Speaker 1 (00:14):
Welcome me.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
It's Friday. We've survived another one. This is the sideline shoved.
All right, this is your boy, KP. It's time for
the shuffle. We got football, we got bixball.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
We got fixed, we got the NBA, the White House,
and FBI arresting people for gambling and mafia connections. Let's
get into it. Where to start? Where it start today, y'all?
Like there's been a lot over the last week, some
great football games. We got great football games coming up.

(00:55):
We had a great appearance by the Chargers last We've
got double overtime games all over the place right Stepf's
putting people to sleep. Gordon's going for fifty SGA fifty
five Okoa cities on pace for eighty two double overtime games.

(01:16):
I'm gonna start with football. We'll work through it. I'm
gonna end on a sad note, on a bad note.
I don't know, we really don't want to talk about,
but we're gonna have to cover because face it, it's
a thing in society right now, and that's this FBI investigation.
But I digress. Let's start with some football. Let's start

(01:39):
with the good stuff. Let's start with what dominates this
time of year, and that is football. So we know
what Brandon Graham is coming out of retirement, getting paid
a little bit of cash to come be a leader,
come provide some energy, maybe a little past ushelf for
an Eagles defense to face It could use it right now.

(02:01):
It's not the team we saw last year win the
Super Bowl, so they had to go to somebody who's retired,
couldn't find a trade partner. I guess, go find a
guy who's retired, hasn't been doing football activities. May stayed
in shape, but is that football shape? Like is he
gonna be able to make it through the next nine

(02:21):
weeks ten weeks? We'll see. But that reeks of a
little bit of desperation in my opinion, Like, we know
we gotta do something. We're missing leadership, right They're basically
telling you that defense does not have leadership on We're
having enough trouble on the offensive side of the ball

(02:44):
with our receivers, with the running game basically not being
existent this year. So we'll see how that plays out.
That was interesting to see. I mean, I love Brandon
Graham as a player, I love him as a leader,
but coming out of retirement seven weeks into the season.
I mean, what is he really going to provide outside
of perspective like, how many snaps do we expect to

(03:07):
get out of Brandon Graham over the next few weeks
or really over the rest of the season. Detroit defense, Hey,
I was wrong. I thought Tampa Bay was gonna get
us to speak. I really did you know, even with
the injuries they had, we were down so many guys.

(03:28):
You can only have so many guys go down before
it really impacts stuff. And g r t grit. Detroit
personifies it. Everybody else in the NFL might want to
talk about grit. It takes grit. We have grit. No
Detroit is grit. If there was an NFL dictionary, next
to the word it, next to the word grit in

(03:51):
that dictionary would be a picture of the Detroit Lions
and or Dan Campbell. They go by who he is is.
It's very rare that you see a head coach like
Dan Campbell impact the culture the way he has. It
didn't matter the next man up mentality. Guy that at

(04:12):
fifteen and two last year with the injuries they had.
Now they're not getting to fifteen and two this year.
I don't see that as a thing. But they are
gonna have every bit of grit. They're gonna have every
bit of sixty minutes that you need to win games
and put yourself in a position to have a chance

(04:33):
moving into the playoffs. Great performance by that secondary, great
performance by that defense, Great coaching by a ship Jamiir
Gibbs had a great night. Seattle also looks really good

(04:54):
right now. Just smooth on offense, aggressive on defense. I
really like what I'm seeing just from a football perspective
as a football fan. If you don't like watching Seattle
right now, or Indianapolis for that matter, you're too caught
up in the tribalism and fandom. You need to step back.

(05:15):
If you enjoy the game of football, watch what these
teams are doing. Seattle looks impressive. Sam Darnold, isn't that
the guy we all wrote off, the kid coming out
of USC that was not ready to be a top pick.
Indian Green Bay are the two first place teams at

(05:37):
this point in the season. Indianapolis has the best record
in the NFL and arguably the best team. And I
said that at the beginning season, and I'll say it again.
Not even Indianapolis fans saw this coming. The crazy fanatic

(05:59):
might have been like, oh, we're going seventeen and know
this is our year. I mean, we did another Super
Bowl tattoo, but nobody saw Indianapolis doing this. Green Bay
was in the top right their first place because they've
only got the one loss. They've had their bye week,
so they're winning percentages a little better. But I don't

(06:21):
know that Green Bay is better than Seattle. I know
Green Bay whooped Detroit in the first week, but I
don't know that they're really better than Detroit or Tampa
Bay for that matter. We see owners now taking shots

(06:42):
at their quarterbacks. Right, Woody Johnson in New York taking
a shot at Dustin Fields. What did Johnson's the last
owner that should be giving anybody any kind of slack.
His big dumb ass contributed to the demolition monetarily of
the East wing of the White House, as did the

(07:04):
Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Two NFL teams donated money to that.
So based on his political standpoints and what that represents
on the world scale and what that's doing to this country,
the Jets owners should shut up, just stay out of it.

(07:27):
You okayed the contract for Fields and now you want
to call him out and say, well, any coach with
a quarterback like that couldn't really do much full You
signed him, you signed his checks. As much as you
think you're taking a shot at field, you're just making
yourself look dumb. And we all know who you are

(07:48):
and where you stand and what those stances have done
to the people of this country. So just shut your mouth,
collect your money, be a rich guy. Nobody needs to
hear from you. Sean Payton says he didn't take a shot,
but fate that was a passive, aggressive, thinly veiled shot

(08:11):
at Russell Wilson, saying that he talked to the owner
and was hoping that the switch wouldn't have happened to Jackson,
dark yet that he wanted a shot at Russell Wilson.
He wanted the Broncos to go in against the Giants
and be able to be up on Russell Wilson. Wilson
fires back and calls him classless and brings up the
boundy gate, which is fair game. Peyton screwed him. I

(08:33):
don't care what Russell Wilson's ability is anymore, or how
good he is, or what he thinks his legacy is.
Peyton tanked that season because he did not want to
work with the guy that lacks integ ree. It's classless somehow, However,

(08:54):
he's got this Denver team with no offense at five
and two, So congratulations, you got what you wanted, eighty
five million dollars to send a player away an offense
that can't do much flag because you ran out on
the field to the two yard line a suspended linebacker

(09:17):
who went out to yell the referee after the game,
upset about the same thing he saw his head coach doing.
Integrity class I'm not seeing it out of Sean Payton
right now. It flows downhill. Does Greenlaw go out there

(09:41):
after the game and chase the referee down say whatever
he said and get himself suspended if he doesn't see
his head coach run out on the field to the
two yard line because he's upset about alcohol. Been doing
this for far too long for that to be your reaction.
Sean Denvers five and two, one of five or seven

(10:08):
teams in the NFL, one of two in the AFC
that are five and two. Five teams in the NFC
are five and two. Good football being played. Denver's defense
can put on the pressure they are attacking Patrick's to fan,
last year's defensive player of the Year Riley Moss is

(10:30):
not the player we thought he was gonna be after
his rookie year. In fact, if they couldn't get the
pressure they were getting, this team would not be five
and two. And I know they've had some close losses
and losses on field goals at the end of the game.
It wouldn't have been that close if this defense wasn't
getting the presser because that back end is not holding

(10:52):
up that well. Now best division in football might be
AFT West, might be NFC West, but based on record
right now, once again, at this point in the season,
it's the NFC North. I know Minnesota loses last night,

(11:16):
but every team in the North is at five hundred
or better. The North is the best division. I might
be biased since my favorite team is in the North,
but it's the best division. It's the most historical division,

(11:37):
so I love it. Good football being played. We now
know the Pro Bowl games are all being moved to
super Bowl Week. Makes sense. Not mad about it, true, offbeak.
Between the championship games and super Bowl Week, nothing going
to be taking place that week. I don't know. I

(12:02):
didn't really see any games last week that made me
feel any kind of way. I mean, again, I was
nice to see Detroit's defense do what they do and
get the win over Tampa Bay. I didn't as much
as I am a champion for Detroit and I always
picked Detroit in the back of my mind, I was
kind of expecting it to be tough and Tampa Bay
had pulled it out. I haven't told my family, Look,

(12:24):
this is gonna come down to the last drive. I
think the defense might have to save us. Baker's going
to be in it and trying to win the game.
And Detroit, honestly, as much as they had grit, they
could have won that game a lot more points. They
had opportunities they didn't take advantage of. They had turnovers,

(12:46):
they had to turnover on downs, they had missed kicks,
so there could have been more points there from Detroit.
Looking at some of the other games, I mean, watching
Christian and Bijean Duler thing in San Francisco Atlanta was fun.

(13:11):
Philadelphia got back on the winding side of things. Casey
was dominant again with Shee Rice coming back opens up
that offense quite a bit. They don't have a receiver
who can do what he does. Indianapolis put it on.
The Chargers came back this week and already got one
against Minnesota last night, and we got how many buys?

(13:35):
We had one, two, three, four, or five six buys
this week, So fewest games so far in any week
of the season this weekend. Jacksonville's on a bye, Vegas
is on a bye, the Traits on a bye, Seattle,
the Rams, and the Cardinals all have buys this week.

(13:57):
With the teams that are playing, I'll take San Francisco
to beat Houston this week. I think Kyle Shanahan knows
what Tamiko Ryans is made of as a coach. I
think Tamiko Ryans knows what Kyle Shanahan is made of
as a coach. But Houston's offensive line is garbage. I mean,
they might have a decent team. Their defense plays hard,
they've got some weapons. They've got CJ. Stroudag who look
great as a rookie. But their offensive line is not good.

(14:21):
It's not cohesive. They're not giving the offense time to perform.
So I'll take San Francisco won that game. I mean,
Houston's what two and four on the season. I would
have expected them to be at least four and two
in the season at this point. Flip that Atlanta's gonna
get Miami this week. Tampa Bay is gonna get in

(14:42):
New Orleans. Even with Baker coming out and saying he
thinks they're gonna try and hurt him and he doesn't
like those guys and or they're gonna give a little
extra or whatever the quote was, Tampa Bay comes in
and gets that one. Somehow I had them down as
five and five, but they are five and two. I

(15:09):
do think Jordan Love and Green Bay going to Pittsburgh
and get that win. Nice to hear that Aaron Rodgers
wants to retire as a packer when he's all done.
He's got animosity and he's looking forward to seeing some
of the guys that were there when he was great.
Memory awesome. You're gonna lose this week. Green Bay is
the better team. I've got Dallas coming into Denver and

(15:31):
winning this week, even with Denver wearing the throwback you
know helmets and you need I think Philadelphia gets back
at the Giants, who they lost to just a couple
of weeks ago. If Lamar plays, If Lamar plays, I
will take Baltimore to beat Chicago, because that's going to

(15:52):
be an emotional lift for the Ravens, who had faced
it at this point one and five in the season,
the injuries they've had, they need something good to happen
before this season's just written off. I don't expect them
to be sellers by any mean, that's not the Ravens way,
that's not what their front office does. But if they

(16:15):
hit one in six after this week, with the next
three games being on the road and their bye week
already in the rearview mirror, I don't see them correcting it. Right.
You lose to Chicago this week, sure, you could probably
go to Miami and get that win. But then you
go to Minnesota, you go to Cleveland, who the last

(16:37):
few years you've struggled against Cleveland, and Cleveland's defense would
love nothing more than to beat you and shut you down. Okay,
then you've got the Jets, that's probably a win, the
Bengals probably not winning that one. Pittsburgh, you're not good
enough to win that one. Then you go back to Cincinnati,
then you have New England. You're not better than New
England right now. Then you're at Green Bay, not winning

(16:59):
that one at Pittsburgh. Not winning that one to finish
the season, not with how they are playing right now.
But you're gonna win this week against Chicago. Then you
start compiling wins. You pick up that win against Miami,
you pull out a win against Minnesota, who struggling. Then

(17:22):
you get that Jets win after Cleveland. Okay, now we're
rolling right. They're always sitting at four and five with options,
feeling a little bit about ourselves. Guys come back from injury,
and maybe the soft part of that schedule on the
back end, it's really in face it, it's not that
hard of a schedule for the Ravens. On the back end,

(17:43):
good teams, but not that hard for the team that
we thought the Ravens were coming in this year. Cincinnati,
face it. They should beat the Jets this week. Then
I will take Buffalo to beat Carolina. I'll take New

(18:03):
England to beat Cleveland, Casey over Washington. I took the
Chargers to beat Minnesota, so that one worked out well
for me. And then Indianapolis is gonna get fantasy this week.
So those are my picks. You know, I don't condone
sports gambling. That's not why I give the picks. I
don't gamble myself. I don't do fantasy sports anymore. Just

(18:25):
how I see it. It's good conversation. I love when
people come back, you know, tell me what their picks are,
why they think I'm wrong, and it can be a
healthy sports conversation. That's what my picks are about. Right.
I'm not giving over unders. I'm not saying go bet
your house. Just who I think is went in this week.

(18:47):
That's all. I've had some good weeks, I've had some
bad weeks. We've got a good week starting tonight the
World Series, the Toronto Blue Jays for the first time
in thirty two years or back in the World Series.
The La Dodgers are going for back to back championships again.
Like I said, you got a three hundred and whatever

(19:08):
million dollar payroll, you better be in the conversation. So
it's not surprising that Dodgers made it here. Toronto has
had a great season, Butshett probably coming back. He's been
added to the pros the World Series roster. Kershaw's on
the roster for the Dodgers. Look, I wanted it to
be Toronto and the Phillies when the playoffs started, I

(19:30):
wanted that true nostalgia moment from the early nineties. But
I'll take the Blue Jays and the Dodgers. I think
it's gonna be good. It's gonna be international. Toronto's a
very international city. LA is a very international city. I
think Mijor League Baseball is happy that they've got two
large markets. Toronto's gonna be on fire. We've seen what

(19:50):
it's like up there when the Raptors won. The blue
Jays win, that's gonna be huge. The Dodgers win and
go back to back. I think we haven't had a
back to back champion in baseball for I don't remember
the stat I saw anymore, and I didn't write it down,
but it's been a while. And on top of that,
we get the announcement this week that women's pro baseball

(20:12):
is becoming a reality that New York, Los Angeles, Boston,
San Francisco are going to be the first four teams
first for cities to have women's professional baseball league debuting
next spring. That's huge, but the success we've seen from
the WNBA able the past few years, with women's hockey
blowing up the way it is to have a professional

(20:35):
women's baseball league for people and stars or names like
Money Davis. We all remember from the Little League World
Series years back, trying out going to get on one
of these teams. I'm sure it's going to be fun.
Gives an option outside of softball, with not knocking softball,

(20:56):
great sport. Those women can do from you know what
is their their mound is forty feet or something. From
the plate underhand pitch, it's crazy, especially fast pitched, like
totally repect the game in those athletes. And not only that,

(21:16):
do not only do we have the World Series, not
only do we have football this week? Right, not only
is hockey going on, but the NBA regular season kicked
off this week and we've had some great games so far.
Like I said, Oklahoma City is on pace for eighty
two double overtime games. Not get it. They are only
two games in, but two games in and both of

(21:38):
them have gone to double overtime. That's fun, right. The
Knicks pick up the win on Wednesday night, the Hornet
picked up a win, The Magic picked up a win. Right,
that was the end of No, that was regular season.

(22:00):
We look at Tuesday night was opening night? Excuse me?
I looked at Wednesday thunder double overtime win or overtime
win over Houston, the Warriors pick up the win over
the Lakers. Warriors look good right now, right They're looking
pretty good. Rockets look pretty good. Thunder looked pretty good.

(22:23):
Wednesday night victor Winbyama looked pretty good. Put on a
little bit of wait, doing some razz of dazz. Put
up forty. He's gonna be a challenge. He's young, he's
still growing. What is he twenty happy twenty one sometime soon?

(22:48):
Like if the blood clots don't get him and nobody
accidentally falls into a leg or something to end his career,
he's going to be a problem for a while. He
makes a three point shot look like a free throw
man can pretty much dunk, stand and still Like if
it was me, I'd be getting him out away from

(23:08):
the paint as much as possible when I was on offense,
and I'd be attacking, attacking, attacking the paint, Like, let's
get this guy in foul trouble every game. If we
give up ten blocks, great, If he hits seventy points, great,
but nobody else on that team's doing nothing, and we're
gonna try and foul him out by attacking attacking, attacking,

(23:31):
and make them adjust to that seven six seven seven
whatever he's up to now. He's not an alien. He's
a generational talent right now, and hopefully not one that
becomes one of those what if stories right because injuries
or the blood clot situition does get it. But a

(23:56):
generational guy for sure. The way he looks right now.
I had somebody today tell me he reminds them of
what Jordan was like when he was first entering his prime,
right doing things that they just hadn't seen before. And
they feel the same way watching him play. He's just
doing things that they haven't seen done before. Then last

(24:21):
night we have the finals rematch that goes into double
overtime Thunder and Pacers. It looked like the Pacers might
get it right. They were looking good, looking strong at
that back all towards the end when they were down before,
not sure if the timeout was called prior to the
past being inbounded or not. Thunder pull away. Now here's

(24:46):
my thing. This is why the NBA it's hard for
me to watch. The NBA has gotten kind of like
the NFL, and that everything is geared towards the offense
and in the NBA. You have these offensive players, these oh,
they're amazing scores, Sga, James Houston.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Because they are amazing scores, How good would they be
if they couldn't push off almost every damn time they
had the ball? How good would they be if you
took away the ability to run into somebody and have
that be a foul on them. SGA's number one move
is putting his shoulder into you, so intentionally making contact

(25:29):
to create space, pushing back off.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
Of that and shooting a corner jumper. But if you
were to hold your ground, that's a foul. That's just
it's ridiculous. I'd much rather watch any other version of
basketball right. Oh, we tried to get rid of it

(25:54):
where the guys were dribbling in front of somebody and
just stopping. Well, you need to get rid of this
non sense. SGA is a good player. I'm not gonna
take that from him. Was the MVP last year in
my Opinion't know. Does he get credit for it, Yes,
but the man pushes off all the time, and it's

(26:16):
not fun to watch. They get to your spot without
having the benefit of pushing. And look, he learned it
from James Houston. That short time they were together in LA.
He picked that up quick and he has mastered that.
So as long as it's okay, I get it, he's
gonna do it. But it shouldn't be. And everybody wants

(26:40):
to say, oh, Jordan would score fifty games this league,
Yeah he would. Is that fool like to push off too?
Then we had the Nungots Warriors, which was delayed what
supposed to start at eight o'clock. They finally hit TV
at like just before nine, like eight forty five or something.
Finally in the second quarter that game finally gets on TV. Like,

(27:08):
that's a space the NBA can improve too. Your local
game should override whatever else is already on. Right living
in Colorado, I'm watching an NFL Sunday game. As soon
as that Denver Bronco game starts, it cuts over to
the local game for the people in that market last night,
the Nuggets and Warriors fans. That game should have cut

(27:30):
over in those two markets. Everybody else can stay on
the Thunder and Pacers where you switch it to ESPN
two or whatever you gotta do. But to not put
that game on when it's already a late start for
Nuggets fans, all damn year until almost nine o'clock. Do better, NBA.

(27:51):
Gordon went for fifty, Corry goes for forty two. It's
another game that goes to overtime. Nobody knows what happened
in damn first half. Like, that's just bad TV once again.
And I love the game of basketball, But these guys

(28:13):
that have learned to just have push off as part
of their game and then not being able to watch
games because you can't figure out TV contracts or how
to switch home markets. Come on, it's not that hard, though,
it can be done. The big boys over an NFL

(28:33):
do it all the time. So now that I'm in
that mood, let's talk about this FBI news that came
out this week. Right, thirty something people, thirty five something
people arrested as part of this raid on illegal gambing, gambling,

(28:54):
sports betting. Four crime families are involved. Right, Billips gets arrested,
the coach of the Trailblazers Hall of Fame basketball player
Rosier gets arrested. Damon Jones gets arrested, and Rose gets
arrested in the same investigation that two years ago he
was basically cleared. So maybe new evidence, you know, not

(29:21):
saying these guys didn't do what they're being accused of.
The timing of everything, it seems like the government's going
look the look at the shiny object. Don't notice that
we're tearing down the White House. Don't not icue we're
screwing democracy. Don't notice we're taking away your rights and
threatening to ruin the next election that we've got our

(29:45):
minions projecting all kinds of nonsense and trying to take
away people's rights. Don't get mad that we're blowing up
fishing boats. Here's our distraction. Look, the NBA had a
couple guys that are involved in this thing that we're investigated,
and we arrested, and we put their names out all
over the place. Bilps Big accuse of helping rig card

(30:08):
games with the mafia, using X ray tables and rigged
cards and rigged shufflers and hand signals. Rosier tipping sports
betters and Damon Jones giving information about Lebron being out

(30:31):
to betters and telling them you better bet a lot
so I can eat too. Like again, I don't condone cry,
but this very much reeks of a distraction from the MAGA,
FBI and White House. It's projection. They want us to
focus on this because we're all so in tune to

(30:52):
entertainment and sports and it's so heavy and important in
this country, so that we don't pay attention to the
other stuff they're doing to impact all of us. The
government shut down, healthcare, premiums are going up, people's food
benefits are going away. But I'm supposed to care that

(31:14):
Chauncey Billips might have been involved in something to take
help the mafia and other crime families take money from
people who wanted to go play cards for exorbitant amounts
of money. Like, I get it. Crime is a crime.
If they did it, they did it. But the other

(31:38):
big crap that's going on out there, really, you didn't
start any of it with the crime family's names. All
of the headlines were NBA, NBA, NBA, and then you
read through it and found out, oh, the mafia is involved.
Oh they say, these four different crime famans are working together,
because that's normal. These crime families don't compete, They always

(32:05):
get together and work together. That's totally normal. So we'll
see where all of this goes. I mean, you've had
people come out on both sides in support of and
against rap professional poker players saying they knew Phillips was
doing this stuff and wouldn't play in his games. Other
people coming out saying there's no way he's involved in

(32:25):
any of this. He's the most upstanding person. We'll see
where it goes. But this reeks of a distraction, This
reeks of projection, this reeks of corruption, and it reeks
of embarrassment. So again, I'm trying on this show, more

(32:51):
so than on my last show, to not bring politics
onto the program. But if they're going to force, here's
my hand. I'm going to bring it up. I'm going
to talk about it. I'm going to give the opportunity
to all of you to hear a different voice, a
different opinion, and to really decide and think and dive

(33:16):
into the information and not just be caught on a headline,
not just be caught on a distraction, because that's what
they need more than anything right now. Outside of keeping
us divided, is us to be distracted. Right If we're
distracted and divided, they can keep doing things like tearing
down check on Kennedy's flower garden and the East Wig

(33:39):
to build a gaudy, ugly gold ball room that kind
of classless. Actually it comes full circle. That's the shuffle
for this week. Until next time, do something nice for
somebodys

The Brothers Ortiz

The Brothers Ortiz

The Brothers Ortiz is the story of two brothers–both successful, but in very different ways. Gabe Ortiz becomes a third-highest ranking officer in all of Texas while his younger brother Larry climbs the ranks in Puro Tango Blast, a notorious Texas Prison gang. Gabe doesn’t know all the details of his brother’s nefarious dealings, and he’s made a point not to ask, to protect their relationship. But when Larry is murdered during a home invasion in a rented beach house, Gabe has no choice but to look into what happened that night. To solve Larry’s murder, Gabe, and the whole Ortiz family, must ask each other tough questions.
