you.

Speaker 1 (57:54):
The, pardon it's definitely.

Speaker 3 (57:56):
There it's, there and you know they're not just the
guys we just have to win two more games the
rest of the. Year they're not thinking, THAT i guarantee
as a coaching staff and certainly the, players because the
more they, win like just like, anything, right the more you,
win the more confident you, get the more you start to,
believe and that does. Matter so let's just hope The
bear if you're A bears, fan that keeps going and we'll,

(58:18):
see we'll have to have to shape up This philly
game on A. Wednesday but they're they're in a great.
Spot and again there's there's really no pressure on. Them
you'd hate to go on a stinker run of like
three losses in a row or four losses in a,
row but, no there are no expectations on this, team not.
Nationally bears fans were, excited, right but you, know no

(58:41):
one expected The bears to be.

Speaker 1 (58:42):
Here, YEAH i, mean you're they're playing with house money
at this, point, Right like they're getting, three they're at
the top of the, division like they're dealing with a
bunch of injuries but somehow doing. This but, yeah you,
know at this, point for for The, bears they're trying
to win every.

Speaker 2 (58:58):
Week they're trying to go one to, know all that
kind of.

Speaker 1 (58:59):
Thing For bears, fans you're probably looking for two, wins,
Right like three, wins you would feel something would have
to go astronomically wrong for you or insane in THE
nfc for you not to make.

Speaker 2 (59:11):
The playoffs with eleven. Wins BUT i think for Most.

Speaker 1 (59:14):
Bears, fans you're looking at a ten win, season and you,
KNOW i, know you obviously don't want to lose four
of your last two games heading into the, Playoffs but
at this, point you're just trying to get, in, Right
like you're just trying to get into the.

Speaker 2 (59:25):
Playoffs that's really what the.

Speaker 1 (59:26):
Goal was for this. SEASON i don't think, ANYONE i
think everyone at the beginning of the, year if you
told them that they were nine or ten and what
is that ten and seven and or even eleven and,
six you would lose your.

Speaker 2 (59:39):
Mind you'd be so.

Speaker 1 (59:39):
Happy but obviously that changes once the playoffs are once
the season starts and expectations kind of. Change so it'll
be really interesting to see what this final six game
stretch looks like and whether they Are do they win two,
games do they win? Three or does this kind of
reveal who The bears are when they kind of play
these tough teams here in this six game.

Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Stretch.

Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
Yeah, no they've proven their good football. Team you have
to you have to give that to. Them at eight and.
Three you are a good football. Team AND i don't
think that'll just disappear in one or two, games even
if they turn out. Bad let's hope they don't get
blown out by thirty by anybody. Here but they've earned

(01:00:24):
this eight and three. Mark that's to, me that's.

Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
