Speaker 1 (00:18):
Welcome in. This is the Sideline juff. Glad you could
join me. Glad you're here. It's a new beginning, it's
a new journey. We're starting over, we're starting anew It's exciting,
it's fresh, it's invigorating. And today we get to talk
(00:43):
about what was and what's to come. We'll give out
some kudos to the divisional round winners as well. Why
not let's do that. But let's get into it. Almost
a ten year journey that I took on Real Deal
Sports Talk with KP and it finally became time to
(01:06):
change things up, to change up the format, to rebrand,
to become the Sidelines Shuffle. Now, why do that? Why
make the change? You've put in all this time, You've
had guests on, you've done hundreds of shows. Why make
the change now? And the best I can say to that,
(01:27):
it was a feeling. It was a feeling. I had
gotten to the point where I was just emulating what
was out there on the marketplace. And that's fine. There's
a lot of successful people that are out there talking
about sports in a certain way, wanting to have some
kind of real or aggressive or in your face type
(01:49):
of style to how they talk about sports and the
things that are going on and the ways that they
choose to use their platform. And that's fine, no problem
with that, do your thing, But for me, it had
gotten to the point that some of that fun was gone, Right,
I was just emulating. I was just putting out a
show each week because it was what I needed to do.
(02:13):
I'm hoping with the new direction, shorter shows, multiple shows,
adapting and bringing on a YouTube channel, that I'm going
to be able to connect with people in a certain way,
different way, that I'll have more guests on different topics, maybe,
you know, be able to refine refine my style a
little more. I was so in every sport before, in
(02:35):
every episode I had to hit a certain number of topics.
I wanted to make sure that I was getting all
of these ideas out and not really mastering any of
those ideas, so to speak. So I'm looking for in
this new venture with Sideline Shuffle, to do multiple short
(02:56):
episodes every week, maybe one or two topics hops per show, right,
do that a couple times a week, then on the weekend,
start putting out the YouTube content that wraps up the week,
maybe adds in a few more topics to talk about
and gives a face to face connection with the audience,
(03:18):
eventually building that out to where they're seamless. Right, And
it's not short episodes on the podcast and one episode
of the YouTube channel on the weekend, but those things
are being recorded simultaneously, right, They're synchronized, happening at the
same time in the moment. So that's what we're working towards.
(03:39):
That's where we're going. We were I was a podcast
that was very much just in the thread of every
other podcast that's out there, and again this venture, I'm
still going to talk about different sports. That's where the
sideline shuffle comes from. We're on the sidelines. Most of
us talk about sports from the sidelines with no real
(04:03):
insider information. It's opinions, it's how we feel about things.
It's what we would like to see as fans, as curators,
as spectators of these perspective sports. And that's what I
want to bring. I want to bring my thoughts. I
want to bring new thoughts. I want to wrap up thoughts.
I want to dive deep, maybe do a few episodes
(04:24):
in a row on one topic, because it takes that
much time to really dive into and break down what's
being talked about. And I hope you guys appreciate that.
I hope you engage in it. I hope you share it.
I hope you reach out and join the show and
become part of the community. I'm going to be keeping
why I love sports. I'm carrying that over. That's definitely
(04:45):
one thing from Real Deale Sports talks with KP that
I really liked doing right. It was sharing those stories,
sharing those inspirations, sharing those moments that really touch you
the fans the listener in some way with the inspiration
or the stick totiveness or the ability to overcome, or
(05:10):
the sportsmanship or the first time moments that we all
can That's what I'm looking for in this show. As
you heard when we came on, We've got a new intro.
It's by an artist named skill Sell. It is energetic
hip hop as he titled it. But I like it.
(05:33):
It's got a nice, nice groove to it. It fits
the idea, a little bit of a shuffle right. It's
got a little shuffle beat to it. You can feel
yourself moving the feet, gives you a little bit of energy,
a little different than the intro we previously had. This
is what we're about right. The Sideline Shuffle is a
(05:53):
podcast for anyone who loves and breathed sports. It's hosted
by me KP, a passionate sports enthusiasts, and I hope
to be able to dive deep into the world of sports,
exploring wide ranges of topics from every corner of the
athletic universe, right women's sports, men's sports. What we're talking
(06:16):
about in trans athletics, the upstart, unrivaled league, the city
of Denver getting a professional women's sports league with one
hundred and ten million dollars stadium, the most expensive stadium
in the history of women's sports. We want to talk
about it. The Unstoppable movie that's getting ready to come out,
covering the story, the remarkable story of a collegiate athlete,
(06:37):
a collegiate wrestler with just one leg. So all corners
of the athletic universe, whether it's the biggest moments in
professional leagues, the hidden gyms and niche sports, or the
untold stories from athletes on and off the field. At
Sideline Shuffle, we want to bring fresh perspective on the
(06:58):
games we all love. It's all about the heart, passion,
and energy that sports bring offering listeners a unique take
is something I hope to do as somebody who is
truly a fan at my core. So lace up your sneakers,
grab your popcorn, and join the shuffle as we dive
(07:20):
into the world of sports like never before. That's where
we're going. That's what we want to build. A synchronize,
multi platform podcast that's hitting the visual, that's hitting the auditory,
that's engaging, that's bringing people in and you're able to
sit and have a chill conversation with good perspectives that
(07:42):
may differ, but at the end of the day can
come together and realize it's sports, it's love, and that's
what we're here for as we shuffle through these different sidelines.
So with that being said, please check out the website
Sidelin shuffle dot net. New content will be coming up there.
(08:02):
The podcast is linked there where you can get in
touch with us on social media. Is there how you
can contribute? Is there all of the different platforms we
are on. There are currently and I'm proud of this.
I don't know if it's a big deal to anybody
else who has a podcast, but currently there are ten
podcasting services that you can listen to Sideline Shuffle on
(08:26):
so Sprinker, Spotify, cast Box, Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music,
Deezer podcast, Addict, Geo Simon, and Podchaser are all places
you can currently listen to our show, along with of course,
Sideline Shuffle dot net. So let's get into it. We've
(08:48):
got some kudos to give, right, We've got some teams
in the NFL that have made it to the championship
games of their conferences. On the NFC side, the Philadelphia
Eagles and the Washington Commanders. On the FC side, you've
got the Kansas City Chiefs, the perennial let's do this
run it back each and every other year team that's
(09:11):
taken the throne from the New England Patriots, and we
have the Buffalo Bills. Two great, great championship games we
are going to see. So kudos to all four of
those teams. As a champion, as a fan, as someone
who long supports the Detroit Lions. It's hard to give
(09:33):
those kudos, right, those fans that lost this weekend, those
fans that didn't make it Detroit, La, Houston, Baltimore, you're
left with what if? Right, You're left with the qualifiers
if this would have happened. My team would have done this.
If this could have happened, we would have done this.
(09:54):
And as a Detroit Lions fan, I know it all
too well. It's a story we have sung. It's a
story as old as time for us. The what ifs
you look at the Lions this year. What if we
only had nine defensive starters go on, ir What if
we didn't have a high school football coach taking snaps
(10:15):
for us in the playoffs. What if we didn't have
a safety who had to play that had one snap
on the season. What if one more call? What if
one more play? What if our coordinators weren't tied up
in head coaching interviews during this season? Right? All of
(10:37):
these things that try and make sense of the emotions
that we're feeling, of the letdown that we have, the
season coming to an end. But we all know coming
into it, thirty one teams go home unhappy at the
end of the year. Thirty one teams. One team gets
the ultimate prize. Now it sucks, it hurts, it's bad.
(11:01):
I don't want to I haven't listened to any coverage,
I haven't listened to any sportscasters. I haven't turned into ESPN.
I don't know what Dan Campbell's said after the game.
I don't know what the players have been saying about
the loss. I don't want to hear it as a
fan right now. I need some space. I don't want
to hear about the hope for next year yet. Do
(11:21):
I know our squad is nice? Yes? Do I know
that with the talent we have coming back and some
of the guys that we need to re sign and
the draft coming up that next year it resets and
there's something to be exciting about one hundred fricking percent.
We have pieces in place from the administration level, to
the coaching level to the players level that make this
(11:44):
team exciting moving forward. But I am not ready for
that just yet. I will be give me a couple
of days. I'll be there before the championship games take place.
In fact, I'll have to get myself there this week.
There's enough people that know I'm Alliance fan that are
going to reach out to me this week and say,
tough game, Oh, they almost got that one next year,
(12:06):
and come up with every cliche that we all tell
ourselves each and every time we have one of these
sports conversations and I can appreciate that. That's the community, right,
That's how we lift each other up. That's how we
put ourselves in perspective, is by having those cliches and
those things that we can go you know what, yes,
till next time. That perseverance. It's not just players who
(12:32):
can develop that, Fans can develop that as well. It's
why we keep coming back year after year. It's not
like we like punishing ourselves. We don't love the emotional
roller coaster, the highs and lows. We keep coming back
because of the competition, because there's a chance, because there's
always that one factor that can make a difference between
(12:54):
being a champion and sitting at home watching somebody crowned one.
Love that about sports. It's why we played the game.
Should Detroit have beat Washington? In my mind? Yes? Did
we show up with the mentality needed to win that game? No? Not,
in my opinion, Not from the sidelines. From the sidelines,
(13:15):
you had a team who came in from the wildcard
round with some momentum, playing with some umph who wanted
to hunt you down. You had another team that was
happy and glad to get the number one. Steed was
welcoming competition, into their home. But that one week off
maybe wasn't the best thing for them. Maybe they needed
(13:38):
to continue grind, Maybe they needed to continue to have
that grit and they didn't need to be on top.
Now we don't know what next year brings. It'd be
nice to say Detroit goes from thirteen three, thirteen and
one to nine and eight to twelve and five to
fifteen and two, and next year is the Super Bowl championship.
It'd be nice to see that trajectory. But as sports fans,
(14:01):
we know that's not guaranteed, and that's why we have
to play the games. In the words of Jim Morrow,
so I'll get there. But right now, it's the what if.
It's the dissecting of the season. It's the dissecting of
individual games, of individual calls. It's the hindsight, it's the
(14:25):
blame game, it's the deflection. But we'll all get there.
Next year, we'll start the draft, will happen, free agencies
coming out shortly, And as a football fan also and
not somebody who's solely tribal connected to a team, I
can't wait for the games next week. There's so many
(14:45):
storylines to talk about. There's so many storylines going into
potential Super Bowl matchups that make it interesting. As a
football fan, a lover, a consumer of the game, cann
continue to enjoy the rest of the playoffs even though
my team is not that team that's going home happy
(15:07):
at the end of the year. So I mentioned the stories, right,
we know Josh Allen has struggled, has not beaten Patrick
Mahomes in the playoffs. What three or four straight times
can they get over that hump this year in the
playoffs going into arrow hit, going into their house the
(15:28):
defending two times Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, who
all year I said, has never been more gettable, and
yet they have not gotten gotten. Now, you can argue
some calls definitely go their way, but guess what the
other day Saturday, Houston wasn't winning that game. If those
(15:51):
two roughing the pastor calls were called, their special teams
were bad. Their special teams were just as much of
a problem, if not more or stowe than those two
blown calls by the officials. Conspiracy theories aside. Houston did
not play well enough to win that game. Detroit did
(16:11):
not play well enough to win that game. LA gave
everything they had and had a chance to win that game, right,
Baltimore gave everything they had and were a dropped two
point conversion away from possibly having a chance to win
that game in overtime. So Buffalo and Allen go in
(16:34):
to try and take that monkey off their back with
Kansas City to try and keep them from being the
first team ever to win three straight Super Bowls. On
the other side, we have Round three of Philadelphia versus Washington.
This season first two rounds have been split, one going
to each team. You've got Jayden Daniels who looks to
(16:57):
be like the cardiac kid, coming in as a rookie
with no blood pressure, no worry for the moment, just cool, collected,
calm and doing his damn thing, which is breeding confidence,
which is breeding trust, which is breeding momentum on this
team that has not tasted success. The last time Washington
(17:22):
won a Super Bowl, they beat Detroit on the way
to do it in the NFC Championship Game, won ninety
one ninety two to face Buffalo in one of their
four straight appearances that ended in Super Bowl losses. So
Buffalo Washington intriguing matchup, intriguing storylines to draw back to
(17:44):
the past. Right the last time these two were in
the Super Bowl, Kansas City and Phidia and Philadelphia a
repeat of a recent Super Bowl some get back. Philadelphia
also would want to keep Kansas City from winning that
third straight Super Bowl appearance and get theirs with a
running attack and a young defense. Hurts is going to
(18:08):
have to come with more for that to happen, though,
a possible Buffalo Philadelphia physical football. Two new age quarterbacks
probably the least intriguing of all the matchups, but Casey
in Washington, Daniels Mahomes not really a changing of the guard.
(18:33):
Mahomes is young, he's still in his prime. He's not
going anywhere, but he has impacted the younger generation on
some level. His game has been responsible for who Jaden
Daniels is as a quarterback. He sees, look, I can
be an athletic guy, I can throw from different platforms.
I can do these different plays that's not a traditional
(18:54):
historical quarterback style and be successful. Can be a young
black quarterback in the NFL and be successful. The roadmap
has been made and now guys are following it. We
see it with Jalen Hurts, we see it with Jayden Daniels.
(19:16):
We see it with Patrick Mahomes. We see it with
a Josh Allen. The guard has changed. The divisional rounds
were great, the championship rounds are going to be better.
I'm so looking forward to continuing this sideline shuffle, this
conversation around sports with all of you. I look forward
(19:37):
to putting up more content and talking to you all soon.
Until next time, you know how we do be wrong
(20:07):
