Welcome to another episode of show, and Jeanette's in the
booth again. So much appreciated. Jeanette, thank you.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
I've read making whoopsie sometimes.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
How's everybody doing out there? I know this is a
little different. It's a live audio. We've got nothing to
look at but each other shaking.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
And grooving over here. It's weird live audio only that's
a little wild.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Fred. So for those of you who want to listen
live that saw the post on one of our social
media platforms, that post is being or that link is
being updated right now and in three two one you
should be able to click play and listen live.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
I don't understand it, but that's okay, man.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I've got some mad copy paste skills. So today we're
gonna kind of everybody. I want to take a step
back because we've been reporting that lub has been feeling
really good and it's been a while and I don't
I cannot remember a time where we've gone this long
(01:54):
A without a flare, and b without just a major
complaint chinks me. Not that you're a major complainer, but
a major Oh my leg's hurt or oh I'm tired
air quotes. I did do the air quotes because you know,
I've got to live with her.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
So I've been feeling really good, haven't haven't had a
major flare, although when was it?
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Saturday? Sunday?
Speaker 1 (02:20):
It was kind of sixty seventy degrees and it was
a little bit cold, and my body did tell me
it was going to be cold, so I had a
little bit of leg pain, but I popped a pill
and I was good.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
You were good to go.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yes, I've been feeling really, really good.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
And I think this cooler weather that we've been experiencing
here in southern California, I know I've been loving it.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I've been loving it too. I love the sun and
I miss it when it's not sunny. But I come
to life, you know, I like I wake up when
it's cool, So I'm enjoying it.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Yeah. And and last night was a little.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Bit cold, and she needed two blankets.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Exactly, I needed two blankets.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
And guys, I haven't slept through the night ever, ever, ever, ever, ever,
But I did last night.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Weren't you helping a classmate like at midnight? Though?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
No? No, no, no, no, yeah, okay, so wait didn't No,
I did.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
But you got up in the middle of the night
and and you woke me.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
So you were strowing in the kitchen.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
You know. I I've always told Loupe, if I could
take your pain, I would, and I think I have.
For the last three days. I've been not feeling on
your heart. Hey, and I'll.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Continue to take it well because probably people are wondering,
why did he wake you up if he was in
the kitchen. Usually I sleep in the living room most
of the time, the recliner, because that's where I'm comfortable.
If I lay down in bed for too long because
of all her inflammation, my body starts aching.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
And it's it's it's a lot of pain.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Let's just be honest. It's because you snor and I
won't let you sleep in the bedroom.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
See he kicks me off.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
But but okay, So I slept through the night except
for like a few seconds, and because of the two blankets.
So it's I think it's time to pull out my
weight to blanket.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I love it, and you have a new heating pad.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yes, I My hitting pad stopped working several months ago
and so i've been just not using one. But it
arrived last week from Amazon when it was cold. I
think Brian ordered it for me. And oh, it's heaven.
It's heaven.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Yeah, I love it.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
And we've been doing we religiously. I've been cooking Mike
for five hours on Sundays, doing meal prep.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Oh no, no, no, I'm not looking for thanks, but
I'm saying you've been eating really really clean for quite
a while now.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
I've been eating really clean, drinking lots of water. My
mind has been really sharp, no flares, no nothing.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
I've been.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Still taking my anti inflammatory concoction that we talked about,
I think on the last episode, and I feel amazing.
I still have a lot of inflammation, but you know what,
that's just who I am now. So but yeah, and
my mind has been sharp, and I wanted to tell
you guys that I did make a post about it,
(05:34):
but I'm taking.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
A class at JC and I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Just my mind feels really sharp and I'm very very
happy about that.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
And it's really weird for me to be like going
to bed and you're still up doing schoolwork. Usually you
know you're asleep by seven.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Now that's you, you're sleep by nine.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
I usually I'm away watching out Choppele or something.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
But yeah, that's too funny.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
But I'm loving it. Oh, although I'm a little bit disappointed.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Ask me, why, why are you disappointed?
Speaker 1 (06:10):
I ordered this book on Amazon and I've been wanting
this book for the longest time, and I've been holding
off on it because it's one hundred dollars book and
it's a Cholgrin's syndrome book. It's called Cholgren Syndrome, a
Clinical Handbook, and I've been wanting it forever. But it's again,
it's a hundred bucks, and I'm just like, I don't
(06:32):
want to spend the money.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
But it's a book that I really wanted.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
So a couple of days ago, I couldn't sleep and
I ordered it and it arrived today damaged, corner damaged.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Is it ribbed?
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Nope?
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Our pages missing?
Speaker 3 (06:48):
I don't think, so.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Didn't read the book.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
It's one hundred dollars book.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
The content didn't change, it's.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Qushed, it's crushed, So I'm going to return it.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
I don't know about you so much.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Actually, it looks like it's very returned. Look, it looks
like it's very used. Yeah, I'm not happy with it,
so I'm gonna return it.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
I'm gonna send it back.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
That is that. But wow, So okay, So that's that's
an update on me.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
I'm still working a lot of hours, but I think
because of that. I don't know, because my mind was
sharp before I started school, So I think it has
a lot to do with I don't have stress. Is
my job stressful? It can be a little bit, but
(07:41):
not really. It's just a lot of work, but it's easy.
I'm not stressed, and my mind is just always working.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
And I don't know, I'm just very excited.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
And and I want to talk about what we did
this weekend because was it Saturday? I think it was Saturday.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
What do we do?
Speaker 2 (08:02):
I don't know, Yeah, it must have been Saturday. We
played hooky from the studio. I had nobody coming in,
no recording sessions. There's always work to be done. But
I'm like, you know what, let's go do something cool.
So we didn't make breakfast. It was National Pancake Day,
and I do a podcast about orange County, California. So
(08:26):
we went to a local pancake place and well.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
It was it was two packed, wasn't it? Or did
we No?
Speaker 2 (08:34):
No, So we wanted to go to is it Crazy Bear.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Or Bear Bearing?
Speaker 2 (08:41):
And I love that restaurant because they're bacon thick cut
apple smoked bacon, and my mouth's watering right now, and
it's always just crazy busy. So we drove by it
and there's a place up the street called I Love Pancakes,
and I'm like, that's playing. I called it Plan B
(09:02):
and then I'm like, wait a bit, there's an I
Hop past that. So we ended up stopping it I Hop.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
And I'm like, you know, McDonald's has good pancakes.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
McDonald's does not have good pancakes. And it's it's National Pancakes.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
So yes, we ended up at I Hop.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
And I had pancakes.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
I didn't. I had a sandwich.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
She had a chicken sandwich for breakfast.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
So what That's what I was cramming, because you know.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
What it was, it's national It's pancake Day.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Did you even offer me a bite?
Speaker 2 (09:30):
They were my pancakes. You want to pancakes, order pancakes.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
I didn't want a pancake.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
I wanted a salmich, but she wanted to bite it.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Mine not really because I didn't take it. If I
wanted it, I wasn't.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah, you would have. So after we celebrated hashtag National
Pancake Day, we went to a local swap meet. Now
this swat meat used to be like four rows. It
was kind of small, and we we don't go to
a shop. We kind of go to just hang out
(10:02):
and walk around and look at stuff and see people.
And this is the second swat meat we've been to
since COVID restrictions have lightened, and this swat meat like
blew up.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Well it's bomb diggity. Okay.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Now I used to go to that swamy bc BC
just means before Colburn, you know, before I met Brian
and uh sorry and uh I used to go all
the time, and I really used to enjoy it because
again it's just walking and it used to be a
little bit bigger. And then towards the end it just
used to be people that have old stuff, you know,
(10:41):
old used.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Stuff like what a swat meat is supposed to be.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yeah, but then I don't know, it just got smaller
and smaller and we went and what a grace.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Oh my good, it was it. I mean a there
were tons of people, but it's outdoors, you know, so
we felt safe. Yes, and it's three times the size
and we were just like A. We had a hard
time parking. Yes, we drove to where we normally park
couldn't get in parking lot shut down maxed out, so
(11:09):
then we had to wait in line to get to
this second parking lot. We had to park kind of
far away, which is fine because we're there to get
some you know, steps in anyway, and we walk up
and you can't see it right, and we're walking up
and we passed the athletic center. We make a left
and we're like what it was very nice And the
(11:31):
first one of the first booths was a gentleman who
makes leather belts while it's boots, all hand crafted, beautiful
stuff and the smell of leather and the crowd and
you could hear music playing. A couple rows over, and
there's an entire row of food trucks and the guy
that roasts peanuts. You could smell the peanut oil in
(11:52):
the air, and food trucks.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
You know, the only thing that was missing was Servisa.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
You know this swat meat doesn't sell.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Beer because it's out of school.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
It is at a junior college local.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Probably that's why. But I mean that's the only thing
that was missing. It was it was so much fun.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
So what swat mean? Have you been to that sells beer?
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Brains by b you a T shirt for one dollar?
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Tell us a story.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
It was really hot one day, I think I was.
It was before my diagnosis, so I don't remember. But anyways,
it was really hot, and we got in for a dollar,
and I don't know, you tell it better.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
And then I spent about two hundred dollars on beer.
And then we go to our buddy's house and she's like,
I got drunk for one dollar. No she didn't.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Well that's because I can't.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
And it wasn't two hundred dollars. It was a fun day, though,
And you didn't give me a really cool.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
T shirt that I bought with your money.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
That's true. I was gonna buy the T shirt. She
snatched the money out of my hand paid for it
with my money, and then it's like, yeah, I got
you this.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
It was funny.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
That's how much beer she can It is a funny story.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
Funny, But I don't think like that anymore. I don't
drink like that anymore.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Neither of us do.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yeah, No, I couldn't do it. You know what.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
The last time I got really really drunk, it took
me like three weeks to recover. I just went into
a major flare and I couldn't. I couldn't recover. So
I'm like, nope, I don't ever want to feel that
way again.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Never. So anyway, we've just kind of been reminiscing.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
It's fun We haven't done this in a while, you.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Know, it's funny. I've been working late three days a week.
She's in school one night a week. We're like, never
see each other sitting here talking because we haven't seen
each other in a while. That's funny. Hey, we want
to hear from you. How are you feeling? We know
it's not cool everywhere in the US, you know, we
know some areas are getting a hot snap and all
of that. But hit us in the comments. Whether you're
(13:50):
listening live on schulgrinstrong dot com, there's a comment section
down below. Hit it number one, number two. You can
comment on this post whether you're on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
How are you feeling. We want to know. Yes, I'm
sure Lupe is not the only one feeling good.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
I think there's a lot of people. I mean, you know,
but Instagram seems to be the most active and a
lot of people are feeling great.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
You know.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
It just it depends on where you're at and what's
going on in your life.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
But let us know, chime in, let us know how
you are feeling. And excuse me, we're doing audio only,
and I think we're gonna do audio only for a
little while.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
So, you know what. I think. I've talked about this before.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
I think going live is fun, but I feel that
I hold back a lot, maybe because I'm live on TV.
I don't know, I don't know, but I feel more
comfortable like this. So definitely, I think we're just going
to stick to this.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
And video does add a different component to it.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Yeah, there's a lot of pressure, like your life, don't
say the wrong thing.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Where am I looking?
Speaker 3 (15:05):
I don't know?
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Did I just picked my nose?
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Am I playing with my hair like everybody else on TV?
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Wow? I know who you just imitated?
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Yeah, but you know what, I don't have long hair,
so I can't really play with.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
It and Hey, this weekend, we have finally picked a location.
We were going to go back to Huntington Beach. However,
the Great American Air Show is also this weekend right
at the pier where we were going to participate in
the twenty twenty one Virtual Walk for Chogrin. So we
(15:40):
are changing locations, not really the beach, but really close
and we are going to walk back bay. I want
to say it's going to be about a three mile loop.
There is a little climb on the so we're gonna
(16:02):
be parking at the visitor center. There's a parking lot
there and a little visitor center and we can access
the back Bay walking trail from there, and we're going
to head towards Jamboree and make the right cross the
river and then there's a little climb there and it's gradual,
nothing big, and you're on sidewalk. Yeah, and then we're
(16:25):
you go down a hill and then you're pretty much
flat around the back bay. There's a footbridge we're gonna
cross and then that takes us out to pch Then
we're going to actually cross the bay again and then
there's an uphill and were kind of walk through a neighborhood.
(16:47):
It's it's a walking trail, but little neighborhood streets, and
then we're back onto a hardcore walking trail back to
the visitor center.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
We're going to do the entire circle.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
That's the plan. Stand. I think it's about three miles. Okay,
if I'm not mistaken, I think it's about three But again,
none of it's none of it's dirt. If I'm I
don't think so. Maybe that last time coming from pH
there's steps.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Maybe I don't really remember. We haven't done it in.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
A Yeah, we haven't done back Bay in a while.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
But on our bikes. So yeah, so no, there's no dirt.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
So and back Bay for those of you don't know,
it's Newport Beach back Bay and there's like a kayak
club and there's some homes overlooking back Bay. There's tons
of water fowl. It's a protected area that you'll see
people out there doing the stand up paddle board thing.
It's it's a pretty area known for coyotes. Were there cats?
(17:47):
I think I don't think there's any cats, But we've
never even seen coyotes or cats down there. You might
see a rabbit running around. You might see some you know,
lizards running around.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
The little kermit crabs.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Or what do they call hermit hermits are all over
the place, tons of waterfowl. It's a nice protected area
that the river dumps into before it meets the ocean.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
And right across the street, the lady that did my
liner tattoo lives. And maybe I'll go get a touch up,
Yeah you will.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
And at the about the halfway point there's a Starbucks.
Not that we're going to be stopping for Starbucks, but
it's a possibility.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Maybe, you know, well, speaking of Starbucks, can I change
the subject a little bit?
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (18:28):
Okay, I want to go back to because I did
want to say this earlier.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
I know where you're going because.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
I've been feeling really good, right and uh sometimes because
I remember one time I went into a big flare
and I was having a lot of Starbucks and a
lot of ES's Racis sticks that I love.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
That's my crack right now.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
I try not to bring you know, I love ice cream,
but I don't bring it into the house because I'll
eat the entire gallon and one sitting. But so I've
been having Starbucks and the Race's cup, the Reesa sticks,
and even though I have been having a little bit
of sugar, not all the time, but.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
I've still been feeling really good.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
And you cutting Starbucks out has been huge. Yeah, so
that's that's a good thing because you were getting the
vanilla chai latte.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Yeah. I vanilla chai latte.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Yeah, and it's sugar syrupy.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Because I don't like I don't drink coffee, but I
love that. But no, I've been yeah, no, so once
in a while it was okay. But anyways, I just
wanted to throw that out there because even though I've
been having a little bit of sugar, I've still been
feeling great. So I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing.
I don't know what it is, but I love it.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
But it's been working. Yes, yes, yeah, but it's been working. Okay.
So back to the twenty twenty twenty twenty one Virtual
Walk for Shogrins. Listen, everybody, we need your help. We
know exactly how many listeners we have. We know how
many people follow us on Facebook, we know how many
people follow us on Instagram and Twitter. We are below.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
Our goal, way below ourgo.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
We're at thirty three percent of our goal and we've raised.
We've raised close to it. I want to say close
to seven hundred dollars and I close my computer, so
I don't have the exact numbers. We need your help.
If you would like to join the twenty twenty one
Virtual lock Walk, click that link. It will take you
(20:32):
to Team Shogrin Strong. You can join our team. We
would love to have you on our team. If you
want to create your own team, bring it. If you
want to donate to a team member, that's awesome, but
please please donate. If everybody who liked follows, shared our
stuff donated a dollar, we would more than exceed our goal.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
That'd be us.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
That would be way cool. And if you have the
means and can donate two fifty sweet five dollars, awesome,
you want to step up and donate a little more
because you can. You love what we're doing, and you
appreciate the foundation. Let them know the money's going directly
to the foundation. And again, whether you're donating to the team,
joining the team, you know, it's as long as you're
(21:19):
helping out. And again, this foundation does so much for us.
We would love to see the support roll in from
this point forward. We would love to exceed our goal,
at the very least get as close to possible. So again,
find it in your heart. One dollar. Look on Instagram
if you've got a credit card already in the Instagram app,
(21:40):
and or Facebook because they're the same. There's a fundraiser
on the Shogrin's Strong Instagram account. You can donate there
and one hundred percent of that money will get sent
to the foundation from Instagram or Facebook. Uh, and that's
fine as well. So help us raise some funds, which
(22:03):
raises awareness, which continues the drug trials, which continues the research,
which continues updating the patient care sheets and the diagnostic
sheets that they work so hard to put out. We
would really really appreciate it. And again, if you're just
not in a position to donate financially, share it. Hit
(22:25):
your circle of influence up on social media and ask
them to help you help us help the foundation.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
That's a lot of helping, a lot of helping.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
We're helping people, We're helping the helpers of people who
need help.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Yeah, I mean I wish it was in person right
like a couple of years ago, but hopefully next year.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
And if you're in the Orange County, La Orange, Semberardino riverside,
North San Diego, and you want to come walk with us,
It's Newport back Bay. Hit us up private message, DM, email,
phone call. We'll give you directions to where we're going
to meet and it's a nice, safe, secure area and
come walk with us.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
It'll be fun.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
It will be fun, and we have a little logistics
to work out via the messaging today, but we'll probably
shouldn't disclose. We'll we'll deal with that and but yeah,
we will be stepping off right as soon as we can.
(23:32):
I'm saying too much. I like starting going down a
road that I don't think I should have gone down,
and I'm trying to BACKPEDALR.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
