Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is Real Dale Sports Talk with k eight, number four,
twenty twenty four. Thanks for tuning in, Thanks for always listening,
(00:27):
Thanks for the interactions, Thanks for the guests, Thanks for
the interviews. This is Real Deale Sports Talk with KP.
I'm so happy to be here. I'm so happy to
(00:47):
be talking sports. Big changes are coming. This will be
the last episode of Real Deal Sports Talk with KP.
The rest of this month, going into early January, will
(01:07):
be focused on our rebranding. My rebranding. We're going to
come back with a new show. We're gonna update social media,
We're going to be joining Blue Sky with Right now,
tentatively we are scheduled. I am scheduled to have the
first show under the new name on January eighth of
(01:34):
twenty twenty five. The new show will be called Sideline Shuffle.
I'll get into the whys and all of that in
that first episode. That is not how I intended the
last episode of Real Deal Sports Talk with Kpzago. This
(01:56):
is almost a ten year project at this point with
Eyes and Lows working with sports teams, former athletes, doctors, olympians.
It's been great, but there's there's more more to come
(02:16):
and we'll talk about that at that time. So little
announcement to start the show, a little teaser to start
the show, a little teaser in the title of the show.
But yeah, looking forward to the things that change. Unfortunately,
this will be the last show of this year, so
we won't talk about all the end of the regular
season for the NFL going into into the playoffs. We
(02:40):
won't get to talk about basketball or hockey or the
different sports that are going on h you know, wrestling,
pl E's all of those different things. But that's fine.
New Year, New Beginning will come back. Sideline stuff is
going to be strong. We're going to, you know, start
trying to incorporate different things. We might start slow it
for and build up, but looking forward to the changes
(03:04):
that are coming. Tyreek kill my man, You've got to
be looking forward to some changes too. Vasectomy, condoms, birth control, celibacy.
I don't know what, but it's being reported. You have
now had your eleventh child. You can now feel a
(03:25):
football team. Unbelievable. I could not imagine having that many kids. Luckily,
he makes a nice living and can probably afford that
many kids. Philip Rivers for years was the punchline, right
look how many kids Philip River has well, Tyreek has
(03:45):
now passed the Philip Rivers. Between Rivers at ten and
Tyreek at eleven, they can pretty much field an offense
and a defense. Let the two dads coach the team
and let's see what happens. Let's just put them all out.
Let's get it done. Why am I talking about that?
It's just a crazy number. It's connected to sports only
(04:10):
because it's an athlete's kid. I get it. There's lots
of people all over this world to have big families
like this, and is not that uncommon to have ten
to eleven kids in a family. But man, put yourself
in that position. Think just for a minute, stop right now,
with whatever you were doing, whatever situation you have, how
(04:36):
different would it be to have eleven kids, ten more kids,
seven more kids, three more kids, whatever it is to
get to that number, How different would life be? Right?
Think of the impact the kids you do currently have
or don't currently have, have on your life, and what
(04:57):
changes would be made if you had ten or eleven
of them little badasses running around your house. Makes you
go wow. Another thing that makes you go wow are
the baseball rule changes that have been coming out over
(05:17):
the last few years, not all of them bad pitch clocks,
A little goofy DH in both leagues I'm fine with.
But now we've got this idea of being floated around
by Rod Manfred the Golden at bat, in which during
(05:38):
the game a team can use the golden at bat
at any point to have their best hitter come up
and taken it back, whether it's they're turning the rotation
or not. Now this stops after the seventh inning, potentially
(05:58):
there might be a case where in later innings where
you might be able to make it happen. You might
have a situation where you have the same guy taking
back to back at bats. Right, you might be the
first batter up, you strike out, you fly out. Well,
not I need my golden bat back up there. So
(06:20):
you could have one Soto at bat two times in
a row. You could have Aaron Judge, sho Hey O
Tani back to back at bats. I don't like it.
Not a fan of it. What a gimmicky thing to
add into the game of baseball. You're not a video game.
(06:42):
This is not backyard baseball. It's not an All Star event.
It's a baseball game. I don't like the Golden at bat.
Do I think it's probably gonna go through because they
think it's for the fans and they think it's going
to be more exciting. Yes, I think it will get
through based on that narrative. But do I think there's
(07:07):
probably some other people like me out there who are done,
don't need gimmicks added to the games to make them
more entertaining. Yes? Do I think that potentially means I'm
no longer the target audience? Most likely? Does that mean
I'm probably gonna start becoming the old man about it
(07:29):
was better in my day, surely, but a golden at bat?
Come on, baseball, you're better than that. Just better than that.
Let's talk some NBA. Let's switch gears. We're gonna make
a quick show for the last show. I got NBA,
(07:50):
some college football we'll talk about, and some NFL topics
still to discuss. But I want to talk to some
NBA right now. To me, yes, super early in the season.
But as the MVP walked on one hund and it's
(08:11):
not just based on you know, Cleveland being nineteen and
three and whoever the standings are right now, I'm looking
at statistics, all right. If I look at points. Okay,
Yiannis killing it, La Mellow doing his thing. Third place
Nikola Jokic thirty points per game career high. Look at rebounds,
(08:33):
Karl Anthony Towns nice thirteen point one rebounds per game. Second,
Nikole Jokic I go to assists, Right, those are the
three big categories. Well, Trey Young doing his damn thing
twelve point two assists per game. Number two, Nikole Jokic
(08:58):
ten point foursts per game, averaging a high crazy triple
double of thirty, thirteen and ten. You look at these lists, Okay,
he's not top five and blocks as a center. Let's
ding him for that. Who else appears on these lists
(09:21):
multiple times? Three pointers made, Lamello scoring, Lamello assists. James
Harden's not on the scoring list. James Harden's not on
the rebounds list. He's not on the steals list. He's
not on the three pointers list. Giannis, he doesn't appear
on any of the other list. Trey Young's not on
any of the other list. Carl Anthony Towns is not
(09:43):
on any of the other lists. Nikola Jokich is the
best player in the world. That does not mean the
most athletic. That does not mean the most exciting. But
that man is out there playing chess while most of
these boys are playing checkers. And then you look at
the West. Oh, well, his team's in eighth placed in
(10:07):
the West, one game out of the second seed in
the lost column. That's how tight the West is. What
twenty games into the year, one game out in the
lost column from being the two seed. Now they haven't
(10:27):
played as many games Houston's played, what twenty two, Denver
sitting at nineteen. But in the lost column, Houston, it's
second place fifteen and seven, Denver's eleven and eighty, number
one seed in the Western Conference. Right now, the Oklahoma
City Thunder, who I think should win the NBA title
(10:48):
this year, sixteen and five, three game lead in the
lost column with two more games played. So don't give
me his team's eighth. Don't give me they're not playing
that well. This is a completely reworked Denver Nuggets roster
(11:09):
that is a mere couple games out of being a
one seed while they're top player. The NBA's top player
is going for thirty, thirteen and ten. We'll see where
the rest of this season goes. We'll see how the
media wants to spin it. Do they go Cleveland? Do
(11:32):
they try and get somebody off their roster? Is this
Jason Tatum's here with Boston who they're second in the
East right now? We'll see. But if the MVP watches
on Nikola Yochi Jokic is leading that conversation in a
stacked West, oh well, the Nuggets aren't in the in
(11:56):
the companymore. Everybody knows where I stand on the end
season tournament. It's a joke. It's another gimmick, just like
I talked about with the Golden at Bat with baseball.
Don't need it? Do we have to talk about it? Yes,
because it exists. We have to talk about Oklahoma City
(12:18):
versus Dallas, Houston versus Golden State, Milwaukee versus Orlando, and
the Knicks versus Atlanta. All of these teams top what's
at least seven seeds I think in their respective conferences.
Atlanta might be a little lower. So those are the
eight teams left in the Cup. We'll see where it goes.
(12:41):
We'll talk about who won it, the who got the
second banner behind the Lakers. But it's a gimmick, it's
the Golden at Bat. Let's take something from another sport
in Europe adapted to our game to try and see
if we can get some crossover fans, expand our game worldwide,
(13:03):
because that's what basketball means. It's more expansion worldwide. The
world is caught up and really it's about trying to
make more money. But Jokic, dude, it's just fun to
watch you play. What is not fun? Well, let's get
(13:26):
to the conference championships first. You know Boise State UNLB,
you got what Iowa State, Arizona State, Georgia, Texas Oregon
and State Clemson SMU. Three teams and Power five conferences
that are brand new to their leagues making the conference games.
(13:50):
SMU Oregon and Texas Texas and the SDC. First year
in the STC, Texas is in the title game. First
year in the PAC ten organ is in the title game.
And look that coach, he got a little motor City
Dan Campbell in he very well if enticed, could be
(14:13):
making a jump to the NFL. I can see you
that working. And in SMU their first year in the ACC,
which face it, it's depleted in the title game. Very
impressive for all of those teams. Not eighton not Eyton
on the ACC it's depleted. We saw it happened to
Florida State and Miami for that matter. But we'll get
(14:38):
to that in a minute. So looking forward to the
championship games. From what I understood from the reveal, the
twelve teams, however, are set. There's no changing the twelve
teams that have made the College Football if I understood correctly,
all that could change is their positioning in that one
through twelve ranking going into the playoff itself. So what
(15:03):
is the ranking? Well, damn it if I have no
idea how Alabama can be one of those teams. I
listened to the explanation. They are this record against top
(15:26):
twenty five teams, and they're compared to Miami, who has
this record versus those teams. Miami dropped six points or
six positions because of the loss they had against Syracuse.
Alabama's got three losses and was blown out by a really, really,
really bad Oklahoma team. Alabama could easily have five or
(15:50):
six losses. I don't care if Alabama is a name.
I don't care what the coach wants to say about.
Alabama's more built for being in a tournament because more
people like us and expect us to be the Blah,
you don't deserve to be part of the college football Playoff.
You did not take care of business, you didn't get
(16:11):
the job done. Miami was more exciting. They were a
better product to watch on the field this year. They
were in most of the games all the way to
the end, whether they won or ended up losing one.
They have a quarterback who's quite likely going to be
a top NFL draft pick. And that's not better to
(16:34):
put on TV South Beach than Tuscaloosa Alabama. Really, that's
the line, the narrative you want to feed us as
college football fans to explain the committee's decision. Blah, Miami,
(16:56):
more so than Alabama, deserve to be in. Fact, if
you're going to pick a nine to three team to
be in, it's not Alabama. It's all missed. You cannot
have the season Alabama had this year and expect legitimacy
(17:17):
to your college football Playoff by adding them into it.
That's my opinion. That's as real as I can get
with it. Alabama, I get it. Historically, Nick Saban titles
bear Bryant titles this year. Blah, not a good product,
(17:37):
not deserving. But let's look forward to the conference championships.
Let's distract ourselves with conversations about whether the team should
be planting flags on each other's fields during rivalries. Let's
distract ourselves with young men not knowing sportsmanship anymore and
(18:01):
having to get in fights after rivalry games to prove
how tough they are, while the committee sneaks through teams
that don't deserve to be there but make them some money.
So congratulations to the teams, the twelve teams. Congratulations to Alabama.
(18:24):
Whether you deserve it or not, you're one of the
twelve teams at the end of the year that was
in some kind of way or position to be considered right, wrong,
or indifferent. That's where we're at with it, all right, NFL,
Let's get to some thoughts about last week. Andy, you
(18:47):
should be better. You have three players on your defense
in the top five in tackles in the entire league.
Three and you're not in the playoff race right now.
Kansas City has clinched at eleven and one. Buffalo has
(19:09):
clinched the division title at this point in the season,
the earliest the team has clinched the division title. I
think in like, I don't know what was it six
to eight years. It was like twenty nineteen, twenty sixteen,
something like that. The last time a team clinched the
division this early, and I want to say it was
the AFC South that year. But then you have the
(19:34):
team A championed for the Detroit Lions eleven and one,
tied for the best record in the league. Nada having
clinched the division, haven't clinched the playoff birth nothing, because
they've got a team in Minnesota right behind them one
(19:54):
game back. They got a team in Green Bay at
nine to three right behind him. Nothing's tied up in
the NFC. We're starting to see how things are going
to play out in the AfD. I mean, Josh Allen's
looking like the MVP right now by far. I get
(20:15):
it the conversation about Saquon having a great season, but
Saquan's not a different player than he was in New
York last year. Saquan's on a much better team with
a much better offensive line, so it's not surprising with
his talent Saquan is able to do what he's doing
(20:35):
this year. Everybody wrote Buffalo off. I wrote Buffalo off.
Losing the receivers, losing the defensive players they've had. Sean
McDermott is up for Coach of the Year and Josh
Allen one hundred percent should be leading the MVP race
at this point in my opinion, as he's alster year.
(20:58):
The hit was ugly around it. It looked ugly. Trevor
Lawrence's hands seized up, he got a concussion, had to
be carted off the field. It's a bad look. Do
I think Aziz is dirty? No? Do I think his
character needs to be challenged. No? Do I think the
way John Runyon, mister nasty offensive lineman who played dirty himself,
(21:24):
should be sitting on his mighty throne trying to paint
Aziz in some way and destroy his character or integrity
and make his little comments about what Aziz did doesn't
belong in the game. Runyan, if we go back and
watch you tape, I guarantee we're gonna find things that
you did that do not belong in the game of
(21:44):
football while you sit on your high horse as part
of the league. Now you're a joke. Tom Brady came
out talking against the narrative marks the RETH has come
out talking again the narrative against Aziz. I'll share both
of them saying, look, these quarterbacks are learning to slide late.
(22:09):
What is a defender supposed to do? You are a runner,
you have given up your protection as a quarterback. You're
outside the pocket, you are a ball carrier, and you
are choosing to slide late so you can get an advantage,
leaving the defender basically helpless if they even go to
(22:30):
try and do the right thing. So, if you're gonna
penalize the defender and say it's about safety, you damn
well better put yourself in a position to find a
way to penalize the offensive players who are also putting
themselves and others in danger with the way they are
(22:52):
playing the game. Tom Brady's not wrong. Mark Schlereth is
not wrong. Tom Runyon, Dude, you're wrong. You were a
nasty offensive lineman. So as he's auster ere three game suspension,
(23:14):
the league decided to make an example of you. That's
what this is. They're making an example of you trying
to use that three game suspension to prevent other people
from doing it instead of addressing the real problem technique,
proper play coaching, realizing this is a physical game and
(23:38):
at sometimes things will go bad and they won't look good.
Did he deserve a personal foul? Sure, let's give him
a personal foul fifteen yard. You get the normal fine
for personal foul, but a three game suspension because of optics,
(24:00):
because of a lawsuit you settled several years back. Just
put flags on them. Put flags on all the offensive players,
Tell the defensive players you need to be nice to them,
and we'll call football something else. We'll get to the
(24:21):
powder puff football that people used to claim girls played
to make it seem weak and less than we'll do that,
all right. I got some predictions. These are my picks
for the week, and then I'm gonna let you all
get out of here and I will see you back
(24:43):
in January. All right, this week I will take Chicago
to beat San Francisco. You lose c and see you
lose Mason. Your debo isn't one hundred percent healthy. Look
good for a couple of weeks, but hasn't been there.
Kettle's Kettle's hurt, Purdy's hurt. You got defensive backs hurt.
(25:08):
Fred Warner is playing on a broken ankle for some
stupid ass reason. Doesn't make him tough, and it's not
benefiting the forty nine ers. In any way. Their season's done.
Five wins on the year, fourteen weeks in. Let's say
they win out five more wins, they get to ten.
I don't personally think that's going to happen. But let's
(25:31):
say they get to ten wins. Maybe you're looking at
a wild cardboard. Do you really think they're gonna win
five straight with the number of injuries they have, the
way that team's been playing, it's not gonna happen. Chicago's
feeling bravado right now. They're feeling some confidence. So I
think they go into San Francisco and they get one
this week. There's no reason right now for this next
(25:55):
game that green Bay should not win. Detroit's sitting at
what eighteen injuries that's going to catch up to them.
Eighteen starters or backups that have been put on ir
(26:16):
and or are not available, that's ridiculous. At eleven and one,
it's got to catch up to them. So if green
Bay doesn't win it this week, that says a lot
about who green Bay is and their potential for winning
a title. All that being said, I'm going with the
Lions this week Tomorrow night, Thursday night football at home
(26:40):
Detroit once again beats Green Bay. We show that grit.
I'll take Minnesota to beat Atlanta this week. Atlanta's got
the talent, but Minnesota is a little bit better and
Atlanta does not have it rolling right now. I think
New Orleans beats the Giant. Tampa Bay is gonna beat
(27:02):
Las Vegas. Las Vegas. You heard it this week with
Mason Crosby. The losing is getting to that team. Antonio
Pierce looked like he was about to cry on Friday
against Kansas City with the way the Raiders managed to
lose that game several points. He just looked like, what
(27:25):
the hell is going on? So Tampa Bay gets that
victory over the Raiders this week, Philadelphia, look, you should
beat Carolina. I get it. They've been playing some tough games.
Bryce Young look a little better. You know, They've even
won a couple of games, well three of them at
(27:47):
this point. But Philly beats Carolina at home. Who else
I'm gonna take? This is my upset of the week.
Probably doesn't happen, but this is the game Where I
looked at it, I was like, this is the upset
I'm gonna take. I think the Rams shock Buffalo and
(28:12):
get the win this week. I'll take Seattle to get
back to back wins over Arizona in the last three weeks.
Who else. I'll take Cincinnati to beat Dallas. I just
have no faith in Dallas right now. Joe Burrows is
a better quarterback than anybody Dallas can run out there.
(28:32):
CD is not playing inspired. I know. Michael Parsons was like, oh,
here we come. Everybody's been talking about us. Yeah, well,
you beat the Giants. It's not like you went out
last week and beat some top team. You beat the
Giants last week. Let's see. I'm gonna take Pittsburgh to
(28:57):
beat Cleveland this week. I think Pittsburgh gets the rematch
after losing in the snow, and I think they want to.
I think they're hungry. I think it does have a
little bit of an element of revenge for them. I
think they want to keep that first place in the
AFT North. Excuse me, So I'll take Pittsburgh to beat Cleveland,
(29:21):
especially at home. I'll take Tennessee over Jacksonville. Trevor Lawrence,
as we discussed not being in the game this week,
I think Miami beats the Jets. Might be Aaron Rodgers
last game of his career. Do we think he plays
the final five games? He doesn't know. We don't know.
(29:42):
But I'll take Miami to win that one and then
I guess this is an upset. But I think this
team is playing better football than Kansas City right now.
I'll take the Chargers to go into Arrowhead this week
and get the win over whatever version of this Kansas
City t we're currently seeing. Yes, Travis Kelsey's a Hall
(30:04):
of Famer. Yes, Patrick Mahomes is in the conversation for
one of the best quarterbacks to ever play, but it's
not there right now. The defense is not as good
as it has been this season right now. And the
Chargers they've just kind of played pretty consistent all year,
(30:26):
right them in Denver, both with eight wins, both of
them really still in the conversation for a division title.
I mean, when you think about it, what Kansas City's got,
the Chargers, Cleveland, Houston, Pittsburgh and Denver. Those are gonna
(30:46):
be five tough games. The Chargers, Kansas City, Tampa Bay
not that hard. Denver, that's gonna be a good game
on Thursday night in two weeks, and then they close
out with New England in Las Vegas. Denver on a
bye this week. Then they have Indianapolis winnable Chargers, Cincinnati
(31:08):
KSE a little bit harder. Chargers have the easiest out
in the AFC West to finish the season, Kansas City
the hardest, and Denver's in the middle. And we don't
need to talk about the Raiders because they only have
two damn wins. So that's how I see this week going.
Quite possibly could be the end of Aaron Rodgers. If
(31:30):
the Jets lose again, you might as well see what
you got behind him. Give Tyrod Taylor some play, give
him something else to do other than to do is
what ex girlfriend who's got a baby with a Houston
Rocket now and she won't get out of his house,
So put Tyrod out there, change something else up. The
(31:51):
coach doesn't coming back anyway, They're gonna try and get
somebody else help. Maybe Belichick wants to coach the Jets.
He tried it for two days, what ninety nine whatever
it was. I mean, his name's being floated around everywhere,
and I've talked about what I think about that before.
But with that being said, this is the end of
(32:14):
an almost ten year journey so far. Last episode of
real deal sports talk with KP and I will gladly
see you back in January as part of the Sideline
shuffle
