001 - Olympic Dreams

Episode 1 launches our first ever podcast. Hosted by committee member and long time club member Mark Klemens our podcast goes to air during a global pandemic that’s impacted daily life in many ways as governments grapple with bringing the virus under control. The pandemic has seen our club close temporarily and prevented sailing and socialising and all the usual activities that bring us so much joy at the Club. Mark talks to three Club members whose Olympic Dreams have been impacted by Covid 19. Olympic qualifiers, brothers Sam and Will Phillips, and Tess Lloyd tell Mark what it’s like to find out they’ve been selected to compete at the Olympics in Tokyo later this year only to then be told the Olympics will be postponed due to the pandemic. Mark also catches up with CEO Henry Dyer about the challenges the pandemic has posed and what’s in store for the future at the Club as restrictions ease.
